Background: Adequate, balanced, and individualized nutrition, planned according to the patients' life expectancy in palliative care units, is crucial for maintaining essential functions. Aim: To determine the knowledge levels of nurses working in palliative care units regarding enteral nutrition practices and their perceptions of nutritional care quality in their units. Methods: This descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted in 25 palliative care units located in Izmir, Türkiye, between June and September 2022. The study sample consisted of 205 nurses working in palliative care units. Data were collected using a Personal Information Form, an Enteral Nutrition Practices Knowledge Form, and the Nurses' Perceived Nutrition Care Quality Assessment Scale. The STROBE checklist was also utilized. Results: The study found that the majority of participating nurses (94.6%) were female, with 78.5% holding bachelor's degrees. The median knowledge score for enteral nutrition: 15 (range: 2–27), perceived care quality score: 36 (range: 9–45). Those with enteral nutrition training had significantly higher knowledge scores (p <.001); palliative care certificate showed no difference (p =.846). Nurses lacking nutrition counseling knowledge had lower perceived care quality scores (p =.001). Monthly tube feeding applications correlated positively with knowledge scores (r =.173, p =.013), unlike professional experience duration (p =.126) and time spent in palliative care (p =.839). Conclusion: Nurses working in the palliative care unit find the quality of nutrition care provided to patients in their clinics to be sufficient, and the level of knowledge regarding enteral nutrition is at a moderate level. However, in questions related to nursing care such as fluid requirements during enteral nutrition with enteral solutions that affect both nutritional care and medical treatment, maintaining the opening of the jejunostomy tube, and enteral drug administration, correct response rates were low. Background: Palliative care is defined as basic care that is provided for patients who suffer from pain and suffering due to illness. These cares are primarily provided by nurses, so their knowledge and attitude play a significant role in this area. In this study, the aim was to investigate nurses' knowledge and attitudes regarding palliative and supportive care, as well as related factors. Methods: The present study is a cross-sectional, descriptive study that was conducted on 370 nurses working in Shahid Behaeshti hospital randomly selected between February to May 2023 in Kashan, Iran. The questionnaire of demographic and professional information, knowledge and attitude was completed by the samples in the form of self-reporting. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent sample t-tests and univariate regression. Results: The mean knowledge score of nurses was 10.16 ± 2.16, and the attitude score was 55.32 ± 10.56. Knowledge scores were higher for nurses (p = 0.02), nurses with experience caring for dying patients (p = 0.002), and nurses with job satisfaction (p = 0.02). The mean attitude score among nurses who attended a palliative care training course was also higher (p = 0.03). There were several predictors of knowledge, including age, bachelor's degree, experience caring for a dying patient, being a head nurse, and job satisfaction (R2 = 0.062, Adjusted R = 0.055, p < 0.05). It was determined that work experience, experience with an ill patient, palliative care training and feeling the need to have training as predictors of attitudes towards palliative care (R2 = 0.129, Adjusted R = 0.110, p < 0.05). Conclusions: It is concluded that holding palliative care training courses and paying attention to the obstacles that prevent the implementation of this care are necessary and important in order to improve nurses' knowledge and attitudes. Background: Demographic changes are leading to a rise in the demand for care services, with nursing homes (NHs) playing an increasingly important role in end-of-life care. Evidence suggests that NH residents at the end of life significantly benefit from hospice and palliative care and the implementation of advance care planning (ACP). In 2018, Germany passed a law to promote the implementation of ACP in NHs and to enable the refinancing of ACP services by the statutory health insurance funds. The present study aimed at assessing current hospice and palliative care structures, examining the implementation of ACP and identifying barriers to obtain approval for billing for ACP services under this specific legislative (§ 132 g SGB V). Methods: As a part of the "Gut-Leben" project, the present study administered a cross-sectional quantitative survey in 2023 to evaluate hospice and palliative care structures, the implementation of ACP, and barriers to ACP approval in German NHs. A questionnaire was distributed to a random sample of N = 1,369 NH managers. Responses were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods. Results: N = 330 NH managers responded to the questionnaire (24.1% response). The majority described the end-of-life care structures in their region as rather good (77.7; n = 256), and very strong collaboration was reported with general practitioners (54.7%), physiotherapists (42.9%), and palliative care physicians (38.6%). Awareness of the legislative for ACP was reported by n = 201 NHs (64.4%), and 100 (50.3%) of these NHs had already obtained approval. The primary barriers to approval identified by 68 NHs included a lack of available staff (48.5%; n = 33) and a small facility size (27.9%; n = 19). Conclusions: Although half of the NHs have implemented ACP, there is still a need to enhance awareness of the ACP legislative. These efforts should aim to reduce the existing barriers to approval, which could be achieved, for instance, by fostering collaboration between NHs or by cooperating with external ACP service providers. This study explored nurses' experience of "good nursing care" in the context of caring for terminally ill and end-of-life patients, providing a foundation for improving patient care. Methods: We employed a qualitative research approach, integrating both inductive and deductive analysis methods. Data collection occurred from May 1 to August 1, 2023, involving nine nurses from intensive care units, hospice and palliative care wards, and nursing homes. All participants had at least two years of experience in caring for terminally ill and end-of-life patients. Data were collected through individual in-depth interviews and analyzed using Colaizzi's six-stage phenomenological method for inductive analysis, and a deductive method based on four taxonomies: client domain, client-nurse domain, practice domain, and environment domain. Results: A total of 172 meaningful statements were derived, with five themes and 57 (33.14%) statements in the client-nurse domain, including three phenomena (contact, communication, and interaction); eight themes and 91 (52.91%) statements in the practice domain, including three phenomena (mentalistic, enactment, and role related phenomenon); and five themes and 24 (13.95%) statements in the environmental domain, including three phenomena (physical, social, and symbolic). Conclusion: The 18 themes of good nursing care, as conceived and experienced by nurses who cared for terminally ill and end-of-life patients, underscore the importance of attentive nursing care. Introduction: This qualitative literature review explored the intersection of art, creativity, and the nurse–patient relationship in the context of oncology nursing. It delved into the perceptions and reflections of nurses as captured by Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) analysis from two specialized nursing databases. Methods: The protocol was registered on the Open Science Framework (OSF) Platform. A comprehensive search was conducted in CINAHL, the British Nursing Database, and the Nursing & Allied Health Database, using keywords related to art, cancer, creativity, nursing, and relationships. The extracted qualitative research studies were then analyzed using GAI to identify key themes and insights. Results: The analysis revealed profound considerations regarding the role of nurses in oncology and palliative patient care. Nurses acknowledged the spiritual dimension through religious and spiritual practices, while emphasizing authentic presence and empathic communication. They actively addressed patient concerns, adapted to challenges, and engaged in continuous professional development. The insights from the GAI interpretation underscored the significance of empathy, creativity, and artistry in nurturing meaningful nurse–patient connections. Conclusions: The GAI-enabled exploration provided valuable insights into several dimensions of care, emphasizing the importance of spiritual sensitivity, empathic communication, and ongoing professional growth. As technology and human care converge, integrating artistry into the nurse–patient relationship could enhance patient experiences, improve outcomes, and enrich the oncology nursing practice. Background/Objectives: Access to palliative care is an urgent global need. Countries with the greatest palliative care needs have limited access. In Cameroon, demand for palliative care is growing due to the rising incidence of life-limiting conditions. Identifying available palliative care services and programs could provide an understanding of access gaps and inform future roadmaps for palliative care development in the country. We aim to map available palliative care services, identify gaps and inform recommendations to promote early access to palliative care in Cameroon. Methods: We undertook a literature review of articles reporting any aspects of palliative care in Cameroon. We searched Embase, MEDLINE, Scopus, PsycINFO, CINAHL, PubMed and gray literature. Data were analyzed thematically using