KATO Takusen is MASAOKA Shiki's real uncle, and was one of the most talented pupils of NAKAE Chomin, who was one of the greatest Enlightenment leaders of the Bunmei Kaika, which coincided with young Takusen's training years.MORI Ogai had a close friendship with Takusen, along with one-of-a-kind best friend, KAKO Tsurudo (additionally, his wife was also the aunt of Ms. Kato). There is no doubt that the way of confronting death by Ogai has had a decisive influence on Takusen (two died one after in about nine months).Takusen chose to adorn his own tombstone with the words “Mr. Takusen Bone.” He wanted to leave the best work that he can, and as much work as possible during his lifetime.

Ｉ. 論文, 本研究は、日本語教育学専攻ではない一般の大学生に対して行った日本語教育関連の授業が、当該学生に与えた影響について論じたものである。大学生から得たデータを分析した結果、他者視点の涵養、他文化の人々に対する寛容性や寄り添いの姿勢、非母語話者との交流への意欲など、多文化共生社会において多様な人々との関係を築く上での要を学ぶ機会となったことがわかった。また、言語調整という概念を得てその実践をすることにより、非母語話者とのコミュニケーションが促進される様子も見られた。一方、大学生として規範的な日本語を追究する姿勢や母語話者信仰とも言える志向なども観察された。大学生が自分自身に課している目標や価値観を保持する中で、多様な背景をもつ人々について一面的に評価したり自分の常識で判断したりする可能性について熟考するきっかけを与えることも、授業時の留意点として浮かび上がった。

70年代中葉の韓国では、6・3・3・4制の「基幹学制」の学校の教科課程と教育内容は独裁政権の強力な管理下にあったが、「傍系学制」の高等技術学校であるプルム農業高等技術学校では、『教養国語』という表題で全三冊の、国語教科を中心にした宗教、哲学、歴史、社会などを内容とした自主編成教材が作成され実践されていた。同教材は解放後の韓国の教育史において画期的な意義を有する自主編成教材であった。プルム学校の教育内容と教育実践については、洪淳明や関係者が言及することはあっても、客観的な分析はほとんどなされてこなかった。本研究ノートは、これまでほとんど分析されることのなかった同教材を総合的に分析・検討するためのてがかりとして、「『教養国語』全三巻内容総覧」と「『教養国語』の形式的・内容的区分」の二つの表をまとめたものである。前者では、収録テキストとオリジナルな出典との比較検討の結果と、オリジナルな出典との漢字表記の相違についての分析の結果が示されている。

本稿では、文化服装学院での事例を中心に、洋裁の技術に付随して語られた「教養」の言説が、洋裁学校を中心とした人々のコミュニケーションのような、1950年代特有の服飾文化のあり方といかなる関係を取り結んできたのかを分析した。そして、それら「服飾文化と教養」の言説が、洋裁学校での学校教育のカリキュラム、機関誌である『装苑』、学院や雑誌での学生／読者の共同体といった相互に関連し合う場同士の連関に対して果たした役割の一端を検討した。

19世紀半ばから末にかけて、イギリスでは自由教育のあり方をめぐる論争が繰り広げられた。この論争は、当時を代表する知識人の間で重層的に展開され、自由教育論争と総称される。本稿では、19世紀イギリスの自由教育論の論点が、知性と道徳性の関係にあったことを確認したうえで、「自由教育の理想的な教育内容は何か」、「自由教育は誰のための教育なのか」という2つの問いから、代表的な論者とされるJ. H. ニューマン、J. S. ミル、H. シジウィック、T.H. ハクスリー、M. アーノルドの自由教育論・教養論を検討し、自由教育論争の再整理を試みた。本稿での検討を通じて、ニューマン、ミル、シジウィックが、エリート教育としての新たな自由教育のあり方を模索したのに対して、ハクスリーとアーノルドが、エリート教育ではない自由教育のあり方を模索したこと、さらに、それぞれの主張のなかで各論者が知性と道徳性を異なる関係でとらえていたことを明らかにした。, A number of controversies arose over the contents of liberal education and the concepts of culture in England from the middle to the end of the 19th century. Intellectuals participated actively in these controversies. First, this essay considers the changes in liberal education in England in the 19th century and confirms that a relationship between intellect and morality in statements about liberal education is the main point at issue. In addition, this paper examines ideas of J. H. Newman, J. S. Mill, H. Sidgwick, T. H. Huxley, and M. Arnold about liberal education based on two questions: "What are the ideal contents of liberal education?" "Who is liberal education for?" Newman, Mill and Sidgwick sought ways toward new liberal education as education for the children of the elite, while Huxley and Arnold sought liberal education for all children and they had various interpretations of the relationship between intellect and morality.

