Esta pesquisa tem por objetivo verificar a aplicabilidade da relação CustoVolume-Lucro (CVL) na produção de tilápias em tanques-redes de águas públicas. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, descritiva, a qual se baseia em dados primários como fonte e os achados foram analisados por meio do Microsof Office Excel®. O período analisado compreende os meses de janeiro de 2017 a maio de 2018, referente a dois ciclos de criação e comercialização. Os principais achados da pesquisa tratam sobre a relação CVL possuir aplicabilidade na produção de tilápias, fornecendo informações úteis a tomada de decisão, especialmente no que diz respeito ao ponto de equilíbrio, a margem de contribuição, margem de segurança e Grau de Alavancagem Operacional (GAO). Em relação ao objeto desta pesquisa, a CVL revelou que o filé de tilápia e o peixe vivo, apesar de representarem quase 90% das receitas, não são os principais formadores unitários do lucro, o qual é representado pelo peixe eviscerado (47,13%). Esta pesquisa contribui com o incentivo de pesquisas relacionadas com a gestão financeira na piscicultura, produzindo informações que podem auxiliar a elaboração do planejamento estratégico e ao melhoramento da gestão do negócio.

This work developed a reflection on the city of Beirut, in the region of the container terminal and the Karantina neighborhood. One of the biggest challenges of the project was to understand the potential of the infrastructure as a tool to consolidate the urban fabric of the city, namely how to articulate the neighborhood, the terminal and the river. Another challenge of the project was the articulation of spaces between artificial or natural barriers. Regarding the Karantina neighborhood there was the potential to design and urbanize this area as if this intervention is not only localized, but as a general strategy to dynamize already consolidated spaces in the city, as Lteif said “In a way, Karantina is a microcosm of Lebanon”. After the exposure of the military events that tore Lebanon apart, the Syrian refugees from the war in Syria, the city divided in two based, the lack of public spaces, the lack of fresh green areas, and the potential for connection between the port, the river the neighborhood and the city instead of a disadvantage would be used in one strategy, a great symbiosis where everyone can live in community. We can check out how the boundaries would help reconnect people and their cultures in Beirut. It was as a basis for the urban redesign of the neighborhood, the river waterfront, as of the container terminal, that I intended to suppress the needs of the place after damage caused by the explosion of the silos in the port. Este trabalho desenvolveu-se uma reflexão sobre a cidade de Beirut, na região do terminal de contentores e no Bairro da Karantina. Um dos maiores desafios do projeto foi entender a potencialidade da infraestrutura como ferramenta consolidadora do tecido urbano da cidade, nomeadamente como articular o Bairro o terminal e rio. Outro desafio do projeto foram a articulação de espaços entre barreiras artificiais ou naturais. Relativamente ao bairro da Karantina havia o potencial de projetar e urbanizar esta área como se esta intervenção não seja apenas localizada, mas como uma estratégia geral para dinamizar espaços já consolidados na cidade, como disse Lteif “De certa forma, a Karantina é um microcosmo do Líbano”. Após a exposição dos eventos militares que dilaceraram o Líbano, a vinda de mais de um milhão de refugiados Sírios oriundos da guerra na Síria, a guerra civil, a cidade dividida em dois com base a religião praticada, a falta de espaços públicos, a inexistência de zonas verdes frescas, e o potencial de ligação entre o porto, o rio o bairro e a cidade em vez de uma desvantagem, seriam utilizados numa única estratégia, uma grande simbiose onde todos podem viver em comunidade. Podemos conferir como os limites iriam ajudar a conectar novamente as pessoas e as suas culturas em Beirut. Foi como base no redesenho urbano do bairro, da foz e marginal do rio, como do terminal de contentores, que pretendo suprimir as necessidades do local após os vastos danos originados pela explosão dos silos do porto.

