This paper uncovers a hitherto unnoticed pattern of communal segregation among establishments located in some of Delhi's most important bazars. It demonstrates that this pattern, emerging between 1913 and 1932, was driven by structural features of the ways in which Delhi's trade and retail interacted with communal violence in the 1920s. Those features include the dislocating effects of communal violence on bazars. More strident political activity by merchants, however, was important fuel to this fire. Merchants did not, also, restrict themselves to repeating communal tropes developed elsewhere. Their self-organisation gave shape to a conception of 'Hindu' and 'Muslim' trades. Rather than see a communal 'pre-Partition' in the 1930s, this evidence suggests that communal segregation was already well on the rise in the 1920s. Business as usual, then, was a source of deepening communal antagonisms rather than, as is sometimes assumed, a source of everyday bonhomie. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hyperspectral imaging technology has been used for biochemical analysis of Earth's surface exploiting the spectral reflectance signatures of various materials. The new-generation Italian PRISMA (PRecursore IperSpettrale dellaMissione Applicativa) hyperspectral satellite launched by the Italian space agency (ASI) provides a unique opportunity to map various materials through spectral signature analysis for recourse management and sustainable development. In this study PRISMA hyperspectral satellite imagery–based multiple spectral indices were generated for rapid pollution assessment at Ghazipur and Okhla landfill sites in Delhi, India. It was found that the combined risk score for Okhla landfill site was higher than the Ghazipur landfill site. Various manmade materials identified, exploiting the hyperspectral imagery and spectral signature libraries, indicated presence of highly saline water, plastic (black, ABS, pipe, netting, etc.), asphalt tar, black tar paper, kerogen BK-Cornell, black paint and graphite, chalcocite minerals, etc. in large quantities in both the landfill sites. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to investigate physicians' perceptions of e-consultation adoption, which has the potential to bridge existing gaps in the current health-care system, using the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2) framework. Design/methodology/approach: The judgemental sampling method was embraced to collect primary data from 337 physicians from Delhi-National Capital Region who had experience with e-consultation. A number of hypotheses was developed and tested using structural equation model based on UTAUT2. Findings: The study's findings revealed an affirmative and significant relation between a physician's intention to embrace e-consultation and facilitating conditions, effort expectancy, social influence and performance expectancy; however, habit and experience are not significantly linked to it. Originality/value: This study will not only add to the existing body of knowledge about e-consultation adoption, but it will also assist electronic health service providers in devising strategies to encourage the usage of e-consultation services in emerging economies such as India where people are deprived of the right to access better health care due to lack of physical infrastructure. The paper describes the emergence of multiple economies of water in India's capital Delhi, using a neo-Polanyian approach of instituted economic process. It analyses the systems of provision, distribution, appropriation and consumption of water, and the formation of scales of these economies of water. The paper systematically compares and analyses the spatially divided and partially overlapping economies of water in the planned colonies and slum-designated areas in the city. Teenage is the phase of multiple transitions which involve biological as well as psychological changes. G Stanley Hall referred to this age category as 'storm and stress' because of the difficulties and disturbances associated with it. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought an unprecedented challenge for teenagers, adding to their woes. Sudden lockdown, school closure, confinement at home, and other challenges brought an entirely different set of areas of concern for them. Based on the empirical findings, this paper has attempted to explore and understand the challenges faced by adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic concerning the changes that occurred in their daily lives. It is based on the data collected through an online questionnaire from 127 teenagers and in-depth interviews with 11 school-going students from Delhi. The domains studied are changes and challenges at the levels of health, well-being, studies, exams, career anxieties, familial relations, and changing dynamics of relationships with schoolmates and peers. It also tries to understand responses and resilience among teenagers during the lockdown period. This research paper explores the economic, environmental, and socio-cultural sustainability of Delhi heritage tourism development from the perspective of tourists. Primary research was conductedamong the touristsbased on a structured questionnaire survey executed at various tourist places across Delhi. This research paper used exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and structural equation modelling (SEM) for exploring the sustainability of Delhi heritage tourism. The research findingson environmental pressure confirm that tourism activities are inflicting pressure on the environment. The environment management mechanisms implemented by the government have notbeen successfulin mitigating the adverse impact of tourism and accomplishing environmental sustainability. The findings on economic and cultural empowerment demonstrate that tourism ensures economic sustainability. However, the research findings on socio-cultural pressure reveal that tourism is exerting adverse impact on society and culture. Thus, the heritage tourism development inDelhi has not been encouragingeconomic and social sustainability. The 2013 recriminalization of homosexuality in India after the Delhi High Court had read down the anti-sodomy law in 2009. The verdict cannot be simplistically seen as a backward move. To say that it moves the country backwards or that the country is going back in time because of the said step is to fall into the trap of heteronormative prioritization. The recriminalization of homosexuality has to be seen as a violent erasure and disabling of queer narrativization of time in India. This paper presents an analysis of Sudhanshu Saria's film, Loev (2015) to examine how queer citizen-subjects navigate the politics of invisibilization and hyper-visibilization in post-2013 India. The paper proposes the lens of Probability to examine the queer experience of how 'now' is occupied differently by way of structures of ambiguity. Probability can be said to be the space of slippages where heteronormative performances are used to temporarily and repeatedly