Most scholarly attention within sport management leadership research has focused on four main leadership theories: authentic, servant, transactional, and transformational. While recent research included the social construction of leadership and a call to explore more follower-centric aspects of leadership, little empirical research has focused on how leaders develop, or more succinctly -- leader development. Much of the leader development literature to date has mainly focused on large interventions or outcomes, oftentimes overlooking day-to-day, micro-moments of leader development. In sport-related research there has been a paucity of research directly addressing development of women and girls as leaders. The purpose of the current study, therefore, was to determine how female intercollegiate student-athletes develop into leaders through micro-moments. This study employed a qualitative approach using interviews and observations. Participants included two National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III female teams. Three themes emerged from qualitative semi-structured interviews (N = 30) and observations (12 hours total) identifying the micro-moments of development: empowerment, modeling leadership, and peer-to-peer leadership. Findings explain how these micro-moments aid in the leader development process. The study enhances a theoretical understanding of intercollegiate student-athlete leader development. This study employs a pre-post survey design, engaging a purposive-convenience sample of 94 U.S. college athletes who participated in the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics across eight sports and 22 countries. Utilizing validated scales, participants' group, national, and athletic identities were measured weeks before and after the event. Paired sample t-tests and a repeated measures multivariate analysis of variance were utilized to understand the effects of time and demographic variables on these identities. Results revealed that after competing in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, college athletes exhibited a significant decrease in their group identity and a significant increase in their national identity, while their athletic identity remained relatively unchanged. The results were qualified by student status interactions such that international students showed a significant decrease in group identity and a significant increase in national identity after competing in Tokyo 2020, with no significant changes observed in these identities for domestic students. The results illuminate a complex process of identity negotiation experienced by collegiate Olympic athletes that transition between Olympic and college sport environments. This study contributes to sport management literature by offering nuanced insights into the dynamics of role-switching, urging stakeholders to utilize these findings to enhance the experiences of college athletes. In the quotidian, people perform voluntary whole-body movements requiring dynamic body balance. However, the literature is scarce of dynamic balance evaluations employing standardized voluntary movements. In this investigation, we aimed to analyze the sensitivity of balance evaluation between gymnasts and athletes from other sports in the performance of balance tasks. Participants were evaluated in upright quiet standing and the performance of cyclic dynamic tasks of hip flexion-extension and squat-lift movements. Movements were individually standardized in amplitude, while the rhythm was externally paced at the frequency of 0.5 Hz. Tasks were performed on a force plate, with dynamic balance measured through the center of pressure displacement. Results showed that in quiet standing and the dynamic hip flexion-extension task, no significant differences were found between the groups. Conversely, results for the squat-lift task revealed a better balance of the gymnasts over controls, as indicated by the reduced amplitude and velocity of the center of pressure displacement during the task execution. The superior balance performance of gymnasts in the squat-lift task was also observed when vision was suppressed. These findings suggest the employed squat-lift task protocol is a potentially sensitive procedure for the evaluation of voluntary dynamic balance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Stress is defined as a reaction of the body to any given stressor, external or internal. These stressors are common among participants in sports. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the dynamics of two stress biomarkers during an official cliff diving competition. The sample of participants included six professional cliff divers (three females and three males). Their salivary cortisol (C) and alpha-amylase (AA) samples were collected during a 3-day competition (four samples on day 1 and six samples on days 2 and 3). The analysis of the results showed a non-significant increase in AA from day one to day three. On the other hand, C has an increase in the first two days (0.58 ± 0.16 µg/mL–0.61 ± 0.23 µg/mL) and then a decrease in the last competition day (0.53 ± 0.23 µg/mL). Analysis of samples collected during each day demonstrates a fluctuation of the biomarkers. For AA, the sample after the training dive on the 2nd day has the highest value (326.34 ± 280.73 U/mL), whereas on day 3, the samples after training and before the competition dive are the highest (364.50 ± 287.13 U/mL; 466.49 ± 218.39 U/mL). Regarding C levels, the sample after the competition dive tends to show the highest values (0.66 ± 0.17 µg/mL; 0.89 ± 0.29 µg/mL; 0.76 ± 0.32 µg/mL, respectively). Furthermore, the correlation between the results