Background and Objectives: Greater lifetime exposure to psychological trauma correlates with a higher number of health comorbidities and negative health outcomes. However, physicians often are not specifically trained in how to care for patients with trauma, especially in acute care settings. Our objective was to identify implemented trauma-informed care (TIC) training protocols for emergency and/or trauma service physicians that have both sufficient detail that they can be adapted and outcome data indicating positive impact.Methods: We conducted a comprehensive literature search in MEDLINE (Ovid), Scopus, PsycInfo, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Ebsco’s Academic Search Premier, and MedEdPORTAL. Inclusion criteria were EM and trauma service clinicians (medical doctors, physician assistants and nurse practitioners, residents), adult and/or pediatric patients, and training evaluation. Evaluation was based on the Kirkpatrick Model.Results: We screened 2,280 unique articles and identified two different training protocols. Results demonstrated the training included patient-centered communication and interprofessional collaboration. One curriculum demonstrated that targeted outcomes were due to the training (Level 4). Both curricula received overall positive reactions (Level 1) and illustrated behavioral change (Level 3). Neither were found to specifically illustrate learning due to the training (Level 2).Conclusion: Study findings from our review show a paucity of published TIC training protocols that demonstrate positive impact and are described sufficiently to be adopted broadly. Current training protocols demonstrated an increasing comfort level with the TIC approach, integration into current practices, and referrals to trauma intervention specialists.

Background: Exposure to domestic and family violence is a pervasive form of complex trauma and a major global public health problem. At the frontline of the health system, primary healthcare practitioners are uniquely placed to support individuals with experiences of trauma, yet their views on trauma-informed primary care are not well understood. This systematic review of qualitative literature sought to explore primary healthcare practitioners' perspectives on trauma-informed primary care. Methods: Eight databases were searched up to July 2023. Studies were included if they consisted of empirical qualitative data, were conducted in general practice or equivalent generalist primary healthcare settings, and included the perspectives of primary healthcare practitioners where they could be distinguished from other participants in the analysis. Thematic synthesis was used for analysis. Results: 13 papers met inclusion criteria, representing primary care settings from the United States, Canada, Australia, and Norway. Three key themes were developed: Changing the paradigm, Building trust, and Navigating the emotional load. Findings shed light on how primary healthcare practitioners perceive and strive to practise trauma-informed primary healthcare and the challenges of navigating complex, trauma-related work in the primary care environment. Conclusions: This review supports the need for recognition of the value of primary care in supporting patients with histories of trauma and violence, the development of interventions to mitigate the emotional load worn by primary healthcare practitioners, and further work to develop a deep and consistent understanding of what trauma-informed primary care encompasses. Background: Women in the sex trade encounter significant challenges in obtaining reproductive healthcare. Reports of reproductive healthcare for women in the sex trade center on the prevention and termination of pregnancies, yet most women in the sex trade globally experience full term pregnancies and bear children. This study aimed to explore barriers and enabling factors to providing reproductive healthcare for women in the sex trade in Israel. Methods: We conducted a qualitative study utilizing a grounded theory method. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, conducted between June 2021 and July 2022. Interviews were conducted with practitioners in healthcare settings (n = 20), practitioners in social services settings (n = 15), and women in the sex trade who received reproductive health care-related medical services (n = 13) in Israel. The interviews were audiotaped, transcribed, and thematically analyzed. Results: The findings indicated a multilayered structure of healthcare system-related factors and women-related factors. Stigma was noted as a multidimensional barrier, reflected in service providers' attitude towards women in the sex trade, impairing the patient-provider relationship and impeding women's help-seeking. However, the creation of a relationship of trust between the women and healthcare providers enabled better health outcomes. Conclusions: Based on the findings, we propose recommendations for designing and implementing reproductive healthcare services for women in the sex trade. The recommendations offer to (a) include women with lived experiences in planning and providing reproductive healthcare services, (b) adopt a trauma-informed approach, (c) emphasize nonjudgmental care, (d) train healthcare providers to reduce stigma and bias, and (e) enhance the affordability of health services for women experiencing marginalization. AIM This research aimed to uncover elements of a comprehensive, trauma-informed (TI) multidisciplinary health professions simulation framework to improve the delivery of care to traumatized patients. BACKGROUND Trauma is a pervasive public health problem requiring a TI approach. Simulation is an evidence-based teaching strategy that advances knowledge and clinical reasoning. There is a lack of scientifically based simulation education models addressing the delivery of TI care for the health professions. METHOD A Delphi study utilizing a panel of experts was conducted to identify the most critical elements of a simulation framework. RESULTS Phase one identified 10 content areas and 111 subcontent areas. Phase two analysis revealed 99 percent of the 111 subcontent areas achieved expert consensus. CONCLUSION This Delphi study provides the first scientifically based framework to guide the development of a comprehensive, TI, multidisciplinary simulation framework to recognize trauma survivors and subsequently display concern and respect. Child maltreatment affects millions globally across all economic levels. Despite its prevalence, comparative research and internationally comparable data are limited due to varied definitions, methodologies, and reporting systems. This narrative review aims to compare child maltreatment trends in the U.S. and Japan, highlighting the roles of sociocultural factors. Through a literature review and analysis of national data since 1990, the study estimates maltreatment and fatality rates in both countries. Findings suggest an increase in Japan's reported maltreatment cases, likely attributable to legislative changes and heightened public awareness, while the U.S. appears to show a decline, potentially linked to improved mental health services and socioeconomic advancements. In both nations, mothers are predominantly identified as perpetrators, with sociocultural factors influencing maltreatment types and rates. Japan faces challenges in accurately measuring maltreatment due to reporting inconsistencies and mental health stigma. Despite a higher victimization rate, Japan reports significantly fewer fatalities than the U.S., with the fatality rate in the U.S. being approximately 9 times higher than in Japan. This contrast underscores the critical role of healthcare access and mental health support. The review advocates for international efforts to standardize maltreatment definitions and reporting, suggesting the adoption of trauma-informed care and comprehensive healthcare access as effective strategies. The adoption of trauma-informed practices in schools is a significant and growing area of school reform efforts. It has been assumed that professional development aimed at influencing teacher attitudes toward trauma-informed care in schools is an important first step in adopting trauma-informed practices and improving student and school outcomes. However, there are gaps in the literature assessing the impact of trauma-informed