2. Acupotomy ameliorates knee osteoarthritis-related collagen deposition and fibrosis in rabbit skeletal muscle through the TGF-β/Smad pathway

Objective: To investigate the effects of acupotomy on skeletal muscle fibrosis and collagen deposition in a rabbit knee osteoarthritis (KOA) model. Methods: Rabbits (n = 18) were randomly divided into control, KOA, and KOA + acupotomy (Apo) groups (n = 6). The rabbits in the KOA and Apo groups were modeled using the modified Videman's method for 6 weeks. After modeling, the Apo group was subjected to acupotomy once a week for 3 weeks on the vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, rectus femoris, biceps femoris, and anserine bursa tendons around the knee. The behavior of all animals was recorded, rectus femoris tissue was obtained, and histomorphological changes were observed using Masson staining and transmission electron microscopy. The expression of transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1), Smad 3, Smad 7, fibrillar collagen types I (Col-I) and III (Col-III) was detected using Western blot and real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Results: Histological analysis revealed that acupotomy improved the microstructure and reduced the collagen volume fraction of rectus femoris, compared with the KOA group (P = .034). Acupotomy inhibited abnormal collagen deposition by modulating the expression of fibrosis-related proteins and mRNA, thus preventing skeletal muscle fibrosis. 4. Advancing Energy‐Storage Performance in Freestanding Ferroelectric Thin Films: Insights from Phase‐Field Simulations

Abstract Advances in flexible electronics are driving the development of ferroelectric thin‐film capacitors toward flexibility and high energy storage performance. In the present work, the synergistic combination of mechanical bending and defect dipole engineering is demonstrated to significantly enhance the energy storage performance of freestanding ferroelectric thin films, achieved through the generation of a narrower and right‐shifted polarization‐electric field hysteresis loop. The recoverable energy storage density of freestanding PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3 thin films increases from 99.7 J cm−3 in the strain (defect) ‐free state to 349.6 J cm−3, marking a significant increase of 251%. The collective impact of the flexoelectric field, bending tensile strain, and defect dipoles contributes to this enhancement. The demonstrated synergistic optimization strategy has potential applicability to flexible ferroelectric thin film systems. Moreover, the energy storage properties of flexible ferroelectric thin films can be further fine‐tuned by adjusting bending angles and defect dipole concentrations, offering a versatile platform for control and performance optimization.

Abstract Gastric cancer (GC), notorious for its poor prognosis, often advances to peritoneal dissemination, a crucial determinant of detrimental outcomes. This study intricately explores the role of the TGFβ-Smad-LIF axis within the tumor microenvironment in propagating peritoneal metastasis, with a specific emphasis on its molecular mechanism in instigating Neutrophil Extracellular Traps (NETs) formation and encouraging GC cellular functions. Through a blend of bioinformatics analyses, utilizing TCGA and GEO databases, and meticulous in vivo and in vitro experiments, LIF was identified as pivotally associated with GC metastasis, notably, enhancing the NETs formation through neutrophil stimulation. Mechanistically, TGF-β was substantiated to elevate LIF expression via the activation of the Smad2/3 complex, culminating in NETs formation and consequently, propelling peritoneal metastasis of GC. This revelation uncovers a novel potential therapeutic target, promising a new avenue in managing GC and mitigating its metastatic propensities.

Abstract Topology created by quasi-continuous spatial variations of a local polarization direction represents an exotic state of matter, but field-driven manipulation has been hitherto limited to creation and destruction. Here we report that relatively small electric or mechanical fields can drive the non-volatile rotation of polar spirals in discretized microregions of the relaxor ferroelectric polymer poly(vinylidene fluoride-ran-trifluoroethylene). These polar spirals arise from the asymmetric Coulomb interaction between vertically aligned helical polymer chains, and can be rotated in-plane through various angles with robust retention. Given also that our manipulation of topological order can be detected via infrared absorption, our work suggests a new direction for the application of complex materials.

Abstract Solomon rings, upholding the symbol of wisdom with profound historical roots, were widely used as decorations in ancient architecture and clothing. However, it was only recently discovered that such topological structures can be formed by self-organization in biological/chemical molecules, liquid crystals, etc. Here, we report the observation of polar Solomon rings in a ferroelectric nanocrystal, which consist of two intertwined vortices and are mathematically equivalent to a $${4}_{1}^{2}$$ 4 1 2 link in topology. By combining piezoresponse force microscopy observations and phase-field simulations, we demonstrate the reversible switching between polar Solomon rings and vertex textures by an electric field. The two types of topological polar textures exhibit distinct absorption of terahertz infrared waves, which can be exploited in infrared displays with a nanoscale resolution. Our study establishes, both experimentally and computationally, the existence and electrical manipulation of polar Solomon rings, a new form of topological polar structures that may provide a simple way for fast, robust, and high-resolution optoelectronic devices.

