Abstract Social media messages often provide insights into offline behaviors. Although hate speech proliferates rapidly across social media platforms, it is rarely recognized as a cybercrime, even when it may be linked to offline hate crimes that typically involve physical violence. This paper aims to anticipate violent acts by analyzing online hate speech (hatred, toxicity, and sentiment) and comparing it to offline hate crime. The dataset for this preregistered study included social media posts from X (previously called Twitter) and Facebook and internal police records of hate crimes reported in Spain between 2016 and 2018. After conducting preliminary data analysis to check the moderate temporal correlation, we used time series analysis to develop computational models (VAR, GLMNet, and XGBTree) to predict four time periods of these rare events on a daily and weekly basis. Forty-eight models were run to forecast two types of offline hate crimes, those against migrants and those against the LGBT community. The best model for migrant crime achieved an R2 of 64%, while that for LGBT crime reached 53%. According to the best ML models, the weekly aggregations outperformed the daily aggregations, the national models outperformed those geolocated in Madrid, and those about migration were more effective than those about LGBT people. Moreover, toxic language outperformed hatred and sentiment analysis, Facebook posts were better predictors than tweets, and in most cases, speech temporally preceded crime. Although we do not make any claims about causation, we conclude that online inflammatory language could be a leading indicator for detecting potential hate crimes acts and that these models can have practical applications for preventing these crimes.

The Congress and Senate¿s Inaugural Sessions for the XIII, XIV and XV terms were controversial due to the way some parliamentarians took the oath to uphold the Constitution, by adding to the usual format very diverse statements. The Constitutional Court has a well-established doctrine on the matter, which is analysed in this paper. However, very recently, it has occurred that a group of representatives appealed to the Court after considering that the acceptance of specific ways of taking the oath by the Presidency violated his ius in officium. The paper analyses the ruling of the Court (65/2023) from a critical point of view, and it concludes that it would be desirable to ensure flexibility or remove the requirement to take the oath in order to achieve the status of representative.

En noviembre de 2023 fue registrada en el Congreso de los Diputados una proposición de ley orgánica “de amnistía para la normalización institucional, política y social en Cataluña”. Numerosos juristas han realizado análisis sobre la constitucionalidad de una amnistía a los responsables del proceso independentista catalán, desde ópticas tales como el principio de separación de poderes, la igualdad ante la ley o la prohibición de los indultos generales. El presente trabajo trata de aportar un nuevo criterio al debate: el relativo al juicio de los padres de la Constitución sobre la figura de la amnistía, que será analizado desde el reconocimiento del valor complementario o relativo de los métodos de interpretación históricos.

Puerto Ángel (PA), Puerto Escondido (PE) y Punta Maldonado (PM) albergan ecosistemas coralinos en el sur del Pacífico mexicano (SPM); sin embargo, estos ecosistemas se encuentran dentro de los menos evaluados y prospectados. BackgroundUrogenital schistosomiasis is considered a Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) by the World Health Organization (WHO). It is estimated to affect 150 million people worldwide, with a high relevance in resource-poor settings of the African continent. The gold-standard diagnosis is still direct observation of Schistosoma haematobium eggs in urine samples by optical microscopy. Novel diagnostic techniques based on digital image analysis by Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools are a suitable alternative for schistosomiasis diagnosis.MethodologyDigital images of 24 urine sediment samples were acquired in non-endemic settings. S. haematobium eggs were manually labeled in digital images by laboratory professionals and used for training YOLOv5 and YOLOv8 models, which would achieve automatic detection and localization of the eggs. Urine sediment images were also employed to perform binary classification of images to detect erythrocytes/leukocytes with the MobileNetv3Large, EfficientNetv2, and NasNetLarge models. A robotized microscope system was employed to automatically move the slide through the X-Y axis and to auto-focus the sample.ResultsA total number of 1189 labels were annotated in 1017 digital images from urine sediment samples. YOLOv5x training demonstrated a 99.3% precision, 99.4% recall, 99.3% F-score, and 99.4% mAP0.5 for S. haematobium detection. NasNetLarge has an 85.6% accuracy for erythrocyte/leukocyte detection with the test dataset. Convolutional neural network training and comparison demonstrated that YOLOv5x for the detection of eggs and NasNetLarge for the binary image classification to detect erythrocytes/leukocytes were the best options for our digital image database.ConclusionsThe development of low-cost novel diagnostic techniques based on the detection and identification of S. haematobium eggs in urine by AI tools would be a suitable alternative to conventional microscopy in non-endemic settings. This technical proof-of-principle study allows laying the basis for improving the system, and optimizing its implementation in the laboratories.