新学習指導要領では「主体的・対話的で深い学び」が謳われ、今後はその学びを体験した学生が大学に入学してくる。大学の初年次教育もそれをふまえた対応が必要となることが予想される。本稿では、「教養」という語に着目し、それをかつての学生たちの中にあった知と自らの生とを結びつける動機と力であり、大学内に雰囲気として存在していた知と生とを結びつける無言の圧力としての機能と理解する。その上で、「主体的・対話的で深い学び」を読み解くことで、対話＝協同の重要性を指摘し、アクティブ・ラーニングの導入において、学生同士の関係性構築が最重要の課題であることを示す。その課題に対応するため関西大学人間健康学部で行われている初年次教育の取り組みの事例を取り上げ、体験学習プログラムにより学生同士の協同性を高めることがリーディングやライティング等スタディスキル向上においても効果をもたらしていることを示す。

大学における音楽あるいは音楽関連の科目は,なにも音楽大学や教育系の大学だけの科目ではなく,一般教養科目として音楽/音楽関連の科目が置かれている大学は多い.では,音楽家や音楽の教員を目指す学生はいざ知らず,そうでない学生が音楽を「学ぶ」ことの意義はいったい何なのであろうか.そこで学ぶ内容は,自らの音楽活動や保育・教育の場における音楽活動をリードするための楽器演奏や歌唱のスキル,あるいは実践的な音楽理論や音楽活動の指導法とはまた別のものであり,その目的もまた違ったものとなる筈である.このような一般教養としての音楽/音楽関連科目の存在意義,そこで学習する内容と期待される成果について,実際に授業を担当する者として考えてみたい.

読書が好きな学生が、専門分野としてではなく、教養科目として文学を学ぶ際に、何が重要であるのかという問題意識から、本稿においては三浦しをんの『骨片』を学生に読ませ、解釈に必要でありながらも欠如している時代背景や風俗風習の知識を補う前後で、感想文の内容を考察した。その結果、解釈に大きな変容がみられた。このことから教養科目として文学を読むための授業展開として、学生に不足している時代背景の理解や風俗風習に関する知識を補う多角的な補足を行い、教養を深めることを繰り返すことが重要であることがわかる。それにより、生涯にわたり読書する際においても解釈を深めることを促すことができると考えられ、教養科目として文学を学ぶことの意義は大きいといえる。

本研究は，古代ギリシャ時代から始まり，修辞学的伝統と哲学的伝統という二つの型を有するリベラルアーツの歴史とその理念を紹介し，キリスト教におけるリベラルアーツの受容の一例，つまりリベラルアーツの一つである修辞学を聖書解釈の道具として用いた古代キリスト教教父アウグスティヌスにおけるリベラルアーツのキリスト教的受容について考察する。そしてこれらの議論に基づいてリベラルアーツ理念と向き合う際，一般教養科目の枠の中に位置づけられているキリスト教必修科目に求められる「アルス」（術）は何なのかについて論じることを目的とする。

