Abstract Background Proteoglycans are important tumor microenvironment extracellular matrix components. The regulation of key proteoglycans, such as decorin (DCN), by miRNAs has drawn attention since they have surfaced as novel therapeutic targets in cancer. Accordingly, this study aimed at identifying the impact of miR-181a in liver cancer and its regulatory role on the extracellular matrix proteoglycan, DCN, and hence on downstream oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes. Results DCN was under-expressed in 22 cirrhotic and HCC liver tissues compared to that in 11 healthy tissues of liver transplantation donors. Conversely, miR-181a was over-expressed in HCC liver tissues compared to that in healthy liver tissues. In silico analysis predicted that DCN 3’UTR harbors two high-score oncomiR-181a binding regions. This was validated by pmiRGLO luciferase reporter assay. Ectopic miR-181a expression into HuH-7 cells repressed the transcript and protein levels of DCN as assessed fluorometrically and by western blotting. DCN siRNAs showed similar results to miR-181a, where they both enhanced the cellular viability, proliferation, and clonogenicity. They also increased Myc and E2F and decreased p53 and Rb signaling as assessed using reporter vectors harboring p53, Rb, Myc, and E2F response elements. Our findings demonstrated that miR-181a directly downregulated the expression of its direct downstream target DCN, which in turn affected downstream targets related to cellular proliferation and apoptosis. Conclusion To our knowledge, this is the first study to unveil the direct targeting of DCN by oncomiR-181a. We also highlighted that miR-181a affects targets related to cellular proliferation in HCC which may be partly mediated through inhibition of DCN transcription. Thus, miR-181a could be a promising biomarker for the early detection and monitoring of liver cancer progression. This would pave the way for the future targeting of the oncomiR-181a as a therapeutic approach in liver cancer, where miR-181a-based therapy approach could be potentially combined with chemotherapy and immunotherapy for the management of liver cancer.

This study explores the behavior of laser-exposed photo-excited carriers, investigating the propagation of photoacoustic waves in the thermoelastic domain. It also delves into the theoretical generation of surface acoustic waves in semiconductors through photo-thermoelastic processes. The research considers the interaction between thermomechanical and acoustic waves in a nonlocal medium with temperature-dependent thermal conductivity. Unlike relying on electron–phonon or electron-hole thermalization processes, photoacoustic waves here result from thermoelastic stress induced by the laser-induced temperature increase. The investigation accounts for the optical, mechanical, and thermoelastic properties of nanoscale semiconductor materials. Predictions of photoacoustic signals are derived by solving a combined thermal diffusion issue and a thermoelastic problem, using Laplace and Fourier transforms in the mathematical model. Numerical solutions encompass various physical fields within the time domain using the inversion technique of Laplace and Fourier transforms, such as thermal, acoustic, mechanical, and carrier density diffusion. The study evaluates and compares the influences of thermal memory and thermal conductivity presenting visual representations.

This paper presents an alternative breast cancer classification method based on enhancing the efficiency of the Nutcracker optimizer (NO) algorithm using Chaos Game Optimization (CGO). In addition, we use the Cross Vision Transformer to extract features from breast images. After that, the relevant features are allocated using the modified version of NO based on CGO. This modification aims to enhance the exploration ability of the NO algorithm to discover the region of a feasible solution (an optimal subset of features). The performance of the developed model is validated by using twelve functions from the CEC2022 benchmark and comparing the results with traditional CGO and NO algorithms. In addition, to assess the applicability of the developed technique, a set of three datasets, and the results were compared with other techniques. The results illustrate the high ability of the developed method to enhance the detection of breast cancer and find the optimal solution of CEC2022 functions according to different performance measures.