of competition and biomarkers is not significant. These results demonstrate how cliff diving competition tends to have a high impact on the sympathetic nervous system, as observed mainly in AA dynamics. One might contend that even though there is no significant physical strain, cliff divers demonstrate heightened stress biomarker levels that could affect their performance and focus while diving. Servant leadership is characterized by a core altruistic calling and central attributes of genuine caring, humility, and empathy, and in recent years, has become a style of leadership recommended to be addressed in sports management classrooms because of its associated positive outcomes and emphasis on ethical behavior and decision-making. As the relevance and popularity of servant leadership continue to grow, it gives rise to matters of how this approach to leadership can be better studied and taught to current and aspirant sports professionals. Thus, the purpose of this qualitative case study is to analyze a community-based service-learning project as a mode for developing servant leaders as part of a college sports management curriculum. Nineteen upper-level college sports management students participated in this study by serving as mentors in an after-school program for underprivileged elementary school students for 12 h across the course of six weeks. Participants then completed a written reflection upon the conclusion of the service project. Content analysis of these reflections suggests that service learning may be a positive method for developing servant leaders. The article closes with a discussion of findings, proposed future research questions, as well as ideas for future service-learning projects aimed at developing servant leaders. In the realm of intelligent sports, the integration of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) marks a transformative approach toward energy sustainability and more advanced athletic monitoring. By leveraging the principle of triboelectricity, TENGs ingeniously convert mechanical energy from athletes' movements into electrical energy, which offers a green and efficient power solution for wearable technology. This paper presents an innovative study on the application of TENG technology in sports science, with the results illustrating the potential utility of TENGs in revolutionizing the way we monitor, analyze, and enhance athletic performance. Through the development of self-powered wearables and equipment, TENGs facilitate real-time data collection on physiological and biomechanical parameters, ultimately enabling personalized training adjustments and injury prevention strategies. Our findings underscore the dual benefit of TENGs in promoting environmental sustainability by reducing the overall reliance on traditional energy sources and growing the capabilities of intelligent sports systems. This research contributes to the burgeoning field of nano-energy sports applications while setting the stage for future explorations into the optimization of TENG integration in athletic performance enhancement. The article focuses on the integration of sustainability in sports management, emphasizing the perceptions and practices among Slovak sports managers. Topics include stakeholder engagement, the challenges of implementing sustainable practices, and the role of marketing in promoting sustainability within sports organizations.

Participant safety is becoming increasingly important as outdoor sports activities gain popularity. A machine learning-based strategy for risk assessment and safety control in outdoor sports activities is presented in this paper. Our framework uses predictive modelling, sophisticated algorithms, and historical data analysis to identify potential dangers and improve safety procedures. It also considers participant profiles and environmental conditions. Comprehensive testing and validation are used to examine the model's efficacy, showing that it can offer risk evaluations in real-time and support preventive safety measures. Our approach entails placing sensor-based Internet of Things (IoT) devices at building sites to gather extremely detailed temporal and geographic weather, building, and labour data. This data is then cooperatively used on the edge nodes to train Deep Neural Network (DNN) models in a cross-silos way. The present study makes a valuable contribution to sports safety by offering a clever approach that integrates technology and outdoor leisure to ensure participants have a safe and pleasurable experience. The experiment's outcomes show how well the suggested strategy works to increase the adoption of construction safety management systems and lower the likelihood of future mishaps and fatalities. The research aims to determine genetic markers related to endurance and strength. By better and early recognition of these gene markers, such training will be provided to these persons, which will help them become true athletes. But if these gene markers are identified at a better time, that person's talent will be wasted. The research is based on primary data analysis to determine the data used smart PLS software and generate results, including descriptive statistical analysis and the correlation coefficient, which also explains the smart PLS Algorithm model between them. The research study also determines the implications of talent identification in the sport. The critical implication of identifying gene markers is that it can help the personalized training of athletes. There are some sorts of training that coaches provide, but there are also some sorts of self-training that can be provided to oneself without the assistance of others. If there