本論は，現在日本の教育に広がりつつある，英語教育と英語での教育の現状と言説について考察する．近年の日本の教育システムの一部で「グローバル人材」を「英語が流暢な人」と定義する傾向がある．しかし，日本人学生の大半の英語力は未だに，ようやくコミュニケーションが取れるレベルの中級あるいは初級のレベルであり，このままただ英語だけを大学で学んでいるだけでは，ビジネスの世界で役に立たないばかりでなく，現代民主主義社会を構成する市民として十分な基礎知識を持った人間になることもない．本論は，今一度大学における人文・社会科学教育を中心とした教養教育の原点に立ち返り，教養がそもそも自分の精神と知識で考え行動する人間を育てることであることに注目する．昨今の安易な「全て英語で」教育すれば良いという風潮は，コンテンツに基づいた教育と言っておきながら，その肝心の内実が教養や専門教育のための語学でなく，その逆に英語のためのコンテンツが専門の人間が教えない似非人文社会科学だとするなら，最終的に「英語だけ」に終わってしまう危険性がある．

本稿の目的は、教養論の歴史的考察をふまえ、政治教育のあり方を考察する。近代日本における「教養」主義の伝統を辿り、その批判を通じて教養のあり方を模索する。次ぎに「教養」主義から、真の教養への過程を辿る具体例として戦没学徒兵の手記を位置付け、最後に今日における日本の政治教育のあり方を探る。

In the late 1960 s, Hiroshi Kawaguchi, the former movie actor and TVpersonality, felt challenged by the documentary film “A Dog’s Life” (originaltitle: Mondo Cane) produced by Italian film director Gualtiero Jacopetti.While pursuing the ‘authenticity’ of documentary, Kawaguchi alsoperformed as an actor and was involved in the production of a televisionprogram. The program of Hiroshi Kawaguchi was different from JunichiUshiyama’s television documentary ”Wonderful World Travel”, as theformer tried to represent the ‘authenticity’ of documentary whileemphasizing the impact of the image, whereas the latter pursued‘education’ and academics through his program. This is, in a sense, a resultof focusing on creating a program from the perspective of the ‘masses’instead of from the perspective of ‘modern citizens’. Their directions weredifferent, yet their educational background, parents’ occupations andcultural capital were related to each other. In the mid-1980 s, however,“Kawaguchi Hiroshi Adventurer Series” directed by the former actor whoplaced great emphasis on ‘authenticity’ became viewed as a parody ofadventure and exploration by the audience amid a rumor that the programwas ‘staged’. In other words, although Hiroshi Kawaguchi’s documentaryprogram began as a pursuit of ‘authenticity’, it was ironically criticized interms of its ‘authenticity’ and ridiculed. This was due to changes in theattitudes of TV viewers, especially of the audience of documentary shows.In the meanwhile, Junichi Ushiyama also entered the academic world, suchas the “Visual anthropology”, and as a result, his television documentarybecame accepted as an ‘educational program’.

マシュー・アーノルドの『Culture and Anarchy』がどのように日本に移入され，蘇峰がこれをどのように受容したかという課題を扱う。今回の論考では「日本に初めてマシュー・アーノルドを紹介した」とされる大西祝の存在意義，特にアーノルドの「culture」を「文華（文化）」と訳出したことの意味と，これに関わるものとして『Culture and Anarchy』が提示した「culture」概念の問題性について論じている。, This paper examines how Matthew Arnold’s Culture and Anarchy was introduced to Japan and how the resurrection of Japanese high literary culture at this time affected the reception of Culture and Anarchy in Japan. I focus on the meaning of “culture” in Japan in relation to the significance of Hajime Onishi, said “to have introduced Matthew Arnold to Japan for the first time.” Particular attention is paid to the problematic translation of Arnold’s concept of “culture,” denoting “brilliant civilization ／ high culture,” into Japanese, using the word 文華 (“brilliant ／ high culture”) rather than the generic 文化 (“culture”).