In this study, we investigated the effect of a rotation field and magnetic field on a homogeneous photo-thermoelastic nonlocal material and how its thermal conductivity changes as a result of a linearly distributed thermal load. The thermal conductivity of an interior particle is supposed to increase linearly with temperature under the impact of laser pulses. Microelastic (microelements distribution), non-local semiconductors are used to model the problem under optoelectronic procedures, as proposed by the thermoelasticity theory. According to the microelement transport processes, the micropolar-photo-thermoelasticity theory accounts for the medium’s microelongation properties. This mathematical model is solved in two dimensions using the harmonic wave analysis. Non-local semiconductor surfaces can generate completely dimensionless displacement, temperature, microelongation, carrier density, and stress components with the appropriate boundary conditions. The effects of thermal conductivity, thermal relaxation times, magnetic pressure effect, laser pulses, and rotation parameters on wave propagation in silicon (Si) material are investigated and graphically displayed for a range of values.

Green hydrogen is a clean and renewable energy source that has the potential to play a major role in decarbonizing the global economy. Green hydrogen has become a promising decarbonization strategy for several industries, including transportation and manufacturing. The widespread use of green hydrogen technology still confronts several obstacles, such as high costs, a lack of infrastructure, and regulatory restrictions. The paper commences by examining the potential of green hydrogen production in MENA countries with a specific emphasis on Egypt as best practice example. It proceeds to identify the key drivers that will shape future scenarios of green hydrogen and outlines the best and worst-case scenarios for green hydrogen in MENA region by 2050. Through scenario analysis, the paper presents potential pathways for green hydrogen deployment in Egypt and the wider MENA countries, highlighting key drivers and potential barriers. According to the findings, Egypt emerges as pivotal player in driving the deployment of green hydrogen within the MENA region. The MENA region, rich in solar and wind resources and strategically located, emerges as a potent hub for green hydrogen production. Egypt, in particular, is at the forefront of this initiative, aiming to become a key exporter in the global hydrogen economy by leveraging its renewable resources, strategic projects, and conducive investment environment. The study employs a multifaceted methodology, integrating PEST analysis and identifying key drivers like renewable targets and technological advancements to assess green hydrogen’s potential in the MENA region, focusing on Egypt. It constructs best- and worst-case scenarios by 2050, utilizing these drivers to evaluate the implications of various influencing factors. In the best-case scenario, by 2050, Egypt aspires to be a pivotal player in the global green hydrogen economy, aiming for up to 8% market share. Through strategic investments, policy enhancements, and global partnerships, Egypt plans to become a major exporter, particularly to the European Union, aligning with global decarbonization goals. Comprehensive strategies are expected to drive economic prosperity, potentially increasing Egypt's GDP by $10-18 billion by 2025. Collaborations with global entities have fostered a robust infrastructure, enabling an integrated ecosystem for green hydrogen innovation and production.

This work introduces a new mathematical model for viscothermoelastic semiconducting solid spheres of ceramic materials considering the photothermal interaction using three types of the Green–Naghdi heat conduction model. The outer surface of a solid sphere is loaded thermally using ramp-type heat as a boundary condition. Following that, Laplace transforms and their inversion forms have been applied. The figures show that the mechanical relaxation time and ramp-time heat parameters have significant effects on the increase in carrier density and temperature, in addition to strain, displacement, the average of principal stresses, and the strain-energy density. The energy produced by viscothermoelastic semiconducting materials based on photothermal interaction may be controlled by the ramp-time heat parameter. The novelty of this work is to test the three types of the Green–Naghdi heat conduction model and apply the model to zirconia, a ceramic material.

This article aims to provide theoretical predictions for the thermal reactions of human tissues during tumor thermotherapy when exposed to laser irradiation and an external heat source. For the construction of a theoretical study of bioheat transfer, the selection of a suitable thermal model capable of accurately predicting the required thermal responses is essential. The effect of heat production by heat treatment on a spherical multilayer tumor tissue is evaluated using this approach. Analytical solution for the non-homogenous differential equations is derived in the Laplace domain. The study examines the impact of thermal relaxation time on tissue temperature and the subsequent thermal damage. The numerical findings of thermal damage and temperatures are depicted in a graphical representation. This model explains laser treatment, physical events, metabolic support, and blood perfusion. The numerical outcomes of the recommended model are validated by comparing them to the literatures.