[EN] Balance disorders can have substantial adverse implications on the performance of daily activities and lead to an increased risk of falls, which often have severe negative consequences for older adults. Quantitative assessment through computerized force plate-based posturography enables objective assessment of postural control but could not successfully represent specific abilities required during daily activities. The use of virtual reality (VR) could improve the representative design of functional activities and increase the ecological validity of posturographic tests, which would enhance the transferability of results to the real world. In this work, we investigate the feasibility of a simulated bus ride experienced in a surround-screen VR system to assess balance with increased ecological validity. Participants were first evaluated with a posturography test and then with the VR-based bus ride test, while the reactions of their centre of pressure were registered. Lastly, participants provided self-reported measures of the elicited sense of presence during the test. A total of 16 healthy young adults completed the study. Results showed that the simulation could elicit significant medial-lateral excursions of the centre of pressure in response to variations in the optical flow. Furthermore, these responses' amplitude negatively correlated with the participants' posturography excursions when fixating a target. Outro fator que leva para que as empresas comecem a apostar na análise destas métricas é o constante crescimento das redes sociais e um papel mais ativo por parte do consumidor. No desenvolvimento do estudo de caso que foi elaborado na marca Flamingo S.A, uma fábrica de peças ourivesarias, tendo também venda para o mercado Business como consumidor final. Dentro da empresa foram desenvolvidos relatórios com base nas métricas,do impacto das marcas nas redes sociais como Facebook e Instagram, bem como a sua relevância tanto numa perpetiva de impacto no alcance das publicações efetuadas como a sua interceção com os utilizadores. KPIs are crucial indicators for the development of decision-making processes by companies, and it is increasingly necessary for companies to bet on this kind of software, if they want to survive in this constantly changing market. Another factor that leads companies to start investing in the analysis of these metrics is the constant growth of social networks and a more active role on the part of the consumer. In the development of the case study that was carried out in the Flamingo S.A brand, a jewelry factory, also selling to the Business market as a final consumer. Within the company, reports were developed based on the metrics of the impact of brands on social networks such as Facebook and Instagram, which will be among themselves as well as their relevance in the impact both in the reach of the publications made as well as their interception with users.

Dissertação de mestrado integrado em Engenharia Informática, A aplicação de técnicas orientadas a objectos e de aprendizagem automática sobre imagens de satélite tem sido alvo de interesse nos últimos anos. O aumento da qualidade e quantidade de imagens, disponibilizadas por programas de observação da Terra como por exemplo o Programa Cope rnicus, levou à geração de uma grande quantidade de dados. De entre as várias aplicações destes dados destaca-se a criação de mapas do coberto do solo. Com a presente dissertação pretendia-se criar modelos de aprendizagem automática capazes de segmentar e classificar com precisão imagens de satélite, gerando automaticamente um mapa do coberto do território Português. Durante a dissertação foram realizadas várias experiências com as bandas espetrais do satélite Sentinel-2, com índices espetrais e com diversos conjuntos de classes do coberto. Foram testadas três arquiteturas nos modelos de aprendizagem automática treinados, que adotam duas técnicas diferentes para classificação das imagens. Numa das técnicas a classificação é orientada ao objeto, e neste caso a arquitetura adotada nos modelos foi uma rede neuronal artificial U-Net. Na outra técnica, a classificação é orientada ao pixel e os modelos de aprendizagem automática testados foram a floresta aleatória e a máquina de vetores de suporte. A acurácia global dos resultados obtidos variou entre 82.32% e 94.75%, dependendo fortemente do número de classes em que se classifica o coberto. O resultado de 94.75% foi obtido quando se classifica o coberto em apenas 5 dasses. Contudo conseguiu-se uma acurácia bem interessante de 92.37%, no modelo treinado para classificar 8 classes., The application of object-oriented and machine learning techniques on satellite imagery has been the subject of interest in recent years. The increase in quality and quantity of images, made available by Earth observation programs, such as the Copernicus program, led to the generation of a large amounts of data. Among the various applications of these data is the creation of land cover maps. This dissertation aimed to create machine learning models capable of accurately segment and classify satellite images, automatically generating a land cover map of the Portuguese territory. During the dissertation several experiments were carried out with the spectral bands of the Sentinel-2 satellite, with vegetation indices, and with several sets of land cover classes. Three architectures were tested in the trained machine learning models, which adopt two different techniques for image classification. One of the classification techniques follows an object-oriented approach, and in this case the architecture adopted in our models was a U-Net artificial neural network. The other classification technique is pixel-oriented, and the machine learning models tested were random forest and support vector machine. The overall accuracy of the results obtained ranged from 82.32% to 94.75%, depending strongly on the number of classes into which the land cover was classified. The result of 94.75% was obtained when classifying the cover into only 5 classes. However, a very interesting accuracy of 92.37% was achieved by the model trained to classify 8 classes.