hoodwink society to make possible a queer 'now'. Purpose: This study examines changes in customer service encounter patterns in response to the COVID-19 pandemic during stays at hotels. The study re-visits the hotel services delivery process and examines how the hotel service blueprint has been re-framed. Design/methodology/approach: The study implemented an exploratory and qualitative research design to identify changes in customer service encounters and the hotel service delivery process. The research applied a cross-sectional survey-based design, which involved open-ended and closed interview questions with hoteliers in the Delhi/NCR region. Findings: The study identified an increase in contactless service during the service delivery process and in customer service encounters while staying at hotels. In so doing, the various service touchpoints in hotels need to transition from personalized service to contactless service encounters such as at check-in and payment, contactless room key access with available and accessible hand sanitizers, masks, room purifiers, automated room cleaning machines and the deployment of other smart artificial intelligence-based technologies. Practical implications: This paper profiles a revised service blueprint model for hotels, which could assist hotel service managers to address potential sources of customer dissatisfaction and service failure during the COVID-19 pandemic. Purpose: This paper aims to examine new housekeeping procedures introduced in response to COVID-19. The pandemic has required hotels to reassess their standard operating procedures, especially in housekeeping to retain the confidence of guests in the hotel/brand via high standards of sanitization, hygiene and the maintenance of social distancing. Design/methodology/approach: The article draws on publications and announcements made by major brands and associations about their updated standards of cleaning, hygiene and sanitisation, social distancing and workplace protocols arising from the pandemic. Further, a survey was used to determine the impact of new processes on housekeeping teams and their perceptions of its effect on service quality, guests and employee safety. Findings: Some key new processes are: keeping the hotel room vacant for several hours after departure, the sanitisation of every room, cleaning and sanitisation of high touch points, linen and waste management and low frequency or complete avoidance of the cleaning of occupied rooms. The survey questionnaire establishes that housekeepers value their new standard operating procedures (SOPs) and agree that "clinically clean" is the new normal and essential to avoid cross-contamination and keep guests and employees safe. Research limitations/implications: As the pandemic is a current phenomenon, the guidelines and protocols are rapidly evolving. Hotels are innovating and looking for new processes to manage infection control. This study has mainly focused on cleanliness and hygiene protocols and procedures prevalent in the industry. Currently, future work could be useful to evaluate the long-term impact of COVID-19 on the new processes and procedures that have been deployed. Practical implications: In order to recover from the pandemic, the Indian hotel industry faces a colossal task. Even when the virus peaks have passed and hotels can safely reopen, the fear of infection will continue and so guest trust and confidence is essential. Given this, the paper should be of interest to hoteliers and policymakers seeking to implement the best possible post COVID-19 housekeeping practices. In the vision of modernity, older religious sites that imparted education have been replaced with the University as the new temple of learning. These 'temples' house countless dreams of finding and fulfilling one's potentialities and securing a prosperous future. In a highly iniquitous society, the University is singularly invested with the objective of enabling access to success and a life of dignity via education. Yet, in reality, the space is highly fraught for students coming from socially disadvantaged backgrounds. The paper employs the psychoanalytic perspective to understand the complex interplay of the social divisions of caste hierarchy operating within the context of the University. Using a case vignette and everyday observations set in a Department of Psychology in a University in Delhi, the paper explores the unconscious anxieties and defences that circulate among students and teachers unwittingly promoting forms of othering. Understanding these defences is crucial for deconstructing the resistance to learning that comes from different caste locations and for actualizing the vision of emancipatory education. This paper brings out the effect of movie piracy on legitimate sales of the movies in the Indian context. The paper becomes much more relevant when internet and streaming services are very much common these days. Based on the survey of 500 undergraduates students of university of Delhi, the paper finds that first, one unit of unpaid movie viewing displaces about 0.35 units of paid (first) movie viewings. Second, due to presence of "sampling effect" one unit of unpaid (first) movie viewing increases second paid viewings by 0.1 units. Thus, we find support for incomplete displacement, that is, a displacement rate less than one‐for‐one. Third, these displacements rates are causing an estimated 6.2% loss in sales of movies based on back‐of‐ envelope‐calculation. The number of lost movie sales are 6,3123,667 and approximately Rs 12 billion in Indian rupees as revenue lost due to movie piracy in the year 2019. The emergence of on-demand domestic work sectors in cities across the world has been called the 'Uber-isation of domestic work'. In India, the sector and its surrounding hype was short-lived as some of the country's key on-demand domestic work providers were unable to maintain sufficient profit margins and were forced to change their models or shut down altogether. This paper examines the rise and fall of the on-demand domestic work sector in urban India, drawing on 22 interviews and 2 focus groups with 32 women domestic workers across Delhi and its surrounding National Capital Region (NCR), and 2 interviews with experts in Delhi and Mumbai. Through these narratives, the paper reveals the factors which govern the failure and absence of the sector. Using Uber as a heuristic, the paper unsettles the concept of 'Uber-isation' as a universally applicable framework to understand platform economy activities, exposing the intersectional gender and class assumptions built into this conceptualisation. It argues that the techno-masculinist logics of on-demand domestic work platforms, which are built into the attempt to 'Uber-ise', have disregarded the socio-spatial relations of the city. An empirical case of what Leszczynski has called 'glitch as surprise', when the platform economy unexpectedly fails to manifest, this case reminds us that the city, rather than a simple site of economic practice, is socially reproduced. The purpose of this paper