This study examines the relationship between co-worker incivility, emotional exhaustion, mindfulness, and turnover intention among nurses in public and private hospitals in North Cyprus. Drawing upon the Job Demand-Resources theory, the research aims to contribute to the existing literature by investigating the mediating role of emotional exhaustion and the moderating effect of mindfulness on the relationship between co-worker incivility and turnover intention. Data were collected from 238 nurses through questionnaires, and structural equationmodeling was employed for data analysis. The results indicate a positive association between co-worker incivility and emotional exhaustion, as well as between co-worker incivility and turnover intention. Emotional exhaustion was found to mediate the relationship between co-worker incivility and turnover intention. Furthermore, mindfulness was identified as a moderator, attenuating the negative impact of co-worker incivility on turnover intention. The findings underscore the importance of addressing workplace incivility and promoting mindfulness to mitigate turnover intentions among nurses. The effects of workplace incivility have been understudied in educational settings. To expand incivility research to educational professions, the present research investigates whether, how, and when workplace incivility deriving from different sources (coworkers, supervisors, and outsiders) is related to work-to-family interference (WFI) of preschool teachers. Drawing on the conservation of resources theory, the present study proposes that workplace incivility and subsequent maladaptive emotion labor strategies (i.e., surface acting) jointly create a resource-depletion mechanism contributing to elevated WFI and two resource-providing variables (supervisor work-family support and psychological detachment after hours) function as potential mitigating factors to break the resource-depletion mechanism. This study used a femaledominated sample (i.e., preschool teachers) found that workplace incivility from insiders (supervisors and coworkers respectively) and external stakeholders (child's family members) all positively linked to WFI, and surface acting mediated these relationships. Moreover, moderated mediation analyses indicated that psychological detachment buffered the mediated effect of surface acting on WFI, whereas supervisor work-family support did not. With the global economic downturn, the impact on internal systems of Chinese SMEs has also received great attention. However, the provocative and destructive nature of retaliation behavior by SME employees shifts resources meant for organizational system development towards addressing internal balance issues. Employees' retaliation behavior poses significant harm to organizations systems, limiting their long-term sustainability and competitiveness in the long run. This study argues for a close relationship between employee behavior and leadership management style, particularly in the context of inadequate management systems in SMEs, which can easily subject employees to direct influence from their leaders. For example, abusive supervision or oppressive practices at the management level can trigger resistance and rebellious behavior among employees, leading them to choose retaliatory actions as a response to the organizational system. This study aims to explore the causal relationship between abusive supervision and retaliation behavior within the system. We aim to clarify the pathway through which abusive supervision triggers retaliation behavior among employees within the system and examine the serial multiple mediating effects of psychological distress and negative emotions as well as the moderating effect of workplace incivility. To validate the hypotheses proposed in this study, a survey was conducted among employees of Chinese SMEs. The data provided by 303 employees were analyzed using SPSS ver. 26.0, AMOS ver. 23.0, and SPSS PROCESS Macro 3.4.1 Model 6. The findings indicate that abusive supervision has an indirect effect on employee retaliation behavior through the serial multiple mediating effects of psychological distress and negative emotions. Workplace incivility moderated the influence of negative emotions on retaliation. This study explored the process by which abusive management triggers retaliative behavior through a serial multiple mediation model, providing theoretical evidence for related research. This study explicitly reveals the process leading to retaliation behavior within the system and presents the differences from previous research. Additionally, this study demonstrates the interactive effect between abusive supervision and incivility through the moderating role of incivility in determining the level of retaliation behavior. Ultimately, this study has pioneering significance in exploring the causes of retaliation behavior within the Chinese SME organizational system and how to prevent the occurrence of retaliation behavior. Introduction: Maintaining politeness is necessary because nurses are fundamentally dedicated to tenderheartedness and veneration in human life. This study aimed to investigate nurses’ experiences regarding workplace hostility. Methodology: A qualitative thematic approach was employed in this study. The researchers used a consolidated criterion for reporting qualitative research (COREQ), a 32-item checklist designed to outline the important aspects of the research team, study methods, context of the study, findings, analysis, and interpretations. The researchers conducted this study in one of Zamboanga City’s hospitals from June to November 2023, with the participants being nursing professionals. The data were analyzed thematically, as outlined by these authors. Results: Three themes stemmed from verbatim reports provided by the respondents; thus, “crossing ethical border” with a subtheme: (a) Disrespect and (b) Positional power; Callous behavior with subtheme such as: (a) putting some worth on it;(b) demoralization; “Upholding professional integrity” had two subthemes namely; “coping after all”; and “perception toward intervention.” Conclusion: Workplace incivility among nurses remains widespread and underscores its negative effects on professional conduct, job satisfaction, and overall well-being. Nurses have resolved and decorum, but recognizing that they need help shows an urgency for studies; hence, there is a need for action plans that will fight rudeness while creating support systems within organizations for each other’s colleagues. This theoretical review explores the intricate relationship between Denison’s organizational culture and worker productivity within the context of municipalities, with a specific focus on workplace incivility as a potential mediator. Denison’s model, encompassing four key cultural traits - involvement, consistency, adaptability, and mission - provides a comprehensive framework for understanding how organizational culture impacts various organizational outcomes. The main goal of this review is to introduce the conceptual model framework that suggests the connections between the dimensions of Denison’s organizational culture and employee productivity as well as workplace incivility. The effect of Denison’s organizational culture on the productivity of municipal workers will be explored. By combining existing theoretical perspectives and empirical evidence, this study aims to offer a comprehensive understanding of how each dimension of Denison’s model interacts with and influences productivity through incivility in the distinct settings of municipal organizations. Furthermore, this review contributes to both theoretical and practical domains by enhancing our understanding of how Denison organizational culture manifests in municipal settings and its subsequent influence on worker productivity. Moreover, it furnishes a comprehensive insight into workplace incivility, presenting theoretical arguments and substantiating evidence. The discourse advocates for the vigilant monitoring, effective management, and elimination of adaptable organizational cultural practices within municipalities. These efforts are proposed to not only mitigate workplace incivility but also foster an environment conducive to heightened employee performance and productivity.

In contemporary workplaces characterized by diverse age groups working collaboratively, the assessment of age discrimination as an interpersonal phenomenon has gained heightened significance. This study focuses on adapting and scrutinizing the psychometric properties of the German iteration of the Workplace Age Discrimination Scale (WADS-G). Comprehensive Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) results affirm a robust fit for the unidimensional model. Convergent validity is established through correlations between WADS-G scores and related instruments, while discriminant validity is evidenced by its lack of association with extraversion. Noteworthy findings include a positive correlation with turnover intention and negative correlations with job satisfaction, occupational self-efficacy, and organizational affective commitment. Despite its merits, the predictive efficacy of the WADS-G is notably inferior when juxtaposed with the Workplace Incivility Scale. Its explanatory power for turnover intention is constrained when accounting for variables such as job satisfaction, work environment, neuroticism, and core self-evaluation. Although measurement invariance testing across gender groups reveals scalar to strict measurement invariance, the examination across age groups indicates metric invariance. However, Confirmatory Factor Analyses for the 18-30 and 50+ age groups, central to the research emphasis, reveal suboptimal model fit. The purpose of the study is to determine the effects of exposure to workplace incivility in institutions on employees' thriving at work. In this context, the effect of workplace incivility on employees' thriving at work is revealed and the role of psychological ownership and organizational identification in this relationship is tried to be determined. The study examines the impact of incivility towards employees' efforts to thriving at work. However, within the framework of the moderator role of psychological ownership in businesses, the relationship between workplace incivility, organizational identification and thriving at work is examined. The population of the research consists of employees of shopping malls in Kütahya. The sample of the study is determined by random sampling method, and data is collected from 324 employees by online survey method. SPSS 23 and AMOS 24 are used in the analysis of the data obtained. Reliability, factor, correlation and regression analyzes are applied within the scope of the study. As a result of the regression analysis, it is determined that incivility in the workplace has a negative and significant effect on employees' thriving at work. Although previous research has shown that supervisor incivility reduces commitment, this study endeavors to address some research gaps regarding 1) the boundary condition of age in the relationship between supervisor incivility and affective commitment and 2) the mediation of two age-related coping strategies (i.e., distraction and reappraisal) by which age can moderate incivility-commitment relationship 3) the relationship between age and the coping strategies. Drawing on socio-emotional selectivity theory, it is argued that, the association between supervisor incivility and commitment is weaker when employees are older. Additionally, it was proposed that the moderating impact of age is mediated by two coping strategies of reappraisal and distraction in a way that older employees, relative to younger employees, would demonstrate