No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2022-01-01 Rationale: The FDA-approved Dimethyl Fumarate (DMF) as an oral drug for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) treatment based on its immunomodulatory activities. However, it also caused severe adverse effects mainly related to the gastrointestinal system. Objective: Investigated the potential effects of solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) containing DMF, administered by inhalation on the clinical signs, central nervous system (CNS) inflammatory response, and lung function changes in mice with experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). Materials and methods: EAE was induced using MOG35-55 peptide in female C57BL/6J mice and the mice were treated via inhalation with DMF-encapsulated SLN (CTRL/SLN/DMF and EAE/SLN/DMF), empty SLN (CTRL/SLN and EAE/SLN), or saline solution (CTRL/saline and EAE/saline), every 72 h during 21 days. Results: After 21 days post-induction, EAE mice treated with DMF-loaded SLN, when compared with EAE/saline and EAE/SLN, showed decreased clinical score and weight loss, reduction in brain and spinal cord injury and inflammation, also related to the increased influx of Foxp3+ cells into the spinal cord and lung tissues. Moreover, our data revealed that EAE mice showed signs of respiratory disease, marked by increased vascular permeability, leukocyte influx, production of TNF-α and IL-17, perivascular and peribronchial inflammation, with pulmonary mechanical dysfunction associated with loss of respiratory volumes and elasticity, which DMF-encapsulated reverted in SLN nebulization. Conclusion: Our study suggests that inhalation of DMF-encapsulated SLN is an effective therapeutic protocol that reduces not only the CNS inflammatory process and disability progression, characteristic of EAE disease, but also protects mice from lung inflammation and pulmonary dysfunction. Objective: To know the experiences, practices and challenges for the development of the School Health Program through Primary Health Care. Methodology: An integrative literature review study was conducted, the secondary databases used were the Virtual Health Library, Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (LILACS) and the Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo). The articles were searched with the descriptors School Health Services, Family Health Strategy and Primary Health Care. Results: Twenty-eight articles were found in the Virtual Health Library database, 63 in Scielo and 17 in LILACS, with the aid of inclusion and exclusion criteria, the final sample consisted of 17 articles. The School Health Program is a unique opportunity to approach the health and education sectors, being a strategy to promote students' health, with numerous benefits. Final considerations: The actions developed in schools are punctual and unsystematic, only as responses to specific demands, which limits the scope of the actions of the School Health Program. Objetivo: Conocer las experiencias, prácticas y desafíos para el desarrollo del Programa de Salud Escolar a través de la Atención Primaria de Salud. O presente trabalho teve por objetivo explorar as mudanças que traçam os contornos do pacote anticrime e, de modo específico, a figura do juiz das garantias. Assim, tem-se como objetivo principal a análise da neutralidade e parcialidade dos magistrados que atuam na fase pré-processual e processual do processo penal e se o envolvimento com este trabalho pode acabar os influenciando. Para realizar o estudo foram utilizados os métodos de revisão bibliográfica e o hipotético-dedutivo. Como resultado da pesquisa, entendemos que o aprimoramento do processo penal é essencial para a realização da justiça em nosso país, mediante a garantia dos direitos dos investigados e o combate da parcialidade.

While exergames have been used with older adults in an attempt to promote higher physical activity (PA) levels, and its subsequent health benefits, there is a lack of research that objectively quantifies the PA levels that custom-made exergames can produce throughout an extended training program. In this paper, we describe a 3-month intervention study that aimed to measure the participants PA levels during exergames’ sessions and their effectiveness in eliciting the recommended activity levels. Over the course of the study, two groups of older adults participated in either a conventional multidimensional fitness training program of two sessions of exercise per week (n = 16) or in an equivalent combined program (n = 15), of one conventional and one exergame session per week. Both the objective PA levels (through accelerometry) and subjective effort (perceived exertion) were collected in each session. Results revealed that while participants spent more time in moderate-to-vigorous PA during exergaming than during conventional sessions, they also spent less energy, thus working out at lower intensities but for a more sustained amount of time. The self-reported exertion was consistently higher for the sessions of the combined exercise program. We showed that a set of custom-made exergames can be successfully used by trainers to set up personalized training sessions and can be used in combination with regular exercise for sustained long-term training, exposing differences between the two training regimes in terms of efficiency, elicited PA, and perceived effort.

