The Yulekenhalasu porphyry Cu-Mo deposit (0.2 Mt Cu at 1.04 wt% and 0.012 Mt Mo at 0.06 wt%) is located in the Devonian Halasu copper belt, East Junggar block, northwest China. At Yulekenhalasu, Cu and Mo mineralization commonly occurs as disseminated sulfides or veinlets in porphyry-related alteration zones. Five alteration stages have been identified, including porphyry-type alteration, i.e., sodic-calcic (stage I), potassic (stage IIa), propylitic (stage IIb), and phyllic (stage III) alteration, and widespread late Cu sulfide-bearing veins (stage IV) cross-cutting porphyry-type alteration, plus a post-ore fault-controlled argillic alteration (stage V). Stages IV and V have overprinted porphyry-type alteration (stages I–III). Anomalous concentrations of trace elements in stage IIb pyrite (e.g., Ti, Zr, Gd, and Hf) are due to the presence of micro-inclusions (e.g., zircon and rutile) in the low-temperature (~200 °C) propylitic zone. Cu, Ag, Co, and Mn, occurring as stoichiometric substitutions or as tetrahedrite inclusions in overprinting stage IV pyrite, were sourced directly from the primary hydrothermal fluid. The enrichment of distal pathfinder elements (e.g., Cr, Au, and Tl) in overprinting stage V pyrite was caused by a low-temperature (~160 °C) hydrothermal event related to regional orogenic Au mineralization. The spatial variation of Se/S in pyrite among various paragenetic stages were influenced by changes in the hydrothermal fluid composition and temperature, with the latter having the effect of decreasing pyrite Se/S. Lower Se concentrations in pyrite of stages IIb and III close to the orebody are explained by relatively higher temperatures in the locus of mineralization. This may provide a potential vectoring tool to mineralization using pyrite geochemistry in porphyry deposits. Systematic thermodynamic calibrations were applied to pyrite compositions to fingerprint the corresponding Se/S and Co/Ni ratios of fluids and further to develop a complete metallogenic model for Yulekenhalasu. The Devonian diorite porphyry generated fluids that produced the early porphyry-type alteration. High Co/Fe (average ~1 × 10–4) and Ni/Fe (average ~3 × 10–6) ratios of fluid for late Cu sulfide-bearing veins, combined with higher Se/S (average ~6 ×x 10–7) than orogenic Au deposits (average ~3 × 10–8), indicate that the fluids possibly derived from a Late Devonian-Carboniferous mafic intrusion. Argillic alteration assemblages forming at ca. 280 Ma host pyrite relatively enriched in Au (average 0.1 ppm, with native gold inclusions). Therefore it is likely related to a regional orogenic gold mineralizing event in the Early Permian that overprinted Devonian mineralization. Although spatially contiguous, hydrothermal alteration and hypogene mineralizing stages identified herein represent discrete episodes of hydrothermal activities at Yulekenhalasu. The multi-stage alteration features observed at Yulekenhalasu may provide insights into the complete evolutionary history of Paleozoic porphyry Cu deposit systems in the Central Asian orogenic belt. The Yulong porphyry copper belt in eastern Tibet is located in the middle of Tethys–Himalayan metallogenic mega-province, which is one of the three major porphyry copper metallogenic mega-provinces. The Yulong copper belt belongs to the super porphyry copper belt and represents one of the most important copper mineralization prospecting areas in China. A significant quantity of research data shows that this study area belongs to the environment of intracontinental collision and compression, with a complex geological structure, magmatic rock development and excellent metallogenic geological background. However, because this area is located in an alpine and high-altitude area, it is difficult to carry out any traditional field geological surveys, and the existing studies of both prospecting and prediction are relatively weak. This study focused on information extraction for alteration minerals in the Yulong metallogenic belt and its surroundings based on multispectral data and hyperspectral data, establishing a spectral library of alteration minerals in this area. Based on Sentinel-1A radar data and Landsat-8 OLI color synthesis data, the linear structure of the study area was interpreted. On this basis, the information extraction results relating to alteration minerals obtained from multi-source remote sensing data, linear structure interpretation results and the geochemical exploration data of the study area were superimposed to comprehensively analyze the metallogenic geological conditions and mineralization characteristics in the area, establish remote sensing prospecting indicators there and optimize the potential areas for prospecting, providing technical support for the next step of prospecting and exploration in the area. The Chagai belt to the north of the Afghan block and the east of the Iranian block in the western part of Pakistan is known for occurrence of Oligocene to Miocene calc‐alkaline magmatic belt. The present study discusses the characteristics of episodic magmatic activities that contributed to mineralization for the Reko Diq porphyry complex in the western part of the Chagai belt. U–Pb dating of zircons from volcanic rocks of the Reko Diq porphyry complex yielded ages of 25.8 ± 1.8 and 12.29 ± 0.44 Ma for two phases of magmatic crystallization. Geochemical analyses of whole‐rock rhyolite and dacite indicate that the rock units are peraluminous calc‐alkaline, derived from Andean‐type subduction. The magma was formed due to partial melting of the thickened mafic lower crust in a continental arc setting in relation to the subduction of the Neotethys along the Makran subduction zone. The abundance of zircons, Hf, REE, U/Pb and Th indicates high degrees of magmatic evolution. Moreover, the Sr and Nd isotopic data indicate the fractional contribution of depleted N‐MORB mantle to the Reko Diq magmas through bulk mixing with magmas derived from the lower continental crust. Short‐lived magmatic systems repeated magma injection, and various episodes of hydrothermal fluid flow have led to the formation of porphyry mineralization. Emplacement of the Reko Diq porphyry complex and related Cu–Au mineralization is associated with a series of tectonic–magmatic events at different episodes of the Oligocene–Miocene times. High sulphidation (HS) mineralization and associated advanced argillic alteration have been intersected by three drill holes below the Grasberg porphyry Cu-Au deposit, known as the Gajah Tidur prospect. The prospect is located between 1,500-2,750 m level, in Grasberg District, Papua, Indonesia. The holes are of KL98-10-21, KL98-10-22, and GRD39-08 which intersected 3.4 Ma Gajah Tidur monzonite, Grasberg Igneous Complex, the wall rocks of Kembelangan, and New Guinea Limestone Group. This research aims to determine the characteristics of high sulphidation mineralization associated with advanced argillic alteration at Gajah Tidur. Petrographic, XRD, SEM, fluid inclusion, and XRF (geochemical) analyses were applied to identify the mineralogy, geochemistry, and ore fluid properties. The major element plots show a differentiated intrusion. The alteration consists of potassic materials composed of biotite and K-feldspar, overprinted by phyllic and advanced argillic ones typified by alunite, pyrophyllite, and kaolinite. The high sulphidation mineralization characterized by pyrite-covellite, chalcopyrite-chalcocite, enargite, and digenite is also present. Fluid inclusion homogenization temperature of mineralized quartz vein ranges from 393 to 542°C, indicating a magmatic fluid origin predominantly. Two distinct porphyry systems, consisting of the Gajah Tidur Cu-Mo and the Main Grasberg Cu-Au porphyry systems are emplaced at the Gajah Tidur level. Advanced argillic is less intense compared to a pervasive phyllic alteration, overprinting the stockwork and surrounding rocks, emplaced at the upper part of quartz stockwork. It is possibly associated with a late stage of Gajah Tidur porphyry hydrothermal fluids which became cooler and highly acidic. Similar to other porphyry systems such as Oyu Tolgoi in Mongolia, the Gajah Tidur porphyry did not have its hydrothermal fluid ascent to the surface to form lithocap. The Shuangyuangou copper deposit is located in the southern segment of the Qinling orogenic belt in central China. The ore‐related intrusions include quartz diorite porphyry, granite porphyry and lamprophyre. In this study, we present whole‐rock geochemistry, zircon U–Pb geochronology, trace elements and Lu–Hf isotope data on the Shuangyuangou intrusions which provide critical constraints on the emplacement age, magma origin, petrogenesis and implications for porphyry Cu mineralization in this newly discovered deposit. Zircon U–Pb dating constrains the emplacement age of quartz diorite porphyry, lamprophyre and granite porphyry at 150–147 Ma. The quartz diorite porphyry and granite porphyry display high‐K calc–alkaline I‐type granite affiliation. The rocks show enrichment of LREE and LILE (Rb, Ba), depletion in HREE and HFSE (Nb, Ta, Ti) and absence of Eu anomaly. Zircon εHf(t) values of quartz diorite porphyry, lamprophyre and granite porphyry range from −7.5 to −1.7 with TDM2 ages of 1.3–1.6 Ga. Our data suggest that the parental magma was derived from partial melting of juvenile lower crust and metasomatic lithospheric mantle, with more involvement of mantle material for the lamprophyre. The zircon Eu/Eu* values of 0.55–0.78 suggest high magmatic water content which suppresses the fractionation of plagioclase. In addition, the ΔFMQ values calculated from zircon trace elements range from −0.90 to 2.96 which is a favourable factor for porphyry Cu mineralization at Shuangyuangou. The Late Jurassic Shuangyuangou intrusion and associated Cu mineralization were formed within an intracontinental setting after the collisional assembly of the Qinling orogenic belt. This article will place the rituals of the Greek Magical Papyri (PGM) for the acquisition of a supernatural assistant (paredros) into conversation with broader late antique debates surrounding the place of daimones within the celestial hierarchy. In considering the writings of Plotinus, Plutarch, Porphyry, and Iamblichus, it will survey points of contention surrounding questions of appropriate and inappropriate displays of ritual power, as facilitated by intermediary spirits who act as intercessors between humanity and the divine. Through analyzing the metaphysical underpinnings of the nature of the paredros, as variously articulated within the rituals for their conjuration within the Greek Magical Papyri, it will contextualize the aims of the ritualist against the backdrop of Iamblichus' theurgy in pursuit of mastery of—and intimate, transcendent communion with—the fundamental numinous nature of the world. In doing so, this article argues that Iamblichus' theurgy and the paredros rituals of the PGM ultimately grasp towards similar soteriological goals using different ritual methodologies; both seeking to elevate the incarnated body of the ritualist into a higher level of spiritual attainment through direct confrontation with the powers of nature. The Eocene Yulong porphyry copper belt (YPCB) in eastern Tibet contains more than 10 Mt of Cu metal, associated with subvolcanic to volcanic porphyry systems intruding Cenozoic sedimentary basins. Geochemical data analysis shows that all samples belonged to high-K calc-alkaline and shoshonite series with metaluminous–peraluminous characteristics, light rare earth elements and large ion lithophile elements enrichment, high field strength elements depletion, and share geochemical similarities to adakitic rocks. We have established a spatiotemporal evolution framework through geochronological data analysis, combined with calculated bulk zirconium saturation temperature, calculated crustal thickness and geophysical evidence. We identified three magmatic processes triggered by asthenospheric upwelling and thermal erosion of thickened crust: (1) ultrapotassic magma derived from metasomatized mantle; (2) coeval ultrapotassic melt that promoted the partial melting of eroded lower crust and the generation of high-K adakitic felsic melt; high-K and Mg# adakitic fertile magma was formed by interaction between the eroded sulfide-rich juvenile lower crust-derived melt and mantle peridotite; (3) high-K adakitic fertile magma was derived from sulfide-rich juvenile lower crust, triggered by injecting hydrous ultrapotassic magma into thinned lower crust. The difference between deposit size in the north/south section of Yulong belt may be caused by the temperature of magmatic source and the volume of coeval potassic–ultrapotassic magmatism. Our analysis of the YPCB suggests that magmatism after 175 Ma within Intermontane arc complex of the Canadian Cordillera has high potential for porphyry deposits. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Bayan-Uul porphyry Au-Cu-(Mo) deposit occurs within the Mongol–Okhotsk Orogenic Belt, which is a part of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt. To understand geotectonic, petrogenesis, mineralization, and ore-forming fluid evolution of the Bayan-Uul deposit, we report petrographic and geochemical analyses of host rocks, mineralogy of ores, and fluid inclusion characteristics. Based on petrographic and mineralogical analyses, Cu, Mo, and Au mineralization occurs as disseminated and sulfide-bearing quartz–tourmaline veins hosted within granodiorites, monzodiorites, and diorite porphyry and tourmaline breccia. Four main alteration assemblages are identified: potassic, phyllic, argillic, and quartz–tourmaline alteration. The ore mineralogy of quartz–tourmaline veinlets are classified into A-type veinlets (quartz + tourmaline + chalcopyrite + magnetite + pyrite ± electrum), B-type veinlets (quartz + tourmaline + molybdenum + chalcopyrite + pyrite), and C-type veinlets (quartz + tourmaline + pyrite ± chalcopyrite). Fluid inclusions are found in quartz–tourmaline veinlets consisting mainly of liquid-rich two-phase (L-type), vapor-rich two-phase (V-type), and solid-bearing multi-phase (S-type) inclusions. The homogenization temperatures for the fluid inclusions in A-type, B-type, and C-type veinlets range from 215 to 490°C, 215 to 500 °C, and 160 to 350 °C and their salinity varies from 5.4 to 43.5 wt.%, 16 to 51.1 wt.%, and 3.4 to 24.1 wt.% NaCl equivalent, respectively. Coexistance of (L-type), (V-type), and (S-type) inclusions support fluid boiling. The δ18O values of ore fluids from different mineralizing A-, B-, and C-type veins are 8.7‰, 10.9‰, and 8.4‰, respectively, and the δ34S values of sulfide minerals range from −1.4‰ to 5.3‰, which indicates magmatic origin. The Wunugetu deposit, a large-scale porphyry copper–molybdenum deposit, is located in the southern Erguna block. Its ore bodies are primarily found within monzogranites, granite porphyries, and biotite monzogranites. Additionally, the deposit contains late-stage intrusive dykes of rhyolitic porphyries. This study examined the deposit's monzogranites and rhyolitic porphyries using lithogeochemistry, zircon U-Pb dating, and Hf isotopic analysis. The main findings include: (1) Zircon U-Pb dating showed that the monzogranites formed around 209.0 ± 1.0 Ma, whereas the rhyolitic porphyries in the northern portion formed around 170.49 ± 0.81 Ma, suggesting magmatic activity in the deposit spanned from the Late Triassic to the Middle Jurassic. (2) The monzogranites exhibited high silicon content (73.16–80.47 wt.%) and relatively low aluminum content (10.98–14.37 wt.%). They are enriched in alkalis (content: 3.42–10.10 wt.%) and deficient in magnesium and sodium, with aluminum saturation indices (A/CNK) ranging from 1.1 to 2.9. In addition, the monzogranites are enriched in large-ion lithophile elements (LILEs) such as Rb, K, and Ba and deficient in high-field-strength elements (HFSEs) like Nb, P, and Ti. (3) The monzogranites have low Zr + Nb + Ce + Y contents of (151.3–298.6 ppm) × 10−6 and 10,000 × Ga/Al ratios varying between 1.20 and 2.33, suggesting that they are characteristic of I-type granites. (4) Positive zircon εHf(t) values ranging from +0.3 to +7.6 in both rhyolitic porphyry and monzogranite samples, increasing with younger emplacement ages, imply that the deposit's rocks originated from magmatic mixing between mantle-derived mafic magmas and remelts of the juvenile crust. Considering these results and the regional geological evolution, this study proposes that the Wunugetu deposit was formed in an active continental margin setting and was influenced by the Late Triassic–Middle Jurassic southeastward subduction of the Mongol-Okhotsk Ocean. The large Dongtangzi Zn-Pb deposit is located in the southwest of the Fengxian–Taibai (abbreviated as Fengtai) ore cluster in the west Qinling orogen. The origin of the deposit is controversial, positing diverse genesis mechanisms such as sedimentary-exhalative (SEDEX), sedimentary-reformed, and epigenetic-hydrothermal types. This study combines systematic ore geology observations with high-precision Rb-Sr and Sm-Nd ages of 211 Ma and in situ S-Pb isotopes to constrain the timing and origin of mineralization. In situ S-Pb isotopic studies show that the sulfide ores display a narrow range of δ34S values from 1.1‰ to 10.2‰, with 206Pb/204Pb, 207Pb/204Pb, and 208Pb/204Pb ratios of 18.07 to 18.27, 15.64 to 15.66, and 38.22 to 38.76, respectively. On the other hand, pyrites of the sedimentary period and the granite porphyry dike have δ34S values ranging from 15.8 to 21.4‰ and from 2.1 to 4.3‰ (with 206Pb/204Pb ratios of 18.09 to 18.10, 207Pb/204Pb ratios of 15.59 to 15.61, and 208Pb/204Pb ratios of 38.17 to 38.24), respectively. The above-mentioned S-Pb isotopic compositions indicate that the metallic materials involved in ore formation originated from a mixture of Triassic magmatic hydrothermal fluid and metamorphic basement. By integrating the regional geology, mineralization ages, and S-Pb isotopic studies, we propose that the Dongtangzi Zn-Pb deposit is the product of epigenetic hydrothermal fluid processes, driven by Late Triassic regional tectono-magmatic processes. Shoshonitic rocks are widely distributed in post-collisional settings and provide key information on deep geodynamic mechanisms and magmatic evolution. In this paper, we present petrographic, zircon U-Pb age-related, trace elemental, Hf isotopic, bulk-rock elemental, and Sr-Nd isotopic data of the Dalongtan shoshonitic syenite porphyries (DSSPs) in central Yunnan, southeastern Tibet. The DSSPs formed at 33.2 ± 0.3 Ma in a post-collisional setting. They define linear trends on Harker diagrams, and they display similar trace element patterns and enriched bulk-rock Sr-Nd isotopes [(87Sr/86Sr)i = 0.70964–0.70968, εNd(t) = −12.9 to −12.7] and zircon Hf isotopes (εHf(t) = −15.7 to −13.1) to the coeval mantle-derived potassic mafic rocks. This suggests that the DSSPs were fractionated from the lithospheric mantle-derived mafic magmas. The DSSPs, along with the coeval felsic and mafic magmatic rocks (37.2–32.3 Ma), exhibit a planar distribution on the SE Tibet and predate the left-lateral shearing of the Ailaoshan–Red River shear zone (ARSZ) (32–22 Ma), suggesting that there are no genetic relationships between them. The DSSPs have geochemical characteristics similar to those of A-type granites, with high total alkalinity (10.39–11.17 wt.%), HFSE concentrations (Zr + Nb + Ce + Y = 890.2–1054.3 ppm), Ga/Al ratios (10,000 × Ga/Al = 2.95–3.46), whole-rock zircon saturation temperatures (906–947 °C), and oxygen fugacity (ΔFMQ = +3.30–+4.65), indicating that they are products of the high-temperature melting of the lithosphere as a result of asthenosphere upwelling in extensional settings. Based on our data and regional observations, it is proposed that the generation of the DSSPs may be linked to the convective thinning of the thickened lithospheric mantle following the India–Asia collision. Prospecting for and exploiting buried mineral deposits is currently challenging. Given their high precision and resolution, reflection seismic methods might be useful in such applications involving deep mineral deposits. However, there are few open seismic datasets available from mineral deposit exploration, especially in hardrock environments. The world‐class Caosiyao porphyry Molybdenum deposit (1.76 Mt) in the Jining area of Inner Mongolia, China, is largely covered by loess layers, which poses challenges to its exploration. Seismic reflection surveys were conducted to help delineate the deep granite porphyry intrusions and associated orebodies. This paper presents the raw seismic reflection dataset from three profiles on the Caosiyao deposit area, which can be used as a standard dataset for reflection seismic processing in shallow coverage and hardrock areas. Situated at the juxtaposition of the Khondalite Belt and the Trans‐North China Orogen in the northern North China Craton, the Jining region hosts considerable known porphyry Mo deposits. The Pulang copper deposit, formed in the Late Triassic, is the largest porphyry Cu-Mo-Au deposit in the eastern Tethys, and its genetic type and mineralization potential have received widespread attention. Identifying the characteristics of ore-forming fluids and the sources of ore-forming materials in the deep and peripheral ore bodies of Pulang is particularly important for constructing a complete porphyry copper mineralization system. Based on detailed core logging and geological observations, this article provides extensive petrographic, fluid inclusion micro-thermometry, laser Raman spectroscopy, and H-O-S isotope data on the veins of the main mineralization stage (B veins) in the first mining area and eastern ore section of the Pulang porphyry copper deposit. The genetic correlation between the eastern ore section and the first mining area is clarified, and their mineralization potential is inferred. The results indicate that the deep vein bodies in the first mining area exhibit multi-stage characteristics, and the fluid in B veins exhibits both high-temperature and salinity characteristics. The magma-derived early ore-forming fluids underwent processes such as boiling and experienced immiscibility during meteoric water mixing, which could be the primary mechanism of the precipitation of Cu, Mo, Au, and other metals. The outer eastern ore section is located in a medium-to-low-temperature hydrothermal mineralization zone far from the mineralization center. Delineating and mapping alteration zones in porphyry copper exploration is of special importance. In this study, satellite image processing techniques were employed to highlight alteration zones