is to explore the perception of Indian college students in context of the reasons for the choice of being an entrepreneur and the deterrents faced by them in achieving their entrepreneurial aspirations. The study aimed at understanding the preparedness of higher education institutions in the area of Delhi and NCR, India in fostering entrepreneurship education. The purpose of the paper was also to suggest suitable measures in improvising the education system to foster entrepreneurship education. The study is an exploratory study. Semi structured interviews were conducted and the data was transcribed, coded and the emerging themes are discussed in the paper. The sample comprised of 50 national and international undergraduate students from three public and one private university in Delhi & NCR. Out of 50, 39 were Indian while 11 were International Students. The interviews were tape-recorded, coded and the emerging themes are discussed. Results indicated the lack of preparedness by Higher Education Institutions in addressing the needs of both National as well as International students studying in both Public and Private Universities in India. The article focuses on the state of information science and scientometrics (ISS) analysis studies in India from 2005-2009. The author's study focused on analyzing bibliographic details of documents on ISS, which were obtained from the 2005-2009 issues of the journal "Indian Science Abstracts." He found that journals were the most important of publication in information science and scientometrics and that there was a strong trend of multi-authored papers during the given period. He also revealed that Karnataka was the source of majority of the papers on ISS with Tamil Nadu and Delhi trailing behind.

The economic implications of biopolitics – or the administration, regulation, and control of life – have received significant attention in recent geographical and cognate scholarship. An emerging theme of inquiry, largely focused on the Global North, makes contributions to specifying 'lively capital', defined here as bodily value in motion – predicated on accumulation from other‐than‐human life. In this paper, we argue that the biopolitical process of bringing life into the ambit of capital works in cultural, political, and economic registers and not just through singular logics of the economic, as extant accounts have implied. The rendition of life into capital through modes of biopower is not a universal process. It has diverging trajectories that, in postcolonial contexts, involve hybrids between biopolitical and vernacular practices. This argument is made through an account of bovine biopolitics in urban Delhi with specific reference to the city's 'cattle problem' involving 'surplus' animals. It unfolds in four distinct parts. First, drawing on archival work, we trace colonial histories of cattle improvement to reveal how the category of 'surplus' was invented. Second, we deploy more‐than‐human ethnographies of free‐ranging animals in Delhi to foreground how 'surplus' cattle – which we conceptualise as 'living waste' – are driven to feed on waste as a result of gentrification and the enclosure of erstwhile grazing grounds. Third, we turn to gaushalas (cow shelters) in Delhi to show how 'surplus' cattle from the city's streets are rehomed and managed. Fourth, we examine the uneven practices of care afforded to different bovines based on logics associated with right‐wing Hindutva nationalism. Our account provincialises lively capital by opening up more nuanced and situated understandings of the relations between biopolitics and capitalism, attentive to divergences from models situated in Western modernity. The chances of reform or rehabilitation of the accused is one of the important mitigating circumstances in criminal sentencing. In Bachan Singh v State of Punjab (AIR 1980 SC), the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of death penalty in India. However, the Court restricted it to Rarest of Rare cases. The Court said that a balance sheet of aggravating and mitigating circumstances is to be prepared and due regard must be given to the chances of reform/rehabilitation as a mitigating circumstance. This paper revolves around the central theme of chances of reform as a mitigating circumstance in death penalty cases and the procedures followed by the Courts to determine the same. Since the Bachan Singh judgment, it has been noticed in several cases on death penalty that the Supreme Court has either accepted or rejected the chances of reform without conducting any due inquiry on the reformative potential of the convict. This raises a serious question on the fairness of procedure under Articles 14 and 21 of the Constitution as these two Articles also applies at the stage of sentencing. However, in some of the recent judgments of the Supreme Court and of the Delhi High Court, as a course correction exercise, some guidelines and procedures have been laid down to determine the chances of reform as a mitigating circumstance. The Courts have admitted that the task of determination of reform has not attracted serious attention of the sentencing courts in the past. Under the procedures evolved, the responsibility has been entrusted upon the Probation Officer under Probation of Offenders Act, 1958 to determine the same. Regression Tree (RT) and K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) models play significant roles in machine learning. RT facilitates interpretable decision-making, aiding in the comprehension of complex data relationships, while KNN is valued for its simplicity, adaptability to non-linear data, and robustness to noise, making it a versatile tool across various applications. The primary drawback of Regression Tree is its tendency to assign the same predicted value (average value) to all tuples satisfying the same corresponding splitting criterion. K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) is sensitive to irrelevant or redundant features since all features contribute to similarity. This paper proposes a hybrid regression model based on Regression Tree (RT) and KNN, addressing the aforementioned issues. The model's performance is compared with KNN using 10 types of distance measures and further assessed against RT, KNearest Neighbor regression (KNN), and Support Vector Regression (SVR) through a Monte Carlo simulation study. Simulation results indicate that the hybrid model outperforms all other regression models, regardless of sample size, when observations follow normal distributions or t-distributions. This paper analyzed the price dynamics and volatility among tomato-producing (Solan and Ludhiana) and consuming (Delhi and Bangalore) markets using monthly price data from April 2005 to March 2023. The Cudda Della-Valle index and seasonality index were used to assess the price dynamics of the tomato market. Correlation analysis, Regression analysis, Vector Error Correction Model, and Granger causality were used to analyze the market integration. The GARCH model is used to measure the price volatility in the selected markets. Results showed that the maximum instability in tomato prices was in May (53 to 77 %), and the seasonality index showed that farmers received more than average prices between July and November. The significance of the Engle-Granger tau-statistic revealed that all the selected markets were well integrated into the long run. The speed of adjustment was highest in the Delhi market (56 %) followed by Bangalore (55 %) and Solan (27 %). The Bangalore market was the key market that influenced the price of all other markets by the Granger Causality test. Further, GARCH (1,1) model is used to estimate price volatility in the selected market. The price volatility was high in the Solan market and low in all the selected markets. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Vehicular Ad-hoc NETworks (VANETs) is an important research domain as it deals with the safety of vehicles moving on roads. The selection of the most prominent routing protocol in this field is a challenging job due to the high mobility rate of VANETs. The foremost motive for writing this paper is to recognize the most suitable protocol that can be used for a high-density traffic region. Therefore, the evaluation of six popular routing protocols (AODV, DSDV, DSR, GPSR, OLSR, and ZRP) of VANETs is examined in the congested city of Delhi. For this, a methodology is being presented that explains the creation of a network using the SUMO tool and assigning a trip and route to the obtained network through the Origin-Destination matrix. Then, by adopting the created network file, the TCL File and NAM File are generated using the NS-2. Finally, selected protocols' performance is examined and evaluated based on the metrics such as Throughput, Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), Delay, Packet Loss Ratio (PLR), and Routing Overhead. The results showed that the AODV protocol acts as an appropriate routing protocol and could perform better with our presented approach. Also, the comparison is conducted with the results obtained for the AODV routing protocol using the presented approach and the existing approaches. The comparison results depict that the AODV routing protocol presents much better results by using the presented methodology than by using the existing methods in terms of throughput, delay, and PDR. "Independent" sex work outside red light areas in big cities in developing countries is an understudied phenomenon. Through a survey of independent sex workers in Delhi, India, this paper sheds light on the governance of independent prostitution. It shows that in the sex work industry, which is informal in nature and faces a complex legal architecture, regulatory intermediaries (RIs) drive both regulation and responsibilization strategies. On behalf of the state, the police act as regulatory intermediaries, implementing hierarchical regulation. In red light areas, sex workers' collectives and solidarity networks operate as RIs on behalf of workers. But in independent sex work, it is pimps who act as intermediaries for workers, driving their responsibilization strategies. Independent sex workers take up the services of pimps even though they charge hefty fees, in large part because pimps can negotiate their protection from the police. I examine several characteristics of the relationships between prostitutes, pimps, clients, and the police, and refine the RIT model of regulatory intermediaries (Abbott et al. 2017) in the context of prostitution in a developing country. Air pollution is one of the significant environmental issues. It can cause adverse health effects such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and high mortality rates. High population density is a huge contributory factor of air pollution in cities and urbanized areas. Other sources of air pollution are transport, local heating, and possibly a pollution transfer from neighboring industrial regions. Information about the opening and closing of industrial plants, stubble burning, and fireworks can be considered an added value to this work. In recent past years, among the Delhi/National Capital Region. The pollution level has been raised multiple times during November and March months. The most significant root cause of this trouble is stubble-burning air pollution in the neighboring cities like Punjab and Haryana. Another concern is the burning of fireworks in these months due to Diwali and other festivals in the cities. This research paper aims to perform a data-based analysis on the PM2.5 and PM10 concentration levels of the past six years month-wise from the authenticated sources to find out the causes of extreme air pollution levels. This research paper deals mainly with long-term time series, including air pollutants PM2.5, PM10, and other meteorological variables. It models and analyzes the PM2.5 and PM10 values for 2014–2018. The present research work also deals with the facts and methods to handle the high air pollution rate in Delhi/NCR caused by stubble burning and analysis the effect on the environment by the call of Honorable Prime Minister of India Shri Narender Modi Ji for the illusion of candles as a symbolic fight against COVID 19. This paper is an analysis of the subjective well-being of women relative to men in low-income urban households in India. Education and employment are pathways to greater financial well-being which is presumably of great salience to poor populations. However, either or both of these may increase aspirations. The social norms that restrict the autonomy of women may mute the impact of education and employment in a way that does not happen to men. To address this hypothesis, the paper uses primary data from a survey of over 1000 respondents across slums in Delhi. The paper finds that education and employment does reduce the well-being of women relative to men. We show that these gender varying correlations are robust to omitted variables bias. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to determine the socio-economic factors related to household solid waste generation and its type based on field surveys in South Delhi Municipal Corporation area in Delhi, India. Design/methodology/approach: This paper develops a framework to systematically identify the socio-economic factors related to household waste generation and its type. The framework uses both primary and secondary data. The primary data are collected through the instruments of questionnaire and interviews, and the secondary data are collected from the literature available in public domain. Multinomial logistic models are developed. The models are analyzed using the SPSS software version 22.0. Findings: The study reports that socio-economic parameters like monthly income of the family, number of family members, occupation, education are statistically significant predictors. Further, detailed disaggregated models reveal more insights that are not apparent otherwise, such as the number of females can also be a significant factor for a targeted socio-economic group. Practical implications: The results can help in forecasting the