The article focuses on the results of a survey conducted by the publication which focused on the attitudes of college faculty and staff members concerning their relationships with their employers. Particular focus is given to attitudes related to career development opportunities, fairness, and job satisfaction. It notes that academics appear to be most positive concerning their work environment at the beginning and end of their careers, but are less satisfied mid-career. Differences in satisfaction between employees at private and public institutions are also explored. The article also offers suggestion for improving morale among mid-career faculty members.
