The paternal attachment that fathers establish with their infants during pregnancy forms the basis of postnatal relationships and strongly affects the dynamics within the family. The present study was conducted to determine the effects of fathers’ gender role attitudes, marital adjustment, and maternal attachment on prenatal paternal attachment in the third trimester in Turkiye. This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted between January and November 2023 and included 255 fathers whose partner was between 28 and 40 weeks old and who had a healthy pregnancy and their partners in the obstetric outpatient clinic of one of the most advanced university hospitals. The relevant data for the study were collected via the “Descriptive Characteristics Form,” “Gender Role Attitudes Scale,” “Marital Adjustment Scale,” “Prenatal Attachment Inventory,” and “Paternal Antenatal Attachment Scale.” The descriptive characteristics data form was completed by the fathers, the gender role attitudes scale, the marital adjustment scale, and the prenatal attachment scale were completed by the fathers, and the prenatal attachment inventory was completed by their partners. Descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, one-way ANOVA, the Bonferroni correction, post hoc tests, and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the data. Among the descriptive characteristics evaluated, paternal age (p = .075) and perceived economic status (p = .216) were not revealed to have any effect on prenatal paternal attachment. Gender role attitudes (p = .238) and maternal attachment (p = .178) also had no effect on paternal attachment. Marital adjustment affected prenatal paternal attachment (p = .000). Since marital adjustment was found to be effective on paternal attachment in this study, it is recommended that this variable be integrated into prenatal care practices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: To measure the relationships between dyadic coping, marital adjustment, and post-traumatic growth in patients with maintenance hemodialysis and their spouses. Background: Post-traumatic growth is common in patients facing maintenance hemodialysis. However, studies tend to focus on these patients as individuals rather than as part of a couple. Dyadic coping in a couple is important for their marital adjustment; however, little is known about how a couple's dyadic coping influences their marital adjustment and impacts their posttraumatic growth. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted among patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis and their spouses. Patients were recruited between December 2021 and October 2022 using convenience sampling from the blood purification centers of two first-class tertiary hospitals. A total of 230 couples (460 individuals) of patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis and their spouses were enrolled. A general condition questionnaire, the dyadic coping scale, and the Locke-Wallace marital adjustment scale were used for assessments and data entry and analysis were performed using EpiData 3.1, SPSS 25.0, and Mplus 8.4. Results: The dyadic coping of patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis was positively correlated with both marital adjustment and posttraumatic growth, as was the dyadic coping of their spouses. The marital adjustment of both patients and their spouses was found to partially mediate the association between dyadic coping and posttraumatic growth. Conclusion: Subject-mediated effects between the levels of dyadic coping, marital adjustment, and posttraumatic growth were established for both patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis and their spouses, and it was found that the marital adjustment in both showed varying degrees of mediation in the relationship between their dyadic coping and posttraumatic growth. Impact: The findings of the study suggest that attention should be given to promoting dyadic coping behaviors in patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis and their spouses. In this study, we examined self–other agreement in married couples to examine the association between their perceptions of self and other psychological problems and dyadic adjustment. We also postulated that dyadic adjustment would moderate self–other agreement ratings on low- and high-visibility traits of psychological problems. Using a cross-informant assessment design, 101 married dyads in three marital groups (non-clinical, transplant, and divorcing dyads) provided reciprocal self and other ratings for psychological problems. Self–other agreement indices were quantified using self–other differences scores and Pearson r, qualifying (Q) correlations. The self–other agreement models yielded significant differences in dyadic adjustment across couple types. Couples that demonstrated moderate to elevated levels of self–other agreement for psychological problems had higher levels of dyadic adjustment. Differences in self–other psychological problem ratings were robust predictors of dyadic maladjustment and poor relational quality. Dyadic adjustment was found to moderate self–other agreement for psychological problems, especially for wives' appraisals and husbands' attunement to wives' low-visibility problems. The findings validate the impact of self–other agreement in models of relationship conflict and adjustment. Wive's other views tended to have large effect sizes in dyadic adjustment. To date, previous research has elucidated the impact of adult attachment type on marital relationships. However, the mechanisms underpinning the relationship between attachment type and marital adjustment in breast cancer patients remain unclear. In this study, a cohort of 272 breast cancer patients was surveyed using several instruments: the General Information Questionnaire, Revised Marital Adjustment Scale (RDAS), Adult Attachment Scale (AAS), Interpersonal Reactivity Indicator Scale (IRI), and Regulated Emotional Self-Efficacy Scale (RESS). We conducted moderated mediation analyses using the SPSS macro program PROCESS plug-in. Empathy was found to mediate the association between attachment type (attachment anxiety/attachment avoidance) and marital adjustment, with indirect effects of −0.141 (95% CI [−0.260, −0.063]) and 0.157 (95% CI [0.073,0.289]), respectively. Additionally, affect regulation self-efficacy was found to mediate the subsequent impact of attachment type (attachment anxiety/attachment avoidance) on marital adjustment via empathy, with moderated effects of 0.380 (95% CI [0.236, 0.525]) and 0.374 (95% CI [0.240, 0.509]), respectively. Consequently, the presence of insecure attachment in breast cancer patients appears to influence their empathy levels, thereby negatively impacting marital adjustment. Encouragingly, enhancing emotional regulation self-efficacy in patients holds the potential to mitigate these adverse effects. These findings contribute not only to a deeper theoretical understanding but also lay a solid foundation for practical interventions aimed at enhancing marital relationships among breast cancer patients. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between marital adjustment, spiritual well-being, and locus of control in married couples. A total of 526 married individuals living in İzmir, Turkey, 283 (53.8%) women and 243 (46.2%) men between the ages of 18 and 65, participated in the research. The married individuals were evaluated individually rather than as couples. The of control scale (LCS) developed by Dağ, the marital adjustment test (MAT) developed by Locke and Wallace and adapted into Turkish by Tutarel Kışlak, the spiritual well-being scale (SWBS) developed by Ekşi and Kardaş, and a socio-demographic information form were applied to the participants. SPSS 22.0 was used for statistical analysis of the data obtained in the study. The findings were evaluated at a 5% significance level within a 95% confidence interval (p < 0.05). The findings of the study revealed that the marital adjustment of male participants was higher than that of females, and that as spiritual well-being increased, marital adjustment also increased. A positive relationship was found between transcendence, one of the sub-dimensions of spiritual well-being, and marital adjustment and internal locus of control. Similarly, a positive correlation was identified between harmony with nature and marital adjustment and internal locus of control, while a negative relationship was found between anomie and marital adjustment and internal locus of control. Moreover, negative and significant relationships were found between marital adjustment and external locus of control determinants such as belief in luck, meaninglessness of making an effort, belief in an unjust world, and anomie, one of the sub-dimensions of spiritual well-being. Additionally, a positive relationship was found between higher education and internal locus of control, and a positive relationship between marriages conducted between the ages of 17 and 20 and an external locus of control. Objective: To understand the status and related factors of emotional inhibition among women receiving in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET). Methods: A total of 791 women receiving IVF-ET from a specialized hospital in Changsha were selected, and surveyed with the General Questionnaire, Emotional Inhibition Scale (EIS), Locke-Wollance Marital Adjustment Questionnaire, Self-Compassion Scale and Medical Coping Mode Questionnaire. Results: The average score of EIS in women receiving IVF-ET was (28.0±6.4). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the EIS scores in women receiving IVF-ET were negatively associated with infertility factors (β = -9.23, 4.56, 2.86), personality type (β = 1.11), and marital adjustment, confrontation and self-compassion scores (β = -0.03, 0.13,0.05), and positively associated with residence and surrender dimension scores (β = 0. 82, 0. 20). Conclusion: It suggests that women receiving IVF-ET have a certain degree of emotional inhibition, which is related to infertility factors, residence, personality type, self-compassion, marital adjustment, confrontation, and surrender. AbstractThe aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of a mindfulness-based training program in improving marital adjustment and reducing impulsivity among Iranian couples. The study used a quasi-experimental design with two groups: experimental and control. The sample of the current study consisted of 16 married couples from the city of Tehran, totaling 32 participants. The participants were randomly assigned to two groups, experimental and control, with each group consisting of 8 couples. The results indicated the effectiveness of the mindfulness program in enhancing marital adjustment, with the posttest mean rising to (2.86), and the average impulsivity score decreased to 2.59, indicating a significant reduction in impulsivity among Iranian couples. Mindfulness-based therapy directly affects participants’ ability to regulate immediate emotions. This increased awareness significantly helps in managing harmful mental behaviors such as impulsivity, substance abuse, and poor adaptability. Future research should investigate the broader effects of mindfulness on mental and behavioral outcomes, with a focus on addressing impulsivity in young couples. Additionally, incorporating mindfulness-based therapy for couples both before and during marriage could enhance interpersonal relationships and overall quality of life. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aims/BackgroundDesign/MethodResultsConclusionCoping with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) presents significant challenges for pregnant women and their partners, which may result in elevated prenatal depression symptoms. However, research has predominantly centred on pregnant women with GDM, with little involvement of their partners. To understand their dyadic interactions, it is imperative to involve GDM couples in the study. This study aims to examine the interplay between dyadic coping and prenatal depression symptoms among GDM couples and to explore the possible mediating role of marital satisfaction.A cross-sectional study was conducted in Guangzhou, China. A total of 400 couples completed the Dyadic Coping Inventory, Locke-Wallace Marital Adjustment Scale, Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, and sociodemographic data sheet. The actor-partner interdependence mediation model was utilised for dyadic data analysis.Overall, 13.0% of pregnant women with GDM and 8.3% of partners experienced elevated prenatal depression symptoms. Dyadic coping was directly or indirectly related to their own and partners’ prenatal depression symptoms in GDM couples, with marital satisfaction acting as a mediator. Specifically, positive dyadic coping was associated with lower prenatal depression symptoms, while negative dyadic coping exhibited an opposite relationship.The prevalence of elevated prenatal depression symptoms was high in GDM couples. It is important to view pregnant women with GDM and their partners as a dyad of a transactional system in prenatal clinical care. Couple-centred interventions targeting to enhance positive dyadic coping and mitigate negative dyadic coping might be beneficial to prevent and alleviate prenatal depression symptoms. Background Alcohol dependence patients has many negative effects on the wives of patients including domestic violence. The wives are in a position where their mental state can be severely compromised, leading to various psychiatric morbidities. The current study examined the prevalence of domestic violence, level of marital satisfaction and their correlation with the psychiatric morbidities present among the spouses of alcohol dependence patients. Aims and objectives This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of alcohol dependence and level of marital satisfaction as well as their relationship with the psychiatric morbidities among the spouses of alcohol dependent patients. Methods A cross-sectional study of 60 spouses of patients diagnosed with Alcohol dependence syndrome as per the ICD-10, recruited using purposive sampling technique was conducted over 6 months. The wives were administered a semi-structured pro forma along with Modified conflict tactics scale, Marital Adjustment Test (MAT) and the general health questionnaire-28 (GHQ-28). Results and discussion Domestic violence was highly prevalent (76.67%) in the wives of patients with alcohol dependence syndrome. A statistically significant correlation was seen between domestic violence and marital satisfaction. It was seen that those who experienced domestic violence were having various psychiatric morbidities. Statistically significant relationships were seen between domestic violence, marital satisfaction and presence of various psychiatric morbidities. Conclusion The study highlights the importance of screening for domestic violence in the wives of alcohol dependence patients as it is highly prevalent and lead to low level of marital satisfaction and various psychiatric morbidities. To demonstrate the burden of sexual dysfunction (SD) among females with rheumatic diseases, we conducted a cross-sectional comparative study in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and Behçet's syndrome (BS) along with suitable healthy controls (HCs). Age-matched female patients with SSc (n = 50), SLE (n = 49), and BS (n = 54), along with 52 female HCs were included in this study between April and October, 2021. Sociodemographic features were recorded, and psychometric tests, i.e., female sexual function index (FSFI), Beck depression inventory (BDI), body cathexis scale, and marital adjustment test (MAT) were performed. Scale scores were compared, and binary logistic regression was used to identify predictors for SD in the whole group. The total FSFI and body cathexis scores among the patient groups were significantly lower than those of the HCs (p < 0.001). Depression was significantly more frequent in the patient groups. MAT scores did not differ significantly between the study groups. Patients with SSc had the worst scores in each psychometric index, including MAT. Decreased body cathexis score [OR 0.974, 95% CI (0.957–0.991), p = 0.003] and low MAT score [OR 0.937, 95% CI (0.896–0.980), p = 0.005], and being diagnosed with SSc [OR 6.6, 95% CI (1.975–22.498), p = 0.002], SLE [OR 2.7, 95% CI (0.998–7.753), p = 0.050], and BS [OR 2.8, 95% CI (1.100–7.359), p = 0.031], were identified as independent predictors for SD. Body cathexis seems to be the most important independent predictor for SD, and the burden of SD appears heavier in patients with SSc, probably due to poor body image satisfaction. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the Imago therapy approach on marital adjustment and love styles in married students with early marriages. Methods and Materials: The research employed a semi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. The statistical population studied included second-year high school students from vocational and technical schools in Mashhad during the 2021-2022 academic year. A purposive sampling method was used, and the participants were randomly assigned to a 15-member experimental group and a 15-member control group. The experimental group underwent 10 sessions of Imago therapy intervention and training. Subsequently, post-tests were conducted using questionnaires on both groups, and follow-up tests were administered at the end. To measure the level of marital adjustment, the Spanier Marital Adjustment Questionnaire (1976) was used, and to assess attitudes toward love, the Hendrick Love Attitudes Scale (1986) was utilized. The data were analyzed using inferential statistics through the SPSS statistical software. Findings: The results of the covariance analysis indicated that the Imago therapy model was effective in increasing marital adjustment and love styles, suggesting that this approach can be used in therapeutic and counseling sessions. Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that Imago therapy significantly improves marital adjustment and love styles in married students with early marriages. Post-intervention scores in the experimental group showed a meaningful increase in marital adjustment and strong attitudes toward love compared to the control group. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the predictive roles of psychological flexibility and frustration discomfort on marital adjustment among married women. Specifically, it sought to assess how these psychological constructs influence marital satisfaction and cohesion. Methods and Materials: A cross-sectional design was employed, sampling 350 married women from various counseling centers in Tehran in 2023. Participants completed standardized questionnaires measuring marital adjustment (Dyadic Adjustment Scale), psychological flexibility (Acceptance and Action Questionnaire - II), and frustration discomfort (Frustration Discomfort Scale). Multiple linear regression analyses were conducted using SPSS version 27 to explore the predictive value of psychological flexibility and frustration discomfort on marital adjustment, adjusting for potential confounders such as age and gender. Findings: The results revealed that both psychological flexibility (ß = 0.25, p < 0.01) and frustration discomfort (ß = 0.29, p < 0.01) significantly predicted marital adjustment, accounting for 42% of the variance in marital adjustment scores. These findings indicate that higher levels of psychological flexibility and lower levels of frustration discomfort are associated with better marital satisfaction and cohesion. Conclusion: The study underscores the importance of psychological flexibility and frustration discomfort in influencing marital adjustment. It suggests that interventions aimed at enhancing psychological flexibility and reducing frustration discomfort may contribute to improving marital satisfaction and stability. Introduction: End‐stage renal disease is different from other chronic diseases that the treatment method is as difficult. Our aim in this study was to compare marital adjustment, sexual functions and family functioning between hemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD) patient. Method: A total of 21 HD and 27 PD patients were included. Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Short Form‐36 (SF‐36), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Arizona Sexual Experiences Scale (ASEX), Golombok‐Rust Inventory for Sexual Satisfaction (GRISS), Marital Adjustment Test (MAT) and Family Assessment Device (FAD) were applied. Results: BDI scores were significantly higher in HD patients (p < 0.001). According to FAD problem solving (p < 0.001), communication (p = 0.00) and general functioning scores (p = 0.04) were higher in PD. The rate of poor sleep quality was 44.4% in the PD group, and 66.7% in HD group (p = 0.12). General health (p = 0.04), vitality (p < 0.001), mental health (p = 0.00) and social functioning (p = 0.00) scores were lower in HD patients. Conclusion: HD patients are at high risk for psychiatric disorders due to the treatment modality. These patients should be monitored carefully and consultation‐liaison services should be increased. Objective: The study aimed to investigate the predictive roles of self-compassion and marital self-regulation on marital adjustment among married women attending counseling centers in Tehran in 2023. It sought to enrich the understanding of how these psychological constructs contribute to marital satisfaction and stability. Methods: A cross-sectional design was employed with a sample of 350 married women selected through available sampling from various counseling centers in Tehran. Measures included the Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS) to assess marital adjustment, the Self-Compassion Scale developed by Neff (2003) for evaluating self-compassion levels, and a 16-item scale by Wilson et al. (2005) for measuring marital self-regulation. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS 27, with linear regression analyses performed to explore the relationships between the constructs. Findings: The findings revealed that both self-compassion and marital self-regulation significantly predicted marital adjustment among the participants. Specifically, higher levels of self-compassion and marital self-regulation were associated with better marital adjustment. The regression model explained 37% of the variance in marital adjustment scores, highlighting the substantial impact of these factors on marital satisfaction. Conclusion: This study underscores the critical importance of self-compassion and marital self-regulation in fostering marital adjustment. The findings suggest that interventions aimed at enhancing these psychological resources could contribute significantly to improving marital satisfaction and relationship stability among couples, particularly those seeking counseling services. These patients were surveyed using a general data questionnaire, the Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scale (RDAS), the Interpersonal Reactivity Index-C (IRI-C), and the Emotional Regulation Self-Efficacy Scale (RESS). Latent profile analysis (LPA) was used to determine different types of marital adjustment among patients, and influencing factors for the various profiles were identified through univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis.Results: Marital adjustment in patients with breast cancer was categorized into three latent profiles: the “low marital adjustment-low cohesion group” (20.2%), the “midlevel marital adjustment group” (35.3%), and the “high marital adjustment-satisfaction group” (44.4%). The influencing factors included age, marital status, primary caregiver, type of surgical intervention, empathy, and emotional regulation self-efficacy (P < 0.05).Conclusion: The marital adjustment levels of patients with breast cancer exhibited significant heterogeneity. Objective: The aim of this study is to employ an artificial neural network to predict the marital adjustment of women by investigating their attitudes toward infidelity, health literacy, and self-care concerning their diabetic spouses. Materials and Methods: The present study employed a descriptive-correlational research design. The study's statistical population comprised all couples residing in Ahvaz City, in which their male spouse was diagnosed with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes and who had been registered with the Diabetes Association of Khuzestan province until the end of December in the year 2022. Out of a total population of 2,200 individuals, a sample of 205 individuals was chosen using convenience sampling. In order to gather data, the researchers utilized several questionnaires, including the Marital Adjustment Questionnaire (MAQ), Attitude towards infidelity Scale, Health Literacy for Iranian Adults (HELIA), and The Diabetes Self-Care Activities Questionnaire (DSCAQ. The data analysis involved the application of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics to examine Pearson's correlation coefficient, regression, and the artificial neural network. Results: The results indicated a statistically significant negative association between men's attitude towards infidelity and women's marital adjustment as well as statistically significant positive associations between men's health literacy and women's marital adjustment, and between men's self-care and women's marital adjustment (P< 0.01). Conclusion: Health literacy plays a crucial role in enhancing the ability of men with diabetes to self-regulate and manage their condition through proper diet. It also increases their awareness of how diabetes can impact their marital life and sexual relationships.