Summary: Background: Prognostic factors for ambulatory oncology patients have been described, including Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG), tumor stage and malnutrition. However, there is no firm evidence on which variables best predict mortality in hospitalized patients receiving active systemic treatment. Our main goal was to develop a predictive model for 90-day mortality upon admission. Methods: Between 2020 and 2022, we prospectively collected data from three sites for cancer patients with hospitalizations. Those with metastatic disease receiving systemic therapy in the 6 months before unplanned admission were eligible to this study. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) method was used to select the most relevant factors to predict 90-day mortality at admission. A multivariable logistic regression was fitted to create the PROgnostic Score for Hospitalized Cancer Patients (PROMISE) score. The score was developed in a single-center training cohort and externally validated. Findings: Of 1658 hospitalized patients, 1009 met eligibility criteria. Baseline demographics, patient and disease characteristics were similar across cohorts. Lung cancer was the most common tumor type in both cohorts. Factors associated with higher 90-day mortality included worse ECOG, stable/progressive disease, low levels of albumin, increased absolute neutrophil count, and high lactate dehydrogenase. The c-index after bootstrap correction was 0.79 (95% CI, 0.75–0.82) and 0.74 (95% CI, 0.68–0.80) in the training and validation cohorts, respectively. A web tool (https://promise.vhio.net/) was developed to facilitate the clinical deployment of the model. Interpretation: The PROMISE tool demonstrated high performance for identifying metastatic cancer patients who are alive 90 days after an unplanned hospitalization. BackgroundCommon Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID) represents a heterogenic group of primary immunodeficiencies (PID) characterized by impaired antibody production and susceptibility to infections. Non-infectious complications, such as autoimmune diseases, lymphoproliferative disorders, and malignancies, now significantly impact prognosis. Moreover, both hematologic and solid organ malignancies are more frequently observed in CVID patients compared to other PIDs. The risk factors for carcinogenesis in CVID remain largely unknown.ObjectiveThis multicenter study aims to characterize the clinical profile of cancer in CVID patients in Spain and to identify independent risk factors associated with malignancy development, focusing on the role of immune dysregulation.MethodsA nationwide, cross-sectional study was conducted from November 2019 to May 2022, involving 17 hospitals treating PID patients in Spain. Data were collected systematically on demographics, infectious and non-infectious comorbidities, immunological parameters, and treatment. Resumen: Objetivo: Caracterizar el perfil del cuidador primario informal (CPI) de pacientes adultos con diabetes tipo 2 (DT2) y los posibles factores asociados al colapso del cuidador (CC). Diseño: Estudio observacional, descriptivo, transversal y analítico, Emplazamiento: Unidad Médica de Atención Ambulatoria. Participantes: CPI mexicanos de pacientes adultos con DT2. Mediciones principales: Se recopilaron datos mediante un diseño prolectivo utilizando la escala de Zarit y una encuesta estructurada sobre factores sociodemográficos. Se realizó un análisis estadístico descriptivo y modelos de regresión logística univariantes y multivariantes. Resultados: El perfil del CPI es asumido por: mujeres, personas de 36-58 años, hijas, personas con un nivel educativo de secundaria y preparatoria, casados, católicos, con ingresos 5 años al cuidado de su paciente, sin capacitación y con enfermedades crónicas. Los factores de riesgo que incrementan el riesgo del CC son: ser mujer (OR = 11,03; IC 95%: 1,49-81,95), tener el antecedente de más de 5 años de haber asumido el papel de cuidador (OR = 2,65; IC 95%: 1,07-6,55), vivir en una casa propia (OR = 3,03; IC 95%: 1,04-8,82), con 6 o más habitantes (OR = 2,41; IC 95%: 1,08-5,38). El apoyo de redes se asoció como factor protector (OR = 0,15; IC 95: 0,07-0,33). Conclusiones: Se requieren programas de prevención para evitar el CC y sus complicaciones, así como, intervenciones para mejorar la calidad de vida de los CPI y la de los pacientes cuidados, incorporando estrategias para generar y/o incrementar sus redes de apoyo familiar y social. Abstract: Objective: To characterize the profile of the informal primary caregiver (IPC) of adult patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and the possible factors associated with caregiver collapse (CC). Design: Observational, descriptive, cross-sectional and analytical study. Site: Ambulatory Care Medical Unit. Participants: Mexican CPIs of adult patients with T2D. Main measurements: Data were collected through a prolective design using the Zarit scale and a structured survey on sociodemographic factors. A descriptive statistical analysis and univariate and multivariate logistic regression models were performed. Results: The CPI profile is assumed by: women, people aged 36-58, daughters, people with a secondary and high school educational level, married, Catholic, with income 5 years to the care of their patient, without training and with chronic diseases. The risk factors that increase the risk of CC are: being a woman (OR = 11.03; 95% CI: 1.49-81.95), having a history of more than 5 years of having assumed the role of caregiver (OR = 2, 65; 95% CI: 1.07-6.55), living in one's own house (OR = 3.03; 95% CI: 1.04-8.82), with 6 or more inhabitants (OR = 2.41; 95% CI: 1.08-5.38). The support of other family members and/or friends was associated as a protective factor (OR = 0.15; 95% CI: 0.07-0.33). Conclusions: Prevention programs are required to avoid CC and complications, as well as interventions to improve the quality of life of the CPI and patients in care, incorporating strategies to generate and/or increase their family and social support networks.

Background Onychocryptosis is a nail deformity that occurs when the side of the nail grows into soft tissue, which causes pain, sepsis and the formation of granulation. The aim of the study was to evaluate and compare different levels of kinesiophobia in subjects with onychocryptosis before and after surgery to eliminate this condition. Methods A descriptive and observational study was conducted with a total sample size of 25 subjects with a mean age of 40.96 ± 18.25 years. The pretest sample was composed of the 25 subjects before the surgical treatment of onychocryptosis and the posttest sample was composed of the same 25 subjects after the surgical treatment of onychocryptosis. Kinesiophobia levels and total scores were self-reported using the Spanish version of the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia (TSK-11). Results The Wilcoxon test for related samples and the Mann-Whitney U test for independent samples were used to compare the results before and after the surgical treatment. It was observed that in all the items as well as in the total score, there were significant changes in the levels of kinesiophobia, after the surgical intervention for onychocryptosis (P 0.05). Before surgery, 0% of the subjects with onychocryptosis reported not being afraid of movement, 16% reported mild fear of movement, 8% reported moderate fear of movement and 76% of the subjects with onychocryptosis reported severe and maximum fear of movement. Abstract This article presents the results of a study that evaluated VinclesBCN during COVID-19. This digital-based public social service aims to prevent loneliness and isolation in +65-year-old adults living in Barcelona. Through service user (N = 12) and professional (N = 6) interviews and a questionnaire with service users (N = 255), we demonstrate the pivotal role of digital connectedness in transforming VinclesBCN into a lifeline during the pandemic. The analysis revealed the importance of sociability, social support, and, especially, entertainment in coping with pandemic fatigue and facilitating social connectivity and support among users. Users engaged in activities such as sharing images, songs, memes, and daily greetings to provide proximity, sociability, and care among users, whether they belonged to preexisting groups or were newly introduced to the platform. It also facilitated the identification of individuals who needed companionship, comfort, or more specialized support. The findings emphasize the significance of entertainment as a resilience-building strategy during times of uncertainty. Despite the positive impact, not all users equally used the platform. Non-use was strongly associated with being a woman, having a low educational level, having preexisting social relationships, less time of enrolment in the platform, as well as a high perception of loneliness, poor self-reported health, and low mood. The article underscores the need for further research into older adults’ digital engagement during crises, its role in building resilience, and advocating for inclusive digital interventions that take into account diverse older adults’ needs and experiences in crisis contexts.