in the Zafarghand exploration area. The Zafarghand area is located in the southeastern part of Ardestan and the northwestern part of Isfahan. It is situated within the geological structural zones of central Iran and the intermediate magmatic arc of Urmia-Dokhtar. Various alteration haloes are present in this area, including phyllic, potassic, propylitic, argillic, and slightly siliceous alterations. In this study, the detection of related alterations was carried out using ASTER sensor imagery. Accordingly, considering the raster nature and digital form of satellite images, the digital number values of each pixel from the image matrices were considered as samples in a systematic network. Finally, the U spatial statistic algorithm was implemented as a moving window algorithm for determining anomaly samples in the set of digital number (DN) values of ASTER satellite image pixels. The results of this technique show that the application of the U-statistic method, considering its structural nature and neighboring samples in decision-making, has been successful and has proven to be very effective in determining the alteration zones in the Zafarghand area. It could be observed the delineated propylitic alteration by the U-statistic method is closely associated with the defined zone of propylitic alteration, which is also consistent with the field and microscopic observation of the porphyry Cu mineralization in this alteration zone. It is also observed that the determined phyllic alteration by this image processing is spatially conformable with the sericitic alteration presented in the alteration map (based on field observations and geochemical sampling). In mineral exploration programs, reducing uncertainty and increasing exploration success have always been challenging issues. To modulate the above-mentioned uncertainty and increase exploration accomplishment, integration, and prospectivity analysis techniques are used for mineral exploration targeting. This paper aims to model the mineral potential of porphyry copper deposits in the Jiroft region, Kerman province. To achieve this goal and overcome the aforementioned issues resulting from the operation of complex ore-forming geological processes, continuous weighting methods through logistic functions were used while training points and analyst's opinions were not contributed to the weighting procedure. Then, to generate exploration targets, the weighted layers were combined with three different integration methods namely, artificial neural network, geometric average, and fuzzy gamma operators. The comparison of the model obtained from the application of an artificial neural network with those obtained by the geometric average and the fuzzy gamma operators using prediction rate-area plots indicated that all the models have good overall performance and acceptable prediction rate. However, the performance of the artificial neural network model is slightly less than that of the other two models. Thus, the targets generated using the geometric average and fuzzy gamma operators are more reliable for planning further exploration programs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Identification of geochemical anomalies is a critical task in mineral exploration targeting. Decades of research and technology have resulted in new algorithms and techniques for recognizing anomaly detection methods at various scales and sample media. However, algorithms cannot always reveal the true nature of geological processes. The mineral system concept may contribute to a better understanding of the geological processes required to form and preserve ore deposits at all spatial and temporal scales. The mineral systems concept investigates the geochemical processes occurring within mineral subsystems in soil samples from the porphyry prospect area. The Cu/(Al + Ca) index was used to compare Cu, Mo, and (Pb* Zn)/(Cu*Mo) to highlight the region of interest for mineral potential mapping and pioneer borehole drilling based on fluid-rock interaction and secondary processes (e.g., alteration, weathering, and leaching). The Mineral Prospectivity Map (MPM) is a powerful tool for identifying target areas for the exploration of undiscovered mineral deposits. In this study, a knowledge-driven Index overlay technique was utilized to create the MPM on a regional scale. The complex distribution patterns of geological features associated with mineral deposits were mapped and correlations between these features and mineral deposits were revealed by integrating geological, geophysical, hydrothermal alteration, and fault density data layers. It was found that 23% of the study area was highly prospective, with 77% of the known porphyry copper occurrences located within this area. The normalized density was equal to 3.35, indicating a significant relationship between the known porphyry copper occurrences and their occupied area. The MPM also identified potential tracts outside the known mineralized areas that can be used for exploration and quantitative assessment of undiscovered resources. This research presents a case study that employs the Fuzzy Ordered Weighted Averaging (FOWA) method to develop mineral prospectivity/potential maps (MPM) for the Chahargonbad district in southeastern Iran. The primary objective of the study is to uncover intricate and concealed relationships between various evidence layers and known ore occurrences through a comprehensive analysis of multidisciplinary geospatial data. Consequently, thirteen evidence layers were meticulously derived from existing databases, encompassing geological, geochemical, geophysical, and remote sensing data, which were then integrated using the FOWA multi-criteria decision-making approach to delineate favorable zones for porphyry Cu mineralization. The FOWA methodology employs a diverse array of decision strategies to synthesize input geospatial evidence by incorporating multiple values for an alpha parameter. This parameter serves as the cornerstone of the algorithm, influencing experts' perspectives on MPM risk. The methodology generates seven mineral potential maps to identify the most suitable one(s). By considering a prediction-area plot for datadriven weight assignment to each evidence map, the hybrid FOWA outputs were scrutinized to pinpoint the most appropriate map for targeting significant Cu occurrences. The resulting synthesized evidence map indicates an ore prediction rate of 77%, with known Cu deposits primarily located within favorable zones occupying 23% of the entire district area. The Dasuji giant porphyry molybdenum deposit is one of the largest ore deposits recently discovered along the Yinshan–Yanshan–Liaoning molybdenum belt in China. Using this deposit along the Yinshan–Yanshan–Liaoning molybdenum belt as the study area, the present study proposed a two-stage approach aimed at marking out the hydrothermally altered anomalies in the study area for the guidance of future prospecting in other regions. First of all, the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and specific Band Ratio methods were applied to the ASTER images from different acquisition dates to extract ferric oxides and hydroxyl alterations related to the porphyry molybdenum deposit. Then, the Fractal-Aided Anomaly-Overlaying Selection model was adopted to recognize two ferric and hydroxyl alteration layers for separating anomalies from the interferences caused by geology and random noise from the data. Furthermore, for lithological differentiation in the previously marked off area, the Random Forest Classifier (RFC) was applied to the composite data obtained via the ASTER, ETM, and DEM, and it is demonstrated that the DEM can significantly improve lithological mapping in areas with complex vegetation cover and topography. Based on field verification and comparison with geological maps, the research revealed that the suggested two-stage approach may effectively reduce erroneously recognized anomalies produced during the first stage while retaining ore-related anomalies for gigantic porphyry molybdenum deposit prospecting in the Dasuji area, which showed the good application potential of the proposed model to extract actual hydrothermally altered anomalies adopted for lithological discrimination and mapping. Volatile saturation influences the physicochemical behavior of magmas and is essential for the sequestration of metals in porphyry copper deposits. Tracking the evolution of volatile components (F, Cl, H2O, S) in arc systems is complicated by their mobility and tendency to rapidly re-equilibrate with late-stage melts. We demonstrate that accurate measurements of volatile concentrations in apatite offer a reliable method for identifying the occurrence of volatile saturation. Fluorine, Cl, S, and calculated OH concentrations in apatite obtained by scanning electron microscope-energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and electron microprobe analysis were used to compare two end-member volcanic systems in the West Luzon Arc (Philippines): Pinatubo (a fluid-saturated analogue for porphyry copper deposits) and Taal (a barren and fluid-undersaturated comparator). Apatites from Pinatubo are S-rich (0.04-0.64 wt%) and show a progressive decrease in XCl/XOH (0.6-0.25) and an increase in XF/XCl (1.5-8) and XF/XOH (0.75-1.2) during crystallization. Modeling indicates that these changes result from efficient partitioning of Cl into a continuously saturated H2O-rich fluid, while high regions of S in apatite reflect episodic flushing by a separate S-rich flux. Little S is evident in apatites from Taal (<300 ppm), which show increasing XCl/XOH and XF/XOH together with constant XF/XCl during crystallization. This cannot be explained using an H2O-saturated model, and instead reflects fluid-undersaturated crystallization and cooling in a reduced and/or S-depleted system. Measured volatiles in apatite therefore effectively discriminate volatile-saturated and undersaturated magmatic systems, providing an important 'fertility' filter for porphyry exploration. The current debate on volcanic-plutonic connection is centered on whether eficient liquid-crystal segregation dominates the evolution of a mushy reservoir to produce evolved, crystal-poor rhyolite and cumulate leftover. However, magma recharge may remarkably influence the evolution of a mushy reservoir and obscure the evidence of liquid-crystal segregation. This complexity poses a challenge to exploring the connection of volcanic-plutonic rocks. This study investigates the Qinzhou Bay granitic complex (~250–248 Ma) from South China, which contains crystal-poor (<19 vol%) peraluminous rhyolites and subsequent crystal-rich (28–54 vol%) porphyries. Although the rhyolite and porphyry units have a close spatio-temporal link, they do not share a fractionation trend and similar whole-rock Sr-Nd-O isotopic compositions; thus, a direct connection is not evidenced. We further present textural analyses, mineral and melt inclusion compositions, thermobarometry (the combination of Ti-in-zircon thermometer and Ti-in-quartz thermobarometer), and thermodynamic modeling to examine the alternative interpretations, i.e., the two units may have intrinsically independent origins or the connection of the two units has been obscured. For the rhyolite unit, thermobarometric results reveal a polybaric storage system consisting