Background Zika virus (ZIKV) infection during pregnancy may cause major congenital defects, including microcephaly, ocular, articular and muscle abnormalities, which are collectively defined as Congenital Zika Syndrome. Here, we performed an in-depth characterization of the effects of congenital ZIKV infection (CZI) in immunocompetent mice. Methods Pregnant dams were inoculated with ZIKV on embryonic day 5.5 in the presence or absence of a sub-neutralizing dose of a pan-flavivirus monoclonal antibody (4G2) to evaluate the potential role of antibody-dependent enhancement phenomenon (ADE) during short and long outcomes of CZI. Findings ZIKV infection induced maternal immune activation (MIA), which was associated with occurrence of foetal abnormalities and death. Therapeutic administration of AH-D antiviral peptide during the early stages of pregnancy prevented ZIKV replication and death of offspring. In the post-natal period, CZI was associated with a decrease in whole brain volume, ophthalmologic abnormalities, changes in testicular morphology, and disruption in bone microarchitecture. Some alterations were enhanced in the presence of 4G2 antibody. Interpretation Our results reveal that early maternal ZIKV infection causes several birth defects in immunocompetent mice, which can be potentiated by ADE phenomenon and are associated with MIA. Additionally, antiviral treatment with AH-D peptide may be beneficial during early maternal ZIKV infection. [EN] Two of the most popular mediums for virtual reality are head-mounted displays and surround-screen projection systems, such as CAVE Automatic Virtual Environments. In recent years, HMDs suffered a significant reduction in cost and have become widespread consumer products. In contrast, CAVEs are still expensive and remain accessible to a limited number of researchers. This study aims to evaluate both objective and subjective characteristics of a CAVE-like monoscopic low-cost virtual reality surround-screen projection system compared to advanced setups and HMDs. For objective results, we measured the head position estimation accuracy and precision of a low-cost active infrared (IR) based tracking system, used in the proposed low-cost CAVE, relatively to an infrared marker-based tracking system, used in a laboratory-grade CAVE system. For subjective characteristics, we investigated the sense of presence and cybersickness elicited in users during a visual search task outside personal space, beyond arms reach, where the importance of stereo vision is diminished. Thirty participants rated their sense of presence and cybersickness after performing the VR search task with our CAVE-like system and a modern HMD. The tracking showed an accuracy error of 1.66 cm and .4 mm of precision jitter. The system was reported to elicit presence but at a lower level than the HMD, while causing significant lower cybersickness. The Northwest Atlantic Shelf provides ecological and economic benefits along the heavily populated North American coastline and beyond. In 2009-2010, abrupt warming prompted an ecosystem shift with consequences for fisheries, yet the cause of this event is unclear. Here we use satellite altimetry and in situ measurements to show that, in 2008, the Gulf Stream migrated closer to the Tail of the Grand Banks, a shift that has persisted ever since. This change reduced the westward connectivity of the Labrador Current that otherwise supplies cold, fresh, oxygen-rich waters to the shelf. Within one year after the appearance of anomalously warm and saline water at the Tail of Grand Banks, subsurface warming progressed south-westwards. Historical observations suggest a similar sequence of events may have occurred in the 1970s. Therefore, monitoring water properties at the Tail of Grand Banks may offer predictability for shelf properties and ecosystem perturbations with substantial lead time. A northward shift of the Gulf Stream in 2008 interrupted the Labrador Current and may have contributed to abrupt warming and an ecosystem shift in the Northwest Atlantic Shelf a year later, suggest satellite altimetry and direct subsurface measurements.

