Abstract: International audience; The Shapes Constraint Language (SHACL) is a W3C recommendation which allows to represent constraints in RDF-shape graphs-, and validate RDF data graphs against these constraints. A SHACL validator produces a validation report whose result is false for a shape graph as soon as there is at least one node in the RDF data graph that does not conform to the shape. This Boolean result of the validation of an RDF data graph against an RDF shape graph is not suitable for discovering new high-potential shapes from the RDF data. In this paper, we propose a probabilistic framework to accept shapes with a realistic proportion of nodes in an RDF data graph that does not conform to it. Based on this framework, we propose an extension of the SHACL validation report to express a set of metrics including the generality and likelihood of shapes and we define a method to test a shape as a hypothesis test. Finally, we present the results of experiments conducted to validate a test RDF data graph against a set of shapes.

Abstract: International audience; In recent years, the growing need for easily accessible highquality educational resources, supported by the advances in AI and Web technologies, has stimulated the development of increasingly intelligent learning environments. One of the main requirements of these smart tutoring systems is the capacity to trace the knowledge acquired by users over time, and assess their ability to face a specific Knowledge Component in the future with the final goal of presenting learners with the most suitable educational content. In this paper, we propose a model to predict students' performance based on the description of the whole learning ecosystem, in the form of a RDF Knowledge Graph. Subsequently, we reformulate the Knowledge Tracing task as a Link Prediction problem on such a Knowledge Graph and we predict students' outcome to questions by determining the most probable link between each answer and its correct or wrong realizations. Our first experiments on a real-world dataset show that the proposed approach yields promising results comparable with state-of-the-art models.

Abstract: With the digital transformation, adaptation and development of skills have become key factors in improving employee and company performance. Understanding the needs of employees and helping them achieve their career development goals is a real challenge today. In this work, we share our experience to implement an automatic recommendation system that allows learners to find relevant learning objects according to their learning goals. This matching task is mainly based on determining the semantic similarity between goals and the text of learning objects. We comparatively evaluated three state-of-the-art pre-trained sentence embeddings models for the learning object recommendation task.Experimental results show that using sentence embeddings models in the recommendation process outperforms the Elasticsearch BM25 model generally used in industry., Avec la transformation numérique, l'adaptation et le développement des compétences sont devenus des facteurs majeurs pour améliorer les performances des collaborateurs et des entreprises. Comprendre les besoins des collaborateurs et les aider à atteindre leurs objectifs de développement de carrière est un véritable défi aujourd'hui. Dans ce travail, nous partageons notre expérience pour mettre en place un système de recommandation automatique permettant aux apprenants de trouver des objets d'apprentissage pertinents en fonction de leurs objectifs d'apprentissage. Cette tâche de mise en correspondance se base principalement sur la détermination de la similarité sémantique entre les objectifs et le contenu textuel des objets d'apprentissage. Nous avons évalué de manière comparative trois modèles pré-entraînés de plongement de phrases de l'état de l'art pour la tâche de la recommandation d'objet d'apprentissage. Les résultats des expérimentations montrent que l'utilisation de ces modèles de plongement de phrases dans le processus de recommandation est plus performante que le modèle BM25 d'Elasticsearch classiquement utilisé dans l'industrie. Abstract: National audience; Avec la transformation numérique, l’adaptation et le développ-ement des compétences sont devenus des facteurs majeurs pour améliorerles performances des collaborateurs et des entreprises. Comprendre lesbesoins des collaborateurs et les aider à atteindre leurs objectifs de déve-loppement de carrière est un véritable défi aujourd’hui. Dans ce travail,nous partageons notre expérience pour mettre en place un système derecommandation automatique permettant aux apprenants de trouver desobjets d’apprentissage pertinents en fonction de leurs objectifs d’appren-tissage. Cette tâche de mise en correspondance se fonde principalementsur la détermination de la similarité sémantique entre les objectifs d’ap-prentissage organisés sous forme de thésaurus et le texte des objets d’ap-prentissage. Nous avons étudié l’impact de l’adaptation et l’utilisationd’un référentiel existant par rapport à la construction d’un référentielinterne à l’entreprise pour définir les objectifs d’apprentissage. Les résul-tats des expérimentations montrent que la création et l’utilisation d’unréférentiel interne à l’entreprise est plus bénéfique que l’utilisation d’unréférentiel existant dans notre cas d’usage.

Abstract: International audience; In recent years, the growing application of Knowledge Graphs to new and diverse domains has created the need to make these resources accessible and understandable by users with increasingly diverse backgrounds. Visualization techniques have been widely employed as means to facilitate the exploration and comprehension of such data sources. Moreover, the emerging use of Knowledge Graph Embeddings as input features of Machine Learning methods has given even more visibility to this kind of representation, but raising the new issue of understandability and interpretability of such embeddings. In this paper, we show how visualization techniques can be used to jointly explore and interpret both Knowledge Graphs and Graph Embeddings. We present Stunning Doodle, a tool that enriches the classical visualization of Knowledge Graphs with additional information meant to enable the visual analysis and comprehension of Graph Embeddings. The idea is to help the user figure out the logical connection between (1) the information captured by the Graph Embeddings and (2) the structure and semantics of the Knowledge Graph from which they are generated. We detail the use of Stunning Doodle in a real-world scenario and we show how it has been helpful to interpret different Graph Embeddings and to choose the most suitable with respect to a specific final goal.