The purpose of this paper is to examine the moral theory in“BUSHIDO”and“Shuyo”theory by Inazao Nitobe and to find the educational implication. Nitobe tried to explain Japanese traditional moral theory to foreign country by“BUSHIDO”. However,“BUSHIDO”is the ideal personality theory by Inazo Nitobe and is not accurate explanation for Japanese traditional moral theory. In this book Nitobe wrote the idea that is“decision of character”by integration to know and to do. In“Shuyo”theory, this idea explain as integration“to be”and“to do”. “Shuyo”theory by Inazo Nitobe was written for formation of personality among people in every social class. It includes various things about usually mind. It is a typical self-help theory. The theory had great impact on his students as well as culturalism which is born later as school culture. According to his students, his thought had an impact on the ideas of postwar. His theory, however, is not considered by Postwar-Pedagogy in Japan (Sengo-Kyouikugaku) because culturalism was considered to be the typical reflection of class consciousness. In the end, we found that Nitobe's theory has the implication to present day in contrary to Postwar-Pedagogy in Japan through examination. It's not a mere class consciousness or the way for national integration. Moral theory by Nitobe has potential to liberate human and society by personality and moral. And we can find common directional in Nitobe and Postwar-Pedagogy. Through this understanding, we can understand Postwar Japan in other perspective and obtain a way to consider moral by connecting before and after Postwar.

本稿は、芸術工学を専攻している学生に合わせた教養教育としての人文地理学の講義を目指した実践と今後の課題について報告することを目的とする。高校での地理の履修状況について把握したところ、全体的には履修している学生は少ない状況にある。このため、学生が人文地理学を体系的に理解することができるよう、テキストを使用することが必要であると考える。学生は自らが将来創作するであろう作品と人文地理学との間の関係性は希薄であると考えている場合が多い。一方、学生は自らが将来創作するであろう作品と風土との間の関係性はあるものと考える者の数が増える。人文地理学と風土は同義ではない。しかし、人文地理学は風土を理解する学問の1つである。学生が人文地理学により強く関心を持つことができるよう、自らが将来創作するであろう作品と風土との関係にも触れて講義を展開する工夫が必要と考えられた。, This paper aims to report the practice aiming at the lecture of human geography as a liberal arts education tailored to students majored in art engineering and the future subjects. When I grasped the situation of the enrollment of geography in high school, overall there are few students taking course. For this reason, I think that it is necessary to use texts so that students can systematically understand human geography. Students often think that the relationship between works that they will create in the future and human geography is sparse. On the other hand, students increase the number of people who think that there is a relationship between future works and climates. Human geography and climate are not synonymous. However, human geography is one of the science to understand climate. It was thought that ingenuity that touches the relation with climate is necessary so that students can be strongly interested in human geography

application/pdf, 本稿では、大学の国際化を背景として、大学における教育活動を通して学生へ何を伝えるべきなのか、なかでも、大学生活のスタート時期である初年次に受講する講座が果たす役割について考える。事例として、地方国立大学の教養科目として平成18年度から開講されている「国際協力論」を取り上げ、この講座は国際化時代に必要とされる知識や能力を育成することができているのかを考察する。, 考察の結果次のことが明らかとなった。本講座は、地球的規模で物事を考える基礎を培い、世界のさまざまな国や地域の歴史や伝統、文化に対する理解を深めさせることができており、また、実社会が直面する課題を知り、学生自らの知識や人生を社会との関係で位置づけてみる機会を提供できている。一方、実社会が直面する課題を自ら発見したり探求したりする機会の提供は十分ではなく、特定の課題を深く掘り下げて考えさせるさらなる工夫が必要である。

一九六〇年代後半の月刊誌『学校図書館』誌上における翻訳児童文学叢書をめぐる特集記事や時評を検証する中で、戦後の早い時期から児童文学の主要な媒介の場となった学校図書館の関係者たちが主要読者である本誌で、どのように「翻訳」の問題が議論されていたか、その問題点を明らかにしていった。そこからは、強く「完訳主義」を主張し、絶対的な児童文学評価の基準を信奉する児童文学者がいる一方で、むしろ柔軟な「翻訳」に対する姿勢を見せる海外児童文学の専門家の存在も明確になった。また、そもそもの議論の発端が学校教師という媒介者による必読図書選定にあったこと、文学全集隆盛の刊行状況があったこと、当時の刊行企画における海外受賞作乃至本邦初訳が必ずしも専門家からは評価されなかったことなども確認した。媒介者側の資料におけるこのような論議の経過自体、この時期における「教養」的な「叢書」意識の残存とみなせるだろう。

