2. A study on the Bioecological Characteristics of the Exotic Pumpkinseed (Lepomis gibbosus) Population in Gökpınar Dam Lake (Western Anatolia, Türkiye).

This study was conducted to determine some bioecological characteristics of Lepomis gibbosus (L. 1758), commonly known as pumpkinseed sunfish, which spreads in Gökpınar Dam Lake (GDL) in Denizli Province. The fish samples were captured with an experimental seine net and multimesh gillnet from May 2019 to April 2020. During the samplings, certain physicochemical parameters of GDL were measured, habitat utilization, relations to environmental variables, feeding habits and interspecific interactions with other fishes of L. gibbosus individuals were observed. It is observed that GDL provides a suitable habitat for L. gibbosus in terms of water quality and other ecological requirements. A total of 1005 L. gibbosus individuals, consisting of 302 females, 605 males, and 98 juveniles, were sampled throughout the study, and biometric studies were conducted. In the population males were found to be dominant. The averages were determined as follows; total length as 5.82±2.09 cm (2.46-11.34), weight as 4.94±4.67g (0.20-34.65), and condition factor as 1.71±0.24. The ages were determined between 0+ to II+and Age-length relationship (VBGE) was estimated as 𝐿𝑡=19.85(1 - 𝑒-0.2744(𝑡+0.272)) Spawning occurs between April and June in individuals at the age of I+. It has been observed that the species exhibits good growth rates in this habitat, displays opportunistic omnivorous feeding behavior, preys on another invasive alien species, Gambusia holbrooki, present in the lake, and competes with the same species for habitat sharing. It has been determined that L. gibbosus has formed a self-sustaining population in GDL, but it utilizes a limited lake area as its habitat. In conclusion, GDL is considered as a hydrologically unstable and highly variable habitat. L. gibbosus population of GDL exhibits significant similarities in terms of bioecological characteristics with populations that spread outside its natural spreading area. As L.gibbosus is an exotic fish and might be have invasive traits, it is necessary to monitor of the population regularly, and control measures should be taken to prevent its spread to other inland water bodies. 3. Current Status, Management, and Future Prospects of Whiting (Merlangius merlangus) in the Sea of Marmara.

The current status of whiting (Merlangius merlangus Linnaeus, 1758) populations in the Sea of Marmara (Turkey) was evaluated by estimating growth and mortality rates in this study. The overall sex ratio (M:F) was calculated as 1:1.36. b value of LWR computed as 2.8904 for both sex groups, and M. merlangus showed a negative allometric growth type by Pauly's t-test result. The age of individuals in the population ranged from I to VI. The growth parameters were estimated as L∞ = 35.74 cm, k = 0.124 yr-1, and t0 = -1.338 years for all individuals. Total mortality (Z), natural mortality (M), and fishing mortality (F) rates were calculated as 1.35 yr-1, 0.34 yr-1, and 1.01 yr-1, respectively. The Phi-prime growth index (φ′) and exploitation rate (E) of the population were calculated as 2.20 and 0.75 yr-1 . According to the results, it is obvious that the whiting stocks in the Marmara Sea are currently used at a high capacity (E = 0.75 yr-1 ). The impact of over-fishing can have increasingly detrimental effects on the overall population size of this population. Fisheries management practices in the Marmara Sea should be regulated by taking into account the ecosystem change, fishing fleet, and unreported catch data. In addition, temporal or spatial fishing bans can be applied by increasing the selectivity of fishing gear. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Mart 2012 ile Haziran 2013 tarihleri arasinda dere uzerindeki 6 istasyondan aylik olarak elektrosok cihazi yardimiyla avcilik gerceklestirilmistir. Elde edilen S. cephalus bireylerinin boy, agirlik, yas, esey dagilimlari ve oranlari, yas-boy, yas-agirlik, boy-agirlik iliskileri, von Bertalanffy parametreleri, fulton kondisyon faktoru degerleri incelenmistir. Turun yas dagiliminin 0 ile VII yas gruplari arasinda degistigi gozlenmistir. Total boy degerleri tum bireylerde 2,6-30,1 cm; agirlik degerleri ise 0,14-352,50 g arasinda degismistir. Disi-erkek orani 1:2,76 olarak saptanmistir. Tum bireylerde; boy-agirlik iliskisi W=0,0078TL3,15 olarak, von Bertalanffy buyume parametreleri L∞, W∞, K ve t0 sirasiyla 42,18 cm, 1023,97 g, 0,137 ve -0,576 olarak belirlenmistir. Tum bireylerde aylara gore fulton kondisyon faktoru degeri en dusuk 2013 Subat ayinda (0,908), en yuksek ise 2012 Haziran ayinda (1,222) bulunmustur.

Özet: Bu çalışma, Türkiye iç sularında yaşayan Çapak Balığı, Abramis brama (L., 1758)'nın biyolojik özellikleri üzerine ilk kapsamlı araştırmadır. Ladik Gölü'nden (Samsun) Kasım 2009-Ekim 2010 tarihleri arasında aylık olarak yakalanan toplam 722 birey kullanılarak türün boy ve ağırlık dağılımları, yaş ve eşey kompozisyonları, boy-ağırlık ve boy-boy ilişkileri, von Bertalanffy büyüme parametreleri, kondisyon faktörü değerleri ve üreme dönemi belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen örneklerin çatal boyları 8,1-44,6 cm ve ağırlıkları 8-1790 g arasında dağılım göstermiştir. Eşey oranı (D:E) 1:1,58 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Maksimum yaş her iki eşey için 8 yıl olarak tespit edilmiştir. Boy-ağırlık ilişkisi dişilerde W=0,0081ÇB3,229, erkeklerde W=0,0103ÇB3,148 şeklinde bulunmuştur. Total boy-çatal boy, çatal boy-standart boy ve standart boy-total boy arasında kuvvetli ilişkiler gözlenmiştir. Von Bertalanffy büyüme denklemi parametreleri dişiler için L∞=84,95 cm, W∞=13732,62 g, k=0,08 (yıl-1), t0=-0,54 yıl, erkekler için L∞=89,20 cm, W∞=14209,72 g, k=0,06 (yıl-1), t0=-1,13 yıl olarak hesaplanmıştır. Fulton'un kondisyon faktörünün (K) ortalama değeri dişilerde 1,63, erkeklerde 1,58 ve tüm örneklerde 1,59 olarak saptanmıştır. Ortalama K, yaş ve boy gruplarına göre bir artış eğilimi sergilemiştir. En yüksek ortalama K değeri dişiler için Nisan (K=1,75), erkekler için Ağustos (K=1,64) aylarında elde edilmiştir. Gonadosomatik indeks (GSİ) değerlerinin aylık değişimine göre üreme Nisan-Haziran ayları arasında gerçekleşmektedir. The length and weight distributions, age and sex compositions, length-weight and length-length relationships, parameters of the von Bertalanffy growth equation, condition factor values, and reproductive period of the fish in question were examined by using a total of 722 specimens captured on a monthly basis from Lake Ladik (Samsun) between November 2009 and October 2010. Fork lengths of fish ranged from 8.1 to 44.6 cm and their weights ranged from 8 to 1790 g. The overall sex ratio (F:M) was 1:1.58. The maximum age was 8 years. The length-weight relationship was found as W=0.0081ÇB3.229 for females and W=0.0103ÇB3.148 for males. All relationships among total length, fork length, and standard length were highly significant. The parameters of the von Bertalanffy growth equation were calculated as L∞=84.95 cm, W∞=13732.62 g, k=0.08 (year-1), t0=-0.54 year for females and L∞=89.20 cm, W∞=14209.72 g, k=0.06 (year-1), t0=-1.13 year for males. The mean values of the Fulton's condition factor (K) for females, males, and all individuals were 1.63, 1.58, and 1.59, respectively. Mean K displayed an upward trend with reference to age and length groups. The highest value of mean K was observed in April (K=1.75) for females and August (K=1.64) for males. This study was aimed to determine the age and growth of mirror carp (Cyprinus carpio L., 1758) population of Keban Dam Lake, Elazığ, Turkey. For this purpose, the fish samples were obtained from the area near the set of Keban Dam Lake by using 20-40 mm mesh size gill nets from November 2016 to December 2016. 120 mirror carps (54 females and 66 males) were examined in the present study. They ranged from 2 to 8 in age, from 21.50 to 37.50 cm in total length and from 172.66 to 789.17 g in body weight. A nonlinear relationship was found between the total length and weight of C. carpio (W=0.0135*TL3.0403; r2=0.9724). The growth parameters were estimated as 43.09 cm for L8, 0.176 years-1 for k, -2.423 years for t0, 17 years for tmax, 2.51 for the growth performance index (?) and 1.62 for condition factor (Cf). The age-at-length data fitted to the Von Bertalanffy Growth Function was determined as Lt=43.09*[1-e-0.176(t+2.423)]. The absolute, relative and instantaneous growth values of mirror carp from Keban Dam Lake were the highest in the age range of 2-3, followed by the age range of 3-4. This study investigates the biological features of 164 brond-snout Chondrostoma regium (Heckel, 1843) samples caught in Lake Ladik between January and March 2010 such as age and sex composition, length and weight distribution, length, age and weight relations and condition factors. The age was determined from the scales and the ages of the fishes were found to change between 2 and 5 years. The range of the total lengths and the weight of the samples were found to be 16.5-25.4 cm and 40.04-192.42 g respectively. The sex ratio (F/M) was found to be 1/0.29. The parameters of von Bertalanffy growth equations were L∞ = 28.15 cm, W∞ = 254.16 g, k = 0.30 year-1 and t0 = -1.23 year and the growth performance index value (Ø') was found to be 2.38. The lengthweight relation was found to be W = 0.0029 TL3.41. There were strong relations among different lengths (p<0.001, r² > 0.98). Fulton's condition factor was found to be 1.01±0.09. Bu çalışmada Mart 2018-Nisan 2019 arasında İskenderun Körfezi'nde zıpkın avcılığı ve uzatma ağı ile toplanan 179 adet aslan balığının Pterois miles (Bennett, 1828)'in yaş, büyüme ve beslenme özellikleri araştırılmıştır. 1-6 yaşlar ve 14,5-35,5 cm boylar arasında dağılım gösteren bireylerin eşey oranı erkekler lehine 1:0,67 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Boy-ağırlık ilişkisi dişiler için W = 0,0067L3,2204, erkekler için W = 0,0076L3,1811, tüm bireyler için W = 0,0079L3,1706 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Von Bertalanffy büyüme parametreleri tüm bireyler için L∞=44,6271 cm, K=0,1933 yıl-1, t0=-1,3513 yıl olarak hesaplanmıştır. Gonadosomatik indeks değeri %6,33 ile en yüksek Ağustos ayında tespit edilmiştir. Midelerin %43'ü boş olarak, içeriğe sahip midelerde balıklar, kabuklular, yumuşakça kabukları, deniz bitkisi, resif parçaları tespit edilmiştir., In this study, age, growth and nutritional characteristics of 179 lionfish Pterois miles (Bennett, 1828) collected in Iskenderun Bay between March 2018 and April 2019 with harpoon and extension net were investigated. The sex ratio of individuals aged between 1-6 years and 14.5-35.5 cm was calculated as 1: 0.67 in favor of males. The length-weight relationship was calculated as W = 0.0067L3.2204 for females, W = 0.0076L3.1811 for males, and W = 0.0079L3.1706 for all individuals. Von Bertalanffy growth parameters for all individuals L∞ = 44.6271 cm, K = 0.1933 year-1, t0 = -1.3513 years were calculated. The highest gonadosomatic index value was 6.33% in August. 43% of the stomachs were empty, stomachs with contents of fish, crustaceans, mollusc shells, marine plants, reef parts were detected.