Abstract: International audience; In the last decade Knowledge Graphs have undergone an impressive expansion, mainly due to their extensive use in AI-related applications, such as query answering or recommender systems. This growth has been powered by the expanding landscape of Graph Embedding techniques, which facilitate the manipulation of the vast and sparse information described by Knowledge Graphs. Graph Embedding algorithms create a low-dimensional vector representation of the elements in the graph, i.e. nodes and edges, suitable as input for Machine Learning tasks. Although their effectiveness has been proved on many occasions and for many contexts, the interpretability of such vector representations remains an open issue. In this work, we aim to tackle this issue by providing a systematic approach to decode and make sense of the knowledge captured by Graph Embeddings. We propose a technique for verifying whether Graph Embeddings are able to encode certain properties of the graph elements and we present a categorization for such properties. We test our approach by evaluating the embeddings computed from the same Knowledge Graph through several embedding techniques. We analyze the results on the level of encoding of each property by all the benchmarked algorithms with the final goal of providing insights into the choice of the most suitable technique for each context and encouraging a more conscious use of such approaches.

Abstract: International audience; Semantic Web applications integrating very different software and data sources have to face the heterogeneity of the quality and compliance to standards exhibited by each involved resource. In this paper we propose a uniform way of adapting and customizing the behavior of both the client and the server components of an HTTP exchange to cope with this diversity. We revisit the classical SERVICE clause in SPARQL federated queries in order to parameterize the behavior of both the SPARQL client and the SPARQL service. We propose mechanisms to identify and specify SPARQL federated query services and extended SPARQL-based services.

Abstract: International audience; Ontology alignment plays a key role in the management of heterogeneous data sources and metadata. In this context, various ontology alignment techniques have been proposed to discover correspondences between the entities of different ontologies. This paper proposes a new ontology alignment approach based on a set of rules exploiting the embedding space and measuring clusters of labels to discover the relationship between entities. We tested our system on the OAEI conference complex alignment benchmark track and then applied it to aligning ontologies in a real-world case study. The experimental results show that the combination of word embedding and a measure of dispersion of the clusters of labels, which we call the radius measure, makes it possible to determine, with good accuracy, not only equivalence relations, but also hierarchical relations between entities.

Abstract: Background Artificial intelligence methods applied to electronic medical records (EMRs) hold the potential to help physicians save time by sharpening their analysis and decisions, thereby improving the health of patients. On the one hand, machine learning algorithms have proven their effectiveness in extracting information and exploiting knowledge extracted from data. On the other hand, knowledge graphs capture human knowledge by relying on conceptual schemas and formalization and supporting reasoning. Leveraging knowledge graphs that are legion in the medical field, it is possible to pre-process and enrich data representation used by machine learning algorithms. Medical data standardization is an opportunity to jointly exploit the richness of knowledge graphs and the capabilities of machine learning algorithms. Methods We propose to address the problem of hospitalization prediction for patients with an approach that enriches vector representation of EMRs with information extracted from different knowledge graphs before learning and predicting. In addition, we performed an automatic selection of features resulting from knowledge graphs to distinguish noisy ones from those that can benefit the decision making. We report the results of our experiments on the PRIMEGE PACA database that contains more than 600,000 consultations carried out by 17 general practitioners (GPs). Results A statistical evaluation shows that our proposed approach improves hospitalization prediction. More precisely, injecting features extracted from cross-domain knowledge graphs in the vector representation of EMRs given as input to the prediction algorithm significantly increases the F1 score of the prediction. Conclusions By injecting knowledge from recognized reference sources into the representation of EMRs, it is possible to significantly improve the prediction of medical events. Future work would be to evaluate the impact of a feature selection step coupled with a combination of features extracted from several knowledge graphs. A possible avenue is to study more hierarchical levels and properties related to concepts, as well as to integrate more semantic annotators to exploit unstructured data.

Abstract: International audience; The training curriculum for medical doctors requires the intensive and rapid assimilation of a lot of knowledge. To help medical students optimize their learning path, the SIDES 3.0 national French project aims to extend an existing platform with intelligent learning services. This platform contains a large number of annotated learning resources, from training and evaluation questions to students' learning traces, available as an RDF knowledge graph. In order for the platform to provide personalized learning services, the knowledge and skills progressively acquired by students on each subject should be taken into account when choosing the training and evaluation questions to be presented to them, in the form of customized quizzes. To achieve such recommendation , a first step lies in the ability to predict the outcome of students when answering questions (success or failure). With this objective in mind, in this paper we propose a model of the students' learning on the SIDES platform, able to make such predictions. The model extends a state-of-the-art approach to fit the specificity of medical data, and to take into account additional knowledge extracted from the OntoSIDES knowledge graph in the form of graph embeddings. Through an evaluation based on learning traces for pediatrics and cardiovascular specialties, we show that considering the vector representations of answers, questions and students nodes substantially improves the prediction results compared to baseline models.