is timely identification of these genes, it will help athletes with personalized training programs. This study addresses the challenges of engaging Chinese-speaking audiences in international sports events due to fragmented communication models and limited media integration. A novel interaction model based on multi-channel data fusion is proposed to enhance information dissemination and user engagement. The model integrates data from traditional media, internet media, and social media into a cohesive platform, utilizing advanced data fusion techniques, microservices architecture, and technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and WebSocket for high availability and real-time interaction. Additionally, Nginx with the RTMP module and Akamai CDN ensures highquality streaming services. Experimental results demonstrate the platform's effectiveness in data integration, content publishing, and real-time user interaction, significantly improving Chinese engagement in international sports events. This research provides practical strategies for event organizers to enhance communication, leading to higher audience satisfaction and participation, and contributes to the theoretical framework of sports event communication through innovative and inclusive practices. Stopping competitions and the training process was a shock that sports organizations had to deal with. Financial problems forced them to rethink the situation. In Slovakia, this became critical. This is why we started to research this issue to provide an answer to the research question: What are the actual consequences of government measures on the sports industry? A survey was conducted including two questionnaires made available between the pandemic waves. The first questionnaire was designed for athletes and sports professionals (N = 1040). The second addressed sports organizations (N = 626). Questionnaires were accessible via sports organizations' portals. The ban on organizing mass sports events affected this industry. More than 80% of respondents had an experience of having to cancel a competition or training activity. This had an impact on their income as well as their future activities. We cooperate with government institutions and sports associations in Slovakia, so the results were provided to government officials. However, due to political changes accompanied by changes in the ministries responsible for the sports industry in Slovakia, it is relevant to summarize the research results in their present form. In order to study the optimal personalized motion push target, the author proposes a personalized health management strategy based on deep reinforcement learning in the network environment. Firstly, the research problem is defined, and a real-time interactive personalized motion target decision-making model is constructed; Subsequently, in response to the uncertain characteristics of user behavior in the problem, a deep reinforcement learning algorithm was adopted, combined with the departure strategy temporal difference learning method and neural network nonlinear fitting method, in order to learn strategies from user historical data; Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method was validated using a real dataset from Fitbit. The research results indicate that personalized motion goal push services based on deep reinforcement learning can help users cultivate a healthy lifestyle and improve their personal health management level by analyzing user behavior data in real-time, providing scientific guidance and timely incentives. Two rule changes have brought seismic shifts to collegiate sports in the United States - the right for college athletes to monetize their Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL), and the Transfer Portal for athletes looking to switch schools. Qualitative interviews with 16 college athletes explored the mental health byproducts of these new athlete opportunities. The interviews suggest that many athletes are hesitant to participate in NIL due to a lack of guidance. The study also found that college athletes believe entering the Transfer Portal to be a highly stressful experience, comparing the process to being recruited out of high school. However, the accessibility of the Transfer Portal also helps students leave situations that negatively impact their mental health faster and easier than before. Since college athletes are a highly at-risk demographic for mental health issues, their first-hand perspective can help on-campus staff and administrators have a better understanding of what is needed to give collegiate athletes the best possible experience to learn and develop as students and citizens. Occupational retirement is a major life transition that involves extensive planning, preparation, and coping strategies. Concept analysis was completed to explore adaptation to occupational retirement as a way to further understand sport retirement. Thirty-nine occupational-related articles were included in the final analysis. The primary antecedent to occupational retirement is financial stability, followed by age and family life. Antecedents to sport retirement include graduation, exhaustion of NCAA eligibility, and possibly injury. The antecedents are unique to each type of retirement, but the consequences are similar. Retirees of both types often experience feelings of loss, grief, depression, and identity crisis while adjusting to these changes. Achieving adaptation to the life transition of retirement can be enhanced by forming identities outside of work and sports, viewing the change as a gain rather than a loss, and preparing for retirement. Additionally, through this analysis, tools to measure