professional development on teacher attitudes toward trauma-informed care, and there is little evidence linking changes in teacher attitudes to changes in practices. This exploratory study assessed teacher responses to a year-long pilot program providing intensive professional development and consultation on trauma-informed practices in one urban elementary school in the U.S. Southwest. The integration of trauma-informed and ethical frameworks in qualitative research concerning survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) within displaced communities is critical. These individuals often bear the weight of traumatic experiences compounded by displacement and associated hardships. Adopting a trauma-informed approach establishes a safe environment, prioritizing survivors' well-being and respecting their agency and narratives, thereby fostering trust and reducing re-traumatization risks. Ethical considerations ensure the dignity, rights, and cultural sensitivities of participants are upheld, contributing to rigorous and humane research. This integration amplifies survivors' voices and experiences, enhancing understanding and empathy. Trauma-informed approaches acknowledge the likelihood of trauma in individuals' lives and prioritize safety without aiming to treat symptoms. Proficient interviewing skills aim to improve comfort, safety, and recall without avoiding challenging questions. Integration of trauma-informed principles across all interview phases is crucial, particularly for individuals experiencing various traumas simultaneously, such as displacement, violence, and ongoing conflict. Drawing from the authors' experiences and existing literature, this paper advocates for a compassionate and empowering shift in qualitative research methodologies to better engage with survivors of trauma and GBV within displaced communities. We introduce the idea of Reflections as a “way station” for authors and readers on an increasingly rapid journey of professional helping where making the space to reflect is absolutely critical, and yet, actually grasping the time and savoring the moment is challenging. We are excited to highlight eight articles that offer insights about self-care and strategies for facilitating opportunities for change in practice and educational arenas as well as remind us of the importance of balancing the multiple and many demand in our lives. Given the potential for retraumatization among survivors of sexual violence engaged in research, we aimed to provide pertinent knowledge and exemplification of the integration of trauma-informed practice to research with survivors. Grounded in trauma-informed care, we discuss the need for trauma-informed research, drawing upon experiences and data from a longitudinal case-control study on sexual violence. Through trauma-informed research settings, we can improve research experiences for survivors of sexual violence, as demonstrated by positive experiences of participants in The THRIVE Study. By meeting the needs of survivors, researchers can increase participation while maximizing the research quality and advancement of research.

The lived experiences of marginalised consumers are relatively absent in the marketing canon. In this article, we propose layering a trauma-informed approach onto the qualitative research methodologies of depth-interviewing and collaging to enhance the voices of marginalised consumers. Although marketing researchers are trained to consider potential risks to research participants, little formal guidance exists on how to negotiate the research space when the phenomenon of interest involves or intersects with consumer marginalisation. Application of a trauma-informed approach (TIA) not only offers a path toward effective methodologies to better understand the lived experiences of marginalised consumers, but also provides a method to amplify their voices. Adopting a TIA approach ensuring informants' physical and emotional safety can build trust, engage informants in the research process, and encourage open, honest responses among marginalised consumers who often feel disenfranchised in the marketplace. Abstract Background The incidence of neonatal opiate withdrawal syndrome (NOWS) in the US has grown dramatically over the past two decades. Many rural hospitals not equipped to manage these patients transfer them to hospitals in bigger cities. Methods We created a curriculum, the NOWS-NM Program, a web-based curriculum training in best practices. To evaluate the curriculum, we conducted pre- and post-surveys of NOWS knowledge, attitudes, and care practices, plus post-curriculum interviews and focus groups. Results Fourteen participants completed both pre- and post-curriculum surveys. They indicated an increase in knowledge and care practices. A small number of respondents expressed negative attitudes about parents of infants with NOWS at pre-test, the training curriculum appeared to have no impact on such attitudes at post-test. Sixteen participants participated in focus groups or interviews. Qualitative data reinforced the positive quantitative results and contradicted the negative survey results, respondents reported that the program did reduce stigma and improve provider/staff interactions with patients. Conclusions This curriculum demonstrated positive impacts on NOWS knowledge and care practices. Incorporating focus on core concepts of trauma-informed care and self-regulation in future iterations of the curriculum may strengthen the opportunity to change attitudes and address the needs expressed by participants and improve care of families and babies with NOWS.

Traumatic experiences can have long-lasting negative effects on individuals, organizations, and societies. If trauma is not addressed, it can create unsafe cultures with constant arousal, untrusting relationships, and the use of coercive measures. Trauma-informed care (TIC) can play a central role in mitigating these negative consequences, but it is unknown how and in which way(s) TIC should be implemented. Our objective was to conduct a scoping review that systematically explored and mapped research conducted in this area and to identify existing knowledge about the implementation of TIC. The search was conducted on the CINAHL, Cochrane, Embase, ERIC, Medline, PsycINFO, and Web of Science databases, and more than 3000 empirical papers, published between 2000 and 2022, were identified. Following further screening, we included 157 papers in our review, which were mainly from the USA, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, focusing on study settings, methodologies, and definitions of TIC, as well as the types of interventions and measures used. This review shows that TIC is a complex and multifaceted framework, with no overarching structure or clear theoretical underpinnings that can guide practical implementations. TIC has been defined and adapted in varied ways across different settings and populations, making it difficult to synthesize knowledge. A higher level of agreement on how to operationalize and implement TIC in international research could be important in order to better examine its impact and broaden the approach. Background: COVID-19 impacted the mental health of healthcare workers, who endured pressures as they provided care during a prolonged crisis. We aimed to explore whether and how a Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) approach was reflected in qualitative perspectives from healthcare leaders of their experience during COVID-19 (2020–2021). Methods: Semi-structured interviews with healthcare leaders from four institutions were conducted. Data analysis consisted of four stages informed by interpretative phenomenological analysis: 1) deductive coding using TIC assumptions, 2) inductive thematic analysis of coded excerpts, 3) keyword-in-context coding of full transcripts for 6 TIC principles with integration into prior inductive themes, and 4) interpretation of themes through 6 TIC principles (safety; trustworthiness and transparency; peer support; collaboration and mutuality; empowerment, voice, and choice; and awareness of cultural, historical, and gender issues). Results: The actions of leaders (n = 28) that were reported as successful and supportive responses to the COVID-19 pandemic or else missed opportunities reflected core principles of Trauma-Informed