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of marital adjustment based on the main family’s health with the mediating role of emotion adjustment difficulty, conflict management, and sexual intimacy in teacher couples. This study was descriptive-correlational in terms of nature, and was applied in terms of objective. The statistical population of the study was all teacher couples of Kermanshah city in academic year 2020-2021, among whom 300 were selected Stepwise random sampling. The research data were collected through Dyadic Adjustment Scale (Spanier, 1976), Main Family’s Health Scale )Hovestadt et al., 1985), Emotion Adjustment Difficulty Scale (Gratz & Roemer, 2004), and Enrich Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire (Olson et al., 1986), and data analysis was performed using structural equation modeling method using SPSS-24 and AMOS-24 software. The findings s showed that direct effect of emotion adjustment difficulty and marital adjustment, conflict management and marital adjustment, and sexual intimacy with marital adjustment (p≤0.01). The results of indirect pathways showed that the main family health pathways have a positive effect on marital adjustment through difficulty of emotion regulation, conflict management and sexual intimacy (p≤0.05).

In order to gather data, the researchers utilized several questionnaires, including the Marital Adjustment Questionnaire (MAQ), Attitude towards infidelity Scale, Health Literacy for Iranian Adults (HELIA), and The Diabetes Self-Care Activities Questionnaire (DSCAQ. The data analysis involved the application of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics to examine Pearson's correlation coefficient, regression, and the artificial neural network. Background: Prenatal attachment refers to the affective investment that parents develop towards their unborn baby during pregnancy. Studies have identified depressive symptoms, affect dysregulation, and poor marital adjustment as potential risk factors for poor prenatal attachment. However, no research has concurrently examined these factors. This study aims to explore the simultaneous impact of depressive symptomatology, alexithymia, and couple functioning on prenatal attachment to develop a more comprehensive understanding of the factors shaping the emotional bond between expectant mothers and their fetuses. Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 344 women (mean age = 34.1, SD = 4.6) in their last trimester of pregnancy recruited from the National Health System. The participants completed the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, the Twenty-Item Toronto Alexithymia Scale, the Dyadic Adjustment Scale, and the Maternal Antenatal Attachment Scale. Results: Regression analyses indicated that perinatal depression and alexithymia negatively affected the Quality of Prenatal Attachment, while Dyadic Cohesion served as a protective factor. Conclusions: The results emphasize the need for early identification of perinatal depression and alexithymia, along with targeted interventions aimed at supporting Dyadic Cohesion during pregnancy. The present study aimed to find out differences of social support, perceived emotion invalidation, psychological needs, and use of adaptive and maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies in maritally adjusted and maladjusted after controlling for age, education, employment status, and depressive symptomatology. The cross‐sectional study uses a matched pairs design. The sample was divided into two groups; maritally adjusted and maladjusted women (n = 40 pairs) on basis of scores obtained on revised‐dyadic adjustment scale. Forty maritally adjusted women were matched with 40 maritally maladjusted women according to age, education, and employment status. Social support questionnaire, perceived invalidation of emotion scale, basic psychological need satisfaction frustration scale, cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire, and center for epidemiologic studies depression scale were administered. One‐way ANCOVA revealed that maritally maladjusted women had lower level of social support [mean difference; −5.65(−9.97, −1.33), p < 0.05, partial η2 = 0.08] and more emotional invalidation [mean difference; 15.36(13.08, 17.65), p < 0.001, partial η2 = 0.71] compared to maritally adjusted women after controlling for the effect of depressive symptomatology. Maritally maladjusted women had more need frustration [mean difference; 10.75(7.59, 13.92), p < 0.001, partial η2 = 0.38] compared to maritally adjusted women. However, maritally adjusted women had more need satisfaction [mean difference; 13.36(9.67, 17.05), p < 0.001, partial η2 = 0.41] compared to maritally maladjusted women. AbstractMarital adjustment is an important predictor of coping with stress among parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). A randomized controlled trial conducted on 60 parents of children with ASD showed that integrative SFT and double ABCX therapy, conducted over ten sessions of multiple family therapy in group counseling for five weeks and a one-month follow-up at special needs children’s centers in Jordan, resulted in a 48% increase in marital adjustment and a 34% reduction in parenting stress. AbstractPregnancy loss can have a profound impact on a woman’s psychological and emotional health often leading to a grieving process. Furthermore, the loss of a child is a risk factor for Prolonged Grief Disorder (PGD) according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition-Text Revision (DSM-5-TR). This cross-sectional study investigated the associations between mental health, marital adjustment, family support, gestational age, and prolonged grief. We recruited 93 women who had lost a pregnancy and had a living child born after the loss. Maternal mental health and gestational age at the time of loss were the variables most correlated with prolonged grief symptoms. A network model further confirmed the results and highlighted the importance of adopting a systemic and interactive approach to these and the other variables of interest related to pregnancy loss. Background: Only a few studies have systematically assessed sexual dysfunction and marital adjustment in married men with alcohol dependence in India. Aim: To assess the prevalence and pattern of sexual dysfunction and marital adjustment in a clinical sample of married men with alcohol dependence. The association of sexual dysfunction and marital adjustment with the severity of alcohol dependence was also explored. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study included 100 consecutive married men attending psychiatry outpatient department (OPD) with a diagnosis of alcohol dependence syndrome (ADS). A pre-designed study proformawas used for collecting relevant socio-demographic and clinical details of the study participants. Sexual dysfunction, marital adjustment, and alcohol dependence were assessed using the following validated tools: the Arizona Sexual Experiences Scale (ASEX), the Marital Adjustment Questionnaire (MAQ), and the Severity of Alcohol Dependence Questionnaire (SADQ), respectively. Results: Of 100 patients, about 15% had clinical sexual dysfunction based on ASEX. The most commonly reported sexual dysfunction was difficulty with erection (24.0%), followed by problems in desire (18.0%), sexual arousal (12.0%), ability to reach orgasm (12.0%), and satisfaction with orgasm (9.0%). Sexual dysfunction (ASEX score) showed significant positive correlation (rs = 0.345; P < 0.001) with alcohol dependence severity (SADQ score). Also, the severity of alcohol dependence was negatively correlated (rs = -0.240; P = 0.016) with the overall level of marital adjustment (MAQ score) with spouse. Conclusion: Sexual dysfunction is common in married men with ADS, with both sexual dysfunction intensity and marital adjustment difficulties being positively associated with the severity of alcohol dependence. Background: Marriage is a crucial aspect of human life, offering profound intimacy and companionship. Aim: This study aimed to investigate how resilience mediates the effects of perfectionism on marital adjustment. Subjects and Method: Design: A descriptive correlational design was used, adhering to STROBE guidelines. Setting: The study was conducted at the Faculties of Nursing at Damanhour University and Alexandria University, Egypt. Subjects: The sample included married nursing students, selected through convenience sampling. Tools: Data were collected using three tools: Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale ( -Item Version), Perfectionism Scale, and Marital Adjustment Scale. Results: Most participants reported high levels of resilience and marital adjustment, while perfectionism was moderate to high. Correlation analysis revealed negative correlation between resilience and perfectionism, strong positive correlation between resilience and marital adjustment, and negative correlation between perfectionism and marital adjustment. Path analysis confirmed that resilience partially mediated the negative effects of perfectionism on marital adjustment. Conclusion: The study reveals that resilience positively influences marital adjustment, while perfectionism negatively impacts it. This study investigates the mediating role of parental dyadic coping in the impact of parenting stress on marital adjustment, specifically focusing on fathers and mothers as distinct groups within Chinese families with children aged 0–6 years. A total of 632 parents who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria agreed to participate, but only 604 couples completed the questionnaire. Utilizing the Actor-Partner Interdependence Model (APIM) and the Actor-Partner Interdependence Mediation Model (APIMeM), our findings reveal that both fathers' and mothers' parenting stress significantly influences their own marital adjustment, with dyadic coping partially mediating this relationship. Conversely, in terms of partner effects, only mothers' parenting stress affects fathers' marital adjustment, which is mediated by dyadic coping between both parents. Moreover, within the APIMeM model, it was found that the variable "whether the mother worked or not" exhibited a statistically significant impact on maternal parenting stress. These findings imply that couples aiming to enhance their marital adjustment in a favorable direction should be attentive to both paternal and maternal parenting stress levels and encourage collaborative efforts in coping with stress-related consequences. Additionally, it is crucial to provide more employment opportunities and financial security for mothers in China as a means of alleviating their parenting stress and ultimately fostering positive marital adjustment. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of depression in expectant fathers, its association with marital adjustment and health-promoting behaviors, as well as the mediating role of depression in the association between marital adjustment and health behaviors in men. In the summer of 2022, 200 expectant fathers were selected. The participants completed the questionnaires included demographic information, dyadic adjustment, depression, and health-promoting behaviors. The results showed that depression had a high prevalence (25%) in expectant fathers. Objective: This study examined the associations between romantic attachment and relationship satisfaction as mediated by interp ersonal schemas (friendly × hostile) with Turkish couples. Background: Previous studies showed that adult romantic attachment is strongly associated with couple relationship functioning, and many efforts have been made to identify the mechanisms underlying this link. However, no study has considered interpersonal schemas when investigating the connection between romantic attachment and marital adjustment in couples. Method: In total, 230 Turkish married couples completed measures of interpersonal schemas, adult attachment, and marital adjustment. Results: Attachment anxiety is indirectly related to marital adjustment in couples via interpersonal schemas. However, attachment avoidance is both directly and indirectly related to marital adjustment via interpersonal schemas. Whereas friendly schemas are related to attachment anxiety negatively, hostile schemas are related to both attachment anxiety and avoidance positively. Objective: This study examined associations between marital adjustment and children's learning behaviors, as well as the potential mediation effects of maternal involvement and parenting on these associations in Chinese contexts. Background: The family is a vital setting for children's early learning behaviors, encompassing self‐efficacy in learning and approaches to learning. Marital adjustment, as well as maternal involvement and maternal parenting, are crucial factors in the family setting. However, there is a paucity of research on the pathway mechanism between these three family factors and children's early learning behaviors. Method: There were 750 mothers of Chinese preschoolers (48.24% girls, Mage = 5.94 years, SD = 1.43) in three provinces—Fujian, Sichuan, and Xinjiang—who participated in the study. Mothers completed questionnaires related to marital adjustment, maternal involvement, maternal parenting, and children's learning behaviors. Structural equation models were estimated to test the hypothesized paths. Results: The results revealed a positive association between higher marital adjustment and improved children's self‐efficacy in learning (β =.10, p =.004) and approaches to learning (β =.15, p <.001), with maternal involvement (for self‐efficacy, β =.25, p <.001; for approaches to learning, β =.23, p <.001) and parenting (for self‐efficacy, β =.25, p <.001; for approaches to learning, β =.31, p <.001) recognized as significant mediators in this relationship. Conclusions: The study indicated that marital adjustment, maternal involvement, and parenting have significant direct and indirect effects on children's early learning behaviors. Implications: Given the research findings, marital adjustment is worth considering when recognizing children's early learning. AimTo measure the relationships between dyadic coping, marital adjustment, and post-traumatic growth in patients with maintenance hemodialysis and their spouses.BackgroundPost-traumatic growth is common in patients facing maintenance hemodialysis. However, studies tend to focus on these patients as individuals rather than as part of a couple. Dyadic coping in a couple is important for their marital adjustment; however, little is known about how a couple's dyadic coping influences their marital adjustment and impacts their posttraumatic growth.DesignCross-sectional study.MethodsA questionnaire survey was conducted among patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis and their spouses. Patients were recruited between December 2021 and October 2022 using convenience sampling from the blood purification centers of two first-class tertiary hospitals. A total of 230 couples (460 individuals) of patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis and their spouses were enrolled. A general condition questionnaire, the dyadic coping scale, and the Locke-Wallace marital adjustment scale were used for assessments and data entry and analysis were performed using EpiData 3.1, SPSS 25.0, and Mplus 8.4.ResultsThe dyadic coping of patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis was positively correlated with both marital adjustment and posttraumatic growth, as was the dyadic coping of their spouses. The marital adjustment of both patients and their spouses was found to partially mediate the association between dyadic coping and posttraumatic growth.ConclusionSubject-mediated effects between the levels of dyadic coping, marital adjustment, and posttraumatic growth were established for both patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis and their spouses, and it was found that the marital adjustment in both showed varying degrees of mediation in the relationship between their dyadic coping and posttraumatic growth.ImpactThe findings of the study suggest that attention should be given to promoting dyadic coping behaviors in patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis and their spouses. It is recommended that nurses offer both education and support to couples to promote dyadic coping.