an increased tendency for distraction over reappraisal after experiencing incivility. The final sample comprised 287 employees in diverse businesses. The results revealed that higher supervisor incivility was significantly associated with less commitment. Confirming the moderating role of age, this research also showed that the older the employees are, the more distraction (not reappraisal) is used. The purpose of this autoethnography was to contextualize a personal workplace bullying experience in higher education with the intention to promote action and change within higher education policy and practice. The research questions that guided this study were: How do I tell the story of my experience with workplace bullying in higher education? What are the personal and social impacts of my experience with workplace bullying? What strategies did I use to persevere through the workplace bullying experience? Bullying and incivility in higher education contexts persists despite having knowledge of the negative implications and desire of institutions for change. Three themes emerged in this autoethnography: (1) I don't even recognize myself anymore; (2) Reliving past trauma: I thought that part of my life was over; and (3) Coping and Survivor's Guilt. This autoethnography adds to the body of literature surrounding bullying and incivility in the workplace; offers examples of how workplace bullying and incivility impacted a victim's professional and personal life, along with the victim's psychological and physical well-being; and facilitates critical reflection on this experience in order to generate innovative methods to address the prevalence and minimize the impacts of similar experiences in the higher education environments. Workplace events play a significant role in shaping the performance of employees and organizations. Negative events, in particular, require careful attention due to their severe impact on employee wellbeing and performance. Workplace bullying and incivility are two negative events that can cause significant harm to employees and contribute to poor performance. This study examines the effects of workplace bullying and incivility on employee performance in the presence of perceived psychological wellbeing (PWB), with the moderating role of perceived organizational support (POS) considered for both independent variables and employee performance (EP). The study focuses on female nurses working in the healthcare sector of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The results of the study indicate that workplace bullying and incivility have adverse effects on employee performance and that PWB mediates these relationships. Moreover, perceived organizational support moderates the relationship between both predictors and the employee performance criterion. In conclusion, the findings of this study highlight the importance of creating a positive and supportive work environment to mitigate the negative effects of workplace bullying and incivility on employee performance. Purpose: Supervisor phubbing is an increasingly common behavior depicted by supervisors despite the significance of supervisor–subordinate interactions. This study explores the impact of this behavior on workplace incivility and workplace presenteeism and analyzes the mediating role of self-esteem and the moderating role of power distance. Design/methodology/approach: Data were collected from employees belonging to IT sector. The research was cross-sectional in nature and the data were collected using a structured questionnaire. Findings: The findings indicate a significant impact of supervisor phubbing on self-esteem, workplace incivility and workplace presenteeism. Additionally, results reveal the mediating role of self-esteem between supervisor phubbing and workplace presenteeism. However, the moderating effect of power distance on the relationship between supervisor phubbing and self-esteem was not supported. Originality/value: The research contributes to the existing literature and theory, especially in the area of supervisor phubbing and communications management. Purpose: This paper seeks to explore the influence of workplace spirituality on employee behavior within organizational settings. Design: Systems thinking is used to explore various interrelated concepts of workplace spirituality (WPS). This study delves into the intricate interactions between WPS and its impact on employee behavior. By highlighting the significance of WPS, the research establishes a foundation for fostering innovation and creativity, facilitating meaningful connections among employees within organizations. Additionally, WPS plays a crucial role in reducing workplace incivility. Causal Loop Diagrams (CLDs) as part of a systems thinking approach are utilized to visually depict the complex interplay of variables and feedback loops within organizations, offering insights into polarities and presenting a long-term perspective on how spiritual initiatives affect the workplace. Results: The findings indicate that WPS assists employees in comprehending their roles, enhancing productivity, increasing motivation, and fostering job satisfaction. Furthermore, WPS contributes to improved employee engagement, satisfaction, and decision-making. Significance: The research underscores the explicit involvement of employees in achieving favorable outcomes and enhances our understanding of the perceptions held by employers and employees regarding their roles and engagement. The study suggests that enhancing employees' performance is achievable in workplaces where individuals comprehend their roles and align them with the job objectives. Novelty: This paper is unique in two aspects. Firstly, it strives to integrate the fragmented and diverse literature on the outcomes of WPS using a systems thinking approach. Background The Canadian Federal Public Service Workplace Mental