This essay reexamines the well-known 1975 debatebetween Hiraizumi Wataru, who the previous\nyear had presented a plan for radical reform of English education in Japan, and Watanabe Shōichi,\nwho repudiated Watanabe’s scheme as fundamentally flawed and defended the conventional\n‘grammarandtranslation’-based approach. Putting their arguments in the historical perspective of the\nEnglish language and Japanese reveals that they take up all the major controversial issues argued\nsince the introduction of English education in Japan, including the translation method vs. the direct\nmethod, communication-orientedEnglish vs. ‘liberalarts education’-oriented English, and whether\nEnglish should be a compulsory subject of education or is unnecessary. Seen from today’s viewpoint,\ntheir discussion is still worth reading because Hiraizumi and Watanabe share, despite the apparent\nconflict, many common ideas that should be carried on as a valuable legacy, admitting thatmany\npoints in their contentions may be critiqued as outdated.

This essay is an attempt to search for ways to improve college English education in Japan. It first analyzes\nseveral popular fallacies concerning English education, by applying the common understandings extracted from\nthe Hiraizumi-Watanabe debate of 1975. Second, it takes up the long-running argument specifically between the\npractical, communication-oriented school and the ‘liberal arts education’-oriented school to explore the\npossibilities for resolving the bitter divide that has haunted the history of English education in Japan. Lastly, the\nmerits of the traditional translation method in English education are reevaluated and reaffirmed as a good way of\npinpointing students’ weak points, having them get inside English texts, and expanding their mental and\nintellectual faculties. All these perspectives are discussed in view of the information society.

小論は大正初期の第一高等学校における「読書による自己形成」、すなわち教養の成立を、修養、煩悶青年および個人主義の受容との関係を見直した上で再考してみた。具体的には教養主義者と呼ばれる谷川徹三（一八九五～一九八九年）の修養に勉めた中学校時代、自殺危機と煩悶を抱く旧制第一高等学校入学前後、転機となった一高在学中という三つの内面的成長の断片を中心に、谷川の一高の先輩である藤村操、阿部次郎、安倍能成、折蘆魚住影雄、藤原正などによる言説を補助線にして考察した。, 小論は、まず谷川徹三が中学三年生（一九一〇年）の夏休みに書いた作文集『五十の日子』という一次資料を利用し、彼にとっての修養のメカニズムを検討した。そして、第一高等学校入学（一九一三年）前後に、性の悩みをきっかけに煩悶青年になった経緯を見ることを通して、第一高等学校という場が青年に苦悩の自由および煩悶まで発酵するゆとりを与えたことを解明した。さらに、個人主義の受容という点において、大正初期の谷川の煩悶と、明治末期の藤村操の遺書、個人主義をめぐる阿部次郎、安倍能成、折蘆魚住影雄、藤原正などの発言、および操の自死に対する彼らの思考を考察することによって、一九一〇年前後の一高の煩悶青年に通底した内面的な悩みが個人主義、個の覚醒の結果であることを明らかにした。藤村操は宗教的救いを拒否して自死し、煩悶の段階に留まった。谷川、阿部、安倍のような青年と、折蘆、藤原正のような青年は、それぞれ幅広い読書と宗教思想運動によって煩悶解説・個人形成を遂げた。これらの青年は個人主義の受容という一つの〈系譜〉の中に捉えることができる。修養と当時形成されつつあった教養は異なる煩悶脱出・主体形成の方法である。

企業は,いまの競争に勝つことはもちろん重要であるが,将来の競争に勝つことも求められる。この将来の競争に関して人材育成を強化する(あるいは,強化しようとしている)経営トップは多い。本稿は,以上の経営トップの思いに通ずる人材育成について,ダイナミック・ケイパビリティと学習を手掛かりにして検討する。本稿の主張は,人材育成では,実践的な専門知識・スキルの習得に偏るのではなく,教養といった内容をより重視すべきなのではないか,というものである。

Today, people, as well as the society, are exposed to many problems threatening the continuation of the society and live in distrust and uneasiness without having the future prospects. On this account, they lose a feeling of solidarity and a sense of unity. The society without them cannot solve any problem. To do so, certain common sense of values, which bring people together and breed a feeling of solidarity and a sense of unity, are essential in the society where each individual's sense of value is different. In such society, the culture can be the common sense of values. This paper firstly points out that each person has different sense of value, loses opportunities of communication, and stands alone in the society. Hence, people and the society lose a feeling of solidarity and a sense of unity. Next, we survey characteristics of the culture and explain that the culture can become the common sense of values for people and the society. Thirdly, we discuss what is expected for the culture today, and lastly describe ways to obtain knowledge, the basis of the culture, in order to enhance the culture.