In this study, we examined self–other agreement in married couples to examine the association between their perceptions of self and other psychological problems and dyadic adjustment. We also postulated that dyadic adjustment would moderate self–other agreement ratings on low- and high-visibility traits of psychological problems. Using a cross-informant assessment design, 101 married dyads in three marital groups (non-clinical, transplant, and divorcing dyads) provided reciprocal self and other ratings for psychological problems. Self–other agreement indices were quantified using self–other differences scores and Pearson r, qualifying (Q) correlations. The self–other agreement models yielded significant differences in dyadic adjustment across couple types. Couples that demonstrated moderate to elevated levels of self–other agreement for psychological problems had higher levels of dyadic adjustment. Differences in self–other psychological problem ratings were robust predictors of dyadic maladjustment and poor relational quality. Dyadic adjustment was found to moderate self–other agreement for psychological problems, especially for wives’ appraisals and husbands’ attunement to wives’ low-visibility problems. The findings validate the impact of self–other agreement in models of relationship conflict and adjustment. Wive’s other views tended to have large effect sizes in dyadic adjustment. The study’s limitations and recommendations for future research are also discussed.

Furthermore, the husband's marital adjustment only positively affected his studied behaviors (β = 0.323, 95% Cl: 0.0303–0.895, P < 0.001) but did not affect the pregnant woman's health behaviors. The husband's depressive symptoms had a negative impact on his studied behaviors (β = 0.219, 95% Cl: -0.122 – -0.917, P = 0.001) and did not affect the pregnant woman's depressive symptoms. Our findings confirmed the mediating role of depressive symptoms in pregnant women and their husbands on the association of marital adjustment and health-promoting behaviors. According to the actor-partner study, a pregnant woman's marital adjustment scores positively affected her studied behaviors and her husband (β = 0.071, 95% Cl: 0.042–0.278, P = 0.015) by decreasing her depression score. Therefore, the husband's marital adjustment score positively affected his studied behaviors by decreasing his depression score (β = 0.084, 95% Cl: -0.053 -0.292, P = 0.005), and it did not affect his wife's health-promoting behaviors. Discussion and conclusion: These findings suggest healthcare providers, obstetricians, and psychologists evaluate the husbands' symptoms of depression and health-promoting behaviors in the routine pregnancy care of pregnant women. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of web-based marriage preparation education provided to engaged couples before marriage on their knowledge of sexual and reproductive health, marital adjustment, sexual satisfaction, and sexual self-efficacy. The randomized controlled experimental study took place between September 2021 and November 2022 at a municipal marriage registry office in Ankara. The study enrolled 60 engaged couples embarking on their first marriage (30 couples assigned to the intervention group and 30 to the control group). The intervention group received web-based marriage preparation education, while the control group received standardized follow-up. Data collection involved the use of the "Data Collection Form," the "Sexual and Reproductive Health Knowledge Test for Premarital Couples (SRH)," the "Marital Adjustment Scale (MAS)," the "New Sexual Satisfaction Scale (NSSS)," and the "Sexual Self-Efficacy Scale (SSES)." Data analysis employed descriptive statistics (percentage, frequency, mean, and standard deviation), split-plot ANOVA for pre-test and post-test comparisons, two-way ANOVA for intergroup scale score comparisons, and the Pearson correlation test for correlational analysis. The post-test knowledge scores on sexual and reproductive health for the group that received marriage preparation education were found to be significantly higher (p < 0.01). Additionally, the intervention group exhibited significantly higher scores on the MAS, NSSS, and SSES than the non-education group (p < 0.05). The study concludes that pre-marriage education played a crucial role in enhancing couples' understanding of sexual and reproductive health, marital adjustment, sexual satisfaction, and sexual self-efficacy. Research has revealed a rise in family relationship problems during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially among couples with young children. However, longitudinal studies spanning the prepandemic and pandemic periods are rare. In this study, we examined changes in couple functioning during these periods. Moreover, we investigated the mediation and moderation effects of couple functioning on the association between COVID-19 stressors and harsh parenting. A total of 545 mothers (mean age 38 years, range 23–48 years) completed questionnaires on couple functioning during the prepandemic (2016–2020) and early pandemic (May–June 2020) periods. During the early pandemic, they also reported exposure to COVID-19 stressors and engaging in harsh parenting (e.g., conflicts and maltreatment). We found no overall deterioration in couple functioning during the early pandemic. Furthermore, COVID-19 stressors did not explain variance in couple functioning changes or correlate with harsh parenting. However, as hypothesized, couple functioning moderated the effect of COVID-19 stressors on harsh parenting. Only for couples with low prepandemic functioning was exposure to COVID-19 stressors associated with harsh parenting. In conclusion, our findings provided no evidence of COVID-19's detrimental effects on couples during the early pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic has been stressful for individuals worldwide, including parents. Most research investigating stress during the pandemic has focused on single stressors in relation to outcomes and has been conducted in Western countries. Among parents from Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) countries, the present study used latent class analysis to identify specific subgroups of individuals based on combinations of stressful events experienced during the first two waves of the COVID-19 global pandemic. Whether individuals in these classes differed on levels of both adaptive (individual resilience, family cohesion) and maladaptive outcomes (depressive symptoms) was tested. Finally, perceived marital satisfaction was tested as a moderator of relations between class membership and adjustment outcomes. Participants were 545 parents (66.8% women, Mage = 35.79 years) recruited online who indicated presence or absence of experiencing 21 stressors across domains such as a family member contracting COVID, increased caregiving burden, work-related stress, and child adjustment problems. Three latent classes were identified, with one group characterized by work and child adjustment stress, one by child adjustment stress only, and one by low levels of stress across domains. The two higher stress groups reported increased depression. No associations with positive outcomes were found. Martial quality was most important for impacting greater resilience for those individuals experiencing child adjustment stress. Diabetes affects different aspects of life, e.g., work, quality of life, social-individual and psychological performance, and, most importantly, sexual performance, which may disrupt marital adjustment. The present study aimed