of middle (>600 ± 80 MPa) and upper (~150 ± 40 and ~60 ± 20 MPa) crustal reservoirs. Variations in quartz Fe content and chlorine-rich, metaluminous melt inclusions suggest that magma hybridization with less-evolved metaluminous magmas occurred at both crustal levels. In particular, the elevated Fe contents in the quartz population that crystallized at the shallowest level (~60 ± 20 MPa) suggest that recharge magmas were directly injected into the shallowest reservoir. Deviation of the whole-rock composition from the liquid evolution trend recorded in melt inclusions suggests a combined efect of magma mixing and crystal-melt segregation processes in upper crustal reservoirs. Thermodynamic modeling and mass balance calculations suggest that the whole-rock composition of the rhyolite could be reproduced by mixing between regionally exposed dacites and segregated melts at crystallinities of 50–60% (using parental magma represented by the least-evolved melt inclusion). For the porphyry unit, thermobarometric results reveal magma storage at middle (more than 450 ± 40 to 550 ± 40 MPa) and upper (110 ± 20 to 140 ± 20 MPa) crustal levels. The small-scale oscillatory zonation of plagioclase, the pervasive resorption of quartz and alkali feldspar, and the presence of peraluminous microgranular enclaves in the porphyries suggest a recharge event of metasediment-sourced magmas, triggering reactivation and convection of the reservoir. Autoclastic and overgrowth textures of quartz, plagioclase, and alkali feldspar phenocrysts and development of columnar jointing suggest that the reactivated porphyritic magmas ascended and emplaced at ultrashallow levels (~30 ± 10 MPa). Because of the similar storage pressures, the porphyries may represent remobilized cumulates of rhyolitic magmas, whereas the texture and geochemistry of the cumulate-liquid pair were modified, a key factor rendering a cryptic connection between the rhyolite and porphyry. Alternatively, the plumbing systems feeding the rhyolite and porphyry units are horizontally independent or vertically discrete, but this circumstance is inconsistent with the same evolution trend of quartz Fe and Al contents of the rhyolite and porphyry. Our study highlights that whole-rock composition may record blended information of complex processes, and caution should be taken when whole-rock composition is used to extract information of a single process. Multi-method constraints are required to evaluate the influence of recharge processes on the modification of liquid-cumulate records, and big data analysis on the basis of geochemistry should be conducted with caution to avoid biased understanding. The research interest for many authors has been focused on the origin, recovery, and exploration of critical metals, including platinum-group elements (PGEs), with the aim of finding new potential sources. Many giant porphyry Cu deposits are well known around the Pacific Rim, in the Balkan–Carpathian system, Himalayas, China, and Malaysia. However, only certain porphyry Cu-Au deposits are characterized by the presence of significant Pd and Pt contents (up to 20 ppm). This contribution provides new analytical data on porphyry-Cu-Au±Pd±Pt deposits from the Chalkidiki Peninsula and an overview of the existing geochemical characteristics of selected porphyry-Cu deposits worldwide in order to define significant differences between PGE-fertile and PGE-poor porphyry-Cu intrusions. The larger Mg, Cr, Ni, Co, and Re contents and smaller LILE elements (Ba and Sr) in fertile porphyry-Cu-Au-(PGE) reflect the larger contribution from the mantle to the parent magmas. In contrast, the smaller Mg, Cr, Ni, Co, and Re contents and larger Ba and Sr in PGE-poor porphyry-Cu-Mo deposits from the Chalkidiki Peninsula (Vathi, Pontokerasia, and Gerakario) and Russia–Mongolia suggest the presence of parent magmas with a more crustal contribution. Although there is an overlap in the plots of those elements, probably due to the evolution of the ore-forming system, consideration of the maximum contents of Mg, Cr, Ni, and Co is proposed. Magnetite which separated from the mineralized Skouries porphyry of Greece showed small negative Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* ≥ 0.55), reflecting a relatively high oxidation state during the cooling of the ore-forming system. The relatively high, up to 6 ppm (Pd+Pt), and low Cr content towards the transition from the porphyry to epithermal environment, coupled with the occurrence of Pd, Te, and Se minerals (merenskyite, clausthalite), and tetrahedrite–tennantite in fertile porphyry Cu deposits (Elatsite deposit, Bulgaria), reflect a highly fractionated ore-forming system. Thus, in addition to the crustal and mantle recycling, metasomatism, high oxidation state, and abundant magmatic water, other factors required for the origin of fertile porphyry-Cu deposits are the critical degree of mantle melting to release Pt and Pd in the ore-forming fluids and the degree of fractionation, as reflected in the mineral chemistry and geochemical data. Highly fractionated granites are widely distributed in the crust and provide unique windows into magmatic evolution. This study reports petrography, zircon U–Pb ages, trace elemental, and Hf isotopic, as well as whole-rock elemental and Nd isotopic data of highly fractionated granite porphyries from the Shiguanshan area in western Yunnan, southeastern Tibet. The granite porphyries were formed at 34.0 ± 0.3 Ma in a post-collisional setting. They are strongly peraluminous (A/CNK = 1.95–2.80), have high SiO2 content (SiO2 = 78.16–79.13 wt.%) and zircon saturation temperatures (803–829 °C, average 819 °C), and low MgO, with pronounced enrichment in Pb, U, Th, and Rb, and depletion in Ti, Eu, P, Sr, and Ba, and belong to highly fractionated A-type granites. These rocks define linear trends on Harker diagrams and display similar enriched whole-rock Nd isotopic (εNd(t) = −12.8 to −12.3) and zircon Hf isotopic (εHf(t) = −10.4 to −8.8) compositions compared to the published data of coeval mantle-derived syenite porphyries, which can be attributed to fractional crystallization processes. A quantitative model suggests that the Shiguanshan granite porphyries likely formed through the fractionation process of a mineral assemblage consisting of plagioclase, K-feldspar, biotite, and amphibole (in a ratio of 40:30:25:5), with fractionation degrees of 50%–55%. The magmatic textures and zircons, decoupling between the REE tetrad effect and fractionation of twin-elements, along with the modeling result of Rayleigh fractionation, suggest that the REE tetrad effect in the Shiguanshan granite porphyries may be caused by fractionation of accessory minerals. Our data, along with regional observations, propose that the generation of these granite porphyries is possibly related to lithospheric removal following the Indo–Asia collision. The Hongyuan porphyry Mo–Cu deposit (PMCD) is a rare example of a "reduced" deposit, in contrast to classical oxidized porphyry Cu or Mo–Cu deposits. It is characterized by an ilmenite–series I–type felsic granitoid intrusion, reduced ore‐forming fluids with methane‐rich fluid inclusions, and widely distributed primary pyrrhotite. Mo–Cu mineralization in the Hongyuan PMCD occurs as disseminated in porphyry, granular in miarolitic cavity, and vein‐type in the quartz vein. These three types of mineralization are generally produced in the late magmatic period, magmatic‐hydrothermal transition period, and hydrothermal period, respectively. Molybdenite from miarolitic cavities shows a greater contribution from mantle fluid, as evidenced by mantle He proportions of 37.6%–16.8%. Molybdenite in quartz veins has relatively lower mantle He proportions of 1.63%–10.5%, indicating a predominantly crustal fluid source. The 3He/4He variations of these two groups of molybdenite illustrate an increasing input of crustal fluid during the magmatic to hydrothermal transition. Molybdenite samples from miarolitic cavities and quartz veins yield a Re‐Os model age of 300.5 ± 3.7 Ma, which is consistent with the U–Pb ages of zircons in the wallrock porphyries (300–302 Ma). This further indicates simultaneous diagenesis accompanied by mineralization. The Sr–Nd isotopic compositions (initial 87Sr/86Sr: 0.703404–0.703552; initial 143Nd/144Nd: 0.512585–0.512655; εNd[t]: +6.56 to +7.90) and young T2DM model ages (421–531 Ma) of the Hongyuan porphyries suggest that these rocks were derived from partial melting of the basaltic lower crust. We propose that mantle‐derived fluids rose up and mixed with fluids from the lower crust under an extensional tectonic setting, forming mantle‐like Sr–Nd–He–Ar isotopic compositions. The pre‐mineralization stage of the Hongyuan reduced PMCD is marked by quartz‐molybdenite ± K‐feldspar ± pyrite veins or veinlets and miarolitic cavities in the intensively potassic alteration zone. These veins formed at high temperatures (400–476°C) and high salinities (47.5–56.6 wt.%). The syn‐mineralization stage is the main metallogenic stage represented by numerous quartz‐molybdenite ± pyrrhotite veins associated with moderate to high temperatures (248°C–424°C) and low to high salinities (1.57–50.1 wt.%). The post‐mineralization stage is characterized by low temperatures (104–270°C) and low salinities (0.35–8.81 wt.%). Fluid immiscibility, mixing with meteoric water, ore fluid‐wall rock interactions, and decreasing temperature and salinity have played important roles during molybdenum mineralization. The Bangongco–Nujiang metallogenic belt of Tibet is a main suture zone in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau, which is known as an important porphyry–epithermal–skarn Cu-polymetallic mineralization zone in China. The western part of the Bangongco–Nujiang metallogenic belt exposes several medium high-silica terrestrial alkaline volcanic rocks with strong alteration influenced by collision orogeny. Some research has shown that clues to mineralization such as malachite and gossan are found on the surface. However, volcanic rock areas with varied topography place a huge burden on geological investigation, and the existing research on predicting mineralization is relatively scarce. This paper describes the extraction of alteration mineral information based on medium spatial resolution and hyperspectral resolution images, establishing a spectral library of alteration minerals in this area. By analyzing radar data, digital elevation, and synthesis results of different spectral bands, we combine remote sensing with geographic information technology to establish crater markers. The extraction results from multisource and chemical exploration data are superimposed onto the analysis of mineralization characteristics and geological conditions so as to establish the mineralization signatures for terrestrial volcanic rock areas. This article presents data on the composition of biotite from igneous rocks of the Shakhtama complex, which are associated with various types of mineralization in Eastern Transbaikalia: Au-Cu-Fe-skarn, skarn-porphyry, Mo-porphyry, rare-metal–greisen, Au-polymetallic and Au-Bi. The major element and halogen contents were determined by EPMA. The content of trace elements was determined by means of LA-ICP-MS. As a result, the specific traits of the composition of the biotite of igneous rocks associated with