Mesopotamian spiny eels, Mastacembelus mastacembelus (Banks & Solender, 1794), were collected from a large dam lake located on the Euphrates River in order to determine the most reliable ageing method among different hard structures and to estimate growth parameters. Vertebra, otolith, and opercle series were removed from 195 individuals. Vertebrae displayed the most interpretable annulus formations. Total length ranged from 14.4 cm to 76.9 cm and total weight ranged from 6.0 g to 950.0 g. The length and weight frequency distribution was significantly different between the 2 sexes (K-S test, P < 0.001). The length-weight relationship, determined as W = 0.004TL2.84 (r = 0.98), revealed no sex-based significant difference (GLM, P > 0.05). Age classes ranged from 1 to 21 years in males and up to 9 years in females. Vertebra diameter was strongly correlated with total length and age, which were expressed by linear or cubic regression equations. The von Bertalanffy growth parameters were L∞ = 81.7 cm, k = 0.13 cm year-1 and t0 = -0.573 years for the combined sexes, and the Ø'index was estimated as 6.766. Age interpretation revealed that a natural mark occurs on vertebrae in the third year of growth. This mark was composed of narrowly arranged numerous checks within the third annulus and it disappeared in subsequent annuli, which may be related to an environmental stress factor that occurred in that year. Age, growth, length-weight relationship and reproduction were investigated for striped seabream (Lithognathus mormyrus L., 1758) collected from Beymelek Lagoon (Antalya, Turkey) between February 2006 and January 2007. The ages of striped seabream ranged from 0 to 3 years for males and from 0 to 4 years for females. Their total lengths and weights ranged between 14.4 and 26.4 cm and 42 and 297 g for males and 14.3 and 27.4 cm and 40 and 329 g for females, respectively. The growth parameters of the von Bertalanffy equation were: L∞ = 28.3 cm, K = 0.456 year-1 and t0 = -1.859 year for males, L∞ = 28.1 cm, K = 0.466 year-1, and t0 = -1.982 year for females and L∞ = 31.5 cm, K = 0.319 year-1 and t0 = -2.201 year for all individuals (male, female, and immature). The fitted length-weight relationships of males and females were W = 0.0089×L3.1599 (r2 = 0.9591) and W = 0.0076×L3.2187 (r2 = 0.8982), respectively. Weight increased positive allometrically with the total length for males, while isometrically for females. First sexual maturity length was determined as 17.8 cm for male and 18.5 cm for female striped seabream in Beymelek Lagoon. This study was carried out to determine the body growth of Akkaraman, Dağlıç, Kıvırcık, Malya and Karacabey Merino (KM) lambs at intensive fattening period. A total of 50 male lambs there are 10 lambs from each breed were used in the study. The lambs were 2.5 months of age and their live weights averaged as 20 kg at the beginning of fattening period the intensive fattening period lasted for 68 days. The increase in body measurements of Akkaraman, Dağliç, Kivircik, Malya and Karacabey Merino were determined as 9.8, 5.9, 11.2,10.5 and 10.2 cm for withers heights; 13.0, 10.9, 8.6, 12.5 and 12.2 cm for rump heights; 13.1, 8.6, 8.6, 13.8 and 14.4 cm for body lengths; 20.2, 15.6, 16.5, 23.9 and 20.7 cm for heart girths and 22.0, 16.5, 16.2, 21.1 and 20.5 cm for leg girths respectively. During the intensive fattening period Akkaraman, Malya and KM genotypes had similar body performance however these breeds had better body performance than Kivircik and Dağliç genotypes. The aim of this study was to calculate the basic population parameters of Trachurus mediterraneus off the coast of the Eastern Black Sea. Average total length was estimated as 13.52 ± 1.884 cm for the entire population, 13.08 ± 1.594 cm for males, and 13.62 ± 1.804 for females. Average weight was 20.27 ± 8.819 g for the entire population, 18.65 ± 7.626 g for males, and 21.31 ± 9.184 g for females. Age of the fish ranged between 0 and 5 years. Length-weight, age-length, and age-weight relationships were estimated for the population, where W = 0.0089 x L2.9552; Lt = 26.09 (1 - e-0.125(t + 4.002)); and Wt = 136.56 (1 - e-0.125(t + 4.002)). In this study, the age and growth of Himri Barbel (Barbus luteus Heckel, 1843) were determined based on specimens collected from Orontes River-Turkey, during the period from February 2004 to January 2005. This population comprised 7 age groups of males and 9 of females. The male and female ratio was 1:1.26 (M:F). Total length-weight relationship was estimated as W = 0.0129TL2.986 for females, W = 0.0125TL3.003 for males. Growth parameters of the von Bertalanffy equation were computed for females and males as: L∞= 38.77, W∞= 714.23, k = 0.300, t0 = -1.69 and L∞ = 40.32, W∞ = 819.35, k = 0.247, t0 = -1.58, respectively. A total of 1527 of poor cod (Trisopterus minutus Linn., 1758) were collected by trawl hauls between April 2001 and March 2002 from İzmir Bay (central Aegean Sea). The size of the fish (total length) ranged from 10.6 cm (minimum, September) and 24.8 cm (April). The population was composed of 53% males, 41% females, and 6% immature individuals, with a female to male ratio of 1:1.3. The age composition of the samples was from I to V. The von Bertalanffy growth parameters were L∞ = 28.1 cm, W∞ = 254.0 g, K = 0.26 y-1 , and to = -1.52 y. The length at first sexual maturity was 13.3 cm in females and 12.5 cm in males. Spawning season begins in December and reaches its maximum level in January while continuing April. Fecundity ranged from 1236 to 21,463 eggs/female and showed significant correlation with fish length and weight. The total (Z), natural (M), and fishing mortality (F) rates, and the exploitation ratio (E) for all individuals were estimated respectively as Z = 0.82, M = 0.38, F = 0.44, and E = 0.57 y-1. This shows that the poor cod smaller than 14 cm must not be harvested and fishing should be prohibited from January to April and that the poor cod stock in the central Aegan Sea is being exploited at a slightly higher than the optimal level. Age, sex, mortality, and growth characteristics of brown trout ( Salmo trutta) from the upper Aksu Stream were investigated. Females and males comprised 52.13% and 47.87% of the population, respectively. Age ranged from 1 to 8. The fork length (L) and total weight (W) were 5.7-22.8 cm and 2.9-142.6 g, respectively. Length-weight relationships were W = 0.015 × L2.939, W = 0.015 × L2.928, and W = 0.015 × L2.932 for females, males, and overall, respectively. The estimated von Bertalanffy growth parameters were L∞ = 33.27 cm, K = 0.107 y-1, and t0 = -1.046 y for females; L∞ = 29.50 cm, K = 0.143 y-1, and t0 = -0.562 y for males; and L∞ = 32.13 cm, K = 0.124 y-1, and t0 = -0.724 y for overall. In this study, age, growth, and sex ratio of 342 golden grey mullets, which were caught in fish traps during fishing season were determined. The samples were between 7.5 and 39.5 cm in length and were between < 1 and 4 years old. The length-weight relationship for this population was calculated as W = 0.01*L2.93, L∞ = 43.2 cm, K = 0.33 yr-1, and to = -0.30 yr. A total of 1096 spotted flounder (Citharus linguatula Linnaeus, 1758) were caught in Edremit Bay from September 1998 to September 2000. Length-weight relationships, age, growth, mortality and sex ratio of the samples were investigated. Within the population of this species, most of the individuals in our samples ranged from 100 to 160 mm (69.63%), the minimum and maximum total lengths of the specimens being 69 and 222 mm, respectively. Positive allometric growth was observed for male, female and all fish. Age distribution of the samples was from I to IV. There was no significant difference between observed and calculated (von Bertalanffy and back calculation) average total lengths of the age groups (P {beta} 0.05). The sex ratio (females:males) was 1:1.27. The total (Z), natural (M) and fishing mortality (F) rates, and the exploitation ratio (E) for all individuals were estimated respectively as Z = 0.60, M = 0.75, F = 0.15 and E = 0.25. The age, growth and condition factors were described for Capoeta capoeta angorae from the upper parts of the River Ceyhan from May 2000 to February 2001 and the differences in length in the same age group between streams and reservoirs populations were compared. A total of 629 C. c. angorae were examined and the ratio of males to females was estimated as 1.25:1.00. Eleven age groups were recorded from 0+ to 10+ years old and two- and three-year-old fish dominated the sample. The fork lengths (FLs) ranged from 3.1 to 41.5 cm and the majority of the samples were composed of 14.0 and 16.0 cm FL groups. The length-weight relationships were described as W = 0.0242 x FL2.8067 (r = 0.9776) for males and W = 0.0348 x FL2.6811 (r = 0.9841) for females. Growth was expressed in length and the von Bertalanffy growth parameters were estimated as L\infity =47.3 cm, K = 0.133, t0 = -0.761 for males and L\infity = 62.3 cm, K = 0.101, t0 = -0.598 for females. Growth performance index were also estimated as j&’ = 5.693 for males and j&’ = 5.970 for females. The differences in length in the same age groups between stream and reservoir populations were statistically significant (P < 0.05) and the FLs of reservoir populations were higher than those of the streams. The condition factors ranged from 0.687 to 2.615 with a mean value of 1.413 and the differences in condition between males and females were significant in the first and second age groups, while they were not significant at the other ages. The biology of the tub gurnard, Chelidonichthys lucernus (Linnaeus, 1758), has been studied on data collected between November 1996 and November 1997 from the Sea of Marmara. Totally, 224 tub gurnards were sampled. The age, growth, length-weight relationship, condition factor, male to female ratio, first sexual maturity age, length and reproduction period were examined. The age composition of samples ranged between 1 and 6 years. Total length ranged between 12.3 and 41.5 cm, while weight varied from 15 to 617 g. The total length-weight relationship was estimated as W=0.0092L3.019. The parameters of the von Bertalanffy growth equation were: L\infity = 61.3 cm, K = 0.17 year -1, t0 = -0.04 year. The observed sex ratio was 1 female: 0.5 male in the samples. The lengths and ages at first maturity (LT50) for tub gurnard were 18.97 cm and 3 years for females, 18.50 cm and 3 years for males. The age composition, growth parameters, spawning season, sex ratio, length at first sexual maturity and fecundity of tub gurnard (Chelidonichthys lucerna) caught from the Bay of Iskenderun in the eastern Mediterranean Sea were investigated. Females and males made up 58.2% and 41.8%, respectively, of the particular population of the species. The total length of females ranged from 8.0 cm to 30.3 cm, and of males from 8.3 cm to 21.2 cm. The length (L) - weight (W) relationships for males and females were estimated as W = 0.0089*L3.01 and W = 0.0095*L2.99, respectively. The age data derived from otolith readings were used to estimate the growth parameters of the von Bertalanffy equation. The estimated parameters were: L∞ = 45.0 cm, K = 0.221 and to = -0.581. The maximum age was 4 for females and 3 for males. The 1-year age group was dominant in both females and males. Males matured at a total length of 18 cm, while females matured at 20 cm. The monthly values of the gonadosomatic index indicated that spawning occurred mainly between December and May. The fecundity (F) - length relationship was logF = -2.512 + 5.58logL (r = 0.94). Gambusia affinis, Baird & Girard, 1853, originally comes from North America and has been distributed all over the world for the biological control of mosquitoes. This study aimed to determine some biological properties, such as structure, age, growth and reproduction of the populations of G. affinis in Turkey. For this purpose, between November 1998 and October 1999, 2026 mosquitofish were caught in the wetlands of Fethiye-Akgöl, Dalaman and Ortaca in Mugla province in the western Mediterranean region of Turkey and the data found were compared. In the Fethiye-Akgöl population the percentage of the 0+ age group was 97.59%, and of the 1+ age group was 2.41%; in the Dalaman population percentage of the 0+ age group was 99.71%, and of the 1+ age group was 0.29%; in the Ortaca population percentage of the 0+ age group was 94.37%, and of the 1+ age group was 5.63%. The mosquitofish population in Fethiye was 81.42% female and 18.58% male, in Dalaman 71.55% female and 28.45% male, and in Ortaca 70.42% female and 29.58% male. Total length (TL) in the Fethiye-Akgöl population was 1.3-5.5 cm, in Dalaman 1.7-5.5 cm and in Ortaca 1.3-5.8 cm; and total weight (W) in Fethiye-Akgöl was 0.02-2.31 g, in Dalaman 0.06-2.58 g and in Ortaca 0.02-5.83 g. In each population the gonadosomatic index (GSI) increased in March and April, had a slight decrease in May and increased again in mid May. At the beginning of January the GSI of the Fethiye population started to decrease again and the GSI decreased in Dalaman and Ortaca populations beginning in mid July. This shows that the mosquitofish is a bivoltine species. The average number of eggs belonging to each age group was 21.90 (0+) and 52.81 (1+) in Fethiye, 27.11 (0+) and 91.0 (1+) in Dalaman, and 28.24 (0+) and 81.78 (1+) in Ortaca. Average fecundity per gram was between 27.71 (0+) and 31.71 (1+) in Fethiye-Akgöl, between 42.97 (0+) and 39.99 (1+) in Dalaman, and between 35.28 (0+) and 37.39 (1+) in Ortaca. The relationship of age, growth and length-weight was analyzed for Chalcalburnus mossulensis from the Askale region of Karasu River from November 1995 to October 1997. Fish in the sample groups were between 1 and 7 years and the ratio of males to females was 1:1.08. Von Bertalanffy equations were used to find the growth in length for both sexes. The growth parameters for males and females were estimated to be L∞ = 19.88869 cm, K = 0.1867795 and t0 = -2.3 and L∞ = 21.8742 cm, K = 0.168014 and t0 = -2.1, respectively. Bu çalışma ile, Eylül 2017–Temmuz 2018 tarihleri arasında İzmir Körfezi’nde avlanan balıkçılardan temin edilen 392 adet kral balığı (Caranx rhonchus)’nın büyüme ve beslenme özelliklerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Elde edilen örneklerin büyüme parametrelerini oluşturmak üzere total boy ve vücut ağırlığı, yaş tayinleri için otolitleri ve mide içeriğinin saptanması için de mide örnekleri alınmıştır. Toplam 392 bireyin 184’ünün dişi, 149’unun erkek ve 59 bireyin cinsiyetinin belirsiz olduğu saptanmıştır. Örneklerin total boy değerleri 12,8–36,0 cm ve ağırlıkları 23,51 – 455,44 g olarak ölçülmüştür. Boy-ağırlık ilişkisi denklemleri: Dişi bireyler için W=0,0141*L2,900 (R²=0,965), erkek bireyler için W=0,0168*L2,842 (R²=0,967) ve tüm bireyler için W=0,0132*L2,926 (R²=0,968) olarak hesaplanmıştır. Yaş tayinleri sonucunda bireylerin I-V yaş grupları arasında oldukları saptanmıştır. Von Bertalanffy büyüme parametreleri dişi, erkek ve tüm bireyler için sırasıyla; L∞=39,54 cm, K=0,2156 yıl-1, to=-0,963 yıl, L∞=40,86 cm, K=0,2181 yıl-1, to=-1,0584 yıl, L∞=41,12 cm, K=0,2061 yıl-1, to=-1,0548 yıl; Gelişim performansı indeksi (Ф) değerleri ise 2,555, 2,532 ve 2,542 olarak bulunmuştur. 125 bireye ait mide içeriği incelemeleri sonucunda, bu türün İzmir Körfezi’nde baskın olarak Crustacea (%N=52,30; % F=36,0) ile beslendiği saptanmıştır., The aim of this study is to investigate the growth and feeding characteristics of 392 false scad (Caranx rhonchus) obtained from commercial fishermen caught in İzmir Bay between September 2017 and July 2018. To generate the growth parameters of the obtained samples, total length and body weight has been measured; otoliths were taken for age estimation and stomach samples were taken for the examination of stomach contents. A total of the 392 individuals has been determined as 184 were female, 149 were male and 59 individuals were undetermined gender. The total length values of all individuals were between 12.8- 36.0 cm and their weights were measured as 23.51- 455.44 g. Length-weight relationship equations has been calculated for female individuals W=0.0141*L2.900 (R²=0.965), for males W=0.0168*L2.842 (R²=0.967), and for all individuals W=0.0132*L2.926 (R²=0.968). As a result of age estimation, it was found that individuals were in I-V age range. Von Bertalanffy growth parameters for female, male and all individuals respectively; L∞=39.54 cm, K=0.2156 years-1, to=-0.963 years, L∞=40.86 cm, K=0.2181 years-1, to=-1.0584 years, L∞=41.12 cm, K=0.2061 years-1, to=-1.0548 years; index of growth performance (Ф) values were found as 2.555, 2.532 and 2.542. As a result of the stomach contents of 125 individuals, it was found that this species was predominantly fed with Crustacea (%N=52.30; %F=36.0) in İzmir Bay.