Care. To promote safety, leaders reported affirmative efforts to protect staff by providing appropriate physical protection, and enhanced psychological safety by providing channels for communication about emotional well-being. To promote trustworthiness and transparency, leaders listened to their staff, shared current COVID-19 information, and increased frequency of meetings to disseminate accurate information. To promote mutual support, strategies included wellness check-ins, sharing uplifting stories, affirming common goals, articulating fears, and leading by example. Examples of empowerment included: making time and adjusting modalities for flexible communication; naming challenges outside of the hospital; and functioning as a channel for complaints. Reported missed opportunities included needing more dedicated time and space for healthcare employees to process emotions, failures in leadership managing their own anxiety, and needing better support for middle managers. Awareness of the TIC principle of cultural, historical, and gender issues was largely absent. Results informed the nascent Trauma-Informed Healthcare Leadership (TIHL) framework. Conclusions: We propose the Trauma-Informed Healthcare Leadership framework as a useful schema for action and analysis. This approach yields recommendations for healthcare leaders including creating designated spaces for emotional processing, and establishing consistent check-ins that reference personal and professional well-being. Results support the effectiveness of the curriculum to increase competence of rural providers in the care of patients with NOWS. The NOWS-NM Program is a novel and effective mobile training tool that can easily be accessed by under-resourced, rural hospital providers using an internet-connected device such as a smart phone, laptop or tablet. IntroductionThe well-being of trauma-affected children and youth in residential care settings is contingent upon the well-being of the workers who care for them, who are increasingly expected to provide care in a trauma-informed manner. The well-being of residential care workers (RCWs) may be impacted by their own histories of adversity, their capacity individually and collectively to navigate to resources that sustain their well-being (resilience), and current perceptions of their professional quality of life.ObjectiveThis study aimed to fill a research gap by canvassing the perspectives of RCWs to determine what and how they need to be supported in their work. We sought to better understand what personal (adverse childhood experiences, resilience) and professional (compassion satisfaction, burnout, secondary traumatic stress) experiences and capacities they bring into their work that might impact the quality of care they provide to children and youth.MethodA sample of 226 residential care workers from four residential care organizations across three Canadian provinces completed a self-report questionnaire to provide a portrait of their history of adverse childhood experiences as measured by the ACE questionnaire, which included two additional questions reflecting the more nuanced and expanded understanding of potential adversity in childhood in the Canadian context; their resilience, as measured by the Adult Resilience Measure; and compassion satisfaction, burnout, and secondary traumatic stress, as measured by the Professional Quality of Life Measure. Mediation was conducted to examine whether and how resilience mediated the relationship between ACEs and professional quality of life indicators.Results(1) RCWs reported experiencing ACEs at rates much higher than general population and norm samples, especially regarding the experience of 4–5+ ACEs, known to be a threshold for increased severity in negative outcomes; (2) RCWs experienced levels of resilience and indicators of professional quality of life similar to those in other human services professions serving trauma-impacted individuals; and (3) RCW resilience significantly mediated the relationship between ACEs and compassion satisfaction, burnout, and secondary traumatic stress, and had a significant total effect for the relationship between ACEs and secondary traumatic stress. These results suggest the importance of enhancing RCW resilience in multiple ways, mainly in their professional contexts. Recommendations for resilience enhancement and suggestions for future research are provided.

This qualitative thematic study aimed to examine the placement of unaccompanied asylum-seeking minors in compulsory institutional care in Sweden, to expand knowledge regarding their care and treatment. The dataset comprised official documents and anonymized journal documents from personnel detailing the experiences of twenty-five unaccompanied asylum-seeking minors in compulsory institutional care organized by the Swedish National Board of Institutional Care in 2015. The study identified three main themes: traumatic life events and mental health, alignment between needs, goals, and treatment, and language difficulties. The findings revealed a high prevalence of severe traumatic experiences among the asylum-seeking minors, with half having endured significant psychological and physical trauma. Mental health issues were inconsistently addressed, and prior traumas were often overlooked in care planning. The majority exhibited various mental health problems, underscoring the need for tailored interventions. The study highlights challenges in aligning unaccompanied asylum-seeking minors' individual needs, treatment goals, and provided care. Language barriers emerged as a critical concern, impeding effective communication and treatment. Approximately 80% of the asylum-seeking minors experienced difficulties in understanding and expressing themselves in Swedish. The limited use of professional interpreters further exacerbated this issue. The study underscores the need for targeted interventions to better support unaccompanied asylum-seeking minors within compulsory institutional settings.

Introduction: Emergency departments (ED) provide trauma-informed care to sexual assault (SA) survivors and connect them with comprehensive services. Through surveying SA survivor advocates, we aimed to 1) document updated trends in the quality of care and resources offered to SA survivors and 2) identify potential disparities according to geographic regions in the US, urban vs rural clinic locations, and the availability of sexual assault nurse examiners (SANE).Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study between June-August 2021, surveying SA advocates who were dispatched from rape crisis centers to support survivors during ED care. Survey questions addressed two major themes in quality of care: staff preparedness to provide trauma-response care; and available resources. Staff preparedness to provide trauma-informed care was assessed through observations of staff behaviors. We used Wilcoxon rank-sum and Kruskal-Wallis tests to analyze differences in responses according to geographic regions and SANE presence.Results: A total of 315 advocates from 99 crisis centers completed the survey. The survey had a participation rate of 88.7% and a completion rate of 87.9%. Advocates who indicated that a higher proportion of their cases were attended by SANEs were more likely to report higher rates of trauma-informed staff behaviors. For example, the recalled rate of staff asking patients for consent at every step of the exam was significantly associated with SANE presence (P < 0.001). With respect to access to resources, 66.7% of advocates reported that hospitals often or always have evidence collection kits available; 30.6% reported that resources such as transportation and housing are often or always available, and 55.3% reported that SANEs are often or always part of the care team. The SANEs were reported to be more frequently available in the Southwest than in other US regions (P < 0.001) and in urban as opposed to rural areas (P < 0.001).Conclusion: Our study indicates that support from sexual assault nurse examiners is highly associated with trauma-informed staff behaviors and comprehensive resources. Urban-rural and regional disparities exist regarding access to SANEs, suggesting that elevating nationwide quality and equity in care of survivors of sexual assault requires increased investments in SANE training and coverage.

