1. CommitShield: Tracking Vulnerability Introduction and Fix in Version Control Systems

Abstract

Version control systems are commonly used to manage open-source software, in which each commit may introduce new vulnerabilities or fix existing ones. Researchers have developed various tools for detecting vulnerabilities in code commits, but their performance is limited by factors such as neglecting descriptive data and challenges in accurately identifying vulnerability introductions. To overcome these limitations, we propose CommitShield, which combines the code analysis capabilities of static analysis tools with the natural language and code understanding capabilities of large language models (LLMs) to enhance the accuracy of vulnerability introduction and fix detection by generating precise descriptions and obtaining rich patch contexts. We evaluate CommitShield using the newly constructed vulnerability repair dataset, CommitVulFix, and a cleaned vulnerability introduction dataset. Experimental results indicate that CommitShield improves recall by 76%-87% over state-of-the-art methods in the vulnerability fix detection task, and its F1-score improves by 15%-27% in the vulnerability introduction detection task.

2. Crowd Modeling and Control via Cooperative Adaptive Filtering

Abstract

This paper introduces a crowd modeling and motion control approach that employs diffusion adaptation within an adaptive network. In the network, nodes collaboratively address specific estimation problems while simultaneously moving as agents governed by certain motion control mechanisms. Our research delves into the behaviors of agents when they encounter spatial constraints. Within this framework, agents pursue several objectives, such as target tracking, coherent motion, and obstacle evasion. Throughout their navigation, they demonstrate a nature of self-organization and self-adjustment that drives them to maintain certain social distances with each other, and adaptively adjust their behaviors in response to the environmental changes. 4. Structural evolution and mechanical properties of Cr coatings deposited by magnetron sputtering on PCrNi1MoA steel.

Abstract

Cr coatings were prepared by direct current magnetron sputtering on PCrNi1MoA steel, a substrate that has received limited attention in previous studies. The influence of deposition temperature on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Cr coatings was clarified. A comparative analysis was also performed to assess their performance relative to Cr coatings on the stainless steel substrate. All coatings on PCrNi1MoA steel exhibited densely packed fibrous grains in the cross section and a faceted triangular pyramid shape on the surface. Generally, increasing the deposition temperature led to enhanced mechanical properties, primarily due to the reduction of flaws and microporosity, facilitated by the increased mobility of adatoms at higher temperatures. The maximum values of hardness (H), elastic modulus (E), ratios of H/E and H3/E2, and adhesion strength are 4.1 GPa, 117.8 GPa, 0.43, 0.45 GPa, and 27 N, respectively. Compared to the Cr coatings on stainless steel, those on PCrNi1MoA steel exhibited a higher (110) texture coefficient, more uniform grain structures at high deposition temperatures, smoother surfaces, and better adhesion to the substrate. The aims of this study are to investigate the gene expression profile of CRC and to explore potential strategy for CRC diagnosis, therapy and prognosis.Methods: We use affy and Limma package of Bioconductor R to do differential expression genes (DEGs) and differential expression lncRNAs (DELs) analysis from the gene datasets (GSE8671, GSE21510, GSE32323, GSE39582 and TCGA) respectively. Then, DEGs were analyzed by GO and KEGG pathway and Kaplan-Meier survival curve and Cox regression analyses were used to find aberrantly expressed genes associated with survival outcome of CRC patients. Real-time PCR assay was used to verify the aberrantly expressed genes expression in CRC samples.Results: 306 up-regulation and 213 down-regulation common DEGs were found. A total of 485 DELs were identified, of which 241 up-regulated and 244 down-regulated. Then, GO and KEGG pathway analyses showed that DEGs were involved in cell cycle, mineral absorption, DNA replication, and Nitrogen metabolism. Among them, Kaplan-Meier survival curve and Cox regression analyses revealed that CDC6, CDC45, ORC6 and SNHG7 levels were significantly associated with survival outcome of CRC patients. Finally, real-time PCR assay was used to verify that the CDC6, CDC45, ORC6 and SNHG7 expression were up-regulated in 198 CRC samples compared with the expression levels in individual-matched adjacent mucosa samples.Conclusion: CDC6, CDC45, ORC6 and SNHG7 are implicated in CRC initiation and progression and could be explored as potential diagnosis, therapy and prognosis targets for CRC.Keywords: colorectal cancer, CRC, CDC6, CDC45, ORC6, SNHG7, prognostic, diagnostic
