The role of environment in promoting happiness has been well known, but the impact of the government's ecological environment policy on residents' happiness remains to be explored. This paper uses the first batch of pilot policies for the construction of eco-civilized cities in China (Jiangxi, Fujian, and Guizhou) as a quasi-natural experiment to empirically study the impact of ecological civilization construction in China on residents' subjective well-being. Using the data from the China Household Finance Survey and difference in difference method, we find that Chinese ecological civilization construction has significantly improved the happiness of local residents. Mechanism analysis shows that the "happiness effect" mechanism of Chinese ecological civilization construction by improving household income, health level, and the living environment of residents. In addition, the "happiness effect" of Chinese ecological civilization construction shows group heterogeneity, and ecological civilization construction plays a larger role in promoting the well-being of residents of low-asset families, urban families, and families that own their own houses. Finally, the "happiness effect" of Chinese ecological civilization construction shows regional heterogeneity, and the construction of ecological civilization has a more striking effect on improving the well-being of residents in Jiangxi province and Guizhou province. According to the authors' knowledge, the present study is the first to study the impact of China's macroeconomic environmental policies on residents' happiness, and the present study contributes to the research on residents' happiness. The study of human torso medical image segmentation is significant for computer-aided diagnosis of human examination, disease tracking, and disease prevention and treatment. In this paper, two application tasks are designed for torso medical images: the abdominal multi-organ segmentation task and the spine segmentation task. For this reason, this paper proposes a net-work model CI-UNet improve the accuracy of edge segmentation. CI-UNet is a U-shaped network structure consisting of encoding and decoding networks. Firstly, it replaces UNet's double convolutional backbone network with a VGG16 network loaded with Transfer Learning. It feeds image information from two adjacent layers in the VGG16 network into the decoding grid via information aggregation blocks. Secondly, Polarized Self-Attention is added at the decoding network and the hopping connection, which allows the network to focus on the compelling features of the image. Finally, the image information is decoded by convolution and Up-sampling several times to obtain the segmentation results. CI-UNet was tested in the abdominal multi-organ segmentation task using the Chaos (Combined CT-MR Healthy Abdominal Organ Segmentation) open challenge dataset and compared with UNet, Attention UNet, PSPNet, DeepLabv3+ prediction networks, and dedicated network for MRI images. The experimental results showed that the average intersegmental union (mIoU) and average pixel accuracy (mPA) of organ segmentation were 82.33% and 90.10%, respectively, higher than the above comparison network. Meanwhile, we used CI-UNet for the spine dataset of the Guizhou branch of Beijing Jishuitan Hospital. The average intersegmental union (mIoU) and average pixel accuracy (mPA) of organ segmentation were 87.97% and 93.48%, respectively, which were approved by the physicians for both tasks. The topography and landforms of Guizhou Province in China are complicated, and the climatic conditions of heavy precipitation make landslide disasters in Guizhou Province occur frequently. To avoid damage to people's lives and economic property caused by disasters, a reliable early landslide identification method and landslide monitoring method are urgently needed. Traditional landslide identification and monitoring methods have limitations. InSAR technology has unique advantages in large-scale landslide identification and monitoring, but landslide identification results based on a single deformation value are one-sided. Therefore, this paper uses Sentinel-1A radar satellite image data and uses InSAR technology and optical remote sensing technology to carry out large-scale surface deformation monitoring and identification of dangerous deformation areas in Liupanshui City, Tongren City, Guiyang City and other regions in Guizhou Province. The potential landslide identification methods based on the time series normalized difference vegetation index and landslide development environment elements are combined to investigate hidden landslide hazards in the study area. In this paper, time series InSAR technology is used to monitor three key landslides in Jichang Town, Yujiaying and Fana, to grasp the movement status of the landslide in time. As a major ecological project with the largest investment scale, strongest policy support, most extensive involvement, and the highest level of public participation in the world, the Sloping Land Conversion Program (SLCP) implemented by China is important for protecting the ecological environment and achieving long-term stability. Consolidating the SLCP's achievements is key to its sustainable operation. Based on a sample of 612 farmers in Guizhou Province, this paper discusses the impact of value perception and government regulation on farmers' behavior in terms of their continued SLCP maintenance. The results show that (1) value perception and government regulation are important factors affecting the sustainability of farmers' behavior of continuing to maintain the SLCP. Perceived economic value and perceived cost input, as dimensions of value perception, and policy publicity and economic incentives, as dimensions of government regulation, have important influences on farmers' continued SLCP maintenance. (2) There are complementary effects between value perception and government regulation. Policy publicity and perceived ecological value, technical guidance and perceived economic and social value, and economic incentives and perceived economic value can have complementary effects on farmers' continued maintenance behavior. (3) Value perception and government regulation heterogeneously impact different groups of farmers. In terms of intergenerational differences, perceived cost inputs and punitive measures significantly affect only new-generation farmers. In terms of farmer type, perceived economic value does not significantly affect nonfarmers; perceived cost input significantly affects part-time farmers engaged mainly in off-farm employment, and technical guidance and economic incentives have the greatest impact on pure farmers. In terms of tree species, perceived cost input and policy publicity significantly impact only ecological forest farmers, while technical guidance has a greater impact on economic forest farmers. The findings provide an in-depth understanding of the mechanism underlying farmers' behavior in maintaining the SLCP and offer a reference for promoting the goals of forestry ecological policies against the background of rural revitalization and green development. Intermountain basins are the granaries of the karst mountains of southwest China. Revealing the process and trend of land-use transformation in typical mountainous "granaries" is of great significance to optimizing land-use, food security, and rural revitalization in the karst mountains of southwest China. Lianjiang basin in Huishui County is the largest in Guizhou Province of southwest China, and a typical mountainous "granary" is used as a case study area. Based on seven periods of high-definition remote sensing images from 1966 to 2020 and on-the-spot investigation, we adopt the analysis methods of landscape pattern, moving window, and buffer zone and conduct an in-depth study on the spatial evolution of land-use and the land-use transformation law of the typical "granaries" of karst mountainous areas in southwest China from the perspectives of changes in the quantity of land-use, changes in the types of land-use, and changes in the landscape pattern. The results showed that the transformation of land-use in the basin was mainly manifested in the transformation of the function of cultivated land and the diversification of the function of cultivated land. The landscape pattern of the basin was gradually transformed from traditional rural landscape to modern agricultural landscape. The gradient effect of land-use evolution and transformation in the study basin was obvious. Traffic, location, and land resources significantly affect land-use transformation in the basin. Based on the above analysis, this paper proposes that the "granary" basins in karst mountainous areas should optimize the land-use of the basin by the trade-off between regional socio-economic development, ecological protection, and food security. The results of this paper provide a reference for land-use optimization and rural development in the granary-type basins and other similar areas in the karst mountains of southwest China. Soil moisture content changes caused by rainfall and other factors can significantly affect slope stability and potentially lead to geological disasters, such as landslides and debris flows. However, conventional finite element methods for strength reduction do not consider the impact of water content on slope stability. This paper examines classical finite element methods for reducing the double strength coefficient and then introduces a novel approach using changes in moisture content. The new method is implemented through the use of an ABAQUS FE program's USDFLD user-defined subroutine. This paper concludes by contrasting the outcomes derived from the limit equilibrium technique and other techniques and verifying the accuracy of the suggested approach through theoretical and numerical simulations. The numerical