Abstract The effects of trauma are becoming more prevalent in the clinical setting, which has helped generate conversations about being more trauma-informed and providing trauma-informed care services. The principles centered around trauma-informed care could be applied to a person’s everyday life, including the work setting with the goal of creating a more trauma-informed environment for all employees. This qualitative descriptive phenomenological study aimed to investigate what trauma-informed care principles are needed in the workplace from the employee perspective to create a more trauma-informed environment. The survey instrument used in this study was a modified version of Fallot and Harris’s (2011) consumer satisfaction survey in their published article Creating Cultures of Trauma-Informed Care: A Self-Assessment and Planning Protocol. The instrument contained 13 questions, with each core question having an optional secondary question requesting additional details about the participants’ responses. The tool was categorized into four sections: safety, trustworthiness, choice and collaboration, and empowerment. Ninety participants accessed the survey through SurveyMonkey Audience, but four did not meet the criteria to participate and exited the study. The researcher was left with 86 completed surveys. The qualitative analytical tool Quirkos was employed to help analyze the data and generate themes. The category that produced the most themes was empowerment. Employees want to be viewed as a person rather than a resource to get the job done. Likewise, participants wanted to be valued and have their voices heard. To push this conversation forward, future researchers should conduct interviews face-to-face to produce more in-depth findings.

Abstract Background The number of older people experiencing homelessness in Australia is rising, yet there is a lack of specialised residential care for older people subject to homelessness with high care and palliative needs. To address this significant gap, a purpose-built care home was recently opened in Sydney, Australia. Methods This qualitative study explores the experiences of both residents and staff who were living and working in the home over the first twelve months since its opening. Residents were interviewed at baseline (n = 32) and after six months (n = 22), while staff (n = 13) were interviewed after twelve months. Interviews were analysed using a reflexive thematic analysis approach informed by grounded theory. Results Three main themes emerged: (1) Challenges in providing care for older people subject to homelessness with high care needs; (2) Defining a residential care service that supports older people subject to homelessness with high care needs, and (3) Perception of the impact of living and working in a purpose-built care home after six months (residents) and twelve months (staff) since its opening. A key finding was that of the complex interplay between resident dependency and behaviours, referral pathways and stakeholder engagement, government funding models and requirements, staff training and wellbeing, and the need to meet operational viability. Conclusion This study provides novel insights into how the lives of older people subject to homelessness with high care needs are affected by living in a specifically designed care home, and on some of the challenges faced and solved by staff working in the care home. A significant gap in the healthcare system remains when it comes to the effective provision of high care for older people subject to homelessness.

Abstract Introduction Premenstrual symptoms encompass a range of physical, emotional, and behavioral changes that cyclically occur before menstruation. Childhood abuse has been associated with subsequent mental health challenges, yet its relationship with exacerbating premenstrual symptoms remains an understudied area. Furthermore, suicidal ideation often emerges from traumatic backgrounds such as child abuse, creating another layer of complexity. Given the rising suicide rates in Lebanon, and the concurrent increase in reported child abuse cases, this research focuses on the role of suicidal ideation as a mediator between child abuse and premenstrual syndrome. Methods This cross-sectional study involved 915 female university students in Lebanon. Background: 22q11 Deletion Syndrome (22q11DS) is the most common microdeletion syndrome with broad phenotypic variability, leading to significant morbidity and some mortality. The varied health problems associated with 22q11DS and the evolving phenotype (both medical and developmental/behavioural) across the lifespan can strongly impact the mental health of patients as well as their caregivers. Like caregivers of children with other chronic diseases, caregivers of children with 22q11DS may experience an increased risk of traumatisation and mental health symptoms.Objective: The study’s primary objective was to assess the frequency of traumatic experiences and mental health symptoms among mothers of children with 22q11DS. The secondary objective was to compare their traumatic experiences to those of mothers of children with other neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs).Method: A total of 71 mothers of children diagnosed with 22q11DS completed an online survey about their mental health symptoms and traumatic experiences. Descriptive statistics were used to summarise the prevalence of their mental health symptoms and traumatic experiences. Logistic regression models were run to compare the traumatic experiences of mothers of children with 22q11DS to those of 335 mothers of children with other neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs).Results: Many mothers of children with 22q11DS experienced clinically significant mental health symptoms, including depression (39%), anxiety (25%), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms (30%). The types of traumatic events experienced by mothers of children with 22q11DS differed from those of mothers of children with other NDDs as they were more likely to observe their child undergoing a medical procedure, a life-threatening surgery, or have been with their child in the intensive care unit.Conclusion: 22q11DS caregivers are likely to require mental health support and trauma-informed care, tailored to the specific needs of this population as they experience different kinds of traumatic events compared to caregivers of children with other NDDS.