大学教育は“主体的に変化に対応し,自ら将来の課題を探求し,その課題に対して幅広い視野から柔軟かつ総合的な判断を下すことのできる能力"の育成を要請されている。本研究は,この課題に向けた授業構想の事例的研究である。その性質上近代科学には描ききれない〈現実〉の側面がある。多義的・相互的な〈現実〉のなかで自己と多様な他者の出逢いに焦点をあて,〈現実〉から学ぶ意味を再発見するために「経験を考える」というテーマの授業構想を実践し,この視点から教養教育を考察した。

一九六〇年から刊行が開始された「岩波少年少女文学全集」について、先行する叢書類との関係を考慮しながら、書目の選定や月報の内容を手がかりとして特徴を確認し、また歴史的な位置づけを試みた。一九五〇年刊行開始の「岩波少年文庫」収録作を母体とし、世界を「地域割り」にした創元社版や講談社版の翻訳叢書のそれぞれと一定の関係を持つことを前提とした上で、書目の選定の際には第二次大戦後の原著が数多く選ばれていること、日常的な物語では戦中戦後の状況をテーマとするものやソ連・中国の作品紹介が眼を引くこと、ノンフィクション系統の作品の占める割合が高く、中でも古代史関連の作品や、社会と関わる活動をした人物の伝記に重点が置かれていることなどを明らかにした。また、「読書指導」欄からは、内容的にはまさしく「教養」形成追求を図っているにもかかわらず形骸化した「教養」イメージが当時存したこともうかがうことができた。

P(論文), This paper searched for the contents of training education for nursery teachers from the concepts of life and culture by considering a famous Japanese philosopher, Prof. Kiyoshi Miki's works on the better life. It told us that the key idea for making quality of life was to enjoy the life with culture, play and nature.it also said that we needed to have the abilities of liberal arts to realize such life. From Miki's thought on the quality of life, the author pointed out the importance of the liberal arts education in the training for nursery teachers by using the picture books which showed plenty of important messages for the life with humanity. And also from the viewpoints of 21st life and culture, it might be needs to have a sense of wonder for nature in the children's minds, so to select good picture books showing abundant examples of the charms of nature which is important for nursery teachers training programs. The conclusion was that we needed to think about the importance to select the best works of picture books and to use them for the liberal education for the nursery teachers to create their quality of life as well as to qualify the nursery school programs.

一九五〇年代から六〇年代にかけて刊行された二つの少年少女向け世界文学全集について、地域割り主体の巻構成となっているなど、先発の創元社版の企画を後発の講談社版が受け継いでいることを前提とし、後者には前者にない「読書指導」のページが付されている点に着目し、その内容を追究した。その結果、前者においては、出版社-家庭-学校の三者が「子ども」読者を囲い「読書」への期待を向けており、発信者側が「教養」の「形成」を強く念頭においていたのに対し、後者では学校における教師の「指導」が文学作品享受に付随していること、該当ページからは「特権的子ども読者の存在」が一般読者に印象付けられること、「現前テクスト透過の作品把握」の可能性が大となることなどが抽出されてきた。これらのことから、「文学」の果たす「教養」形成の役割が、自発的な内的成熟への期待から指導者が導く外部表出推奨へと変化したことが明確となった。

P(論文), In our modern society, it may become more important to give a good outdoor education for children, such as playing and studying in nature. In fact there are many kinds of outdoor education programs, it will be time to be needed to think about how to qualify them. To search for this issue, the author pays attention to the value of Japanese traditional annual events, which have been created from the mind of intimating and respecting nature. As a result, the author finds out their important role for maturing children's healthy minds and bodies, because they may have a power of 'classics in life' in the same meanings as 'classics in literature'. From this perspective, the present author concludes that we need to use the fundamental form of traditional annual events in the outdoor programs. In order to do that, it is pointed out that the planners of outdoor education will need to study seriously about the meanings as well as forms about the traditional annual events. In addition, the knowledge of Japanese classical literatures and arts would be helpful to deepen the meanings of them, because they may have close relations with Japanese traditional feelings indispensable to nature.