the World Health Organization model for the assessment of palliative care development. Results: We identified 41 articles reporting 21 organizations with some form of palliative care services such as clinical services, education, advocacy and research. These were led mostly by individual health care providers or private and faith-based organizations. Major palliative care initiatives included training in the form of workshops, and adult and pediatric outpatient, in-patient and community-based palliative care. There were few reports of oral morphine production, community engagement, advocacy and palliative care research. Conclusions: Progress in palliative care development was reported in five regions of Cameroon over the last two decades. Findings suggest the need for an intersectoral approach including government, community, and health care stakeholders to achieve sustainable palliative care. Background: Nurses occupy a pivotal role in the provision of palliative care, acting as frontline providers who address the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of patients. The complexities inherent in palliative care frequently give rise to ethical dilemmas that significantly impact nurses' decision-making and patient interactions. It is therefore essential to gain an understanding of nurses' perceptions of ethical issues, quality of life, and adherence to patient rights in order to enhance the care delivered in these settings. Aim: This study aims to assess the ethical issues encountered by nurses in palliative care, evaluate their quality of life, and measure their understanding and adherence to patient rights. Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted among a sample of 85 nurses working in palliative care settings, specifically within the Oncology Department and Pain Clinic at a Specialized Hospital in Egypt. A stratified random sampling technique was employed. The data were collected using standardised questionnaires, including the Ethical Issues Scale (EIS), the Nursing Quality of Life Scale (NQOLS), and the Patient Rights Questionnaire (PRQ). The validity and reliability of these instruments were established prior to the commencement of the study. The collected data were subjected to mean and standard deviation (SD) calculations. Statistical analyses, including the calculation of Pearson correlation coefficients, were conducted. Results: The study sample comprised a diverse cohort of nurses, with a mean age of 40 years. The ethical issues were evaluated, yielding a mean score of 4.03 (SD = 0.74) on the EIS, with the highest score for "Patient Care" (M = 4.2, SD = 0.7). The overall quality of life mean score was 6.75, with the working dimension exhibiting the highest mean score at 7.1. The PRQ results indicated a high level of awareness regarding patient rights, with a total mean score of 49.5 (SD = 6.8). The results of the correlation analysis indicated a moderate positive correlation between ethical issues and patient rights (r = 0.52, p < 0.01), and ethical issues and quality of life (r = 0.45, p < 0.01). Conversely, a weaker correlation was found between quality of life and patient rights (r = 0.40, p < 0.05). Conclusions: The findings elucidate the ethical challenges confronted by nurses in palliative care and their ramifications for the quality of life and adherence to patient rights. It is imperative that nurses engaged in palliative care undergo continuous education and training in order to enhance their ethical decision-making abilities and thereby improve the quality of care they provide. Recommendations: It is imperative that strategies be developed to support nurses in addressing ethical dilemmas, to promote awareness of patient rights, and to enhance their overall quality of life through targeted interventions and resources. Background: Recently, the concept of expanded terminal sedation emerged to describe using sedation at the end of life in cases beyond the usual use. Using this sedation could be a stressful ethical encounter for healthcare providers. Case: In this paper, we describe a case of a Muslim palliative care nurse who cared for a patient with cancer who requested expanded terminal sedation. The palliative care nurse described that his initial response to the expanded terminal sedation order was refusing to start the sedation because he believed the patient was not terminally ill and was concerned about killing him, which is prohibited according to his religious beliefs. Further, the nurse perceived the patient's psychological distress and his verbalization of wishing to die peacefully as a concealed request for euthanasia, especially since he was not imminently dying. Finally, the nurse reported being frustrated and uncertain about the care, especially since he did not receive appropriate psychological counseling from professional personnel. Conclusions: any case beyond the usual conditions for terminal sedation should be carefully examined, especially when nurses' religious beliefs or moral values contradict it. If sedation should be administered, adequate preparation of healthcare providers should be arranged, including discussing with them the goals of care and the rationale for sedation before and after initiating it. Generating a policy for conscientious objections, allowing nurses to express their own emotions and concerns in a supportive environment are suggested approaches to preserve their wellness. Background: The need for nurses to provide high-quality palliative care in clinical settings is increasing with the expansion of the need for palliative care. This study aimed to identify the degree of willingness to provide palliative care among nurses in Korea, and to explore factors that influence this willingness. Methods: Participants were 160 nurses employed in five general hospitals in South Korea, with a clinical career of over one year. Data were collected using an online questionnaire between January and February 2023, that assessed nurses' knowledge and perception of palliative care, meaning of life, compassion competence, and degree of willingness to provide palliative care. Differences in willingness to provide palliative care based on general characteristics were analysed using an independent t-test and one-way analysis of variance. Correlations between the research variables and willingness to provide palliative care were analysed using Pearson's correlation coefficients. Hierarchical regression was conducted to explore the factors affecting willingness to palliative care. Results: The degree of willingness to provide palliative care among nurses was 74.43 ± 9.73 (Range 50–100). In the final model, it was found that the willingness to palliative care was affected in the order of: compassion competence (β = 0.48, p <.001), perception of palliative care (β = 0.18, p =.005), and clinical experience (β = 0.15, p =.026). The explanatory power of the model was 41.4% (F = 17.01; p <.001). Conclusions: Perceptions of palliative care, clinical experience, and compassion competence were identified as factors influencing nurses' willingness to provide palliative care. Based on this study, it is necessary to provide education and training that includes content that can increase nurses' awareness of palliative care and improve their compassion competence to promote their willingness to provide palliative care. Background: Palliative care provided to frail and dying older persons in nursing homes results in intense emotions for residents and their relatives as well as for healthcare professionals. In France, scant attention has been given to how nursing home professionals manage their emotions when providing palliative care. This study analysed the emotional demands of providing palliative care in the nursing home context, the emotional strategies used by healthcare professionals to navigate such demands, and how these demands affect their emotional wellbeing. Methods: This qualitative study used a multiple case study approach. We purposively selected nine nursing homes from three geographical provinces in France with diverse ownership statuses (public, private, associative). Individual interviews and focus group discussions were held with 93 healthcare professionals from various occupational groups employed in the participating nursing homes. Data was collected from April 2021 to September 2022 and was analysed using thematic content analysis. Results: Data revealed that providing palliative care to dying residents within the nursing home context results in intertwined rewarding and exhausting emotional experiences for healthcare professionals. Professionals have to utilize multifaceted emotional strategies to navigate these experiences, including suppressing and modifying emotions and distancing themselves emotionally from residents to protect themselves from emotional suffering. Participants noted a lack of formal space to express emotions. Unrecognized emotional labour undermines the wellbeing of healthcare professionals in nursing homes, whereas acknowledging emotions enhances satisfaction and gives enhanced meaning to their crucial role in resident care. Conclusion: Acknowledging emotional labour as an inevitable component of providing palliative care in nursing homes is critical to supporting healthcare professional wellbeing, resilience, and retention, which may ultimately improve the quality of care for dying residents. Ensuring quality care and supporting the emotional wellbeing of nursing home professionals requires an organisational culture that considers emotional expression a collective strength-building resource rather than an individual responsibility, in hopes of shaping a new culture that fully acknowledges their humanity alongside their professional skills. Background: Chronic, non-malignant diseases (CNMD) like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), congestive heart failure (CHF) and dementia in advanced