Anxi Tieguanyin belongs to the oolong tea category and is one of the top ten most famous teas in China. In this study, hyperspectral imaging (HSI) technology was combined with chemometric methods to achieve the rapid determination of free amino acid and tea polyphenol contents in Tieguanyin tea. Here, the spectral data of Tieguanyin tea samples of four quality grades were obtained via visible near-infrared hyperspectroscopy in the range of 400–1000 nm, and the free amino acid and tea polyphenol contents of the samples were detected. First derivative (1D), normalization (Nor), and Savitzky–Golay (SG) smoothing were utilized to preprocess the original spectrum. The characteristic wavelengths were extracted via principal component analysis (PCA), competitive adaptive reweighted sampling (CARS), and the successive projection algorithm (SPA). The contents of free amino acid and tea polyphenol in Tieguanyin tea were predicted by the back propagation (BP) neural network, partial least squares regression (PLSR), random forest (RF), and support vector machine (SVM). The results revealed that the free amino acid content of the clear-flavoured Tieguanyin was greater than that of the strong-flavoured type, that the tea polyphenol content of the strong-flavoured Tieguanyin was greater than that of the clear-flavoured type, and that the content of the first-grade product was greater than that of the second-grade product. The 1D preprocessing improved the resolution and sensitivity of the spectra. When using CARS, the number of wavelengths for free amino acids and tea polyphenols was reduced to 50 and 70, respectively. The combination of 1D and CARS is conducive to improving the accuracy of late modelling. The 1D-CARS-RF model had the highest accuracy in predicting the free amino acid (RP2 = 0.940, RMSEP = 0.032, and RPD = 4.446) and tea polyphenol contents (RP2 = 0.938, RMSEP = 0.334, and RPD = 4.474). The use of hyperspectral imaging combined with multiple algorithms can be used to achieve the fast and non-destructive prediction of free amino acid and tea polyphenol contents in Tieguanyin tea. Carica papaya, commonly known as papaya, is a fruit recognized for its substantial medicinal potential, primarily due to its wide range of bioactive compounds. This review thoroughly examines the pharmacological implications of these constituents and highlights their potential applications in drug discovery and therapy. Papaya is abundant in vitamins (A, C, and E), minerals, enzymes, and phytochemicals such as flavonoids, phenolic acids, carotenoids, and alkaloids, all of which contribute to its antioxidant, anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer effects. The fruit demonstrates significant activity against diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and gastrointestinal disorders. This review also discusses how environmental factors, including temperature, light, soil quality, and rainfall, impact the phytochemical composition of papaya, thereby influencing its medicinal properties. Both in vitro and in vivo studies have highlighted the therapeutic potential of papaya-derived compounds in various health conditions, including cancer, diabetes, wound healing, and cardiovascular health. Additionally, we explore papaya's role in promoting gut health and its antimicrobial properties against bacterial and viral pathogens. Amine neurotransmitters (NTs) are crucial in the central nervous system, and dysregulation in their levels is implicated in a spectrum of neurological disorders. Thus, a precise and timely assessment of their concentrations is critical for early diagnosis and treatment efficacy monitoring. Graphene-based field effect transistors (GFETs) have become a ground-breaking instrument in the detection of these NTs because of their exceptional electrical characteristics and adaptability. Broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica) is one of the most consumed cruciferous crops in the world, with China and Spain acting as the main producers from outside and within the EU, respectively. Broccoli florets are edible, while the leaves and stalks, discarded in the field and during processing, are by-products. Therefore, the objective of this study was to conduct a comprehensive review of the nutrient and phytochemical composition of broccoli and its by-products, as well as its beneficial effects. In addition, the study highlights the revalorization of broccoli by-products through innovative green technologies and explores their potential use in bakery products for the development of functional foods. The studies suggested that broccoli is characterized by a high content of nutrients and bioactive compounds, including vitamins, fiber, glucosinolates, and phenolic compounds, and their content varied with various parts. This high content of value-added compounds gives broccoli and its various parts beneficial properties, including anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, metabolic disorder regulatory, and neuroprotective effects. Furthermore, broccoli and its by-products can play a key role in food applications by improving the nutritional profile of products due to their rich content of bioactive compounds. As a result, it is essential to harness the potential of the broccoli and its by-products that are generated during its processing through an appropriate agro-industrial revalorization, using environmentally friendly techniques. Control of oxidation/antioxidation homeostasis is important for cellular protective functions, and disruption of the antioxidation balance by exogenous and endogenous ligands can lead to profound pathological consequences of cancerous commitment within cells. Although cancers are sensitive to antioxidation drugs, these drugs are sometimes associated with problems including tumor resistance or dose-limiting toxicity in host animals and patients. These problems are often caused by the imbalance between the levels of oxidative stress-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the redox efficacy of antioxidants. Increased ROS levels, because of abnormal function, including metabolic abnormality and signaling aberrations, can promote tumorigenesis and the progression of malignancy, which are generated by genome mutations and activation of proto-oncogene signaling. This hypothesis is supported by various experiments showing that the balance of oxidative stress and redox control is important for cancer therapy. Although many antioxidant drugs exhibit therapeutic potential, there is a heterogeneity of antioxidation functions, including cell growth, cell survival, invasion abilities, and tumor formation, as well as the expression of marker genes including tumor suppressor proteins, cell cycle regulators, nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2, and Jun dimerization protein 2; their effectiveness in cancer remains unproven. Here, we summarize the rationale for the use of antioxidative drugs in preclinical and clinical antioxidant therapy of cancer, and recent advances in this area using cancer cells and their organoids, including the targeting of ROS homeostasis. SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeasts) is