AimThis paper proposes a novel, trauma-informed, conceptual model of care for Post-Acute Sequelae of COVID-19 illness (PASC).DesignThis paper describes essential elements, linkages and dimensions of the model that affect PASC patient experiences and the potential impact of trauma-informed care on outcomes.Data sourcesPASC is a consequence of the global pandemic, and a new disease of which little is known. Our model was derived from the limited available studies, expert clinical experience specific to PASC survivors and publicly available social media narratives authored by PASC survivors.Implications for nursingThe model provides a critical and novel framework for the understanding and care of persons affected by PASC. This model is aimed at the provision of nursing care, with the intention of reducing the traumatic impacts of the uncertain course of this disease, a lack of defined treatment options and difficulties in seeking care. The use of a trauma-informed care approach to PASC patients can enhance nurses' ability to remediate and ameliorate both the traumatic burden of and the symptoms and experience of the illness.ConclusionApplying a trauma-informed perspective to care of PASC patients can help to reduce the overall burden of this complex condition. Owing to the fundamentally holistic perspective of the nursing profession, nurses are best positioned to implement care that addresses multiple facets of the PASC experience.ImpactThe proposed model specifically addresses the myriad ways in which PASC may affect physical as well as mental and psychosocial dimensions of health. The effects of trauma are becoming more prevalent in the clinical setting, which has helped generate conversations about being more trauma-informed and providing trauma-informed care services. The principles centered around trauma-informed care could be applied to a person's everyday life, including the work setting with the goal of creating a more trauma-informed environment for all employees. This qualitative descriptive phenomenological study aimed to investigate what trauma-informed care principles are needed in the workplace from the employee perspective to create a more trauma-informed environment. The survey instrument used in this study was a modified version of Fallot and Harris's (2011) consumer satisfaction survey in their published article Creating Cultures of Trauma-Informed Care: A Self-Assessment and Planning Protocol. The instrument contained 13 questions, with each core question having an optional secondary question requesting additional details about the participants' responses. The tool was categorized into four sections: safety, trustworthiness, choice and collaboration, and empowerment. Ninety participants accessed the survey through SurveyMonkey Audience, but four did not meet the criteria to participate and exited the study. The researcher was left with 86 completed surveys. The qualitative analytical tool Quirkos was employed to help analyze the data and generate themes. The category that produced the most themes was empowerment. Employees want to be viewed as a person rather than a resource to get the job done. Likewise, participants wanted to be valued and have their voices heard. INTRODUCTION: Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are strongly correlated with many of the most common causes of preventable illness, preventable death, and health disparities. In January 2020, California launched the first statewide initiative to integrate ACE screening throughout its Medicaid system. A key element of the initiative was the California ACEs Learning and Quality Improvement Collaborative, a 48-clinic, 16-month learning collaborative. This evaluation aimed to determine whether developing a trauma-informed environment of care was associated with uptake of ACE screening. METHODS: Participants included 40 of 48 clinics that participated in the statewide learning collaborative. Clinics completed an assessment of progress in 5 essential components of trauma-informed health care at baseline and 1-year follow-up. Clinics tracked data on ACE screens completed on an ongoing basis and submitted data quarterly. A hierarchical linear model was used to examine the association between change in readiness for trauma-informed health care and change in quarterly screens. RESULTS: Readiness for trauma-informed health care increased for all participating clinics over the course of the learning collaborative. The average number of quarterly screens also increased, with considerable variability among clinics. Clinics with larger increases in readiness for trauma-informed health care had larger increases in quarterly screens. DISCUSSION: The findings align with long-standing recommendations for trauma screening to occur in the context of trauma-informed environments of care. CONCLUSION: A trauma-informed clinic is the foundation for successful adoption of ACE screening. PURPOSE: Given the ubiquity of traumatic exposures and the profound impact of trauma on health, a trauma-informed care (TIC) approach in health care is critical. TIC seeks to promote safety within health care and prevent retraumatization. The lack of systems-level data has been a major barrier to TIC implementation. This study aimed to understand the mechanisms and outcomes effective in implementing TIC across health systems using a systematic review of reviews and realist synthesis. METHODS: A systematic search of MEDLINE, Embase, PsycINFO, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), and Applied Social Science Index & Abstracts identified reviews addressing TIC in health care published in the last 10 years in peer-reviewed journals. Realist synthesis methodology was used to develop context-mechanism-outcome configurations. Thematic analysis was performed to generate a framework for the mechanisms of implementation that produce successful TIC outcomes. RESULTS: Sixteen articles featuring varied review types were included. The results, highlighting the strategies that lead to improved outcomes for patients and systems, were mapped to SAMHSA's 10 TIC implementation domains, including engagement and involvement; training and workforce development; cross-sector collaboration; screening, assessment, and treatment services; governance and leadership; policy; evaluation; progress monitoring and quality assurance; financing; and physical environment. CONCLUSION: The findings support the use of SAMHSA's 10 implementation domains in varied health care contexts to facilitate effective TIC processes. INTRODUCTION: Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are traumatic experiences that occur prior to age 18 years and can have a long-term impact on adult physical and mental health. Knowledge of ACEs, including the link between ACEs and health, and trauma-informed care (TIC), is essential for medical professionals to ensure respectful and compassionate care for those with a history of childhood adversity. This study examined medical students' knowledge, attitudes toward, and identification of ACEs and TIC to inform curricular efforts. METHODS: Using a cross-sectional design, students were recruited from 2 medical schools, one allopathic (medical degree) and one osteopathic (doctor of osteopathic medicine degree) to complete an electronic needs assessment survey. The survey included a patient vignette to assess students' ability to identify ACEs as contributing factors to patient health. The students were blind to the full purpose of the study to obtain an objective measurement of their ability to identify ACEs as contributors to patient health. Additional questions targeting knowledge and attitudes of ACEs and TIC were devised from previously published surveys with supplemental study-designed questions. RESULTS: Two hundred forty students completed the survey. Results demonstrated variable ability to identify ACEs; strong general knowledge of ACEs, with less developed practical knowledge; and overall positive attitudes toward ACEs and TIC. No differences were found between the medical degree and doctor of osteopathic medicine degree, or year in program. CONCLUSIONS: Medical students would benefit from curricular efforts that help to increase knowledge of the link between ACEs and health, increase practical application of ACEs and TIC, and improve their ability to identify ACEs in clinical scenarios. Background: The number of older people experiencing homelessness in Australia is rising, yet there is a lack of specialised residential care for older people subject to homelessness with high care and palliative needs. To address this significant gap, a purpose-built care home was recently opened in Sydney, Australia. Methods: This qualitative study explores the experiences of both residents and staff who were living and working in the home over the first twelve months since its opening. Residents were interviewed at baseline (n = 32) and after six months (n = 22), while staff (n = 13) were interviewed after twelve months. Interviews were analysed using a reflexive thematic analysis approach informed by grounded theory. Results: Three main themes emerged: (1) Challenges in providing care for older