AbstractThis study delves into the dynamic relationship between social networks (SNs) and the metrics of scientific journals, with the goal of illuminating their collaborative potential. Focused on the journal ‘Retos de ciencias de la administración y la economía’, which is indexed in Scopus, this investigation employs an empirical, cross-sectional, and correlational approach. The study analyzes over 160 journals indexed in Latindex, incorporating SN presence and Google Scholar profiles. The study’s findings underscore the pivotal role that strategic utilization of academic social networks plays in bolstering the visibility and recognition of scientific journals. By investigating the interplay between Facebook posts and journal citations, the research unveils correlations that indicate the power of SNs to contribute to improved metrics. The analysis further highlights the nexus between SN activity and follower engagement, shedding light on the avenue for growth in both areas. Notably, the correlation between social media engagement and Google Scholar citations underlines the interconnected nature of SNs and scholarly impact. The study also recognizes the intricate dynamics at play, suggesting that the relationship between SN activity and citations is influenced by a range of factors, including content quality and thematic alignment. Furthermore, it emphasizes the significance of an integrated approach, where SN management aligns with the goals of academic journals, thereby facilitating enhanced academic engagement and influence. Longitudinal studies could elucidate the evolution of SN-integrated strategies, while comparative analyses of diverse social media platforms could uncover the nuances of visibility enhancement.

Objectives This study presents the process evaluation of an effective stepped-care programme of eHealth interventions (Doing What Matters in Times of Stress [DWM] and Problem Management Plus [PM+]) for healthcare workers (HCWs) with psychological distress (RESPOND-HCWs trial) conducted in Spain. The aim is to analyse the context in which the programme was delivered, assess key implementation outcomes and explore mechanisms of action. Methods We used mixed methods. Quantitative data came from routine randomised control trial monitoring and structured observation, and qualitative data were collected using semi-structured, in-depth interviews with trial participants ( n = 12) and decision-makers ( n = 7) and a focus group discussion with intervention providers ( n = 7). We conducted a descriptive analysis of quantitative data using R software and a thematic analysis of qualitative data using NVivo. Results Context analysis revealed implementation barriers, including unrealistic expectations of participants about the programme and mental health-related stigma. The flexibility of interventions and the opportunity for mental health actions were enabling factors. Implementation outcomes showed that the trial was feasible, appropriate and timely, and that the intervention was delivered with minimal protocol deviations and good acceptance among participants. Mechanisms of action included confidence in the positive effect of the intervention, a good therapeutic relationship and specific intervention components. Conclusions These results supplement the outcome evaluation and can help inform large-scale implementation in similar settings. Specific recommendations include increasing mental health awareness and reducing stigma in the implementation setting, including a short orientation session and ensuring flexibility in schedules and peer support. Abstract Extreme floods threaten lives, assets and ecosystems, with the largest impacts occurring in urbanised areas. However, flood mitigation schemes generally neglect the fact that urban floods carry a considerable amount of solid load. In this study, we define urban flood drifters (UFDs) as loose objects present in the urban landscape that can become mobile under certain flow conditions, thereafter blocking drainage infrastructure and endangering both downstream and upstream communities. Based on 270 post‐flood photographic records from 63 major inundations of the past quarter‐century across 46 countries, we provide a comprehensive analysis of UFDs and their flood‐hazard implications. We show that a variety of vehicles, furniture and a heterogeneous mixture of drifters are present in post‐flooding scenarios. Plastic, construction debris and wood (natural or anthropogenic) dominate the statistics of transported drifters in urban floods (with frequencies of roughly 50%–60% each), followed by cars (present in 31.5% of post‐flood images). Other heavy vehicles are readily observed in post‐flood imagery and furniture such as bins, garden sheds or water tanks also appear occasionally, therefore suggesting that they can play a relevant role in extreme floods.