to investigate the relationship of marital adjustment of wives with emotional intelligence, health literacy, and perceived stress of diabetic husbands through the mediation role of sexual satisfaction. The path analysis technique was adopted to evaluate the proposed model in this descriptive-correlational study. The statistical population included 2116 married couples with diabetic husbands in Ahvaz, (Iran) in 2022. The convenience sampling method was employed to select 305 couples. The research instruments included the Dyadic Adjustment Scale, Emotional Intelligence Scale, Health Literacy for Iranian Adults, Perceived Stress Scale, and Index of Sexual Satisfaction Scale. The data were analyzed using the statistical correlation method and structural equation modeling. According to the results, there was a significant relationship between husbands' emotional intelligence and wives' marital adjustment and sexual satisfaction (p < 0.01). There was a positive and significant relationship between husbands' health literacy with wives' marital adjustment and marital adjustment (p < 0.01). There was a negative and significant relationship between husbands' perceived stress with wives' marital adjustment and sexual satisfaction (p < 0.01). The relationship between sexual satisfaction and marital adjustment in the women was positive and significant (p < 0.01). The results showed that there was no significant relationship between husbands' health literacy and wives' marital adjustment. There were also significant indirect paths from the emotional intelligence, health literacy, and perceived stress of husbands to the marital adjustment of wives mediated by the sexual satisfaction of wives (p < 0.01). This study explores the subjective experiences of remarriage among five divorced Malay Muslim women with children from their first marriages, who have since remarried. Using semi-structured interviews, their remarriage journeys were analyzed through Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis. Four main themes – internal process, adjusting to a new marriage, relationships with others, and marital satisfaction – along with ten sub-themes were identified. These themes encompass emotional struggles post-divorce, acceptance of reality and fate, mixed feelings pre-remarriage, decision-making in remarriage, dynamics within couple roles and interactions, and relationships with children, in-laws, extended family, and ex-spouses, culminating in the joy and gratitude experienced in their current marriages. This study was informed by Carter & McGoldrick's Remarried Family Formation Framework and Bronfenbrenner's Bioecological Model of Human Development, which together provided a robust theoretical lens for understanding the complexities of remarriage in a culturally rich setting. Specific risk factors can negatively impact marital adjustment (MA) in remarriage and contribute to higher dissolution rates. However, more than understanding the differences between first marriages and remarriages, it is crucial to understand why some remarriages are more adjusted than others. Our objective was to systematically review quantitative studies examining positive and negative factors influencing MA among heterosexual remarried individuals. Following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, we included English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese peer-reviewed papers utilizing MA assessment instruments. Out of 372 studies, 33 met our criteria and were included. This review unveiled MA factors associated with sociodemographic, individual, stepfamily, and relational variables. Results indicated that there are more positive factors associated with MA than negative. Future reviews should embrace diverse research methodologies and account for the growing prevalence of cohabiting stepcouples, aiming to develop an overarching theory on MA within stepfamily dynamics. Abstract Background Breast cancer and genital cancer are known as cancers that affect people’s relationships with their partners. Women with such cancers are emotionally vulnerable and need more support from their partners. The present systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the effectiveness of couple-based interventions on the marital outcomes of patients with these cancers and their intimate partners. Methods To perform this systematic review, Google Scholar and databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane, Scopus, SID (Scientific Information Database), and Magiran were searched systematically. The reviewed studies included randomized controlled trials and quasiexperimental studies in which the intervention group, couple-based interventions, and the control group received routine care, general education or no intervention for cancer treatment. In this study, the included participants were patients with breast cancer or genital cancer and their intimate partners. The primary outcomes considered in this study included patients’ marital adjustment, patients’ marital satisfaction, patients’ marital intimacy, and patients’ marital relationships. The secondary outcomes were partners’ marital adjustment, partners’ marital satisfaction, partners’ marital intimacy, and partners’ marital relationships. A meta-analysis was performed with Review Manager v. 5.3 software (The Nordic Cochrane Centre, Cochrane Collaboration, 2014; Copenhagen, Denmark). The intervention impacts on continuous outcomes were measured using standardized mean differences (SMDs) with 95% confidence interval because of the use of various scales to evaluate the outcomes. The quality of evidence presented in the included studies was evaluated using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) approach. In the subgroup analysis, the studied outcomes were divided into two parts (theory-based and non-theory-based) in terms of the theoretical context of couple-based interventions. Results From a total of 138 retrieved studies, 14 trials were eligible for inclusion in the study. The results of the meta-analysis showed that the patient’s marital satisfaction increased significantly with couple-based interventions (SMD 0.46, 95% confidence interval 0.07 to 0.85; 7 trials, 341 patients, very low certainty) compared to the control group, but the evidence was uncertain. However, there were no significant differences between the groups in the partner’s marital satisfaction, the patient’s and partner’s marital adjustment, and the patient’s and partner’s marital intimacy. Additionally, the results of the subgroup analysis showed that the couple-based interventions significantly increased the patient’s marital adjustment (SMD 1.96, 95% CI 0.87 to 3.06; 4 trials, 355 patients, very low certainty), the partner’s marital adjustment (SMD 0.53, 95% CI 0.20 to 0.86; 4 trials, 347 partners, very low certainty), the patient’s marital satisfaction (SMD 0.89, 95% CI 0.35 to 1.43; 2 trials, 123 patients, very low certainty), and the partner’s marital satisfaction (SMD 0.57, 95% CI 0.20 to 0.94; 2 trials, 123 partners, very low certainty) compared to the control group in theory-based studies. In. However, in non-theory-based studies, the results of the meta-analysis revealed no significant differences between the intervention and control groups. Conclusions The results of this study demonstrated the impact of couple-based interventions on the marital outcomes of patients with breast and genital cancers. Because of the very low confidence in the evidence, high-quality randomized trials with a sufficient sample size should be conducted considering the proper theoretical context.