stages are very burdensome for patients. Timely palliative care with strong collaboration between general practitioners (GPs) and specialist palliative home care (SPHC) teams can reduce symptom burden, hospitalization rates, hospitalization costs and overall healthcare costs. The KOPAL-study on strengthening interprofessional collaboration for patients with palliative care needs tested the effect of an intervention comprising of a SPHC nurse assessment and an interprofessional case conference. This qualitative evaluative study explores patients', proxies' and their associates' motivation to participate in the KOPAL-study and views on the (benefits of the) intervention. Methods: We interviewed 13 male and 10 female patients as well as 14 proxies of patients with dementia and six associates of study participants using a semi-structured interview guide. All interviews were digitally recorded, transcribed verbatim and analysed with deductive-inductive qualitative content analysis. Results: Motivation for participation was driven by curiosity, the aim to please the GP or to support research, respectively to help other patients. Few interviewees pointed out to have expected positive effects for themselves. The nurse visit was evaluated very positively. Positive changes concerning health care or quality of life were reported sparsely. Most study participants did not prepare for the SPHC nurse assessment. They had no expectations concerning potential benefits of such an assessment, the interdisciplinary case conference and an early integration of palliative care. The majority of interviewees reported that they did not talk about the nurse visit and the interprofessional case conference with their GPs. Conclusion: Our results lead to the conclusion that SPHC nurses can serve as an advocate for the patient and thereby support the patients' autonomy. GPs should actively discuss the results of the interdisciplinary case conference with patients and collaboratively decide on further actions. Patient participation in the interdisciplinary case conference could be another way to increase the effects of the intervention by empowering patients to not just passively receive the intervention. Background: End-of-life care pertains to the healthcare and assistance that patients have when confronted with a life-threatening disease. Many medical personnel in Iraq are still uninformed about and undertrained in handling the EOL issue, despite the country's growing need for EOL treatment. The study aim to assess the direction of nurses' attitude regarding care of dying patients at oncology centers, examine the relationships between nurse's attitude and demographic variables. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional design was conducted on Iraqi nurses in Middle Euphrates at three centers (N =150). Data analysis included descriptive statistics and Kruskal-Wallis H, Mann-Whitney U analysis. Results: shows that the total mean score for nurses attitudes was positive (93.39 (SD ±30.28), analysis reveals it is evident that there are statistically significant differences between those who are provided care for dying patients or not in terms of their attitude (p= 0.000) also nurses who attended educational session had significant differences than not attended. Aim: This study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of the "Spirituality in Palliative Care Scale" among nurses in Türkiye. Methods: The study was carried out with a methodological design. The study population consisted of nurses working in internal medicine and surgical clinics at a training and research hospital located in the western part of Türkiye between November 15, 2022, and April 12, 2023. The data for the study were collected through face-to-face interviews with nurses during their weekday break times in the clinics they worked. Results: Considering the opinions of the experts, the content validity indices of the scale items ranged between 0.88 and 1.00. As a result of the factor analysis, the number of items in the scale decreased from twelve to eight. The total variance explanatory value of the acceptance and spiritual nursing behaviors subscale was 35.010%, that of the ability to be mindful subscale was 30.783%, and that of the Spirituality in Palliative Care Scale was 65.792%. The factor loadings of the scale items ranged from 0.636 to 0.852. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the scale with eight items was found to be 0.851, for the ability to be mindful subscale was 0.728, and for the acceptance and spiritual nursing behaviors subscale was 0.843. Conclusion: It was determined that the Turkish version of the Spirituality in Palliative Care Scale met the validity and reliability criteria at an acceptable- level. Background: Palliative care provides holistic support, addressing physical, psychological, social, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of suffering, known as "total pain", to improve patients' quality of life. Patients often rely on healthcare professionals, particularly nurses, for support. This study aimed to develop and validate questionnaires assessing nurses' perceptions of psychological, social, and spiritual issues in palliative care and their effectiveness in managing them. Methods: Two self-rated questionnaires were created: the Psychological, Social, and Spiritual Problems of Palliative Patients' Questionnaire and the Effectiveness in Coping with the Psychological, Social, and Spiritual Challenges of Palliative Care Patients. The study surveyed 237 nurses caring for palliative patients in Split Dalmatian County, Croatia. Results: The questionnaires demonstrated high reliability with Cronbach's α values of 0.98 and 0.99. Factor analysis revealed four factors for the first questionnaire and three for the second. Nurses primarily perceived patients as experiencing fear and emotional/spiritual suffering, with the greatest difficulty coping with the fear of the disease outcomes. Nurses acknowledged the need for improvement in addressing patient challenges, highlighting gaps in the Croatian system. Background: The provision of high-quality palliative care is important to nursing practice. However, caring for palliative care patients and their families is challenging within a complex everchanging health environment. Nonetheless the caring, artistic role of the nurse is fundamental to the care of the patient and family. However, this role is currently being overshadowed by the technical and scientific elements of nursing. Methods: A scoping review was conducted utilising Arksey and O'Malley's framework to identify the role and contribution of nurses in caring for patients with palliative care needs. An open time period search of eight electronic databases (MEDLINE, CINAHL, Academic Search Complete, PsycINFO, EMBASE, Web of Science, Scopus and Cochrane Library) was conducted on the 8th of March 2023 and updated on the 30th of April 2024. Screening was performed independently by two reviewers against eligibility criteria with meetings between authors to discuss included papers and form a consensus. Data was extracted relating to palliative care nursing, methodology, key findings, and recommendations. The analysed and summarised data was mapped onto Oldland et al seven domains framework: (a) medical/nursing and technical competence, (b) person centred care, (c) positive interpersonal behaviours, (d) clinical leadership and governance, (e) promotion of safety, (f) management of the environment, and (g) evidence-based practice. Results: Fifty-five papers met the criteria for this review which describes the role and contribution of nurses in caring for palliative patients across all domains of professional practice. The review found the leading areas of nurse contribution were person centred, interpersonal and nursing care aspects, with leadership, managing the environment, patient safety and evidence-based practice evident but scoring lower. The contribution of the nurse in palliative care supports a biopsychosocial-educational approach to addressing the physical, emotional and social needs of patients with palliative care needs and their families across the care continuum. Conclusion: Nurses in palliative care engage in a wide range of roles and responsibilities in caring for patients and their families with palliative care needs. However, there remains minimal evidence on the assessment, intervention, and evaluation strategies used by nurses to highlight the importance of their role in caring for patients and their families in this area. The findings of this review suggest that the artistic element of nursing care is being diluted and further research with a focus on evidencing the professional competence and artistic role of the nurse in the provision of palliative care is required. Background: Innovative small-scale facilities for dementia focus on providing quality of life and maintaining the functional abilities of residents while offering residents a home for life. To fulfill the home-for-life principle, palliative care approaches are necessary to maintain quality of life in these facilities. Few studies have reported on how palliative care is provided to residents in small-scale facilities. The aim of our review is to determine the extent to which palliative care approaches are reported in small-scale facilities. Methods: A scoping review of the literature using recommended methods from the Joanna Briggs Institute. Four databases, CINAHL, PubMed, PsycINFO, and Web of Science, were searched for studies published from 1995 to 2023. One reviewer completed the title, abstract and full-text screening and data extraction; two additional team members piloted the screening and extraction process and met with the main reviewer to make decisions about article inclusion and ensure consistency and accuracy in the review process. The extracted data was open-coded and analyzed using thematic