Bu çalışmada, Marmara Gölü (Manisa)’ndeki Eğrez (Vimba vimba L., 1758)’in yaş, büyüme ve üreme özelliklerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Balık örnekleri, değişik göz açıklığında fanyalı ve fanyasız ağlar kullanılarak, Mart 2012-Şubat 2013 tarihleri arasında aylık olarak yakalanmıştır. Balık örnekleri % 4’lük formol ile fiske edilerek laboratuvara getirilmiştir. İncelenen 123 bireyin Dişi:Erkek oranı 1:0,58 bulunmuştur. Ki-kare testi eşey oranlarında istatistiksel açıdan fark olduğunu göstermiştir. Yaşların belirlenmesi için pullardan yararlanılmıştır. Maksimum yaş dişi bireyler için 5, erkek bireyler için 4 olarak bulunmuştur. Total boy dağılımı 14,2-24,9 cm, ağırlık dağılımı ise 36,30-236,90 g arasında dağılım göstermiştir. Boy-ağırlık ilişkisi tüm bireyler için, W=0,0049 L3,3118 (R2= 0,973) olarak bulunmuştur. Kondisyon faktörü 0,92-1,54 arasında değişim göstermiştir. Aylık GSI değerlerine göre, üremenin Nisan-Mayıs ayları arasında gerçekleştiği belirlenmiştir.