calculations for the stability evaluation of the Azhuoluo slope in the Chinese province of Guizhou, Shuicheng county were performed utilizing the ABAQUS FE platform's USDFLD user-defined subroutine based on the double-strength discounting method, in response to the large landslide disaster in the region. The results show that the red clay, formed from the weathering of basalt in the area, experiences asynchronous decay in both friction angle and cohesion as the water content increases, with a significantly higher decay rate in the internal friction angle compared to cohesion. This indicates that traditional finite element methods that synchronously discount the internal friction angle and cohesion do not correspond to reality, whereas this proposed double-strength discounting method, based on water content changes, accurately reflects the essential characteristics of slope instability and has clear physical meaning and practical engineering applications. Digital technology has already permeated the production and operations of organizations, with many incorporating it into employee performance evaluations. However, there remains a research gap in identifying effective approaches to achieving digital performance. Furthermore, while scholars have often mentioned the differences in employee attitudes, and employee dynamic capability (EDC) in the dynamic digital market, empirical evidence supporting this notion is scarce. This paper investigates the influence of high-involvement human resource management practices (HI-HRMPs) on employee digital performance (EDP) within Chinese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), focusing on specific cultural regions in China. Using purposive sampling, four representative regions (Guangzhou, Shanghai, Guizhou, and Anhui) were selected for Survey. Structural equation modeling (AMOS) was employed to examine the relationships between HI-HRMPs as the independent variable and employee competitive attitudes, employee competitive behaviors, and employee dynamic capabilities as mediating variables, with a focus on their impact on employee digital performance. Contrary to direct effects, the study reveals that HI-HRMPs do not directly influence employee digital performance. Instead, employee competitive attitudes and behaviors, along with their dynamic capabilities, emerge as significant mediating variables in this relationship. Specifically, employee competitive attitudes and behaviors, as well as employee dynamic capabilities, play crucial roles in mediating the relationship between HI-HRMPs and employee digital performance. Furthermore, the findings indicate that employee dynamic capabilities exhibit greater influence on employee digital performance compared to employee competitive attitudes and behaviors, particularly in the context of a rapidly evolving digital marketplace. In the globalization trend, China's cultural heritage is in danger of gradually disappearing. The protection and inheritance of these precious cultural resources has become a critical task. This paper focuses on the Miao batik culture in Guizhou Province, China, and explores the application of knowledge graphs, natural language processing, and deep learning techniques in the promotion and protection of batik culture. We propose a dual-channel mechanism that integrates semantic and visual information, aiming to connect batik pattern features with cultural connotations. First, we use natural language processing techniques to automatically extract batik-related entities and relationships from the literature, and construct and visualize a structured batik pattern knowledge graph. Based on this knowledge graph, users can textually search and understand the images, meanings, taboos, and other cultural information of specific patterns. Second, for the batik pattern classification, we propose an improved ResNet34 model. By embedding average pooling and convolutional operations into the residual blocks and introducing long-range residual connections, the classification performance is enhanced. By inputting pattern images into this model, their categories can be accurately identified, and then the underlying cultural connotations can be understood. Experimental results show that our model outperforms other mainstream models in evaluation metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score, achieving 94.46%, 94.47%, 93.62%, and 93.8%, respectively. This research provides new ideas for the digital protection of batik culture and demonstrates the great potential of artificial intelligence technology in cultural heritage protection. The marine–continental transitional shale of the Upper Permian Longtan Formation in northern Guizhou is an important source rock in the upper Yangtze region of China, and it holds significant potential for the exploration of shale gas. To investigate the correlation between sedimentary conditions and the accumulation of organic matters in marine–continental transitional shale, this paper performed an extensive analysis using organic geochemical testing, organic petrology examination, a cross-section polisher–scanning electron microscope (CP-SEM), and geochemical analysis. The Jinsha and Dafang drilling cores were selected as the research subjects. The results showed that the TOC of the Longtan Formation in the study area was relatively high, and the TOC content of the tidal flat–lagoon environment (average of 8.37%) was significantly higher than that of the delta samples (average of 2.77%). The high content of Al2O3 (average of 17.41% in DC-1, average of 16.53% in JC-1) indicated strong terrigenous detrital input. The proxies indicated that the Longtan Formation shale in northern Guizhou was deposited in a climate that was both warm and humid, with oxic–dysoxic sedimentary water characterized by high biological productivity and a rapid sedimentation rate. The organic-rich shales during the marine and continental transitional phases were affected by various factors, including the paleo-climate, water redox properties, paleo-productivity, sedimentation rate, and other variables, which directly or indirectly impacted the availability, burial, and preservation of organic matter. Energy transition is a major structural change in the whole social system, and the energy system must be changed globally to replace fossil fuels. Hydropower is one of the largest sources of renewable energy in the world. However, owing to the construction of hydropower projects, involuntary resettlers are suffering from being far away from their native land, losing the land cultivated for generations and the houses they live in, and losing the social relationship network based on geography and blood ties. Based on the system evaluation theory of reservoir resettlement and referring to relevant research findings, this paper constructs a comprehensive evaluation index framework for assessing the implementation effect of the Post-Relocation Support (PReS) policy. The research region is located in Zhijin County, Bijie City, Guizhou Province, China. Accordingly, a combined method of a structural equation model and a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model is used in this paper to analyze the implementation of the PReS policy. The results show that the total score of implementing effects of the PReS policy is 4.4, with dramatic significance. The subindex scores of the resettlers' family income, living conditions, and production conditions; the local economy; and social stability are 4.3, 4.6, 4.4, 4.6, and 4.3, respectively, with dramatic significance. This paper has analyzed and summarized the successful practices of implementing the PReS policy for reservoir resettlers in three dimensions: poverty alleviation, beautiful home construction, and accelerating rural revitalization. Developing green and low-carbon agriculture is an important and effective way to promote farmers' income growth. Given the country's "dual carbon" goal, the study of the impact of green and low-carbon agriculture on the income of farmers in ethnic minority areas is crucial for China to achieve the goals of socialist modernization and common prosperity. Taking Y Town, Zhijin County, Guizhou Province as an example, this paper uses the OLS regression method to empirically study the impact of green and low-carbon agricultural production methods on the income of farmers in ethnic minority mountainous agricultural areas based on the field survey data of 881 farmers. The regression results indicate that there is a positive correlation between green and lowcarbon agricultural production and the household income levels of farmers; adopting green and low-carbon agricultural production technologies can effectively promote the growth of farmers' household income. In addition, education level, health status, and the new rural social pension insurance have all had a significant effect on the income of rural households, however, due to the difficulty in establishing trust relationships, agricultural service outsourcing has reduced the household income level of farmers. As an example, the land transfer behavior in Y Town has no significant effect on increasing farmers' incomes. Finally, it is recommended to increase fiscal and financial support as well as effectively enhancing farmers' policy awareness and perception of green and low-carbon agricultural production technologies by improving farmers' general trust and institutional trust by strengthening farmers' agricultural education and skills training while cultivating technology-based farming. At the same time, it is necessary to break the geographical restrictions on land transfer scale and achieve moderate-scale land management while promoting the use and adoption of green and low-carbon agricultural production technologies, thereby improving agricultural production efficiency and product quality, and increasing the sustainable growth of farmers' income. From core observations of shales of the Niutitang formation in the northern part of Guizhou Province, China, calcite was often found to act as a natural fracture filler and affect the extension of fractures in hydraulic fracturing. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the tensile mechanical behavior of shales by calcite veins. In this paper, by computed tomography scanning of shales containing calcite veins of different dip angles from the Niutitang formation, a three‐dimensional numerical model reflecting the internal fine structure of the shale was constructed. Direct tensile numerical simulations were carried out to investigate the effect of calcite veins at different angles on the fine‐scale damage process and mechanical properties of shale. The experimental results show that the tensile capacity of the shale increases with the increase in calcite veins. Depending on the dip angle of the calcite vein, the damage pattern of the shale is divided into three types of damage: pull‐off damage along the calcite vein, jagged damage, and horizontal damage perpendicular to the loading method. At high dip angles, the shale damage is more intense and the fracture network more complex. The temporal and spatial characteristics of the acoustic emissions provide a good indication of the microscopic behavior of the shale specimens during the damage process. The box dimension method was used to calculate the fractal dimension of the shale specimens at the final damage, and it was found that the damage was more intense and the fracture network was more complex at high dip angles, and there was an angular threshold. Guizhou Province is one of the main producing areas of Camellia oleifera in China. In recent years, the area of newly planted C. oleifera forest has been expanding, which led to a larger yield potential in Guizhou Province. This paper combeded the main problems of camellia processing industry development in Guizhou Province, including a lack of scale production, basic research and deep processing technology, as sell as a lack of powerful brands and quality management system. It foucused on discussion of processing industry, and pointed out keys to healthy develop Guizhou camellia processing industry. In addition, it also put forward suggestions and countermeasures for development of camellia processing industry in Guizhou from 6 aspects: promoting the transformation and upgrading of camellia processing, extending the industrial chain of camellia processing, encouraging the diversified development of industry, cultivating large and medium-sized camellia processing enterprises, implementing brand development strategy, building scientific research platform, accelerating technological innovation and upgrading, and improving product quality standard system, in order to promote healthy and rapid development of camellia processing industry in Guizhou Province. With the intensification of global climate change, the frequency of wildfires has markedly increased, presenting an urgent challenge in assessing tripping failures for power systems. This paper proposes an innovative method to evaluate the spatial wildfire-induced tripping risk of transmission lines based on a flame combustion model. Firstly, Bayes theory is employed to assess the spatial probability of wildfire occurrence. Subsequently, Wang Zhengfei's flame combustion model is utilized to estimate the potential flame height of wildfires along the transmission corridor. Thirdly, the insulation breakdown risk of the transmission line is calculated based on the relative height difference between the flame and the transmission line. Finally, the spatial wildfire-induced tripping risk of the transmission line is then determined by combining the wildfire occurrence probability and the insulation breakdown risk. A case study conducted in Guizhou province, China validates the accuracy of the proposed model. Utilizing ArcGIS, the wildfire occurrence probability distribution in Guizhou is visualized to enhance the efficiency of operation and maintenance. High-altitude rockfalls, as one of the major geological disasters in mountains, is highly concerned about the study of failure mechanisms and disaster prevention and mitigation. In August 2020, the Babaoshan cliff in Yanhe County, Guizhou collapsed and falling rocks hit agricultural vehicles on the road and damaged residents' houses below. Based on on-site investigation, three rockfall types of tension-rotating, tension-shear-falling, compression-shear exist in the study area, and the compression-shear rockfall can conform to the chain law of rockfall. The paper used the dynamic analysis software Rocpro-3D to simulate and invert the movement characteristics and impact range of rockfall at Babaoshan cliff. The results show that: 1) the hazardous zone, which is about 95 m wide and 175 m long, was formed by the rockfall at R1 and covered localized roads and houses below, with the covered probability of 20%, 17% respectively; 2) the terrains on the rockfall paths in two rockfall disaster events are mainly characterized by stepped shape and overall flat angle respectively, and the behaviors are mainly characterized by ejection and rolling respectively, meanwhile, the times to reach the road and houses were 17 s and 24.3 s, respectively, in addition, the protruding rock mass below the rockfall location gives the falling rock horizontal velocity and good movement space, which will make the falling rock move further away; 3) the different rockfall directions reflect different terrain combinations, simulation inversions reveal that different terrain combinations have significant control over the distance and shape of the rockfall trajectories. And, it was found that the more times a falling rock is rebounded, the greater the energy obtained; 4) the probabilities of falling rocks at H1, H2, H3 invading residential areas are respectively 8.67%, 20%, 19.33%, meanwhile invading road zone are respectively 10.67%, 15.33%, 9.33%. At least one point or several points stopped within the zone of the affected houses in the rockfall disaster event 2 in three prediction of the rockfall impact range, which indicates that there is a great risk that this house will continue to be affected by disasters after rockfalls occur within the steep cliff area above. China has an exceptional diversity in Begonia, holding the second largest number of described species in this genus at the national level. Many new taxa need to be explored and described. This paper reports two new species, Begonia ruchengensis (B. sect. Reichenheimia) and B. auritalata (B. sect. Platycentrum), from Hunan province and Guizhou province, respectively. Besides the detailed morphology description, color illustrations, and line drawings, the diagnoses of these two species distinguished from their allied taxa are provided. China is rich in karst resources and famous for its karst landscape. As a part of karst, the popularity of red karst is obviously low and has received little attention; moreover, the related scientific research and tourism development are relatively immature. Therefore, this paper takes the red karst in Tongren, Guizhou as the research object, analyzes the characteristics and causes of the red karst, comprehensively evaluates its landscape value, and puts forward development strategies and protection suggestions. Through the above research, the following three research results are obtained. (1) On the basis of a field investigation and a literature review, the geographical situation, background, and landscape characteristics of the red karst landform and its surrounding areas in Tongren City were investigated in detail. It forms isolated peaks, rock walls, protruding rocks, stone pillars, and other forms. The most prominent features of the red karst landscape in Tongren City are that the color is red and white, and the shape is concave and convex in order. (2) Geochemical test and structural data collection and analyses of the collected samples were performed. The obtain concave layer rock is dolomitic limestone, and that convex lay rock is argillaceous dolomitic limestone. Because the convex layer rock sample is high in silicon element content, the convex layer rock sample is not easy to be weathered, is rich in clay mineral, and is not easy to be corrode; the convex layer rock sample gradually protrudes with the passage of time to form an uneven shape. The red karst landform is developed in either the rock stratum or tectonic zone with moderate tectonic deformation intensity. First, the formation of a single-layer honeycomb morphology requires that the rock stratum is subjected to a sufficient horizontal compressive stress at a certain burial depth. Second, it is necessary to widely exist in areas with relatively gentle rock formation occurrence; too strong of a structural deformation will make the rock formation occurrence steep, which is not conducive to the occurrence of differential dissolution between adjacent strata. (3) Through the construction of an evaluation index system, the red karst in Tongren City is evaluated, and it is concluded that the geological heritage value is high, and the development and utilization conditions are weak. The conclusion of this article is a supplement to the geological and geomorphological system characteristics of southern karst. From the perspective of world natural heritage, the study enriches the academic evidence of red karst and enables its exemplary role to be well played. From the perspective of the tourism development value, more people should be made aware of the diverse types of karst landforms, which provide experience and suggestions for the value of landforms, tourism resources, and tourism development in similar areas. Resource depletion, land-use change, and population growth triggered by the industrial