analysis. The data was then synthesized into themes using palliative care domains for dementia. Results: Of the 800 articles obtained in the search, only ten met the inclusion criteria: six from Japan, two from the Netherlands, and one each from Austria and the United States. In most small-scale facilities, palliative care is important, with facilities prioritizing family involvement and person-centred care, minimizing resident discomfort and enhancing residents' remaining abilities until the end of life. The included studies did not discuss palliative care policies or professional staff training in depth. Conclusions: This study provides an overview of the literature on palliative care in small-scale facilities for individuals with dementia. Most facilities focus on residents' wishes at the end of life to enhance comfort and provide a home-like environment. Background: Nurses working in palliative and end-of-life care settings face significant emotional challenges due to the demanding nature of their profession. This study aimed to explore the emotional resilience of these nurses, understanding the factors that contribute to their resilience, the impact on their professional well-being and performance, and strategies to enhance resilience. Methods: A qualitative study was conducted involving 15 registered nurses from various healthcare facilities in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, document analysis, and observational data. Thematic analysis was employed to identify recurring themes. Results: The study identified three key themes: Emotional Challenges and Resilience-Building, Support Systems and Resources for Resilience, and Professional Growth and Fulfillment as Resilience Factors. The findings revealed the emotional toll of patient suffering, highlighting resilience-building strategies, such as peer support, mindfulness, and reflective practices. Support systems, including workplace support, organizational resources, and mentorship, were identified as crucial for fostering resilience. Professional growth, a sense of purpose, and recognition emerged as factors contributing to resilience. Conclusions: This study underscores the importance of emotional resilience for nurses in palliative and end-of-life care settings. Healthcare organizations can enhance resilience by implementing resilience training, providing counseling services, fostering a supportive culture, and offering professional development opportunities. Introduction: Nursing home residents often have life limiting illnesses in combination with multiple comorbidities, cognitive deficits, and frailty. Due to these complex characteristics, a high proportion of nursing home residents require palliative care. However, many do not receive palliative care relative to this need resulting in unmet care needs. To the best of our knowledge, there have been no literature reviews to synthesise the evidence on how nursing home staff identify unmet palliative care needs and to determine what guidelines, policies, and frameworks on identifying unmet palliative care needs of nursing home residents are available. Aim: The aim of this scoping review is to map and summarise the evidence on identifying unmet palliative care needs of residents in nursing homes. Methods: This scoping review will be guided by the JBI Manual for Evidence Synthesis. The search will be conducted in CINAHL, MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science, APA PsycINFO, and APA PsycArticles. A search of grey literature will also be conducted in databases such as CareSearch, Trip, GuidelineCentral, ClinicalTrials.gov, and the National Institute for Health and Care and Excellence website. The search strategy will be developed in conjunction with an academic librarian. Piloting of the screening process will be conducted to ensure agreement among the team on the eligibility criteria. Covidence software will be used to facilitate deduplication, screening, and blind reviewing. Four reviewers will conduct title and abstract screening. Six reviewers will conduct full text screening. Any conflicts will be resolved by a reviewer not involved in the conflict. One reviewer will conduct data extraction using pre-established data extraction tables. Results will be synthesised, and a narrative synthesis will be used to illustrate the findings of this review. Data will be presented visually using tables, figures, and word clouds, as appropriate. Background: Delivering bad news is a sensitive and challenging aspect of nursing healthcare, requiring a holistic approach that respects patients' preferences, cultural values, and religious beliefs to promote adaptation to the person's state of health. Aim: We aim to map the evidence of the dimensions present in the communication and management of bad news by nurses to a person in a palliative situation, their caregivers, and their family members. Methods: Based on the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology, the search was conducted through MEDLINE Complete (EBSCOhost), CINAHL Complete (EBSCOhost), SciELO, and the Open Access Scientific Repository in Portugal. From a total of 756 articles, 14 were included, published between 2018 and 2023. Results: Structure components in bad news are influenced by the characteristics of the palliative patients, their caregivers, their family members, the nurses, and the organizational environment. Promoting the quality of the communication process is desirable through continuous and advanced training in end-of-life care, training in bad news, religiously and culturally sensitive nursing interventions centered on hope and maintaining faith, emotional management, and the utilization of a checklist protocol. Conclusions: Honest communication allows people to actively participate in the decision-making process and in the trajectory of the care plan that is focused on themselves and their preferences, which has outcomes in functional capacities and readaptation. Aim: To describe nurses' experiences of ethical challenges in relation to thirst in terminally ill patients in specialist palliative care units. Research design: A qualitative, reflexive thematic design with an inductive analysis was used. Participants and research context: Eighteen qualitative interviews with nurses working in six different specialist palliative care units in different hospitals in Sweden were conducted. The interviews were transcribed verbatim and analysed with a reflexive thematic analysis. Results: This study identified four themes that reflect ethical challenges experienced by nurses in the palliative care regarding thirst: Harmful infusions interfere with peaceful dying; conflict between tradition and personal experience; What is the right intervention to quench thirst? and; Lack of standard procedures, competence and interest among team members. Background: Thirst is the body's natural urge to replenish fluids in response to a deficiency in hydration. Patients at the end of life gradually lose their independence and reach a point where they become unable to express their needs and can no longer drink on their own. In palliative care, the main advice is to provide regular oral care to relieve symptoms such as dry mouth and thirst. However, according to previous studies the prevalence of thirst and dry mouth remains. Aim: The aim of this study was to describe palliative care, nurses' views and experiences of thirst in end-of-life care in specialist palliative care units. Methods: A qualitative interview study with an inductive approach was conducted. Eighteen nurses working in six different specialist palliative care units in different hospitals in Sweden were interviewed. The interviews were transcribed and analysed with a content analysis approach according to Graneheim and Lundman. Results: When nurses discuss thirst, they perceive thirst as a problem for the patient. This is attributable to various factors, including the patient breathing with an open mouth, a reduced level of awareness, and negligence on the part of the nursing staff. Signs of thirst are dry mouth, and frequently and intense sucking on the oral care stick during oral care. It also emerged that not all nurses perceived that dying patients experienced thirst. They believe that thirst is something that is reduced in the dying patient in the same way as hunger. The most important thing to them is to relieve the dry mouth by providing good oral care. Several issues, such as a lack of guidelines paired with the patient's reduced consciousness and hence his/her lack of communication, make assessing thirst problematic. Conclusion: Nurses have different thoughts and experiences about thirst, where some perceive patients as thirsty while others perceive them as having a dry mouth. Background: Nurses and researchers emphasize the importance of adding educational content of palliative care to nursing curricula in Iran as a means to improve the quality of care at the end of life and self-efficacy is considered as an important determinant in palliative care nursing. However, undergraduate nursing students are not sufficiently trained to achieve the qualifications required in palliative care. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of combined training (theoretical-practical) of palliative care on the perceived self-efficacy of nursing students. Methods: This is a semi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest design. Sampling was nonrandomized with convenience method and included 23 seventh-semester students. The intervention consisted of palliative care training for ten theoretical sessions and three practical sessions. Data were collected using demographic and the perceived self-efficacy questionnaires completed before and after the intervention. Data were then analyzed in the statistical SPSS 23 software using descriptive and analytical statistics. Results: The mean age of the samples was 22.78 (SD1.17). Most of the participants were male (56.5%) and single(91.3%). The findings showed that, perceived self-efficacy, psycho-social support and symptom management improved significantly after the intervention (p<0.05). Conclusion: Palliative care training can increase the nursing students perceived self-efficacy. Since nursing students are the future nurses of the care system, therefore, managers and planners can take a step towards improving the quality of nursing care by using palliative care training programs. Background: The population is aging, leading to an increased need for palliative care and end-of-life care. There is a lack of research on the use of video consultations for knowledge transfer between specialist and general palliative care. The aim of this study was to describe healthcare professionals' experiences of video consultations in palliative care in community homecare and nursing homes in rural areas. Methods: Individual interviews (n = 11) were conducted with five community nurses, one occupational therapist, two specialist palliative nurses, and three specialist palliative care physicians. The data were analysed using reflexive thematic analysis. Results: The analysis identified three themes: feeling comfortable with increased availability of specialist expertise; seeing each other facilitates communication; and being supported by physically present care professionals is essential. Conclusion: HCPs suggest that video consultations are an effective way to increase access to specialist palliative care and provide more equal care to patients with palliative care needs in rural community care. Purpose: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) placed a significant strain on nursing homes, leading to numerous outbreaks and high mortality rates. This situation created considerable stress and challenges for residents, their physicians and nurses, as well as family caregivers. By understanding these challenges, we can gain new insights and learn valuable lessons. Thus, the purpose of this study is to examine the treatment and care provided to nursing home residents with COVID-19, as experienced by physicians, nurses, and family caregivers. Participants and Methods: This study is a secondary analysis of 35 interviews with physicians, nurses, and family caregivers, each with personal experience caring for nursing home residents diagnosed with COVID-19. The interviews took place from December 2020 to April 2021. We analyzed the transcriptions based on Braun and Clarke's reflexive thematic analysis model and followed a qualitative descriptive design as outlined by Sandelowski. Findings: The analysis produced three themes: 1) Balancing medical treatment, 2) The need for increased systematic monitoring of vital functions, and 3) Determining the treatment level for nursing home residents. These themes were explored through the unique perspectives of the three participant groups: physicians, nurses, and family caregivers. The findings revealed several challenges related to treatment and care for nursing home residents diagnosed with COVID-19. This applied both to relief of symptoms, monitoring of vital functions, assessment of treatment level and use of advance care planning. Conclusion: Drawing from the experiences of physicians, nurses, and family caregivers, there should be a unified plan at the municipal or national level for competency development in nursing homes to prepare for future crises like pandemics or epidemics. Background: Unpaid carers make a substantial contribution to the health economy and carers of palliative patients are particularly vulnerable due to special patient needs and excessive carer burden. The Australian Government recently implemented the Integrated Carer Support Service Model to provide a range of free services to carers in the community. However, it is unclear whether such initiatives are effective and, more importantly, how carers of palliative patients gain access to information, support and services for the patient and themselves. Objectives: We sought to investigate unpaid carers' experiences in accessing information and resources for support with patient care with a specific focus on palliative care resources and to determine carers' access to information and support for self-care. We also aimed to identify what opportunities and challenges remain for these particular carers according to their experiences. Methods: We conducted 18 semi-structured interviews and 3 focus groups with unpaid family or friend carers of palliative patients in South Australia from metropolitan, regional and rural communities. Grounded in a descriptive phenomenological paradigm, we conducted a hybrid approach to thematic analysis combining deductive and inductive coding following Fereday and Muir-Cochrane's method. Results: The government's web-based initiative provided little impact in supporting carers from our cohort. There remains a substantial gap between the formal recognition of the importance of carers and their lived reality. This recognition by health professionals is vital, as carer self-identification is not common and affects help-seeking behaviour. Carers seek and respond to more grassroots, personalized forms of support and sharing of information. Conclusion: The lack of self-identification affects carers' help-seeking behaviours. Carer identification and recognition need to be initiated by health professionals in a proactive manner to ensure carers are prepared for their role and are emotionally supported to sustain it. Introduction: Malnutrition is prevalent among individuals with gastric cancer and notably decreases their quality of life (QOL). However, the factors impacting QOL are yet to be clearly defined. This study aimed to identify essential factors impacting QOL in malnourished patients suffering from gastric cancer. Methods: By using the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) to assess the nutritional status (>4 defined malnutrition) of hospitalized cancer patients, 4,586 gastric cancer patients were ultimately defined as malnourished. Spearman method was used to calculate the relationship between clinical features and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire (EORTC QLQ-C30). Then, univariate and multivariate logistic regression were used to observe which factors affected QOL, and subgroup analysis was performed in young and old population respectively. In addition, we used univariate and multivariate logistic regression to explore whether and how self-reported frequent symptoms in the last 2 weeks of the PG-SGA score affected QOL. Results: In multivariate logistic regression analysis of clinical features of patients with malnourished gastric cancer, women, stage II, stage IV, WL had an independent correlation with a low global QOL scores. However, BMI, secondary education, higher education, surgery, chemotherapy, HGS had an independent correlation with a high global QOL scores. In multivariate logistic regression analysis of symptoms in self-reported PG-SGA scores in patients with malnourished gastric cancer, having no problem eating had an independent correlation with a high global QOL scores. However, they have no appetite, nausea, vomiting, constipation and pain had an independent correlation with a lower global QOL scores. The p values of the above statistical results are both < 0.05. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that QOL in malnourished patients with gastric cancer is determined by female sex, stage II, stage IV, BMI, secondary and higher education or above, surgery, chemotherapy, WL, and HGS. Patients' self-reported symptoms of nearly 2 weeks, obtained by using PG-SGA, are also further predictive of malnourished gastric cancer patients. Introduction: The discussion on palliative care in high-tech environments and interventional practice represents one of the various aspects to be considered in the challenge of providing a continuum of wellness in living and dying for the elderly. Objective: To map and identify the existing works in the literature on nursing actions that focus on palliative care for elderly patients in surgical hospitalization settings. Materials and methods: This scoping review was conducted on eight databases, following the Joanna Briggs Institute and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review-Scoping Review guidelines. The following descriptors were used: nursing care; palliative care; elderly; surgery. The inclusion criteria were the following: primary research, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and clinical trials. The search was performed in three stages: database listing / pilot test; broad search/ application of the “PCC” strategy (population, concept, context); and full reading of the content. A total of 509 productions were retrieved and then managed using the Rayyan® software, of which 13 studies were selected. The protocol was registered in the Open Science Framework. Results: The total population consisted of 10,417 people aged from 60 to 109. The most frequent interventions included the physical dimension, for symptomatic control; the cultural dimension, in which the dilemmas present in an environment with a high expectation for recovery and rigid interventionist protocols were highlighted, as well as the communication dimension, which is a basic tool of palliative care. Conclusions: Elderly people with serious conditions can benefit from palliative care in the perioperative setting. However, there is a need for training nurses in pain management, empowerment to participate in ethical decisions, and training for better communication. It should be noted that evidence on interventions to improve palliative care is still limited by methodological flaws, so rigorous evaluations are needed to measure significant results for patients and care. Background: Advance care planninganning (ACP) is a priority within palliative care service