Growth and expansion in construction has increased recently and especially in coastal areas. In Alexandria, Egypt, mega projects such as El-Max Port Project (Middle Port), Port of ABU QIR (EG AKI), hotels, and restaurants were spread along the coastal lines, thus, it will need a high electrical energy. Although, the great economic benefits of such projects, it will have some negative impacts, such as overloading on the present grid. According to recommendations of COP 27, Egypt is one of the countries targeting to increase the dependency on green energy to minimize the production of greenhouse gases. This study is interested in wave energy as a renewable source of energy. Using a machine learning model that predicts wave height and wave period through the year 2030 in three separate places (Alamein, Alexandria, and Mersa-Matruh), this study will try to estimate the future amount of wave energy along Egypt's coast. Hourly measurements of the significant height and the mean wave period for the period 1979–2023 have been utilized for this. An extractor for wave energy can also be built on the Overtopping Breakwater for Energy Conversion (OBREC) in order to use this energy to fill the hole in the electric grid. The machine learning model was developed using hourly wave height and period data from three buoys, and as a result, the results have a root mean square error (RMSE) of 0.52. The amount of energy taken, wave power, and system efficiency at each place were then fully determined using a mathematical model for each of the three locations. The area along the coast of Alamein had the highest energy extraction rates, followed by Alexandria and Mersa-Matruh in that order. The results of the mathematical model indicate that the yearly power generation for Alamein, Alexandria, and Mersa-Matruh is 25287 MWhr, 14713 MWhr, and 4865 MWhr, respectively.

This paper provides an overview of the circular economy in Egypt. With the country facing significant environmental challenges, a circular economy approach can offer sustainable solutions to Egypt's environmental challenges by addressing issues like limited resources, waste generation, and a growing population in an eco-friendly and long-term perspective. This research employs a mixed-methods approach, including a literature review, surveys, and consultations with key stakeholders. The analysis reveals that although there are numerous challenges to establishing a circular economy in Egypt, such as limited understanding, insufficient government backing, and inadequate infrastructure, there are also opportunities, such as increasing demand for eco-friendly goods and services, as well as a receptive business environment. The paper recommends various policy and practical interventions to overcome these barriers and capitalize on these opportunities, including increasing awareness and understanding of the circular economy, developing supportive programs and regulations, investing in infrastructure and technology, and fostering stakeholder collaboration. This paper provides valuable insights into the potential for a circular economy in Egypt and the steps that can be taken to create a more sustainable future for the country. As such, it will interest policymakers, researchers, and practitioners working in the sustainability and environmental management field. The successful implementation of a circular economy in Egypt will require collective efforts from stakeholders to promote long-term sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Abstract The inhibitory effect of di-imine-SB namely ((N 1 Z, N 4 E)-N 1 , N 4 -bis (4 (dimethylamino) benzylidene) butane 1,4-diamine) on X65-steel in 1 M HCl has been investigated experimentally and theoretically. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization (PDP), and weight loss outcomes display the anticorrosion properties of “di-imine- SB”. The inhibitory efficiency exceeds 90% at the optimal concentration of 1 × 10–3 M “di-imine- SB”. The metal surface was examined further using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX). The effectiveness of the di-imine-SB is returned into its adsorption on X65-steel surface and found in agreement with Langmuir adsorption isotherm. According to the standard Gibbs free energy of adsorption $$({\Delta G}_{ads}^{^\circ })$$ ( Δ G ads ∘ ) , di-imine-SB adsorption tends to be chemical rather than physical, it increases the activation energy ( $${\mathrm{E}}_{a}$$ E a ) of metal dissolution reaction and makes it hard to occur. The PDP data suggested anodic and cathodic type of the di-imine-SB inhibitor. Meanwhile, increasing the resistance of X65-steel to 301 Ω cm2 after adding 1 mM of di-imine-SB confirms its protective effect. Whereas, the positive value of the fraction of electron transference (ΔN, 0.746), confirms the affinity of di-imine-SB to share electrons to the partially filed 3d-orbital of Fe forming strong protective film over X65-steel surface. Aided by Monte Carlo (MC) simulation, the calculated adsorption energy (Eads) suggests excessive adsorption affinity of di-imine-SB on metal surface over the corrosive chlorides and hydronium ions. A good correlation between the theoretical hypothesis and the experimental inhibition efficiency has been achieved. The comparative study showed the superior of the di-imine-SB as potential corrosion inhibitor compared with those reported before. Finally, global reactivity descriptors; electron affinity (A), ionization potential (I), electronegativity (χ), dipole moment (µ), global hardness ( $$\eta$$ η ), electrophilicity index and, Fukui indices were also calculated and found well correlated to the reactivity of di-imine-SB.

