The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic exposed health professionals to high stress levels inducing significant psychological impact. Our region, Grand Est , was the most impacted French region during the first COVID-19 wave. In this context, we created CoviPsyHUS, local mental health prevention and care system dedicated explicitly to healthcare workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in one of this region's tertiary hospitals. We deployed CoviPsyHUS gradually in 1 month. To date, CoviPsyHUS comprises 60 mental health professionals dedicated to 4 complementary components: (i) a mental health support hotline (170 calls), (ii) relaxation rooms (used by 2,120 healthcare workers with 110 therapeutic workshops offered), (iii) mobile teams (1,200 contacts with healthcare staff), and (iv) a section dedicated to patients and their families. Among the critical points to integrate mental health care system during a crisis, we identified: (i) massive dissemination of mental health support information with multimodal communication, (ii) clear identification of the mental health support system, (iii) proactive mobile teams to identify healthcare professionals in difficulty, (iv) concrete measures to relieve the healthcare professionals under pressure (e.g., the relay in communication with families), (v) support for primary needs (body care (physiotherapy), advice and first-line therapy for sleep disorders), and (vi) psychoeducation and emotion management techniques. The different components of CoviPsyHUS are vital elements in meeting the needs of caregivers in situations of continuous stress. The organization of 4 targeted, modular, and rapidly deployable components makes CoviPsyHUS an innovative, reactive, and replicable mental health prevention and care system that could serve as a universal support model for other COVID-19 affected teams or other exceptional health crises in the future. This study explores the application of machine learning techniques for detecting and tracking plasma filaments around the boundary of magnetically confined tokamak plasmas. Plasma filaments, also called blobs, are responsible for enhanced turbulent transport across magnetic field lines, and their accurate characterization is crucial for optimizing the performance of magnetic fusion devices. We present a novel approach that combines machine learning methods applied to data obtained from ultra-fast cameras, including YOLO (You Only Look Once) for object detection, semantic segmentation, and specific tracking methods. This approach enables fast and accurate detection and tracking of filaments while overcoming the limitations of conventional methods, which are time-consuming and prone to human subjectivity. A significant advance in our study lies in the development of a method for automatically labeling a large batch of data, which greatly facilitates the training of supervised machine learning algorithms. Using these techniques, we obtained promising results demonstrating a significant improvement over conventional tracking methods, achieving a detection accuracy of up to 98.8%, while reducing the inference time per frame by 15% to 31% compared to conventional Kalman filter tracking. These results open up new perspectives for investigating turbulent phenomena in tokamaks, and could have important implications for the development of controlled nuclear fusion. The reduction of titanocene dichloride Cp2TiCl2 with lanthanide metals has led to the discovery of a surprising lanthanide effect: while with most lanthanides, a divalent [Cp2Ti] equivalent was obtained, the use of samarium or ytterbium only led to the reduction to trivalent [Cp2TiCl]-type complexes, including the structurally characterized heterobimetallic complex [Cp2Ti(μ-Cl)2SmCl2(THF)3]. These results were corroborated by reactivity studies (alkyne coupling and radical reactions), EPR spectroscopy and electrospray mass spectrometry, providing new insights into the reduction chemistry of lanthanide metals. Parallelodontids, as typical bivalves of the shelf facies, have been successfully diversified since the Middle Devonian. During the second radiation of the family in the latest Devonian (Strunian regional stage) and early Carboniferous, the shelf areas yielded highly diverse parallelodontids, but they also invaded the deeper basins of the northwesternmost Palaeotethys, particularly the Rhenohercynian Basin. Here, we provide a comprehensive description and comparison of the parallelodontids of the deeper marine environments in the Mississippian across Europe. In addition to the already known species Parallelodon semicostatus (McCoy, 1844), P. tenuistria (McCoy, 1844), and P. geinitzi De Koninck, 1885, the species P. beneckei (Tornquist, 1896) and P. decheni (von Koenen, 1879) are revived after years of disuse. 