11. Effects of acupotomy on the activity of osteoclasts and osteoblasts in the subchondral bone of rabbits with early and mid-stage knee osteoarthritis models

Objective: To investigate whether acupotomy could inhibit subchondral bone remodeling in knee osteoarthritis (KOA) rabbits by regulating the activity of osteoblasts and osteoclasts. Methods: KOA rabbits were prepared by immobilization for 6 and 9 weeks by Videman method. Nine groups of rabbits (control, 6 weeks and 9 weeks model, 6 weeks and 9 weeks acupotomy, 6 weeks and 9 weeks electroacupuncture, and 6 weeks and 9 weeks drug groups) received acupotomy, electroacupuncture and risedronate sodium intervention, respectively, for 3 weeks. Results: Acupotomy can inhibit the activity of osteoclasts and osteoblasts in subchondral bone by reducing the proteins expression of cathepsin K (CK) and tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) and decreasing the proteins expression of osteocalcin (OCN) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP), to intercept the abnormal bone resorption and bone formation of subchondral bone in 6-week and 9-week immobilization-induced KOA rabbits. Conclusion: These findings indicated that acupotomy may be more advantageous than risedronate sodium intervention in modulating subchondral bone remodeling in KOA rabbits, especially in 9-week immobilization-induced KOA rabbits.

Abstract Wrinkled ferroelectric polymer films with out‐of‐plane deformation exhibit exotic strain fields that differ from those of conventional epitaxial film systems, offering a new path toward manipulating electrical and mechanical behaviors in ferroelectrics. However, the direct observation of the domain structure evolution in ferroelectric polymer films during continuous deformation is challenging with current experimental approaches. In this study, the strain‐induced evolution of toroidal domain structures in organic poly(vinylidene fluoride‐ran‐trifluoroethylene) (P(VDF‐TrFE)) films with concentric toroidal wrinkle patterns is comprehensively investigated using phase‐field simulations. The results reveal morphology‐ and thickness‐dependent toroidal polar topology in wrinkled P(VDF‐TrFE) films. External strain loading can modulate this ferroelectric domain, which exhibits robust coupling behavior with a mixed strain field of periodic tensile and compressive strains. It is demonstrated that toroidal wrinkled ferroelectric films provide an effective and unique flexible platform for continuously controllable strain engineering in ferroelectrics and a theoretical framework with potential applications in flexible electronic devices.

Abstract Cancer cell-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) have extensive application in the formation of their environment, including metastasis. This study explored the ability of gastric cancer (GC) cell-derived EVs-mediated microRNA-129-5p/E2F transcription factor 7/mitogen-activated protein kinase/extracellular regulated protein kinase (miR-129-5p/E2F7/MAPK/ERK) axis to affect the peritoneal metastasis of GC by delivering lncRNA small nucleolar RNA host gene 12 (SNHG12). EV-derived lncRNA and SNHG12/miR-129-5p/E2F7 network were determined by bioinformatics analysis. The regulatory relationship among SNHG12, miR-129-5p, and E2F7 was verified using a combination of dual-luciferase reporter gene, RNA immunoprecipitation, and RNA pull-down assays. The SNHG12, miR-129-5p, and E2F7 expression was measured by RT-qPCR. After GC cell-derived EVs were isolated and co-cultured with human peritoneal mesothelial cells (HPMCs), the uptake of EVs by HPMCs was observed under laser scanning confocal microscopy. Cell viability and apoptosis were examined using cell counting kit-8 and flow cytometry, respectively. Western blot analysis was performed to measure the mesothelial–mesenchymal transition (MMT)-related protein expression. The pathological and morphological characteristics of metastatic tumors in nude mice were observed by hematoxylin–eosin staining. A high SNHG12 expression was correlated with the poor prognosis of patients with GC. GC-derived EVs led to increased HPMC apoptosis and MMT by transferring SNHG12, whereas the knockdown of SNHG12 annulled the aforementioned results. SNHG12 sponged miR-129-5p to boost E2F7 expression and activate the MAPK/ERK signaling, thus inducing HPMC apoptosis and MMT. In vivo experiments further verified that EVs derived from GC cells promoted peritoneal metastasis in nude mice. GC cell-derived EVs elevated the E2F7 expression and activated the MAPK/ERK signaling to promote peritoneal metastasis through the delivery of SNHG12.

The removal of antibiotics from wastewater to prevent their environmental accumulation is significant for human health and ecosystems. Herein, iron (Fe)-atom-doped anatase TiO2 nanofibers (Fe-TNs) were manufactured for the photocatalytic Fenton-like decomposition of tylosin (TYL) under LED illumination. Compared with the pristine TiO2 nanofibers (TNs), the optimized Fe-TNs exhibited improved visible-light-driven photocatalytic Fenton-like activity with a TYL degradation efficiency of 98.5% within 4 h. The effective TYL degradation could be attributed to the expanded optical light absorption and accelerated separation and migration of photogenerated electrons and holes after the introduction of Fe. The photogenerated electrons were highly conducive to the generation of active SO4•− radicals as they facilitated Fe(III)/Fe(II) cycles, and to oxidizing TYL. Moreover, the holes could be involved in TYL degradation. Thus, a significant enhancement in TYL degradation could be achieved. This research verifies the use of iron-doped anatase nanofibers as an effective method to synthesize novel photocatalytic Fenton-like catalysts through surface engineering for wastewater remediation.