Durante os séculos XIII a XV, um número significativo de cristãos latinos se lançou em incursões para destinos muito além dos limites da cristandade, como a Índia, a China, a Mongólia e as costas da África. Para contar a seus conterrâneos o que haviam visto naquelas terras desconhecidas, muitos desses viandantes colocam por escrito suas memórias e impressões. Entre as diversas descrições presentes nesses relatos, chama a atenção o espaço reservado aos animais que habitavam aquelas terras – alguns até então incógnitos, outros já familiares. Esta nota visa apresentar algumas opções e desafios de pesquisa ainda em andamento, cujo objetivo principal é a catalogação das espécies mencionadas pelos viajantes. Entre as informações que se propõe a recolher, o catálogo procura saber qual era a variedade das espécies descritas, como eram denominadas e classificadas, em quais lugares eram comumente encontradas, quais suas principais características e seus comportamentos e como eram normalmente utilizadas.

A discussão sobre o stress na sociedade tem vindo a aumentar por parte dos especialistas. O stress ocupacional é um conjunto de reações emocionais, cognitivas, comportamentais e fisiológicas face às adversidades no trabalho, caracterizadas por elevados níveis de excitação e perturbação, normalmente acompanhadas por sentimentos de incapacidade (Comissão Europeia, 2002). Através da aplicação do questionário de stress nos Professores (QSP) de Gomes, Montenegro, Peixoto e Peixoto (2010), procuramos compreender quais os níveis de stress nos professores do 2º e 3º ciclo do ensino básico. Desta forma, foram inquiridos 50 professores com média de idades e tempos de serviço compreendidos entre 43.9 e os 17.38 respetivamente. Realizou-se uma comparação de médias através do t-test de amostras independentes entre as variáveis, ciclo de ensino do professor e situação profissional (contratados e quadro). Os resultados não demonstraram diferenças estatisticamente significativas, porém, pode-se referir que os níveis de stress dos professores se situam entre o “moderado stress” e o “bastante stress”. Os professores sentem mais stress quando os alunos revelam comportamentos inadequados enquanto que a falta de motivação e de capacidades dos alunos se revela como fator pouco relevante para o aumento de stress dos professores., The discussion about stress in society has been increasing by experts. Occupational stress is a set of emotional, cognitive, behavioral and physiological reactions to adversity at work, characterized by high levels of excitement and disturbance, usually accompanied by feelings of incapacity (European Commission, 2002). Through the application of the Teachers' Stress Questionnaire (QSP) by Gomes, Montenegro, Peixoto and Peixoto (2010), we seek to understand the stress levels in teachers in the 2nd and 3rd cycle of basic education. In this way, 50 teachers were surveyed with an average age and length of service between 43.9 and 17.38 respectively. A comparison of means was carried out through the t-test of independent samples between the variables, the teacher's teaching cycle and professional situation (contractors and staff). The results did not show statistically significant differences, however, it can be said that the teachers' stress levels are between “moderate stress” and “quite stress”. Teachers feel more stress when students show inappropriate behaviors, while students 'lack of motivation and skills is not a relevant factor in increasing teachers' stress.

Evidence suggests that the pathophysiology associated with epileptic susceptibility may disturb the functional connectivity of neural circuits and compromise the brain functions, even when seizures are absent. Although memory impairment is a common comorbidity found in patients with epilepsy, it is still unclear whether more caudal structures may play a role in cognitive deficits, particularly in those cases where there is no evidence of hippocampal sclerosis. This work used a genetically selected rat strain for seizure susceptibility (Wistar audiogenic rat, WAR) and distinct behavioral (motor and memory-related tasks) and electrophysiological (inferior colliculus, IC) approaches to access acoustic primary integrative network properties. The IC neural assemblies’ response was evaluated by auditory transient (focusing on bottom-up processing) and steady-state evoked response (ASSR, centering on feedforward and feedback forces over neural circuitry). The results show that WAR displayed no disturbance in motor performance or hippocampus-dependent memory tasks. Nonetheless, WAR animals exhibited significative impairment for auditory fear conditioning (AFC) along with no indicative of IC plastic changes between the pre-conditioning and test phases (ASSR coherence analysis). Furthermore, WAR’s IC response to transient stimuli presented shorter latency and higher amplitude compared with Wistar; and the ASSR analysis showed similar results for WAR and Wistar animals under subthreshold dose of pentylenetetrazol (pro-convulsive drug) for seizure-induction. Our work demonstrated alterations at WAR IC neural network processing, which may explain the associated disturbance on AFC memory.