The purpose of this research was to standardize an Islamic happiness training program and assess its effectiveness in promoting marital adjustment and resilience among couples experiencing marital conflict. The qualitative portion of the study employed theme analysis via the inductive method, while the quantitative portion utilized a quasi-experimental design comprising a control group, pretest, posttest, and two-month follow-up period . In the spring and summer of 2020, couples experiencing marital conflict who were referred to counseling centers in the East District of Tehran constituted the statistical population of the current study. By employing a multistage sampling method, 26 couples were chosen and allocated at random into the experimental and control groups (with 28 individuals in the experimental group and 24 in the control group). The experimental group was provided with an eight-session Islamic contentment training program over the course of two months. In this study, the employed questionnaires were the marital conflict questionnaire (MCQ), the marital status questionnaire (MSQ), and the resilience questionnaire (RQ). Background: Light triad traits play a significant role in predicting one’s mental well-being and can greatly influence interpersonal relationships and overall happiness. This study aimed to assess the correlation between marital adjustment, marital satisfaction and quality of life in alignment with light triad traits.Methods: Structural equation modeling was used for data analysis. The study population included women living in Bastak, Iran in 2023. A total of 270 participants were selected through convenience sampling method, and completed Light Triad Scale, Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS), ENRICH Marital Satisfaction Scale (EMSS), and WHO Quality of Life-BREF questionnaires. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between marital adjustment, spiritual well-being, and locus of control in married couples. A total of 526 married individuals living in İzmir, Turkey, 283 (53.8%) women and 243 (46.2%) men between the ages of 18 and 65, participated in the research. The married individuals were evaluated individually rather than as couples. The of control scale (LCS) developed by Dağ, the marital adjustment test (MAT) developed by Locke and Wallace and adapted into Turkish by Tutarel Kışlak, the spiritual well-being scale (SWBS) developed by Ekşi and Kardaş, and a socio-demographic information form were applied to the participants. SPSS 22.0 was used for statistical analysis of the data obtained in the study. The findings were evaluated at a 5% significance level within a 95% confidence interval (p < 0.05). The findings of the study revealed that the marital adjustment of male participants was higher than that of females, and that as spiritual well-being increased, marital adjustment also increased. A positive relationship was found between transcendence, one of the sub-dimensions of spiritual well-being, and marital adjustment and internal locus of control. Similarly, a positive correlation was identified between harmony with nature and marital adjustment and internal locus of control, while a negative relationship was found between anomie and marital adjustment and internal locus of control. Moreover, negative and significant relationships were found between marital adjustment and external locus of control determinants such as belief in luck, meaninglessness of making an effort, belief in an unjust world, and anomie, one of the sub-dimensions of spiritual well-being. Additionally, a positive relationship was found between higher education and internal locus of control, and a positive relationship between marriages conducted between the ages of 17 and 20 and an external locus of control.

Mental health is a state of well-being whereby every individual not only copes with the normal stresses of life but also works productively and fruitfully. A key factor in mental health is marital adjustment, which is an overall feeling of happiness and satisfaction in spouses with the marriage and each other. In a good marriage, the husband and wife agree on the chief concerns of marriage. Among these basic issues is the spirituality of both partners. Spirituality implies a meaningful existence and includes a sense of connection to something bigger than oneself. In recent years there has been an escalating interest in the role of spirituality in mental health. The main purpose of this empirical research was to test whether spirituality influences the relationship between marital adjustment and mental health. Three separate questionnaires were used to assess the three variables under study, viz., mental health, marital adjustment, and spirituality. The results showed positive relationships among all the three variables. Path analyses revealed that marital adjustment directly influenced mental health and most of its dimensions. This study was conducted to develop a structural model for the relationship between sexual schemas, marital adjustment, sexual self-disclosure, and sexual anxiety in female sexual pain disorder by mediating social exchange styles. The statistical population included all women referred to sexual health clinics in Tehran. Using cluster sampling 220 eligible women were selected. The results of structural equation modeling showed a relatively good fit of the model. The results also showed that marital adjustment and sexual anxiety have a positive relationship and passionate-romantic gender schema and self-disclosure have a negative relationship with sexual pain disorder. The results indicate that the passionate-romantic and the embarrassed-conservation gender schema with the mediation of fairness style has an indirect effect on sexual pain disorder, while marital adjustment and sexual anxiety are directly involved in sexual pain disorder without the mediation of social exchange styles. The findings of the present study provide a useful framework for identifying the major components of sexual pain disorder which should be considered in prevention and treatment programs. Training and intervention based on the theory of social exchange, especially the fairness style, is proposed to sexual health practitioners for reducing the sexual problems of women with sexual pain disorder. Objective To explore the marital adjustment status of infertile couples and analyze inflvencing related factors for obtaining the basis of early intervention during diagnosis and treatment. Methods Total of 413 couples who met the criteria for infertility diagnosis were recruited from a tertiary-level hospital in Anhui Province. The Locke-Wollance Marriage Adjustment Questionnaire (MAT) was used to investigate the marital adjustment status of infertile couples. General data survey, Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS) and Psychological Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) were used to investigate the factors related to marital disorders in infertile couples. The risk factors of marital disorder were analyzed by binary logistic regression analysis. Results The proportion of marital disorder in females was 31.9%, which was higher than that in males (20.0%). The infertility caused by female (OR=2.331, 95% CI= 1.160～4.683), living with elders (OR=0.453, 95% CI= 0.284～0.722), poor psychological resilience, and (OR=1.024, 95% CI= 1.008～1.040) lack of social support (OR=1.084, 95% CI=1.041～1.129) were the risk factors for marital disorder in women. Increasing age (OR=0.652, 95% CI=0.432～0.984), poor psychological resilience (OR=1.047, 95% CI=1.025～1.070) and lack of social support (OR=1.070, 95% CI=1.023～1.118) were the risk factors for marital disorder in men. Conclusion The proportion of marital disorders in women is higher than that in men. The factors related to marital disorders are concentrated in individual, family and social aspects.