Bu tezde, Eylül 2017 - Ağustos 2018 tarihleri arasında Orta Ege Denizi'nde mevsimsel olarak ticari trol balıkçılığı yapan tekneler tarafından avlanmış olan 558 adet fener balığının boy, ağırlık, yaş, eşey dağılımları ve oranları, boy – yaş, boy- ağırlık ilişkileri ve üreme dönemlerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma bölgesinden yakalanan örneklerin, % 48,9 u (273 adet) erkek, % 46,8'i (261 adet) ise dişi birey olduğu ve % 4,3'ü (24 adet) ise cinsiyeti belirlenememiştir. İlisyumdan yapılan yaş tahinleri ile II-XI yaş grubuna dahil örnekler bulunmuştur. Tüm bireylerin total boy (cm) ve ağırlık (g) değerleri sırasıyla 12 – 65 cm ve 24,5 – 4682 gr olarak bulunmuştur. Dişi(d), erkek(e) ve tüm bireyler(tb) için boy-ağırlık ilişkisi denklemleri sırasıyla; d: W = 0,0135*L3,0227, e: W = 0,0289*L2,7576 ve tb: W = 0,0165*L2,9478 olarak bulunmuştur. En yüksek gonadosomatik indeks (GSI) değeri ise 1,48 ile ilkbahar dönemine aittir. Tüm bireyler için sonsuz boy L∞=74.83 cm, K=0.18 yaş, t0= -0.34 ve ϕ =2.99 yaş olarak bulunmuştur., In this thesis, a total of 558 specimens were collected by the vessels engaged in commercial trawl fishing in the Central Aegean Sea between September 2017 and August 2018, in order to determine of biological features that includes their length,weight, age, sex ratios, lenght – age, weight – age, lenght – weight relationships and spawning periods. % 48,9 (n=273) of specimens caught in the research area were males, % 46,8 (n=261) were females and % 4,3 (n=24) specimens whose gender could not be determined. By reading of illicium individuals were found within II-XI age groups. Total lengths and weight ranged between 12 – 65 cm ve 24,5 – 4682 g respectively. W = 0,0135*L3,0227, W = 0,0289*L2,7576 and W = 0,0165*L2,9478 have given respectively. The highest gonadosomatic index (GSI) value is 1.48 for the spring term. Growth parameters of the population were found L∞=74.83 cm, K=0.18, t0= -0.34 and ϕ =2.99.

Bu çalışmada, Ocak-Aralık 2005 tarihleri arasında İzmir Körfezi’nde (Ege Denizi) Kırlangıç balığının (Trigloporus lastoviza) yaş, büyüme ve ölüm oranları tespit edilmiştir. Örneklerin çatal boyları dişi bireylerde 11.9 cm ile 19.8 cm, erkek bireylerde ise 8.2 cm ile 18.2 cm arasında dağılım göstermiştir. Cinsiyet oranı 1:1.07 (dişi: erkek). dir. Otolitlerden yapılan yaş tayini ile maksimum yaş dişilerde 6, erkeklerde 5 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Boy-ağırlık ilişkisi ile boya göre von Bertalanffy büyüme denklemleri dişi, erkek ve tüm bireyler için sırasıyla; W=0.0116*FL3.032 (r=0.985); W=0.0136*FL2.971 (r=0.979), W=0.0117*FL 3.030 (r=0.984) ve Lt=26.80 (1-e-0.152 (t-2.822)), Lt=19.59 (1-e-0.361 (t-1.370)), Lt=23.28 (1-e-0.235 (t-1.887)) olarak bulunmuştur. Tüm bireyler için büyüme performans indeks değeri (Φ) 2.105 olarak saptanmıştır. Toplam, doğal ve balıkçılık ölüm oranları sırasıyla, 1.25, 0.62 ve 0.63 yıl-1 olarak hesaplanmıştır

Uranoscopus scaber, Neogobius melanostomus and Gobius nigerare called non-commercial fish species and also caught as discarded in Turkishfisheries. Samplings were carried out by bottom trawl, gillnet, purse seine netoperations in the Turkish Black Sea coasts. The results of the study showedthat the age of these species were 0-V ages for Uranoscopus scaber and Gobiusniger, and 0-VII ages for Neogobiusmelanostomus for both sexes. The von Bertalanffy growth parameters, totalmortality rate (Z), natural mortality rate (M) and fishing mortality rate (F)were calculated for each species separately., Uranoscopus scaber, Neogobius melanostomus ve Gobius nigerTürkiye balıkçılığında ekonomik olmayan balıklar olarak adlandırılmakta veıskarta edilmektedirler. Bu çalışmanın örnekleri Karadeniz kıyısında kullanılandip trolü, uzatma ağı ve gırgır ağları ile elde edilmiştir. Bu çalışmadan eldeedilen sonuçlar Uranoscopus scaber veGobius niger türünün yaşlarının 0-Varasında, Neogobius melanostomustürünün ise 0-VII yaş arasında değiştiğini göstermiştir. Von Bertalanffy büyümeparametreleri, toplam ölüm oranları, doğal ölüm oranları ve balıkçılık ölümoranları ise her tür için ayrı ayrı hesaplanmıştır.

