High Energy Physics - Phenomenology ,High Energy Physics - Experiment - Abstract
There are many possibilities for new physics beyond the Standard Model that feature non-standard Higgs sectors. These may introduce new sources of CP violation, and there may be mixing between multiple Higgs bosons or other new scalar bosons. Alternatively, the Higgs may be a composite state, or there may even be no Higgs at all. These non-standard Higgs scenarios have important implications for collider physics as well as for cosmology, and understanding their phenomenology is essential for a full comprehension of electroweak symmetry breaking. This report discusses the most relevant theories which go beyond the Standard Model and its minimal, CP-conserving supersymmetric extension: two-Higgs-doublet models and minimal supersymmetric models with CP violation, supersymmetric models with an extra singlet, models with extra gauge groups or Higgs triplets, Little Higgs models, models in extra dimensions, and models with technicolour or other new strong dynamics. For each of these scenarios, this report presents an introduction to the phenomenology, followed by contributions on more detailed theoretical aspects and studies of possible experimental signatures at the LHC and other colliders., Comment: Report of the CPNSH workshop, May 2004 - Dec 2005, 542 pages. Astrophysics - Abstract
We carried out a search for peak inhomogeneities in the distribution of matter - namely clumps and voids, within the range Z ~ 1-3. We used a new method, based on the lensing of quasars by a combination of lenses, belonging to the above sought inhomogeneities in the matter distribution. This work confirms the evidence of the existence of inhomogeneities found by us earlier - of a clump (superattractor N.1), and of a void (supervoid). Besides, the existence of a new gigantic clump (superattractor N.2) was also discovered at Z ~ 3. These clumps could well serve as centers of the Bose-condensation in the early Universe; in particular - as Anselm's arion condensate, which leads to the formation of quasiperiodic structures with a period p ~ 100-200 Mpc., Comment: 22 pages, 2 figures, 6 tables. submitted to Astrophys.& Space Sci

High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
We calculate the cross-sections for the production of Standard Model Higgs Boson in association with the neutral gauge bosons (photon and Z--boson). For the case of reaction $\mu^+ \mu^- \to \gamma H^0$, complete and compact analytical expressions for the differential and total cross--sections, applicable also for the case of any (pseudo)scalar particle with mass-coupling proportionality, in particulary, for an axion are given. Reaction $\mu^+ \mu^- \to Z^0 H^0$ is some "generalization" of the well-known "Bjorken process" for the case of $ e^+ e^-$ collisions. Various distributions for both the processes above are illustrated for the energies, which will be reached at future $\mu^+ \mu^-$ colliders. Study of those processes will be evidently complementary to the precision measurements at the Higgs resonance region., Comment: 13 pages, Latex file

High Energy Physics - Phenomenology - Abstract
The hypothetic R--resonance production (anomalous "$l\bar l\gamma\gamma$" events at LEP) with 60 GeV mass at FNAL hadron collider has been considered. The cross-section of this R-resonance production with the consequent decay $R \to \gamma\gamma$ is obtained. Various distributions of leptons and photons in the process $p\bar p \to l\bar l R (\to \gamma\gamma) X$ are calculated., Comment: Latex, BoxedEPSF(send in the beginning of the file), 10 pages, 3 figures(available upon request for E-mail in paper), Preprint IHEP 94-69, Protvino, 1994

The paper presents findings on the formation of inorganic-organic hybrid material МСМ-41 ˂PTHQ˃. The selection of a guest material proved to meet the condition of geometric complementarity of guest positions of a starting host matrix as to a guest cavitand component. The guest material appeared to be sensitive so that one could obtain the functional hybridity of the clathrate structure MCM-41˂PTHQ˃. The synthesis resulted in the formation of a structure with a large area of hetero-nano networks. The research of permittivity was conducted through the method of impedance spectroscopy. An introduction of the guest component led to the splitting of the impurity energy spectrum followed by the occurrence of quantum wells. This, in turn, gave rise to oscillations that manifested in a middle-energy region of dependences ReZ(ω). The superimposition of a constant magnetic field significantly affects the behavior of ReZ(ω) in the middle-frequency region – the dependency mirroring takes place. This may suggest a certain shift in the energy spectrum in relation to the Fermi level by the constant magnetic field, as a result of which the sign of asymmetry of the density of states changes above and below the Fermi level. An assumption has been made that the asymmetry of the density of states occurs precisely due to the guest component as clearly demonstrated by thermally stimulated discharge spectra (a miniband character of a spectrum with deep quantum wells). The two-curve Nyquist diagram and given equivalent circuit with an inductive link visualize a barrier that is observed at the phase boundary. Such an increase coupled with a low value of tgδ makes it possible to accumulate electric charge under the action of a magnetic field at a quantum level. Also, the paper demonstrates conditions under which synthesized nanohybrids could be attractive when used as quantum storage batteries.