Background Patients with schizophrenia die decades earlier than the general population. Among the factors involved in this mortality gap, evidence suggests a telomere length shortening in this clinical population, which is associated with premature ageing. Recent studies support the use of strength-based training exercise programmes to maintain, or even elongate, telomere length in healthy elderly populations. However, studies aiming at modifying telomere length in severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, are still very scarce. Aims To investigate the effect of a strength-based physical exercise programme on the telomere length of individuals with schizophrenia. Method We propose a pragmatic, randomised controlled trial including 40 patients aged ≥18 years, with a stable diagnosis of schizophrenia, attending the Complejo de Rehabilitación Psicosocial (CRPS, Psychosocial Rehabilitation Centre) in Salamanca, Spain. These patients will be randomly assigned (1:1) to either receive the usual treatment and rehabilitation programmes offered by CRPS (treatment-as-usual group) or these plus twice weekly sessions of an evidence-based, strength-based training exercise programme for 12 weeks (intervention group). The primary outcome will be effect on telomere length. Secondary outcomes will include impact on cognitive function, frailty and quality of life. Results We expect to show the importance of implementing strength-based physical exercise programmes for patients with schizophrenia. We could find that such programmes induce biological and genetic changes that may lengthen life expectancy and decrease physical fragility. Conclusions We anticipate that our trial findings could contribute to parity of esteem for mental health, reducing premature ageing in patients with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia.

El objetivo del estudio es ofrecer una revisión crítica, de alcance y límites de contenidos, sobre el desarrollo de la economía conductual, con atención a los aportes iberoamericanos para superar los sesgos de la Síntesis Neoclásica y rehumanizar así el estudio de la economía, por lo que se desarrolló un estudio bibliométrico en la base de datos Scopus comprendiendo más de un millar de artículos relacionados a la economía conductual. Con los metadatos obtenidos se ha realizado un análisis descriptivo, más mapas bibliométricos mediante el software VosViewer, para presentar las conexiones temáticas. Así se puede evidenciar que existe una tendencia creciente en la producción científica en este campo, y que Estados Unidos, Alemania y Reino Unido son los países que la lideran con un mayor número de investigaciones y de mayor impacto, influyendo en los desarrollos teóricos y aplicados. Las investigaciones más citadas están enfocadas en la generación de conocimiento científico que contribuya a alcanzar objetivos de interés social, que es precisamente donde la economía conductual debe transitar a fin de conseguir una economía más humana. Existe una incipiente participación de investigadores de los países latinoamericanos, en especial en revistas de calificación Scopus Q1, lo que puede suponer un avance en innovación que podría traducirse en un cambio paradigmático, si desde los gobiernos y diseñadores de política pública se busca una economía menos centrada en la producción y crecimiento del PIB, y más bien focalizada en la satisfacción humana.

En el presente artículo se abordan los diversos cambios socioeconómicos que emanan del proceso de internacionalización. El propósito radica en demostrar y argumentar el potencial de las pequeñas y medianas empresas (PYMEs), las cuales ostentan una ventaja inherente a su flexibilidad, intrínseca a su tamaño. A través de un análisis empírico apoyado en los datos proporcionados por el Ministerio de Industria español, el presente documento ofrece una visión pragmática del estado económico de las entidades empresariales españolas. Globalmente, se contabilizan 3.000.000 de compañías que conllevan la generación de 11.000.000 de puestos de trabajo, mientras que un conjunto de 5.400 empresas de gran envergadura (con más de 250 empleados) aportan por sí solas más de 6.000.000 de empleos. Esto se traduce en un promedio de 3,7 empleados por PYME, en contraposición a los 1.111,5 empleados por empresa de gran tamaño. Los hallazgos de la investigación revelan que en la actualidad son escasas las empresas que han procurado mitigar su dependencia de los mercados locales. Asimismo, confirman que las empresas que experimentan un crecimiento económico tienen un impacto significativo tanto a nivel regional como internacional. Este efecto es particularmente notable en aquellas empresas que invierten en investigación y análisis del mercado. Se evidencia que una empresa crece en tamaño, sus ingresos también aumentan proporcionalmente, destaca que las empresas que se dedican a la exportación o que están internacionalizadas tienden a ser más grandes y productivas en comparación con aquellas que no participan en actividades de exportación.