18. Clinical Study of Acupotomy Treatment for Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome

Background Compared with conventional closed therapy, acupotomy has the advantages of lower cost, convenient application, and better single and long-term effects. The aim of this study was to explore the clinical effect of acupotomy in the treatment of Tarsal Tunnel syndrome. Methods There were 80 patients enrolled into the study who were randomly assigned to either the acupotomy or closed therapy group, with 40 patients in each group. The acupotomy group was treated once every 6 days, on 3 occasions for the duration of treatment, and the closed therapy group was treated twice a week, for 3 weeks as the course of treatment. The effects of treatment were analyzed and evaluated according to the standard of curative effect. Results The “cure rate” of the number of patients in the acupotomy group whose symptoms had completely disappeared (13 patient out of 39) was higher than the closed therapy group (1 patient out of 39), and this difference was significant (p < 0.01). The number of patients in the acupotomy group who did not benefit from the therapy (5 patients) was significantly lower than the closed therapy group (15 patients; p < 0.05). The total number of patients in the acupotomy group who benefitted from the therapy (34 patients) resulted in an effective rate of 87.18%, which was higher than the closed therapy group (24 patients; 61.53%). The difference was statistically significant (p < 0.05). Conclusion Acupotomy is effective in the treatment of Tarsal Tunnel syndrome, was superior to traditional closed therapy, and is worthy of clinical application.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the mechanism of acupotomology (Apo) in the prevention of articular cartilage destruction via the promotion of chondrocyte proliferation and chondrocyte expression of cell cycle regulators, CyclinD1, CDK4 and CDK6 in a rabbit knee osteoarthritis (KOA) model. Methods: Twenty-eight rabbits were randomly divided into a control group, an OA (osteoarthritis) model group, an Apo (acupotomology) group and EA (electro-acupuncture) group (n = 7). Improved Videman's method was used to induce a rabbit model of KOA over 6 weeks. One week later, acupotomy and electro-acupuncture therapy was applied to animals in the respective groups and treatment lasted 4 weeks. Following these treatments, quantitative real-time PCR, immunohistochemical staining and western blotting were performed to assess the mRNA and protein levels of cell cycle regulators CyclinD1 (Cell cycle protein D1), CDK4 (Cyclin-dependent kinase 4) and CDK6 (Cyclin-dependent kinase 6). 21. Examining Spatio-Temporal Dynamics of Ecological Quality in the Pan-Third Pole Region in the Past 20 Years

Examining the ecology quality of the Pan-Third Pole region has implications for global environmental change and sustainable development. However, spatio-temporal evolution of ecological quality in this region is still lacking. In this study, 65 countries of the Pan-Third Pole region were selected. A comprehensive evaluation index system of ecological quality was constructed using a dataset containing remote sensing, ecological environment and socio-economic data to spatially quantify the ecological quality, as well as its change from 2000 to 2020. The results displayed that the average ecological quality of the Pan-Third Pole region was at a moderate level of 0.53. Spatially, the excellent ecological quality regions were mainly concentrated in East Asian countries, while the severe quality regions were located in the Middle East. From 2000–2020, areas with improved ecological changes accounted for 38.48% of the total area, and 10.66% of the total area experienced a decline; specifically, European countries had a large proportion of improved ecological quality areas, while East Asian countries had a significantly larger proportion of declining ecological quality areas. We also found that ecosystem changes and human activities had an influence on ecological quality in the Pan-Third Pole region. This study provides an important empirical study on ecosystem services in the region.

22. Characteristics of Changes in Urban Land Use and Efficiency Evaluation in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau from 1990 to 2020

The Qinghai–Tibet Plateau has seen decades of changes in land use/cover as a result of urbanization and regional planning policy. Research on the efficiency of social development aids in the pursuit of social and environmental sustainability. Based on CLUD and socioeconomic statistical data, this study systematically analyses the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of urban land use in the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau and evaluates its social development efficiency from three perspectives—the holistic, the municipal, and urban hierarchy—by using indicators such as the Moran index, land use efficiency, and urban expansion speed and proportion. Results show that the urbanization rate climbed from 21.26% to 54.95%, and the area of urban lands increased from 201.93 km2 to 796.59 km2 from 1990 to 2020, with urban lands expanding from the Lanzhou–Xining City Area to the central and south of the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau. The holistic urban land use efficiency grew from 1.14 to 1.53, while the UPD decreased slightly from 1.44 to 1.31, and the UED increased steadily from 1.40 to 12.97 per decade. Moreover, we should pay attention to the rational allocation of land in human, social and ecosystem terms to comprehensively improve the quality of urbanization across the plateau.