'Byssoarca lanceolata', a distorted fragment described by McCoy in 1844 from Irish mudstones, is considered as nomen dubium. Additional taxa mentioned in the literature complete the diversity of parallelodontids of the Carboniferous Kulm Basin and adjacent basinal settings. Parallelodon decheni proves to be the most characteristic parallelodontid in the Kulm Basin. In addition, material from the Strunian of Germany, here described as Parallelodon pauli n. sp., is available to infer the development of the Kulm parallelodontids from the external shelf areas of the latest Devonian. The diversity of parallelodontids in basinal settings is surprisingly high despite the atypical habitat of Palaeozoic arcoids. Phenotypic plasticity of life-history traits is well known among vertebrate species. We estimated reproductive and somatic efforts of female Columbian ground squirrels (Urocitellus columbianus (Ord, 1815)) to test for plasticity of these important resource allocations. We examined a 27-year dataset of life-history traits on these long-living (8–10 years), hibernating, montane-living mammals. Environmental variation was estimated from two important traits of mothers, their relative timing of breeding and spring maternal body mass (initial "capital" for use in subsequent reproduction). Results from 183 known-aged mothers and 508 litters revealed considerable variation in the relative timing of breeding, initial maternal mass, and reproductive and somatic efforts, as well as significant variation among ages and years. Results from 125 mothers that reproduced more than once (and 450 litters) revealed significant plasticity of reproductive and somatic efforts with respect to relative timing of breeding and spring maternal mass. A within-subject centering statistical approach showed that phenotypically plastic reproductive and somatic efforts were due to variation within individuals, but were not always reflected by the pattern of responses among individuals in the population. A broad consensus has been reached on the need to adapt the management of our forests to the context of the rapidly changing climate, which resulted in the development of numerous models capable of simulating the impact of the climate change on the forest. The primary goal of this specific endeavor is to propose a novel framework of comparative analysis which could lead to the unique and universal description and mapping of these models. This framework is based on the reduction of the model output to the relatively simplistic information about the presence of the tree species suitable for the forest management i.e.,—a binary classifier, making it comparable with the largely available tree presence observations. The framework we propose comes along with a new score, based on the joint use of the Principal Component Analysis and the Co-inertia Analysis, which evaluates the model vis-á-vis the corresponding observations with the focus on its phase space dynamics, i.e., its dependence on external environmental variables, rather than its spatial precision. The pertinence of the proposed multi-scale approach, suitable for the multi-scale analysis, is demonstrated by conjointly using prototype binary classifiers, designed for this purpose, and two different examples of binary classifiers used in the forest management—climate-dependent tree species distribution models. This work has the ambition to serve as the basis for a potential combination of different models at different spatial scales in order to improve the decision-making process in the forest management. Parentage analyses via molecular markers have revealed multiple paternity within the broods of polytocous species, reshaping our understanding of animal behavior, ecology, and evolution. In a meta‐analysis of multiple paternity in bird and mammal species, we conducted a literature search and found 138 bird and 64 mammal populations with microsatellite DNA paternity results. Bird populations averaged 19.5% multiple paternity and mammals more than twice that level (46.1%). We used a Bayesian approach to construct a null model for how multiple paternity should behave at random among species, under the assumption that all mated males have equal likelihood of siring success, given mean brood size and mean number of sires. We compared the differences between the null model and the actual probabilities of multiple paternity. While a few bird populations fell close to the null model, most did not, averaging 34.0‐percentage points below null model predictions; mammals had an average probability of multiple paternity 13.6‐percentage points below the null model. Differences between bird and mammal species were also subjected to comparative phylogenetic analyses that generally confirmed our analyses that did not adjust for estimated historical relationships. Birds exhibited extremely low probabilities of multiple paternity, not only compared to mammals but also relative to other major animal taxa. The generally low probability of multiple paternity in birds might be produced by a variety of factors, including behaviors that reflect sexual selection (extreme mate guarding or unifocal female choice) and sperm competition (e.g., precedence effects favoring fertilization by early or late matings). The elastic properties of conductance arteries are one of the most important hemodynamic functions in the body, and data continue to emerge regarding the importance of their dysfunction in vascular aging and a range of cardiovascular diseases. Here, we provide new insight into the integrative physiology of arterial stiffening and its clinical consequence. We also comprehensively review progress made on pathways/molecules that appear today as important basic determinants of arterial stiffness, particularly those mediating the vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) contractility, plasticity and stiffness. We focus on membrane and nuclear mechanotransduction, clearance function of the vascular wall, phenotypic switching of VSMCs, immunoinflammatory stimuli and epigenetic mechanisms. Finally, we discuss the most important advances of the latest clinical studies that revisit the classical therapeutic concepts of arterial stiffness and lead to a patient-by-patient strategy according to cardiovascular risk exposure and underlying