provision. Nurses working in the community occupy an opportune role to engage with families and patients in ACP. Carers and family members of palliative patients often find ACP discussions difficult to initiate. However, community nurses caring for palliative patients can encourage these discussions, utilising the rapport and relationships they have already built with patients and families. Despite this potential, implementation barriers and facilitators continue to exist. To date, no research synthesis has captured the challenges community nurses face when implementing ACP, nor the facilitators of community nurse-led ACP. Considering this, the review question of: 'What factors contribute to or hinder ACP discussion for nurses when providing care to palliative patients?' was explored. Method: To capture challenges and facilitators, a global qualitative scoping review was undertaken in June 2023. The Arksey and O'Malley framework for scoping reviews guided the review methodology. Six databases were searched identifying 333 records: CINAHL (16), MEDLINE (45), PUBMED (195), EMBASE (30), BJOCN (15), IJOPN (32). After de-duplication and title and abstract screening, 108 records remained. These were downloaded, hand searched (adding 5 articles) and subject to a full read. 98 were rejected, leaving a selected dataset of 15 articles. Data extracted into a data extraction chart were thematically analysed. Results: Three key themes were generated: 'Barriers to ACP', 'Facilitators of ACP' and 'Understanding of professional role and duty'. Key barriers were – lack of confidence, competence, role ambiguity and prognostic uncertainty. Key facilitators concerned the pertinence of the patient-practitioner relationship enabling ACP amongst nurses who had both competence and experience in ACP and/or palliative care (e.g., palliative care training). Lastly, nurses understood ACP to be part of their role, however, met challenges understanding the law surrounding this and its application processes. Conclusions: This review suggests that community nurses' experience and competence are associated with the effective implementation of ACP with palliative patients. Future research is needed to develop interventions to promote ACP uptake in community settings, enable confidence building for community nurses and support higher standards of palliative care via the implementation of ACP. Purpose: The purpose of this qualitative study was to employ Colaizzi’s phenomenological research method to elucidate and understand the essence of practical experiences among consultative hospice palliative care nurses working in hospice institutions. Methods: The participants in the study were 15 consultative hospice palliative care nurses with over 1 year of work experience in institutions located in S City, I City, and K Province in South Korea. Data were collected from 23 in-depth interviews and analyzed using Colaizzi’s phenomenological qualitative method. Results: The practical experiences of consultative hospice palliative nurses were categorized into five categories, 10 theme clusters, and 25 themes. The five categories included “being aware of patients’ situations at the time of transition to hospice palliative care,” “empathizing with patients and their families by putting oneself in the other’s shoes,” “providing patient and family-centered end-of-life care,” “experiencing difficulties in practical tasks,” and “striving to improve hospice service quality.” Conclusion: This study is significant in that it provides practical data for understanding the experiences of consultative hospice palliative care nurses caring for terminally ill patients. This could enhance our understanding of care solutions that effectively tackle the challenges consultative hospice palliative care nurses encounter while fulfilling their roles. Background: The prevalence of heart failure (HF) continues to increase with an increase in the aging population. Palliative care should be integrated into routine disease management for all patients with serious illness, regardless of settings or prognosis. Objectives: The purposes of this study were to determine the level of knowledge of nurses concerning palliative care for patients with heart failure after implementation of instructional program. Design: The study was a quasi-experimental study and consists of 60 nurses. Setting: The study was conducted between17th November 2021, to 10th February 2022, at three teaching hospitals in Baghdad city, Iraq. Method: A non-probability (purposive) sample was utilized, nurses who agreed to participate in the study, were working in medical wards in the hospitals mentioned above. They divided in to two groups (study group) and (control group). Nurses are educated on the definition, history, and philosophy of palliative care, the responsibilities of palliative care nurses, symptom management, and end of life care. The education was applied in three sessions. Data were collected before and after the education via nurse identification form developed by the research team and the palliative care knowledge test. Results: There was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of nurses before and after training (p < 0.001). It was found that instructional programs have a large effect on nurses’ knowledge about palliative care. Background: Spain currently lacks a competency framework for palliative care nursing. Having such a framework would help to advance this field in academic, governmental, and health management contexts. In phase I of a mixed-methods sequential study, we collected quantitative data, proposing 98 competencies to a sample of palliative care nurses. They accepted 62 of them and rejected 36. Methods: Phase II is a qualitative phase in which we used consensus techniques with two modified nominal groups to interpret the quantitative findings with the objective of understanding of why the 36 competencies had been rejected. Twenty nurses from different areas of palliative care (direct care, teaching, management, research) participated. We conducted a thematic analysis using NVivo12 to identify meaning units and group them into larger thematic categories. Results: Participants attributed the lack of consensus on the 36 competencies to four main reasons: the rejection of standardised nursing language, the context in which nurses carry out palliative care and other factors that are external to the care itself, the degree of specificity of the proposed competency (too little or too great), and the complexity of nursing care related to the end of life and/or death. Conclusions: Based on the results, we propose reparative actions, such as reformulating the competencies expressed in nursing terminology to describe them as specific behaviours and insisting on the participation of nurses in developing institutional policies and strategies so that competencies related to development, leadership and professional commitment can be implemented. It is essential ​​to promote greater consensus on the definition and levels of nursing intervention according to criteria of complexity and to advocate for adequate training, regulation, and accreditation of palliative care expert practice. Locally, understanding why the 36 competencies were rejected can help Spanish palliative care nurses reach a shared competency framework. More broadly, our consensus methodology and our findings regarding the causes for rejection may be useful to other countries that are in the process of formalising or reviewing their palliative care nursing model. Introduction: Palliative care is not yet widely available. Each year, approximately 58 million people worldwide require palliative care. In Africa, an estimated 9.7 million people require palliative care. In Ethiopia, the integration of palliative care into the country's health system has taken several years. Previous studies conducted on palliative care have emphasized on the knowledge of nurses towards palliative care, and some studies have attempted to assess the practice of palliative care in specific areas of the country. However, we studied the practice of palliative care at a national level. So, the purpose of the study is to identify nurses' palliative care practice level and factors associated with palliative care. Methods: We employed a facility-based cross-sectional study design to assess palliative care practices. We considered tertiary hospitals with functional cancer centers. To conduct this study, we included nurses from three hospitals; we recruited 255 nurses from these hospitals. The dependent variable of palliative care practice of nurses was first measured in continuous scale measurement and then converted to dichotomous outcome variable based on a 75% score cutoff value. Based on the multivariable logistic regression output, we considered variables with a p-value of < 0.05 as the factors significantly associated with good palliative care practice. Results: We collected data from 249 nurses, with a response rate of 98%. Based on our findings, 57% of nurses had good palliative care practices. We also identified that the type of healthcare facility, nurses' knowledge of palliative care, nurses' level of academic qualification, and nurses' attitudes towards palliative care were factors associated with the level of palliative care practice. Conclusion: This score of palliative care practice level should be improved. The Federal Ministry of Health, along with healthcare facilities in general and tertiary hospitals in particular, should strengthen good palliative care practice by providing up-to-date training for nurses. Access to care for pediatric hospice patients is inhibited by a lack of providers specifically educated to care for pediatric patients. Education that seeks to address this gap in care must develop the specific knowledge and skills required to care for pediatric patients, and this education must also be delivered in a format that