Animal behavioral paradigms, such as classical conditioning and operant conditioning, are an important tool to study the neural basis of cognition and behavior. These paradigms involve manipulating sensory stimuli in a way that learning processes are induced under controlled experimental conditions. However, the majority of the commercially available equipment did not offer flexibility to manipulate stimuli. Therefore, the development of most versatile devices would allow the study of more complex cognitive functions. The purpose of this work is to present a low-cost, customized and wireless-operated chamber for animal behavior conditioning, based on the joint operation of two microcontroller modules: Arduino Due and ESP8266-12E. Our results showed that the auditory stimulation system allows setting the carrier frequency in the range of 1 Hz up to more than 100 kHz and the sound stimulus can be modulated in amplitude, also over a wide range of frequencies. Likewise, foot-shock could be precisely manipulated regarding its amplitude (from ~200 μA to ~1500 μA) and frequency (up to 20 pulses per second). Finally, adult rats exposed to a protocol of cued fear conditioning in our device showed consistent behavioral response and electrophysiological evoked responses in the midbrain auditory pathway. Furthermore, the device developed in the current study represents an open source alternative to develop customized protocols to study fear memory under conditions of varied sensory stimuli.

The inelastic second-order behavior of steel structural columns under minor-axis bending is presented in this article. To study this behavior, a nonlinear frame element formulation is adopted in which the steel's plasticity process is accompanied at the nodal points of each finite element through the refined plastic-hinge method (RPHM). A tangent modulus approach is employed in order to consider the stiffness degradation in function of the internal forces' variation, and the second-order effects, residual stresses and geometric imperfections are considered in the modeling of column behavior. As a criterium for defining the ultimate limit state of the column cross-section, strength surfaces are adopted. These surfaces describe the interaction between the axial force and bending moment (N-M interaction diagrams). To solve the nonlinear equilibrium equation for the structural system, the Newton-Raphson method is used, coupled with continuation strategies. Columns with different slenderness, boundary and loading conditions are analyzed, and the results obtained are comparable to those found by other researchers. The results lead to the conclusion that the numerical approach adopted in this study can be used for a better behavioral understanding of the steel column under weak-axis bending.

Tendo em conta a importância das hagiografias para a promoção de um programa de princípios adotado pela ordem religiosa fundada por ele, bem como para disseminação de seus exemplos, o objetivo deste artigo é examinar escritos sobre a vida de Francisco nos quais os animais são tratados para refletir sobre as virtudes, a obediência a Deus e a fraternidade.Palavras-chave: São Francisco de Assis; animais; hagiografias.

We present a case of a 68-year-old man with chronic hepatitis C infection, with no evidence of chronic liver disease during the first years of follow-up, diagnosed with a hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with 40 mm (α-fetoprotein (AFP) 205 ng/mL). He underwent segmental liver resection and pathology analysis was consistent with HCC and cirrhosis in the adjacent liver. Four months after surgery, AFP raised up to 126 661 ng/mL and abdominal MRI revealed a multinodular HCC. Patient rejected treatment with sorafenib and started megestrol and an herbal medicine, soursop (Annona muricata). Six months later, AFP markedly decreased (28 ng/mL) and abdominal MRI showed decreasing size and number of lesions. At 5 years of follow-up, he has no evidence of HCC. Spontaneous regression of HCC is a rare condition and the underlying mechanism is unclear. In this case there is a temporal relation between the start of megestrol and Annona muricata and HCC regression.