quality of adaptation to occupational retirement were discovered. These tools could be applied to sports in future research. The aim of the work is to formulate proposals for improving the investigation of manipulation of the results of expected results in sports, taking into account the existing gaps in the Macolin Convention. The research employed formal-legal method, logical-legal method and descriptive method. The main obstacles to implementing the Convention of the Council of Europe on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions were identified. There are legislative, cultural, and economic differences between countries, which do not allow for its implementation in a single way for everyone. The study determined that combating the manipulation of sports competitions is impossible without the proper cooperation of countries and interested participants, aimed at increasing the transparency of the flow of funds in sports, improving sports management and legal framework, etc. The significance of the latest technologies in the fight against threats generated by the growth of the online betting market is noted. The importance of cooperation with the media in the course of investigations of manipulations was emphasised. The practical significance of the results is the possibility of their application to overcome existing obstacles in the fight against manipulation in sports and use the proposed methods of countering and investigating such manipulations. Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the factors affecting the interaction with the endorsed brand of the celebrity athlete on social media (the moderating role of the Trustworthy celebrity athlete). Methodology: In terms of purpose, this study is practical, and in terms of data collection method, it is descriptive-correlative. The population included all sports product consumers on Instagram. A total of 370 individuals participated in the study. The study's measurement instrument was a questionnaire belonging to (Wei & Lu, 2013); (Hussain et al., 2020) and (Arai et al., 2013). Sports management professors reviewed the questionnaire to verify its face validity. The external model evaluation, including composite reliability, convergent validity, and divergent validity, proved the instrument's validity. Findings: The internal model evaluation indicated that the celebrity's athletic performance, attractiveness, and market lifestyle significantly affect consumers' interactions with celebrity athletes on social media. The "Trustworthy celebrity athlete" also held a positive moderating function associated with customer interactions with a celebrity athlete owning an endorsed brand on social media. In general, trusting a trustworthy celebrity athlete, as well as his recommendations and statements of truthfulness, can impact the audience's interaction with his brand to a great extent. Those responsible for elite and youth athletes are increasingly aware of the need to balance the quest for superior performance with the need to protect the physical and psychological wellbeing of athletes. As a result, regular assessment of risks to mental health is a common feature in sports organisations. In the present study, the Brazil Mood Scale (BRAMS) was administered to 898 athletes (387 female, 511 male, age range: 12–44 years) at a leading sports club in Rio de Janeiro using either "past week" or "right now" response timeframes. Using seeded k-means cluster analysis, six distinct mood profile clusters were identified, referred to as the iceberg, surface, submerged, shark fin, inverse iceberg, and inverse Everest profiles. The latter three profiles, which are associated with varying degrees of increased risk to mental health, were reported by 238 athletes (26.5%). The prevalence of these three mood clusters varied according to the response timeframe (past week > right now) and the sex of the athletes (female > male). The prevalence of the iceberg profile varied by athlete sex (male > female), and age (12–17 years > 18+ years). The development and promotion of sports in society are crucial concerns for governments worldwide, including Ukraine. The purpose of this study is to examine the current state of physical education in Ukraine and create concepts of possible ways to improve this situation. Methods of analysis, synthesis, and sociological survey were used. The key principles governing state involvement in physical education and sports in Ukraine are outlined, forming the foundation for effective state policies. The primary responsibility of the state is to effectively organize and address the fulfilment of societal needs, promoting the prestige and well-being of the nation. In recent years, numerous discussions have arisen regarding the outdated nature of Ukraine’s sports system, which fails to align with contemporary realities, yields unsatisfactory results, and necessitates significant reforms. Additionally, evidence has demonstrated a problem with the antiquated organisation of work, resulting in stagnation and a lack of progress. The priority of Ukraine should be the development of sports of higher achievement and mass sports for various social groups. Discrimination based on ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation remains a critical concern across Europe, including within the sphere of youth sports. Research has shown that youth sports can be a fertile environment for discrimination and bullying and that coaches play a key role in preventing or mitigating discriminatory situations. Given the crucial role of coaches, it is therefore important to build our understanding of the experiences, perspectives, and needs of those coaches