revolution represent serious issues shared globally that have altered the structure, processes, and functions of ecosystems and had significant impacts on human well-being and survival security. This paper assesses changes in ecosystem service values (ESVs) in karst areas based on the perspective of land-use change. Guizhou province, which is typical of the South China Karst (SCK) ecologically fragile areas, was taken as a research subject. The past, current, and future spatial-temporal evolution of karst ESVs were assessed, using equivalence factors and CA-Markov modelling methods. The results show that: (1) from 1980 to 2040, arable land, woodland, and grassland occupy the main land types in the study area; at the same time, the water and built-up areas show a steady growth trend, with dramatic land use shifts occurring in the western, middle, and northern parts. (2) The overall ESVs increased by US$ 31.12 million during the study period, showing a temporal change trend of first decreasing and then increasing; forest land, grassland, and arable land area shift are the main factors of ESVs change; soil conservation, biodiversity conservation, and gas regulation functions are enhanced and play a vital role in the single ESVs increase; ESVs show a basin-type spatial distribution pattern. (3) The sensitivity index is <1, the ESV is inelastic to the VC factor adjustment, and the results are true and valid. This paper found that using quantitative methods to predict land use change of the South China Karst can provide accurate assessment of the differences in supply and demand for natural and social ecosystem services (ES) in a region, clarifying the trade-offs and synergies of ecosystem service functions, contributing to the achievement of sustainable development, and providing a practical reference for global land landscape optimization and land resource planners. Selecting the best planting area for blueberries is an essential issue in agriculture. To better improve the effectiveness of blueberry cultivation, a machine learning-based classification model for blueberry ecological suitability was proposed for the first time and its validation was conducted by using multi-source environmental features data in this paper. The sparrow search algorithm (SSA) was adopted to optimize the CatBoost model and classify the ecological suitability of blueberries based on the selection of data features. Firstly, the Borderline-SMOTE algorithm was used to balance the number of positive and negative samples. The Variance Inflation Factor and information gain methods were applied to filter out the factors affecting the growth of blueberries. Subsequently, the processed data were fed into the CatBoost for training, and the parameters of the CatBoost were optimized to obtain the optimal model using SSA. Finally, the SSA-CatBoost model was adopted to classify the ecological suitability of blueberries and output the suitability types. Taking a study on a blueberry plantation in Majiang County, Guizhou Province, China as an example, the findings demonstrate that the AUC value of the SSA-CatBoost-based blueberry ecological suitability model is 0.921, which is 2.68% higher than that of the CatBoost (AUC = 0.897) and is significantly higher than Logistic Regression (AUC = 0.855), Support Vector Machine (AUC = 0.864), and Random Forest (AUC = 0.875). Furthermore, the ecological suitability of blueberries in Majiang County is mapped according to the classification results of different models. When comparing the actual blueberry cultivation situation in Majiang County, the classification results of the SSA-CatBoost model proposed in this paper matches best with the real blueberry cultivation situation in Majiang County, which is of a high reference value for the selection of blueberry cultivation sites. A large volume of evidence indicates that only high-class students attend extracurricular activities (Art, music, sport, dancing). On the other hand, this evidence intensively underlines the substantial importance of such extracurricular activities, particularly in visual art, in promoting children's cognitive and non-cognitive well-being. Adolescents' participation in visual art was always interrelated with enhancing their emotional affection towards the Art and cognitive skill in making one, which ultimately built solid efficacy that allows them to interact with their society. The present cross-sectional study sought to shed light on the potential impact of visual art on adolescents' emotional, cognition, and self-efficacy development, which needs to be improved in the Chinese context. Hence, randomly sampled (N = 2139) junior secondary school students were recruited from the rural province of Guizhou in Southwest China to attain the aim of the study. The study's finding affirms that students engaged in artistic activities start to develop a habit of communicating with their peers, showing their work, and commenting on works made by their peers or observed in art exhibitions or museums; such a process makes them self-efficacious. Ultimately, this paper extends the application of visual art activities from educational benefits to nonacademic development, which are the primary agents for children's well-being. Background: Scutellaria amoena (SA) is the root of S. amoena C.H. Wright of Labiatae, also known as Scutellaria southwestern. This is mainly distributed in Sichuan, Yunnan, and Guizhou in China. In southwest China, SA is used as an alternative method to genuine medicine for the treatment of allergy, diarrhea, inflammation, hepatitis, and bronchitis. Thus far, studies on the effects of SA on non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) are lacking. This paper investigated the effect of SA on the regulation of gut microbiota and its metabolites in NASH rats by inhibiting the NOD-like receptor 3 (NLRP3)/apoptosis-associated specklike protein (ASC)/caspase-1 axis. Methods: A NASH rat model was induced by a high-fat diet (HFD) for 12 weeks, and rats were orally given different doses of SA extracts (150 and 300 mg/kg/d) for 6 weeks. Changes in histological parameters, body weight, organ indexes, cytokines, and biochemical parameters related to NLRP3 in NASH rats were checked. 16S rRNA gene sequencing and UPLC-MS/MS technology were used to analyze the changes in the gut microbiota composition and its metabolites in NASH rats. Results: SA significantly inhibited the HFD-induced increase in body weight, lipid levels, and inflammatory infiltration. SA notably inhibited the HFD-induced increase in the upper and lower factors of NLRP3, such as transforming growth factor (TGF)-β, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-6, IL-18, pro-IL-18, IL-1β, pro-IL-1β, NLRP3, ASC, and caspase-1. Additionally, mRNA expressions of caspase-1, NLRP3, and ASC were significantly downregulated after SA treatment. The results of the intestinal flora showed that SA could increase the diversity of flora and change its structure and composition in NASH rats by reducing Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes (F/B) ratio, Blautia (genus), Lachospiraceae (family), and Christensenellaceae R-7 group (genus), and increasing Muribaculaceae (family) and Bacteroides (genus). The metabolomics revealed that 24 metabolites were possibly the key metabolites for SA to regulate the metabolic balance of NASH rats, including chenodeoxycholic acid, xanthine, and 9-OxoODE. Nine metabolic pathways were identified, including primary bile acid biosynthesis, bile secretion, purine metabolism, and secondary bile acid biosynthesis. In order to strengthen the improvement and optimization of eco-environment management in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the paper studies the use of KPCA to build a judgment model of eco-environment management capacity, and analyzes the factors affecting the governance capacity in combination with the panel data regression model, so as to propose strategies for improving the governance capacity. The research outcomes indicate that from 2012 to 2021, the environmental and ecological governance capacity of the Yangtze River Economic Belt maintained an upward trend, and the governance capacity of the lower reaches was the best, with Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang ranking the top three, and Yunnan and Guizhou ranking the worst. The regression coefficients of industrial development, urbanization, economic development and opening to the outside world are − 3.4896, − 3.7891, 2.3489 and 0.1148 respectively. It is required to strengthen environmental and ecological governance from four aspects of industrial transformation, urban construction, green economy and open communication, and improve the eco-environment management capacity and level of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Climate change and human activities are important causes of runoff changes in watersheds. The Budyko hydrothermal coupled equilibrium equation is a common tool for runoff change analysis, because it takes into account certain physical causes on the one hand, and the parameters of the equation are simple on the other hand, so it has been widely used in runoff change attribution for a long time. However, the current research and application of Budyko' s formula for time-varying forms still need to be strengthened. Therefore, this paper first analyzes the trend and abrupt change of annual runoff in the study area by Mann-Kendall test and abrupt change test, and then constructs the time- varying Budyko formula based on the principle of hydrothermal coupling equilibrium, including linear, quadratic polynomial and physical mechanism, and uses Nash efficiency coefficient as the evaluation index to verify the most suitable. Finally, the contribution of precipitation, potential evapotranspiration and human activities to the runoff change is calculated, and