people subject to homelessness with high care needs; (2) Defining a residential care service that supports older people subject to homelessness with high care needs, and (3) Perception of the impact of living and working in a purpose-built care home after six months (residents) and twelve months (staff) since its opening. A key finding was that of the complex interplay between resident dependency and behaviours, referral pathways and stakeholder engagement, government funding models and requirements, staff training and wellbeing, and the need to meet operational viability. Conclusion: This study provides novel insights into how the lives of older people subject to homelessness with high care needs are affected by living in a specifically designed care home, and on some of the challenges faced and solved by staff working in the care home. Background: The metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a collection of risk factors for cardiovascular disease and type-2 diabetes, that includes central obesity, hypertension, hyperglycaemia and dyslipidaemia. An audit indicated inadequate MetS screening in an Australian psychiatric recovery service. Objectives: We aimed to improve MetS screening, identification and intervention by offering streamlined lifestyle education, clinical reviews and discharge planning. This pilot program prioritized holistic, culturally-sensitive, patient-centric, and trauma-informed approaches to enhance metabolic health outcomes. Methods: A Metabolic Clinic was piloted in two psychiatric rehabilitation cottages (n=35), which involved disciplines of dietetics, exercise physiology, diversional therapy, occupational therapy, peer workforce, social work, clinical psychology, pharmacy, nursing and medical. Another cottage (n=15) was assigned as the comparison and received standard care. A 12-week, 3-times-per-week lifestyle and behavioral program, called MetFit, was devised and offered to those identified at screening for the treatment cottages. Outcome measures were feasibility measures, the five metabolic parameters (waist circumference, blood pressure, fasting serum triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein, and glucose), functional measures, and a meal questionnaire. Results: The treatment cottages had qualitative advantages in screening and identifying MetS. Of four enrolled consumers in MetFit, an improvement of triglycerides (p=0.08), squats (p=0.02), and push-ups (p=0.07) was observed. Major challenges of enrolment included an overall lack of acknowledgment of its importance, poor motivation of consumers and resources limitation. Conclusions: The one-stop provision of groups, peer support and inpatient pathway with multidisciplinary team-integration was generally accepted by consumers and the MDT and has iteratively demonstrated the urgent need for consumer-centered physical care and a cultural shift to foster collaboration within a psychiatric service. Simple Summary: Trauma-informed care (TIC) is an approach which has been utilised in human psychology for many years now. TIC considers how important early experience is in determining lifelong responses to challenging situations, how individuals respond to stress, how they overcome it, and their ability to develop and sustain resilience. There are a number of scientific publications which consider the importance of early experience in animals, both in utero and during their early development. This paper considers aspects of TIC approaches for humans which might be applied in dogs, focusing on both prevention of behavioural problems, by protecting puppies from adverse early experiences, and also, assessment of shelter dogs or those presented for problematic behaviours. A TIC approach for dogs would result in the following: the realisation that adverse early experience has significant consequences for canine welfare; recognising that where dogs respond in an apparently irrational or over the top manner, it may be the result of previous trauma; people involved in the care of these dogs must respond with empathy, understanding, and practical solutions to improve the welfare of the dog, while avoiding the need to re-traumatise them in as part of the diagnostic or treatment processes. Dog caregiver reporting on the spectrum of fearful–aggressive behaviours often describes 'unpredictable' or 'exaggerated' responses to a situation/animal/person. A possible explanation for these behavioural responses considers that the dog is reacting to triggered memories for which the dog has a negative association. For many dogs undergoing veterinary behavioural treatment or rehabilitation through a canine rescue organisation, the assessing clinician relies on "proxy" reporting of the history/background by a caregiver (dog owner, foster carer, or shelter personnel). Detailed information on the event or circumstances resulting in this negative association may be limited or absent altogether. Consideration of a trauma-informed care (TIC) approach, currently applied in a wide range of human psychology and social care fields, may be helpful in guiding the clinical approach taken. The literature relating to adverse early experience (AEE) and trauma-informed care (TIC) in puppies/dogs compared to children/adults was evaluated to identify common themes and conclusions identified across both species. In the absence of known/identifiable trauma, behavioural assessment and management should consider that a 'problem' dog may behave as it does, as the result of previous trauma. The dog can then be viewed through a lens of empathy and understanding, often lacking for dogs presenting with impulsive, reactive, or aggressive behaviours. Assessment must avoid re-traumatising the animal through exposure to triggering stimuli and, treatment options should include counselling of caregivers on the impact of adverse early experiences, consideration of the window of tolerance, and TIC behavioural modification techniques. Background: Women who use or are in treatment for drug use during the perinatal period often have complex needs and presenting comorbidity. Women who use opioids during pregnancy, and their infants, experience poor outcomes. Drug use by women during pregnancy is a public health priority. This scoping review aimed to (1) map clinical guidelines, treatment protocols and good practice guidance across the UK for women who use or are in treatment for drug use during the perinatal period, (2) identify recommended best practice across health and social care for optimising outcomes and reducing inequalities for these women and (3) identify potential gaps within guidance. Methods: We followed the Joanna Briggs International (JBI) guidance on scoping reviews and PRISMA Scr extension. A registered protocol, containing a clear search strategy, inclusion, and exclusion criteria was adhered to. Reviewers double screened 25%, discussing disagreements. Data were extracted using a predefined template and charted in tables. Recommendations for best practice were organised around agreed categories. Results: Of 968 documents screened, 111 met the inclusion criteria. The documents included UK-wide, national, regional, and organisational policy documents. They varied in the degree they were relevant to women who use or are in treatment for drug use during the perinatal period, the settings to which they applied, and their intended users. Most were created without patient or public involvement and lacked any clear evidence base. Overall, documents recommended an integrated model of care with a lead professional, clear referral pathways and information sharing between agencies. Guidance suggested referrals should be made to specialist midwives, drug, and social care services. A holistic assessment, inclusive of fathers / partners was suggested. Recent documents advocated a trauma-informed care approach. Opioid substitution therapy (OST) was recommended throughout pregnancy where required. Potential gaps were identified around provision of support for women postnatally, especially when their baby is removed from their care. Conclusions: This synthesis of recommended practice provides key information for practitioners, service providers and policy makers. It also highlights the need for guidelines to be evidence-based, informed by the experiences of women who use or are in treatment for drug use during the perinatal period, and to address the support needs of postnatal women who have their babies removed from their care. Introduction: The early post-trauma period is a key time to provide psychological support to acutely injured children. This is often when they present to emergency departments (EDs) with their families. However, there is limited understanding of the feasibility of implementing psychological support for children and their families in EDs. The aim of this study was to explore UK and Irish ED clinicians’ perspectives on developing and implementing psychosocial care which educates families on their children’s post-trauma psychological recovery. Methods: Semi-structured individual and group interviews were conducted with 24 UK and Irish ED clinicians recruited via a paediatric emergency