disease. With the advent of nanotechnologies, it has been possible to extend the number of stimuli that can be used to control the state of a magnetic nanostructure. Among those stimuli, single laser pulse excitation allows, under certain conditions, to obtain energy-efficient ultrafast magnetization reversal. With this respect, two different types of single pulse switching mechanisms have been reported. The first one consists in a sub-picosecond ultrafast toggle switching, which was observed mainly in Gd based alloys. The second type relies on sub-nanosecond precessional switching occurring in rare earth–transition metal alloys/multilayers. Here, we demonstrate that single pulse all optical switching is achieved in Co68Tb32/Co100−xGdx/Co68Tb32 trilayers in which the behavior can be tuned from toggle to precessional by changing the composition of the Co100−xGdx alloy. Increasing product variety and fluctuating demand have led to the need of assembly systems that can adapt to multiple different products as the return of investment for dedicated assembly lines is more and more difficult to achieve. In response to this challenge, the paradigm of reconfigurable assembly systems has emerged. However, configuring and optimizing these systems still pose challenges in the industry. This paper proposes a new simple optimization approach for the configuration analysis and optimization of a reconfigurable multi-product assembly system in the automotive industry, using configuration selection, task allocation, and sequencing. This paper analyses data from a novel collective agri-environmental scheme (cAES) in Alsace, France, designed to protect the local European hamster population by motivating farmers to engage in habitat conservation measures. In contrast to typical conservation contracts that pay individual farmers based on their own performance, the cAES studied here pays farmers only when the percentage of land conserved by all farmers within a collective zone reaches a critical threshold. We find that the likelihood of participation is higher for farmers with a relatively large agricultural surface within the collective zone, increases with the number of farmers in a collective zone, and increases over time. Those with more land in the collective zone allocate more acreage to conservation. We define different contributor types and provide insight into the possible motives underlying contributions to collective conservation schemes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article discusses the presence of FcεRI and FcεRII receptors on human platelets and their potential role in IgE-mediated anaphylaxis. The study found that platelets from healthy donors and allergic patients do not possess these receptors on their surface, as confirmed by flow cytometric analysis and Western blot analysis. Furthermore, platelets did not respond directly to IgE stimulation. However, the study acknowledges that platelets may still contribute to IgE-mediated anaphylaxis indirectly. This work presents the study of the conformations of {[Choline][Chloride]:Phenol} ratio [1:2] and {[Choline][Chloride]:Glycolic acid} ratio [1:1] deep eutectic solvents in their isolated state and with the presence of water. The optimization of the geometries was carried out using density functional theory with the B3LYP functional and the 6–311(+ +)G(d,p) basis set. Through the study of the geometry optimization and the charge distribution, the most stable conformations of choline, choline chloride, the two aforementioned deep eutectic solvents and their cluster with water are detailed. The main hydrogen bonds are identified using the values of stabilizing energies between interacting orbitals. The results highlight the OH‧‧‧Cl type of hydrogen bonds as one of the key interactions. It is found that the chloride ion acts as a hydrogen bond acceptor while the choline ion acts primarily as a hydrogen bond donor. Glycolic acid and phenol can play both roles. The molecule of water is able to form various hydrogen bonds. The strongest hydrogen bonds are observed between the chloride ion and a hydroxyl group. Finally, an increasing total number of hydrogen bonds in a system decreases the strength of the overall interactions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This work presents the development of a new photothermal radiometry (PTR) setup using a mix between frequency and spatial domain scans, along with a three-dimensional (3D) heat diffusion model. This newly developed PTR system, with a spatial resolution of 33 μm, is used to measure thermophysical properties of several kinds of materials. These properties include the thermal diffusivity, a, of homogeneous semi-infinite materials, thermal boundary resistance, R t h , and thermal anisotropy of membranes. The measured properties for homogeneous semi-infinite materials and two-layered systems are in good agreement with the literature values. In addition, it was possible to obtain an anisotropic factor of 24.6 between the in-plane and cross-plane thermal diffusivity of a 25 μm anisotropic flexible graphite sheet. Furthermore, it was also possible to measure, both directly and independently, the anisotropic thermal diffusivities for a 1 μm titanium membrane. It is suggested that this new hybrid technique can help us to fill the gap between conventional PTR and other photothermal and thermoreflectance techniques. Using this PTR setup, it is possible to experimentally measure isotropic and anisotropic thermophysical properties of bulk and thin materials, including membranes, with high precision through accurate characterization of the pump beam spots size. The increasing CO2 concentration in the atmosphere has a severe influence on both the environment and human health, resulting in global warming. According to the high adsorption capacity for CO2 removal, zeolites play an important role for CO2 capture and sequestration. However, its powdery form limits their use in adsorption applications. When binding agents are used, the zeolite porosity is partially occluded that compromises the CO2 adsorption capacity severely. How to prepare binder‐free zeolite beads with a certain structure strength and how to keep the high surface area and porosity are a great challenge. In this work, LTA‐5A beads composites (80 wt.