WE NEED A NEW CDT CODE.

The author discusses issues concerning compliance of dentists to the Code on Dental Procedures and Nomenclature (CDT) introduced by the American Dental Association (ADA). Topics explored include the involvement of dentists and orthodontists in the adoption of interoperable electronic health records (EHR) system, the updating of CDT by the ADA Code Maintenance Committee, and the implementation of dental procedure coding systems that would also benefit patients.