the attribution analysis of the runoff change in the Liudong River basin is carried out. The results of this study show that the runoff of the river basin has been decreasing in recent years with the impact of climate change, with a significant change in 1997. A comparison of the sensitivity of precipitation, potential evapotranspiration and human activities to runoff show that the decrease in precipitation is the dominant factor in the decrease in runoff, with a contribution of 49%. Meanwhile, with the development of human economy and society and the construction of large water conservancy facilities, the influence of human activities on runoff changes in the basin is gradually emerging, with a contribution rate of about 26%. When urban subway tunnels cross existing bridge pile foundations, having a pile foundation underpinning that ensures the safe operation of existing bridges while enabling the safe construction of subway tunnels is the focus of attention. This paper takes the running tunnel project from Huaguoyuan West Station to Huaguoyuan East Station of Rail Transit Line 3 in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province as the background. The reasonableness and feasibility of the passive underpinning construction scheme for the Guihuang Viaduct was studied. The construction plan includes the following steps: underpinning pile construction, foundation pit excavation, the concreting of the underpinning bearing platform, and existing pile truncation. In order to ensure the structural safety of the existing viaduct during the construction of the pile foundation underpinning, a 3D numerical model of the construction of pile foundation underpinning and the whole process of tunnel construction was established. The settlement calculation results of the foundation pit and bridge pier were compared and analyzed with the field monitoring data to verify the accuracy of the numerical model. Further detailed analysis of the settlement of the bridge deck, the deformation of the existing piles, the axial forces of the existing piles, and the forces on the underpinning bearing platform was carried out. The results show that the bridge superstructure load can be transferred to the underpinning bearing platform smoothly after the existing pile truncation construction. The removal of obstacle piles during tunnel excavation has a very limited impact on the superstructure of the bridge, proving the reasonableness and feasibility of the construction plan. Many Camellia oleifera germplasm resources were collected from Guizhou Province, but the fruit morphological variation and genetic diversity of C. oleifera germplasm resources remain unclear. The genetic diversity of C. oleifera germplasms resources in Guizhou was studied based on fruit traits and simple sequence repeat (SSR) molecular markers to build a core collection. This paper aims to provide a scientific basis for the collection, management, development, and utilization of C. oleifera resources in Guizhou province. The variation coefficients among and within varieties of seven fruit phenotypic traits of C. oleifera ranged from 11.79% to 61.76% and from 8.15% to 42.31%, respectively, showing rich phenotypic variation. Furthermore, 12 SSR markers were used to analyze the genetic diversity. These primers generated 214 polymorphic bands, and the average number was 17.833. The average number of effective alleles (Ne), Shannon's information index (I), observed heterozygosity (Ho), expected heterozygosity (He), polymorphic information content (PIC), and major allele frequency (MAF) were 8.999, 2.301, 0.965, 0.50, 0.836, and 0.238, respectively. The results showed that 12 SSR markers had high polymorphism, and the genetic diversity of 167 C. oleifera germplasm resources was high. Based on SSR molecular marker information and fruit traits clustering, 167 C. oleifera germplasm resources were divided into three groups. When constructing core collections based on fruit traits and molecular marker information, the PowerCore-25 of core collections greatly preserves fruit traits and improves genetic diversity. This paper can provide a reference for the genetic diversity and fruit traits variation of C. camellia germplasm resources in Guizhou Province. The simplification operation has always been a challenging research problem in the field of cartography generalization and expression. Continuous tessellation area data of land cover, whose source data come from high-resolution remote sensing satellite sensors, are an important type of remote sensing application data to express the spatial distribution information of natural and artificial objects on Earth's surface. In this paper, a novel and practical simplification method for continuous tessellation area data is proposed. The first step is area discretization, in which a general topological structure containing semantic features is established, and land patches are divided into multiple arcs on the basis of this topological structure. The second step is arc simplification, in which arcs are classified into artificial and natural types according to their semantic and morphological features, and corresponding simplification algorithms are assigned. The final step is area reconstruction, based on the semantic and topological information, and simplified arcs are reconstructed to patch polygons. The geography and national conditions census data of a city in Guizhou Province, China, are used to verify the rationality and effectiveness of the method. Experimental results showed that the method proposed in this article is suitable for the simplification processing of artificial and natural land features. The simplification results can maintain the overall shape of the patches and reduce the complexity of the arcs effectively, and the semantic information of each patch after simplification is also correct. The human settlement environment is a dynamic subsystem where people live and produce in the social system. This paper aims at evaluating comprehensively the suitability state of a given human settlement environment in a certain time and space and its evolutionary trend, the set pair analysis theory and its connection numbers are introduced into the suitability evaluation, and the set of human settlements is established. The set pair analysis model based on partial connection number is used to assess the suitability status and the development trend of human settlements in Guizhou Province from 2014 to 2017. Featured Application: This paper provides a simulation method for extreme precipitation events in geotechnical slopes (spatio-temporal connections, forecasting, generation, impact analysis, and vulnerability and risk assessment). Our improved methods provide a valuable tool for engineering disaster early warning and contribute to a better understanding of hydrodynamic processes in general. Coal gangue is one of the largest solid wastes in the world. In previous studies, the influence and mechanisms of rainfall infiltration on coal gangue slope stability and possible rain erosion have been studied through theoretical analysis, numerical simulation, and modelling, and the results have indicated that discontinuous discrete element methods are the most suitable for determining the erosion mechanism of coal gangue slopes. In this study, we take a Guizhou coal gangue slope as a general case, use three-dimensional Particle Flow Code (PFC3D) as the key method, and combine discrete element fluid–structure coupling technology with optimized erosion shear failure theory to determine the erosion failure mechanism of coal gangue slopes. We investigate a coal gangue slope near the electric power plant in Panzhou City, Guizhou Province (China) as a case study, and conduct a comprehensive analysis of the erosion induced by the corrosion damage mechanism. We use the PFC3D method, combined with optimized rain erosion shear failure theory, for our investigation. The applied methods mainly consider dynamic inversion of the erosion process, as well as the changes in coordination number, porosity, unbalanced force, and energy dissipation. The scour damage type of the studied gully is intermittent fragmentary damage, with the following inferred damage sequence: Center–bottom–top of the slope. The entire erosion damage process can be divided into three stages: catchment–fracture, erosion–accumulation, and piping–penetration failure. In the first stage of erosion, the force chain fracture is the most severe. The maximum kinetic energy reaches 25 MJ and the coordination number decreases from 5.3 to 4.0, whereas the porosity increases from 0.42 to 0.45. Unexpected lateral erosion and expansion occur at 40–60 m (in the central slope) in the y-direction of the slope, the unbalanced force reaches 7500 N, and the peak porosity is increased by 10%. Eutrophication caused by excessive total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) emissions is of wide concern for society at large. Studies have revealed certain relationships among land use, TN, and TP. However, the relationships among land use compound topographic position, TP, and TN have seldom been studied. Therefore, the objectives of this paper are to construct optimal zoning of land use and reduce the nutrient load of lakes. Spearman correlation and redundancy analyses were used to reveal the relationship between land use comprehensive topographic position and TN and TP in the lakes of Guizhou Plateau. The results show that the nutritional state of the research area is medium. The trophic level index (TLI) value and TN concentration were high during flood periods, while TP concentration was high in dry periods. The TN concentration in the tributaries was higher than that in the reservoir area. Construction land and valley were the sources of the pollution, whereas forest land and gentle slope were the sink. According to the "source–sink" effect, once the optimal zoning of land use is completed, the governance of urban land pollution governed areas should be strengthened next. China's Guizhou is a typical karst landscape province with high production of chili pepper, but it is mostly planted in mountainous areas, while manual harvesting of chili pepper has the deficiencies of high labor intensity, low efficiency, and high labor cost; in addition, there is no harvesting machinery applicable to the dense planting pattern of the chili pepper in mountainous areas in China. The fully hydraulic mountain track-based self-propelled pepper harvester 4JZ-1.0A is designed to solve the above problems. The pepper harvester spiral comb picking head is an important part of the whole machine design, the design of the hydraulic system of the working circuit of the picking head is the key to realizing the hydraulic control part of the whole system. In this paper, the working principle diagram of the improved load-sensitive hydraulic system is designed and analyzed for the study of whether the working circuit of the pepper picking head of the pepper machine can meet the requirements of mountain operation, taking the working circuit of the mountain pepper harvester as the research object. In addition, the load-sensitive pump model and the simulation model of the whole working circuit are established by the AMESim platform 2019.2 (Siemens simcenter amesim). The operating performance of the system under variable flow conditions, variable load conditions, and an improved sensitive system is analyzed. The simulation results show that the improved load-sensitive system can effectively reduce the oscillation and cavitation during cylinder operation and improve the system efficiency and the performance and service life of the components. The performance of the hydraulic system of the working circuit of the mountain pepper harvester was verified in the test, meeting the requirements of working use. Prior to this study, no species of Pseudophanias Raffray had been reported from Nanling, a vast biodiversity conservation area that spans five provinces in southern China. In this paper, three new species of the genus are described: Pseudophanias furcilobus sp. nov. (Guizhou, Guangxi), P. leigong sp. nov. (Guizhou), and P. mulun sp. nov. (Guangxi), suggesting that additional study on the diversity of this group in the area is required. The Pitaya industry is a specialty fruit industry in the mountainous region of Guizhou, China. The planted area in Guizhou reaches 7200 ha, ranking first in the country. At present, Pitaya planting lacks efficient yield estimation methods, which has a negative impact on the Pitaya downstream industry chain, stymying the constant growing market. The fragmented and complex terrain in karst mountainous areas and the capricious local weather have hindered accurate crop identification using traditional satellite remote sensing methods, and there is currently little attempt made to tackle the mountainous specialty crops' yield estimation. In this paper, based on UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) remote sensing images, the complexity of Pitaya planting sites in the karst background has been divided into three different scenes as complex scenes with similar colors, with topographic variations, and with the coexistence of multiple crops. In scenes with similar colors, using the Close Color Vegetation Index (CCVI) to extract Pitaya plants, the accuracy reached 92.37% on average in the sample sites; in scenes with complex topographic variations, using point clouds data based on the Canopy Height Model (CHM) to extract Pitaya plants, the accuracy reached 89.09%; and in scenes with the coexistence of multiple crops, using the U-Net Deep Learning Model (DLM) to identify Pitaya plants, the accuracy reached 92.76%. Thereafter, the Pitaya yield estimation model was constructed based on the fruit yield data measured in the field for several periods, and the fast yield estimations were carried out and examined for three application scenes. The results showed that the average accuracy of yield estimation in complex scenes with similar colors was 91.25%, the average accuracy of yield estimation in scenes with topographic variations was 93.40%, and the accuracy of yield estimation in scenes with the coexistence of multiple crops was 95.18%. The overall yield estimation results show a high accuracy. The experimental results show that it is feasible to use UAV remote sensing images to identify and rapidly estimate the characteristic crops in the complex karst habitat, which can also provide scientific reference for the rapid yield estimation of other crops in mountainous regions. Healthy ecosystems are crucial for sustainable regional development. The lack of spatial distribution patterns and driving factors of ecosystem health limited ecosystem management and urban planning. Understanding the spatiotemporal variation characteristics of ecosystem health and its driving factors can contribute to ecosystem management. Based on the "vigor–organization–resilience" (VOR) framework, this paper focuses on increasing ESs and forming an improved "vigor–organization–resilience–ecosystem services (VORS)" framework to evaluate the ecosystem health of Guizhou Province in 2010 and 2020. At the same time, we used the geographic detector model to investigate the driving factors of ecosystem health in the region. The results revealed the following: (1) The areas of forest land accounted for more than 52%. Simultaneously, farmland and forest land decreased, while construction land increased from 2010 to 2020. Construction land was mainly converted from forest land, grassland and farmland. (2) The level of ecosystem health in Guizhou Province spatially increased from northwest to southeast, with the central part exhibiting the lowest health level. The ecosystem health index (EHI) was mainly moderate, accounting for 78.32% and 83.80% in 2010 and 2020, respectively. (3) Among the 11 selected driving factors, the gross domestic product (GDP), general public budget revenue, annual average temperature, average annual precipitation, and night light index significantly affected ecosystem health. Interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) has become a key technology for producing high-precision digital surface models (DSMs) and digital orthophoto maps (DOMs) in full time and all weathers. Airborne millimeter-wave InSAR, with large-scale and high-resolution imaging, is characterized by high spatial resolution, flexibility, and immunity to loss-of-correlation. This paper introduces our modeling experiments with airborne dual-antenna, Ka-band InSAR regarding typical topographies of China. Ka-band SAR data were acquired in designated experimental areas in flat (Heyang area in Shaanxi) and mountainous areas (Shibing area in Guizhou and Qionglai area in Sichuan). The key processing of the experimental data for DSMs and DOMs is demonstrated in the paper, especially the proposed robust and efficient phase unwrapping (PU) method for the interferometric data and block adjustment method of strip calibration. The results show that the proposed unwrapping method can provide reliable unwrapped phase results in undulating areas, and the block adjustment can carry out consistent calibration for strips with sparse ground control points (GCPs). The accuracy assessment of the DSM shows that the coordinate root mean square error (RSME) of the obtained DSM is less than 2 m in height, and 2.5 m horizontally, which meets the 1:5000 requirement for topographic mapping in difficult areas. Global warming, caused by greenhouse gas emissions, is a major challenge for all human societies. To ensure that ambitious carbon neutrality and sustainable economic development goals are met, regional human activities and their impacts on carbon emissions must be studied. Guizhou Province is a typical karst area in China that predominantly uses fossil fuels. In this study, a backpropagation (BP) neural network and extreme learning machine (ELM) model, which is advantageous due to its nonlinear processing, were used to predict carbon emissions from 2020 to 2040 in Guizhou Province. The carbon emissions were calculated using conversion and inventory compilation methods with energy consumption data and the results showed an "S" growth trend. Twelve influencing factors were selected, however, five with larger correlations were screened out using a grey correlation analysis method. A prediction model for carbon emissions from Guizhou Province was established. The prediction performance of a whale optimization algorithm (WOA)-ELM model was found to be higher than the BP neural network and ELM models. Baseline, high-speed, and low-carbon scenarios were analyzed and the size and time of peak carbon emissions in Liaoning Province from 2020 to 2040 were predicted using the WOA-ELM model. Investigating interplay between urbanization and carbon emissions is crucial for reaching carbon peak objective. This study employs a VAR model to examine correlation between the urbanization rate and carbon emissions specifically within Guizhou Province, VAR model has obvious advantages in studying the dynamic relationship between them. The findings indicate that: (1) In Guizhou Province, there is a nuanced interplay between the urbanization rate and carbon emissions, with the magnitude and direction of their influence varying across different time intervals. (2) Carbon emissions in Guizhou Province exhibit a notable self-propelling effect, while concurrently, the urbanization rate demonstrates an inertia effect, which also contributes to its own advancement. (3) The influence of the urbanization rate on carbon emissions in Guizhou Province experiences gradual rise before plateauing, suggesting that the high-quality advancement of new urbanization in the