The unpredictability of spontaneous and recurrent seizures significantly impairs the quality of life of patients with epilepsy. Probing neural network excitability with deep brain electrical stimulation (DBS) has shown promising results predicting pathological shifts in brain states. This work presents a proof-of-principal that active electroencephalographic (EEG) probing, as a seizure predictive tool, is enhanced by pairing DBS and the electrographic seizure itself. The ictogenic model used consisted of inducing seizures by continuous intravenous infusion of pentylenetetrazol (PTZ — 2.5 mg/ml/min) while a probing DBS was delivered to the thalamus (TH) or amygdaloid complex to detect changes prior to seizure onset. Cortical electrophysiological recordings were performed before, during, and after PTZ infusion. Thalamic DBS probing, but not amygdaloid, was able to predict seizure onset without any observable proconvulsant effects. However, previously pairing amygdaloid DBS and epileptic polyspike discharges (day-1) elicited distinct preictal cortically recorded evoked response (CRER) (day-2) when compared with control groups that received the same amount of electrical pulses at different moments of the ictogenic progress at day-1. In conclusion, our results have demonstrated that the pairing strategy potentiated the detection of an altered brain state prior to the seizure onset. The EEG probing enhancement method opens many possibilities for both diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy.

Esta dissertação é um estudo sobre a evolução tipológica dos cinemas contruídos em Angola entre 1932 e 1975. Após um breve enquadramento do modelo legado dos cineteatros Portugueses, procede-se a análise do carácter e das transformações da arquitetura dos cine-mas angolanos, atendendo às suas datas de construção e localização no território angolano. Sendo que a autoria da sua arquitetura e data de construção são ainda incertas em grande parte dos cinemas, é através de um olhar mais atento à morfologia dos casos de estudo no seu conjunto que se torna possível separá-los por grupos tipológicos e traçar uma leitura evolutiva. A parte final deste trabalho debruça-se sobre sobre um cinema específico, da autoria do Arq. José Parro Botelho Pereira, o Cine-Estúdio Namibe, sendo apresentados os desenhos do arquiteto como base para o estudo e análise do edifício. Tendo como base o levantamento fotográfico "Angola Cinemas", da autoria de Miguel Hurst e Walter Fernandes, este trabalho parte também de uma viagem de registo desses equipamentos, transposta para um filme de 3:40 min que serve como uma síntese visual da evolução cronológica dos cinemas. Além de tentar difundir um património em abandono, este trabalho pretende estabelecer uma aproximação a uma breve História dos Cinemas Angolanos, demonstrando como os princípios de programa e carácter dos edifícios foram legados através dos tempos. This dissertation is a study on the typological evolution of movie theaters built in Angola between 1932 and 1975. After a brief framing of the Portuguese cineteatros legacy, the character and transformations of the architecture of the cinemas are analyzed, taking into account their dates construction and location in the angolan territory. Since the authorship of their architecture and construction date are still uncertain in most cinemas, it is through a closer look at the morphology of the case studies as a whole that it becomes possible to separate them by typological groups and draw a reading evolutionary. The final part of this work focuses on a specific cinema, drawn by the architect José Parro Botelho Pereira, the Cine-Studio Namibe, and presenting the drawings of the architect as a basis for the study and analysis of the building. Based on the photographic survey enti-tled "Angola Cinemas", by Miguel Hurst and Walter Fernandes, this work as also started with a journey to record these buildings on video. The shots were transposed to a 3:40 min film that serves as a visual synthesis of the chronological evolution of Angolan movie theaters. In addition to trying to disseminate a heritage in abandonment, this work intends to establish an approximation to a brief History of Angolan Cinemas, demonstrating how the principles of program and character of buildings have been bequeathed through the ages.

Este artigo terá como finalidade discutir a condição social feminina a partir da personagem Macabéa, do romance A hora da estrela, de Clarice Lispector. Trataremos especificamente da personagem com um ser vivendo em situação de periferia e fora do seu lugar, um ser deslocado, invisível, em constante processo de emudecimento e em situação extrema ou situação-limite. Traçaremos um paralelo entre Macabéa e o muçulmano – tal como este é descrito por Giogio Agamben – como o indivíduo incapaz, nos campos de concentração nazista, de discernir entre o bem e o mal, entre nobreza e vileza, não passando dos limites de um feixe de funções físicas em agonia: uma vida nua, uma vida não politizada, submetida ao poder soberano, sofrendo o peso de um controle biopolítico sobre seu corpo. Nessa direção, problematizaremos também questões relacionadas ao vivendo em estado de subalternidade, segundo Gaytri Spivak, cuja situação e condição social exclui do merdado, da representação política e legal indivíduos das camadas mais baixas, mas também questões outras relativas à alteridade de acordo com o pensamento de Homi Bhabha e ainda, por se tratar de uma obra cuja fortuna crítica fixa na questão vida e obra, discutiremos a noção de autoficção, dando destaque aos problemas de construção do romance como experiência de vida Universidade Federal da Integração Latino Americana (UNILA-PR) e Universidade Estadual do Oeste do Paraná (UNIOESTE-PR)