In the EU, policies towards territorial development and the sustainability of agri-food systems are exemplified above all in Pillar II of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). However, policies for the promotion of sustainable food systems and networks are mainly driven by municipalities and large cities. In order to understand multi-level configurations of policies to promote Sustainable Food Systems (SFS), this paper strives to identify the challenges that municipal policymakers face in implementing sustainable agri-food policies, from a multi-level governance perspective. To this end, and through in-depth interviews and secondary documentation analysis, the policies implemented in 10 different municipalities of the Madrid Region (Spain) are studied and the challenges these municipalities are facing are analysed from a multi-scale and territorialised perspective. The following research objectives are addressed: (1) description of the type of policies implemented for the promotion of SFS and the narrative frameworks in which they are shaped; (2) identification of challenges of local policies to support SFS especially governance challenges; and (3) proposals for the promotion of sustainable food systems through a multi-level, territorialised governance perspective. The paper identifies three main axes of tension and discoordination—municipal Vs regional competences; agricultural vs. food policies; and rural vs. urban territories—that constrains the sustainability potential of multi-level agro food policies. Finally, we provide a comprehensive, sustainable scheme to assess local agri-food governance throughout a multi-level and multi-actor approach, setting interrelations between the different levels, actors and agencies involved to overcome the lock-ins identified.

The CABANA project (Capacity Building for Bioinformatics in Latin America) was funded by the UK’s Global Challenges Research Fund in 2017 with the aim to strengthen the bioinformatics capacity and extend its applications in Latin America focused on three challenge areas – communicable diseases, sustainable food production and protection of biodiversity. For 5 years, the project executed activities including data analysis workshops, train-the-trainer workshops, secondments, eLearning development, knowledge exchange meetings, and research projects in 10 countries. The project was successful in accomplishing all its goals with a major impact on the region. It became a model by which the research needs determined the training that was delivered. Multiple publications and over 800 trainees are part of the legacy of the project.

Esta iniciativa surge de la necesidad de repensar y redefinir las fronteras entre disciplinas que, aunque tradicionalmente diferenciadas, hoy se entrelazan de maneras complejas y con un gran potencial de contrapunto a las narrativas establecidas. Si en nuestros imaginarios ancestrales de referencia el arte, la ciencia y la tecnología aparecen a menudo como entidades indisociables, creemos que debemos rehabitar y dotar de sentido a ese punto cero de la cultura donde estas esferas de conocimiento se fusionan con naturalidad, invocando la máxima de Hans Haacke según la cual la realidad no se divide en departamentos universitarios.

En Tamaulipas la ganadería caprina extensiva de la región semiárida del Altiplano contribuye anualmente con la producción del 41% de ganado en pie y el 87% de leche en el estado. El objetivo de la investigación fue caracterizar el sistema extensivo que practican las unidades de producción caprinas de los municipios de Jaumave, Bustamante y Tula. Mediante la aplicación de encuestas estructuradas que se realizaron en meses de diciembre 2021 y enero 2022 se obtuvo información socioeconómica, alimenticia, productiva, reproductiva y sanitaria de 40 unidades de producción caprinas. Para sintetizar y tipificar la información se realizó un análisis factorial de componentes principales y un análisis clúster mediante el Programa Estadístico de Ciencias Sociales (SPSS versión 24). Se identificaron cuatro factores (manejo, producción, pastoreo y reproducción) que explican la mayor parte de la variabilidad total de los datos y se determinaron cuatro grupos de unidades de producción. La caracterización del sistema caprino de producción extensiva en el Altiplano de Tamaulipas se describe de forma general con variables de manejo y producción. Sin embargo, el análisis de las tipologías de unidades de producción mostró heterogeneidad en el sistema, en este sentido, las diferencias entre las medias de las agrupaciones que más destacaron fueron finalidad zootécnica, reproducción, producción e ingresos anuales. La subalimentación, escasez de agua y deficiente manejo reproductivo se asocian a la baja productividad y alta mortalidad de los animales.

Abstract This article will attempt to analyze the current impact of Artificial Intelligence in Spanish healthcare, as well as the challenges that its application poses both from an ethical and legal point of view. Technological advances, which are already being applied in healthcare, make it necessary to adapt the legal system to the new trends that are emerging in society and force healthcare professionals to review their codes of ethics in the face of new ethical dilemmas, since these codes of ethics do not have clear guidelines for action on AI that raise relevant ethical problems to which no response is being given, except for the code of ethics for medicine, which has recently been included. After a review of the last 5 years of Spanish and European regulations in medicine, it can be concluded that the regulation and legislation of the application of AI is very deficient, both in the EU and in Spain. In order to try to identify different ways of resolving conflicts related to AI in medicine, jurisprudential sentences related to the rights and obligations of health professionals, patients and users have been analyzed and reviewed. Therefore, the paper concludes with the proposal of a series of aspects to be taken into account for the future regulation of the application of AI in medicine.

This paper proposes a method for identifying the lithological properties of the medium based on the joint analysis of the Lamé parameters, Young's Modulus, and Poisson's Ratio. Additionally, an analysis of brittleness was proposed to identify brittle/ductile intervals and areas of potential reservoirs. The petroelastic properties were analyzed at well and seismic scales using ternary rock physics templates. The ternary templates were built from a self-consistent micromechanical model. In addition, the analysis allows for preserving the conditions of the environment subsurface in the seismic and log information. A workflow for petroelastic lithology interpretation was coupled with a workflow of brittleness modeling. The results correlate well with conventional qualitative methodologies applied in previous studies. A brittleness analysis methodology was developed and tested to identify reservoirs associated with the Lower Cretaceous in the Stybarrow field in Australia; the results highlight the high brittleness zones attenuated by hydrocarbons ( ). The proposed seismic-based methodology is an improvement to conventional analysis trends for identifying lithologies and prospective hydrocarbon zones.

In pursuing agroecological urbanism – a strategic endeavor to dismantle disempowering structures within urban food systems through cultivating mutual interdependencies – alternative food networks (AFNs) emerge as pivotal catalysts for transformative change. Indeed, there are increasing arguments for AFNs working on diverse issues to pool resources and address food system challenges from multiple perspectives under a common frame. However, a pressing need exists for greater clarity on tensions and challenges in establishing a network of AFNs within a shared framework, such as that fostered by agroecological urbanism. This study explores impediments to organizing AFNs into transformative networks, drawing insights from two diverse urban contexts – Preston, England, and Vitoria-Gasteiz, Basque Country – using a case study methodology comprising online semi-structured interviews and participant observation. Our findings underscore three primary barriers to this process: divergent conceptualizations of food questions, education and awareness-raising as a limited convergence point, and constrained resources. Such barriers generate a practical divorce between social and environmental goals in the experiences analyzed. Central to this division is also the pivotal question of the subject of justice – whether AFNs advocate primarily for urban citizens’ interests or prioritize peri-urban and rural farmers’ concerns. The analysis highlights the need to develop inclusive socio-ecological narratives within the overarching framework of agroecological urbanism as a critical step in fostering collaborative coalitions among AFNs that move beyond individualized change. Building these coalitions would depend on funding availability for long-term strategic collaborative efforts, emphasizing the crucial role of public authorities in such processes.