concerning discrimination in sports. Against this background, this paper presents the results of an applied survey of 174 European youth sport coaches conducted as part of the INCLUDE project. In particular, this survey focuses on the experiences of coaches when witnessing and reporting discrimination, as well as their perspectives on what needs to be done in the policy and educational areas to combat issues of discrimination. Results show that 25% of coaches witness discrimination on a monthly basis and that fans or spectators are perceived as the most common perpetrators. To combat the issues, coaches report a need for greater policy support, funding, training, and awareness raising. European sports policies have focused on the implementation of public instruments and policy measures, aiming to encourage EU member states to promote and improve sports habits, while simultaneously tackling high levels of sedentary lifestyle among Europeans. Despite these efforts, data concerning the various measures is quite limited, making it impossible to assess the real impact on the population, particularly in the case of the European Cities of Sport. This award has been held since 2007 and has already distinguished 193 cities; however, current knowledge does not allow researchers to theorise about its multiple impacts as a strategic policy instrument for the local development of sport in Europe, thus constituting a gap within sports management research. In order to further this knowledge, we explored European reality over a decade (2013–2022), analysing nine awards of Portuguese cities. We employed qualitative methods for documentary analysis of public information and descriptive statistics for data analysis. The results show that over 2 600 multidisciplinary events were organised, among which 402 had an international character (15%), an average of 50 sports disciplines per edition, 359 events related to culture and education, and involved over 1 000 000 participants, with an overall investment of over €39 million. This research now allows a theoretical-scientific and operational referential pattern of key indicators to be established for future European ECS applications, while demonstrating an encouraging relationship, from a sports perspective and economically, between public investment made and estimated return, thus contributing to better political decisions and to the positive implications of increasing public investment in sport. Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common cardiac arrhythmia that poses a significant risk of stroke and thromboembolic events. Anticoagulation therapy is essential for preventing stroke in patients with AF. An increasing number of people of all ages, including cardiac patients, approach physical activity as both a leisure-time exercise and a competitive sport. Therefore, patients at risk of AF are increasingly allowed to practice sports activities. Management of oral anticoagulant therapy (OAT) in these patients is extremely challenging because of the need to balance the risks and benefits of medications, considering both hemorrhagic (in case of trauma) and ischemic complications when the drugs are avoided. Official recommendations are limited for these patients and forbid sports that increase the risk of trauma and consequent bleeding in most cases. These recommendations are strongly influenced by the "traditional" management of OAT, which mainly involves coumarin derivatives. Non-vitamin K antagonist direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs), with their more favorable pharmacokinetic--pharmacodynamic profile than that of coumarin derivatives, may represent an opportunity to modify the approach to sports activity in patients with AF and indications for OAT. This article aims to improve the inefficiency of the sports service supply chain (SC) caused by the unscientific management of stakeholders in the sports service SC. First, combined with the literature, the identification and management of the service SC domestically and internationally are explained, providing a meaningful reference for improving sports service bases. Second, fuzzy comprehensive appraisal (FCA) algorithm process and artificial intelligence (AI) technology are used to evaluate and manage the risk of sports service SC. The FCA algorithm provides a comprehensive evaluation factor set for the sports service SC risk evaluation. Then, the complete evaluation set is established. To obtain the evaluation matrix, the 'expert' carries out fuzzy evaluation on each single factor. AI provides a data analysis platform for integrated SC risk management. The platform can realize the logical hierarchical relationship between indicators and rules, systematically standardize the sports service SC and rules, and conduct unified display, monitoring, and trend analysis. Finally, the FCA method is used to evaluate the risks of the sports service SC, and the results of the comprehensive management of the dangers of the SC are analysed. The results show that the evaluation indicators of sports service venues' SC service capabilities have a good consistency. The highest weight score of government service capability in the sports service SC is 0.2413, and the lowest weight score of the service capability index of the sports operation platform is 0.1708. Sports service venues' SC capacity in NANCHANG City is relatively average. This article deeply understands the structure of the sports service SC. It provides relevant basis and guidance for sports service integrators, service providers, and other market entities to adjust management strategies and improve market competitiveness. It also clarifies the risks and management