Variations in the annotations of these texts in terms of coverage and abstraction may be due to the chosen annotation methods and the knowledge graphs, and may lead to very different performances in the automated processing of these annotations. We propose a semi-supervised approach based on DBpedia to extract medical subjects from EMRs and evaluate the impact of augmenting the features used to represent EMRs with these subjects in the task of predicting hospitalization. We compare the impact of subjects selected by experts vs. by machine learning methods through feature selection. Our approach was experimented on data from the database PRIMEGE PACA that contains more than 600,000 consultations carried out by 17 general practitioners (GPs).

Abstract: International audience; In many social networks, people interact based on their relationship network. Community detection algorithms are then useful to reveal the sub-structures of a network. Identifying these users' communities can help us assist their life-cycle. However, in certain kinds of online communities such as question-and-answer (Q&A) sites or forums, people interact based on common topics of interest, rather than an explicit relationship network. Therefore, many traditional community detection techniques do not apply directly. Discovering those topics of interest is critical to identify users' communities. Besides, users' activities on certain topics of interest are evolving with time and it is therefore very important to extract their temporal dynamics. In this paper, we first propose Topic Trees Distributions (TTD), an efficient approach for extracting topics from Q&A sites in order to detect overlapping communities. We then extend TTD to propose Temporal Topic Expertise Activity (TTEA), a graphical probabilistic model to extract both topics-based expertise and temporal information. We evaluated and compared our models with state-of-the-art approaches on a dataset extracted from the popular Q&A site StackOverflow.

Abstract: Agronomy/agriculture and biodiversity (ag & biodiv) communities face several major societal, economic, and environmental challenges that data science approaches will help address. To achieve their goals, researchers of these communities must be able to rapidly discover, aggregate, integrate, and analyse different types of data and information sources. Semantic technologies, combined to open, FAIR data and services, is one of the answers to fully knowledge-driven, and transparent science and innovation. The D2KAB project (www.d2kab.org) aims to create a framework to turn agronomy and biodiversity data into knowledge – semantically described, interoperable, actionable, open – and investigate the scientific methods and tools to exploit this knowledge for applications in agriculture and biodiversity sciences. This project, funded by French ANR (2019-2023), will provide the means –ontologies and linked open data– for ag & biodiv to embrace semantic Web technologies in order to produce and exploit FAIR data and services. To do so, D2KAB will develop new original methods and algorithms in the following areas: data integration, text mining, semantic annotation, ontology alignment and linked data exploitation and visualization. D2KAB project brings together a unique multidisciplinary consortium of 12 partners to achieve this objective: 2 informatics research units (LIRMM, I3S); 6 INRA/IRSTEA/IRD research units at the interface of computer science and ag & biodiv (URGI, MaIAGE, IATE, DIST, TSCF, DIADE) specialized in agronomy or agriculture; 2 labs in biodiversity and ecosystem research (CEFE, URFM); 1 association of agriculture stakeholders (ACTA); and 1 partnership with Stanford BMIR department. Three main goals drive D2KAB’s roadmap: To develop state-of-the-art methods and technologies for ontology lifecycle and alignment. To build the agronomy, agriculture and biodiversity Linked Open Data cloud. To enable new semantically driven agronomy and biodiversity science. The work is starting from the recommendations of several RDA WG and IG already published or in progress (e.g. Agrisemantic WG, Vocabulary Services IG, Wheat and Rice Data Interoperability WGs, Agricultural Data IG, SHARC IG). Some of the key technological building blocks of D2KAB are AgroPortal, a reference repository for ontologies and vocabularies in agronomy; AgroLD, a semantic Web knowledge base that integrates agronomic data from public databases including GO associations, Gramene, UniprotKB, and OryGenesDB ; Corese, a semantic Web factory that implements the W3C standards RDF, RDFS, OWL-RL and SPARQL, and LDScript, a Linked Data Script Language, and STTL, the SPARQL Template Transformation Language for RDF; and Alvis, a text mining for semantic normalisation of free text by ontologies. D2KAB will allow the valorization of ag & biodiv data into real world applications leading to economic impact, smart agriculture and ecological preservation. Five driving scenarios are planned: development of an ontology-based expert system to select food packaging solutions; creation of an augmented semantic reader for Plant Health Bulletins; advanced integration of textual and experimental data on wheat phenotypes; development of new ontologies on plant root traits and extension of the Thesaurus Of Plant Characteristics; integration of plant functional biogeography data related to the Mediterranean Basin. Each of the project scenarios will have a significant impact and produce concrete outcomes for ag & biodiv scientific communities and socio-economic stakeholders in agriculture.