an artificially created mixed culture containing selected strains of acetic acid and lactic acid bacteria and yeast which are present in the cellulose membrane. The growing popularity of kombucha consumption and high popularity of coffee creates the possibility of developing coffee-based kombucha production on an industrial scale, which currently does not differ in method from production on a laboratory scale and at home. Therefore, the aim of this work was to determine the possibility of using an alternative method of coffee fermentation using SCOBY, in which the fermentation was carried out in a bioreactor with a constant air flow (rate 2L/min). This study determined the effect of the fermentation method on the processing time, SCOBY mass gain, and selected properties of the fermented coffee beverage. The alternative fermentation method did not negatively affect the properties of the fermented coffee beverage, i.e., caffeine content, colour, polyphenol content, and antioxidant properties, in comparison with the traditional fermentation method. Additionally, it accelerated the fermentation process, shortening it from 8 to 4 days, and in some cases caused an increase in the total polyphenol content and antioxidant activity, almost 10% and over 40%, respectively. The results of this study show a possibility to use alternative methods for coffee fermentation, which can be easily adapted for industrial scale. Variants of fermented and aerated beverages with 4% coffee, and 4 and 5% sugar concentrations stood out among the others as having the best properties and might be introduced to the industry. Converting CO2 into methane is considered a promising and economically viable technology for global transportation and utilization of this greenhouse gas. This study involves the preparation of a Ni-CZ (CeO2-ZrO2)/ATP (attapulgite) catalyst through the co-precipitation and impregnation methods. XRD, SEM, TEM, N2 absorption-desorption isotherms, XPS, H2-TPR, CO2-TPD, TG/DSC, and Raman were adapted to characterize the obtained samples. Real-time GC was used to measure the catalytic performances and to intensively study the impact of Ni loading content and ATP to CZ ratio on the catalytic performance of the products. DRIFTs was used to monitor the interstitial radicals in the catalytic reactions and to deduce the catalytic mechanisms. The results indicate that the composite catalytic matrix composed of CZ assembled on ATP demonstrated higher CO2 methanation stability and better carbon deposition resistance ability than the single CZ or ATP as the carrier, which should be attributed to the improved specific surface area and pore volume of the ATP assembled matrix and the enhanced dispersibility of the CZ and Ni species. The adoption of CZ solid solutions improves the oxygen storage capability of the catalyst, thereby providing continued mobile O2− in the matrix and accelerating the molecular exchange rate in the catalytic reactions. The ideal loading quantity of nickel contents on the CZA matrix is 15%, as the CO2 conversion decreases at elevated temperatures when the Ni loading content reaches 20%. Among the tested samples, the 15Ni-0.8CZA sample showed the best catalytic performance of 75% CO2 conversion and 100% CH4 selectivity at 400 °C. After 50 h of stability tests, the CO2 conversion rate still remained 70.84%, and the CH4 selectivity obtained 97.46%. No obvious coke was detected according to the Raman spectra of the used catalyst. To address issues such as misdetection and omission due to low light, image defocus, and worker occlusion in coal-rock image recognition, a new method called YOLOv8-Coal, based on YOLOv8, is introduced to enhance recognition accuracy and processing speed. The Deformable Convolution Network version 3 enhances object feature extraction by adjusting sampling positions with offsets and aligning them closely with the object's shape. The Polarized Self-Attention module in the feature fusion network emphasizes crucial features and suppresses unnecessary information to minimize irrelevant factors. Additionally, the lightweight C2fGhost module combines the strengths of GhostNet and the C2f module, further decreasing model parameters and computational load. The empirical findings indicate that YOLOv8-Coal has achieved substantial enhancements in all metrics on the coal rock image dataset. More precisely, the values for AP50, AP50:95, and AR50:95 were improved to 77.7%, 62.8%, and 75.0% respectively. In addition, optimal localization recall precision (oLRP) were decreased to 45.6%. In addition, the model parameters were decreased to 2.59M and the FLOPs were reduced to 6.9G. Finally, the size of the model weight file is a mere 5.2 MB. Gastric cancer (GC) is the fourth most common malignant cancer and is a lifethreatening disease worldwide. Phytochemicals have been shown to be a rational, safe, non-toxic, and very promising approach to the prevention and treatment of cancer. It has been found that phytochemicals have protective effects against GC through inhibiting cell proliferation, inducing apoptosis and autophagy, suppressing cell invasion and migration, anti-angiogenesis, inhibit Helicobacter pylori infection, regulating the microenvironment. In recent years, the role of phytochemicals in the occurrence, development, drug resistance and prognosis of GC has attracted more and more attention. In order to better understand the relationship between phytochemicals and gastric cancer, we briefly summarize the roles and functions of phytochemicals in GC tumorigenesis, development and prognosis. This review will probably help guide the public to prevent the occurrence and development of GC through phytochemicals, and develop functional foods or drugs for the prevention and treatment of gastric cancer. Investigating the different chemical species of soluble iron in food digests provides more relevant information on the nutritional potential of an iron‐rich food. The objective of this study was to assess the bioaccessibility and speciation of iron from various aqueous extracts of Moringa (Moringa oleifera) leaves. Aqueous extracts were prepared from fresh and dried Moringa leaves using infusion and decoction methods. Spectrophotometric assays were performed to quantify inhibitors and enhancers of iron absorption in the extracts, bioaccessible iron, and its different chemical species. The highest contents of inhibitors (239.43 mg/L for polyphenols and 2.92 mg/L for phytates) and enhancers of iron absorption (1.58 mmol/L for carotenoids and 488.00 mg/L for ascorbic acid) were found in the 5‐minute decoction extract of fresh leaves, and the lowest in all infusion extracts (27.34 mg/L for polyphenols, 0.50 mg/L for phytates, 0.15 mmol/L for carotenoids, and 86.00 mg/L for ascorbic acid). The percentages of bioaccessible iron were higher for decoction extracts (42.57–52.70%) compared to infusion extracts (33.89–36.44%). Ferrous iron was the dominant inorganic species of bioaccessible iron and was more concentrated in the digests of decoction extracts (1.32–4.85 mg/L). The highest content of organic iron (5.33 mg/L) was found in the digest of the 8‐minute decoction extract of dried leaves. Drinking