%) are prepared via cationic photopolymerization and then calcination is performed to remove organic part to obtain LTA‐5A beads with different sizes (<1.0 mm, 1.0–2.0 mm, and 2.0–3.0 mm). These beads (0.1 g) are characterized by good mechanical strength without any binder (partial bead fragmentation under 200 g‐load) with a preserved zeolite porosity. This method allows to exploit the zeolite beads reaching a high specific surface area (586 688 m2 g−1) and good CO2 adsorption capacity (4.5‐4.9 mmol g−1). These values are higher than those of commercial LTA‐5A beads (515 m2 g−1 and 3.8 mmol g−1, respectively), which is in agreement with their binder‐free structure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We have studied the laser induced ultrafast quenching of Gd 4f magnetic order in ferrimagnetic Co100-xGdx alloys to highlight the role of the Co 3d–Gd 5d inter-atomic exchange coupling. We have taken advantage of the ultrashort soft X-ray pulses deliver by the femtoslicing beamline at the BESSY II synchrotron radiation source at the Helmholtz–Zentrum Berlin to perform element- and time-resolved X-ray Magnetic Circular Dichroism spectroscopy. Our results show that the laser induced quenching of Gd 4f magnetic order occurs on very different time-scales for the Co72Gd28, the Co77Gd23 and the Co79Gd21 alloys. Most of the magnetic moment losses occur within the first picosecond (ps) while the electron distribution is strongly out of equilibrium. After the equilibration of the electrons and lattice temperatures (t > 1 ps), the magnetic losses occur on slower rates that depend on the alloy composition: increasing the Co composition speeds up the demagnetization of Gd 4f sublattice. The strength of the Co 3d–Gd 5d inter-atomic exchange coupling which depends on composition, determines the efficiency of the angular momentum flow from the Gd 4f spin towards the lattice. Our results are in qualitative agreements with the predictions of the microscopic three temperatures model for ferrimagnetic alloys. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The growth of hexagonal boron nitride (h‐BN) and van der Waals (vdW) epitaxy of blue multi‐quantum well (MQW) GaN‐based LED heterostructures on 6‐inch sapphire substrates using metal‐organic chemical vapour deposition (MOCVD) is demonstrated. Challenges associated with the growth of large surface h‐BN and the subsequent vdW epitaxy of GaN‐based LED heterostructures are discussed. To overcome these challenges, the spatial uniformity is controlled of the growth temperature, optimizes the slope of temperature variations during the growth and cooling process, and manages the surface temperature during switching of gas flows. With these adaptations, high quality GaN‐based LED heterostructures are grown on h‐BN without any spontaneous delamination. The GaN‐based LED devices are then fabricated on a 6‐inch sapphire wafer, which are lifted off as a membrane and transferred to a flexible copper support. These GaN‐based LED devices emitt bright blue illumination with an electroluminescence peak at 437 nm. This scaling up of growth, lift‐off, and transfer can lead to the commercialization of GaN‐based LEDs on h‐BN template on 6‐inch sapphire substrates, with a process compatible with current modern equipment for the fabrication of LEDs and electronic devices. Symbolic protocol verification generally abstracts probabilities away, considering computations that succeed only with negligible probability, such as guessing random numbers or breaking an encryption scheme, as impossible. This abstraction, sometimes referred to as the perfect cryptography assumption, has shown very useful as it simplifies automation of the analysis. However, probabilities may also appear in the control flow where they are generally not negligible. In this paper we consider a framework for symbolic protocol analysis with a probabilistic choice operator: the probabilistic applied π-calculus. We define and explore the relationships between several behavioral equivalences. In particular we show the need for randomized schedulers and exhibit a counter-example to a result in a previous work that relied on non-randomized ones. As in other frameworks that mix both non-deterministic and probabilistic choices, schedulers may sometimes be unrealistically powerful. We therefore consider two subclasses of processes that avoid this problem. In particular, when considering purely non-deterministic protocols, as is done in classical symbolic verification, we show that a probabilistic adversary has – maybe surprisingly – a strictly superior distinguishing power for may testing, which, when the number of sessions is bounded, we show to coincide with purely possibilistic similarity. This experiment shows how different levels of fines in three antitrust policies—no leniency (NL), standard