Abstract: The difficulty of representing and organizing knowledge in reasonably complete ways raises at least two research questions: “how to check that particular relations are systematically used not just whenever possible but whenever relevant for knowledge providers?” and “how to extend best practices, ontology patterns or methodologies advocating the systematic use of particular relations and, at the same time, automatize the checking of compliance with these methods?”. As an answer, this article proposes a generic “ontology design rule” (ODR). A general formulation of this generic ODR is: in a given KB, for each pair of knowledge base objects (types or individuals) of a given set chosen by the user of this ODR, there should be either statements connecting these objects by relations of particular given types or statements negating such relations. This article further specifies this ODR and shows its interests for subtype relations and other transitive relations, e.g. part relations and specialization relations with genus & differentia. This article shows how this ODR can be implemented via OWL and SPARQL, at least for common simple cases (and, generically, via an higher-order logic based language).

Abstract: article court; National audience; Physicians are confronted with a constant increase in the number of their patients given the numerus clausus imposed on medical studies in France. In addition, the overall aging of the population requires them to treat patients with many diseases (comorbidity), which complicates the management of patients since polypharmacy implies the appearance of unexpected adverse drug’s effects. In this paper, we present the interface of an algorithm de-veloped to assist in the decision-making process of general practitioners (GPs) that allows them to identify in patients the first signs that lead to hospitalization and medical problems to be treated as a priority; Les médecins sont confrontés à une augmentation constante du nombre de leurs patients compte tenu du numerus clausus imposé aux études médicales en France. De plus, le vieillissement global de la population les oblige à traiter des patients atteints de nombreuses maladies chroniques (comorbidité), ce qui complique la prise en charge des patients puisque la polymédication implique l'apparition d'effets indésirables. Dans cet article, nous présentons l'interface d'un algorithme développé pour aider à la prise de décision des médecins généralistes qui leur permet d'identifier les premiers signes qui mènent les patients à l'hospitalisation et les problèmes médicaux à traiter en priorité.

Abstract: National audience; SIDES 3.0 est un projet national français visant à fournir aux étudiants en médecine des services intelligents pour soutenir l'apprentissage en ligne dans le Système Intelligent d'Enseignement en Santé 3.0 (SIDES). La plateforme SIDES contient un grand nombre de ressources d'apprentissage annotées, notam-ment des questions de formation et d'évaluation, et recueille les traces d'apprentissage des étudiants. Ces annotations de ressources et traces d'apprentissage ont été intégrées sous la forme d'un graphe RDF, et en-richies grâce à des ontologies. Cet article présente les résultats de l'analyse de l'apprentissage des étudiants dans la plateforme SIDES en exploitant le graphe de connaissances associé en reposant sur les technologies du Web sémantique. Cette analyse est préliminaire à la conception et mise en oeuvre des fonctionnalités visant à permettre un apprentissage personnalisé et adaptatif sur la plateforme.

Abstract: article court; National audience; Physicians are confronted with a constant increase in the number of their patients given the numerus clausus imposed on medical studies in France. In addition, the overall aging of the population requires them to treat patients with many diseases (comorbidity), which complicates the management of patients since polypharmacy implies the appearance of unexpected adverse drug’s effects. In this paper, we present the interface of an algorithm de-veloped to assist in the decision-making process of general practitioners (GPs) that allows them to identify in patients the first signs that lead to hospitalization and medical problems to be treated as a priority; Les médecins sont confrontés à une augmentation constante du nombre de leurs patients compte tenu du numerus clausus imposé aux études médicales en France. De plus, le vieillissement global de la population les oblige à traiter des patients atteints de nombreuses maladies chroniques (comorbidité), ce qui complique la prise en charge des patients puisque la polymédication implique l'apparition d'effets indésirables. Dans cet article, nous présentons l'interface d'un algorithme développé pour aider à la prise de décision des médecins généralistes qui leur permet d'identifier les premiers signes qui mènent les patients à l'hospitalisation et les problèmes médicaux à traiter en priorité.

Abstract: International audience; Electronic medical records (EMR) contain key information about the different symptomatic episodes that a patient went through. They carry a great potential in order to improve the well-being of patients and therefore represent a very valuable input for artificial intelligence approaches. However, the explicit knowledge directly available through these records remains limited, the extracted features to be used by machine learning algorithms do not contain all the implicit knowledge of medical expert. In order to evaluate the impact of domain knowledge when processing EMRs, we augment the features extracted from EMRs with ontological resources before turning them into vectors used by machine learning algorithms. We evaluate these augmentations with several machine learning algorithms to predict hospitalization. Our approach was experimented on data from the PRIMEGE PACA database that contains more than 350,000 consultations carried out by 16 general practitioners (GPs).