Background: The main reason for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) treatment failure is metastasis. Little is known about the mechanisms involved in the metastasis of ESCC, and there is a lack of effective therapeutic targets. In our previous study, we found that patients with high levels of BC200 tended to have poor prognoses.Methods: First, we applied qRT-PCR to detect the expression level of BC200 in normal esophageal squamous epithelial cells and ESCC cells with different degrees of differentiation ability. Then, we changed BC200 expression by transfecting constructed lentiviruses that included BC200 shRNA (LV-BC200-shRNA, KD), negative control (CON053, NC), or BC200 gene (LV-BC200, BC200) to create BC200-deficient cell models in KYSE410 and KYSE70 cells and BC200 overexpression cell models in EC9706 cells and verified the transfection effect by qRT-PCR. Then, we examined cell migration by wound healing assay, invasion by Transwell assay, and proliferation by MTT assay and examined the metastasis ability in a xenograft mouse model. Gene expression profiling was performed to screen a panel of mRNAs following inhibition of BC200 expression. We then used ingenuity pathway analysis (IPA) to analyze the functions of the changed molecules and their interactions. The results from the microarray were validated by qRT-PCR and Western blotting.Results: In this study, we found that the expression of BC200 in poorly differentiated cell lines was significantly higher than that in well-differentiated cell lines. BC200 can significantly promote the migration and invasion but not the proliferation ability of ESCC cells in vitro and BC200 shRNA can significantly suppress tumor metastasis in vivo. Our genome-wide expression profile chip showed 406 differentially expressed genes, with 91 upregulated genes and 315 downregulated genes. The upstream regulator analysis showed that ATF4 was predicted to be strongly inhibited and 21 genes were consistently inhibited by this gene. Our qRT-PCR and Western blotting data also identified the reduced expression of ATF4 and some selected downstream genes, such as SNAIL2, GADD45A, and PSAT1, as a consequence of downregulating BC200 expression in ESCC.Conclusion: Our data showed that BC200 promoted the metastasis of ESCC cells and could regulate the expression of ATF4 and its downstream genes.

Purpose Nitrification inhibitor plays an important regulatory role in inhibiting the nitrification of ammonium in soils. However, most of nitrification inhibitors lack the sustainable effects in suppressing the nitrification of ammonium. In this study, a novel DMS nitrification inhibitor was prepared and tested to explore its lasting effect of nitrification suppression in black soil. Materials and methods Both culture experiments and field trial were performed in black soils. Three kinds of nitrification inhibitors (NIs), dicyandiamide (DCD) with low bioactivity, 3,4-dimethylpyrazole phosphate (DMPP) with high bioactivity, and a novel 3,4-dimethylpyrazole sulfate zinc (DMS) with long half-life, were applied into soils, respectively, and the abundance changes of ammonia-oxidizing archaea (AOA) and ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) were investigated; then, the accumulation changes of inorganic nitrogen, nitrogen use efficiency, and crop yields were furtherly evaluated. Results and discussions A novel DMS nitrification inhibitor with high activity and long half-life maintained a persistent effect of nitrification suppression, and remarkably increased the accumulation of ammonium nitrogen in soil, thus improving nitrogen use efficiency and crop yields. This study implies that lowering the nitrogen loss of nitrification-triggered in soil is of great importance for improving nitrogen use efficiency. Conclusions This study provided an insight into the sustainable nitrification suppression of a novel DMS nitrification inhibitor under excessive application of nitrogen fertilizer in black soils. Compared with improving the activity, reasonably prolonging the validity of nitrification inhibitors in soil is a more important strategy increasing the sustainable effects of nitrification inhibition, and the survival period of nitrification inhibitors in soil should be a crucial factor improving nitrogen use efficiency.

Severe volume expansion and inherently poor lithium ion transmission are two major problems of silicon anodes. To address these issues, we proposed a pomegranate-type Si/C composite anode with highly dispersed tiny silicon particles as the core assisted by small amount of SiC. Skillfully exploiting the high heat from magnesiothermic reduction, SiC can assist the good dispersion of silicon and provide good interface compatibility and chemical stability. The silicon anchored to the carbon shell provides multipoint contact mode, that together with the carbon shell frame, significantly promoting the transfer of dual charge. Besides, the pomegranate-type microcluster structure also improves the tap density of the electrode, reduces the direct contact area between active material and electrolyte, and enhances the electrochemical performance.

Unmasking the complex regulatory pathways that mediate the malignant phenotypes of cancer cells can provide novel targets for therapies that could limit the recurrence and metastasis of gastric cancer (GC). Herein, we intended to clarify the role of embryonic ectoderm development protein (EED), microRNA-228-5p (miR-338-5p), methyltransferase like 3 (METTL3) and CUB domain containing protein 1 (CDCP1) in GC. Differentially expressed miRNAs and their target genes were extracted by in silico analysis. The studies revealed high expression of EED in GC tissues and cell lines and it high expression in GC patients was shown to be associated with poor prognosis. The chromatin immunoprecipitation assay identified that EED methylated miR-338-5p to inhibit its expression. EED knockdown could restrain the proliferative and invasive abilities of GC cells by inducing miR-338-5p. Furthermore, miR-338-5p targeted m6A methylase METTL3, while METTL3 amplified the translation of CDCP1 via m6A activity which led to accelerated proliferation and invasion of GC cells. Moreover, in vivo experiments validated that EED promoted the progression of GC through mediating the miR-338-5p/METTL3/CDCP1 axis. Collectively, EED downregulated miR-338-5p through histone methylation, which in turn impaired miR-338-5p-dependent METTL3 inhibition and enhanced CDCP1 translation, therefore contributing to the development of GC.