enables convenient access to providers. This article describes the development of an innovative blended curriculum to build upon the existing knowledge base and skill set required by experienced adult hospice care providers to expand care for pediatric patients. The article elucidates how the community of practice framework and Bloom's taxonomy informed the blended curriculum leveraging both online, asynchronous modules and virtual, synchronous precepting sessions and also informed the selection of content, activities, and assessment methods aligned to requisite competencies and skills. Purpose: This study aimed to assess the impact of the Nursing Spiritual Care Module on the competence of nurses in providing spiritual care in the context of Malaysia. Method: This study employed an experimental design and involved a total of 122 nurses, with 59 in the experimental group and 63 in the control group. Participants were selected from palliative care wards associated with Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia. Nurses in the experimental group underwent a two-week educational module on nursing spiritual care, while nurses in the control group attended a single lecture on spiritual care provided by the hospital. Results: The results indicated no significant differences in sociodemographic characteristics between the two groups. A significant difference in spiritual care competence within the intervention group and the control group over time (p-value = 0.001), between the two groups (p-value = 0.038), and in the interaction between time and group (p-value = 0.001). Conclusion: The Nursing Spiritual Care Module is crucial in aiding nurses and healthcare professionals in cultivating the appropriate and wholesome attitudes and practices necessary to address the spiritual needs of patients. Palliative care (PC) is a differentiated healthcare area focused on promoting comfort, and preventing and alleviating suffering. End-of-life (EOL) care is integrated into this branch of medicine and will have great relevance in the near future as a result of increased life expectancy and highly disabling chronic diseases. It is imperative that healthcare professionals have the capacity and preparation to guarantee this care. The objective of this work is to propose a model that relates spirituality, emotional intelligence, PC knowledge, self-efficacy, and the ability of doctors and nurses to provide EOL care. A questionnaire was applied to collect data. The relationships between these latent variables were evaluated using structural equation models. The results indicate that self-efficacy, spirituality and knowledge positively influence the ability to provide EOL care. Emotional intelligence and spirituality directly and positively affect self-efficacy. Emotional intelligence has an indirect effect, mediated by self-efficacy, on the ability to provide EOL care. The risks inherent to being a doctor or a nurse in palliative care are well known. Since palliative care is a context in which professionals are exposed to specific risks and challenges, self-care is important to promote a better practice and prevent burnout. However, little research has been conducted to determine the impact palliative care setting has in clinical psychologists. It is necessary to explore the influence this work has on the well-being of psychologists, and the relevance they attribute to self-care. This qualitative study explores the experiences of clinical psychologists working in palliative care in order to understand the various aspects related to their self-care. Eleven Portuguese psychologists working in palliative care participated in semi-structured interviews. A thematic analysis was performed, and three main domains emerged: (1) working in palliative care and its impact; (2) self-care: how, what for and why not more; and (3) self-care learning. The findings suggest that being a psychologist in this setting has risks, as being exposed to human suffering, but also has existential positive benefits that allow them to seize their own lives and understand the strengths of humankind. Self-care practices are perceived as improving professional performance and contribute to the well-being of the psychologist. Also, participants recognized some barriers to self-care that seem to be related to the little access to self-care information during their training. Objective: This study investigated the preferences and perceptions of the participants regarding patient services in the emergency department (ED). Methods: A vast comprehensive survey, targeting a sample size of 597 participants in the Jeddah region, was conducted. The study aimed to understand the appeal and necessity of various features ranging from amenities in the waiting area, specialist care, medical staff professionalism, infrastructural modifications, and procedural changes in the ER departments. Results: A substantial number agreed on a free coffee/tea service (80%), free Wi-Fi (92.1%), long comfortable seats (84.9%), and a mobile charging station (92%). Interestingly, patients preferred health information on TV (52.5%). Understanding the need for additional amenities, 72% supported the idea of a dedicated play area for children. Almost 73.8% responded in favor of a valet parking service, and 69.9% recognized the importance of personal care services provided by medical staff and nurses. The survey further showed that the presence of a device indicating approximate waiting time was a desired feature (93%). Notably, the qualifications of the emergency physician mattered for 71.7% of participants. Concerning medication delivery, 70.2% of participants preferred receiving them at their location in the ED. Further, 71.1% preferred to have healthy snacks on waiting area, and about 98.2% needed toilets to be cleaned frequently and scented. Conclusion: This comprehensive survey indicated a significant inclination towards patient-centric modifications in the EDs. Background: Hospice and Palliative Care (HPC) is in high demand in China; however, the country is facing the shortage of qualified HPC nurses. A well-suited competence framework is needed to promote HPC human resource development. Nevertheless, existing unstandardized single-structured frameworks may not be sufficient to meet this need. This study aimed at constructing a comprehensive multi-structured HPC competence framework for nurses. Methods: This study employed a mixed-method approach, including a systematic review and qualitative interview for HPC competence profile extraction, a two-round Delphi survey to determine the competences for the framework, and a cross-sectional study for framework structure exploration. The competence profiles were extracted from publications from academic databases and interviews recruiting nurses working in the HPC field. The research team synthesized profiles and transferred them to competences utilizing existing competence dictionaries. These synthesized competences were then subjected to Delphi expert panels to determine the framework elements. The study analyzed theoretical structure of the framework through exploratory factor analysis (EFA) based on a cross-sectional study receiving 491 valid questionnaires. Results: The systematic review involved 30 publications from 10 countries between 1995 and 2021, while 13 nurses from three hospitals were interviewed. In total, 87 and 48 competence profiles were respectively extracted from systematic review and interview and later synthesized into 32 competences. After the Delphi survey, 25 competences were incorporated into the HPC competence framework for nurses. The EFA found a two-factor structure, with factor 1 comprising 18 competences namely Basic Competences; factor 2 concluding 7 competences namely Developmental Competences. Background: The prevalence of heart failure (HF) continues to increase with an increase in the aging population. Palliative care should be integrated into routine disease management for all patients with serious illness, regardless of settings or prognosis. Objectives: The purposes of this study were to determine the level of knowledge of nurses concerning palliative care for patients with heart failure after implementation of instructional program. Design: The study was a quasi-experimental study and consists of 60 nurses. Setting: The study was conducted between17th November 2021, to 10th February 2022, at three teaching hospitals in Baghdad city, Iraq. Method: A non-probability (purposive) sample was utilized, nurses who agreed to participate in the study, were working in medical wards in the hospitals mentioned above. They divided in to two groups (study group) and (control group). Nurses are educated on the definition, history, and philosophy of palliative care, the responsibilities of palliative care nurses, symptom management, and end of life care. The education was applied in three sessions. Data were collected before and after the education via nurse identification form developed by the research team and the palliative care knowledge test. Results: There was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of nurses before and after training (p < 0.001). It was found that instructional programs have a large effect on nurses' knowledge about palliative care. Aim: To explore nurses' experiences of using the Integrated Palliative care Outcome Scale (IPOS) as a communication tool in specialized palliative care. Design: This study employed a qualitative inductive approach. The Standards for Reporting Qualitative Research were followed for reporting. Methods: Five focus groups were conducted with nurses from four specialized palliative care units, and the discussions were analysed with quality content analysis. Results: Using IPOS for communication with the patient gave an opportunity to understand the patient's care needs and to let these care needs guide care interventions. Prerequisites in terms of