Abstract: The knowledge available through electronic medical records (EMR) themselves remains limited by the fact the features used by a machine learning algorithms from a text alone do not contain all the implicit information known by a domain expert. We propose and evaluate the ontological augmentations of features extracted from textual information from EMRs on several machine learning algorithms to predict hospitalization., Les dossiers médicaux électroniques (DME) contiennent des informations essentielles sur les différents épisodes symptomatiques qu'un patient a subis. Cependant, les connaissances disponibles à travers ces enregistrements restent limitées : les attributs extractibles à partir de ces textes pour un algorithme d'apprentissage ne contiennent pas toutes les informations implicites connues par un expert. Afin d'évaluer et de pallier ce problème, nous avons étudié l'impact de l'augmentation des textes et des informations textuelles en provenance des DMEs par des annotations ontologiques générées automatiquement à partir de leur analyse afin d'enrichir en amont les représentations vectorielles utilisées ensuite par des algorithmes d'apprentissage.

Abstract: Ontology alignment plays a key role in achieving interoperability on the semantic Web. Inspired by the success of word embedding techniques in several NLP tasks, we propose a new ontology alignment approach based on the combination of word embedding and the radius measure. We tested our system on the OAEI (http://oaei.ontologymatching.org/) conference track and then applied it to aligning ontologies in a real-world case study. The experimental results show that using word embedding and the radius measure make it possible to determine, with good accuracy, not only equivalence relations, but also hierarchical relations between concepts.

Abstract: International audience; The production of Educational quizzes is a time-consuming task that can be automated by taking advantage of existing knowledge bases available on the Web of Linked Open Data (LOD) such as DBpedia. For these quizzes to be useful to learners, their questions must be generated in compliance with the knowledge and skills necessary to master for each subject and school year according to the official educational standards. We present an approach that exploits structured knowledge bases that contain the knowledge and skills, from which it selects a set of DBpedia resources relevant to a specific school subject and year. This set of resources is enriched with additional related resources, through the NEFCE heuristic. Finally, question generation strategies are applied to the graph generated with this set of resulting resources. Likewise, we provide an evaluation of two knowledge bases and of the proposed NEFCE heuristics.

Abstract: National audience; As part of the SMILK Joint Lab, we studied the use of Natural Language Processing to: (1) enrich knowledge bases and link data on the web, and conversely (2) use this linked data to contribute to the improvement of text analysis and the annotation of textual content, and to support knowledge extraction. The evaluation focused on brand-related information retrieval in the field of cosmetics. This article describes each step of our approach: the creation of ProVoc, an ontology to describe products and brands; the automatic population of a knowledge base mainly based on ProVoc from heterogeneous textual resources; and the evaluation of an application which that takes the form of a browser plugin providing additional knowledge to users browsing the web.; Le laboratoire commun SMILK avait pour double sujet d'étude l'utilisation du traitement automatique du langage naturel pour aider à la construction et au liage de données sur le web et, à l'inverse, l'utilisation de ces données liées du web sémantique pour aider à l'analyse des textes et venir en appui de l'extraction de connaissances et l'annotation de contenus textuels. L'évaluation de nos travaux s'est focalisée sur la recherche d'informations portant sur des marques, plus particulièrement dans le domaine de la cosmétique. Cet article décrit chaque étape de notre approche : la conception de ProVoc, une ontologie pour décrire les produits et marques ; le peuplement automatique d'une base de connaissances reposant notamment sur ProVoc à partir de ressources textuelles hétérogènes; et l'évaluation d'une application prenant la forme d'un plugin de navigateur proposant des connaissances supplémentaires aux utilisateurs naviguant sur le web.

Abstract: As part of the SMILK Joint Lab, we studied the use of Natural Language Processing to: (1) enrich knowledge bases and link data on the web, and conversely (2) use this linked data to contribute to the improvement of text analysis and the annotation of textual content, and to support knowledge extraction. The evaluation focused on brand-related information retrieval in the field of cosmetics. Abstract: International audience; Web based e-Education systems are an important kind of information systems that benefited from Web standards for implementation, deployment and integration. In this paper we propose and evaluate a semantic Web approach to support the features and interoperability of a real industrial e-Education system in production. We show how ontology-based knowledge representation supports the required features, their extension to new ones and the integration of external resources (e.g. official standards) as well as the interoperability with other systems.We designed and implemented a proof of concept in an industrial context that was qualitatively and quantitatively evaluated and we benchmarked different alternatives on real data and real queries. We present a complete evaluation of the quality of service and response time in this industrial context and we show that on a real-world tesbed Semantic Web based solutions can meet the industrial requirements, both in terms of functionalities and efficiency compared to existing operational solutions. We also show that an ontology-oriented modelling opens up new opportunities of advanced functionalities supporting resource recommendation and adaptive learning.