decoction extracts of fresh and dried Moringa leaves could be recommended to alleviate iron deficiency in vulnerable groups of the population living in areas where this plant can grow. From ancient times to the present day, fermentation has been utilized not only for food preservation but also for enhancing the nutritional and functional properties of foods. This process is influenced by numerous factors, including the type of microorganisms used, substrate composition, pH, time, and temperature, all of which can significantly alter the characteristics of the final product. Depending on the parameters, fermentation enhances the bioactive content of the products and imparts the necessary properties, such as antioxidant characteristics, for the products to be considered functional. The enhancement of these properties, particularly antioxidant activity, enriches foods with bioactive compounds and functional attributes, contributing to improved health benefits. Through a review of recent research, this study elucidates how different fermentation processes can enhance the bioavailability and efficacy of antioxidants, thereby improving the nutritional and functional qualities of foods. This study investigated the multifaceted effects of fermentation on antioxidant properties by exploring various types and conditions of fermentation. It highlights specific examples from dairy products and other food categories as well as the valorization of food waste and byproducts. The findings underscore the potential of fermentation as a sustainable method to produce health-promoting foods with elevated antioxidant activities, offering new perspectives for food science and technology. In recent decades, the demand for clean and renewable energy has grown increasingly urgent due to the irreversible alteration of the global climate change. As a result, organic solar cells (OSCs) have emerged as a promising alternative to address this issue. In this review, we summarize the recent progress in the molecular design strategies of benzodithiophene (BDT)‐based polymer and small molecule donor materials since their birth, focusing on the development of main‐chain engineering, side‐chain engineering and other unique molecular design paths. Up to now, the state‐of‐the‐art power conversion efficiency (PCE) of binary OSCs prepared by BDT‐based donor materials has approached 20%. This work discusses the potential relationship between the molecular changes of donor materials and photoelectric performance in corresponding OSC devices in detail, thereby presenting a rational molecular design guidance for stable and efficient donor materials in future. TiO2-supported Pd NPs-based materials were prepared following two distinct approaches: For the first set of materials 1–8, modification of the TiO2 support was performed prior to Pd NPs deposition, while the second set (9–15) was synthesized by deposition of modifiers over pre-synthesized Pd-PPh3/TiO2. These catalysts were applied in the hydrogenation of CO2 to formate, and their performance was compared with that of the unmodified Pd-PPh3/TiO2. Modification of the TiO2 support by organosilanes provided a beneficial effect in catalysis compared with the catalyst containing unmodified TiO2 or TiO2 modified by organophosphonic acids. In contrast, in most cases, the deposition of modifiers over previously synthesized Pd NPs supported on TiO2 was not beneficial to the activity of the catalyst. Interestingly, upon recycling, the first set of catalysts suffered a rapid decrease in activity, while the anchoring of modifiers over previously formed Pd NPs showed an improved stability (TON > 500 after the third recycling). Artificial olfaction, also known as an electronic nose, is a gas identification device that replicates the human olfactory organ. This system integrates sensor arrays to detect gases, data acquisition for signal processing, and data analysis for precise identification, enabling it to assess gases both qualitatively and quantitatively in complex settings. This article provides a brief overview of the research progress in electronic nose technology, which is divided into three main elements, focusing on gas-sensitive materials, electronic nose applications, and data analysis methods. Furthermore, the review explores both traditional MOS materials and the newer porous materials like MOFs for gas sensors, summarizing the applications of electronic noses across diverse fields including disease diagnosis, environmental monitoring, food safety, and agricultural production. Additionally, it covers electronic nose pattern recognition and signal drift suppression algorithms. Ultimately, the summary identifies challenges faced by current systems and offers innovative solutions for future advancements. Exposure to 2.45 GHz electromagnetic radiation (EMR) emitted from commonly used devices has been reported to induce oxidative stress in several experimental models. Our study aims to evaluate the efficacy of sulforaphane, a well-known natural product, in preventing radiation-induced toxic effects caused by a 24 h exposure of SH-SY5Y neuronal-like cells and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) to 2.45 GHz EMR. Cells were exposed to radiation for 24 h in the presence or absence of sulforaphane at different concentrations (5–10–25 µg/mL). Cell viability, mitochondrial activity alterations, the transcription and protein levels of redox markers, and apoptosis-related genes were investigated. Our data showed a reduction in cell viability of both neuronal-like cells and PBMCs caused by EMR exposure and a protective effect of 5 µg/mL sulforaphane. The lowest sulforaphane concentration decreased ROS production and increased the Mitochondrial Transmembrane Potential (Δψm) and the NAD+/NADH ratio, which were altered by radiation exposure. Sulforaphane at higher concentrations displayed harmful effects. The hormetic behavior of sulforaphane was also evident after evaluating the expression of genes coding for Nrf2, SOD2, and changes in apoptosis markers. Our study underlined the vulnerability of neuronal-like cells to mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress and the possibility of mitigating these effects by supplementation with sulforaphane. The utilization of fossil fuel has increased atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) concentrations drastically over the last few decades. This leads to global warming and climate change, increasing the occurrence of more severe weather around the world. One promising solution to reduce anthropogenic CO2 emissions is methanation. Many researchers and industries are interested in CO2 methanation as a power-to-gas technology and carbon capture and storage (CCS) system. Producing an energy carrier, methane (CH4), via CO2 methanation and water electrolysis is an exceptionally effective method of capturing energy generated by renewables. To enhance methanation efficiency, numerous researches have been conducted to develop catalysts with high activity, CH4 selectivity, and stability against the reaction heat. Catalytic conversion of CO2 to CO via the reverse water gas shift (RWGS) reaction has been identified as a