The objective of this study was to investigate the impact of co-fermentation of Italia and Negra Criolla grape musts using non-Saccharomyces yeast strains (NSYSs) isolated from both grape varieties, on the major volatile compounds and sensory characteristics of Piscos (distilled spirits). Native NSYSs previously isolated from Italia (Pichia terricola, Metschnikowia pulcherrima, and Naganishia vaughanmartiniae) and Negra Criolla (Vishniacozyma carnescens, Vishniacozyma heimaeyensis, and Aureobasidium pullulans) grapes’ skins were inoculated at the beginning of grape must fermentation. A centroid simplex design was applied in order to obtain 10 representative yeast blends for use as mono- (n = 3), bi- (n = 3), and ternary (n = 4) inoculations. Additionally, a control sample without inoculum was also set up. For each yeast blend, the volatile composition and sensory characteristics of Piscos were evaluated. Results showed that mono-inoculation using specific NSYSs, such as P. terricola, M. pulcherrima, and N. vaughanmartiniae, led to a notable predominance of some terpenes such as α-terpineol, citronerol, and geraniol in Pisco from Italia grapes compared to the control Pisco. Conversely, in Pisco from Negra Criolla grapes, where V. carnescens, V. heimaeyensis, and A. pullulans were used in a similar mono-inoculation process, a higher presence of phenylethyl alcohol and 2-phenylethyl acetate compared to the control was observed. The sensory analysis revealed that citrus, floral, alcohol, and syrup descriptors had a higher intensity in mono-inoculated Pisco Italia, whereas spice, herbaceous, and cooked vegetable descriptors had the highest intensity in Negra Criolla Piscos produced with ternary NSYS inoculum inoculations. This study demonstrates that the use of native non-Saccharomyces yeast strains in the co-fermentation of grape musts can significantly influence the volatile profile and sensory characteristics of Pisco. These findings will allow us to establish new inoculation strategies to impact the overall sensory and aromatic profile of the Piscos produced with different grape varieties.

En este trabajo, se hace un análisis de la dimensión económica de la Escuela de Salamanca, para evaluar su condición de escuela de pensamiento económico y por qué la visión mainstream u ortodoxa suele omitirla. También se estudia su herencia y relación con otras escuelas, especialmente, las consideradas escuelas heterodoxas, que conforman la visión mainline o de fundamentos. Gracias a la Escuela de Salamanca, como Escuela Económica Española, es posible entender el tránsito de la economía moral a la economía política y el despertar de la teoría económica de vocación universal.

Este artículo de revisión es un estudio heterodoxo de Historia Económica y del Pensamiento Económico y de sus Instituciones, así como de Economía Pública, para evaluar el desarrollo de la producción científicoacadémica sobre el turismo en el seno de la Unión Europea. Resulta que la producción científico-académica de los últimos diez años (2013-23, según Scopus) ha coincidido con la salida de dos grandes recesiones, como la Gran Recesión de 2008 y la de COVID-19. Si la Gran Recesión de 2008 supuso la búsqueda de una nueva narrativa de reintegración europea, la producción científico-académica se sincronizó con los discursos oficiales y sin una revisión paradigmática desde los microfundamentos económicos, se impulsó una propuesta política de sostenibilidad y crecimiento verde de corte neokeynesiano. Con la crisis de COVID-19, la producción científico-académica se alineó con el marco del Pacto Verde, de influjo neo y poskeynesiano, impulsándose un decrecimiento verde, afectándose así sensiblemente al sector turístico. En vez de estimularse uno de los principales motores económicos europeos (el turismo supone más del 10% de su PIB), promoviéndose su digitalización, se le han puesto más barreras verdes y se pretende su sustitución por una industria verde, que ha empezado a afectar ya al turismo rural y cultural de la Economía Naranja. Frente a tal posición, asumida por el Pacto Verde Europeo, se ofrecen aquí alternativas heterodoxas de fundamentos (austriacos y neoinstitucionalistas, sobre todo), focalizándose en el fomento de estrategia de digitalización y talento en el sector turístico, para ofrecer ágiles experiencias personalizadas de Economía del conocimiento e innovación.