- Abstract
Motivated by evidence that silver nanoparticles have found numerous technological applications we have explored in this work utilization of polythiocyanatohydroquinone as a new efficient reducing and stabilizing agent for the preparation of such nanoparticles. The formation of silver nanoparticles has been confirmed by the UV–Vis spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction and by transmission electron microscopy. The potentiometric and spectroscopy kinetic measurements during the nanoparticles growth are also presented. Thermodynamic activation parameters for the silver nanoparticle formation have been determined from the reaction kinetic studies at variable temperatures. On the ground of observations using these techniques, a mechanism for silver nanoparticle growth has been proposed. The narrow size (20–40 nm) and spherical shape distribution of the fabricated nanoparticles together with the high stability of colloids for sedimentation provide a firm basis for applications of the polythiocyanatohydroquinone polymer as a reducing and stabilizing material for the metal nanoparticles preparation and storage., QC 20191104

The paper presents findings on the formation of inorganic-organic hybrid material МСМ-41
. The selection of a guest material proved to meet the condition of geometric complementarity of guest positions of a starting host matrix as to a guest cavitand component. The guest material appeared to be sensitive so that one could obtain the functional hybridity of the clathrate structure MCM-41 . [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] - Published

- Abstract
The energy resolution of the barrel part of the CMS Electromagnetic Calorimeter has been studied using electrons of 20 to 250 GeV in a test beam. The incident electron's energy was reconstructed by summing the energy measured in arrays of 3×3 or 5×5 channels. There was no significant amount of correlated noise observed within these arrays. For electrons incident at the centre of the studied 3×3 arrays of crystals, the mean stochastic term was measured to be 2.8% and the mean constant term to be 0.3%. The amount of the incident electrons' energy which is contained within the array depends on its position of incidence. The variation of the containment with position is corrected for using the distribution of the measured energy within the array. For uniform illumination of a crystal with 120 GeV electrons a resolution of 0.5% was achieved. The energy resolution meets the design goal for the detector. © 2007 IOP Publishing Ltd and SISSA.

Physics::Instrumentation and Detectors ,Detectors and Experimental Techniques - Abstract
Precise calibration of the CMS electromagnetic calorimeter must be performed in situ at the LHC in order to fully exploit the physics reach of the CMS experiment. Achieving the design-goal calibration precision of 0.5\% will be particularly important for a discovery of the Higgs boson in the two-photon decay channel. In this paper we evaluate the potential of a novel calibration technique that makes use of photon pairs produced in neutral pion decays, $\pi^0 \to \gamma\gamma$ . Such photon pairs will be selected from the QCD events accepted by the Level 1 triggers using an online filter farm. Assuming a Level 1 trigger rate of 10 kHz, the rate of suitable neutral pions is found to be as high as 1 kHz. We show that 95\% of the barrel electromagnetic calorimeter can be calibrated to at least a 1\% (0.5\%) precision after several days (weeks) of data-taking in the low-luminosity scenario of LHC, ${\cal L} = 2 \cdot 10^{33}$, cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$. In addition, we report on the successful tests of the $\pi^0$ reconstruction and calibration algorithms that were carried out using $\pi^0 \to \gamma\gamma$ decays produced in $\pi^-$ test beams in November 2006.

The energy resolution performance of the CMS lead tungstate crystal electromagnetic calorimeter is presented. Measurements were made with an electron beam using a fully equipped supermodule of the calorimeter barrel. Results are given both for electrons incident on the centre of crystals and for electrons distributed uniformly over the calorimeter surface. The electron energy is reconstructed in matrices of 3 times 3 or 5 times 5 crystals centred on the crystal containing the maximum energy. Corrections for variations in the shower containment are applied in the case of uniform incidence. The resolution measured is consistent with the design goals.

A study of CMS discovery potential for an intermediate mass Higgs boson is presented in this note. Results have been obtained for the vector boson fusion (VBF) production mode, rm pp rightarrow rm q q H rightarrow rm q q gamma gamma where the final state includes two high-rapidity jets, during the first years of running at low luminosity. Full detector simulation is used both for the Higgs boson signal and all types of background.

Physics::Instrumentation and Detectors ,Detectors and Experimental Techniques - Abstract
We have carried out a detailed study of the inclusive search for the Higgs boson in the H->gamma gamma channel with the CMS detector at LHC. The analysis is based on full Monte Carlo simulation. Though for the moment we have only simulated data to work with, we have designed an analysis that can determine the background from real data and will thus only depend on signal Monte Carlo when data will be available. This largely reduces the systematic error and, together with the excellent energy resolution of the CMS electromagnetic calorimeter, enables a search that would otherwise be very difficult because of the large amount of expected background. We have studied both a standard cut-based search and a more optimized analysis that takes advantage of the wide range of signal/background expectations as function of the possible selection cuts. Since discovery in this channel is expected to take one or more years of LHC running, such optimized analyses should be studied to minimize the time to discovery and to assure that the experiment is competitive in this important measurement.

Detectors and Experimental Techniques - Abstract
The CMS detector discovery potential to the resonant production of massive Kaluza - Klein excitations expected in Randall-Sundrum model is studied. Full simulation and reconstruction are used to study diphoton decay of Randall-Sundrum gravitons. For an integrated luminosity of 30 fb^-1 diphoton decay of Randall-Sundrum graviton can be discovered at 5 sigma level for masses up to 1.61~tevsucqua in case of weak coupling between graviton excitations and Standard model particles (c=0.01). Heavier resonances can be detected for larger coupling constant (c=0.1), with mass reach of 3.95~tevsucqua.