promising approach for CO2 utilization and mitigation of CO2 emissions. Bare Pt shows low activity for the RWGS reaction due to its low oxophilicity, with few research works having concentrated on the inverse metal oxide/Pt catalyst for the RWGS reaction. In this work, MnOx was deposited on the Pt surface over a SiO2 support to prepare the MnOx/Pt inverse catalyst via a co-impregnation method. Addition of 0.5 wt% Mn to 1 wt% Pt/SiO2 improved the intrinsic reaction rate and turnover frequency at 400 °C by two and twelve times, respectively. Characterizations indicate that MnOx partially encapsulates the surface of the Pt particles and the coverage increases with increasing Mn content, which resembles the concept of strong metal–support interaction (SMSI). Although the surface accessible Pt sites are reduced, new MnOx/Pt interfacial perimeter sites are created, which provide both hydrogenation and C-O activation functionalities synergistically due to the close proximity between Pt and MnOx at the interface, and therefore improve the activity. Moreover, the stability is also significantly improved due to the coverage of Pt by MnOx. Background: The insulin/insulin-like signalling (IIS) pathway is common in mammals and invertebrates, and the IIS pathway is unknown in Fasciola gigantica. In the present study, the IIS pathway was reconstructed in F. gigantica. We defined the components involved in the IIS pathway and investigated the transcription profiles of these genes for all developmental stages of F. gigantica. In addition, the presence of these components in excretory and secretory products (ESPs) was predicted via signal peptide annotation. Results: The core components of the IIS pathway were detected in F. gigantica. Among these proteins, one ligand (FgILP) and one insulin-like molecule binding protein (FgIGFBP) were analysed. Interestingly, three receptors (FgIR-1/FgIR-2/FgIR-3) were detected, and a novel receptor, FgIR-3, was screened, suggesting novel functions. Fg14-3-3ζ, Fgirs, and Fgpp2a exhibited increased transcription in 42-day-old juveniles and 70-day-old juveniles, while Fgilp, Fgigfb, Fgsgk-1, Fgakt-1, Fgir-3, Fgpten, and Fgaap-1 exhibited increased transcription in metacercariae. FgILP, FgIGFBP, FgIR-2, FgIR-3, and two transcription factors (FgHSF-1 and FgSKN-1) were predicted to be present in FgESPs, indicating their exogenous roles. Conclusions: This study helps to elucidate the signal transduction pathway of IIS in F. gigantica, which will aid in understanding the interaction between flukes and hosts, as well as in understanding fluke developmental regulation, and will also lay a foundation for further characterisation of the IIS pathways of trematodes. The unprecedented increase of atmospheric CO2 concentration and the associated climate change calls for the urgent implementation of CO2 mitigation approaches. Among the various proposed measures, CO2 capture from several industrial point sources or directly from air and its subsequent hydrogenation via renewable H2 towards value-added products formation has gained particular attention. Specifically, the production of CO or CH4 is of great importance for the eventual generation of liquid fuels or synthetic natural gas, respectively. Herein, an overview of the state-of-the-art noble and non-noble metal-based catalysts employed for the thermocatalytic CO2 hydrogenation towards CO (reverse water–gas shift reaction, rWGS) or CH4 (Sabatier reaction) is elaborated. A brief description of fundamental considerations is initially provided for each reaction, involving thermodynamic, mechanistic and kinetics considerations. Then, the recent catalytic studies on rWGS and Sabatier reactions over both noble metal and non-noble metal catalysts (e.g., metal oxides, carbides, metal organic frameworks) are discussed from the perspective of structure–property relationships. Lastly, the most important conclusions arising from the comparative analysis of the most promising catalysts are summarized and are complemented with proposed outlooks associated with future directions towards the rational design of highly active and selective catalytic materials for each process. Transmembrane transport analysis is essential for understanding cell physiological processes. Based on an artificial simulation of internal and external cellular environment, this paper introduces an innovative approach to investigate the microscopic behavior of small molecules through porin protein under mechanical curvature of lipid membrane. A flexible device system is developed, enabling quantitative electronic transmembrane analysis. The key transistor comprises a flexible, microporous electrode covered with the support lipid bilayers (SLBs) to mimic artificial cellular membrane, serving as an extended gate of the field‐effect transistor (FET). The transmembrane behaviors of charged ions and small molecules can be effectively monitored in real time by this FET‐based flexible device system. The flexibility of the electrode allows analyzing the transmembrane behavior under different mechanical bends. In this study, the developed flexible device is employed for the first time to simulate the mechanical bending of cellular membrane embedded with channel proteins and to monitor the transmembrane behavior of small molecules, thus providing a more authentic representation of membrane protein at a curved state. This approach holds the potential to contribute as a platform‐based technological advancement, supporting research into toxicological mechanisms and facilitating drug screening endeavors. Seeds, as the initial products in agricultural systems, play a pivotal role in ensuring quality, fundamental to national food security and sustainable agricultural development. This study introduces a concept integrating public governance and evolutionary game theory to construct a quadripartite evolutionary game model involving seed companies, certification agencies, farmers, and governmental departments. It considers the strategic choices of these stakeholders under varying economic motivations and market mechanisms, as well as the influence of external regulation and incentives on game strategies. The existence conditions for evolutionarily stable strategy combinations are determined using the Lyapunov first method, and MATLAB is employed for numerical simulation analysis to validate the game analysis under initial conditions. The simulation results reveal two potential equilibrium points corresponding to different strategic choices among stakeholders. The study finds that producing high-quality seeds and the refusal of certification agencies to engage in rent-seeking are crucial for ensuring seed quality. Additionally, the cost–benefit ratio of seed companies, the speculative cost of certification agencies, and the rights-protection cost of farmers are key determinants in the evolution of seed quality assurance strategies. Thyroid hormones regulate metabolic rate, nutrient utilization, growth, and development. Swine are susceptible to thyroid suppression in response to disease or environmental conditions, but the physiological impact of such disruption has not been established. The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of hypothyroidism induced with the antithyroid medication methimazole (MMI). 