The purpose of this study is to provide a detailed description of the current state of the surfing tourism industry in Peniche, Portugal, and to perform a sustainability-oriented analysis of its development. Also, this thesis represents an attempt to contribute to the overall field of surfing tourism, specifically to a better understanding of the implications of this form of tourism’s development in developed country settings. A thorough review of the literature on surfing tourism was performed, which suggested that a proper contribution to the understanding of the issues surrounding the sustainability of surfing tourism destinations should be based on the perceptions of local stakeholders. As such, a Social Constructivist approach to qualitative research was employed during the analysis of twenty-four semi-structured interviews with local surfers and business owners of the county of Peniche. The analysis of the stakeholders’ main perceptions and concerns regarding surfing tourism suggested that there currently are a few threats to the sustainability of the industry in Peniche. Respondents have identified an “uncontrolled” growth of the local surfing tourism industry, which has been increasingly responsible for changes on both the commercial and recreational contexts, which in turn have caused a few economic, sociocultural and environmental impacts on the destination. The identified growth has been propelled by promotional efforts made by public and private entities, but the results suggest that there has not been an adequate investment in regulatory, infrastructural and logistical support for the growth of the industry that has resulted. Stemming from this realization, a set of recommendations for the implementation of innovative sustainability practices is presented, based on the main challenges to the industry’s future development pointed out by respondents. It is argued that such practices can turn Peniche into a benchmark for the sustainability of surfing tourism in destinations of developed nations, through the overcoming of future environmental, sociocultural, and economic challenges.

The rat inferior colliculus (IC) is a major midbrain relay for ascending inputs from the auditory brain stem and has been suggested to play a key role in the processing of aversive sounds. Previous studies have demonstrated that auditory fear conditioning (AFC) potentiates transient responses to brief tones in the IC, but it remains unexplored whether AFC modifies responses to sustained periodic acoustic stimulation-a type of response called the steady-state evoked potential (SSEP). Here we used an amplitude-modulated tone-a 10-kHz tone with a sinusoidal amplitude modulation of 53.7 Hz-as the conditioning stimulus (CS) in an AFC protocol (5 CSs per day in 3 consecutive days) while recording local field potentials (LFPs) from the IC. The work project in question, “Segmenting Science4you’s customers for reshaping sales strategies” aims at segmenting Science4you’s customer base in order to increase profitability per customer. The project was based in both secondary data provided by the company and primary data collected afterwards through focus groups and questionnaires. After the results’ analysis, the first criteria to segment was the amount of money spent on Science4you’s products during a year. Recommendations were then made for each segment in order for the company to take the most profitability out of each group.

Aims: Identify which nursing interventions should be implemented in the stress control of the family of the sick person in a critical condition. Methods: Integrative literature review to explore the evidence of the last five years, using the EBSCOhost electronic search platform. Of the 67 articles found, 15 were considered potentially relevant, thus joining our sample. Results: The nursing interventions found in the literature were split into five areas of “action”. These include the need of nurses to assess the Family/ Caregivers Stress and family coping, implementing nursing interventions centered on each family, establishing an empathetic relationship and trust that facilitates and promotes family involvement in the care process as well as in the decision-making processes. They should also facilitate the communication with the family promoting active listening, informing them about the care of their relative, stating their support in this process, comforting them and fostering the development of coping mechanisms. Conclusions: The nurses should include the family of the person in critical condition in their care plan as stress and suffering control strategy. An approach based on this scientific evidence should be tested and validated in future studies.