BackgroundCountries across Europe have faced similar evolutions of SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern, including the Alpha, Delta, and Omicron variants.Materials and methodsWe used data from GISAID and applied a robust, automated mathematical substitution model to study the dynamics of COVID-19 variants in Europe over a period of more than 2 years, from late 2020 to early 2023. This model identifies variant substitution patterns and distinguishes between residual and dominant behavior. We used weekly sequencing data from 19 European countries to estimate the increase in transmissibility (Δβ) between consecutive SARS-CoV-2 variants. In addition, we focused on large countries with separate regional outbreaks and complex scenarios of multiple competing variants.ResultsOur model accurately reproduced the observed substitution patterns between the Alpha, Delta, and Omicron major variants. We estimated the daily variant prevalence and calculated Δβ between variants, revealing that: (i) Δβ increased progressively from the Alpha to the Omicron variant; (ii) Δβ showed a high degree of variability within Omicron variants; (iii) a higher Δβ was associated with a later emergence of the variant within a country; (iv) a higher degree of immunization of the population against previous variants was associated with a higher Δβ for the Delta variant; (v) larger countries exhibited smaller Δβ, suggesting regionally diverse outbreaks within the same country; and finally (vi) the model reliably captures the dynamics of competing variants, even in complex scenarios.ConclusionThe use of mathematical models allows for precise and reliable estimation of daily cases of each variant. By quantifying Δβ, we have tracked the spread of the different variants across Europe, highlighting a robust increase in transmissibility trend from Alpha to Omicron. Additionally, we have shown that the geographical characteristics of a country, as well as the timing of new variant entrances, can explain some of the observed differences in variant substitution dynamics across countries.

This condition primarily affects the axial skeleton and presents direct foot involvement, such as Achilles enthesitis or plantar fascia involvement.ObjectiveThis study aimed to investigate the impact of foot health on the quality of life of individuals with AS compared to a control group without AS.Materials and methodsA sample of 112 subjects was recruited, with a mean age of 46.80 ± 10.49 years, divided into two groups: 56 individuals with AS (cases) and 56 individuals without AS (controls). Obesity has increasingly become a worldwide epidemic, as demonstrated by epidemiological and clinical studies. Obesity may lead to the development of a broad spectrum of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), such as coronary heart disease, hypertension, heart failure, cerebrovascular disease, atrial fibrillation, ventricular arrhythmias, and sudden cardiac death. In addition to hypertension, there are other cardiometabolic risk factors (CRFs) such as visceral adiposity, dyslipidemia, insulin resistance, diabetes, elevated levels of fibrinogen and C-reactive protein, and others, all of which increase the risk of CVD events. The mechanisms involved between obesity and CVD mainly include insulin resistance, oxidative stress, inflammation, and adipokine dysregulation, which cause maladaptive structural and functional alterations of the heart, particularly left-ventricular remodeling and diastolic dysfunction. Natural products of plants provide a diversity of nutrients and different bioactive compounds, including phenolics, flavonoids, terpenoids, carotenoids, anthocyanins, vitamins, minerals, fibers, and others, which possess a wide range of biological activities including antihypertensive, antilipidemic, antidiabetic, and other activities, thus conferring cardiometabolic benefits. In this review, we discuss the main therapeutic interventions using extracts from herbs and plants in preclinical and clinical trials with protective properties targeting CRFs. Molecular mechanisms and therapeutic targets of herb and plant extracts for the prevention and treatment of CRFs are also reviewed.

Over the past decade, global screening time has increased, a trend intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to the integration of screens into daily life. Studies have documented the adverse effects of prolonged screening on ocular health and binocular vision, such as dry eye syndrome, blurry vision, headaches, myopia, and visual fatigue. However, it remains unclear if prolonged screening affects the development of colour vision defects. Objectives: This study aimed to determine the relationship between (a) prolonged screening and acquired colour vision deficiencies and (b) COVID-19 infection and acquired colour vision deficiencies. Methods: A population of 50 individuals with normal trichromatic vision, aged 20 to 30 years, with an average daily screening time of 516.7 min, was evaluated. Participants were initially screened using the Ishihara 32-plate Test to exclude those with congenital colour vision deficiencies. The Farnsworth–Munsell 100 Hue Test (FM100H) and Square Root Total Error Score (√TES) were used to evaluate acquired colour vision deficiencies under standardized conditions. The dataset underwent dual analysis: (1) detailed statistical scrutiny and (2) comparison of √TES values with historical data from 1982, 1991, 2001, and 2002. Results: The global group had a √TES (Mean ± SD) of 5.40 ± 1.58, the COVID-19 subgroup 5.46 ± 1.62, and the non-COVID-19 subgroup 5.32 ± 1.51. No significant differences were found between the √TES values from this population and those reported in previous studies. Statistical analysis showed no significant correlation between gender and COVID-19 infection with √TES values. Conclusions: Neither screening time nor COVID-19 infection appears to significantly impact the occurrence of permanently acquired colour vision deficiencies in individuals aged 20 to 30 years.

Worldwide meat consumption and production have nearly quintupled in the last 60 years. In this context, research and the application of new technologies related to animal reproduction have evolved in an accelerated way. The objective of the present study was to apply nanoemulsions (NEs) as carriers of lipids to feed bovine embryos in culture media and verify their impact on the development of embryos produced in vitro. The NEs were characterized by particle size, polydispersity, size distribution, physical stability, morphology using atomic force microscopy (AFM), surface tension, density, pH, and rheological behavior. The NEs were prepared by the emulsification/evaporation technique. A central composite rotatable design (CCRD) was used to optimize the NE fabrication parameters. The three optimized formulations used in the embryo application showed an emulsion stability index (ESI) between 0.046 and 0.086, which reflects high stability. The mean droplet diameter analyzed by laser diffraction was approximately 70–80 nm, suggesting a possible transit across the embryonic zona pellucida with pores of an average 90 nm in diameter. AFM images clearly confirm the morphology of spherical droplets with a mean droplet diameter of less than 100 nm. The optimized formulations added during the higher embryonic genome activation phase in bovine embryos enhanced early embryonic development.