10 mg/kg MMI significantly decreased circulating triiodothyronine (T3) for the duration of treatment but had only a transient effect on circulating thyroxine (T4). Thyroid tissue weight was significantly increased by more than 3.5‐fold in response to MMI treatment. Histologically, the eosinophilic colloid was largely absent from the thyroid follicle which displayed a disorganized columnar epithelium consistent with goiter. MMI induced hypothyroidism has no effect on growth rate over 28 days. Hepatic expression of genes associated with thyroid metabolism (DIO1, DIO2, and DIO3), lipid utilization (CD36, FASN, and ACACA), apoptosis (TP53, PERP, SIVA1, and SFN) and proliferation (CDK1, CDK2, CDK4, and CDKN1A) were unaffected by treatment. Collectively these results demonstrate that MMI induces mild systemic hypothyroidism and pronounced goiter, indicating a strong homeostatic central regulation within the hypothalamic pituitary thyroid axis. Sepsis poses a significant challenge in clinical management. Effective strategies targeting iron restriction, toxin neutralization, and inflammation regulation are crucial in combating sepsis. However, a comprehensive approach simultaneously targeting these multiple processes has not been established. Here, an engineered apoptotic extracellular vesicles (apoEVs) derived from macrophages is developed and their potential as multifunctional agents for sepsis treatment is investigated. The extensive macrophage apoptosis in a Staphylococcus aureus‐induced sepsis model is discovered, unexpectedly revealing a protective role for the host. Mechanistically, the protective effects are mediated by apoptotic macrophage‐released apoEVs, which bound iron‐containing proteins and neutralized α‐toxin through interaction with membrane receptors (transferrin receptor and A disintegrin and metalloprotease 10). To further enhance therapeutic efficiency, apoEVs are engineered by incorporating mesoporous silica nanoparticles preloaded with anti‐inflammatory agents (microRNA‐146a). These engineered apoEVs can capture iron and neutralize α‐toxin with their natural membrane while also regulating inflammation by releasing microRNA‐146a in phagocytes. Moreover, to exploit the microcosmic movement and rotation capabilities, erythrocytes are utilized to drive the engineered apoEVs. The erythrocytes‐driven engineered apoEVs demonstrate a high capacity for toxin and iron capture, ultimately providing protection against sepsis associated with high iron‐loaded conditions. Sulforaphane (SFN) is one of the hydrolysates of glucosinolates (GSLs), primarily derived from Brassica vegetables like broccoli. In clinical therapy, SFN has been proven to display antimicrobial, anticancer, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. However, the antimicrobial effects and mechanism of SFN against plant pathogens need to be further elucidated, which limits its application in agriculture. In this study, the genetic factors involved in SFN biosynthesis in 33 B. oleracea varieties were explored. The finding showed that besides the genetic background of different B. oleracea varieties, myrosinase and ESP genes play important roles in affecting SFN content. Subsequently, the molecular identification cards of these 33 B. oleracea varieties were constructed to rapidly assess their SFN biosynthetic ability. Furthermore, an optimized protocol for SFN extraction using low-cost broccoli curds was established, yielding SFN-enriched extracts (SFN-ee) containing up to 628.44 μg/g DW of SFN. The antimicrobial activity assay confirmed that SFN-ee obtained here remarkably inhibit the proliferation of nine tested microorganisms including four plant pathogens by destroying their membrane integrity. Additionally, the data demonstrated that exogenous application of SFN-ee could also induce ROS accumulation in broccoli leaves. These results indicated that SFN-ee should play a dual role in defense against plant pathogens by directly killing pathogenic cells and activating the ROS signaling pathway. These findings provide new evidence for the antimicrobial effect and mechanism of SFN against plant pathogens, and suggest that SFN-ee can be used as a natural plant antimicrobial agent for crop protection and food preservation. Silicon nanowire field effect (SiNW-FET) biosensors have been successfully used in the detection of nucleic acids, proteins and other molecules owing to their advantages of ultra-high sensitivity, high specificity, and label-free and immediate response. However, the presence of the Debye shielding effect in semiconductor devices severely reduces their detection sensitivity. In this paper, a three-dimensional stacked silicon nanosheet FET (3D-SiNS-FET) biosensor was studied for the high-sensitivity detection of nucleic acids. Based on the mainstream Gate-All-Around (GAA) fenestration process, a three-dimensional stacked structure with an 8 nm cavity spacing was designed and prepared, allowing modification of probe molecules within the stacked cavities. Furthermore, the advantage of the three-dimensional space can realize the upper and lower complementary detection, which can overcome the Debye shielding effect and realize high-sensitivity Point of Care Testing (POCT) at high ionic strength. The experimental results show that the minimum detection limit for 12-base DNA (4 nM) at 1 × PBS is less than 10 zM, and at a high concentration of 1 µM DNA, the sensitivity of the 3D-SiNS-FET is approximately 10 times higher than that of the planar devices. The choice of tea utensils used for brewing significantly impacts the sensory and chemical attributes of tea. In order to assess the influence of various tea sets on the flavor and chemical composition of different tea varieties, a combination of sensory evaluation and high-performance liquid chromatography was employed. The results showed that the content of amino acids in the tea liquid brewed with tin tea utensils was relatively higher, which could exhibit freshness in taste, thus suitable for brewing green tea and white tea. The content of polyphenols, soluble carbohydrates, and water extract in the tea liquid brewed with a porcelain tea set was relatively higher; the sweetness and thickness of the tea liquid were increased, so it was more beneficial to brew black tea. The purple sand tea set was suitable for brewing oolong tea and dark tea, and could endow their respective quality characteristics. Sulforaphane, a phytochemical found in cruciferous vegetables and various nutraceutical foods, plays a crucial role in promoting well-being and combating various diseases. Its remarkable effects are due to its intricate interactions with a wide range of proteins, some of which remain unidentified. In this study, taking advantage of bioinformatics tools for protein target prediction, we identified 11 proteins as potential targets of sulforaphane. Due to its biological relevance and their correlation with transcriptomic changes observed in sulforaphane-treated cells, the possible interaction between sulforaphane and nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT) was