Health Strategy (the Strategy) seeks to measure, report, and improve employee psychological health, recognizing the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace (the Standard) as a starting point. The present research introduced a new survey battery for the assessment of employee psychological health as profiles of burnout and work engagement. It also considered a wide range of predictors aligned with the Standard and several outcomes in accordance with the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) Model to support the Strategy. Data and methods A total of 4,781 Statistics Canada employees completed an Employee Wellness Survey in late 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, for a response rate of 58%. Additional sociodemographic variables were linked from human resource databases. Survey weights were applied to adjust for non-response. Results Latent profile analysis uncovered four employee psychological health profiles, ranging from employees who were thriving (15%) to those who were doing well (34%), moving along (38%), or struggling (13%). Job autonomy, role clarity, person-job fit, work-life interference, and workplace incivility--all workplace psychosocial factors aligned with the Standard--were consistently associated with profile membership, as expected, and outcome levels were systematically less favourable from the thriving profile to the struggling profile. Interpretation The results support the validity of the employee psychological health profiles and predictors of profile membership, meeting expectations based on the JD-R literature. Key predictors can serve as metrics to monitor and as targets for workplace interventions designed to improve employee psychological health in support of the Strategy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose - This study examined the influence of mindfulness in its relationship to creativity and work engagement, which could increase proactive service performance and customer satisfaction while reducing the negative impact of customer incivility. Methodology/Design/Approach - The survey was conducted using a snowball system among 260 hotel employees who voluntarily participated. The Partial Least Square (PLS) method was used to analyse the data collected. Findings - This study found a positive impact of mindfulness on employee creativity, proactive service performance, and customer satisfaction. Customer incivility was also found to affects work engagement as a precedent of proactive service performance and as a mediating variable on customer incivility and proactive service performance. In recent years, the concept of despotic leadership has garnered considerable attention in sports. Despotic leadership significantly reflecting leaders' deviant behavior has today heightened the risk of health hazards in the workplace. In addition, the perceived organizational politics have also yielded a deleterious result on employees’ well-being. In the dynamic landscape of healthcare, understanding the implications of organizational behavior on well-being is paramount for risk management. This study elucidates the relationships between despotic leadership, perceived organizational politics, workplace incivility, emotional exhaustion, person-organization unfit, and health harm, which can pose significant risks in a healthcare setting. The quantitative study was conducted using an empirical survey with respondents representing sports organizations. A Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) was used to analyze data from 429 participants using Smart PLS. The study findings suggest that despotic leadership and perceived organizational politics can lead to increased risks, manifested as workplace incivility, emotional exhaustion, and person-organization unfit. These organizational risks subsequently translate to tangible health harm for employees. Mediation analyses revealed that workplace incivility, emotional exhaustion, and person-organization unfit mediate the detrimental health outcomes rooted in leadership and organizational politics. The study underscores the urgent need for risk management strategies to foster a healthier organizational culture and leadership approach in healthcare settings. This will ensure enhanced employee well-being and a reduction in associated health risks, thus aligning with best practices in healthcare policy.

AbstractThe purpose of this study is to investigate whether workplace incivility explains the phenomenon of employee silence behavior in the hospitality sector and how job embeddedness and power distance mediate and moderate this relationship. Data were collected from 359 frontline staff at several hotels and restaurants in Jakarta, Indonesia. The data were analyzed using moderating mediation procedures using the Macro Process. Workplace incivility was negatively related to job embeddedness and positively to employee silence behavior. Job embeddedness was positively associated with employee silence and mediates the relationship between workplace incivility and employee silence. Finally, power distance is directly related to employee silence and moderates the relationship between workplace incivility and employee silence. Hence, the relationship between workplace incivility and employee silence was stronger among employees who perceived higher power distance. The results of this study could be used to guide the management of the hospitality industry. In particular, disrespectful treatment from seniors or supervisors perceived by employees triggers a decrease in job embeddedness and increases silent behavior. Management needs to implement several policies to prevent uncivil actions in the workplace. Moreover, the present study suggests that organizational managers applied special incentives for employees to actively share their information, ideas, and opinions to stimulate employee voice.