This work aims to study the influence of fractional derivatives and thermal relaxation time on two-dimensional biological tissues using an eigenvalue-based approach. Understanding the heat transfer mechanism and its thermomechanical interactions with the skin tissue of patients is crucial for the successful implementation of thermal treatment procedure. The study employs Laplace and Fourier transforms, and the resulting formulations are applied to human tissues undergoing regional hyperthermia treatment for tumor therapy. The numerical inversion process for Laplace and Fourier transformations utilizes the Stehfest numerical inverse method. The results demonstrate that thermal relaxation time and fractional order parameter significantly influence all analyzed distributions. The numerical findings suggest that thermo-mechanical waves propagate through the skin tissue over finite distances, which helps mitigate the unrealistic predictions made by the Pennes' model.

This paper presents a methodology for determining the optimal parameters of a photocatalysis process for treating pharmaceutical wastewater. Three parameters are considered: pH value, catalyst dosages, and reaction time to boost the amoxicillin degradation efficiency (ADE). The proposed methodology contains two stages: fuzzy modelling and a parameter determination process using the marine predators algorithm (MPA). Firstly, based on the experimental dataset of ADE in terms of pH value, catalyst dosages, and reaction time, a robust fuzzy model is produced to model the photocatalysis/ozonation process. The target is reducing the root mean square error (RMSE) between the actual data and the experimental dataset. Using fuzzy, the RMSE decreased from 2.0248 using ANOVA to 0.3148 using fuzzy (decreased by 84%). Next, using the MPA, the optimal parameters of pH value, catalyst dosages, and reaction time corresponding to maximum ADE are determined. The suggested strategy boosted the ADE from 88.23% to a rate of 11.68% compared with the experimental and RSM approaches. Under this condition, the optimal solutions are 11, 384 mg/L, and 33.615 min, respectively, for pH, catalyst dosages, and reaction time.

The theory of photo-thermoelasticity describes how heating or elastic microstructure mechanical deformation can modify a material’s optical-thermal properties. This theory particularly highlights the effect of microtemperature on elasticity and efficient heat transport. This work provides a new theoretical framework for thermooptical elastic materials and clarifies the relationship between thermomechanical and plasma waves in microtemperature-affected semiconductors such as silicon. The model focuses on studying the elasto-thermodiffusion (ETD) theory’s electron-hole interaction. Microtemperature effects during photothermal (PT) stimulation are studied in this theory. In one-dimensional (1D) settings, the Laplace transform is utilized which can be solved using the governing equations for thermoelastic (TD) processes and electronic (ED) deformation processes in a nondimensional form. The proposed model is put to use in analyzing how ramp-type heating affects an unbounded semiconductor material plane at rest. The discussion section presents a series of graphs to analyze the effect of the main parameters.

This paper presents the results of an investigation that focuses on the stochastic wave propagation that occurs within an elastic medium when the thermoelectric properties are taken into consideration. It has been found that there is a clear association between the characteristics of electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity. As a result, the current topic focuses on the influence a magnetic field has on the variable thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity that exists within a material. This is done within the context of dual phase lag thermoelasticity. Several parameters are incorporated into the governing equations, which exhibit coupling. Thermal shock has been applied to the boundary of the medium that represents the non-traction barrier. At the border of the problem, stochasticity is imposed in order to make the problem appear more realistic. Within the boundary conditions, it is presumed that the white-noise function is present. Utilizing the Laplace transform method is the approach that is taken to address the issue. It is possible to determine the inverse transformations using numerical approximation approaches. Both graphical and visual analyses are performed on the dataset. In conclusion, graphical representations are utilized in order to make comparisons between the deterministic and stochastic solutions of all physical fields.