further investigated. A docking analysis suggested that sulforaphane is strategically positioned at the entrance of the channel through which substrates enter, thus bypassing the active site of the enzyme. By forming hydrogen bonds with residues K189, R349, and S275, sulforaphane establishes a linkage with NAMPT. Dynamic molecular analyses further corroborated these observations, illustrating that these bonds allow sulforaphane to associate with NAMPT, mimicking the behavior of a NAMPT activator (NAT), a known activating compound of this enzyme. A large amount of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane, are released during the production process of bioethanol and biogas. Converting CO2 into methane is a promising way of capturing CO2 and generating high-value gas. At present, CO2 methanation technology is still in the early stage. It requires high temperature (300–400 ℃) and pressure (> 1 MPa), leading to high cost and energy consumption. In this study, a new catalyst, Ni–Fe/Al–Ti, was developed. Compared with the activity of the common Ni/Al2O3 catalyst, that of the new catalyst was increased by 1/3, and its activation temperature was reduced by 100℃. The selectivity of methane was increased to 99%. In the experiment using simulated fermentation gas, the catalyst showed good catalytic activity and durability at a low temperature and atmospheric pressure. Based on the characterization of catalysts and the study of reaction mechanisms, this article innovatively proposed a Ni–Fe/Al–Ti quaternary catalytic system. Catalytic process was realized through the synergism of Al–Ti composite support and Ni–Fe promotion. The oxygen vacancies on the surface of the composite carrier and the higher activity metals and alloys promoted by Fe accelerate the capture and reduction of CO2. The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) plays a crucial role in cellular homeostasis. When ER stress is generated, an autophagic self-digestive process is activated to promote cell survival; however, cell death is induced in the case of excessive levels of ER stress. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of a natural compound called sulforaphane (SFN) upon ER stress. Our goal was to investigate how SFN-dependent autophagy activation affects different stages of ER stress induction. We approached our scientific analysis from a systems biological perspective using both theoretical and molecular biological techniques. We found that SFN induced the various cell-death mechanisms in a concentration- and time-dependent manner. The short SFN treatment at low concentrations promoted autophagy, whereas the longer treatment at higher concentrations activated cell death. We proved that SFN activated autophagy in a mTORC1-dependent manner and that the presence of ULK1 was required for its function. A low concentration of SFN pre- or co-treatment combined with short and long ER stress was able to promote cell survival via autophagy induction in each treatment, suggesting the potential medical importance of SFN in ER stress-related diseases. The present review revisits representative studies addressing the development of efficient Pd-based carbon-supported heterogeneous catalysts for two important reactions, namely, the production of hydrogen from formic acid and the hydrogenation of carbon dioxide into formic acid. The HCOOH-CO2 system is considered a promising couple for a hydrogen storage system involving an ideal carbon-neutral cycle. Significant advancements have been achieved in the catalysts designed to catalyze the dehydrogenation of formic acid under mild reaction conditions, while much effort is still needed to catalyze the challenging CO2 hydrogenation reaction. The design of Pd-based carbon-supported heterogeneous catalysts for these reactions encompasses both the modulation of the properties of the active phase (particle size, composition, and electronic properties) and the modification of the supports by means of the incorporation of nitrogen functional groups. These approaches are herein summarized to provide a compilation of the strategies followed in recent studies and to set the basis for a hydrogen storage system attained using the HCOOH-CO2 couple. The escalating production of processed prickly pear products has led to a substantial rise in waste materials, particularly peel, which is rich in bioactive chemicals and holds the potential for value-added product development. However, the high perishability of these peels imposes effective preservation techniques. So, this work aimed to explore the potential of prickly pear peels from O. ficus-indica 'Rossa', 'Gialla', and 'Bianca' cultivars for the production of Opuntia beverages, namely infusions. To achieve this goal, two distinct drying methods, namely microwave drying and a food dehydrator, were employed with the latter method, resulting in the higher recovery of phenolic compounds (0.5 mgGAE/mL vs. 0.16 mgGAE/mL) and the higher antioxidant capacity of the resulting infusions. Additionally, various steeping conditions involving water temperatures of 80, 90, and 100 °C were assessed to maximize the levels of phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity. The results demonstrate that the better overall drying method temperature and steeping conditions for the food dehydrator were at 35 °C and boiling water (100 °C) due to its generally better results and practicality. Sensorial trials revealed that the three infusions were generally accepted (score > 7.20 out of 9) but that O. ficus-indica 'Rossa' received the highest ratings. This study offers valuable insights for optimizing drying methods and steeping conditions to preserve and enhance the bioactive compounds and antioxidant potential in prickly pear peel infusions, promoting their sustainable utilization as functional ingredients in food and nutraceutical applications. Triple-negative breast Cancer (TNBC) is a highly malignant cancer with unclear pathogenesis. Within the tumor microenvironment (TME), cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) vitally influence tumor onset and progression. Thus, this research aimed to identify distinct subgroups of CAF using single-cell and TNBC-related information from the GEO and TCGA databases, respectively. The primary aim was to establish a novel predictive model based on the CAF features and their clinical relevance. Moreover, the CAFs were analyzed for their immune characteristics, response to immunotherapy, and sensitivity to different drugs. The developed predictive model demonstrated significant effectiveness in determining the prognosis of patients with TNBC, TME, and the immune landscape of the tumor. Of note, the expression of GPR34 was significantly higher in TNBC tissues compared to that in other breast cancer (non-TNBC) tissues, indicating that GPR34 plays a crucial role in the onset and progression of TNBC. In summary, this research has yielded a novel predictive model for TNBC that holds promise for the accurate prediction of prognosis and response to immunotherapy in patients with TNBC. The antioxidant capacity of numerous plant species with medical potential, as well as the tea plant (Camellia sinensis L.) have been extensively studied. On the other hand, such data for herbal tea blends, taken directly from the market are scarce. The aim of our study was to evaluate the antioxidant capacity and phenol content of tea and herbal tea blends available on Bulgarian market and to assess Haberlea rhodopensis leaves as a potential ingredient of herbal teas. We applied two methods to evaluate the antioxidant capacity - the Ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) and Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC) assays, after a two step procedure of processing and extraction of water-soluble and lipo-soluble antioxidants. We did not find a direct relationship between the content of phenols and the antioxidant capacity of the studied herbal teas. The commercial samples of Camellia sinensis L. (North Vietnam cultivation, Tikanium, Green tea) had the highest antioxidant capacity. According to TEAC and FRAP assay Common St John's wort, Oregano, and Garden sage showed antioxidant capacity close to that of Green tea. Maximum antioxidant capacity and, hence maximal health benefits could be obtained from ca. 30 min infusions of Roselle tea and especially Haberlea leaves. This makes cultivated Haberlea rhodopensis a valuable potential ingredient for new blends of herbal tea with high antioxidant capacity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Gastric cancer (GC) organoids are frequently used to examine cell proliferation and death as well as cancer development. Invasion/migration assay, xenotransplantation, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production were used to examine the effects of antioxidant drugs, including perillaldehyde (PEA), cinnamaldehyde (CA), and sulforaphane (SFN), on GC. PEA and CA repressed the proliferation of human GC organoids, whereas SFN enhanced it. Caspase 3 activities were also repressed on treatment with PEA and CA. Furthermore, the tumor formation and invasive activities were repressed on treatment with PEA and CA, whereas they were enhanced on treatment with SFN. These results in three-dimensional (3D)-GC organoids showed the different cancer development of phase II enzyme ligands in 2D-GC cells. ROS production and the expression of TP53, nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor (NRF2), and Jun dimerization protein 2 were also downregulated on treatment with PEA and CA, but not SFN. NRF2 knockdown reversed the effects of these antioxidant drugs on the invasive activities of the 3D-GC organoids. Moreover, ROS production was also inhibited by treatment with PEA and CA, but not SFN. Thus, NRF2 plays a key role in the differential effects of these antioxidant drugs on cancer progression in 3D-GC organoids. PEA and CA can potentially be new antitumorigenic therapeutics for GC. Nanozymes, which combine enzyme-like catalytic activity and the biological properties of nanomaterials, have been widely used in biomedical fields. Single-atom nanozymes (SANs) with atomically dispersed metal centers exhibit excellent biological catalytic activity due to the maximization of atomic utilization efficiency, unique metal coordination structures, and metal–support interaction, and their structure–activity relationship can also be clearly investigated. Therefore, they have become an emerging alternative to natural enzymes. This review summarizes the examples of nanocatalytic therapy based on SANs in tumor diagnosis and treatment in recent years, providing an overview of material classification, activity modulation, and therapeutic means. Next, we will delve into the therapeutic mechanism of SNAs in the tumor microenvironment and the advantages of synergistic multiple therapeutic modalities (e.g., chemodynamic therapy, sonodynamic therapy, photothermal therapy, chemotherapy, photodynamic therapy, sonothermal therapy, and gas therapy). In recent years, major economies have implemented carbon reduction and carbon neutrality policies. Furthermore, with advancements in science and technology, carbon dioxide (CO2) is now considered a valuable raw material for producing carbon-based fuels through hydrogenation. Various concentrations of yttrium (referred to as Y hereafter) were introduced to assess their influence on the catalytic performance of CO2 methanation. At a temperature of 300 °C, the catalyst exhibited an impressive CO2 conversion rate of 78.4% and maintained remarkable stability throughout a rigorous 100 h stability assessment. The findings suggest that the inclusion of yttrium (Y) promotes the formation of oxygen vacancies and alkaline sites on the catalyst. This, in turn, enhances the reducibility of nickel species, improves the dispersion of nickel particles, and plays a pivotal role in enhancing thermal stability. Furthermore, it offers an innovative design approach for creating highly efficient composite CO2 methanation catalysts by controlling particle size and harnessing synergistic catalytic effects at the metal/support interface. Sulforaphane (SFN) is a naturally occurring compound found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower. It has been widely studied for its potential as a neuroprotective and anticancer agent. This review aims to critically evaluate the current evidence supporting the neuroprotective and anticancer effects of SFN and the potential mechanisms through which it exerts these effects. SFN has been shown to exert neuroprotective effects through the activation of the Nrf2 pathway, the modulation of neuroinflammation, and epigenetic mechanisms. In cancer treatment, SFN has demonstrated the ability to selectively induce cell death in cancer cells, inhibit histone deacetylase, and sensitize cancer cells to chemotherapy. SFN has also shown chemoprotective properties through inhibiting phase I metabolizing enzymes, modulating phase II xenobiotic-metabolizing enzymes, and targeting cancer stem cells. In addition to its potential as a therapeutic agent for neurological disorders and cancer treatment, SFN has shown promise as a potential treatment for cerebral ischemic injury and intracranial hemorrhage. Finally, the ongoing and completed clinical trials on SFN suggest potential therapeutic benefits, but more research is needed to establish its effectiveness. This paper presents an alternative optical characterization of biosensors based on supported lipid monolayers (SLMs). Developing these biosensors requires precise thickness characterization of the films to understand their structure and dynamics. This paper proposes an optical technique to measure the thickness, optical properties, and location of a dipalmitoyl-phosphatidylcholine (DPPC) SLM on top of a metallic thin film. DPPC SLMs are of interest for biosensing applications, such as detecting pulmonary-related infections like SARS-CoV-2, Avian Influenza, and the H1N1 influenza virus. The monolayer was fabricated using the Langmuir–Blodgett technique, and the experimental characterization consisted of measuring the surface-plasmon resonance angle in the Kretschmann configuration. This technique provides an alternative option for real-time visual inspection and determination of the location and shape of DPPC monolayers in large