Se evaluó un nuevo sistema de monitoreo para Hypothenemus hampei Ferrari en el cultivo de café Coffea arabica L. en la región de Coatepec, Veracruz, México. Los tratamientos con atrayentes probados fueron: T1=metanol+etanol (3:1), T2=vinagre de manzana+etanol (3:1), T3=vinagre blanco+etanol (3:1), T4=vinagre de manzana+etanol (1:1), T5=vinagre blanco+etanol (1:1) y T6=etanol al 96° colocados en trampas artesanales durante un año. Con la prueba de Tukey se demostró que el mejor tratamiento fue el T5 con una media de 52,00 capturas, le siguió T3 con 39,65 individuos y T1 con 24,15 hembras, el T2, T4 y T6 no mostraron una respuesta significativa. La investigación aporta a los cafeticultores de subsistencia, un nuevo atrayente para el monitoreo de la broca del café con vinagre blanco más etanol en la proporción 1:1, ya que resultó efectivo, económico, no tóxico para la salud humana y amigable con el ambiente.

Introduction and Objectives: Obesity is an epidemic in the world, linked with insulin resistance, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), being the latter main cause of global death. NASH progresses with inflammation with or without hepatic fibrosis, including a hormonal dysregulation. Pirfenidone (PFD) have anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic effects. However, its effects on hormonal regulation are completely unknown. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of PFD on hormonal expression levels, related to the lipids and carbohydrates metabolism in high-fat/high-carbohydrate (HFHC)-diet-induced obese male C57BL/6J mice. Materials and Patients: Twenty-week-old mice were fed with normal diet (ND, 3.1 kcal/g, n=7) and HFHC (65.1 kcal/g, water with 2.31% fructose and 1.89% sucrose, n=14) diet for 16 weeks; at 8 weeks, seven mice with HFHC were administered PFD (300 mg/kg/day) by gavage. ITT, ELISA, dry-chemistry, ELISA, histologies and SPSS were analyzed. Results: HFHC mice development NASH and myocarditis with fibrosis in both tissues (P≤0.05). HFHC showed elevated resistin and aspartate aminotransferase (P≤0.05). Parameters significantly increased in HFHC (P≤0.05), were ameliorated by PFD, such as weight (body, liver, and heart), tibia length, epididymal fat, hepatic steatosis, hormones (insulin, glucagon, leptin, plasminogen activator inhibitor 1), lipid profile (total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, and VLDL), as well as inflammatory foci and fibrosis in hepatic and cardiac tissue (P≤0.05). Moreover, PFD reduced alanine aminotransferase (P≤0.05). Conclusions: In the current work, we showed that PFD increases hormone expression levels, which are implicated in the lipids and carbohydrates metabolism, and also improves expression levels of lipid profile and lipoproteins related with NASH and CVDs. These findings contribute and support the potential therapeutic of PFD for the prevention of NASH and cardiovascular disease development induced by obesity.

IntroductionKinesiophobia and lymphedema appear to be related conditions, and it is important to understand this relationship, as many of the symptoms and comorbidities presented by individuals with lower limb lymphedema are prevented and treated through movement, thus constituting kinesiophobia as a barrier to intervention. The objective of this study is, therefore, to evaluate and analyze the kinesiophobic beliefs reported by individuals with and without lower limb lymphedema, regarding the agreement, severity and differences found, and to establish levels of kinesiophobia.MethodsA case-control study with a total sample of 80 participants (40 with lower limb lymphedema and 40 without) was performed. Both groups (with and without lymphedema) were characterized anthropologically, sociodemographically, and clinically. In the case group, lymphedema was evaluated. Participants in both groups completed the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia - 13 items (TSK-13).ResultsIndividuals with lower limb lymphedema had higher TSK-13 scores than their matched group without lymphedema. The items belonging to the activity avoidance subscale had the highest agreement and score in both groups. Differences between groups were mainly established for items belonging to the somatic focus subscale, showing that individuals with lower limb lymphedema have kinesiophobic beliefs related to the perceived severity of their lymphedema. The prevalence of kinesiophobia was increased in both groups, but the severity was mild.ConclusionsConsidering the apparent tendency of people with lower limb lymphedema to present kinesiophobia and movement-limiting beliefs regarding the condition, greater attention should be paid to its assessment, prevention and treatment from a multidisciplinary and multimodal perspective, which takes into account the multiplicity of factors inherent to kinesiophobia and lymphedema and thus reduce their impact on the management of lymphedema.

Objectives: To validate the items of the Emotional Impact Questionnaire coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) related to risk perception, estimating its degree, among healthcare workers in the first wave of COVID-19 pandemic, identifying possible associated factors.Methods: cross-sectional study in 1872 healthcare workers of Brazil. The population was characterized by sociodemographic and occupational information, knowledge about COVID-19, quality of information received, risk perception and preventive measures about the disease, and sense of coherence. Results: Being divorced, having a chronic disease, spending more than 1 h per day getting informed about COVID-19, and always or almost always wearing a mask regardless of symptoms, as well as self-perception of health were associated with high-risk perception. An inverse association was found between risk perception, sense of coherence and not knowing if one has had occasional contact with confirmed COVID-19 cases. Conclusion: Risk perception is influenced by emotions, experiences, and knowledge. Sense of coherence and resilience have a role in reducing risk perception. Understanding risk perception is crucial for developing effective strategies to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and other similar scenarios.