This paper examines the concept of "culture" by reconsidering the relation between "culture" and "reading". Aperson who has read many and various books, especially Great Books, has often been regarded as a person of culture, meaning that he or she is considered to be a person with universal mind. Nowadays, most Japanese researchers investigating culture do not emphasize the significance of reading. The changing media relate to this shift in emphasis in discussions about this being a cultural problem. In other words, with increasing use of electronic media in society, changes in the very nature of what constitutes a "book", which is a visual medium, shake the concept of culture, which has before meant the acquisition of universal mind. In reconsidering the concept of culture, this paper focuses on John Dewey's educational theory. He said that culture is "the growth of the imagination" (Dewey, 1899). He made much of reading in his concept of culture, and believed that the point of reading was, not for acquiring universal mind, but for interpreting and expanding each experience. Reading is one such experiences and serves "the growth of the imagination." This paper concludes that culture is a process for reinterpreting and expanding experience by means of a variety of experiences, including reading.

まず、PISA 2003の結果に関する文科省(2005)の分析、並びに学校教育における統計資料の活用と指導の現状などに関する依田(2003)の展望に基づいて、「解釈し評価する技能」の形成の重要性、及び非連続型テキスト活用技能の指導充実の必要性を指摘した。次に、Sample Tasks from the PISA 2000(OECD,2002)に含まれる3種類の非連続型テキスト(グラフ、図式、表)とそれらに基づく課題の紹介及び分析を行い、その結果を踏まえて適切な処理に必要な概念・技能・知識(具体的には、関数、補助線、集合、代表的情報表示技法とその特長、洞察の準拠枠など)とそれらの形成・向上に有効な指導内容(具体的には、関係の顕在化の例示と改善の試行、ベン図・グラフなどの例示と作成実習、意識の高い生徒の発表なども活用した「実践的教養」の日常的な涵養など)の指摘を試みた。そして、多難な将来が予見される現在におけるPISA型「読解力」(≒適応力)形成の支援の可能性と重要性について述べて本論文の結びとした。

学生の授業中の私語、着帽、睡眠、携帯電話の操作、飲食、化粧、教科書・ノート・筆記具の不携帯のほか、トイレや電話のための途中退室などが問題となっている。そういった態度に接し、教師はどのように対すればよいのであろうか。教育現場で、このことに悩む教師の姿がある。社会で礼儀・作法は不可欠であり、教育現場で、無作法な態度や傍若無人な振舞いが看過されてよいわけはないのである。大学は躾教育まで担っていない、との考えは排除したいものとなる。知識の教養と行動の教養を身につけた学生を育成するのは、社会のニーズでもある。教師は、教育現場にふさわしい辞儀と魅力行動を実践したい。授業中、飲食、私語、着帽などの学生がいても、注意もせず放置する教師を、心ある学生は評価していない。学生が、知的教養以外にマナーなど行動の教養を身につけることは、彼らの将来にとって重要というだけでなく、わが国の将来と直結する課題となる。魅力行動学という研究分野を、あえて唱える所以である。

大学の英語教育は変革期にあり，各地で様々な試行錯誤が始まっている。本学でも「英語」と「英語コミュニケーション」の授業を共通科目としてどのように位置付けるかが課題になっている。まず，英語教育の目的を，教養のためとする論点と，実用のためとする論点を，一般論として整理する。次に本学の英語教育の実情と問題点などを分析する。最後に，「英語」の授業のあり方と方向性について，学生のニーズに配慮した視点から提言を行う。