research network. Results: Clinicians expressed that there is value in offering psychological support for injured children and their families; however, there are barriers which can prevent this from being effectively implemented. Namely, the prioritisation of physical health, time constraints, understaffing, and a lack of training. Therefore, a potential intervention would need to be brief and accessible, and all staff should be empowered to deliver it to all families. Conclusion: Overall, participants’ views are consistent with trauma-informed approaches where a psychosocial intervention should be able to be implemented into the existing ED system and culture. These findings can inform implementation strategies and intervention development to facilitate the development and delivery of an accessible digital intervention for acutely injured children and their families. Introduction: Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is associated with significant patient burden. While pharmacotherapies and evidence-based psychotherapy interventions (EBPI) are effective, studies consistently highlight inadequate outcomes and high treatment dropout. Psychedelic therapy (PT) has shown preliminary promise across difficult-to-treat conditions, including MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD, however trials of classical psychedelics in PTSD are lacking. Understanding patients' experiences of EBPI could help promote safety in PT.Aim: To systematically review qualitative research on patients' subjective experience of EBPI for PTSD, and of PT, and examine areas of overlap and divergence between them.Methods: Systematic literature searches for studies published between 2010 and 2023 were conducted on OVID, PubMed, Web of Science, and PsycInfo. Included were original studies in English that presented qualitative data of patient experiences of EBPI in PTSD, or PT for any indication. Extracted data from included studies were analysed using thematic synthesis. Syntheses were completed separately for EBPI and PT, before similarities and differences between the therapies were identified.Results: 40 research articles were included for review: 26 studies on EBPI for PTSD, and 14 studies on PT. EBPI studied were CBT, EMDR, CPT and PE. Psychedelic compounds studied were psilocybin, ibogaine, LSD, MDMA and ketamine, for treatment of substance use disorders, anxiety relating to physical illness, depression, and PTSD. Core themes from patient experiences of EBPI: 1) patient burden in PTSD treatment; 2) readiness; 3) key mechanisms of change; 4) psychological safety and trust. Themes identified in the review of PT: 1) indirect trauma processing; 2) reorganisation of self-narratives via processes of relatedness and identification; 3) key treatment characteristics.Conclusion: This study suggests overlap between patients' experience of EBPI and PT in terms of key mechanisms of change, the importance of psychological safety and readiness to engage in treatment. The increasing recognition of trauma's pervasive impact underscores the critical need for trauma education within counselor training and supervision. Given that a significant proportion of adults in the United States have experienced trauma, it is essential for counselor educators (CEs) to be adept in trauma-informed principles (TIPs). The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) mandates trauma education, yet many CEs lack the requisite training. This conceptual manuscript addresses the gap by defining TIPs, discussing their role in teaching and learning, and providing guidelines for integrating TIPs across CACREP's eight core areas: professional counseling orientation and ethical practice, social and cultural diversity, human growth and development, career development, counseling and helping relationships, group counseling and group work, assessment and testing, and research and program evaluation. The manuscript advocates for embedding TIPs into counseling curricula to enhance counselor self-efficacy, competence, and cultural sensitivity, ultimately fostering a more supportive learning environment for counselor-in-training (CITs). Aim: To explore the Chinese nurses' current practices and challenges to trauma‐informed care (TIC) for accidentally injured patients, which can provide the way forward of improvement in the future. Design: A qualitative study. Methods: Sixteen Chinese nurses who had experience working with accidentally injured patients were invited into the semi‐structured interviews. Following each interview, the dialogue was transcribed verbatim. Subsequently, we analysed the data in accordance with the principles of thematic analysis. Results: Four common themes emerged from the analysis: (a) Awareness of patients' psychological trauma; (b) Recognition of psychological trauma; (c) Response to psychological trauma; (d) Perceived barriers to implementing TIC. This research indicated an urgent need for interventions in the future, such as TIC education and training, time constraints, heavy workload, emotional exhaustion and mood self‐regulation, giving policy incentives, strengthening leadership support and internal cooperation. With increased awareness and mindful decisions, digital designers can repair the harm caused by digital design and improve the online experience of individuals who have been previously marginalized. This repair of poor design decisions, wellintentioned or out of ignorance, is necessary in a world where technology, exclusion, and trauma are pervasive. This article provides examples of digital harm that designers must acknowledge, understand, and avoid recreating. The concept of trauma-informed design is explained along with two practical approaches for designers to use to become more trauma-informed, and repair harm when creating websites, apps, and other digital experiences. Being homeless is broadly understood to be traumagenic. Thus, support services for individuals experiencing homelessness (such as youth refuge) are encouraged to use trauma-informed models of care. However, there is a dearth of research that (1) focuses on youth refuge specifically, despite refuges being the most common response for youth homelessness worldwide, and (2) explains trauma-informed care models in detail so that they may be evaluated in practice. This paper outlines a trauma-aware framework used for nearly a decade within a youth refuge located in Melbourne, Australia: a psychologically informed environment (PIE). The paper provides: (1) an overview of trauma-informed care before describing what a PIE entails; (2) the how of a PIE, including core principles, their theoretical underpinnings, and how these principles are practically applied; and (3) the why of a PIE, focusing on implications for practice. A PIE is underpinned by key theoretical approaches such as attachment theory, the core emotional needs model, psychodynamic theory and formulation, social cognitive theory, and the transtheoretical model of change. A PIE encompasses five core principles of (1) relationships, rules, responsiveness, and roles; (2) physical and social spaces; (3) learning and enquiry; (4) staff support and training; and (5) psychological awareness. Overall, PIEs have been found to increase consumer engagement and decrease evictions, instill confidence and improve empathy within the staff, and decrease the risk for organizations, as seen by low incident rates. It is hoped that by providing this detailed outline of a PIE, more research can be undertaken into youth refuge care models, and more psychologically informed frameworks that address the multi-directional relationship between trauma and homelessness can be employed. As a result of the United States withdrawal from Afghanistan in fall 2021, 1,260 Afghan evacuees arrived in Minnesota between October 2021 and February 2022. Several contextual factors including an overtaxed health system under duress from COVID-19 and uncertain benefit eligibility prompted a coordinated public health response to appropriately address the acute and pressing medical concerns of our new neighbors. This community case study describes the State of Minnesota's cross-sectoral response that created a welcoming environment, identified public health concerns, and addressed acute medical needs. Medical volunteers provided an initial health and safety check for Afghan families upon arrival. Volunteers also offered onsite culturally and linguistically appropriate mental health assessments, group therapy, women's clinics, vaccine clinics, medication refills, and ongoing walk-in primary care. Care coordinators facilitated primary care and specialty care referrals. The majority (96%) of eligible arrivals were screened as part of this response and the median time between arrival to Minnesota and initial health screening was 2 days. Half of all arrivals screened reported at least one health concern and 56% were referred to a specialty for further evaluation. Almost one in four adults (24%) reported mental health concerns. Existing partnerships across local sectors can be leveraged to provide comprehensive physical and mental health services to newcomers in an emergency response.

