Insects that live in the saltwater and brackish marshes, which fringe the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico, are largely unstudied. During 2011–2013, a survey of insect fauna of the coastal salt marshes of the Mississippi Delta in Louisiana was conducted. We present the species of terrestrial representatives of Heteroptera and Auchenorrhyncha collected during that study. The Auchenorrhyncha are represented by 33 species in 6 families, with Cicadellidae (16 species) and Delphacidae (13 spp.), and are the most diverse. The terrestrial heteropterans are represented by 11 species in 5 families with the majority of species in Miridae (6 spp.). A list of species, annotated with numbers of specimens collected, ranges of collection dates (seasonality), and published information on their hosts, habitats, and ranges, is presented. Of 44 identified species, ten species (22.7%) are reported from Louisiana for the first time. Purpose: The purpose was to compare two approaches for the acquisition and analysis of dynamic-contrast-enhanced MRI data with respect to differences in the modelling of the arterial input-function (AIF), the dependency of the model parameters on physiological parameters and their numerical stability. Eight hundred tissue concentration curves were simulated for different combinations of perfusion, permeability, interstitial volume and plasma volume based on two measured AIFs and analysed according to the two commonly used approaches. The transfer constants (Approach 1) K (trans) and (Approach 2) k (ep) were correlated with all tissue parameters. K (trans) showed a stronger dependency on perfusion, and k (ep) on permeability. The volume parameters (Approach 1) v (e) and (Approach 2) A were mainly influenced by the interstitial and plasma volume. Both approaches allow only rough characterisation of tissue microcirculation and microvasculature. A recently introduced quantitative radioautographic technique was used to characterize the striatal dopaminergic deficit in weaver mutant mice and to evaluate the extent of DA reinnervation resulting from cell suspension grafts of fetal ventral mesencephalic tissue. Brain slices from normal mice and unilaterally grafted weaver mice were incubated in [H]DA, in the presence of desipramine and pargyline, 3-5 months after graft surgery. Semi-thin sections from the fixed and resin-embedded slices were subsequently exposed on tritium sensitive film and afterwards dipped in nuclear emulsion for light microscope radioautography. Alternate slices were embedded in Epon for post-embedding tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) immunocytochemistry. The grain density of the film radioautographs matched well the distribution of TH positive fibers. Both methods revealed an almost complete absence of DA axons in the dorsomedial quadrant of the weaver neostriatum and an increasing density of DA innervation towards the ventrolateral areas. In the light microscope radioautographs, only the ventral striatum (i.e. nucleus accumbens and olfactory tubercle) and a narrow ventral and periventricular zone of the caudate-putamen were covered by silver grain clusters typical of DA varicosity labeling. Such labeled varicosities were nevertheless found in reduced numbers in the lateral portion of both nucleus accumbens and the olfactory tubercle. The remaining neostriatum was overlaid by diffuse silver grains, suggesting a deficient DA uptake and storage mechanism in the residual DA fibers in this region. Immunocytochemistry using antibodies specific for DA or TH provided further evidence that the residual DA innervation in the weaver neostriatum was biochemically defective. Weaver mice with grafts of ventral mesencephalic tissue in the right neostriatum showed an amphetamine-induced rotational bias to the contralateral side, which was not seen in the sham-operated animals. In contrast to the intrinsic weaver neostriatal DA innervation, DA fibers of graft origin exhibited the normal, clustered type of varicosity labeling. The computerized image analysis of silver grain density in film radioautographs was calibrated by counting these labeled varicosities in selected areas of light microscope radioautographs from the same sections. Results showed a mean DA reinnervation of neostriatal tissue surrounding the graft of about 20%, in some cases up to 80%, of the density seen in wild type mice, with a gradual decrease with distance up to 1-1.4 mm from the graft. The ventral parts of the neostriatum, which contained higher numbers of residual intrinsic DA fibers, were much more sparsely reinnervated than the dorsal and dorsomedial areas. These data show that a quantitatively significant DA reinnervation of the weaver neostriatum can be provided by fetal mesencephalic cell suspension grafts and that these DA fibers become functional, at least with respect to their DA uptake and storage mechanisms, in a neostriatal environment where intrinsic weaver DA axons are strongly deficient. However, observations in long-term weaver mice (9 months after transplantation) suggested that the graft-derived DA fiber outgrowth was reduced with time in the affected striatum, in spite of good survival of the grafted neurones. Raynaud’s disease is associated with disorders in blood circulation of the hands. The gold standard to visualise pathology of digital arteries is catheter angiography. Contrast-enhanced MR angiography (CE MRA) has developed even more as an alternative non-invasive method to digital subtraction angiography, mostly for pelvic or lower limb vessels. We report a case of primary Raynaud’s disease with high-grade stenosis and an occlusion of the digital arteries. This case illustrates the benefit and efficiency of CE MRA at high fields in depicting location and extension of peripheral arterial alterations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) is the most important sequence for detection and grading prostate cancer (PCa), but it is considerably prone to artifacts. New approaches like zoomed single-shot imaging (z-EPI) with advanced image processing or multi-shot readout segmentation (rs-EPI) try to improve DWI quality. This study evaluates objective and subjective image quality (IQ) of rs-EPI and z-EPI with and without advanced processing. Fifty-six consecutive patients (67 ± 8 years; median PSA 8.3 ng/ml) with mp-MRI performed at 3 Tesla between February and October 2019 and subsequently verified PCa by targeted plus systematic MRI/US-fusion biopsy were included in this retrospective single center cohort study. Rs - EPI and z-EPI were prospectively acquired in every patient. Signal intensities (SI) of PCa and benign tissue in ADC, b1000, and calculated high b-value images were analyzed. Endpoints were signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR), PCa contrast intensity (CI), and subjective IQ on a 5-point scale evaluated by three blinded readers. Wilcoxon signed rank test, Friedman test and Cohen's kappa coefficient was calculated. SNR, CNR, and PCa CI of z-EPI with and without advanced processing was superior to rs-EPI (p < 0.01), whereas no significant differences were observed between z-EPI with and without advanced processing. Subjective IQ was significantly higher for z-EPI with advanced processing compared rs-EPI for ADC, b1000, and calculated high b-values (p < 0.01). Compared to z-EPI without advanced processing, z-EPI with advanced processing was superior for ADC and calculated high b-values (p < 0.01), but no significant differences were shown for b1000 images. Z -EPI with and without advanced processing was superior to rs-EPI regarding objective imaging parameters and z-EPI with advanced processing was superior to rs-EPI regarding subjective imaging parameters for the detection of PCa.