The average working person spends between 35 and 60 h a week in the workplace, making it an influential place for mental well-being and a place for socioeconomic contribution. Workplace incivility can diminish positive mental health outcomes and negatively impact work engagement through increased social anxiety. To investigate this, 118 working adults in Singapore aged between 19 to 67 years old were recruited for a survey consisting of demographic questions, the Workplace Incivility Scale, the Brief DSM-5 Social Anxiety Disorder Severity Scale, and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale-9 between November 2022 to April 2023. Correlational, regression, and mediation analysis showed workplace incivility scale scores to significantly predict social anxiety after controlling for covariates. This supports our hypothesis that employees exposed to workplace incivility would have higher social anxiety levels mediating work engagement after controlling for age and gender. The findings here show workplace incivility as a possible intervention target for social anxiety, in order to reduce negative impact on work engagement to improve employee experience and retention for organizations.

Workplace incivility is a challenging global occupational risk that is frequently considered trivial by managers and organizations. Often, complaints from targets are ignored; when this occurs, complaints can quickly escalate into formal grievances that cost businesses millions of dollars. While existing studies have uncovered cultural and gendered differences in how targets and organizations respond to workplace incivility, few cross-cultural studies have empirically examined how targets and organizations react to formal complaints. This study responds to this gap by using selective incivility, the transactional stress model, and national/cultural theories to conduct a multifaceted analysis of the underlying mechanisms responsible for targets’ organizational outcomes. Specifically, we tested a moderated model with 303 Australian (152 males and 151 females) and 304 Singaporean (154 males and 150 females) employees working in multinational organizations to determine whether the degree to which organizations took incivility complaints seriously moderated the organizational outcomes of work withdrawal and work satisfaction. Overall, the results indicated that, compared to Singaporean employees and Australian female employees, Australian male employees were less tolerant of being mistreated and continued to experience heightened job dissatisfaction and withdrawal even when their complaints were taken seriously by their organization. These results suggest that complex gendered and cultural differences influence the impact of incivility complaints on work-related outcomes.

We utilize signaling theory as a foundation for testing ways to decrease reference providers' fear of adverse consequences and increase disclosure of workplace incivility in reference checks. We focus on three reminders–commonly recommended by practitioners–that may be sent to reference providers in the instructions prior to the reference check: reminders of applicant consent, qualified privilege, and confidentiality. 420 supervisors were recruited via Prolific.co to complete a hypothetical reference check for the employee with whom they least like to work. Participants were randomly assigned to one of eight conditions in a two (applicant consent reminder: yes/no) X two (qualified privilege reminder: yes/no) X two (confidentiality reminder: yes/no) between-subjects design. Instructions before the reference check were manipulated in a manner that corresponded to their experimental condition, after which they completed measures of fear and incivility. Results showed no main effects, but two interactions. Applicant consent and qualified privilege interacted in relation to fear of adverse legal consequences, and confidentially and qualified privilege interacted in relation to reports of applicant incivility (p <.10). The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between Passive Leadership variables and Behavioral Incivility, the relationship between Passive Leadership variables and Workplace Incivility and the relationship between Workplace Incivility variables and Behavioral Incivility in Indonesia public organizations. This research belongs to the type of descriptive quantitative research, namely research that aims to explain and explain descriptive information. The subjects taken in this study were 210 employee in Indonesia public organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic which were determined by the random sampling system method. Data was obtained by distributing online questionnaires with a Likert scale of 1 to 7 through social media. The analysis technique used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with data processing tools SmartPLS 3.0 software. The independent variable in this study is Passive Leadership, while the dependent variables are Behavioral Incivility and Workplace Incivility. The increase in the passive leadership variable does not have a significant effect on the behavioral incivility variable. There is a significant effect of passive leadership on workplace incivility in Indonesia public organizations. There is a significant influence between workplace incivility on behavioral inclusivity in Indonesia public organizations.

The data belongs to a sample of 201 frontline workers in Malaysia. This demographic data was collected using a cross-sectional questionnaire via an online survey and analyzed using SPSS version 25. This data was used to investigate the relationship between workplace incivility, emotional exhaustion and adaptive performance (handling emergencies, handling work stress, creative problem solving, learning new tasks, technology and procedure and demonstrating interpersonal adaptability) among frontline workers. The analyzed data will be useful in contributing to further research into the effects of workplace incivility on employees’ well-being and job performance. It will also give insights to stakeholders and those at managerial level who formulate appropriate intervention plans to overcome or reduce the issue of workplace bullying among frontline workers.