Crosstalk between cancer and interstitial cells significantly affects cancer development, modulated partly by chemokines production. When present in the tumor microenvironment, CXC chemokines have been shown to regulate tumor cell activity and influence immune cell transport, resulting in anti-tumor immune mechanisms and influencing the outcomes of the patient; nonetheless, the CXC chemokines expression levels in COAD, as well as their prognostic significance, have not yet been established.Methods: This study used UALCAN, GeneMANIA, STRING, TRRUST, cBioPortal, TIMER, and GEPIA,Results: The expression of CXC1/2/3/5/6/11/12/13/14/16/17 in COAD patients was shown to be significantly correlated with the pathological stage. A considerably improved prognosis was observed in patients with low transcriptional levels of CXCL9/10/11. Differentially expressed CXC chemokines exert roles that are predominantly correlated with the chemokine signaling pathway and interactions of cytokine–cytokine receptors. Our findings indicated that the transcriptional factors, including SP1, RELA, and NFKB1 are essential for the production of CXC chemokines. Furthermore, we discovered a substantial association between the CXC chemokines production and infiltration of 6 kinds of immune cells (CD8+ T cells, dendritic cells, B cells, CD4+ T cells, neutrophils, and macrophages,). Conclusions: These findings might be useful in identifying prognostic indicators and immunotherapeutic targets for colon cancer.

Background: Compared with conventional closed therapy, acupotomy has the advantages of lower cost, convenient application, and better single and long-term effects. The aim of this study was to explore the clinical effect of acupotomy in the treatment of Tarsal Tunnel syndrome.Methods: There were 80 patients enrolled into the study who were randomly assigned to either the acupotomy or closed therapy group, with 40 patients in each group. The acupotomy group was treated once every 6 days, on 3 occasions for the duration of treatment, and the closed therapy group was treated twice a week, for 3 weeks as the course of treatment. The effects of treatment were analyzed and evaluated according to the standard of curative effect.Results: The “cure rate” of the number of patients in the acupotomy group whose symptoms had completely disappeared (13 patient out of 39) was higher than the closed therapy group (1 patient out of 39), and this difference was significant (p < 0.01). The number of patients in the acupotomy group who did not benefit from the therapy (5 patients) was significantly lower than the closed therapy group (15 patients; p < 0.05). The total number of patients in the acupotomy group who benefitted from the therapy (34 patients) resulted in an effective rate of 87.18%, which was higher than the closed therapy group (24 patients; 61.53%). The difference was statistically significant (p < 0.05).Conclusion: Acupotomy is effective in the treatment of Tarsal Tunnel syndrome, was superior to traditional closed therapy, and is worthy of clinical application.

Oxide nano-springs have attracted many research interests because of their anti-corrosion, high-temperature tolerance, oxidation resistance, and enhanced-mechanic-response from unique helix structures, enabling various nano-manipulators, nano-motors, nano-switches, sensors, and energy harvesters. However, preparing oxide nano-springs is a challenge for their intrinsic nature of lacking elasticity. Here, we developed an approach for preparing self-assembled, epitaxial, ferroelectric nano-springs with built-in strain due to the lattice mismatch in freestanding La0.7Sr0.3MnO3/BaTiO3 (LSMO/BTO) bilayer heterostructures. We find that these LSMO/BTO nano-springs can be extensively pulled or pushed up to their geometry limits back and forth without breaking, exhibiting super-scalability with full recovery capability. The phase-field simulations reveal that the excellent scalability originates from the continuous ferroelastic domain structures, resulting from twisting under co-existing axial and shear strains. In addition, the oxide hetero-structural springs exhibit strong resilience due to the limited plastic deformation nature and the built-in strain between the bilayers. This discovery provides an alternative way for preparing and operating functional oxide nano-springs that can be applied to various technologies.

Doping multielectronic elements into carbon materials is an effective method to improve their electrochemical performance, as it can not only improve the electrical conductivity of the material, but also capture more lithium ions when they are involved in Li-ion battery. Here, using flour as biomass carbon source, the chlorine/phosphorus dual-elements doped porous carbon materials are obtained by pyrolysis at 800 °C and hydrochloric acid treatment. The introduction of chlorine can significantly increase the capacity of carbon materials. Importantly, the hydrogen in mixed gas during heat treatment process can increase the degree of ordered carbon, which led to the improvement of material conductivity and the ability of lithium ions intercalation, further improving the cycling performance and rate performance. Under the current density of 0.2 A g−1, it can remain 535.2 mAh g−1 after 200 cycles. And after two months resting, the capacity only decline by 5.9%, and can still keep the stable cycling performance to 500 cycles. The simple and low cost design of carbon is a creative and promising candidate for anode materials of high performance Li-ion batteries.

Small nucleolar RNA host gene 1 (SNHG1) is critical in the progression of cancers. However, the mechanism by which SNHG1 regulates the progression of colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unclear. Expressions of SNHG1 and miR‐137 in CRC tissues and cell lines were evaluated by quantitative real‐time polymerase chain reaction. A luciferase reporter gene assay was conducted to investigate miR‐137 target. Additionally, RNA pull‐down assay was performed to explore the physical association between miR‐137, SNHG1, and RNA induced silencing complex (RISC). Cell cycling and invasion were examined by flow cytometry (FCM) and transwell assays. The in vivo carcinogenic activity of SNHG1 was examined using murine xenograft models. Expression of RICTOR, serine/threonine kinase 1 (AKT), serum and glucocorticoid‐inducible kinase 1 (SGK1), p70S6K1, and LC3II/LC3I ratio was examined by Western blot analysis. SNHG1 upregulation was observed in CRC tissues and cell lines, which was associated with the lymph node metastasis, advanced TNM stage and poorer prognosis. SNHG1 increased RICTOR level in CRC via sponging miR‐137. In addition, SNHG1 silencing inhibited CRC cell proliferation and migration in vitro and in vivo. SNHG1 regulated RICTOR expression by sponging miR‐137 and promoted tumorgenesis in CRC.