In a clinical context, conventional optical microscopy is commonly used for the visualization of biological samples for diagnosis. However, the availability of molecular techniques and rapid diagnostic tests are reducing the use of conventional microscopy, and consequently the number of experienced professionals starts to decrease. Moreover, the continuous visualization during long periods of time through an optical microscope could affect the final diagnosis results due to induced human errors and fatigue. Therefore, microscopy automation is a challenge to be achieved and address this problem. The aim of the study is to develop a low-cost automated system for the visualization of microbiological/parasitological samples by using a conventional optical microscope, and specially designed for its implementation in resource-poor settings laboratories. A 3D-prototype to automate the majority of conventional optical microscopes was designed. Pieces were built with 3D-printing technology and polylactic acid biodegradable material with Tinkercad/Ultimaker Cura 5.1 slicing softwares. The system's components were divided into three subgroups: microscope stage pieces, storage/autofocus-pieces, and smartphone pieces. The prototype is based on servo motors, controlled by Arduino open-source electronic platform, to emulate the X-Y and auto-focus (Z) movements of the microscope. An average time of 27.00 ± 2.58 seconds is required to auto-focus a single FoV. Auto-focus evaluation demonstrates a mean average maximum Laplacian value of 11.83 with tested images. The whole automation process is controlled by a smartphone device, which is responsible for acquiring images for further diagnosis via convolutional neural networks. The prototype is specially designed for resource-poor settings, where microscopy diagnosis is still a routine process. The coalescence between convolutional neural network predictive models and the automation of the movements of a conventional optical microscope confer the system a wide range of image-based diagnosis applications. The accessibility of the system could help improve diagnostics and provide new tools to laboratories worldwide.

IntroductionBronchiolitis, mostly caused by Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), and influenza among other respiratory infections, lead to seasonal saturation at healthcare centers in temperate areas. There is no gold standard to characterize the stages of epidemics, nor the risk of respiratory infections growing. We aimed to define a set of indicators to assess the risk level of respiratory viral epidemics, based on both incidence and their short-term dynamics, and considering epidemical thresholds.MethodsWe used publicly available data on daily cases of influenza for the whole population and bronchiolitis in children

Background: During the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is estimated that around 25% of infected residents in Nursing Homes in Catalonia died, which accounted for more than 50% of total COVID-19 deaths in the region. This devasting impact not only highlights the structural deficits of the long-term care facilities system, but it also provides a unique opportunity to gather evidence to support a redesign of the health and social care models–a redesign that focuses on individuals and their singularities, and is equipped with the staff and infrastructure required to meet their needs. Methods: The ResiCOVID-19 project will include five work packages to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic (from March 2020 to June 2022) on the individuals living in long-term care facilities in Catalonia, their family members, health care workers, and the organisations themselves. In this project, we will develop proposals for improvement and indicators for the long-term care model in Catalonia to better adapt to the current and future needs of people-centred care through conducting a rapid review, analysis of international experiences, retrospective analysis, and a cross-sectional study. The analysis will be conducted both from a quantitative and a qualitative perspective, measuring the impact at a system level as well as at a setting and individual level, including residents, families, professionals, and managers of long-term care facilities. Conclusions: The ResiCOVID-19 project is expected to have a significant impact at different dimensions, including the care model, social and organisational aspects (on professionals and facilities), systemic efforts (both for the healthcare and the social systems), and scientific contributions (providing evidence in a field of limited research in Catalonia).

BackgroundFunctional Hallux Limitus (FHL) is a dynamic foot dysfunction characterized by a limitation of hallux dorsiflexion when the first metatarsal head is under load. FHL plays a role in the development of osteoarthrosis in the first metatarsophalangeal joint (IMTPJ). Forefoot disorders can significantly impact an individual's quality of life, leading to dysfunction and pain. The aim of this project was to evaluate the quality of life of school-aged individuals with and without FHL using the Foot Health Status Questionnaire (FHSQ).MethodsA case-control study was conducted to evaluate the outcomes in paediatric age. A total sample of 116 children between 6 and 12 years old was used to conduct this research. The sample was divided into two groups: (i) the healthy group (n = 58) and the FHL group (n = 58). The FHSQ was completed and the FHL test was performed in a seated position to classify the patients into the selected group.ResultsNon-significant changes were observed when the mean values of the FHSQ domains were compared between the groups with and without FHL, except for the “general foot health” domain (p = 0,024) associated with the specific foot health section (section 1) of the Questionnaire. For the domains linked with the general well-being section (section 2), there was not a statistically difference in the mean of the scores obtained between the two school-aged groups with and without FHL, being slightly lower in the group with the presence of FHL for the overall health and physical function domains. Both the healthy and case groups obtained and identical range of scores (10–100) for the “foot pain” domain. Nevertheless, the mean of the score was lower for the participants with FHL.ConclusionsThe perception of the quality of general foot health was poorer in the school-aged group with FHL. Variables such as foot pain and footwear are likely contributors influencing the perception of foot health quality. The school-aged population with FHL faces a decline in the quality of foot life. Ensuring adequate foot control in children and implementing future foot programs for this population are imperative for enhancing school children's perception of foot health and managing the development of pain and footwear-related issues.

Abstract Background Despite being a very common type of genetic variation, the distribution of copy-number variations (CNVs) in the population is still poorly understood. The knowledge of the genetic variability, especially at the level of the local population, is a critical factor for distinguishing pathogenic from non-pathogenic variation in the discovery of new disease variants. Results Here, we present the SPAnish Copy Number Alterations Collaborative Server (SPACNACS), which currently contains copy number variation profiles obtained from more than 400 genomes and exomes of unrelated Spanish individuals. By means of a collaborative crowdsourcing effort whole genome and whole exome sequencing data, produced by local genomic projects and for other purposes, is continuously collected. Once checked both, the Spanish ancestry and the lack of kinship with other individuals in the SPACNACS, the CNVs are inferred for these sequences and they are used to populate the database. A web interface allows querying the database with different filters that include ICD10 upper categories. This allows discarding samples from the disease under study and obtaining pseudo-control CNV profiles from the local population. We also show here additional studies on the local impact of CNVs in some phenotypes and on pharmacogenomic variants. SPACNACS can be accessed at: http://csvs.clinbioinfosspa.es/spacnacs/ . Conclusion SPACNACS facilitates disease gene discovery by providing detailed information of the local variability of the population and exemplifies how to reuse genomic data produced for other purposes to build a local reference database.