areas. In this work we describe a straightforward approach for creating a nanocomposite comprising multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and titanium dioxide (TiO2) using the hydrothermal technique, which is then characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDS), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) to assess its properties. Nafion is employed as a reticular agent for the nanocomposite on the glassy carbon electrode (GCE), creating the MWCNT/TiO2/Nafion/GCE system. The electrochemical behavior of the system was evaluated using cyclic voltammetry, revealing its remarkable electrocatalytic activity for detecting hydrogen peroxide in water. The developed sensor showcased a broad linear response range of 14.00 to 120.00 μM, with a low detection limit of 4.00 μM. This electrochemical sensor provides a simple and highly sensitive method for detecting hydrogen peroxide in aqueous solutions and shows promising potential for various real-world applications, particularly in H2O2 monitoring. By means of liquid chromatography combined with high-resolution mass spectrometry, metabolite profiling was performed on an aqueous-ethanol extract from Spiraea hypericifolia (Rosaceae) collected in Siberia (Russia). Up to 140 compounds were found in the extract, of which 47 were tentatively identified. The identified compounds were amino acids, sugars, phenylpropanoids, fatty acids and their derivatives, triterpenoids, flavonoids, and others. A quantitative analysis showed the predominance of phenolcarboxylic acids and flavonoids in the studied extract, but a qualitative analysis revealed the higher structural diversity of flavonoids. Of the 23 identified flavonoids, 13 were flavonols: quercetin, hyperoside, isoquercitrin, reynoutrin, avicularin, rutin, quercetin-3-O-(6″-O-malonyl)-β-D-glucoside, 3-O-methylquercetin-3′-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, isorhamnetin, rhamnetin-3-O-β-D-xylopyranosyl-β-D-glucopyranoside, kaempferol, tiliroside, and trifolin; six were catechins: catechin, (−)-epicatechin, (+)-epicatechin, (+)-catechin-7-O-β-D-xyloside, (2S,3R)-3,5-dihydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-3,4-dihydro-2H-chromen-7-yl-β-D-glucopyranoside, and catechin 7-O-apiofuranoside; two are isoflavones: genistin and genistein; and one was a flavone (luteolin-4′-O-β-D-glucopyranoside) and another was an anthocyanidin (pelargonidin). The aqueous-ethanol extract from S. hypericifolia showed antioxidant activity (half-maximal inhibitory concentration 102.95 μg/mL), which was likely related to the high concentrations of phenolcarboxylic acids (229.6 mg/g), flavonoids (118.3 mg/g), and tannins (62.9 mg/g). Nanostructured metal oxide semiconductors have proven to be promising for the gas sensing domain. However, there are challenges associated with the fabrication of high-performance, low-to-room-temperature operation sensors for methane and other gases, including hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, and ammonia. The functional properties of these semiconducting oxides can be improved by altering the morphology, crystal size, shape, and topology. Zinc oxide (ZnO) is an attractive option for gas sensing, but the need for elevated operating temperatures has limited its practical use as a commercial gas sensor. In this work, we prepared ZnO nanorod (ZnO-NR) arrays and interconnected tetrapod ZnO (T-ZnO) network sensing platforms as chemiresistive methane sensors on silicon substrates with platinum interdigitated electrodes and systematically characterized their methane sensing response in addition to their structural and physical properties. We also conducted surface modification by photochemical-catalyzed palladium, Pd, and Pd-Ag alloy nanoparticles and compared the uniformly distributed Pd decoration versus arrayed dots. The sensing performance was assessed in terms of target gas response magnitude (RM) and response percentage (R) recorded by changes in electrical resistance upon exposure to varying methane concentration (100–10,000 ppm) under thermal (operating temperatures = 175, 200, 230 °C) and optical (UV A, 365 nm illumination) excitations alongside response/recovery times, and limit of detection quantification. Thin film sensing platforms based on T-ZnO exhibited the highest response at 200 °C (RM = 2.98; R = 66.4%) compared to ZnO-NR thin films at 230 °C (RM = 1.34; R = 25.5%), attributed to the interconnected network and effective bandgap and barrier height reduction of the T-ZnO. The Pd-Ag-catalyzed and Pd dot-catalyzed T-ZnO films had the fastest response and recovery rates at 200 °C and room temperature under UV excitation, due to the localized Pd nanoparticles dots resulting in nano Schottky barrier formation, as opposed to the films coated with uniformly distributed Pd nanoparticles. H2 has aroused significant attention as an unpolluted and renewable energy carrier. However, the efficient storage and controllable release of H2 are urgent to be addressed. Through the hydrogenation of CO2 (bicarbonate) to produce formic acid (formate) and reverse dehydrogenation reactions, a carbon-neutral formic acid-based hydrogen cycle system can be established. Given the excellent recyclability and facile separation of heterogeneous catalysis, the development of heterogeneous catalysts for these reversible interconversions is thoroughly summarized, with a special focus on the structure–activity relationship and the mechanistic insight. Finally, the challenges and opportunities surrounding the formic acid-based hydrogen cycle system are discussed. It is hoped that this review will provide guidance and an idea for the design and development of efficient heterogeneous catalysts for the carbon-neutral H2 storage and release system. The pericarp browning and postharvest microbiological decay of litchi fruit (Litchi chinensis Sonn cv Kwai Mai) significantly reduce its commercial potential in the fresh market. In this study, different combinations of modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) were applied at 5 ± 1 °C based on the use of natural gases that are innocuous to human health and an alternative to commercially adopted sulfur dioxide (SO2) treatment. The results showed that control fruits, after 6 days of storage, begin to show the first symptoms of decay, revealed by the appearance of lesions and microbial infections determined by total mesophilic microorganisms and molds. This is not the case in the MAP-treated fruits and the MAP 3-treated (5% O2 + 20% CO2 + 75% N2) fruits that show the best results. The control fruits, moreover, turned completely brown by the end of the storage period. The MAP 3 treatment was the most effective in preventing browning and the loss of the red pericarp color and vitamin content and in maintaining acceptable SSC/TA levels and flavor. In addition, a microbiological analysis revealed that all the MAP-treated litchi fruits did not harbor undesirable microorganisms during the entire cold storage period. In conclusion, the MAP 3 conditions delayed pericarp browning and maintained the better organoleptic quality of litchi fruits. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