Introduction The knives for endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) have their strengths as well as shortcomings. They need to be used in combination in most cases. The Dual knife is a relatively novel type of ESD knife produced in 2009, which can be used for completing the whole procedure of ESD. Aim Colorectal laterally spreading tumors (LSTs) are a special subtype of colorectal neoplasms. We aimed to evaluate the clinical features and outcomes of ESD for colorectal LSTs only using the Dual knife from our experience. Material and methods This retrospective study included 162 patients (each patient had 1 lesion) with colorectal LSTs treated by ESD with the Dual knife by a single endoscopist at our hospital between June 2015 and January 2018. We analyzed the clinical features and outcomes after resection. Results We obtained the en bloc ESD of the colorectal LSTs and the complete histological assessment in all patients. The mean age of the patients was 53.9 years. The mean diameter of lesions was 46 mm. The most common location of LSTs was the rectum. The most common histological type was tubular adenoma with 63 cases. The mean operating time was 56 min. Perforation and bleeding rates were 0.6% and 0.6%, respectively. No cases of local persistence or recurrence were observed at a follow-up endoscopy 6 to 31 months after the en bloc resection. Conclusions The ESD using the Dual knife only for colorectal LSTs has the advantages of safety, efficiency, and minimally invasiveness. It is worthy of widespread clinical application.

In this work, PtCo nanoparticles (NPs) on hierarchically ordered mesoporous carbon (PtCo/OMC) are synthesized for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) aiming to improve the activity and durability of the Pt-based catalyst towards oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Specifically, the OMC is prepared through a solvent evaporation-induced self-assembly (EISA) method by using a triblock copolymer PEO-PPO-PEO as the structure agent, followed by annealing in the nitrogen atmosphere to decompose the structure agent and to carbonize the carbon precursor. PtCo nanoparticles (NPs) are fabricated with an average diameter of 3.3 nm by H2 reduction and galvanic replacement in an acid solution, and then are uniformly dispersed onto the OMC via impregnation. The typical mesoporous structure of the OMC enhances the uniformly distribution and thermal stability of the small-sized PtCo NPs. The activity and the durability of the as-prepared PtCo/OMC catalyst are investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and single-cell test. In the electrochemical tests, PtCo/OMC exhibits a high ECSA value of 88.56 m2g−1, and a ECSA retention of 77.5% after 5000 CV cycles. The results show that the PtCo/OMC catalyst is more active and more stable than the commercial-carbon-supported PtCo catalyst (PtCo/XC-72). PtCo nanoparticles (NPs) on hierarchically ordered mesoporous carbon (PtCo/OMC) are synthesized aiming to improve the activity and stability of the Pt-based catalyst for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Due to the natural mesoporous and graphite-carbon nanostructure of the OMC, the as-prepared PtCo/OMC catalyst is more active and more stable than the PtCo NPs on the commercial Vulcan@ XC-72 support (PtCo/XC-72), showing great potential in proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs).

In order to obtain the high level of γ-aminobutyric acid Moringa oleifera leaves, Use 7% sodium glutamate solution to soak the fresh Moringa oleifera leaves, study effect of different treatment times and three different drying methods( hot air drying, vacuum freeze drying, shadow drying) on the formation of y-aminobutyric acid and quality (total flavonoids, soluble sugar, amino acids, polyphenols, color)of dried Moringa oleifera leaves. The results indicated that shadow-dried Moringa oleifera leaves had the hightest retention of γ-aminobutyric acid, but its browning degree were not preferable, soluble sugar was damaged gravely, and its vulnerable to weather conditions. Vacuum freeze dried Moringa oleifera leaves had the hightest retention of flavonoids, polyphenols and amino acids. The y-aminobutyric acid content of Vacuum freeze dried and hot air dried Moringa oleifera leaves had no much difference. Hot air dried Moringa oleifera leaves browning degree were preferable, it’s had an moderate content of soluble sugar and amino acids, the short drying time is characteristics of this drying method.with the treatment time increased, the content of γ-aminobutyric acid and amino acids content first increased and then decreased. Flavonoids and polyphenols content first decreased and then increased. Soluble sugar content decreased. In summary, after soaking with 7% sodium glutamate solution for 10h, then dried by hot air drying(drying temperature of 60°C), was the most suitable way for industrial production of the high level of γ-aminobutyric acid Moringa oleifera leaves.