Introduction Patient encounters perceived to be challenging are common and contribute to both suboptimal patient health outcomes and provider burnout. A trauma-informed care (TIC) approach to these encounters is critical, as many of the characteristics associated with challenging patient encounters can be linked to a history of trauma exposure. Methods Our team created and delivered a 1-hour synchronous virtual session intended to bolster provider knowledge of TIC principles and their application to challenging adolescent encounters. Participants were all faculty and staff engaged in pediatric primary care at an urban academic center, including physicians, nurse practitioners, psychologists, and social workers. The content was rooted in adult learning principles and included didactic components anchored to case-based learning with facilitated group discussions and opportunities for reflection. We used paired pre- and postsession self-assessments of provider knowledge, confidence, and practice related to TIC using Likert-scale and free-text questions. Descriptive statistics and a paired t test were used to determine the impact of the session on these metrics. Results In 24 paired surveys, there were statistically significant increases (p ≤ .001) in participant perceived knowledge, confidence, and practice, with 100% of participants having a statistically significant improvement in one or more of these domains. There were also strongly positive Likert-scale and free-text responses regarding content relevance and delivery. Discussion We demonstrate that a brief session can create improvement in pediatric providers’ perceived knowledge about the application of TIC principles to challenging adolescent encounters as well as confidence in their ability to put these into practice.

IntroductionHealth professionals have an opportunity to assist patients who are experiencing many types of violence, including human trafficking; however, current approaches are often not person-centered. The Provide privacy, Educate, Ask, Respect and Respond (PEARR) Tool, a recognized screening tool in the U.S., is a structured conversation guide for health professionals on how to provide trauma-sensitive assistance to patients who may be experiencing such violence, including human trafficking. This is the first study to evaluate the PEARR Tool and its use in hospital settings.MethodsA U.S.-based health system adopted the PEARR Tool as part of its Abuse, Neglect, and Violence policy and procedure. To support successful adoption, the health system also developed educational modules on human trafficking and trauma-informed approaches to patient care, including a module on the PEARR steps. In October 2020 and June 2021, a voluntary “PEARR Tool Training and Implementation Survey” was distributed to emergency department staff in three hospitals. The survey consisted of 22 questions: eight demographic and occupation related questions; five questions related to the education provided to staff; and, nine questions related to the use of the PEARR Tool in identifying and assisting patients.ResultsThe overall findings demonstrate a general increase in awareness about the prevalence of human trafficking, as well as a significant increase in awareness about the implementation of the PEARR Tool. However, the findings demonstrate that most respondents were not utilizing the PEARR Tool between October 2020 and June 2021. Most reported that the reason for this was because they had not suspected any of their patients to be victims of abuse, neglect, or violence, including human trafficking. Of those that had utilized the PEARR Tool, there was a marked increase in staff that reported its usefulness and ease of access when caring for patients.DiscussionThe COVID-19 pandemic posed many challenges during this study, including delays in staff education, changes in education format and delivery, and strains on staff. Initial data regarding the use of the PEARR Tool is promising; and additional research is recommended.

Introduction Many people experience trauma, and its cumulative effects throughout the life span can alter health, development, and well-being. Despite this, few publications focusing on interpersonal trauma include a holistic understanding of the nature and widespread exposure of trauma experiences for patients. We developed an educational resource to teach residents about identifying and intervening with patients who experience trauma across the life span using a trauma-informed care (TIC) perspective. Methods We created a 4-hour educational session for residents that included didactics, a virtual visit with a domestic violence shelter, a discussion with a person who had experienced trauma, and role-playing. A pretest/posttest retrospective survey assessed resident confidence level in identifying and intervening with patients who may have experienced trauma. We used the Wilcoxon signed rank test to compare pretest and posttest scores and the Kruskal-Wallis test to compare responses by residency type and year. Free-text questions were analyzed for thematic content. Results During the 2021–2022 academic year, 72 of 90 residents (80%) from four residency programs attended and evaluated the session. More than 90% of respondents reported the session met their educational needs and provided them with new ideas, information, and practical suggestions to use in their clinical endeavors. The results demonstrated significantly increased confidence on most of the metrics measured. Discussion This session significantly improved residents' confidence in identifying and intervening with patients who have had trauma experiences using a TIC perspective, which may lead them to provide improved patient care to those who have experienced trauma.

The aim of this study is to adapt the trauma-informed care scale, a scale developed to measure the level of knowledge, attitude and practice related to trauma-informed care, to Turkish culture by making the appropriate analysis. 161 mental health professionals participated in this survey model study. The data of the study were collected by using the convenience sampling method, the demographic information form and the Trauma Informed Care Scale. The data were generated through the online data collection platform surveey.com. It was determined that most of the mental health professionals (70.2%) in the study had never heard of the trauma-informed care model, and 87% did not use this model in their practice. The EFA analysis showed that a 3-factor structure was emerged, which explained 50.36% of the total variance and in which all items were included in the subscales of the original scale. According to the results of the analyzes, 3 items in the Attitude subscale were removed from the total items of the scale and the final version of 18 items scale that could be used in Turkish culture was created. The correlation analyzes showed that the total mean score was highly and positively correlated with all subscales. The Trauma-Informed Care Scale is a reliable measurement tool with proven structural validity and suitable for use by mental health professionals (physicians, nurses, psychologists, psychological counselors, social workers) working with trauma survivors, and researchers planning studies on trauma-informed care and/or trauma-sensitive care.

Background. Trauma from adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and serious traumatic events in adulthood is a significantly prevalent concern for public-health-hearing healthcare professionals. The pediatric and geriatric populations that audiologists often work with have been shown to be at an increased risk of experiencing traumatic events. Childhood and adult trauma can significantly impact the hearing and vestibular testing and treatment of these patients. Methods. This narrative review article discusses trauma-informed care (TIC) strategies that audiologists can use to recognize and respond to trauma in patients and prevent retraumatizing patients during their encounters in audiology clinics. Conclusions. This article will provide an overview of TIC and direct the reader to resources for their continued learning. Practical guidance on implementing trauma-informed practices in clinical audiology are also provided.