specific types of mineralization of the Eastern Transbaikalia were determined. The biotites of rare-metal–greisen deposits are characterized by the maximum content of fluorine (>2 wt. %) and low chlorine content (<0.04 wt. %). In addition, such biotites are characterized by high XFe (>0.47). Within Eastern Transbaikalia, igneous rocks developed at the Bystrinsky deposit are potentially ore-bearing for the "classic" porphyry type of mineralization. They have the highest values of IV(F/Cl) (4.9–7.1) and IV(F) (2–2.8) and the lowest values of Log(XMg/XFe) (0.1–0.4). The trace element composition clearly distinguishes biotites from rare-metal–greisen deposits and is identified by the highest contents (ppm) Ga > 65, Li > 600, Sn > 20, Mn > 2000, Cs > 50, Zn > 600. Biotites of Au-polymetallic and Au-Bi deposits occupy an average position between rare-metal–greisen and Mo-porphyry ones. Biotites of Mo-porphyry deposits differ in minimum values (ppm) of Sn < 3, Zn < 160, and low values of Li (150–290), V (290–440), and Ga (39–48). In general, the chemical composition of biotites shows that the degree of igneous rock fractionation of deposits increases in the series: porphyry–skarn–polymetallic–rare-metal. The study area is located 12 km south of Zahedan city in Sistan-Baluchestan province. This area includes the northern part of Sistan and Baluchestan province, which has a similar geological history as the Chagai belt beyond the Iranian border in Pakistan. The porphyry prospect south of Zahedan is located in the fertile belt of the Sistan suture zone, which includes the Janja, Siastragi, Chahuk, and Kuh-e-Lar mineral deposits, then leading to the Sindak Pakistan Molybdenum Porphyry Mine. Based on the results of the geological mapping of 1: 5,000 areas, a series of subvolcanic masses with intermediate chemical composition (related to the Zahedan granitoid) have been intruded into the sedimentary host rocks with flysch facies. The zoning of alterations occurrence in the region is concentric and with the center of phyllic and potassic alteration. Pyrite is the most abundant sulfide mineral and chalcopyrite is the main copper ore mineral. Mo and Cu mineralization in this area mainly occurred as veinlets in stockwork and disseminated texture. Based on scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies and using EDS analysis, the presence of molybdenite, and copper sulfide minerals were detected along with electrum and gold inclusions in the collected samples. Most of the detected fluid inclusions in the study area are of the two, three, and multiphase types, including liquid, vapor, and solid. Due to the trend of salinity changes versus homogenization temperature, the effective fluid densities in the mineralization systems of the region are between 0.8 and more than 1.2 gr / cm3. Based on the salinity percentage (30 to 60 wt% NaCl equivalent) and homogenization temperature (200 to 500°C), the fluid inclusions of the region are in the porphyry range. Fluid d34S values in the study samples are in the range of 3.4 to 4.6 per thousand. Sulfur isotope analyses indicate a magmatic origin of hydrothermal fluid. In general, based on the geology, mineralization, fluid inclusion, and sulfur stable Isotope studies it can be proposed that probably the south Zahedan area is a copper, gold, and molybdenum-type porphyry deposit. Northwest Zhejiang area (NWZJ) is one of the important parts of the large Qingzhou-Hangzhou mineralized belt in South China formed during the Late Jurassic–Early Cretaceous period. Through the study of zircon LA-ICPMS U-Pb dating, whole-rock geochemistry, and Sr-Nd isotopes for the Wujinshan granitoid in NWZJ, two distinct S-type granitic rocks of porphyry type granodiorite and granite were identified, and the two ages of 146.4 ± 1.5 Ma for granodiorite porphyry and 141.9 ± 1.4 Ma for granite porphyries were obtained. These rocks exhibited a geochemical affinity for S-type granitoid, and the two magmatic ages indicate that these rocks were intruded in two magmatic pulses. The Late Jurassic granodiorite porphyry showed moderate SiO2 (64.38–67.89 wt.%) with higher K2O + Na2O (6.22–6.78 wt.%), lower K2O/Na2O (0.57–0.96), moderate Zr (170–215 ppm), high Sr (302–475 ppm), and low Mg# (31–32) contents. The Early Cretaceous granite porphyries contained high SiO2 (69.68–74.85 wt.%), variable K2O + Na2O (4.60–6.99), high K2O/Na2O (1.72–23.53), slightly higher Zr (160–255 ppm), variable Sr (25–412 ppm), and very low to intermediate Mg# (13–44). The granodiorites had intermediate ∑REE (149–177 ppm), while granite samples showed moderate to high ∑REE content (147–271 ppm), and both rocks showed negative Eu anomalies (0.18–0.29). We propose that these two rocks were predominantly generated by the partial melting of Mesoproterozoic metamorphic basement and underwent variable degrees of fractionation and evolution. The Late Jurassic granodiorite porphyry was formed by the partial melting of Mesoproterozoic metamorphic basement with slab-derived melts or basaltic lower crust input following fractional crystallization, while the Early Cretaceous granite porphyries were generated by the partial melting of Mesoproterozoic metamorphic basement and crystal fractionation with variable magma mixing and assimilation in the upper crust. The Lower Urgen molybdenum deposit (44,856 t Mo @ 0.141%), situated in the northern Great Xing'an Range, is a newly discovered porphyry molybdenum deposit. Mineralization is characterized by veinlet-disseminated- and vein-type quartz–sulfide orebodies primarily occurring in the cupola of the Early Cretaceous granite porphyry stock. In this study, we present a detailed description of the ore geology, molybdenite Re-Os dating, H-O-S-Pb isotopic compositions, and fluid inclusion (FI) analyses including petrography, laser Raman, and microthermometry to precisely constrain the timing of ore formation, the origin of ore-forming fluids and materials, as well as the metal precipitation mechanism. Molybdenite Re-Os dating yielded two model ages of 141.2 ± 1.5 and 147.7 ± 1.7 Ma, coeval with the regional Late Jurassic–Early Cretaceous molybdenum metallogenesis. The hydrothermal process can be divided into three stages: the quartz–molybdenite(–pyrite) stage, quartz–polymetallic sulfide stage, and quartz–carbonate stage. Four types of FIs were distinguished for quartz, including two-phase liquid-rich (L-type), saline (S-type), CO2-rich (C1-type), and CO2-bearing (C2-type) FIs. Microthermometric data showed that the homogenization temperatures and salinities from the early to late stages were 240–430 °C, 5.0–11.9, and 30.1–50.8 wt% NaCl equiv.; 180–280 °C and 3.0–9.1 wt% NaCl equiv.; and 120–220 °C and 0.2–7.9 wt% NaCl equiv., respectively, suggesting a decreasing trend. H-O isotopic compositions indicate that the ore-forming fluids were initially of magmatic origin with the increasing incorporation of meteoric water. S-Pb isotopic compositions indicate that the ore-forming materials originated from granitic magmas, and the mineralization is genetically related to the ore-bearing granite porphyry stock in the deposit. Fluid immiscibility and fluid–rock interaction are collectively responsible for the massive deposition of molybdenite in stage 1, whereas fluid mixing and immiscibility played a critical role in the deposition of polymetallic sulfide in stage 2. Fluorine-rich granites and rhyolites occur throughout the southern Rocky Mountains, but the origin of F-enrichment has remained unclear. We test if F-enrichment could be inherited from ancient mafic lower crust by: (1) measuring amphibole compositions, including F and Cl contents, of lower crustal mafic granulite xenoliths from northern Colorado to determine if they are unusually enriched in halogens; (2) analyzing whole-rock elemental and Sr, Nd, and Pb isotopic compositions for upper crustal Cretaceous to Oligocene igneous rocks in Colorado to evaluate their sources; and (3) comparing batch melting models of mafic lower crustal source rocks to melt F and Cl abundances derived from biotite data from the F-rich silicic Never Summer batholith. This approach allows us to better determine if the mafic lower crust was pre-enriched in F, if it is concentrated enough to generate F-rich anatectic melts, and if geochemical data support an ancient lower crustal origin for the F-rich rocks in the southern Rocky Mountains. Electron microprobe analyses of amphibole in lower crustal mafic granulite xenoliths show they contain 0.56–1.38 wt% F and 0.45–0.73 wt% Cl. Titanium in calcium amphibole thermometry indicates that the amphiboles equilibrated at high to ultrahigh temperature conditions (805 to 940 °C), and semiquantitative amphibole thermobarometry indicates the amphiboles equilibrated at 0.5 to 1.0 GPa prior to entrainment in magmas during the Devonian. Mass balance calculations, based on these new measurements, indicate parts of the mafic lower crust in Colorado are at least 3.5 times more enriched in F than average mafic lower crust. Intrusions coeval with the Laramide Orogeny (75 to 38 Ma) pre-date F-rich magmatism in Colorado and have Sr and Nd isotopic compositions consistent with mafic lower crust ± mantle sources, but many of these intrusions contain elevated Sr/Y ratios (>40) that suggest amphibole was a stable phase during magma generation. The F-rich igneous rocks from the Never Summer igneous complex and Colorado Mineral Belt also have Sr and Nd isotopic compositions that overlap with the lower crustal mafic granulite xenoliths, but they have lower Sr/Y, higher Nb and Y abundances, and distinctly less radiogenic 206Pb/204Pbi compositions than preceding Laramide magmatism. Batch melt modeling indicates low-degree partial melts derived from rocks similar to the mafic lower crustal xenoliths we analyzed can yield silicic melts with >2000 ppm F, similar to estimated F melt concentrations for silicic melts that are interpreted to be parental to evolved leucogranites. We suggest that F-rich silicic melts in the southern Rocky Mountains were sourced from garnet-free mafic lower crust, and that fluid-absent breakdown of amphibole in ultrahigh temperature metamorphic rocks was a key process in their generation. Based on the composition of high-F amphibole measured from lower crustal xenoliths, the temperature of amphibole breakdown and melt generation for these F-enriched source rocks is likely >100 °C higher than similar lower crust with low or average F abundances. As such, these source rocks only melted during periods of unusually high heat flow into the lower crust, such as during an influx of mantle-derived magmas related to rifting or the post-Laramide ignimbrite flare-up in the region. These data have direct implications for the genesis of porphyry Mo mineralization, because they indicate that pre-enrichment of F in the deep crust could be a necessary condition for later anatexis and generation of F-rich magmas. Volatile element abundance is a crucial factor triggering mineralization and controlling the enrichment of molybdenum in porphyry deposits. The Chalukou deposit is the largest porphyry Mo deposit in NE China, with an average grade of 0.087% Mo. In this contribution, we present petrology, bulk geochemistry, zircon U–Pb geochronology and Lu–Hf isotopes, and apatite geochemistry for the Chalukou deposit. The intrusive rocks include pre‐mineralization