results of the sports service SC, provides academic help for the researchers and enriches and develops the theory of the reform and construction of the Chinese sports service SC. Supply chain risk management is crucial for the management of sports goods companies, which can help enterprises better complete the transparent and efficient management of the whole process from production to sales. However, there are inevitably some potential risks. Thereby, to study the supply chain risk management of badminton supplies companies in the general environment, the supply chain risk evaluation index system of badminton supplies companies is established in this study by studying the connotation of supply chain risk management and combining the steps of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (FCE) method. Then, according to these evaluation indexes, the modelling process of the classification and regression tree (CART) algorithm in the corporate overall supply chain risk decision tree is proposed. Moreover, the corporate overall supply chain risk decision tree is established. Moreover, the financial data of 10 A‐share listed companies of badminton and other sports goods listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2020 are selected as the sample dataset for model training and testing. The potential risks of badminton enterprises are predicted. The results show that the scale of badminton enterprises has been increasing gradually since 2018, but the return on total assets has steadily decreased with the increase of years. It shows that the badminton supplies enterprise's input and output assets are unbalanced, and the overall asset operation effect is relatively poor. However, the growth rate of total assets shows a significant upward trend from 2018 to 2020, rising from 4% to 12.69%. It indicates that the corporate investment and domestic and foreign investment expansion in recent years are high‐speed. The FCE method is employed to obtain the maximum eigenvalue λmax of the enterprise, which is 5.4698. Then, the C.I value is 0.1205, the R.I value is 1.12, and the consistency ratio value is 0.0958 < 0.1, indicating that the judgement matrix is acceptable. It suggests that under the influence of the macro environment and economic situation, the sales situation of the badminton supplies company is subtly affected by the macro environment, and there is a great business risk. For more than one hundred years, professional baseball has enjoyed a form of exemption from federal antitrust laws. Arising from a statement made by the game's first commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis that organized baseball is a national institution and not labor--and later enshrined into common law by Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes's adoption of a now-outdated definition of interstate commerce--baseball's antitrust exemption endures as "an exception, an anomaly and an aberration." Relying on an exemption from antitrust law, owners of Major League Baseball have become exceedingly wealthy based on their carte blanche freedom to act in their collective best interests--sometimes to the detriment of players, rival sports leagues, and fans. Even though the original basis for baseball's antitrust exemption has long since faded, courts and Congress, fearing political backlash or perhaps enjoying the perks of aggressive lobbyists seeking to curry favor, have been loath to lift the exemption. This Article calls for reform to the treatment of professional baseball under federal antitrust laws and suggests that baseball, like all other organized sports, be held subject to competitive scrutiny. Drawing on a careful study of baseball history, legal precedent, and public policy, the Article concludes that even if organized baseball is a national institution, much like its historic use of amateur players, unbalanced schedules, and segregated leagues, the time has come to put baseball's historic antitrust exemption behind us. Cyber competitions are usually team activities, where team performance not only depends on the members' abilities but also on team collaboration. This seems intuitive, especially given that team formation is a well-studied discipline in competitive sports and project management, but unfortunately, team performance and team formation strategies are rarely studied in the context of cybersecurity and cyber competitions. Since cyber competitions are becoming more prevalent and organized, this gap becomes an opportunity to formalize the study of team performance in the context of cyber competitions. This work follows a cross-validating two-approach methodology. The first is the computational modeling of cyber competitions using Agent-Based Modeling. Team members are modeled, in NetLogo, as collaborating agents competing over a network in a red team/blue team match. Members' abilities, team interaction and network properties are parametrized (inputs), and the match score is reported as output. The second approach is grounded in the literature of team performance (not in the context of cyber competitions), where a theoretical framework is built in accordance with the literature. The results of the first approach are used to build a causal inference model using Structural Equation Modeling. Upon comparing the causal inference model to the theoretical model, they showed high resemblance, and this cross-validated both approaches. Two main findings are deduced: first, the body of literature studying teams remains valid and applicable in the context of cyber competitions. Second, coaches and researchers can test new team strategies computationally and achieve precise performance predictions.