Background: The main reason for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) treatment failure is metastasis. Little is known about the mechanisms involved in the metastasis of ESCC, and there is a lack of effective therapeutic targets. In our previous study, we found that patients with high levels of BC200 tended to have poor prognoses. Methods: First, we applied qRT-PCR to detect the expression level of BC200 in normal esophageal squamous epithelial cells and ESCC cells with different degrees of differentiation ability. Then, we changed BC200 expression by transfecting constructed lentiviruses that included BC200 shRNA (LV-BC200-shRNA, KD), negative control (CON053, NC), or BC200 gene (LV-BC200, BC200) to create BC200-deficient cell models in KYSE410 and KYSE70 cells and BC200 overexpression cell models in EC9706 cells and verified the transfection effect by qRT-PCR. Then, we examined cell migration by wound healing assay, invasion by Transwell assay, and proliferation by MTT assay and examined the metastasis ability in a xenograft mouse model. Gene expression profiling was performed to screen a panel of mRNAs following inhibition of BC200 expression. We then used ingenuity pathway analysis (IPA) to analyze the functions of the changed molecules and their interactions. The results from the microarray were validated by qRT-PCR and Western blotting. Results: In this study, we found that the expression of BC200 in poorly differentiated cell lines was significantly higher than that in well-differentiated cell lines. BC200 can significantly promote the migration and invasion but not the proliferation ability of ESCC cells in vitro and BC200 shRNA can significantly suppress tumor metastasis in vivo. Our genome-wide expression profile chip showed 406 differentially expressed genes, with 91 upregulated genes and 315 downregulated genes. The upstream regulator analysis showed that ATF4 was predicted to be strongly inhibited and 21 genes were consistently inhibited by this gene. Our qRT-PCR and Western blotting data also identified the reduced expression of ATF4 and some selected downstream genes, such as SNAIL2, GADD45A, and PSAT1, as a consequence of downregulating BC200 expression in ESCC. Conclusion: Our data showed that BC200 promoted the metastasis of ESCC cells and could regulate the expression of ATF4 and its downstream genes.

Perovskite ferroelectric oxides are usually considered to be brittle materials; however, recent work [Dong et al., Science 366, 475 (2019)] demonstrated the super-elasticity in the freestanding BaTiO3 thin films. This property may originate from the ferroelectric domain evolution during the bending, which is difficult to observe in experiments. Therefore, understanding the relation among the bending deformation, thickness of the films, and domain dynamics is critical for their potential applications in flexible ferroelectric devices. Here, we reported the dynamics of ferroelectric polarization in the freestanding BaTiO3 ultrathin films in the presence of large bending deformation up to 40° using phase-field simulation. The ferroelectric domain evolution reveals the transition from the flux-closure to a/c domains with “vortex-like” structures, which is caused by the increase in out-of-plane ferroelectric polarization. Additionally, by varying the film thickness in the identical bending situation, we found that the a/c phase with a vortex-like structure emerges only as the film thickness reached 12 nm or higher. The results from our investigations provide instructive information for the microstructure evolution of bending ferroelectric perovskite oxide films, which could serve as a guide for the future application of ferroelectric films on flexible electronic devices.

44. Effect of acupotomy versus electroacupuncture on ethology and morphology in a rabbit model of knee osteoarthritis

To evaluate the treatment effect of acupotomy (Apo) in a rabbit model of knee osteoarthritis (KOA), compare the results of Apo versus electroacupuncture (E-Apu) on ethology, morphology, and structure of the articular cartilage surface in a rabbit model of KOA, and analyze the differences in the treatment effects of Apo versus E-Apu.Twenty-eight male New Zealand white rabbits were randomized into four groups: normal control, blank model, Apo, and E-Apu (n = 7 in each group). Except for the normal control group, the left hindlegs of all rabbits were fixed in an extended position for 5 weeks to establish the KOA model. The passive range of motion (PROM) and Lequesne index were measured before and after the establishment of the KOA model to assess the ethology in all groups. Safranin O-fast green staining and the Mankin score were used to assess the morphological cartilaginous changes to compare the effect of Apo versus E-Apu on the degeneration of articular cartilage, and to identify which therapy was superior in treating KOA.Compared with before the establishment of the KOA model, the Lequesne index of the KOA model rabbits was significantly increased (P0.01), while the PROM was significantly decreased (P0.01). The articular cartilaginous tissue in the three model groups exhibited pathological variations in the form of laminar derangement of cartilage cells, and so the Mankin score was significantly increased compared with the control group (P0.01). At 1 week after the final treatment session, compared with the blank model group, both the Apo and E-Apu groups showed a significant decrease in the Lequesne index (P0.01), and attenuation in the degree of morphologic pathological changes (P0.05); The Apo improved the PROM significantly compared with the blank model group (P0.05), while the E-Apu had no effect (P0.05). Furthermore, compared with the E-Apu group, the Apo group had a significantly lower Lequesne index (P0.05), and a significantly greater PROM (P0.05).In a rabbit model of KOA, both Apo and E-Apu reduce disorders of ethology and morphology, and improve the condition of the articular cartilage. The results suggest that Apo is more effective than E-Apu in improving the PROM and alleviating symptoms resulting from cartilage damage in a rabbit model of KOA.

A series of Ni-modified Mo2C catalysts with La2O3-stabilized ZrO2 supports were synthesized via template method coupled with incipient wetness impregnation and temperature-programmed carbonization. The catalyst was tested in dry reforming of methane (DRM) reaction at the temperature range from 973 to 1173 K in a fixed-bed quartz reactor under atmospheric pressure. XRD, Raman, BET, H2-TPD, SEM, EDS and TEM were conducted to characterize the phase constitution, the pore structure, the morphology and the crystal structure of the catalysts. Ni–Mo2C nanoparticles of ~ 3 nm diameter were obtained for these catalysts, and the La2O3–ZrO2 supports exhibited a cubic lattice structure with a sheet shape, which is believed to contain an abundant of oxygen vacancies. And the synergistic interaction between the oxygen vacancy in La–Zr–O solid solution and the Ni–Mo2C particles could decrease the apparent activation energy of CO2. Both of them are beneficial for accelerating DRM reaction. CH4 conversion of the best specimen catalyst reaches 94% at 1173 K, and the catalyst maintains its stability after 100-h reaction. The superior catalytic activity of NMLZ-7.5 is attributed to the improved BET surface area (33.2 m2/g), smaller crystallites, grain boundaries and oxidation–carbonization cycle of Ni–Mo2C.