monzogranite, syn‐mineralization quartz porphyry, fine‐grained porphyry and granite porphyry, and post‐mineralization monzogranite and feldspar porphyry. These granitoids are metaluminous to peraluminous, and belong to alkali‐calcic to calc‐alkalic series. Zircon εHf(t) values of granitoids range from +0.2 to +5.7 with corresponding Hf crustal model ages of 805–1170 Ma, indicating a Mesoproterozoic juvenile crustal source modified by mantle‐derived magma. They are characterized by logf(O2) of −16.1 to −9.4, with an average of −12.5, ΔFMQ of +0.8 to +7.9, with an average of +4.5, showing a relatively high oxidation state for the syn‐mineralization magma. The apatites in quartz porphyry have the highest F contents, ranging from 3.61 to 4.62 wt%. At Chalukou, F‐rich magma is conducive to the convection of magma and promotes the efficient separation of differentiation magma, making the magmatic‐hydrothermal fluid circulate many times, eventually resulting in the accumulation of ore‐forming materials on the top of the magma chamber and gradually aggravating mineral enrichment processes. The Beiya giant porphyry Au deposit is the largest Cenozoic Au deposit in the Jinshajiang Cu–Mo–Au metallogenic belt. Many granite porphyries of ~36 Ma were exposed in the Beiya deposit, including the Wandongshan (WDS) and Hongnitang monzogranite porphyries (HNT–MPs) with economically important Au metal resources, the uneconomic WDS biotite MP, and Putaishan granite porphyry (GP), and subeconomic MPs at Nandaping (NDP) and Matouwan (MTW) prospects. To reveal the fundamental factors that lead to the different fertility of these granitic porphyries, this study uses the biotite and zircon geochemical compositions to evaluate their petrogenetic and magmatic conditions (e.g., F content, pressure, fO2). The results show that biotites from economic WDS and HNT–MPs exhibit moderate F contents (0.85%–2.16%), low n(FeT)/n(FeT + Mg) ratios (average of 0.36), and shallow emplacement depths of 0.19–1.76 km. In contrast, the uneconomic granite porphyries are characterized by variable F contents (0.17%–2.75%), high n(FeT)/n(FeT + Mg) ratios (average of 0.43), and deep emplacement depths of 2.76 to 5.02 km. Moreover, the economic WDS and HNT–MPs display higher average zircon fO2 (ΔFMQ [fayalite–magnetite–quartz] of +0.88) than uneconomic granite porphyries (ΔFMQ of −0.19), further confirming a higher fO2 of the economic granitic porphyries. These features indicate that magmatic fO2 is a critical factor controlling Cu–Au mineralization at the Beiya Au deposit. In comparison with the economic WDS and HNT–MPs, the subeconomic MPs in the MTW and NDP prospects exhibit higher average biotite n(FeT)/n(FeT + Mg) ratios of 0.47 and 0.45, and lower average zircon ΔFMQ of −0.05 and −0.23, suggesting lower magmatic fO2 and thus have relatively weak potentials to form Cu–Au mineralization. Notably, the economic WDS and HNT–MPs have higher biotite XMg ratios than those of the subeconomic and uneconomic granitic porphyries, indicating that the economic MPs were formed by the partial melting of mixed lower crustal materials with more mantle‐derived materials. Therefore, the addition of mantle‐derived materials played an important role in determining the fO2 of the granitic porphyry, thus primarily controlling its fertility of Cu–Au mineralization. Large volume, intermediate-felsic magma reservoirs are the source of melt and mineralising fluids which generate porphyry copper deposits. Cooling and crystallisation of hydrous magmas drives the exsolution and expulsion of a magmatic volatile phase—a process which remains challenging to constrain in porphyry Cu systems where the record of magma volatile compositions is rarely preserved. Here, we use the halogen compositions of apatite inclusions shielded as inclusions within zircon to constrain volatile evolution in magma reservoirs which pre-date and are synchronous with porphyry Cu mineralisation at Quellaveco, Southern Peru. Geochemical and textural data confirm that the zircon-included apatites escaped re-equilibration with hydrothermal fluids, unlike apatites found in the groundmass of the same rocks. We, therefore, recommend that future studies attempting to reconcile magmatic volatile budgets using apatite in porphyry Cu systems should focus on apatite inclusions in zircon. By combining the apatite inclusion data with numerical modelling, we find evidence that the magma reservoir sourcing porphyry Cu mineralisation remained fluid-saturated for the entire period recorded by apatite crystallisation. By contrast, the pre-mineralisation batholith shows more variable, potentially fluid-undersaturated behaviour. Our modelling suggests that in order to attain the porphyry melt volatile compositions inferred from apatite, the magma reservoir must have exsolved a large proportion of its volatile budget, consistent with having been held at high crystallinity (40–60% crystals). This crystallisation interval coincides with peak chlorine and copper extraction from intermediate-felsic magmas, and would have permitted efficient fluid migration and accumulation at the roof of the system. We suggest that the storage of large-volume, long-lived, crystal-rich magma reservoirs in magmatic arcs may be a critical step in generating world-class porphyry copper deposits. In recent years, the development of airborne magnetic survey technology based on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has been rapidly advancing. The commonly used systems are the fixed-wing UAV-based, multi-rotors UAV-based, and unmanned helicopters-based magnetic survey systems. And, a type of hybrid UAV that uses a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) and fixed-wing cruise mode is increasingly being used to carry airborne magnetic survey systems. To meet the requirements of most UAVs for small-sized and lightweight payloads, a miniature magnetic survey system was developed and integrated into a hybrid fixed-wing UAV and formed an aeromagnetic survey system. And, a peripheral mineral exploration test was conducted in a known porphyry copper–gold deposit in southeastern China using the system. By processing the collected magnetic data with 3D inversion of susceptibilities, potential ore-bearing intrusive rocks were quickly identified and delineated, providing clues for peripheral mineral exploration in the mining area. A study of both in situ and detrital gold from different deposit types in British Columbia was undertaken to establish deposit-specific compositional characteristics in terms of alloy composition and suites of mineral inclusions. The study is based on 11,840 particles from 160 localities in which nine gold deposit types are represented, although there is a strong bias towards gold of orogenic, low-sulphidation epithermal, and alkalic porphyry origin. In general, Ag values in gold alloys are not a powerful discriminator for deposit type, but minor metals may prove useful where detectable, e.g., Cu in gold from ultramafic associations and Pd and Hg in gold from alkalic porphyry systems. The characterization of inclusion suites is far more illuminating, as they correlate strongly with the mineralogy of auriferous ores from different deposit types. This outcome has confirmed the validity of designing an indicator methodology based on inclusion suites and has permitted the prediction of inclusion suites for gold from other deposit types where data are more scarce. The compositional templates generated in the study were applied to identify the source deposit type(s) of gold from 41 localities (a total of 2916 detrital gold particles) where gold genesis was previously unknown. Porphyry copper ore‐forming intrusions are distinguished from barren arc magmas by high oxidation state and "adakitic" high Sr/Y and La/Yb. Controversy over petrogenesis of adakites has centered on ambiguities in interpretation of their steep rare earth element (REE) patterns, and on whether garnet participates in their petrogenesis. Lambda (λ) coefficients deconvolute subtle differences in REE pattern curvature, providing a more quantitative method to explore mineral fractionation processes. Here, we use trace element and numerical λ coefficient modeling to assess the relative influence of amphibole, garnet, and plagioclase in the petrogenesis of porphyry ore‐forming intrusions. We find that garnet‐fractionation trends are not evident in REE patterns of many adakitic porphyry‐forming intrusions. Instead, porphyry‐forming intrusions in the western Pacific and Eocene porphyry‐forming intrusions in northern Chile have REE patterns consistent with a garnet‐free, amphibole‐dominated cumulate. Traditional element ratios such at Dy/Dy*, LaN/YbN, and DyN/YbN are poor discriminants for garnet or amphibole fractionation. Plain Language Summary: Copper is a crucial metal for electrification and emission‐free energy generation. Copper is primarily sourced from active and extinct volcanic mountain chains. The minerals forming in the root zones of these volcanoes are crucial for ore formation processes, but identification of the exact minerals involved in these processes is still debated. We use a novel method of detecting small variations in the chemical signature of the rare earth elements, combined with numerical modeling of mineral crystallization to distinguish the participation of two minerals, garnet and amphibole. We show that amphibole is ubiquitous whereas garnet only occurs in some deposits. Therefore, garnet fractionation is not necessary for copper deposit formation as has been previously suggested. The Yangchuling porphyry W–Mo deposit is an oxidized tungsten deposit in the Jiangnan tungsten belt, which is the largest tungsten belt in the world. Both W- and Mo-mineralization predominantly occur in the cupola of a monzogranite porphyry with abundant mafic dikes and microgranular mafic enclaves (MMEs). Acicular apatite in MMEs and similar SIMS U–Pb zircon ages of the monzogranite porphyry (149.7 ± 1.1 Ma) and MMEs (148.7 ± 1.3 Ma) suggesting mixing of mafic and felsic melts. Plagioclase phenocrysts are oscillatory zoned with An-rich and An-poor zones with lower 87Sr/86Srinitial values and higher contents of Mg, Ti, and Sr in the An-rich zones and resorption surfaces in An-poor bands. These textures reflect multiple injection of mafic magma into the magma system responsible for the formation of the Yangchuling deposit. Whole rock Sr–Nd isotope data and zircon Hf–O isotope data indicate 60–70% contribution from the enriched mantle and 30–40% from the crust to the ore-forming granitic rocks. The W and Mo endowments of the Yangchuling deposit and other W-Mo deposits in the Jiangnan tungsten belt have different sources. Whereas W is derived from the melting of supracrustal metasedimentary rocks, Mo is contributed by mafic magmas. The latter is inferred from (i) the close relationship of Mo mineralization with mafic dikes and MMEs rather than the more evolved monzogranite porphyry and (ii) higher Mo concentrations in scheelite from MMEs (3020–3406 ppm) than in scheelite from the host monzogranitic porphyry (540–1886 ppm). On the scale of the whole Jiangnan tungsten belt, granitic rocks with more intense Mo mineralization have higher εHf zircon values that demonstrate higher input of mantle material to the deposit-forming granites. Porphyry Mo deposits are important