region facilitates the achievement of carbon reduction objectives. Finally, policy recommendations are put forward: (1) Conscientiously implement the central ecological environment zoning control policies, such as: Guizhou Province Ecological environment zoning control Plan and Guizhou Province Urban and Rural Construction Carbon peak Implementation Plan and other policies. (2) Pay attention to the quality of Guizhou's urbanization process. The change in raindrop spectrum characteristics is an important factor affecting the accuracy of estimations of precipitation. The in-depth study of raindrop spectrum characteristics is of great interest for understanding precipitation process and improving quantitative radar precipitation estimation. In this paper, the raindrop size distributions at Longli (57913), Puding (57808) and Luodian (57916) stations in Guizhou were analyzed from the perspective of precipitation microphysical characteristics. The results showed that the raindrop size distribution was different among different regions. The correlation coefficients of the mass-weighted average diameter for the rain intensities at these three stations were 46.89%, 49.51%, and 47.03%, respectively, which were slightly lower than the normal correlation coefficients of the average volume diameter for the rain intensities: 67.80%, 71.28%, and 71.46%, respectively. Based on the data from the Guiyang weather radar, raindrop spectrometer, and automatic rain gauge, the dynamic Z-I relationship method and the LSTM neural network method were used to estimate precipitation. The correlation coefficients of the dynamic Z-I relationship method and the LSTM neural network method at the three stations studied were 0.8432, 0.7763, and 0.8658 and 0.8745, 0.9125, and 0.8676, respectively. Regarding the process of stratiform cloud precipitation, the correlation coefficients of the dynamic Z-I relationship method and LSTM neural network method at the three stations were 0.6933, 0.0902, and 0.1409 and 0.7114, 0.4984, and 0.4902, respectively. In the estimation of cumulative precipitation for 45 days from 1 July to 16 August 2020, the relative errors of the neural network estimation at the three stations were −4.25%, −11.35%, and −8.68% and the relative errors of the dynamic Z-I relationship estimation were −2.68%, −7.41%, and −21.23%, respectively. The final relative error of the neural network was slightly worse than that of the dynamic Z-I relationship in the cumulative precipitation estimations of Longli station and Puding station, but the overall correlation coefficients of the LSTM neural network method were better than those of the dynamic Z-I relationship method. Recently, well-being of older people measure (WOOP) was developed and validated in a Dutch population. Although WOOP was developed targeting the older people, it has the potential for use in a wider population. In this study, we aimed to examine the relationship between WOOP and EQ-5D-5L and compared their psychometric properties in a sample of patients, carers and healthy general public covering a wider age group. We conducted a cross-sectional study in Guizhou Province, China between July and August 2022. Data was collected using paper and pencil. We analysed and reported the acceptability, item response distribution, the Spearman correlation coefficients of all items, the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) of all items, the known-group validity and the convergent validity of EQ-5D-5L utility and WOOP utility. A total of 322 participants completed the survey with 105 patients, 101 carers and 116 healthy general public. 9% of participants had at least one missing response. Three items of WOOP did not have any level 5 responses and EQ-5D-5L had more level 1 responses. The correlations were low between EQ-5D-5L and WOOP items and the three-factor EFA showed these two instruments had only one shared factor and the other two factors were only related to WOOP items. Younger people had lower missing response rate and a different response distribution for three items. WOOP measures a broader construct beyond health while EQ-5D-5L is a more sensitive instrument when health is considered alone. There is a potential of using WOOP in a wider population. In this paper, scouring shear failure theory is optimized based on the gangue slope near the thermal power field in Baiguo Town, Panzhou City, Guizhou Province. Based on the particle flow PFC (particle flow code) 3D fluid–solid coupling method, the scouring failure mechanism of ditch no. 5 of the gangue slope is comprehensively analyzed from the perspectives of the failure mode, displacement, motion track, and stress–strain. We consider the scouring shear theory in respect of (c, φ); this theory is dominated by two types of scouring intensity factors and can effectively explain the internal mechanisms of gully formation. The rainfall scouring failure of gangue slopes can be divided into four stages: (1) integral splash erosion and local pitting at the bottom of the slope; (2) erosion diversion and pitting in the slope; (3) the tributary–slope crest extension schist erosion stage; and (4) integral gully erosion and the landslide stage. The failure process is not only characterized by discontinuous failure but also occurs in the order of bottom–middle–branch–top. A three-section stepped effect is observed during the process in which the gangue is scoured and destroyed, which fully verifies the intermittent characteristics of the scouring and destruction of gangue slopes. During the whole process, the maximum displacement is concentrated at the top of the slope, and its proportions are as follows: top of the slope > tributary > middle of the slope > foot of the slope. The peak displacement of the slope crest in the horizontal Y-direction accounts for 41.76%, and that in the Z-direction accounts for 45.84%. Scouring deposits can be divided into the arc erosion deposit mode and the sector erosion deposit mode. Mainstream gullies primarily control whether deposits are characterized as arc or straight erosion deposits. The later stage of the second phase of scouring is the incubation period of the tributary gully. The large accumulation makes the stress at the bottom of the slope increase sharply, and the fluctuation value is between 2 and 6.8 MPa. The generation of the branch notch is mainly determined by X-direction stress, and 8.6 MPa is the critical stress. In efforts to prevent and control rainfall and landslide, the slope foot area should be preferentially protected, and the soil mass in the slope should be reduced to prevent the maximum energy fluctuation caused by scouring, so as to prevent significant displacement damage of the slope top. Karst depressions are ideal places for building reservoirs and stacking wastes, but karst depressions are mostly located in areas with strong karst development, and there is a problem of karst leakage. The study of karst depression monitoring methods can provide technical support for the construction of reservoirs in karst depressions, and leakage monitoring technology based on distributed temperature sensing (DTS) has the clear advantages of a large measurement range, high precision, continuity, wide distribution, large area, etc. In this paper, a temperature-sensing optical cable is first used to conduct leakage monitoring tests in different soil media, and the temperature change curve in different media is obtained, which verifies the feasibility of the heatable temperature-sensing optical cable to identify leakage in soil media with different moisture contents. Then, for the heatable distributed temperature-sensing optical cable, the variation law of the temperature eigenvalues of the sensing optical cable under different seepage velocities is studied using the layout method wrapped with saturated medium-coarse sand, and the relationship between the seepage rate and the temperature eigenvalues was analyzed. A regression formula for quantitative analysis of leakage velocity was established; finally, the manganese slag silo project in Songtao County in Guizhou Province, China, was used to simulate different leakage conditions on site for testing, and the data were compared and analyzed to obtain the route under different conditions. The temperature distribution law of the seepage section verifies the feasibility of the application of heatable temperature-sensing optical cables in the seepage monitoring of karst depressions. China is a country with the most widely distributed karst, and the karst is extensively developed in its southwesten part where 2,836 underground rivers are distributed with about 1,847.8 x 108 m³⋅a-1 of karst groundwater resources and a total discharge of 479.7 x 8 m³⋅a-1 in the dry season. These underground rivers become the main water source for people's life as well as the development of industry and agriculture in Southwest China. However, water shortage has often occurred in recent years, due to the unreasonable development and utilization of karst water resources. How to make scientific, reasonable and effective use of karst water resources has become a difficult problem in tackling water resource crisis. In this paper, we have studied the hydrological process and numerical simulation of groundwater in karst areas from the perspective of groundwater science, which is of great significance to the accurate evaluation, and rational development and utilzation of karst water resources. In this study, we take Dajing basin, a typical karst peak-cluster depression area in southern Guizhou Province, as the study area. Water-bearing media in karst areas often include karst pipelines with high permeability and dissolved gaps with low permeability. The flow mechanism of groundwater in these two media is quite different. The groundwater in the gap mainly accords with Darcy's law and the laminar flow mechanism, while