46. A hydrazone dual-functional fluorescent probe based on carbazole and coumarin groups for the detection of Cu2+ and ClO−: Application in live cell imaging and actual water samples

A new hydrazone derivative LL3 based on carbazole and coumarin was prepared by the condensation of 7-diethylaminocoumarin-3-carbohydrazide with 3-aldehyde-N-butyl carbazole and its structure was characterized using FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, MS and elemental analysis techniques. LL3 could be used as a dual-functional fluorescent probe to identify Cu2+ and ClO−. Probe LL3 could recognize Cu2+ and formed a 2:1 complex. Under a 365 nm UV lamp, the color changed from yellowish to blue-green which could be readily distinguished by the naked eye. Meanwhile, under the catalysis of ClO−, the imine bond of probe LL3 was hydrolyzed to obtain carbazolealdehyde, resulting in specific UV-Vis and fluorescence phenomena, so as to realize the detection of ClO−. The recognition mechanism was proved by spectrometric titrations, Job’s plots, FT-IR, 1H NMR, mass spectroscopy (MS) and density functional theory (DFT) calculation analysis. The results of live cell imaging showed that LL3 could be used as a fluorescent probe to detect Cu2+ and ClO− in Hela cells. In addition, the probe LL3 could also be made into a test strip for the detection of Cu2+ in actual water samples.

A series of Cu-X/?-Al2O3 (X = Fe, Co, Ni) catalysts were synthesized by a rapid intermittent microwave irradiation method for hydrogen generation from dimethyl ether steam reforming. Different parameters, such as the promoters of X (X = Fe, Co, Ni), microwave irradiation procedure and the ratio of metal to ?-Al2O3, were investigated. The results show that 2Cu-Fe/72?-Al2O3 has the best performance, for which the agglomeration is prevented, CuO is well dispersed and the catalytic activity is improved. Promoter iron oxide in 2Cu-Fe/9?-Al2O3 facilitates the watergas shift reaction, which lead to an increase in the conversion of CO to CO2 and hydrogen yield. Particularly, the 2Cu-Fe/72?-Al2O3 catalyst, with the best molar ratio of metal to ?-Al2O3, shows a dimethyl ether conversion of >99% and a hydrogen yield of >98% and produces the lowest CO content of 1.4%, indicating that the synergism between dimethyl ether hydrolysis and methanol reforming requires an appropriate balance between the metallic Cu-Fe and the acid ?-Al2O3. The intermittent microwave irradiation technique provides a simple but effective method of the Cu-Fe/?-Al2O3 synthesis with a good catalyst performance for the dimethyl ether steam reforming.

This work offers an effective size-controlled synthesis of platinum nanoparticle (Pt NP) arrays for electrocatalyst through self-assembled nanopatterns of block copolymers on titanium (Ti) wafers. Size, spacing and uniformity of Pt NP with loading of Pt to a minimum were investigated to be controlled and adjusted in order to improve the electrochemically active surface area (ECSA) and ECSA stability, and Pt concentration in copolymer/chloroplatinic acid (H2PtCl6) solution was verified to be one of the most important factors to control the arrays’ structure. In our case, the Pt NPs with predictable size of 5–16.5 nm could be obtained when the Pt concentration is larger than 0.05 mg ml−1, which the dominant diameter is proved to be proportional to one-third power of the Pt concentration according to the linear relation of templates’ Pt/N mass ratio versus Pt concentration, and the Pt NPs remain highly ordered arrays with predictable spacing when the Pt concentration is larger than 0.125 mg ml−1. Decrease in Pt concentration from 2 to 0.125 mg ml−1 is an effective method to improve the ECSA and durability simultaneously. The Pt NP arrays exhibit not only a remarkable initial ECSA value of 106.2 m2 g−1, but also a pseudo-zero particle aggregation possibility during 3000-cycle voltammetry, which is attributed to the high Pt NP dispersion and the ordered arrays that improve the Pt utilization and lower the possibility of aggregation.

Ni/CeO 2 -ZrO 2 was encapsulated by SiO 2 layer with expectation to obtain a high active catalyst for steam reforming of toluene. The coating structure was validated by X-ray diffraction experiments and electron microscope analysis. XPS data suggests the formation of a new Ni-O-Si configuration in core-shell catalysts. The presence of Ni-O-Si configuration shift electron from Ni to silica and thereby facilitates the intrinsic properties of catalysts. Compared to Ni/CeO 2 -ZrO 2 , turnover rate of Ni increased substantially in core-shell structures, Ni/CeO 2 -ZrO 2 @SiO 2 with shell-to-core mass ratio as 1.0 showed about 5.5 times higher than the Ni/CeO 2 -ZrO 2 catalyst.