suppliers of molybdenum for industrial applications, but the origin and source of metals in these deposits remain debated. Here, we present Mo isotope data for Miocene mineralized porphyritic monzogranites (MPMs) and Paleocene barren biotite monzogranites and tuffs (BMTs) from the Bangpu porphyry Mo (Cu) deposit in the Gangdese metallogenic belt. The results show that the MPMs display radiogenic Sr and Pb isotopes and elevated δ98/95Mo (relative to NIST SRM 3134; +0.07%c-1.2%c) and Mo contents, which exceed the range of the depleted mantle. These characteristics cannot be attributed to surface weathering, hydrothermal alteration, magmatic differentiation, or partial melting but rather reflect the incorporation of Mo from black shales into their magma sources, as evidenced by the significant correlations between δ98/95Mo and εNd(i) and aluminum saturation index (ASI) values. In contrast, the BMTs display lower Mo and δ98/95Mo values than the mineralized samples, and their δ98/95Mo values display no correlations with radiogenic isotopes or ASI values. The contrasting characteristics of mineralized and barren samples provide strong evidence that the addition of black shales played an important role in the formation of the Bangpu porphyry Mo deposit. Our study thus establishes a possible link between porphyry Mo deposits and organic-rich sediments and highlights the great potential of Mo isotopes in studying porphyry Mo deposits. Porphyry Mo deposits are the most important type of Mo resource. They result from a high oxygen fugacity of the parent magma, which acts as an effective indicator for evaluating the mineralization. In the ore-forming system of porphyry Mo deposits, sulfur exists mainly as sulfate in highly oxidized magma but as sulfide in ores. What triggers the reduction in the mineralization system that leads to sulfide precipitation has not yet been determined. Most of the previous studies have focused on the origin and evolution of the ore-forming parent magma, and the effects of reductive surrounding rocks on porphyry mineralization have been ignored. In this study, a comprehensive geological–geochemical investigation and review have been performed on the typical porphyry Mo deposits, the Nannihu-Sandaozhuang, Yuchiling, and Shapingou deposits in China, and the Mt. Emmons deposits in America. Black carbonaceous sedimentary layers commonly surround porphyry Mo ores, which are widely altered and discolored during mineralization. CH4 is commonly present in fluid inclusions in the main mineralization stage, and the δ13CV-PDB values of calcite and fluid inclusions from the altered surrounding rocks and ore minerals are generally low and significantly different from those of marine sedimentary carbonate rocks, indicating that the involvement of reductive components from carbonaceous surrounding rocks might be key to the redox state transformation leading to mineral precipitation. On the other hand, the CH4 produced by the thermal decomposition of organic matter or carbonaceous reaction with H2O can diffuse into the ore-forming system along the structural fractures and reduce the SO42− in the ore-forming hydrothermal fluids to form sulfide precipitation without direct contact between the intrusion and the carbonaceous surrounding rocks. Moreover, the CH4 content controls the location of the orebody formation with the high content producing orebodies mainly in the porphyry intrusion, while the low CH4 content results in the orebodies mainly occurring at the contact zone between the porphyry and carbonaceous surrounding rocks. Compared to the magmatic stage of mineralization, the involvement of reductive components in the carbonaceous surrounding rocks during the hydrothermal stage is more favorable for forming giant/large Mo deposits. The highly oxidized porphyry with reductive carbonaceous surrounding rocks or Fe-rich volcanic rocks offers a new indicator for efficiently evaluating porphyry Mo mineralization. The Xiongcun Cu–Au ore district is in the southern middle Gangdese Metallogenic Belt, Tibet, and formed during Neo-Tethyan oceanic subduction. The Xiongcun ore district mainly comprises two deposits, the No. I and No. II deposits, which were formed by two individual mineralization events according to deposit geology and Re–Os isotopic dating of molybdenite. The No. I deposit is similar to a reduced porphyry copper–gold deposit, given the widespread occurrence of primary and/or hydrothermal pyrrhotite and common CH4-rich and rare N2-rich fluid inclusions. The No. II deposit, similar to classic oxidized porphyry copper–gold deposits, contains highly oxidized minerals, including magnetite, anhydrite, and hematite. The halogen chemistry of the ore-forming fluid from the No. I and No. II deposits is still unclear. Biotite geochemistry with halogen contents was used to investigate the differences in ore-forming fluid between the No. I and No. II deposits. Hydrothermal biotite from the No. I deposit, usually intergrown with sphalerite, is Mg-rich and classified as phlogopite and Mg-biotite, and hydrothermal biotite from the No. II deposit is classified as Mg-biotite. Hydrothermal biotite from the No. I deposit has significantly higher SiO2, MnO, MgO, F, Li, Sc, Zn, Rb, Tl, and Pb contents and lower Al2O3, FeOtot, Cl, Ba, Cr, V, Co, Ni, Y, Sr, Zr, Th, and Cu contents than the biotite from the No. II deposit. Hydrothermal biotites from the No. I and No. II deposits yield temperatures ranging from 230 °C to 593 °C and 212 °C to 306 °C, respectively. The calculated oxygen fugacity and fugacity ratios indicate that the hydrothermal fluid of the No. I deposit has a higher F content, oxygen fugacity, and log(fHF/fHCl) value and a lower log(fH2O/fHF) value than the hydrothermal fluid from the No. II deposit. The biotite geochemistry shows that the No. I and No. II deposits formed from different hydrothermal fluids. The hydrothermal fluid of the No. I deposit was mixed with meteoric waters containing organic matter, resulting in a decrease in oxygen fugacity and more efficient precipitation of gold. The No. I and No. II deposits were formed by a Cl-rich hydrothermal system conducive to transporting Cu and Au. The decreasing Cl, oxygen fugacity, and temperature may be the key factors in Cu and Au precipitation. The location and development of porphyry copper deposits is a key issue for the mining industry. In this study, the Gondwana metallogenic belt was chosen as the study area to compare multiple methods for extracting multi-source geological elements to maximize the accuracy of the datasets used for mining evaluation and to use them to assess porphyry copper mineability. By comparison, a support vector machine (SVM) with an overall classification accuracy of 97.6573% and a Kappa coefficient of 0.9806 was used to extract the lithological distribution of the study area. Spectral feature-enhanced principal component analysis (EPCA) was combined with ASTER images to extract alteration information, with significant improvements in spatial aggregation and overall area compared to other alteration extraction methods, while a hierarchical alteration interpolation method was proposed to overcome the limitations of relying solely on remote sensing images to obtain surface alteration information and qualitatively extend deep alteration information. In addition, by overlaying various geoscientific factors affecting copper mineralization and mining, a Pearson correlation analysis is carried out in conjunction with currently proven or mined copper occurrences, and a weight of evidence approach is used to classify the study area into four mineability classes, which is important for narrowing down potential target areas for mineral exploration and assessing their mining value while contributing to an in-depth understanding of the role of geological elements in mineralization and development. The origin of intermediate to felsic potassic magmas is debated, and not much is known about the volatile content of potassic magmas associated with porphyry Cu (Au, Mo) deposits. To better understand the liquid line of decent of mafic potassic magmas and the behavior of volatiles during magma differentiation, we performed 19 experiments at 1.0 GPa and 1150 °C to 850 °C using piston cylinder presses. We developed a new experimental technique that involves a capsule liner made of single-crystal zircon to prevent the loss of Fe and S in the starting material to the noble metal capsule. The starting material is a high-Mg, basaltic trachyandesite (52 wt% SiO2, 12 wt% MgO, 1.9 wt% Na2O and 5.3 wt% K2O) from the Sanjiang region in southwestern China, doped with geologically realistic amounts of volatiles (i.e. 4.0 wt% H2O, 0.34 wt% CO2, 0.27 wt% Cl and 0.25 wt% S). The addition of 0.25 wt% S in the form of anhydrite internally buffered the experiments at an oxygen fugacity of 2.0 ± 0.5 log units above the fayalite–magnetite–quartz buffer, which is similar to the redox state of the Sanjiang variously evolved potassic magmas. The experimentally produced silicate melts match well with the Sanjiang intermediate to felsic magmas in terms of major, minor and trace element compositions, and also with regard to the S and Cl contents. The sequence of crystallizing minerals (olivine + clinopyroxene –> biotite ± orthopyroxene –> apatite –> K-feldspar) also fits with the one observed in the Sanjiang mafic to intermediate magmas. These results suggest that the Sanjiang intermediate to felsic magmas, including the porphyry Cu (Au, Mo)-forming magmas, can form solely by differentiation of potassic mafic magmas without any involvement of old crustal material. During experimental differentiation at 1.0 GPa, the S content of the evolving silicate melt first increased until ~57 wt% melt SiO2, and then decreased in response to precipitation of sulfides, sulfate melt and/or anhydrite, whereas the H2O and Cl contents of the evolving silicate melt increased exponentially until saturation in a CO2-rich fluid was reached at 60 to 65 wt% melt SiO2 and ~ 8 wt% melt H2O. During further magma differentiation the H2O and Cl contents of the evolving silicate melt remained constant until ~70 wt% melt SiO2, after which point the Cl content of the silicate melt decreased due to increased partitioning of Cl into the fluid phase ± increased fluid/melt ratio. Based on these experimental results and petrographic and geochemical evidence from natural samples, the Sanjiang porphyry Cu (Au, Mo)-forming magmas (65–70 wt% SiO2) are interpreted to have formed through differentiation of primitive, mantle-derived, potassic magmas in the lower crust (≥1.0 GPa), and to have ascended ±directly from the lower crust to shallow crustal levels. They likely contained 8 to 13 wt% H2O, 0.37 to 0.90 wt% Cl and 0.07–0.29 wt% S. This case study on the magma evolution in the Sanjiang region may have implications for the origin and nature of intermediate to felsic potassic magmas in various tectonic settings. Kriging has some problems such as ignoring sample values in giving weights to them, reducing dependence structure to a single covariance function, and facing negative confidence bounds. In view to these problems of kriging in this study to estimate Cu in the Iju porphyry Cu deposit in Iran, we used a convex linear combination of Archimedean copulas. To delineate the spatial dependence structure of Cu, the