the groundwater in the karst pipeline is mostly in the turbulent state due to the large flow rate. In the actual situation, the two media are independent of each other, but there is an interrelated process of hydraulic exchange on the boundary. Based on this, we adopt MODFLOW-CFP coupling model to carry out a numerical simulation of Dajing basin. MODFLOW-CFP is a dual-system coupling model based on dual structure theory. MODFLOW-CFP model contains three groundwater flow simulation methods. In this study, CFPM1, the most basic model, is adopted. In this pattern, the traditional groundwater flowing model is coupled with a specific pipeline model. The main purpose is to depict caves, cracks in interstitial space and basaltic aquifer pipes in karst aquifers, where groundwater can be fully or partially filled and flow patterns can be laminar or turbulent. Therefore, a complete simulation of the hydrological process of karst groundwater may help us to grasp the law of groundwater movement in Dajing basin, accurately evaluate karst water resources, and thus promote the rational development and utilization of the resources. The process of using MODFLOW-CFP to establish a mathematical model of groundwater in Dajing basin includes the establishment of porous media model in MODFLOW and pipeline model in CFP. Subsequently, the two models are combined together to identify the model and analyze the water balance, based on the coupling model. Finally, the water resources are evaluated and the mechanism of groundwater migration is studied. In this study, it is found that Dajing basin is a groundwater system with complete recharge, runoff and drainage conditions, and the North-South and the Northeast-Southwest trending structures control the distribution of regional karst aquifers and the development of karst. According to the buried conditions of groundwater and the practical significance of water supply, the main source of recharge in this area is atmospheric rainfall, and the main discharge is the outflow from the southern Dajing basin. Meanwhile, the simulation results show that the exchange capacity between pipes and porous media is 6,719.1 m³⋅a-1, mainly in the upper and middle reaches of Dajing basin. The total recharge water in the study area is 10,977.3 x 104 m³⋅a-1, and the recharge module is 133.495 m³⋅km-2⋅a-1. The rainfall inflow and infiltration accounts for 81.35% of the total recharge, and the total discharge is 10,813.47 x 104 m³⋅a-1, mainly from the outlet of the underground river. Based on the research findings, the migration mechanism of groundwater in Dajing basin is clarified, and new development and utilization of water resources are put forward to address the shortage of local water resources. Soil erosion often leads to land degradation, agricultural production reduction, and environmental deterioration, which seriously restricts the sustainable development of regions. Clarifying the driving factors of soil erosion is the premise of preventing soil erosion. Given the lack of current research on the driving factors/force changes of soil erosion in different regions or under different erosion intensity grades, this paper pioneered to use machine learning methods to address this problem. Firstly, the widely used (Revised) Universal Soil Loss Equation ((R)USLE) framework was applied to simulate the spatial distribution of soil erosion. Then, the K-fold algorithm was used to evaluate the accuracy and stability of five machine learning algorithms for fitting soil erosion. The random forest (RF) method performed best, with average accuracy reaching 86.35%. Then, the Permutation Importance (PI) and the Partial Dependence Plot (PDP) methods based on RF were introduced to quantitatively analyze the main driving factors under different geological conditions and the driving force changes of each factor under different erosion intensity grades, respectively. Results showed that the main drivers of soil erosion in Chongqing and Guizhou were cover management factors (PI: 0.4672, 0.4788), while that in Sichuan was slope length and slope factor (PI: 0.6165). Under different erosion intensity grades, the driving force of each factor shows nonlinear and complex inhibitory or promoting effects with factor value changing. These findings can provide scientific guidance for the refined management of soil erosion, which is significant for halting or reversing land degradation and achieving sustainable use of land resources. Centella asiatica (commonly known as gotu kola, the Chinese name is Jixuecao) has a long history of application and is widely used in many countries. Ethnobotanical fieldwork with Buyi villagers in Guizhou Province, China revealed that Centella asiatica is one of the most frequently consumed herbal teas. This paper reports on the nutritional value of Centella asiatica and some preparation methods for a new complex health care tea that we developed with it. The main objective of this short case study is to reflect on the social and ethical implications of developing a commercial tea product based on traditional ethnobotanical knowledge. It is hard to grasp the deformation law of the surrounding rock and the force characteristics of the support structure during the construction of ultra-small clearance tunnels in upper soil and lower rock composite strata. Based on the ultra-small clearance tunnel in Li Shuping, Tongxin Expressway, Guizhou, this paper adopted a combination of numerical simulation and field monitoring to analyze the influence of different burial depths and soil-rock interface positions on the deformation of the surrounding rock and the internal forces of the support structure of the ultra-small clearance tunnel. The conclusions are: (1) the monitoring data show that the stress in the steel frame of the leading tunnel increases first by the influence of proximity construction, and then decreases and reaches a stable value after the secondary lining is applied, and the stress at the arch waist of the soft soil layer furtherest from the side of the middle rock column is greater than that in the rock layer on the side of the middle rock column; (2) the position of the soil-rock interface has a significant influence on the initial support force of the first tunnel, and the bending moment of the structure increases with the downward movement of the soil-rock interface and the increase in the burial depth; (3) the influence of the soil-rock interface position on the initial support moment of the first tunnel is greater than the influence of proximity construction, a point to which attention should be paid during construction; and (4) when the soil-rock interface is located below the foot of the arch, the deformation of the surrounding rock of the following tunnel will be larger than that of the first tunnel. The blast vibration attenuation will change as the tunnel cut hole is blasted to create a new free surface. To guarantee safe tunnel construction and optimize blast design parameters, it is crucial to understand the impact of the free surface on blast vibration attenuation. Previous studies have often only qualitatively evaluated the effect of the free surface on blast vibration, failing to quantify these impacts on vibration attenuation. In this paper, by analyzing the decay law of the blast vibration velocity under different free surfaces, we quantitatively assessed the effect of the number of free faces and burden distance on the peak vibration velocity. Then, we introduced free-face parameters to enhance the current formula for predicting blast vibration velocity. The results show that the peak vibration velocity decreases with the increasing free surface number and increases with increasing burden distance; the free surface factor cannot be ignored in the decay of vibration velocity and contributes about 21% more to the total decay factor than the scale distance factor. The average tolerance rises from 24.79% in the Sadovsky formula to 13.32% in the correction formula, and the correction formula more precisely predicts the peak vibration velocity. The accuracy of the correction formula provides a good scientific basis for the design of tunnel blasting parameters. The research results were successfully applied to the Jiujiawan proximity tunnel on the Duyun-Anshun highway in Guizhou, effectively guaranteeing blasting safety with a minimum clear distance of 17.2 m. Sorghum bicolor is cultivated worldwide. Leaf spots on sorghum, which lead to leaf lesions and impaired growth, are prevalent and severe in Guizhou Province, Southwest China. In August 2021, new leaf spot symptoms were observed on sorghum plants growing in agricultural fields. We used conventional tissue isolation methods and pathogenicity determination tests. Inoculations of sorghum with isolate 022ZW resulted in brown lesions similar to those observed under field conditions. The original inoculated isolates were reisolated and fulfilled Koch's postulates. Based on the morphological character and phylogenetic analyses of the combined sequences of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region and the β-tubulin (TUB2) and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) genes, we identified the isolated fungus as C. fructicola. This paper is the first to report this fungus-causing disease in sorghum leaves. We studied the sensitivity of the pathogen to various phytochemicals. The sensitivity of C. fructicola to seven phytochemicals was measured using the mycelial growth rate method. Honokiol, magnolol, thymol, and carvacrol displayed good antifungal effects, with EC50 (concentration for 50% of the maximal effect) values of 21.70 ± 0.81, 24.19 ± 0.49, 31.97 ± 0.51, and 31.04 ± 0.891 µg/mL, respectively. We tested the control effect of the seven phytochemicals on the anthracnose caused by C. fructicola: honokiol and magnolol displayed good field efficacy.