resource requirement for waste collection, establishment of processing facilities and other policy planning measures for effective waste management, as summarized in the discussion. Originality/value: A systematic process to determine resource requirement according to socio-economic (and consequently spatial) group constitute an important component of the novelty of this study. Further, it provides new insights on the role of various socio-economic factors in determining the quantity and composition of household waste, e.g. quantity and type of waste can also be affected by male and female qualification within a socio-economic category. The paper surveys the central university libraries of Delhi and NCR to find out web enabled information services facilitated through their websites and rank them also. National Institute ranking Framework (NIRF ranking 2017) was used to select the central university libraries of Delhi and NCR. There are only three central university libraries of Delhi & NCR in the top hundred universities in NIRF 2017. The content analysis of the websites of the selected university libraries and the review of the literature was used to examine the various information services provided by them and select some common services for the study. A checklist of components to be studied for selected web enabled information services was prepared through review of literature. The study included eight information services from the patrons' point of view (i.e beneficial for the patrons). The findings revealed that many web enabled information services are being facilitated through their interactive websites. Jawaharlal Nehru university library is on the first rank in the provision of web enabled information services under study. It is followed by Jamia Millia Islamia university library. University of Delhi Library is last in rank and providing less than the mean percentage of web enabled information services under study. The paper offers a comparative synopsis of the provision of web enabled information services in the central university libraries of Delhi and NCR. This paper was prompted by the discovery of three dozen portrait drawings by an anonymous Indian artist in Old Delhi's Chandni Chowk market. Some portraits, drawn in black pen and ink on paper and dating from around 1830, are framed by a caption, written in Devanagari script, apparently describing prominent figures in the Mughal court, following the British conquest of Delhi (1803). The first section focuses on the translated script of the captions around the portraits and provides some historical context to identify the subjects portrayed. It focuses on who they are. It also situates the portraits in relation to 'Company School' painting, i.e. work by eighteenth-/early nineteenth-century Indian artists adjusting their styles to paint subjects appealing to British (and European) taste. Attention shifts to portraits of British officials, possibly including Sir David Ochterlony, first Resident at the Mughal Court, 1803–06, and again, 1818–22, and Charles Metcalfe, 1811–18. The paper draws attention to the ways in which the artist distinguishes between Asian and European subjects, simultaneously coming to terms with the challenges of representing unfamiliar European ethnicities. Art collectives come into existence for many reasons, whether to collaborate on art making or to generate a space for contemporary art outside of the established channels of exhibition and the art market. These efforts have been captured in recent exhibitions such as The Ungovernables, organized by the New Museum in 2012; Six Lines of Flight, which was launched at SFMOMA in 2013; and Cosmopolis I, organized by the Centre Pompidou in 2017. Artist collectives have received some scholarly attention, primarily as producers of artworks, but their exhibition-making practices have not been explored. Some of the collectives included in these exhibitions have also been very involved in exhibition making themselves. The Indonesian art collective ruangrupa was selected to curate the 2022 edition of documenta. This selection emerges not only from their participation in international biennials and their own exhibition practice in Jakarta—including the organization of regular exhibitions, workshops and film screenings at their compound—but also more ambitions events such as Jakarta 32 °C, a festival of contemporary art and media (2004–2014), or O.K. Video (2006–2018). Another group, the Raqs Media Collective, based in Delhi, curated the Shanghai Bienniale in 2016 and the Yokohama Trienniale in 2020. Forecasting of PM2.5 concentration is a global concern. Evidence has shown that the ambient PM2.5 concentrations are harmful to human health, climate change, plant species mortality, etc. PM2.5 concentrations are caused by natural and anthropogenic activities, and it is challenging to predict them due to many uncertain factors. Current research has focused on developing a new model while overlooking the fact that every single model for PM2.5 prediction has its own strengths and weaknesses. This paper proposes an ensemble framework which combines four diverse learning models for PM2.5 forecasting in Puli, Taiwan. It explores the synergy between parametric and non-parametric learning, and short-term and long-term learning. The feature set covers periodic, meteorological, and autoregression variables which are selected by a spiral validation process. The experimental dataset, spanning from 1 January 2008 to 31 December 2019, from Puli Township in central Taiwan, is used in this study. The experimental results show the proposed multi-model framework can synergize the advantages of the embedded models and obtain an improved forecasting result. Further, the benefit obtained by blending short-term learning with long-term learning is validated, in surpassing the performance obtained by using just single type of learning. Our multi-model framework compares favorably with deep-learning models on Puli dataset. Punjabi singers produced music in support of the farmers and took on-the-ground initiatives to join the protests alongside protesters at the Delhi border and in local protests. This paper analyzes Punjabi Sikh uses of music throughout history and compares them to the music that emerged in the Farmers' Protests. This paper uses Serge Denisoff's criteria for protest music to cross-examine Punjabi protest music produced in various time periods. The Farmers' protest music and musician involvement in the protests is then scrutinized to understand its significance to the protests and to understand the relationship between Punjabi singers and their audiences. Implicit prejudice can be simply understood as any negative feelings or beliefs people hold towards a particular outgroup without being aware of it. One such form is microaggression, which can be defined as everyday verbal or nonverbal subtle, unconscious putdowns, slights, or negative remarks towards members of an outgroup. One of the most common and harmful forms is gender‐based microaggression. Gender microaggression is defined