Our study aims to evaluate the effect of everolimus treatment on lung function in lung transplant (LT) patients with established chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD). Methods: This retrospective study included LT patients in two reference LT units who started everolimus therapy to treat CLAD from October 2008 to October 2016. We assessed the variation in the maximum forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1) before and after the treatment. Results: Fifty-seven patients were included in this study. The variation in the FEV1 was −102.7 (149.6) mL/month before starting everolimus compared to −44.7 (109.6) mL/month within the first three months, +1.4 (63.5) mL/month until the sixth month, and −7.4 (46.2) mL/month until the twelfth month (p < 0.05). Glomerular filtrate remained unchanged after everolimus treatment [59.1 (17.5) mL/min per 1.73 m2 at baseline and 60.9 (19.6) mL/min per 1.73 m2, 57.7 (20.5) mL/min per 1.73 m2, and 57.3 (17.8) mL/min per 1.73 m2, at 1, 3, and 6 months, respectively] (p > 0.05). Everolimus was withdrawn in 22 (38.6%) patients. The median time to withdrawal was 14.1 (5.5–25.1) months. Conclusions: This study showed an improvement in FEV1 decline in patients with CLAD treated with everolimus. However, the drug was withdrawn in a high proportion of patients.

The cyclist’s posture is typically characterized by a trunk flexion position to reach the handlebar of the bike. The pelvis serves as the base of the spine, and its tilt has been associated with the degree of extensibility of the hamstring, particularly in flexion postures of the trunk. The aim of this study was to determine whether, in professional cyclists, the degree of hamstring extensibility influences the pelvic tilt maintained while seated on the bicycle with support from the three handlebar grips of the road bike, as well as in other positions of the bicycle. To evaluate pelvic tilt, all participants were measured using the Spinal Mouse system. The results revealed statistically significant differences in pelvic tilt among the six positions assessed (p ≤ 0.05). Furthermore, the degree of hamstring extensibility of the hamstrings presented a strong and positive correlation with pelvic tilt in standing posture (r = 0.82), Sit-and-Reach (r = 0.76), and Toe-Touch (r = 0.88). However, the degree of hamstring extensibility showed no significant correlations with pelvic tilt in any posture maintained on the bicycle.

In the current COVID-19 landscape dominated by Omicron subvariants, understanding the timing and efficacy of vaccination against emergent lineages is crucial for planning future vaccination campaigns, yet detailed studies stratified by subvariant, vaccination timing, and age groups are scarce. This retrospective study analyzed COVID-19 cases from December 2021 to January 2023 in Catalonia, Spain, focusing on vulnerable populations affected by variants BA.1, BA.2, BA.5, and BQ.1 and including two national booster campaigns. Our database includes detailed information such as dates of diagnosis, hospitalization and death, last vaccination, and cause of death, among others. We evaluated the impact of vaccination on disease severity by age, variant, and vaccination status, finding that recent vaccination significantly mitigated severity across all Omicron subvariants, although efficacy waned six months post-vaccination, except for BQ.1, which showed more stable levels. Unvaccinated individuals had higher hospitalization and mortality rates. Our results highlight the importance of periodic vaccination to reduce severe outcomes, which are influenced by variant and vaccination timing. Although the seasonality of COVID-19 is uncertain, our analysis suggests the potential benefit of annual vaccination in populations >60 years old, probably in early fall, if COVID-19 eventually exhibits a major peak similar to other respiratory viruses.

The classical kinematic variables in swimming are based on the calculation of mean values. Stroke steadiness determines the relationship between the duration of all consecutive strokes throughout a test. The aims of the current investigation were to examine differences in stroke-to-stroke steadiness according to swimmers’ performance level on both body sides (breathing and non-breathing) and to analyse the interrelationship with kinematics during a 100 m front-crawl test. Thirty-two young, experienced swimmers voluntarily participated in the present study and were divided into two groups, national level (n = 15) and local level (n = 17), according to their competitive status within the national age-rankings. All participants performed a 100 m maximal test in a 50 m pool where they were laterally recorded. Kinematic variables such as mean velocity, stroke rate, stroke length, and stroke index, as well as long-term steadiness and short-term steadiness, were calculated. The two 50 m sections were analysed independently. Significant differences were observed between the two groups in the classical kinematic variables and in stroke steadiness (p < 0.05). In addition, stroke steadiness showed moderately high correlations with velocity (r = [−0.61–(−0.749)]) and stroke index (r = [−0.356–(−0.582)]). Maintaining a more stable inter-stroke period appears to be a determinant of performance in young, high-level national swimmers.

The aim of this study is to inventory and study ethnobotanical knowledge of edible plants in the Valencian Community (Spain). In respect to culinary uses, 92 species of plant were reported to be edible, finding the following uses: 58 raw, 52 cooked, 16 fried, 7 dried, 21 in liquors and beverages, 25 in dessert and sweets, 11 as seasoning, 17 in pickles, and 10 to curdle milk. We prepared a database that includes genus, family, scientific, and vernacular names in Spanish and Catalan for each plant. We also created a classification of nine edible uses and plant parts used, being Asteraceae (n = 18), Brassicaceae (n = 7), Chenopodiaceae (n = 6), and Rosaceae (n = 6) the families most characterized for gastronomic purposes. The species with the most elevated cultural importance (CI) values were Foeniculum vulgare (CI = 1.389), Cynara scolymus (CI = 1.374), Papaver rhoeas (CI = 1.211), Beta vulgaris (CI = 1.167), and Juglans regia (CI = 1.155). The most used parts were the leaves (71), flowers (25), and branches (19), while the least used were roots (9) and seeds (8). Traditional knowledge of these plants helps to preserve traditional cuisine, promote the local economy and, in several species, encourage their cultivation.

Abstract Although increasingly being recognized as a driver of poor health and health inequities, there is limited research on the pervasive effects of racism on population health. In this editorial, we set the context and invite contributions for a BMC Public Health Collection of articles titled, “Racism as Public Health Crisis.”

La Primera Guerra Mundial evidenció los horrores de una matanza industrializada en la que los soldados “proletarizados” eran meras figuras frágiles y fácilmente reemplazables. La muerte anónima en masa experimentada en el frente inició un giro antropológico en la concepción del valor humano. La célebre novela de Erich Maria Remarque Sin novedad en el frente mostró con crudeza la deshumanización del soldado en el conflicto bélico, tan solo paliada por el sentimiento de camaradería. No obstante, la obra testifica también como el “rostro del Otro”, según la formulación de Emmanuel Levinas, puede conducir asimismo a una reconsideración ética de la vida humana en el contexto bélico.