Bu çalışma. beyaz sokar balığı Siganus rivulatus Forsskal.1775'in İskenderun Körfezi'nde bazı biyolojik özelliklerini belirlemek amacıyla gerçekleştirildi. Şubat 2014- Haziran 2015 tarihleri arasında alınan aylık örneklemeler ile 531 adet birey incelenmiştir. Yapılan çalışmada Siganus rivulatus'un yaş, boy, ağırlık. kondisyon faktörü ve gonadosomatik indeks değerleri belirlenmiştir. İncelen örneklerin 166 (%31.19) adet dişi ve 365 (%68.49) adet erkek bireylerden oluşmaktadır. Bireylerin otolitlerinin okunması sonucunda tüm bireylerin; 1 ve 10 yaş grupları arasında dağılım gösterdikleri belirlenmiştir. Dişi ve erkek bireylerde minimum ve maksimum toplam boy değerleri sırasıyla 8.5-29.5 cm ve 8.5-26.9 cm iken; yine erkek ve dişi bireylerde minimum ve maksimum ağırlık değerleri sırasıyla17.66-284.90 gr ve 8.37-249.49 gr olduğu saptanmıştır. Dişi ve erkek bireyler için hesaplanan boy-ağırlık ilişkisi denklemleri sırasıyla W=0.013×L2.982 ve W=0.015xL2.934 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Von Bertanffy dişi bireyler için boyca büyüme değerleri. L∞ = 48.96cm. K= 0.054 yıl -1. t 0 = - 3.495 olaraksaptanmıştır. Erkek birey için. L∞ =43.534. K=0.059 yıl-1 t0=-3.646 yıl. tüm bireyler için L∞ =47.24. K=0.054 yıl-1 t0 = -3.615 yıl. olarak hesaplanmıştır. Kondisyon Faktörü. dişi bireylerde ortalama; 1.54±0.09. erkek bireylerde 1.48±0.501. tüm bireylerde 1.51±0.300 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Aylık gonadosomatik indeks (GSI) değerleri S. rivulatus için Nisan-Mayıs-Haziran ayları arasında ürediğini göstermiştir., The aim of this study is determine some biological characteristics of Siganus rivulatus Bleeker. 1849 in Iskenderun Bay. A total of 531 individuals were examined by sampling monthly February 2014–Jun 2015 in the years. The length, weight, age. weight-age, length-weight, relationships condition factor and gonadosomatic index values of Siganus rivulatus were determined. The examined sample includes 166 (31.19%) female and 365 (68.49%) male specimens. The total length range for females and males was 8.5-29.5cm and 8.5-26.9 cm. respectively; and the weight range for females and males was 17.66-284.90 g and 8.37-248.25 g respectively. The length-weight relationships computed for female and male specimens was respectively as; W=0.013×L2.982 and W=0.015xL2.934. The minimum and maximum ages determined based on otholit readings for females and males ranged from 0 to 10. The growth of Siganus rivulatus was determined as izometric allometric. The computed von Bertalanffy growth parameters were estiamted as year for females. L∞ = 48.96cm. K= 0.054 year -1. t 0 = - 3.495. L∞ =45.534. K=0.059 year-1 t0=-3.646 year for males and for L∞ =47.24. K=0.054 year-1 t0 = -3.615 all population. The mean condition factor of females. males and all population were found as. 1.54±0.09 and 1.48±0.501 and 1,51±0,300 respectively. The monthly GSI values are showed spawns of Siganus rivulatus between April-May-June.

Bu çalışma, Mayıs 2011-Eylül 2012 tarihleri arasında Uzunçayır Baraj Gölü’nde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada toplam 446 adet (288 erkek, 158 dişi) Capoeta umbla (Heckel, 1843) incelenmiş, örneklerin I-XII yaş grupları arasında dağılım gösterdiği ve dişi/erkek oranının 1:0.55 olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Total boy değerlerinin erkek bireylerde 12.0-42.7 cm ve dişi bireylerde 14.6-44.6 cm; ağırlık değerlerinin erkeklerde 15.8-605.0 g ve dişilerde 28.0-654.0 g; kondisyon faktörü değerlerinin ise erkeklerde 0.846-0.952, dişilerde 0.762-0.980 arasında değiştiği saptanmıştır. Boy-ağırlık ilişkisi denklemi erkeklerde W=0.0111TL2.9305 (R2=0.95), dişilerde W=0.0112TL2.9277 (R2=0.96) ve populasyon genelinde W=0.011TL2.9328 (R2=0.96) olarak belirlenmiştir. Populasyonun von Bertalanffy büyüme parametreleri; L∞=46.85 cm, k=0.14 yıl-1, t0=1.95 yıl, W∞=874.14 g ve doğal ölüm oranı (M) 0.321 yıl-1 olarak belirlenmiştir. Büyüme performans indeksi (Ǿ) erkekler için 2.450 ve dişiler için 2.548 olarak hesaplanmıştır., This study was conducted in Uzuncayir Dam Lake between May 2011 and September 2012. A total of 446 specimens (288 male, 158 female) of C. umbla (Heckel, 1843), which ranged between I-XII age groups, were investigated in study and male/female ratio was determined to be 1:0.55. Total length values ranged from 12.0 to 42.7 cm for males, from 14.6 to 44.6 cm for females; weight values ranged from 15.8 to 605.0 g for males, from 28.0 to 654.0 g for females; condition factor values ranged from 0.846 to 0.952 for males and from 0.762 to 0.980 for females. Length-weight relationship equation was determined as W=0.0111TL2.9305 (R2 =0.95) for males, W=0.0112TL2.9277 (R2 =0.96) for females and W=0.011TL2.9328 (R2 =0.96) for all population. The von Bertalanffy growth parameters were found L∞=46.85 cm, k=0.14 year-1 , t0=-1.95 year, W∞=874.14 g and natural mortality rate (M) 0.321 year-1 for all population. Bu tezde, Aralık 2012 – Mart 2014 periyodunda, İzmir Körfezi'nden mevsimsel olarak avlanan balıkçılardan temin edilen 439 adet Fas mercanı Dentex maroccanus bireyinin biyolojik ve ekolojik özellikleri araştırılmıştır. Örneklerin büyüme parametrelerinin belirlenmesi için total boy, çatal boy, standart boy, vücut ağırlığı ve gonad ağırlığı, bazı morfometrik ölçümleri, diyet kompozisyonunun saptanması için mide örnekleri ve ayrıca yaş tayini için otolitleri alınmıştır. Popülasyonda cinsiyetleri tayin edilen 346 bireyin 206'sı dişi, 140'ı erkek olarak belirlenmiştir; 93 bireyin ise cinsiyeti belirlenememiştir. Tüm bireylerin total boy (cm) ve ağırlık (g) değerleri sırasıyla 7,0-22,1 cm ve 9,0-160,6 g'dır. Dişi, erkek ve tüm bireyler için boy-ağırlık ilişkisi denklemleri sırasıyla; W=0,0194*L2.924, W=0,0269*L2.789 ve W=0,0228*L2.856 şeklinde verilmiştir. En yüksek kondisyon faktörü 1,59 ile ilkbahar; en yüksek gonadosomatik indeks değeri ise 1,63 ile yaz dönemine aittir. Otolitler kullanılarak yapılan yaş tayinleri sonucunda bireylerin I - V yaş aralığında olduğu belirlenmiştir. Popülasyonda %39 ile II yaş grubu yüksek oranda saptanmıştır. Tüm bireyler için sonsuz boy L∞=27.43 cm, K=0.21 yaş, to= -0.67 yaş olarak hesaplanmıştır. Diyet kompozisyonu analizine göre tür crustacea, mollusca ve pisces olmak üzere üç esas besin grubunu tükettiği belirlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak, İzmir Körfezi'nde dağılım gösteren tür ile ilgili olarak ilk defa elde edilen bulguların, ülkemiz denizlerinde ekonomik öneme sahip olan bu türün yönetim stratejisinin geliştirilmesinde faydalı olacağı umut edilmektedir., In this thesis, biological and ecological characteristics of Morocco dentex Dentex maroccanus, were studied in the Izmir Bay, Aegean sea coast of Turkey. A total of 439 specimens were collected during the period December 2012 to March 2014 from trawl net operating in the Izmir Bay. Total length, fork length, standard lenght, body and gonad weights, some morphometrical mesaurements for growth parameters, stomach samples for diet composition and also otoliths are taken fora ge distirbution. In this population, sexes are designated for 346 individuals, 206 females and 140 males have been indentified. Total lengths and weight ranged between 7.0-22.13 cm and 9.0-160.61 g respectively. Lenght-weight relationships for females, males and both sexes, W=0,0194*L2.924, W=0,0269*L2.789 and W=0,0228*L2856. have given respectively. Age distribution of the samples ranged from I to V years (otolith readings). The II years group has highest ratio in this population with %39. Growth parameters of the population were L∞=27.43 cm, K=0.21 year ,to= -0.67 years for both sexes. Consdering the type of diet composition has been identified as the three main food groups for consumpiton, including crustacea, mollusca and pisces. In conclusion, these novel evidences regarding to this species which has economic value and is spread across the Izmir Bay, would hopefully be useful for developing management strategies for throughout Turkey and the world.