best Frank, Gumbel, and Clayton copula models were determined at different lags to fit with higher-order polynomials. The resulting Archimedean copulas were able to describe all kinds of spatial dependence structures, including asymmetric lower and upper tails. The copula and kriging methods were compared through a split-sample cross-validation test whereby the drill-hole data were divided into modeling and validation sets. The cross-validation showed better results for geostatistical estimation through copula than through kriging in terms of accuracy and precision. The mean of the validation set, which was 0.1218%, was estimated as 0.1278% and 0.1369% by the copula and kriging methods, respectively. The correlation coefficient between the estimated and measured values was higher for the copula method than for the kriging method. With 0.0143%2 and 0.0162%2 values, the mean square error was substantially smaller for copula than for kriging. Hydrothermal rutile (TiO2) is a widely distributed accessory mineral in hydrothermal veins or alteration assemblages of porphyry deposits and provides important information for further understanding hydrothermal fluid signatures. This study determines the geochemical composition and U-Pb dates of hydrothermal rutile from the Yulong porphyry Cu-Mo deposit in east Tibet, China. Three types of TiO2 polymorphs have been identified based on their Raman spectroscopic, textural, and chemical characteristics. (1) Brookite and anatase pseudomorphs after titanite in a fine-grained matrix, indicating low-temperature hydrothermal fluids destabilizing primary Ti-bearing minerals during argillic alteration (type-I). (2) Elongated and prismatic rutile present in hydrothermal veins or in clusters in accompanying alteration envelope characterized by weak zoning (type-II). And (3) rutile intergrown with sulfides in hydrothermal veins, characterized by well-developed patchy and sector zoning (type-III). In contrast to the type-I and type-II TiO2 polymorphs, tungsten is enriched in backscattered bright patches and sector zones in type-III rutile, which is due to the substitution of W6+ in the Ti4+ octahedral site. The mechanism of the enrichment of tungsten is efectively driven by the halogen-rich (F, Cl) aqueous fluids during hydrothermal mineralization. In situ U-Pb dating of the type-III rutile yields a lower intercept age of 41.8 ± 1.2 Ma, which brackets the timing of the Cu-Mo mineralization. The recently discovered 460 Gaodi porphyry Mo-Cu deposit is a sub-economic deposit characterized by low Mo-Cu grades, dispersed mineralization, and separated Mo- and Cu-ore bodies. This study aims to elucidate the factors underlying this type of sub-economic mineralization. Electron-microprobe analyses of biotite from ore-related granite porphyry yielded Ti-in-biotite crystallization temperatures of 677–734 °C (an average of 719 °C) and biotite phenocryst crystallization depths of 6.0 to 12.9 km. LA-ICP-MS analyses of zircons from the same sample revealed average zircon Ce4+/Ce3+ ratios of 299.7 and elevated zircon lg(ƒO2) ratios, with an average ΔFMQ of +6.6 ± 1.9. These discoveries suggest that the magma responsible for ore formation boasts a high degree of oxidation, yet also possesses a magma chamber located at a significant depth within the upper crust. This implies an extensive exsolving depth for fluids. Furthermore, our microthermometry analysis of fluid inclusions reveals that a portion of the fluid experiences considerable conductive cooling as it ascends along the conduit, owing to the depth of fluid exsolution. This process results in the ore fluids remaining in the liquid-only region without undergoing boiling, which is conducive to the enrichment of metals. The Elatsite–Chelopech ore field in the northern part of the Panagyurishte district in Central Bulgaria comprises numerous spatially associated porphyry copper and epithermal gold deposits and prospects. In addition to the mineralization and alteration features, trace elements, lead and sulfur isotope signatures of sulfide minerals from porphyry copper, base metal and gold-base metal deposits/prospects have been studied. LA-ICP-MS analyses of pyrite, arsenopyrite and sulfosalt minerals validate them as major carriers for Au, Ag, Sb, Se and Co. Pyrite from the three types of mineralization has specific geochemical characteristics. Pyrite from the porphyry copper deposits/prospects has generally lower total trace element content compared to pyrite from the epithermal prospects, except for Se, Co and Ni. Pyrite from the base metal and gold-base metal veins is enriched in As, Au, Ag, Sb and Pb. In pyrite from the base metal deposits, Co and Ni have contents comparable to the pyrite from the porphyry copper deposits, while pyrite from the gold-base metal veins shows lower Co and Ni. Arsenopyrite from these deposits shows similar features. Similarly, sphalerite from the gold-base metal veins also has lower Co content compared to sphalerite from the base metal veins but higher In and Cu contents. In addition to the close spatial relationships between the Elatsite and Gorna Kamenitsa porphyry Cu deposits and Negarstitsa-West and Dolna Kamenitsa base metal prospects, as well as similarities in the mineralization and alteration styles, the lead isotopic (206Pb/204Pb = 18.61–18.68, 207Pb/204Pb = 15.64–15.65 for porphyry and 206Pb/204Pb = 18.55–18.67, 207Pb/204Pb = 15.64–15.68 for base metal) and sulfur isotopic (δ34S values of −3 to +1‰ for porphyry and δ34S values of −1.7 to +3.5‰ for base metal) signatures of sulfides support the idea of a genetic link between these two types of deposits. The porphyry and base-metal mineralization result from a common major ore-forming event during the Late Cretaceous, corresponding to deep/higher-temperature and shallower/distal/lower-temperature environments, respectively. In particular, more radiogenic lead (206Pb/204Pb = 18.41–18.47, 207Pb/204Pb = 15.67–15.76) and slightly different sulfur isotopic compositions (δ34S values of +3.5 to +10.6‰) of sulfides from the distal gold-base metal veins of Kordunsko Dere, Svishti Plaz and Shipkite might be a consequence of the interaction of the ore-forming fluids with an external older crustal and isotopically positive S source. Tourmaline tends to occur in porphyry Cu–Au deposits as an alteration or gangue mineral. However, abundant primary tourmalines in miarolitic cavities or interstitially distributed with other silicate minerals have been found in the Shiwu porphyry Cu–Au deposit in West Junggar, NW China. These tourmalines are normally accompanied by pyrite and have a high affinity for Cu and Au mineralization. A combined study of the petrology, geochronology, isotope, and mineral geochemistry data of the tourmaline-rich igneous rocks and the wallrock of tourmaline-poor pyroxene diorite has been completed. The laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA–ICP–MS) U–Pb dating of zircons from tourmaline-poor pyroxene diorite, tourmaline-rich diorite, and tourmaline-rich andesite shows the ages of the zircons to be 317.0 ± 1.0 Ma (MSWD = 0.37, n = 18), 315.8 ± 1.0 Ma (MSWD = 0.84, n = 22), and 306.4 ± 1.6 Ma (MSWD = 1.15, n = 15), respectively. The relatively low values of Hf isotopes (εHf(t) = +6.0 to +13.6) suggest that the tourmaline-poor pyroxene diorite is sourced from a mixed melt of juvenile mantle materials with old crustal components. The tourmaline-rich diorite and the tourmaline-rich andesite that contain higher εHf(t) values (ranging from +13.3 to +17.9) are mainly derived from juvenile mantle materials. In addition, the εHf(t) values in the tourmaline-poor pyroxene diorite and the tourmaline-rich diorite (+13.3 to +16.1) and andesite (+16.3 to +17.9) are gradually rising with their age evolution, which indicates that more and more mantle-derived components are joining in their formation process. This process has also been recorded in primary tourmaline growth, e.g., the EPMA profile reveals an increase in the contents of Fe and other metals and a decrease in Al contents from the inside (core) to the outside (growth zoning). Therefore, the injection of mantle-derived magma that could supply the large amount of copper and gold was critical for the formation of the Shiwu porphyry Cu–Au deposit. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

An essential part of the world's remaining mineral resources is expected to reside deep in the crust or under post-mineralization cover. For porphyry copper deposits, the world's primary source of Cu, Mo, and Re, identifying the dynamic processes that control their emplacement in the upper crust can guide future exploration. Seismic tomography can constrain these processes through imaging deep-seated structures at the regional scale. Here we construct a three-dimensional model of the Vp/Vs ratio, based on arrival times of P and S seismic waves, beneath the Cerro Colorado porphyry Cu–(Mo) deposit in northern Chile. Our images show that low Vp/Vs (~ 1.55–1.65) anomalies, extending to ~ 5–15 km depth, coincide with the surface expression of known porphyry copper deposits and prospects, as well as delimit structures that host orebodies and related hydrothermal alteration zones. Medium Vp/Vs (~ 1.68–1.74) and high Vp/Vs (Vp/Vs ~ 1.85) bodies correspond to intermediate-felsic plutonic precursors for porphyry intrusions and mafic magma reservoirs that underlie shallower orebodies, respectively. Imaging these precursor and parental plutons is crucial to the identification of orebodies as they act as the source of fluids for porphyry copper generation. Porphyry deposits are the dominant sources of copper and major sources of several base and precious metals. They are commonly formed via the repeated emplacement of hydrous magmas and associated fluid exsolution. As a result, mineralized hydrothermal veins may undergo multiple deposition and reopening processes that are not fully accounted for by existing fluid models. The Tongchang porphyry Cu deposit is a rare example of being related to a single intrusion. The simplicity in intrusive history provides an ideal starting point for studying fluid processes in more complex multi-intrusion porphyry systems. Detailed scanning electron microscope (SEM) cathodoluminescence imaging (CL) revealed rich microtextures in quartz and anhydrite that point to a fluid timeline encompassing early quartz deposition followed by fluid-aided dynamic recrystallization, which was succeeded by an intermediate stage of quartz dissolution and subsequent deposition, and ended with a late stage of continuous quartz deposition, brecciation, and fracturing. Vein reopening is more common than expected. Fifteen out of seventeen examined vein samples contained quartz and/or anhydrite that was older or younger than the vein age defined by vein sequences. Thermobarometry and solubility analysis suggests that the fluid events occurred in a general cooling path (from 650 °C to 250 °C), interspersed with two episodes of fluid pressurization. The first episode occurred at high-T (>500 °C), under lithostatic conditions alongside dynamic recrystallization, whereas the second one took place at a lower temperature (~400 °C), under lithostatic to hydrostatic transition conditions. The main episode of chalcopyrite veining took place subsequent to the second overpressure episode at temperatures of 380–300 °C.