Innovative Work Behavior (IWB) of employees is one of the essential requirements for organizations to excel in competition in today's dynamic world. Nowadays, organizations can keep the current pace through competitive advantage. But to acquire competitive advantage, employees must be creative and innovative in their work-related behaviors. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Pakistan are suffering several challenges in this regard. Therefore, current study is designed to examine the role of negative events and negative leadership on the IWB of the employees with mediating role of Psychological Well-being (PsyWB). Further, the moderating role of Perceived Organizational Support (POS) has also been tested. The negative event used in current research is Workplace Incivility (WPI) and Despotic Leadership (DL) from the negative leadership styles examined. Results of the current study showed that the presence of WPI and DL in organizations damage the IWB of employees as they harm the PsyWB of employees. We find that PsyWB mediated the relationship among DL, WPI, and IWB. POS is helpful for employees to overcome the negative issues prevailing in the organizations. The SMEs need to construct policies to eradicate WPI and must discourage despotic personalities to make the environment favorable for employees to protect their IWB. There must be some events that can increase the positive PsyWB of employees to make them more creative and motivated. Likewise, POS must be at sufficient level so that employees feel safe and healthy in all respects.

The quality of the work environment in organizations is undoubtedly important for employees, managers, and employers. In this context, it is desirable to prevent or manage inter-personal conflicts in the organization in a way that will produce positive results as much as possible. To do this, it is important to know and understand the factors that cause conflicts. It can be expected that inadequate determination of the workload levels of employees will cause various undesirable attitudes and behaviors, including conflict, in the organizational environment. In addition, incivility in the workplace may have some negative effects on the work environment and trigger conflicts among people. In this study, perceived workload was examined in order to determine its effect on inter-personal conflict in the workplace, and the mediating role of incivility in this effect was investigated. As a result of the analysis carried out with the SmartPLS 3 program in a sample of white-collar employees working in a company, it was determined that incivility has a full mediating role in the relationship between perceived workload and inter-personal conflict (t: 5.67⟶t: 1.43). The result indicated that Chinese and Vietnamese experienced the same incivility behaviors at works. In addition, males experienced more WI than females. This research is a pioneer cross-cultural study about WI in the Asian context, which investigates the influence of demographic variables on WI in Chinese and Vietnamese working adults. The healthcare workplace is a high-stress environment. All stakeholders, including patients and providers, display evidence of that stress. High stress has several effects. Even acutely, stress can negatively affect cognitive function, worsening diagnostic acumen, decision-making, and problem-solving. It decreases helpfulness. As stress increases, it can progress to burnout and more severe mental health consequences, including depression and suicide. One of the consequences (and causes) of stress is incivility. Both patients and staff can manifest these unkind behaviors, which in turn have been shown to cause medical errors. The human cost of errors is enormous, reflected in thousands of lives impacted every year. The economic cost is also enormous, costing at least several billion dollars annually. The warrant for promoting kindness, therefore, is enormous. Kindness creates positive interpersonal connections, which, in turn, buffers stress and fosters resilience. Kindness, therefore, is not just a nice thing to do: it is critically important in the workplace. Ways to promote kindness, including leadership modeling positive behaviors as well as the deterrence of negative behaviors, are essential. A new approach using kindness media is described. Workplace incivility is a well-known problem that affects every firm and its environment. Employee engagement may result in physical and mental suffering, impacting how well people perform. The study aims to ascertain the relationship between employee engagement, employee performance, and workplace incivility. For this, scales of the investigated variables were used to build a well -structured questionnaire. The survey questionnaire was sent out to workers and employees of Health Care Institutions. There were 212 valid responses in total. SEM, or structural equation modelling, was utilized to establish relationships. The study's findings rejected hypotheses H1 and H2 showing workplace incivility (WPI) has a detrimental effect on employee engagement (EENG) (at ß= - 0.34, P >.05) and employee performance (EP) (at ß = -0.27, P >.05). While the hypothesis that employee engagement positively affects employee performance (H3) shows that employee engagement had a favourable impact on the performance of employees. Abstract Background The aim of the present study is to explore whether (experienced and witnessed) workplace incivility is a risk factor for (experienced and witnessed) workplace bullying. An additional aim is to explore whether experienced workplace incivility is associated with psychological well-being above and beyond the influence of (experienced and witnessed) workplace bullying on well-being. Methods A survey was distributed via e-mail to a panel of Swedish engineers. The survey was administered at three time points over one year. In total, N = 1005 engineers responded to the survey. Of these, N = 341 responded to more than one survey, providing longitudinal data. N = 111 responded to all three surveys. Results The results showed that the likelihood of being targeted by workplace bullying was higher for those who had previously experienced incivility, even when taking previous bullying exposure into account. There was also partial support for a higher likelihood of witnessing bullying at a later time point for those that had previously witnessed incivility. Additionally, the results showed that experienced workplace incivility was negatively related to psychological well-being over time, even when controlling for previous levels of experienced and witnessed workplace bullying and well-being. However, this result was only found over one of the two time lags. Conclusion The findings of the present study suggests that workplace incivility can be a risk factor for future bullying. In addition, the findings suggest that experienced workplace incivility exerts a unique negative effect on psychological well-being, even when accounting for exposure to workplace bullying.