relation, atmosphere, skills and flexibility were needed to establish an interactive communication. It was challenging to communicate about issues that evoked emotional reactions in the patient. There was a balancing act between the use of a structured scale and overcoming communication challenges. Innovations that foster academic-practice partnerships can fill direct clinical care gaps and supplement faculty expertise, particularly in rural settings. An end-of-life simulation was cocreated by nursing faculty and regional certified hospice and palliative care nurses (CHPNs) as a course improvement project for traditional baccalaureate students who lacked direct care experience. Groups of students experienced skills-based pain management and end-of-life conversation-based scenarios using CHPNs as standardized patients. The simulation conformed to current standards in health care simulation, including prebriefing and debriefing components. Background: There is a growing need for palliative care globally due to the rapid aging of the population and improvement in cancer survival rates. Adequate knowledge and a positive attitude are vital for palliative care nurses. The study’s purpose was to examine nurses’ knowledge and attitudes toward palliative care. Methods: A cross-sectional design with convenience sampling was used. The study included 182 intensive care unit (ICU) nurses from Jordanian hospitals in all sectors. Self-administered questionnaires were used to assess nurses' knowledge and attitudes toward palliative care. Descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, and the Kruskal-Wallis H test were used to analyze the data. Results: We measured nurses’ knowledge using the Palliative Care Quiz for Nursing, and we measured nurses' attitudes using the Frommelt Attitude Toward Care of the Dying scale. The mean total knowledge and attitude scores were 8.88 (standard deviation [SD], 2.52) and 103.14 (SD, 12.31), respectively. The lowest level of knowledge was in psychosocial and spiritual care (mean±SD, 0.51±0.70). The percentage of nurses with unfavorable attitudes was 53.3%. Significant differences in knowledge and attitude levels were observed according to educational level, experience, and hospital type. Conclusions: ICU nurses have insufficient knowledge and inappropriate attitudes toward palliative care. Knowledge of psychological and spiritual aspects of palliative care was particularly lacking as were appropriate attitudes towards communication with dying patients. Provision of palliative care to patients with advanced chronic diseases or old populations is suboptimal, which results in unnecessary suffering of and burden to patients, caregivers, and society. Low self-efficacy in palliative care among nurses is a factor affecting suboptimal utilization of palliative care. Poor knowledge is a factor affecting low self-efficacy in palliative care of nurses. Attitudes may contribute to the relationship between knowledge and self-efficacy in palliative care, but these relationships have been rarely examined in nurses. This study aimed to determine whether nurses' attitudes moderate the relationship between knowledge and self-efficacy in palliative care. In a cross-sectional, correlational study, online or offline survey on self-efficacy, knowledge, attitudes, and covariates was conducted from 282 nurses in South Korea. PROCESS v4.1 for SPSS was used to address the study aim. Higher levels of knowledge (p =.048) and attitudes (p <.001), and the interaction term of knowledge and attitudes (p =.025) were significantly associated with higher levels of self-efficacy (F = 6.12, p <.001, R2 =.152), indicating the moderating effects of attitudes. The relationships between higher levels of knowledge and self-efficacy were significant only in nurses with highly and moderately positive attitudes (R2 change =.016, F = 5.11, p =.025), but not nurses with lack of positive attitudes. Our results supported the moderating role of nurses' attitudes in the relationship between knowledge and self-efficacy. Objectives: Secondary prevention of stroke largely depends on risk factor control and lifestyle modification. Optimal secondary prevention strategies are limited in rural settings due to the shortage of primary care physicians and neurologists. Awareness of community health workers (CHWs) regarding stroke and its management remains largely unexplored. The current cross-sectional study aimed at assessing the knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of CHWs regarding stroke care. Materials and Methods: A structured KAP questionnaire was administered among 510 CHWs from randomly selected rural health blocks of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. Results: Knowledge assessment showed that the CHWs possessed an average knowledge of stroke care. The mean attitude and practice scores were higher, indicating a favorable attitude and good practice. The overall mean (standard deviation) KAP scores of CHWs were 13.54 (4.43) against a total score of 23. The KAP scores were highest among palliative care nurses. The stroke awareness of the accredited social health activists was comparatively lower than other CHWs. Factors such as age and years of work experience were not correlated to the KAP scores. Conclusion: Recurrent strokes remain a major challenge in primary care. Overall, the health workers demonstrated average knowledge, favorable attitudes, and positive practices. Background: Nurses in critical care and palliative care units care for patients suffering from severe pain and suffering and at high mortality risk. For this reason, nurses working in these units should be psychologically resilient. However, nurses who are constantly exposed to the death process face the risk of thanatophobia. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between thanatophobia levels and the psychological resilience of nurses working in intensive care and palliative care units. Methods: The sample of this descriptive and cross-sectional study included 158 nurses working in intensive care and palliative care units. Personal information form for nurses, Thanatophobia Scale and Psychological Resilience Scale for Adults were used. Data were collected through an online questionnaire in the study. Percentage calculations, mean measurements, Kruskal Wallis test and Mann Whitney U test were used in the statistical evaluation of the data. Results: The mean of thanatophobia scale and psychological resilience scale was found 31.74 ± 10.08 and 108.34 ± 7.12, respectively. There was a statistically significant difference between the tanatophobia total scale score and age, receiving training on psychological resilience (p < 0.05). A statistically significant difference was found between perseption of self, family cohesion and perception of future and the status of receiving training on psychological resilience (p < 0.05). A statistically negative significant correlation was determined between the thanatophobia scale and the psychological resilience scale total scores. Conclusions: As a result, it was determined that as the thanatophobia of the nurses increased, their psychological resilience decreased. This situation may negatively affect nurses working in critical departments to provide quality health care to patients. Establishing and maintaining training programs to reduce thanatophobia and increase psychological resilience of nurses working in intensive care and palliative care units will ensure that nurses provide quality health care to the patient and reduce the physiological and psychological wear of nurses. Background: Most patients in specialized palliative care units need nursing support to perform activities of daily living (ADL), such as using a toilet or transferring out of a bed or chair. To deliver high-quality ADL support that facilitates patients' movement and protects nurses' musculoskeletal health, nurses need appropriate knowledge and skills. The objective of this study is to investigate the impact of education based on the "Advanced Kinaesthetics in Palliative care (AdKinPal) program" on the competence in Kinaesthetics, self-efficacy regarding ADL support in end-of-life care and musculoskeletal complaints of nurses from specialist palliative care units. Methods: A pretest–posttest repeated measures design was applied. The study took place in three specialised units for palliative care in Switzerland between June 2018 and April 2020. All the nurses who worked in participating wards (n = 62) and fulfilled the inclusion criteria were asked to participate. The intervention – the AdKinPal program – is an education-based training program conducted for six months. We took measurements using self-administered questionnaires at three points before and after the intervention. Using descriptive statistics, repeated measurement analysis of variance (ANOVA) and independent-samples t-tests, we analysed the participants' demographic characteristics as well as developments over time and relationships between the three outcome variables: Kinaesthetics competence, self-efficacy regarding ADL support in end-of-life care and musculoskeletal complaints. Results: Fifty-nine nurses and one physiotherapist participated, and 38 participants (63%) responded to all three questionnaires. The AdKinPal training improved the nurses' perceived Kinaesthetics competence and self-efficacy regarding ADL support in end-of-life care. Participants who reported lower back, neck or shoulder pain had a significantly lower Kinaesthetics competence. Conclusions: The AdKinPal program can raise nurses' Kinaesthetics competence. Thereby, patients' autonomy and quality of life could be supported, and symptom management could be enhanced in a holistic manner. Furthermore, the AdKinPal program fosters nurses' self-efficacy in ADL support in end-of-life care. A strong sense of self-efficacy enhances professional well-being in many ways.