Background: Tree tomato (Solanum betaceum Cav.) is a plant introduced to Mexico since colonial times, currently it is found as a crop in backyard orchards in the central mountainous region of Veracruz. Due to its nutraceutical properties, its cultivation is gaining importance worldwide and spreading. However, since there are no established formal crops in Mexico, there are no studies on the pests that may affect the development of this plant. Objective: To identify the plant-parasitic nematodes associated with the rhizospheric soil and root, as well as the determine their abundance in tree tomato plants, located in the Tlacolulan and Xalapa municipalities, in Veracruz state. Methodology: The nematodes were extracted from the soil and roots, fixed, clarified, mounted for identification at the genus level, and quantified. Results: 704 specimens belonging to 14 genera were identified: Criconema, Criconemoides, Filenchus, Fraglenchus, Gracilacus, Helicotylenchus, Malenchus, Meloidogyne, Ogma, Paratylenchus, Pratylenchus, Pratylenchoides, Sakia, and Thada. The most abundant nematodes were Helicotylenchus and Meloidogyne. Implications: Since in five samples we found Meloidogyne individuals, a diagnosis must be made prior to the establishment of new crops to avoid the increase in populations that can affect the performance of the plants. Conclusion: Criconema, Filenchus, Fraglenchus, Malenchus, Ogma, Pratylenchoides, Sakia, and Thada are recorded for the first time associated with this plant.

Background: The honeybee (Apis mellifera L.) represents one of the most important species in the maintenance of ecosystems, since it contributes to crop pollination, which improves crop yields and the reproduction of other plants. However, some factors such as climate change, africanization and various pathological processes, including the presence of the Varroa destructor mite, have led to a decline in A. mellifera populations. Objective: To collect scientific information on the plants used for mite control, as well as the organic derivatives and secondary compounds with bioacaricidal potential used for such control. Main findings: Due to the fact that infestations of this mite have become a major problem, numerous control methods have been developed and tested, mainly based on synthetic acaricides; however, these have generated disadvantages such as the development of resistance and contamination of products such as honey and pollen. Implications: Therefore, it is necessary to implement an organic, environmentally friendly control method that reduces mite populations without developing resistance, and that does not generate contamination of hive sub-products. Conclusions: In general, the most common types of extracts tested were essential oils and hydroalcoholic extracts, which reported mortality ranging from 26.4 to 99.5% on V. destructor. Likewise, some species of plants endemic to Matorral Espinoso Tamaulipeco (MET) have been tested against other arthropods and that could be an important source of components that act as acaricides; however, it is necessary to identify and analyze the secondary compounds, as well as the molecules and their activity on V. destructor.

IntroductionMalaria is one of the most prevalent infectious diseases in sub-Saharan Africa, with 247 million cases reported worldwide in 2021 according to the World Health Organization. Optical microscopy remains the gold standard technique for malaria diagnosis, however, it requires expertise, is time-consuming and difficult to reproduce. Therefore, new diagnostic techniques based on digital image analysis using artificial intelligence tools can improve diagnosis and help automate it.MethodsIn this study, a dataset of 2571 labeled thick blood smear images were created. YOLOv5x, Faster R-CNN, SSD, and RetinaNet object detection neural networks were trained on the same dataset to evaluate their performance in Plasmodium parasite detection. Attention modules were applied and compared with YOLOv5x results. To automate the entire diagnostic process, a prototype of 3D-printed pieces was designed for the robotization of conventional optical microscopy, capable of auto-focusing the sample and tracking the entire slide.ResultsComparative analysis yielded a performance for YOLOv5x on a test set of 92.10% precision, 93.50% recall, 92.79% F-score, and 94.40% mAP0.5 for leukocyte, early and mature Plasmodium trophozoites overall detection. F-score values of each category were 99.0% for leukocytes, 88.6% for early trophozoites and 87.3% for mature trophozoites detection. Attention modules performance show non-significant statistical differences when compared to YOLOv5x original trained model. The predictive models were integrated into a smartphone-computer application for the purpose of image-based diagnostics in the laboratory. The system can perform a fully automated diagnosis by the auto-focus and X-Y movements of the robotized microscope, the CNN models trained for digital image analysis, and the smartphone device. The new prototype would determine whether a Giemsa-stained thick blood smear sample is positive/negative for Plasmodium infection and its parasite levels. The whole system was integrated into the iMAGING smartphone application.ConclusionThe coalescence of the fully-automated system via auto-focus and slide movements and the autonomous detection of Plasmodium parasites in digital images with a smartphone software and AI algorithms confers the prototype the optimal features to join the global effort against malaria, neglected tropical diseases and other infectious diseases.

El presente artículo presenta el proyecto The Touching Community (2015-2022) del bailarín, coreógrafo y pedagogo Aimar Pérez Galí como un ejemplo paradigmático de la politización del duelo queer que han analizado autoras como Sarah Ahmed y Judith Butler. Se profundiza en las múltiples materializaciones de este proyecto performativo con la intención de estudiar la potencialidad de la danza colectiva para desarrollar nuevas y necesarias formas de duelo y de conmemoración a modo de políticas de duelo queer. El engarce en la investigación de Pérez Galí entre las consecuencias de la crisis del sida en el ámbito de la danza en países hispanoparlantes y la teoría del duelo queer contemporánea, nos servirá para acceder desde unas tecnologías del duelo encarnadas a aquellas demandas de dignificación de vidas abyectas, así como a las potencias políticas de plantear una nueva ontología corporal común basada en la vulnerabilidad.

En 1941 Eero Saarinen y Charles Eames ganaron los primeros premios en el concurso de mobiliario moderno promovido por el MoMA. Sus diseños de sillas y butacas de madera laminada fueron aclamados por la crítica especializada; sin embargo, la entrada de los Estado Unidos en la Segunda Guerra Mundial impidió el posterior desarrollo de los prototipos y modelos a escala premiados. En 1947 el Museo volvió a convocar un nuevo concurso, orientado en esta ocasión a promover un mobiliario adecuado a las nuevas condiciones de la vida doméstica en la época de posguerra. La exposición en 1950 de los prototipos premiados, junto a otros de calidad indudable, tendr´ía una gran repercusión en el diseño de mobiliario durante la década de los cincuenta, contribuyendo a forjar el imaginario de lo que solemos conocer como el American Way of Life.