Abstract: National audience; Ces dernières années, de nombreuses entreprises s'orientent vers l'intégration du développement d'ontologies au sein de leurs processus pour mieux organiser les connaissances mises en jeu et améliorer les performances de leur traitement automatique. Dans cet article, nous décrivons notre travail de modélisation d'ontologie dans le domaine du sourcing, dans le but de décrire le contenu sémantique des offres et demandes de prestations. Nous nous focalisons sur la représentation des compétences et des domaines de compétences, dans le but de raisonner sur ces connaissances pour améliorer la recommandation des prestataires. Notre stratégie de développement d'ontologie repose sur (i) la réutilisation de référentiels existants pour représenter les compétences et domaines de compétences, (ii) la construction de référentiels internes et (iii) un travail d'alignement d'ontologies.

Abstract: International audience; In the domain of Information Retrieval and Natural Language Processing, text classification has become a crucial task. In this article, we share our experience of text cate-gorization in an industrial context and we present a comparative evaluation of binary and multi-label classification algorithms applied to texts describing service offers, in the SILEX B2B platform. We show that for some use cases like the one we consider, a traditional representation of texts by "bags of words" gives better classification results than the promising representation by "word embeddings".; Dans le domaine de la recherche d'information et du traite-ment automatique du langage, la tâche de classification de textes est devenue une tâche cruciale. Dans cet article, nous partageons notre expérience de la classification de textes dans un contexte industriel et présentons une évalu-ation comparative de différents algorithmes de classification binaire et multi-label appliqués à des textes décrivant des offres de services, issus de la plateforme B2B SILEX pour la recommandation de prestataires de services. Nous montrons que dans certains cas pratiques comme celui que nous considérons, une représentation des données sous la forme de "bags of words" donne de meilleurs résultats de classification qu'une représentation réputée plus promet-teuse par "word embeddings".

Abstract: International audience; Educational quizzes are useful not only to evaluate or test the knowledge acquired by a learner, but also to help her/him to deepen knowledge about a specific domain or topic in an informal and entertaining way. The production of quizzes is a time-consuming task that can be automated by taking advantage of existing knowledge bases available on the Web of Linked Open Data (LOD). However, automatically extracting from the LOD a knowledge graph composed by the information of a set of resources which are relevant to a given specific domain or topic, is a crucial phase for the automatic generation of quizzes. To address this issue, we propose a heuristic that extracts from DBpedia a set of resources related to a given specific domain. Such heuristic has been implemented and used for the automatic generation of quizzes in the geography and privacy domains. We report a comparative user evaluation of it.

Abstract: International audience; Educational quizzes are a powerful and popular tool to test the knowledge acquired by a learner and also to deepen her/his knowledge about a specific subject in an informal and entertaining way. Their production is a time-consuming task that can be automated by taking advantage of existing knowledge bases available on the Web of Linked Open Data (LOD). For these quizzes to be useful to learners, they must be generated according to the knowledge and skills defined by official educational standards for each subject and school year. This paper shows an approach to generate quizzes automatically according to the official French educational standards, from two different knowledge bases. Likewise, we show an evaluation of both knowledge bases.

Abstract: International audience; In this paper we present a preliminary work conducted in the framework of the multidisciplinary research network Zoomathia, which aims at studying the transmission of zoological knowledge from Antiquity to the Middle Ages through compilation literature. We propose an approach of knowledge extraction from ancient texts consisting in semantically categorizating text segments based on machine learning methods applied to a representation of segments built by processing their translations in modern languages with Natural Language Processing (NLP) methods and by exploiting a dedicated thesaurus of zoology-related concepts. The final aim is to semantically annotate the ancient texts and reason on these annotations to help epistemologists, historians and philolo-gists in their analysis of these texts.

Abstract: International audience; In addition to the existing standards dedicated to representation or querying, Semantic Web programmers could really benefit from a dedicated programming language enabling them to directly define functions on RDF terms, RDF graphs or SPARQL results. This is especially the case, for instance, when defining SPARQL extension functions. The ability to capitalize complex SPARQL filter expressions into extension functions or to define and reuse dedicated aggregates are real cases where a dedicated language can support modularity and maintenance of the code. Other families of use cases include the definition of functional properties associated to RDF resources or the definition of procedural attachments as functions assigned to RDFS or OWL classes with the selection of the function to be applied to a resource depending on the type of the resource. To address these needs we define LDScript, a Linked Data script language on top of the SPARQL filter expression language. We provide the formal grammar of the syntax and the Natural Semantics inference rules of the semantics of the language. We also provide a benchmark and perform an evaluation using real test bases from W3C with different implementations and approaches comparing, in particular, script interpretation and Java compilation.

Abstract: International audience; The increase in the amount of structured data published on the Web using the principles of Linked Data means that now it is more likely to find resources on the Web of Data that represent real life concepts. Discovering and recommending resources on the Web of Data related to a given resource is still an open research area. This work presents a framework to deploy and execute Linked Data based recommendation algorithms to measure their accuracy and performance in different contexts. Moreover, application developers can use this framework as the main component for recommendation in various domains. Finally, this paper describes a new recommendation algorithm that adapts its behavior dynamically based on the features of the Linked Data dataset used. The results of a user study show that the algorithm proposed in this paper has better accuracy and novelty than other state- of-the-art algorithms for Linked Data.