Çalışmada toplam 349 adet (222 erkek, 127 dişi) Capoeta trutta (Heckel, 1843) örneği incelenmiş, örneklerin I-XII yaş grupları arasında dağılım gösterdiği ve dişi/erkek oranının 0,57 olduğu belirlenmiştir. Total boy değerlerinin erkek bireylerde 17,2-41,1 cm ve dişi bireylerde 21,4-43,1 cm; ağırlık değerlerinin erkeklerde 48,0-612,0 g ve dişilerde 86,0-747,0 g; kondisyon faktörü değerlerinin ise erkekler için 0,882-1,027, dişiler için 0,853-1,007 arasında değiştiği saptanmıştır. Boy-ağırlık ilişkisi denklemi erkeklerde W= 0,0096TL2,9856 (R2=0,93), dişilerde W= 0,0052TL3,1644 (R2=0,93) ve populasyon genelinde W= 0,0082TL3,0327 (R2=0,94) olarak tespit edilmiştir. VBBD parametreleri tüm populasyon için L∞ =49,58, K=0,09, t0 =-4,00, W∞ =1109,06 ve doğal ölüm oranı (M) 0,236 olarak tahmin edilmiştir, This study was carried out in Uzunçayýr Dam Lake between May 2011-September 2012. However, 2.9856 2 3.1644 2 length-weight relationship equation was determined as W= 0.0096TL (R = 0.93) for males, W= 0.0052TL (R = 3.0327 2 0.93) females and W= 0.0082TL (R =0.94) for all population. The VBBD parameters were found L? = 49.58, K= 0.09, t = -4.00, W? = 1109.06 and natural mortality rate (M) 0.236 for all population.

Bu çalışmada, Eylül 2007-Ağustos 2008 tarihleri arasında, Seyhan Baraj Gölü’nde dağılım gösteren 2470 adet kadife balığı (Tinca tinca L.,1758)’na ait boy, ağırlık, yaş ve büyüme özellikleri incelenmiştir. Bunların 345 (228 dişi, 117 erkek) adedinin ise üreme ve beslenme özellikleri belirlenmiştir. İncelenen örneklerin 1227 adedinin dişi, 1243 adedinin ise erkek bireylerden oluştuğu; dişi ve erkek bireylerde minimum ve maksimum total boy değerleri sırasıyla 12,0-29,70 cm ve 12,00-27,40 cm iken; yine dişi ve erkek bireylerde minimum ve maksimum ağırlık değerlerinin sırasıyla 23,72-368,00 g ve 21,40-310,00 g olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Dişi ve erkek bireyler için hesaplanan boy-ağırlık ilişkisi denklemleri sırasıyla W=0,021*L 2.890 ve W=0,014*L 3.000 olarak bulunmuştur. Puldan yaş okumaları sonucunda, dişi ve erkek bireyler için minimum I ve maksimum V yaş grubu belirlenmiştir. von Bertalanffy boyca büyüme eşitlikleri dişi bireyler için L?=56,31cm, K=0,103 yıl-1, t0=-1,617 yıl; erkek bireyler için ise L?=50,55 cm, K=0,112 yıl-1, t0=-1,473 yıl olarak hesaplanmıştır. Aylık gonadosomatik indeks (GSI) değerleri, bu balığın Mayıs- Ağustos ayları arasında ürediğini göstermiştir. Besin içeriğinin Bacillariophyta (% 69,11), Chlorophyta (% 26,08), Cyanophyta (% 2,93), Dinophyta (% 0,76), Euglenophyta (% 0,25), Rotifera (% 0,01), Cladocera (% 0,10), Copepoda (% 0,002), Difflugia (% 0,003), Sucul Böcekler (% 0,003), Bentik Organizma (% 0,002), Cyclops ekstremiteleri ve teşhis edilemeyen yumurta ve bitki parçalarının oluşturduğu belirlenmiştir. Ortalama kondisyon faktörü erkeklerde 1,874±0,023, dişilerde 1,97±0,029 olarak hesaplanmıştır. In this study, September 2007 - August 2008 between the Seyhan Dam Lake in 2470 showing the distribution of the fish pieces Tench (Tinca tinca L., 1758) belonging to length, weight, age and growth properties were examined. 345 of these samples (228 female, 117 male), reproduction and feeding characteristics of the period is determined. The examined sample includes 1227 female and 1243 male specimens. The total length range for females and males was 12.00-29.70cm and 12.00-27.40 cm, respectively; and the weight range for females and males was 23.72-368.00 g and 21.40-310.00 g, respectively. The length-weight relationships computed for female and male specimens was respectively as; W=0.021*L 2.890 and W=0.014*L 3.000 . The minimum and maximum ages determined based on scale readings for females and males ranged from I to V. The computed von Bertalanffy growth parameters was: L?=56.31cm, K=0.103 year-1, t0=-1.617 year for females; and L?=50.55 cm, K=0.112 year-1, t0=-1.473 year for males. The monthly GSI values are showed spawns of this species between May and August. Diet of Tench was found to be composed of Bacillariophyta (69.11%), Chlorophyta (26.08%), Cyanophyta (2.93%), Dinophyta (0.76%), Euglenophyta (0.25%), Rotifera (0.01%), Cladocera (0.10%), Copepoda (0.002%), Difflugia (0.003%), Aquatic Insecta (0.003%) and Benthic Organisms (0.002%). Age, growth, length-weight relationship and reproduction were investigated for striped seabream (Lithognathus mormyrus L., 1758) collected from Beymelek Lagoon (Antalya, Turkey) between February 2006 and January 2007. The ages of striped seabream ranged from 0 to 3 years for males and from 0 to 4 years for females. Their total lengths and weights ranged between 14.4 and 26.4 cm and 42 and 297 g for males and 14.3 and 27.4 cm and 40 and 329 g for females, respectively. The growth parameters of the von Bertalanffy equation were: L\infinity = 28.3 cm, K = 0.456 year-1 and t0 = -1.859 year for males, L\infinity = 28.1 cm, K = 0.466 year-1, and t0 = -1.982 year for females and L\infinity = 31.5 cm, K = 0.319 year-1 and t0 = -2.201 year for all individuals (male, female, and immature). The fitted length-weight relationships of males and females were W = 0.0089×L3.1599 (r2 = 0.9591) and W = 0.0076×L3.2187 (r2 = 0.8982), respectively. Weight increased positive allometrically with the total length for males, while isometrically for females. First sexual maturity length was determined as 17.8 cm for male and 18.5 cm for female striped seabream in Beymelek Lagoon. According to trends of GSI values, it was assumed that the spawning was in April and May., Şubat 2006 - Ocak 2007 tarihleri arasında Beymelek Lagünü’nden yakalanan mırmır balıklarının (Lithognathus mormyrus L., 1758) yaş, büyüme, boy-ağırlık ilişkisi ve üremesi incelenmiştir. Mırmır balıklarının yaşları erkekler için 0 ile 3, dişiler için 0 ile 4 arasında değişmiştir. Total boy ve ağırlıkların da erkekler için 14,4-26,4 cm ve 42-297 g, dişiler için 14,3-27,4 cm and 40-329 g arasında değiştiği saptanmıştır. Von Bertalanffy büyüme denkleminin parametreleri erkekler için L∞ = 28,3 cm, K = 0,456 yıl-1 ve t0 = -1,859 yıl, dişiler için L∞ = 28,1 cm, K = 0,466 yıl-1 ve t0 = -1,982 yıl ve tüm bireyler (erkek, dişi ve eşeysel olgunluğa erişmemiş) için L∞ = 31,5 cm, K = 0,319 year-1 and t0 = -2,201 şeklinde bulunmuştur. Boy-ağırlık ilişkisi ise erkek ve dişi bireyler için sırasıyla W = 0,0089×L3,1599 (r2 =0,9591) ve W = 0,0076×L3,2187 (r2 =0,8982) olarak belirlenmiştir. Ağırlığın boy ile erkek bireylerde positive allometrik, dişi bireylerde ise isometric olarak arttığı saptanmıştır. İlk eşeysel olgunluk boyu erkeklerde 17,8 cm, dişilerde 18,5 cm olarak bulunmuştur. Üremenin ise, GSI değerlerinin seyrine göre Nisan ve Mayıs ayında gerçekleştiği tahmin edilmiştir.