leniency (LP), and amnesty plus (AP)—can deter multimarket cartels. With a low fine, AP significantly increases multimarket cartels and leads to higher prices. With a high fine, it has the same effect on collusion as do other policies. With regard to one-market cartels, AP decreases cartel stability relative to LP. With a high fine, it leads to more reporting than does LP, before any investigation and after a first cartel conviction. Single Pulse All Optical Switching represents the ability to reverse the magnetization of a nanostructure using a femtosecond single laser pulse without any applied field. Since the first switching experiments carried out on GdFeCo ferrimagnets, this phenomena has been only recently extended to a few other materials, MnRuGa alloys and Tb/Co multilayers with a very specific range of thickness and composition. Here, we demonstrate that single pulse switching can be obtained for a large range of rare earth–transition metal multilayers, making this phenomenon much more general. Surprisingly, the threshold fluence for switching is observed to be independent of the laser pulse duration. Moreover, at high laser intensities, concentric ring domain structures are induced. These striking features contrast to those observed in Gd based materials pointing towards a different reversal mechanism. Concomitant with the demonstration of an in-plane magnetization reorientation, a precessional reversal mechanism explains all the observed features. All-optical switching of magnetization refers to the process whereby an optical pulse is used to reverse the magnetization of a magnetic system. In a small subset of magnetic materials, this process can occur with a single optical pulse, known as single-shot all optical switching, enabling fast operations. Here, Peng et al show that this process can occur for a wide variety of rare earth–transition metal multilayers, expanding the range of potential materials that can exhibit this effect. Several technological challenges have prevented GaN‐based micro‐LEDs from finding application in mass market displays, despite their unique properties such as very high brightness and the very fast response time of GaN‐based materials. The primary challenges are the cost and complexity of lift‐off and transfer of LEDs from sapphire substrates to suitable supports as well as the lowered performance of tiny micro‐LEDs caused by chemical etching that defines individual LEDs. Herein, this work reports demonstration of a complete process that solves these challenges with epitaxy and cleanroom technologies that are commercially available. The process begins with van der Waals epitaxy of 2D h‐BN on silica masks with square, triangular and hexagonal patterns on sapphire substrates which define the micro‐LED regions. Then selective area growth of MQW LED heterostructures, with ultra smooth crystalline sidewalls, down to ultra tiny size of 1.4 µm is performed. Because of the lack of vertical chemical bonds in the h‐BN layer, simple mechanical lift‐off and transfer is performed on an array of LEDs heterostructures down to size of 8 µm. Finally, transparent ITO p‐contacts are deposited on LEDs with uniform lift‐off, resulting in high brightness LEDs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are bioplastics that can serve as substitutes for petroleum-based plastics with the advantages of being biodegradable, biocompatible, and biobased. The microbial production of polyhydroxyalkanoates is generally conducted in the presence of sugar mixes rich in monosaccharides. In this study, molecular and cultural approaches based on forest soils enriched with hydrocarbon complexes led to the identification and isolation of microbial strains affiliated with Paraburkholderia sp. that dominated the microbial communities that are recognized among the top polyhydroxyalkanoates producers. The genome sequencing of those isolated affiliated strains showed that compared to the reference type strain of their species, they harbored more gene copies of the enzymes involved in PHB synthesis. The microbial conversion of sugar mixes for the newly isolated strains showed a higher PHB production (g/L) and content (%) than was exhibited by the reference strain type of that genus Paraburkholderia for PHB production (P. sacchari LMG 19450T). Cyclobis(paraquat‐p‐phenylene), also known as "blue box", is a highly electron‐deficient macrocycle, widely used as a molecular receptor for small electron‐rich molecules. Inserting a reactive functional group onto the molecular structure of this cyclophane is paramount for its inclusion into complex architectures. To this aim, including an alkyne moiety would be ideal, because it can participate in click reactions. However, the synthesis of such alkyne‐functionalized cyclophane suffers from several drawbacks: the use of toxic and expensive CCl4, the need for high‐pressure reactors, and overall low yield. We have revised the existing synthesis of this cyclophane derivative bearing an alkyne moiety, to overcome all these limitations. In particular, photochemical radical bromination is adopted to obtain a sensitive intermediate. We demonstrated that the synthesized host molecule can be functionalized via click reactions and take part in radical‐radical interactions. Our work makes a key functionalized paraquat macrocycle more accessible, facilitating the development of novel redox‐responsive systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The increased spread and persistence of bacterial drug-resistant phenotypes remains a public health concern and has contributed