This study examines a new model for a solid semiconductor porosity medium with variable thermal conductivity under photo-thermoelastic conditions using two-temperature theory. A normal mode analysis is carried out to solve the equations in two dimensions analytically while taking into account the linear relationship between thermal conductivity and temperature. Physical fields, such as carrier density distribution, temperature, stress, and displacement, are then determined. The interaction between plasma and elastic waves is also considered. The simulation is conducted using silicon material, and the numerical calculations are illustrated graphically. This study investigates the effects of different porosity parameters (with and without porosity), thermal variable conductivity, and the two-temperature parameter on the physical field values.

The Thomson influence on semiconductors can be studied by investigating the connection between the presence of thermoelectric and magnetic fields and porosity and the photothermal transport mechanism. Elastic waves, voids, magnetic fields, and thermoelectric effects in plasma are investigated. The governing equations were analyzed for a uniformly distributed and isotropic medium under two-dimensional [electronic and elastic (plasmaelastic)] deformations. The charge density is considered solely dependent on the induced electric current over time. The Laplace-Fourier transforms method in two dimensions is employed to obtain solutions for the primary variables. The recombination process results in the application of electro-mechanical loads and thermal effects on the free surface of a porous medium. The Laplace-Fourier transformations inversion operations help obtain comprehensive solutions in this study. The effects of porosity parameters and silicon (Si) on a semiconductor porous material are considered, and the resulting physical field distributions are analyzed and represented graphically.

Background: Diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is considered the most common type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The global incidence of DLBCL has been doubled in the past decades, highlighting the need for more effective treatment regimens. The curability of DLBCL is heavily influenced by a number of factors, such as the age, the international prognostic index (IPI) score, the molecular cell of origin (COO) subtype, and presence/ absence of specific chromosomal rearrangements or protein expression. Recent gene profiling studies have classified DLBCL into two main categories, germinal center B-cell type (GCB) and activated B-cell type (ABC). Validation of these subtypes has become more applicable after the immunohistochemical algorithm suggested by Hans, which included three commercially available markers, CD10, BCL6, and MUM-1/IRF4. In addition to this classification, DLBCL prognostic models based on different sets of genes or immunohistochemical markers have been proposed. More recently, DLBCLs with translocations of MYC, along with a B-cell lymphoma 2 (BCL2) and/or B-cell lymphoma 6 (BCL6) rearrangement, are now called double-hit lymphoma (DHL) or triple-hit lymphoma (THL), respectively. Furthermore, the co-expre sion of MYC and BCL2 proteins without underlying rearrangements is considered a new adverse prognostic indicator termed double-expressor lymphoma (DEL). The present study is aiming to combine morphological, immunophenotypical, and genetic features of DLBCLs to reach a more reproducible subtyping. Aim: To identify the relation between clinicopathological features as patient age, sex, site of tumor, clinical presentation and tumor stage and the germinal center differentiation in DLBCL (germinal center B-cell (GCB) or activated B-cell (ABC)) and the double/triple genetic hits status. Material and Methods: The material of this study comprised 52 formalin-fixed paraffin- embedded blocks representative of diffuse large B cell lymphoma cases retrieved from the archival material available at the Pathology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University. Subclassification of cases into (germinal center / and post-germinal center types) using a panel of immunohistochemical markers including CD10, BCL6 and MUM1 was done and scoring of double/triple hit expression using a panel of immunohistochemical markers including c-MYC, BCL6 and BCL2 was also done and correlation with their subtypes and clinical data was performed. Results: there was significant association between germinal center differentiation and tumor stage (MCp= 0.018). Conclusion: Germinal center differentiation status is a valid method to evaluate the prognosis of DLBCL.

Abstract Outlined here is an innovative method for characterizing a layer of microelongated semiconductor material under excitation. Fractional time derivatives of a heat equation with a rotational field are used to probe the model during photo-excitation processes. Micropolar-thermoelasticity theory, which the model implements, introduces the microelongation scalar function to characterize the processes occurring inside the microelements. When the microelongation parameters are considered following the photo-thermoelasticity theory, the model investigates the interaction scenario between optical-thermo-mechanical waves under the impact of rotation parameters. During electronic and thermoelastic deformation, the key governing equations have been reduced to dimensionless form. Laplace and Fourier's transformations are used to solve this mathematical problem. Isotropic, homogeneous, and linear microelongated semiconductor medium's general solutions to their respective fundamental fields are derived in two dimensions (2D). To get complete solutions, several measurements must be taken at the free surface of the medium. As an example of numerical modeling of the important fields, we will use the silicon (Si) material’s physicomechanical characteristics. Several comparisons were made using different values of relaxation time and rotation parameters, and the results were graphically shown.