In this study, the age and growth of Himri Barbel (Barbus luteus Heckel, 1843) were determined based on specimens collected from Orontes River-Turkey, during the period from February 2004 to January 2005. This population comprised 7 age groups of males and 9 of females. The male and female ratio was 1:1.26 (M:F). Total length-weight relationship was estimated as W = 0.0129TL2.986 for females, W = 0.0125TL3.003 for males. Growth parameters of the von Bertalanffy equation were computed for females and males as: L∞= 38.77, W∞= 714.23, k = 0.300, t0 = -1.69 and L∞ = 40.32, W∞ = 819.35, k = 0.247, t0 = -1.58, respectively. Maximum observed age was 9, suggesting that the species is long-lived. Bu çalışmada, Asi nehrinden avlanan Sarıbenli (Barbus luteus) balığının Şubat 2004 - Ocak 2005 tarihleri arasındaki yaş ve büyüme özellikleri belirlenmiştir. Populasyon, erkek bireylerde 7, dişi bireyler ise 9 yaş grubunu kapsamaktadır. Erkek-dişi birey oranı 1:1,26 (E:D) olarak bulunmuştur. Toplam boy-ağırlık ilişkisi dişiler için W = 0,0129TL2.986, erkekler için ise W = 0,0125TL3.003 denklemleriyle tahmin edilmiştir. Von Bertalanffy büyüme parametreleri dişilerde: L∞ = 38,77, W∞ = 714,23, k=0,300, t0 = -1,69 ve erkeklerde L∞ = 40,32, W∞ = 819,35, k = 0.247, t0 = -1,58 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Age, sex, mortality, and growth characteristics of brown trout ( Salmo trutta ) from the upper Aksu Stream were investigated. Females and males comprised 52.13% and 47.87% of the population, respectively. Age ranged from 1 to 8. The fork length (L) and total weight (W) were 5.7-22.8 cm and 2.9-142.6 g, respectively. Length-weight relationships were W = 0.015 × L 2.939 , W = 0.015 × L 2.928 , and W = 0.015 × L 2.932 for females, males, and overall, respectively. The estimated von Bertalanffy growth parameters were L ∞ = 33.27 cm, K = 0.107 y -1 , and t 0 = –1.046 y for females; L ∞ = 29.50 cm, K = 0.143 y -1 , and t 0 = –0.562 y for males; and L ∞ = 32.13 cm, K = 0.124 y -1 , and t 0 = –0.724 y for overall. Phi prime ( Φ `) was 2.09 for females, males, and overall. Instantaneous total mortality rate (Z) was 0.58 y -1 ., Yukarı Aksu Çayı’nda yaşayan alabalıklar›n (Salmo trutta) yaş, boy, cinsiyet, büyüme ve ölüm oranları incelenmiştir. Dişi ve erkekler populasyonun sırasıyla % 52,13 ve % 47,87’sini oluşturmuştur. Yaş 1-8 arasında tespit edilmiştir. Çatal boy (L) ve toplam ağırlık (W) 5,7-22,8 cm ve 2,9-142,6 g arasında değişim göstermiştir. Boy-ağırlık dişi, erkek ve tüm populasyon için sırasıyla W = 0,015 × L 2,939 , W = 0,015 × L 2,928 ve W = 0,015 × L 2,932 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Şubat 1998-Ocak 1999 tarihleri arasında aylık periyotlarla gerçekleştirilen bu çalışmada tatlısu kefali (Leuciscus cephalus)’nin büyüme karakterleri incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla değişik göz açıklığına sahip çeşitli ağlarla yakalanan 528 birey incelenmiştir. Tatlısu kefali populasyonunun %40.72’sinin dişi, %59.28’inin erkek bireylerden oluştuğu saptanmıştır. Çatal boy dağılımı 13.2-23.1 cm ve ağırlık dağılımı 41.70- 260.10 g arasında değişmektedir. Tüm bireyler için boy-ağırlık ilişkisi parametreleri a=0.015 ve b=3.04 olarak, von Bertalanffy büyüme parametreleri de L?= 29.81 cm ve W?= 485.49 g, k=0.151 $y^{-1}$, to= -3.535 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Ayrıca, total mortalite oranı %38.39, doğal mortalite oranı %28.51 ve balıkçılık mortalite oranı %9.88 olarak saptanmıştır., Growth characteristics of the Chub (Leuciscus cephalus) sampled monthly between February 1998-January 1999 were investigated in this study. For this purpose, 528 speciemens were captured with the seines having various mesh sizes. The sex ratio of the chub population is calculated as 40.72% for females and 59.28% for males. Fork length ranged from 13.2 to 23.1 cm and weight ranged from 41.7 to 260.1 g. The length-weight relation was found as W= 0.01596 $L^{3.04}$ for all individuals, and the von Bertalanffy growth parameters were computed as L∞= 29.81cm and W∞= 485.49 g, k= 0.151 $year^{-1}$ , t0=- 3.535 year. Furthermore, the ratios of total mortality, natural mortality and fishing mortality were determined as 38.39%, 28.51% and 9.88%, respectively.

Antalya Körfezi'nde populasyonu gittikçe artmakta olan Etrumeus teres Doğu Akdeniz'e Kızıl Deniz'den göç eden (Lesepsiyen) bir balık türüdür. E. teres türünün Akdeniz'e yerleşmesi ekosistemdeki diğer türlerle gireceği rekabet ihtimali açısından populasyonun izlenmesini gerektirmektedir. Konuyla ilgili yeterli araştırma olmaması nedeniyle bu çalışma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Antalya Körfezi'nden 438 adet E.teres bireyinin boy, büyüme, yaş kompozisyonu, kondüsyon faktörü, eşey oranı incelendi. Dişiler bireylerin %55.7'sini, erkekler %44.3'ünü oluşturdu. Min ve max. standart boy dişiler için 9.5-22.5 cm, erkekler için 9.5-21.5 cm'dir. Populasyonda en yoğun çıkan boy grubu dişiler için 15.5-17.5 cm ve erkekler için 16.5-17.5 cm'dir. Populasyonda yaşa göre ortalama standart boy değerleri dişi, erkek ve hepsi için sırasıyla I yaş için 14.50,13.96,14.23 cm; n yaş için 17.91,17.90,17.90 cm; m yaş için 20.89,20.87,20.88 cm'dir. Boy-ağırlık ilişkileri erkek, dişi ve tüm bireyler için sırasıyla W= 0.00834 $L^{3.1683}$ , W= 0.00787 $L^{3.19108}$ ve W= 0.00942 $L^{3.12159}$ .Aynı zamanda korelasyon katsayısı 0.99'dur. Büyüme parametre hesaplan tüm bireyler için von Bertalanffy'ye göre $L_infty$ = 33.77 cm, K= 0.20, $t_o$= -1.6313 olarak hesaplandı. Bireyler I ve III yaş arasında plup bunların %44.47'si l yaş ve %47.91'i n yaşında bulundu. Kondüsyon faktörleri I, II ve III yaş için sırasıyla 1.31, 1.35, 1.43 olarak saptandı.Yaş, eşey ve aylara göre bu verilerin istatistik analizleri yapıldı ve bütün gruplar için istatistiksel önemi saptandı, istatistiki açıdan kondüsyon faktörü yaşa ve aylara göre önemli, eşeye göre önemsiz bulundu., Etrumeus teres, whose population in the Gulf of Antalya is gradually increasing, is a fish species which migrates from the Red Sea to the Eastern Mediterranean. The settling of the E. teres species in the Mediterranean makes a close observation of its population necessary from the point of view of the possible competition into which it may enter with other species of the eco-system. This study was carried out due to the lack of sufficient research on this subject. The length, growth, age composition, condition factors, and sex ratio of E. teres were studied on the basis of 438 specimens from the Gulf of Antalya. Females made up 55.7% and males 44.3% of the species. Min. and max. standard length was 9.5-22.5 cm in females, 9.5-21.5 cm in males. In the population the average standard length values according to age for females, males and all specimens combined at age I were 14.50, 13.96, 14.23 cm respectively; at age II these were 17.91, 17.90, 17.90 cm; at age III they were 20.89, 20.87, 20.88 cm The length-weight relationships estimated for males, females and all fish were W= 0.00834 $L^{3.1683}$ , W= 0.00787 $L^{3.19108}$ and W= 0.00942 $L^{3.12159}$ respectively. Growth parameter estimates $L_infty$ = 33.77 cm, K= 0.20, $t_o$ = -1.6313 were calculated according to von Bertalanffy for all fish. Individuals were between I and III years old and 44.47% of them were I year old and 47.91% of them were II years old. The condition factor was found to be significant in relation to age and months, but nonsignificant in relation to sex.