as subtle, unconscious, everyday putdowns, slights, remarks, or insults, whether intentional or unintentional, directed at a particular gender, notably women. Despite a plethora of literature and research on gender microaggression, the focus has predominantly been on understanding microaggressions faced by women in various domains, largely neglecting the experiences of men as victims of microaggression. One such overlooked experience is that of Afghan male students studying in universities in Delhi. Each year, thousands of students from Afghanistan travel to Delhi to pursue higher education, often unaware of the prejudices they may encounter due to associations with terms like 'terrorism' or 'terrorist.' Therefore, this paper aims to understand and study the microaggression faced by Afghan male students by employing the Gender Implicit Association Test on a sample of 103 Indian students studying in universities in Delhi, selected using a snowball sampling technique. This study adapts and modifies the Weapon‐based Implicit Association Test. The goal is to uncover the implicit biases of Indian students towards Afghan male students by examining the association (reaction time) between images of weapons and harmless objects, in conjunction with adjectives related to Afghan males and Afghan females. In other words, words or images that are congruent in our minds should result in shorter reaction times and fewer errors compared to words and images that are incongruent. The results indicate that Indian students were quicker in associating weapon images with Afghan male adjectives (D = −0.64) compared to Afghan female adjectives (D = 0.89). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article examines the conflict between press censorship and free speech in post-partition Delhi, focusing on the Urdu press. It demonstrates how conflicts over free speech became a focal point for the intersection of two fundamental tensions underlying postcolonial state formation—between civil liberties and the authoritarian legacy of colonial rule, and between a secular democracy and a religion-based partition. The article explores the Urdu refugee dailies that relocated from Lahore to Delhi amid the partition upheaval and emerged as significant media voicing refugees' interests, often at the expense of Muslim residents. Their provocative writings simultaneously challenged the boundaries of free speech and advanced an exclusionary notion of citizenship based on blood-based descent (jus sanguinis). This narrow conception of citizenship, underlying the partition migrations themselves, challenged the secularist vision of India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. In response, the Delhi administration took actions against the refugee papers, making them central to contemporary struggles over press censorship. By taking the state to court, refugee editors promoted citizens' right to free speech, but simultaneously advanced a circumscribed notion of ethno-religious citizenship. Delhi's need for pure water is growing with its growing population. Along with the need for drinking water, useful sewage treatment is much needed. Another immense problem that the city faces is air pollution that causes health problems to the local community mainly caused by energy traditional plants. The patent Natural Biological System (NBS) developed by Ayala Water and Ecology offered Delhi and many other locations around the globe a practical, on-site method for the simultaneous purification of soil, water, and air with a negative carbon footprint. The current paper describes how those systems were applied to the on-ground situation after an extensive environmental survey that was conducted to identify the needs and difficulties characterizing the city. A growing literature demonstrates the significance of aesthetics within processes of world‐class city making, as decisions about who gets to live and work in the city are increasingly made on the basis of codes of appearance. However, less attention has been paid to how such codes are (re)produced and (re)directed by informal workers and their organisations in everyday practice. Drawing upon a multisided ethnography in Kampala and Delhi, this paper explores the ways in which market vendors and waste collectors have responded to the proliferation of three aesthetic technologies: the identity card, the uniform, and the code of conduct. We show that workers have appropriated these technologies in creative ways in order to defend their livelihoods against the threat of displacement. However, this act of appropriation has come at the cost of the exclusion of the more vulnerable workers, who now find their activities policed not only by the state but also by a range of non‐state organisations. These findings contribute to debates on labour organisation and world‐class city making by demonstrating the ways in which aesthetic rationalities emerge through an encounter with the tactics of everyday life. Seasonal production, weather abnormalities, and high perishability introduce a high degree of volatility to potato prices. Price volatility is said to be asymmetric when positive and negative shocks of the same magnitude affect it in a dissimilar way. GARCH is a symmetric model, and it cannot capture asymmetric price volatility. EGARCH, APARCH, and GJR-GARCH models are popularly used to capture asymmetric price volatility. In this paper, an attempt is made to model the price volatility of the weekly wholesale modal price of potatoes for the Agra, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai markets using the above-mentioned models. The News Impact Curves (NICs) are derived from the fitted models, which confirmed the presence of asymmetry in the price volatility. Libraries in research institutions contribute to ensuring wider dissemination of the research outputs; support networking and reaching out to more readers; take up the important role of archiving research output and assist in enhancing the stature of the institution in the form of overall rankings of its research outputs like journals articles, working papers and so on. However, the importance of this segment of library services needs to be discussed, amplified, and brought to the forefront to showcase the importance of libraries in research institutions. The Indian capital megacity of Delhi is reeling under deteriorating air quality, and control measures are not yielding any significant changes, mainly due to a poor understanding of sources of emissions; hence, priority option in mitigation planning is lacking. In this paper, we have made an attempt to develop a spatially resolved technological high-resolution gridded (∼0.4km×0.4km) emission inventory for eight major pollutants of the Delhi region where high-resolution activity data of all possible major and unattended minor sources are generated by organizing a mega-campaign involving hundreds of volunteers. It is for the first time that we are able to estimate the decadal growth in emissions of various pollutants by comparing newly developed 2020 emissions with