Based on the literature review, the article presents the systematization of antecedents and effects of workplace incivility. Variables contributing to deviant workplace behaviour (antecedents) are placed within three categories: dispositional, behavioural, and contextual. Dispositional antecedents, which include characteristics of targets (certain demographic characteristics and personality traits) and characteristics of instigators (position and power, attributes, attitudes, and certain personality traits), are presented. After that, behavioural antecedents of targets (such as counterproductive work behaviour, annoying or provocative behaviour, etc.) and instigators (inappropriate conflict management style, "workaholism", response to negative emotions, etc.) are stated. Furtherly, contextual antecedents that are divided into organizationally-based (organizational change and downsizing, hierarchy and autocracy, lack of organizational justice, inadequate organizational culture and climate, certain negative aspects of e-communication, etc.), and work-based antecedents (job design issues, inappropriate working conditions, performance pressure, etc.) are explained at the end. Finally, negative consequences of workplace incivility on employees and the organization are presented. The article ends with the concluding remarks, the implication of the research, and suggestions for future studies.

Data were analyzed through the Second Synthetic Grey Relational Analysis (SSGRA) and the Regression Analysis.Results: We found that workplace incivility and thriving are negatively associated, whereas prosocial motivation positively influenced thriving. We also found the moderating impact of emotional exhaustion on the associations of workplace incivility-thriving and prosocial motivation-thriving. Both SSGRA and Regression Analysis revealed that the impact of prosocial motivation on thriving is more significant than that of workplace incivility, and moderation can also be found significant.Conclusion: The study suggests that a suitable work environment, appropriate training, and guidance encourage emotional stability and improve prosocial motivation. The research attempts to explore the effects of two-dimensional cyber incivility on employee well-being. Based on self-determination theory and regulatory focus theory, we conducted two studies to examine the mediating role of intrinsic motivation and the moderating role of promotion focus between cyber incivility and emotional exhaustion. The results demonstrated that both active and passive cyber incivility predicted increased emotional exhaustion, with intrinsic motivation serving as a key mediator. There was no consistent conclusion of promotion focus’s moderating role. High promotion focus might aggravate the negative effect of passive cyber incivility on intrinsic motivation. The present article provides deeper step towards understanding of cyber incivility, which also helps in the development of intervention strategies to lessen or avoid the negative impact of work-related stressful events on employee well-being. The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of despotic leadership and workplace incivility on turnover intention among nurses in Punjab, Pakistan, by mediating the effect of work-family conflict. 573 questionnaires were distributed to nurses in Punjab, Pakistan's healthcare sector. SPSS was used to analyze the data, and Smart PLS was used to evaluate the model. The findings of the study reveal that despotic leadership and workplace incivility directly increase turnover intention. The independent variables were positively and negatively correlated with intent to leave the organization. The mediating effect of work-family conflict between despotic leadership and turnover intention was not supported. The study also examines how despotic leadership and workplace incivility affect work-family conflict, which has not been extensively studied. This paper aims to analyze job insecurity (JIS)'s effect on employee incivility by mediating the role of moral disengagement (MD) and the moderating role of coaching behavior in the casino sector. Data was collected from 542 casino employees in Northern Cyprus. The study showed that casino employees' MD mediated the association between JIS and employee incivility. Additionally, coaching behavior moderated the path of this mediated link. Due to the limited endeavors on the hypothesized relationships, the research contributes to the literature and industry. Incivility in the workplace, school and political system in the United States has permeated mass and social media in recent years and has also been recognized as a detrimental factor in medical education. In this scoping review, we use the term incivility to encompass a spectrum of behaviors that occur across the continuum of medical education, and which include verbal abuse including rude or dismissive conduct, sexual and racial harassment and discrimination, and sexual and physical assault. We identified research on incivility involving medical students, residents and fellows, and faculty in North America to describe multiple aspects of incivility in medical education settings published since 2000. Our results reinforce that incivility is likely under-reported across the continuum