Abstract: National audience; Dans cet article, nous proposons une approche pour construire une base de connaissances à partir de textes dans le domaine de la cosmétique. Il s’agit d’un cas particulier pour un domaine fixé du problème de l’extraction de relations à partir de textes. Dans le but de résoudre ce problème, nous proposons une approche semi-supervisée pour l’extraction des relations en combinant deux méthodes : (i) la construction de patrons d’extraction à partir des résumés présents dans les pages de DBpedia, (ii) l’annotation manuelle d’un ensemble de textes pour définir des patrons syntaxiques pour extraire les relations. Nous avons évalué notre approche sur deux types de corpus : (i) un premier corpus est composé d’articles de journaux spécialisés, tels que au féminin. com et Cosmétique Hebdo, (ii) un deuxième corpus est constitué d’un ensemble de phrases collectées sur sur le Web. L’évaluation présentée dans cet article combine les résultats des trois méthodes.

Abstract: International audience; Educational quizzes are very valuable resources to test or evaluate the knowledge acquired by learners and to support lifelong learning on various topics or subjects, in an informal and entertaining way. The production of quizzes is a very time-consuming task and its automation is thus a real challenge in e-Education. In this paper, we address the research question of how to automate the generation of quizzes by taking advantage of existing knowledge sources available on the Web. We propose an approach that allows learners to take advantage of the knowledge captured in domain ontologies available on the Web and to discover or acquire a more in-depth knowledge of a specific domain by solving educational quizzes automatically generated from an ontology modelling the domain. The implementation and experimentation of our approach is presented through the use case of a world-famous French game of manually generated multiple-choice questions.

Abstract: International audience; We present a methodology to enhance domain-specific ontologies by (i) addressing a manual annotation of texts with the concepts in the domain ontology, (ii) matching the annotated concepts with the closest YAGO-Wikipedia concept available, and (iii) using concepts from other ontologies that cover complementary domains. This method reduces the difficulty of aligning ontologies, because annotators are asked to associate two labels from different inventories to a concrete example, which requires a simple judgment. In a second phase, those correspondences are consolidated into a proper alignment. The resulting alignment is a partial connection between diverse ontologies, and also a strong connection to Linked Open Data. By aligning these ontologies, we are increasing the ontological coverage for texts in that domain. Moreover, by aligning domain on-tologies to the Wikipedia (via YAGO), we can obtain manually annotated examples for some of the concepts, effectively populating the ontology with examples. We present two applications of this process in the legal domain. First, we annotate sentences of the European Court of Human Rights with the LKIF ontology, at the same time matching them with the YAGO ontology. Second, we annotate a corpus of customer questions and answers from an insurance web page with the P&C ontology for the insurance domain, matching it with the YAGO ontology and complementing it with a financial ontology.

Abstract: International audience; We develop the theory of a possibilistic framework for OWL 2 axiom testing against RDF datasets, as an alternative to statistics-based heuristics. The intuition behind it is to evaluate the credibility of OWL 2 axioms based on the evidence available in the form of a set of facts contained in a chosen RDF dataset. To achieve it, we first define the notions of development, content, support , confirmation and counterexample of an axiom. Then we use these notions to define the possibility and necessity of an axiom and its acceptance/rejection index combining both of them. Finally, we report a practical application of the proposed framework to test SubClassOf axioms against the DBpedia RDF dataset.

In this paper we analyze the educational progressions of the French educational system, we show how to formalize them through a web ontology and how to perform knowledge extraction from the official texts describing them to automate the population of such an ontology.

Abstract: International audience; The first International Workshop on Semantic Web for Scientific Heritage was held in conjunction with the 12th ESWC 2015 Conference on June 1, in Portoroz, Slovenia and provided a leading international and interdisciplinary forum for disseminating the latest research in the field of Semantic Web for the preservation and exploitation of our scientific heritage, the study of the history of ideas and their transmission. Classicists and historians are interested in developing textual databases, in order to gather and explore large amounts of primary source materials. For a long time, they mainly focused on text digitization and markup. They only recently decided to try to explore the possibility of transferring some analytical processes they previously thought incompatible with automation to knowledge engineering systems, thus taking advantage of the growing set of tools and techniques based on the languages and standards of the semantic Web, such as linked data, ontologies, and automated reasoning. The iconographic data, which are also relevant in history of science and arise similar problematic could be addressed as well and offer suggestive insights for a global methodology for diverse media. On the other hand, Semantic Web researchers are willing to take up more ambitious challenges than those arising in the native context of the Web in terms of anthropological complexity, addressing meta-semantic problems of flexible, pluralist or evolutionary ontologies, sources heterogeneity, hermeneutic and rhetoric dimensions. Thus the opportunity for a fruitful encounter of knowledge engineers with computer-savvy historians and classicists has come. This encounter may be inscribed within the more general context of digital humanities, a research area at the intersection of computing and the humanities disciplines which is gaining an ever-increasing momentum and where the Linked Open Data is playing an increasingly prominent role.