SAFAR (System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research) emissions of 2010 using the identical methodology and quantum of activity data. The estimated annual emissions for PM 2.5 , PM 10 , CO, NOx , VOC, SO2 , BC, and OC over the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) are estimated to be 123.8, 243.6, 799.0, 488.9, 730.0, 425.8, 33.6, and 20.3 Ggyr-1 , respectively, for the year 2020. The decadal growth (2010–2020) in PM 2.5 and PM 10 is found to be marginal at 31 % and 3 %, respectively. The maximum growth is found to be in the transport sector followed by the industrial and other sectors. Maximum decadal growth found for the pollutants BC, OC, and NOx is 57 %, 34 %, and 91 %, respectively. The decadal shift of sectorial emissions with changing policies is examined. The paper examines the attractiveness of graduates from Indian Polytechnics (PTs). The attractiveness is examined from the perspective of actors who have a demand for the graduates, namely companies and engineering colleges. To understand the reasons for their assessment of attractiveness, this study uses the concept of institutional logics (ILs) to unveil the inherent reasons behind the stakeholders' perception of attractiveness. To understand the stakeholders' ILs, interviews were undertaken in nine companies and 10 colleges in Mumbai and Delhi. The findings make clear that the companies' and colleges' assessments of the attractiveness of PT graduates are very different, reflecting their own ILs. Companies assess the attractiveness as limited due to the lack of employability of PT graduates. Cultural heritage is under tremendous pressure in the rapidly growing and transforming cities of the global south. Historic cities and towns are often faced with the dilemma of having to preserve old monuments while responding to the pressure of adapting itself to a modern lifestyle, which often results in the loss of cultural heritage. Indian cities such as Delhi possess a rich legacy of tangible heritage, traditions, and arts, which are reflected in their present urban form. The creation of temporal 3D models of such cities not only provides a platform with which one can experience the past, but also helps to understand, examine, and improve its present deteriorating state. However, gaining access to historical data to support the development of city-scale 3D models is a challenge. While data gaps can be bridged by combining multiple data sources, this process also presents considerable technical challenges. This paper provides a framework to generate LoD-2 (level-of-detail) 3D models of the present (the 2020s) and the past (the 1970s) of a heritage mosque surrounded by a dense and complex urban settlement in Shahjahanabad (Old Delhi) by combining multiple VHR (very high resolution) satellite images. The images used are those of Pleiades and Worldview-1 and -3 (for the present) and HEXAGON KH-9 declassified spy images (for the past). The chronological steps are used to extract the DSMs and DTMs that provide a base for the 3D models. The models are rendered, and the past and present are visualized using graphics and videos. The results reveal an average increase of 80% in the heights of the built structures around the main monument (mosque), leading to a loss in the visibility of this central mosque. The present paper investigates the location pattern of co-working spaces in Delhi which is absent in the existing body of knowledge. Delhi is a political, administrative, educational, scientific and innovation capital that accommodates many co-working spaces in India. We developed Ordinary least squares (OLS) and geographically weighted regression (GWR) models to understand the associations of co-working spaces of digital labourers with other urban socio-economic, services and lifestyle variables in Delhi using secondary data for 117 coworking locations in 280 municipal wards of NCT-Delhi. Model diagnostic suggested that the GWR model provides additional information regarding geographical distribution of coworking spaces, and density of bars, median house rent, fitness centres, metro train stations, restaurants, cinemas, cafés, and creative enterprises are statistically significant parameters to estimate them. The importance of coworking spaces has increased in the post-disaster period, so this study informs public policies to benefit people and companies who choose coworking routes, and recommends urban planners, developers, and real-estate professionals to consider the proximity of creative industries in planning and developing coworking spaces in the future. Also, in the post COVID-19 period, to increase local jobs and long-term place sustainability, a localised policy intervention for coworking spaces in Delhi is highly recommended. The first case of COVID‐19 in India detected on January 30, 2020, after its emergence in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. The lockdown was imposed as anemergency measure by the Indian government to prevent the spread of COVID‐19 but gradually eased out due to its vast economic consequences. Just 15 days after the relaxation of lockdown restrictions, Delhi became India's worst city in terms of COVID‐19 cases. In this paper, we propose a variable‐order fractional SIR (susceptible, infected, removed) model at state‐level scale. We introduce a algorithm that uses the differential evolution algorithm in combination with Adam–Bashforth–Moulton method to learn the parameters in a system of variable‐order fractional SIR model. The model can predict the confirm COVID‐19 cases in India considering the effects of nationwide lockdown and the possible estimate of the number of infliction inactive cases after the removal of lockdown on June 1, 2020. A new parameter p is introduced in the classical SIR model representing the fraction of infected people that get tested and are thereby quarantined. The COVID‐19 trajectory in Delhi, as per our model, predicts the slowing down of the spread between January and February 2021, touching a peak of around 5 lakh confirmed cases. In India, sandstone was broadly used to construct structures like Agra Fort, Red Fort Delhi, and Allahabad Fort. Around the world, many historical structures were collapsed due to the adverse effect of damages. Structural health monitoring (SHM) is very useful to take appropriate action against the failure of the structure. The electro-mechanical impedance (EMI) technique is used to continuously monitor the damage. A piezoelectric ceramic (PZT) is used in the EMI technique. PZT is a smart material used as a sensor or an actuator in a certain specific manner. The EMI technique work in the 30 to 400 kHz frequency range. This technique helped to analyze the hairline crack, location, and severity of damage to structural elements. A 10 cm length and 5 cm diameter sandstone cylinder was used in the experimental work. An electric marble cutter was used to create the artificial damages of 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, and 5 mm respectively along the length, at the same place in specimens. The