significantly to the challenge of combating antibiotic resistance. Nanotechnology is considered an encouraging strategy in the fight against antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections; this new strategy should improve therapeutic efficacy and minimize side effects. Evidence has shown that various nanomaterials with antibacterial performance, such as metal-based nanoparticles (i.e., silver, gold, copper, and zinc oxide) have intrinsic antibacterial properties. These antibacterial agents, such as those made of metal oxides, carbon nanomaterials, and polymers, have been used not only to improve antibacterial efficacy but also to reduce bacterial drug resistance due to their interaction with bacteria and their photophysical properties. These nanostructures have been used as effective agents for photothermal therapy (PTT) and photodynamic therapy (PDT) to kill bacteria locally by heating or the controlled production of reactive oxygen species. Additionally, PTT or PDT therapies have also been combined with photoacoustic (PA) imaging to simultaneously improve treatment efficacy, safety, and accuracy. In this present review, we present, on the one hand, a summary of research highlighting the use of PTT-sensitive metallic nanomaterials for the treatment of bacterial and fungal infections, and, on the other hand, an overview of studies showing the PA-mediated theranostic functionality of metal-based nanomaterials. Heat storage technologies are essential for increasing the use of solar energy in the household sector. Their development can be achieved by designing new storage materials; one way is to impregnate a porous matrix with hygroscopic salts. In this article, the possibility of using biochar-based composite sorbents to develop promising new heat storage materials for efficient thermal storage is explored. Biochar-based composites with defined salt loadings (5, 10, 15, and 20%) were produced by impregnating MgSO4 into a biochar matrix derived from corn cobs. The new materials demonstrated a high water sorption capacity of 0.24 g/g (20MgCC). After six successive charging-discharging cycles (dehydration/dehydration cycles), only a negligible variation of the heat released and the water uptake was measured, confirming the absence of deactivation of 20MgCC upon cycling. The new 20MgCC composite showed an energy storage density of 635 J/g (Tads = 30 °C and RH = 60%), higher than that of other composites containing a similar amount of hydrate salt. The macroporous nature of this biochar increases the available surface for salt deposition. During the hydration step, the water molecules effectively diffuse through a homogeneous layer of salt, as described by the intra-particle model applied in this work. BACKGROUND: Adaptive radiotherapy (ART) aims to address anatomical modifications appearing during the treatment of patients by modifying the planning treatment according to the daily positioning image. Clinical implementation of ART relies on the quality of the deformable image registration (DIR) algorithms included in the ART workflow. To translate ART into clinical practice, automatic DIR assessment is needed. OBJECTIVE: This article aims to estimate spatial misalignment between two head and neck kilovoltage computed tomography (kVCT) images by using two convolutional neural networks (CNNs). METHODS: The first CNN quantifies misalignments between 0 mm and 15 mm and the second CNN detects and classifies misalignments into two classes (poor alignment and good alignment). Both networks take pairs of patches of 33x33x33 mm 3 as inputs and use only the image intensity information. The training dataset was built by deforming kVCT images with basis splines (B-splines) to simulate DIR error maps. The test dataset was built using 2500 landmarks, consisting of hard and soft landmark tissues annotated by 6 clinicians at 10 locations. RESULTS: The quantification CNN reaches a mean error of 1.26 mm (± 1.75 mm) on the landmark set which, depending on the location, has annotation errors between 1 mm and 2 mm. The errors obtained for the quantification network fit the computed interoperator error. The classification network achieves an overall accuracy of 79.32%, and although the classification network overdetects poor alignments, it performs well (i.e., it achieves a rate of 90.4%) in detecting poor alignments when given one. Hexagonal boron nitride is shown to exhibit very significant persistent photoconductivity after UV illumination. This behavior can be initiated by sub-bandgap or close to bandgap illumination. Neither temperature nor pressure affects the buildup of photoinduced carriers. The effect persists at least for months at room temperature and is maintained significantly after heating up to 300 °C. Up to six orders of magnitude increased conductivity has been durably established in the devices, and the effect is reproducible. Double exponential fitting gives time constants up to 4600 days. Irradiation after having saturated the devices is shown to drastically reduce the decay rate. The bulk origin of such effect has been demonstrated. p-hBN/n-AlGaN diodes based on magnesium doped h-BN have been used to determine the type of conductivity through studies of junction capacitance variations under UV irradiation. Depending on illumination wavelength, both n- and p-type durable photoinduced carriers can be produced. These results are of interest for UVC LEDs in which the usual conductive AlGaN layers are still a hurdle toward efficient UV emitters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