Abstract: Accessing legacy data as virtual RDF stores is a key issue in the building of the Web of Data. In recent years, the MongoDB database has become a leader in the NoSQL market and the management of very large datasets, making it a significant potential contributor to the Web of Linked Data. Therefore, in this paper we address the research question of how to access arbitrary MongoDB documents with SPARQL.We propose a two-step method to (i) translate a SPARQL query into a pivot abstract query under MongoDB-to-RDF mappings represented in the xR2RML language, then (ii) translate the pivot query into a concrete MongoDB query. We elaborate on the discrepancy between the expressiveness of SPARQL and the MongoDB query language, and we show that we can always come up with a rewriting that shall produce all certain answers.

Abstract: National audience; Les Journées Francophones d'Ingénierie des Connaissances fêtent cette année leurs 25 ans. Cette conférence est le rendez-vous annuel de la communauté française et francophone qui se retrouve pour échanger et réfléchir sur des problèmes de recherche qui se posent en acquisition, représentation et gestion des connaissances. Parmi les vingt et un articles sélectionnés pour publication et présentation à la conférence, un thème fondateur de l'ingénierie des connaissances domine : celui de la modélisation de domaines. Six articles traitent de la conception d'ontologies, trois articles de l'annotation sémantique et du peuplement d'ontologies et deux articles de l'exploitation d'ontologies dans des systèmes à base de connaissances. L'informatique médicale est le domaine d'application privilégié des travaux présentés, que l'on retrouve dans sept articles. L'ingénierie des connaissances accompagne l'essor des technologies du web sémantique, en inventant les modèles, méthodes et outils permettant l'intégration de connaissances et le raisonnement dans des systèmes à base de connaissances sur le web. Ainsi, on retrouve les thèmes de la représentation des connaissances et du raisonnement dans six articles abordant les problématiques du web de données : le liage des données, leur transformation et leur interrogation ; la représentation et la réutilisation de règles sur le web de données ; la programmation d'applications exploitant le web de données. L'essor des sciences et technologies de l'information et de la communication, et notamment des technologies du web, dans l'ensemble de la société engendre des mutations dans les pratiques individuelles et collectives. L'ingénierie des connaissances accompagne cette évolution en plaçant l'utilisateur au cœur des systèmes informatiques, pour l'assister dans le traitement de la masse de données disponibles. Quatre articles sont dédiés aux problématiques du web social : analyse de réseaux sociaux, détection de communautés, folksonomies, personnalisation de recommandations, représentation et prise en compte de points de vue dans la recherche d'information. Deux articles traitent de l'adaptation des systèmes aux utilisateurs et de l'assistance aux utilisateurs et deux autres de l'aide à la prise de décision. Le taux de sélection de cette édition de la conférence est de 50%, avec dix-neuf articles longs et deux articles courts acceptés parmi quarante-deux soumissions. S'y ajoutent une sélection de neuf posters et démonstrations parmi douze soumissions, présentés dans une session dédiée et inclus dans les actes. Enfin, une innovation de cette édition 2014 de la conférence est la programmation d'une session spéciale " Projets et Industrie ", animée par Frédérique Segond (Viseo), à laquelle participeront Laurent Pierre (EDF), Alain Berger (Ardans) et Mylène Leitzelman (Mnemotix). Trois conférencières invitées ouvriront chacune des journées de la conférence que je remercie chaleureusement de leur participation. Nathalie Aussenac-Gilles (IRIT) retracera l'évolution de l'ingénierie des connaissances en France depuis 25 ans, de la pénurie à la surabondance. A sa suite, Frédérique Segond (Viseo) abordera le problème de " l'assouvissement " de la faim de connaissances dans la nouvelle ère des connaissances dans laquelle nous sommes entrés. Enfin, Marie-Laure Mugnier (LIRMM) présentera un nouveau cadre pour l'interrogation de données basée sur une ontologie, fondé sur des règles existentielles.

Abstract: International audience; In this paper we address the general research question of How can we express constraints on RDF data and how can we check that an RDF graph satisfies some given constraints? and we focus on expressing constraints defining OWL 2 profiles and checking these constraints for OWL validation. We propose an approach based on the SPARQL Template Transformation language (STTL). An STTL template is a transformation rule that applies to a given RDF graph and the recursive call of a set of STTL templates on an RDF graph outputs some textual data resulting from the transformation of this graph. We show that STTL can be used as a constraint language for RDF and we use it to implement the semantics of OWL 2 profiles: each profile is represented by a set of STTL templates that a valid ontology must satisfy.