of medical education and also confirmed incidences of incivility involving nursing personnel and patients, not emphasized in previous reviews. The existing literature overemphasizes the negative effects of customer incivility on service employees. However, the positive effects of customer incivility on employee behavior are rarely mentioned. Drawing on affective events theory and attribution theory, we used a moderated dual-mediator causal model to explore the effect of customer incivility on employees' revenge behavior and customer-oriented behavior through hostility and guilt, and the moderating role of customer blame attribution. An empirical study with a sample of 366 employee-supervisor pairs and two-wave, two-source data indicated that customer incivility positively impacts revenge behavior via employees' hostility, and this relationship is reinforced by customer blame attribution. In contrast, customer incivility positively impacts customer oriented behavior via employees' guilt, and this relationship is weakened by customer blame attribution. This study expanded the literature on customer incivility and emotion, and provided significant practical implications for organization on how to help frontline employees deal with customer incivility. Workplace Incivility (WPI) has recently become a dominant area of research as a predictor of employee behavior at work. WPI is a menace in the workplace that creates dissatisfied employees who spend most of their time on non-productive tasks. Based on a sample of 504 employees of public and private sector institutions in The Gambia and Ghana, this article examines the impact of workplace incivility on employee counterproductive work behavior through the mediating role of Turnover Intention (TI). Using structural equation modeling, the results indicate a strong relationship between workplace incivility and Counterproductive Work Behavior (CWB) as well as a partial mediating role of TI in the relationship between WPI and CWB. Furthermore, the independent sample t-test and multigroup analysis show a higher level of WPI, TI, and CWB in Ghana compared to The Gambia. These findings contribute to the under-researched area of WPI on the African continent. This study also adds value to the existing, but sparse, literature on workplace incivility and may also be used as a guide for public and private institutions in their pursuit of avoiding workplace incivility as well as knowing its effects on institutional productivity. Finally, this study is the first of its kind to look at the existence of WPI in both public and private institutions from The Gambia and Ghana making country comparisons as well as looking at the impact of WPI on the performance of employees hence its relevance to the literature. Employee performance is the backbone of achieving competitiveness and sustainability. This study aims to examine the impact of workplace incivility on employee performance. In addition, trust in supervisors is examined as a mediator. The conservation of resources (COR) theory and Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory provided the grounds for developing the framework. The data were collected through closed-ended questionnaires and were analyzed using structural equation modeling with SmartPLS. The results affirmed that incivility is harmful to the performance of employees, and that trust in supervisors helps employees to perform well. The trust in the supervisor significantly mediates the incivility–performance relationship. The examination of the proposed model through the lens of two theories as well as the study of low-intensity deviant workplace behavior in a collectivist and developing economy are the contributions of this study to the growing body of literature. Extant research has documented the role of workplace-related factors in eliciting uncivil employee behaviors in the workplace, while the role of family-related variables has been largely overlooked. Drawing on the work-home resources model and the conservation of resources theory, the present study attempts to bridge this gap in the literature by exploring the relationship between family incivility and instigation of incivility towards subordinates in the workplace. In addition, this study examines the intervening role of family emotional exhaustion and the buffering role of mindfulness and LMX within the proposed relationship. Results based on time-lagged survey data collected from 282 supervisor-subordinate dyads indicate that family emotional exhaustion mediates the relationship between family incivility and instigated workplace incivility. Results also indicate that mindfulness weakens the impact of family incivility on family emotional exhaustion, while LMX dampens the impact of family emotional exhaustion on instigated workplace incivility. Further, results suggest that mindfulness and LMX together mitigate the overall impact of family incivility on instigated workplace incivility through family emotional exhaustion. This study is an attempt to explore the spillover effects of family-related variables on uncivil employee behaviors in the workplace. Additionally, this study offers new insights with respect to the boundary conditions that may help to alleviate the ramifications of family incivility in the workplace.