conductance signature and susceptance signature were measured for each depth of damage. The comparative result of healthy and damaged state with different depth were concluded based on the conductance signature and susceptance signature form the sample. Statistical methods like root mean square deviation (RMSD) is used for the quantification of damage. The sustainability of sandstone has been analyzed with the help of the EMI technique and RMSD values. Purpose: Employee turnover, a reality that Indian retail organizations cannot ignore, is the central theme of this paper. The authors have aimed to empirically establish corporate social responsibility initiatives (CSRI) and transformational leadership (TL) as rather unconventional predictors that can potentially influence retail employees' intention to stay (ITS) through sequential mediation by employer branding (EB) and organizational identification (OI). Design/methodology/approach: Data collected using a structured questionnaire from three hundred and five frontline employees working with twenty-nine Indian retail outlets in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) region was tested using structural equation modelling. Findings: Findings confirmed the impact of both CSRI and TL on ITS, with sequential mediation by EB and OI. While OI partially mediated the effect of EB on ITS, TL exerted more influence than CSRI in enhancing EB. Originality/value: This study enhances retail literature by empirically testing a unique fusion of organization and individual-level predictors that influence ITS as an individual-level outcome. Advancement of mobile technologies has enabled economical collection, storage, processing, and sharing of traffic data. These data are made accessible to intended users through various application program interfaces (API) and can be used to recognize and mitigate congestion in real time. In this paper, quantitative (time of arrival) and qualitative (color-coded congestion levels) data were acquired from the Google traffic APIs. New parameters that reflect heterogeneous traffic conditions were defined and utilized for real-time control of traffic signals while maintaining the green-to-red time ratio. The proposed method utilizes a congestion-avoiding principle commonly used in computer networking. Adaptive congestion levels were observed on three different intersections of Delhi (India), in peak hours. It showed good variation, hence sensitive for the control algorithm to act efficiently. Also, simulation study establishes that proposed control algorithm decreases waiting time and congestion. Young caste‐class privileged gender justice workers in Delhi navigate several relations of power—with Euro‐American feminisms, and with less privileged feminisms and recipients of development work within India. Their experiences reveal that decolonial politics in India cannot be conceptualised without consideration of other axes of inequality including caste and religion. There is thus a need to broaden decolonial and intersectional analyses to include multiple spatial scales, from the transnational to the most granular interpretations of the local. By bringing intersectional analyses into greater dialogue with postcolonial feminist theory, this paper demonstrates that patterns of "outsourcing patriarchy" are observable at many scales, and that these patterns at different scales are co‐produced, each in turn shaping the other. Such a framework also explains how young caste‐class privileged gender justice workers outsource patriarchy and reproduce "mainstream" feminisms even as they seek to avoid doing so. This systematic review and meta-analysis sought to evaluate the acceptability levels for COVID vaccine(s) in various states in India. Published articles in PubMed/Scopus/Cochrane/DOAJ/the Web of Science that focused on assessing COVID-19 vaccine hesitation/vaccine acceptance using a survey/questionnaire were included. After extensive research, 524 records were found, and after screening on the basis of eligibility criteria, only 23 papers were added to this review. Increased vaccine assumption percentage (>70%) among the population was found in two surveys nationwide (92.8%) and in Delhi (79.5%). For pooled estimates of COVID-19 vaccine acceptance and heterogeneity, twenty-three studies (23) consisting of 39,567 individuals reported for acceptance of COVID 19 vaccine in India.. Out of these, 26,028 individuals accepted the COVID-19 vaccine, giving a pooled estimate of 62.6% (95% CI: 55.6–69.4) with considerable heterogeneity (χ2 = 3397.3, p < 0.0001; I2 = 99.40%). The results of this study give a brief insight into the percentage acceptance and hesitancy among the Indian population regarding COVID-19 vaccine immunisation. A nearby construction with a pile foundation in an urban area can cause possible damage or an operational safety concern to the existing tunnels. The response of the tunnel will depend on the relative location of pile tip as compared to the existing tunnel depth. This paper describes an experimental investigation carried out in the laboratory to examine the effect of pile loading on the existing tunnel in Delhi silt. A small-scale testing facility was designed and built to investigate the influence of pile loading in the close vicinity of the existing tunnel. Dimensions of the model tunnel and pile were arrived at based on the physical scaling laws. The model tunnel (outer diameter of 150 mm with thickness of 0.5 mm) and piles (outer diameter of 25.4 mm with thickness of 1.0 mm) are made up of aluminum. Tests were carried out in a fabricated model steel tank (1,100 mm wide, 1,600 mm long, and 1,200 m deep). Experiments were performed at various stages of pile loading at a separation distance of 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 times the tunnel diameter from its axis. Results indicate that the strain in tunnel lining is significantly affected by various stages of pile loading when the row of pile is placed within the distance of 12 times the pile diameter from the axis of the tunnel. Women invest more time in beauty, fashion, cosmetics, dressing patterns, fitness and other stuffs, to just impress men, rather men do less, have focused on career and money making process. This deceit illustration making society to except it like this way, however it is largely bogus. Several types of Crime against women are already deeply rotten in Indian society, presently a horrifying menace of acid attacks on women has been disturbing social order. The large number of acid attacks on women in India is growing in every passing year. The latest data released by ‘India Today Data Intelligence Unit’ has exposed that between 2014 and 2018 there are approx 1,483 victims of acid in the country. It also reveals that the huge number of reported cases are; due to relationship breakups, one side love, romance refusal, rejection of marriage proposal and physical intimacy, jealousy, family property disputes, and marital disengagement. This paper will try to explore scenario of acid attacks on women in Delhi.