Modern homes are experiencing unprecedented levels of convenience because of the proliferation of smart devices. In order to improve communication between smart home devices, this paper presents a novel approach that particularly addresses interference caused by different transmission systems. The core of the suggested framework is an intelligent Internet of Things (IoT) system designed to reduce interference. By using adaptive communication protocols and sophisticated interference management algorithms, the framework minimizes interference caused by overlapping transmissions and guarantees effective data sharing. This can be accomplished by creating an optimization model that takes into account the dynamic nature of the smart home environment and intelligently allocates resources. By maximizing the signal quality at the destination and optimizing the distribution of frequency channels and transmission power levels, the model seeks to minimize interference. A deep learning technique is used to augment the optimization model by adaptively learning and predicting interference patterns from real-time observations and historical data. The experimental results show how effective the suggested hybrid strategy is. While the deep learning model adjusts to shifting interference dynamics, the optimization model efficiently controls resource allocation, leading to better data reception performance at the destination. The system’s robustness is assessed in various kinds of situations to demonstrate its flexibility in responding to changing smart home settings. This work not only offers a thorough framework for interference reduction but also clarifies how deep learning and mathematical optimization can work together to improve the dependability of data reception in smart homes.

This paper presents a theoretical investigation of linear thermal conductivity temperature-dependent coupled elasto-thermoelectronic diffusion (ETD) waves in a micro-temperature semiconductor, specifically focusing on the effects of photo-excited processes. The governing equations are formulated for a semi-infinite silicon wafer, which serves as a semiconductor material. The explicit study of the strong coupling between the equations governing elastic wave transport, carrier (plasma) transport, and thermal wave transport is conducted in the presence of microtemperature influence. The electron–hole interaction is obtained within the framework of the ETD theory. Laplace transform is used to resolve the governing equations in a non-dimensional framework for thermoelastic and electronic deformation in one-dimensional (1D) scenarios. The present study employs the proposed model to analyze the impact of ramp-type heating on a stationary plane of unbounded semiconductor material. Thermoelastic electronic coupling is found to be affected by the presence of variable thermal conductivity and microtemperature parameters.

This research paper presents the generalized micropolar thermo-visco-elasticity model in an isotropic elastic medium that has two temperatures with conformable fractional order theory. The whole elastic medium rotates at a constant angular velocity. The generalized theory of thermoelasticity with one relaxation time is used to describe this model. We aim to study the effect of conformable fractional derivative, effect of rotation, and the two-temperature coefficients. The normal mode analysis is used to acquire the specific articulations for each component under consideration. Moreover, some specific cases are discussed with regarding to the problem. Numerical findings are gathered and displayed graphically for the variables under consideration. The outcomes were analyzed in terms of the presence or absence of rotation, viscosity, conformable fractional parameter and two temperatures for various values.

A novel model is formulated of a microelongated semiconductor material. The material is excited in the context of photothermal transport processes. The photo-thermoelasticity theories are applied when the thermal conductivity of the microelongated semiconductor medium is changed. The novel model describes the microelongation case and the interference between the different propagation waves in the elastic medium. Thermal conductivity can be taken as a linear function of temperature during electronic and thermoelastic deformation processes. The dimensionless main fields are taken in a two-dimensional (2D) with maps converter. The harmonic wave method according to the normal mode analysis has been applied to convert the main equations to higher-order ordinary differential equations (ODE). Complete solutions are obtained by applying some conditions that are taken on the semiconductor surface. The results obtained for silicon (Si) are numerically simulated, with illustrations showing this. The comparisons are made and discussed for the main fields during the variable thermal conductivity and microelongation.