The relationship of age, growth and length-weight was analyzed for Chalcalburnus mossulensis from the Aflkale region of Karasu River from November 1995 to October 1997. Fish in the sample groups were between 1 and 7 years and the ratio of males to females was 1:1.08. Von Bertalanffy equations were used to find the growth in length for both sexes. The growth parameters for males and females were estimated to be L∞ = 19.88869 cm, K = 0.1867795 and t0 = -2.3 and L∞ = 21.8742 cm, K = 0.168014 and t0 = -2.1, respectively. We also found that the length-weight relationships were a = 0.0129 and b = 2.913 for males and a = 0.073 and b = 3.136 for females Karasu nehrinden (Aflkale bölgesi) Kasım 1995 ile Ekim 1997 tarihleri arasında yakalanan Chalcalburnus mossulensis’in yaş, büyüme ve boy-ağırlık ilişkisi araştırıldı. Toplanan örneklerde yaş dağılımının 1-7 arasında değiştirildiği ve erkek:dişi oranının 1:1,08 olduğu tespit edildi. Boyca büyüme her iki cinsiyet için von Bertalanffy denklemi ile ifade edildi. Büyüme parametreleri dişilerde; L∞ = 19,88869 cm, K = 0,1867795, t0 = -2,3, erkeklerde L∞ = 21,8742 cm, K = 0,168014, t0 = -2,1 olarak tespit edildi. Data on age, growth, reproduction, mortality and exploitation were examined for common sole collected in İskenderun Bay from March 2000 to February 2001. The examined individuals were aged between 1 and 8 years. Total length ranged from 8.8 to 28.2 cm. The length-weight relationships for males (a = 0.0117, b = 2.998) and females (a = 0.0091, b = 3.077) showed no significant difference from isometric growth. Von Bertalanffy growth parameters were L\infty = 26.03 cm, k = 0.221 year-1, to = -1.31 for males and L\infty = 29.95 cm, k = 0.181 year-1, to = -1.55 for females. The reproductive activity of the common sole in the Bay of İskenderun took place between April and May, peaking in April. First maturity lengths (Lm) were 14.8 cm for males and 15.2 cm for females. Total (Z), natural (M) and fishing (F) mortalities were Z = 1.32 year-1, M = 0.50 year-1 and F = 0.82 year-1, respectively. This study is based on the examination of 759 chubs from Karasu River (40° 45´ 33´´ E, 39° 56´ 16´´ N) between November 1995 and October 1997. This population comprised seven age groups of males and nine of females. The second age group was dominant in the population. Individuals were composed of 50.46% males and 49.54% females. The male and female ratio was 1:1.019 (M:F). The Von Bertalanffy growth parameters and length-weight relationships were; Lt = 35.8765 (1- e -0.1241(t+1.16660), Wt = 583.2981 (1-e-0.1241(t+1.16660)) 2.952, W = 0.0150 FL2.952 in males and Lt = 41.4154 (1-e-0.1160(t+1.3207)), Wt = 936.3338 (1-e-0.1160(t+1.3207)) 2.980, W = 0.0142 FL2.980 in females, respectively. The condition coefficients of male, female and all specimens were; 1.32, 1.35 and 1.33, respectively. The relationships between fecundity (F) and fish length (FL), fish weight (W), gonad weight (Wo), and fish age (t) were; F = 1.699 FL2.847 (r = 0.813), F = 969.424 Wo 1.019 (r = 0.953), F = 95.669 W0.955 (r = 0.843) and F = 862.017 t1.589 (r = 0.814), respectively. In addition, the relationships between gonad weight and total weight, fork length of samples were; Wo = 0.394 + 0.723 W (r = 0.763) and Wo = -8.953 + 0.894 FL (r = 0.714) in females (in 119 samples), Wt = 1.598 + 0.037 W (r = 0.660) and Wt = -2.965 + 0.429 FL (r = 0.643) in males (in 117 samples), respectively. Fecundity varied from a mean of 5012 eggs per female (III years old) to a mean of 25,000 eggs per female (VIII years old). Egg diameter varied between 100 µm and 137 µm with a mean of 119 µm. The reproduction period of this species inhabiting Karasu River was between May and July, and the first reproduction ages were; age II (for males) and age III (for females). Kasım 1995 ile Ekim 1997 tarihleri arasında Karasu Nehri (40° 45´ 33´´ E, 39° 56´ 16´´ N)’ nda yürütülen bu çalışmada toplam 759 adet tatlı su kefali incelenmiştir. Populasyonda erkeklerin I-VII, diflilerin ise I-IX yaşlar arasında dağılım gösterdiği ve ikinci yaş grubunun dominant olduğu belirlenmiştir. Örneklerin % 50,46’ sı erkek % 49,54’ ü ise dişi bireylerden oluşmakta olup, erkek ve dişi oranı 1:1,019 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Von Bertalanffy büyüme parametreleri ve boy ağırlık ilişkisi sırasıyla erkeklerde Lt = 35,8765 (1-e-0,1241(t+1,16660)), Wt = 583,2981 (1-e-0,1241(t+1,16660)) 2,952 ve W = 0,0150 FL2,952, dişilerde ise Lt = 41,4154 (1- e -0,1160(t+1,3207)), Wt = 936,3338 (1-e-0,1160(t+1,3207)) 2,980 ve W = 0,0142 FL2,980 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Kondisyon faktörü erkek, dişi ve erkek+dişi karışımında sırasıyla 1,32, 1,35 ve 1,33 olarak bulunmuştur. Fekundite (F) ile boy (FL), a¤›rl›k (W), gonad ağrlığını (Wo) ve yaş (t) arasındaki ilişkiler sırasıyla F = 1,699 FL2,847 (r = 0,813), F = 969,424 Wo 1,019 (r = 0,953), F = 95,669 W0,955 (r = 0,843) ve F = 862,017 t1,589 (r = 0,814) olarak hesaplanmıştır. Ayrıca, gonad ağırlığı ile çatal boy ve toplam ağırlık arasındaki ilişkiler sırasıyla dişilerde (119 örnek) Wo = 0,394 + 0,723 W (r = 0,763) ve Wo = -8,953 + 0,894 FL (r = 0,714), erkeklerde ise (117 örnek), Wt = 1,598 + 0,037 W (r = 0,660) ve Wt = -2,965 + 0,429 FL (r = 0,643) olarak belirlenmiştir. Ortalama fekundite III. yaşta 5012 adet/dişi, VIII. yaşta ise 25000 adet/difli olarak bulunmuştur. Ortalama 119 µm olan yumurta çapı 100 ile 137 µm arasında değişmektedir. İlk cinsi olgunluk yaşı erkeklerde II difliler ise III. yaş olarak belirlenmiş olup, yumurtlama Mayıs ve Temmuz ayları arasında gerçekleşmektedir

In this study, the age, growth and reproduction properties of 627 barbels, Barbus plebejus escherichi (Steindachner, 1897), from Oltu Stream in the Çoruh River Basin were investigated during a period from August 1994 to July 1996. The age of this species ranged between age groups 1 and 10, the second age group being dominant. Individuals were composed of 64.59% males and 35.41% females. von Bertalanffy growth parameters and length-weight relationships were Lt=29.35x(1-e-0.139(t+1.640)), Wt=281.11x(1-e-0.139(t+1.640)) 2.843, W=0.0189.FL2.843 (r=0.96) in males and Lt=32.77x(1-e-0.116(t+1.891)), Wt=392.10x(1-e- 0.116(t+1.891)) 2.911, W=0.0152.FL2.911 (r=0.97) in females. Condition coefficients of males and females were calculated to be 1.221 and 1.220 respectively. Sexual maturity was 11.45-13.75 cm fork length (2-3 years old) in males and 13.65-15.95 cm (3-4 years old) in females. Fecundity was calculated to be 1256 (3rd age group)-8445 (7th age group) eggs/female. Fekondite 1256 (3. yaş)- 8445 (7. yaş) adet/birey arasında değişmiştir. Üreme; her iki yılda da su sıcaklığının 14-19ºC olduğu mayıs-temmuz aylarında olduğu belirlenmiştir

47. Age, Growth and Reproduction of Acanthalburnus microlepis, Filippi 1863 from the Yağan Region of the Aras River, Turkey

The age, growth and reproduction characteristics of 1105 Acanthalburnus microlepis from the Ya¤an region of the Aras River, Turkey, were determined from monthly samples. Ages ranged from 1 to 7 years. The sex ratio was approximately 1.0 (51.49 % males, 48.51 % females). Females attained greater size and age than males. Von Bertalanffy growth parameters were: L∞= 29.87 cm, K= 0.1049, to= -1.92. The length-weight relationships for males and females were found to be W=0.0099L3.098 and W=0.0118L3.052 respectively. The condition coefficients of males and females were calculated as 1.192 and 1.209 respectively. Both sexes matured at the age of 2 years. Spawning started in early May and continued to the end of July. Fecundity ranged from 2830 to 9705 eggs/female and correlated significantly with fish length, weight, age and gonad weight Bu araştırmada, Temmuz 1996 ve Haziran 1998 tarihleri arasında Aras Nehri’nin Yağan bölgesinden aylık olarak yakalanan 1105 adet Acanthalburnus microlepis türü incelenmiştir. Örnekler 1-7 yaşlar arasında dağılım göstermiş olup, %51.49’u erkekler, %48.51’i dişilerden oluşmaktadır. Dişiler, erkelerden daha büyük boy ve yaşlara ulaşmış olup, Von Bertalanffy büyüme parametreleri L∞= 29.87 cm, K= 0.1049, to= -1.92 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Boy-ağırlık ilişkileri erkek ve dişiler için sırasıyla; W=0.0099L3.098 ve W=0.0118L3.052 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Her iki cinsiyette de 2 yaşında cinsi olgunluğa ulaşan bireylerde üreme Mayısın ilk haftasında başlayıp, Temmuzun sonuna kadar devam etmiştir. Fekondite 2830-9705 adet/dişi arasında değişmiş olup, balığın boyu, yaşı, gonad ve toplam ağırlığı ile birlikte artmıştır.
