This article explores the contested politics of academic authenticity within the African research ecosystem, with particular reference to Nigeria. We show how a fear of "fake" journals is cultivated amongst African academics, with international journal citation indexes being used to adjudicate the credibility of African journals and publishers. The article juxtaposes an ethnographic vignette of a major publisher's training webinar with detailed case studies of two Nigerian commercial publishing houses. Established by entrepreneurial academics in response to limited local journal capacity and the exclusions enacted by Northern editorial gatekeeping, their journals have low article processing charges and, in some cases, minimal peer-review. One publisher was labelled as "predatory" in Beall's list, leading to its journals being removed from Scopus, the Elsevier-owned journal citation index. The other has struggled to get its journals listed in alternative journal databases, such as the Directory of Open Access Journals. The article explores how these citation indexes become contested markers of academic authenticity. We end by reflecting on the implications of this index-linked credibility for the future of African journals and the circulation of research knowledge across the continent. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Since the 1990s, an international consensus has been emerging with respect to the methods used to identify and assess geosites. These conventional methodologies generally differentiate between the intrinsic or scientific-natural dimension and the social dimension in the potential value of the geological elements. The aim of this article is to analyse the possible existence of other concepts that may underlie these criteria and that could be operating as evaluation parameters even though they are not explicitly and formally described as such in the published studies. An exhaustive analysis of articles on geosite inventories published in Science Citation Index journals in the last 15 years revealed a systematic reference to conceptions of magnitude (in the sense of degree of development and physical prominence) in geosite descriptions around the world, and in particular with respect to sites of geomorphological interest. To contrast this indication, we subjected the geosites inventory of Lanzarote (Canary Islands, Spain) to a Magnitude Rule hypothesis. This inventory is part of the Spanish Geosites Inventory (IELIG, for its initials in Spanish), which was carried out using conventional assessment procedures. Applying this rule, according to which each geosite is the most prominent example of its typology within the reference geological domain, we obtained an almost complete match. That is, geomorphological sites that were selected, a priori, according to intrinsic and social dimension were also (or one could even say 'actually') selected, implicitly, on the predominant basis of magnitude. This paper discusses why and how the magnitude parameter may be playing a key role as a subliminal non-explicit driver in the evaluation of geosite relevance, and how this finding may open new perspectives and bring methodological advantages in the inventory of geological heritage. This paper examines the theoretical aspects of Bradford's Law and Leimkuhler Model, their relevance across subject areas, their implementation forms, and their significance in Indian cancer research literature. The study analyzes 16,914 research papers published in 2,277 journals on cancer research in India between 2012 and 2021, sourced from the Web of Science Core Collection database. The total number of citations obtained from these papers is 378,409, and a ranking table of journals and their citations is provided. The first phase of the study applies Bradford's Law in verbal and algebraic forms to identify the journal distribution pattern, revealing a high percentage of error. The Leimkuhler Model estimates the number of journals in the core and successive zones, resulting in a minor percentage error of 0.00030171278%. The study identifies the International Journal of Cancer and PLoS One as core journals, emphasizing their importance in Indian cancer research. The findings can benefit oncologists, researchers, practitioners, and medical librarians in understanding scientific literature distribution and promoting research output effectively. The article outlines the problems related with the lack of an integrated national database for all scientific disciplines in Bulgarian research field. The authors present the results of a research study which focuses on various practices in Bulgarian academic libraries as examples of partially resolving the problem with citation tracking and discuss the changes in the Law for development of academic staff in the Republic of Bulgaria and evaluation of the quality of scientific activities. Results of scientific project "Design and Development of a Prototype of the Information System „Citation Index of Publications by Bulgarian Authors (Social Sciences)" which are discussed at the article's exposition give more attention to the need of establishment of a national citation database connected not only with the research evaluation process on a national level but also playing an important role for shaping of the country profile in the global scientific environment. Citation indexes are by now part of the research infrastructure in use by most scientists: a necessary tool in order to cope with the increasing amounts of scientific literature being published. Commercial citation indexes are designed for the sciences and have uneven coverage and unsatisfactory characteristics for humanities scholars, while no comprehensive citation index is published by a public organisation. We argue that an open citation index for the humanities is desirable, for four reasons: it would greatly improve and accelerate the retrieval of sources, it would offer a way to interlink collections across repositories (such as archives and libraries), it would foster the adoption of metadata standards and best practices by all stakeholders (including publishers) and it would contribute research data to fields such as bibliometrics and science studies. We also suggest that the citation index should be informed by a set of requirements relevant to the humanities. We discuss four such requirements: source coverage must be comprehensive, including books and citations to primary sources; there needs to be chronological depth, as scholarship in the humanities remains relevant over time; the index should be collection driven, leveraging the accumulated thematic collections of specialised research libraries; and it should be rich in context in order to allow for the qualification of each citation, for example, by providing citation excerpts. We detail the fit-for-purpose research infrastructure which can make the Humanities Citation Index a reality. Purpose: This paper aims to reveal the interdisciplinarity of information science (IS) from the perspective of the evolution of theory application. Design/methodology/approach: Select eight representative IS journals as data sources, extract the theories mentioned in the full texts of the research papers and then measure annual interdisciplinarity of IS by conducting theory co-occurrence network analysis, diversity measure and evolution analysis. Findings: As a young and vibrant discipline, IS has been continuously absorbing and internalizing external theoretical knowledge and thus formed a high degree of interdisciplinarity. With the continuous application of some kernel theories, the interdisciplinarity of IS appears to be decreasing and gradually converging into a few neighboring disciplines. Influenced by big data and artificial intelligence, the research paradigm of IS is shifting from a theory centered one to a technology centered one. Research limitations/implications: This study helps to understand the evolution of the interdisciplinarity of IS in the past 21 years. The main limitation is that the data were collected from eight journals indexed by the Social Sciences Citation Index and a small amount of theories might have been omitted. Originality/value: This study identifies the kernel theories in IS research, measures the interdisciplinarity of IS based on the evolution of the co-occurrence network of theory source disciplines and reveals the paradigm shift being happening in IS. Accurately assigning the document type of review articles in citation index databases like Web of Science(WoS) and Scopus is important. This study aims to investigate the document type assignation of review articles in Web of Science, Scopus and Publisher's websites on a large scale. 27,616 papers from 160 journals from 10 review journal series indexed in SCI are analyzed. The document types of these papers labeled on journals' websites, and assigned by WoS and Scopus are retrieved and compared to determine the assigning accuracy and identify the possible reasons for wrongly assigning. For the document type labeled on the website, we further differentiate them into explicit review and implicit review based on whether the website directly indicates it is a review or not. Overall, WoS and Scopus performed similarly, with an average precision of about 99% and recall of about 80%. However, there were some differences between WoS and Scopus across different journal series and within the same journal series. The assigning accuracy of WoS and Scopus for implicit reviews dropped significantly, especially for Scopus. The document types we used as the gold standard were based on the journal websites' labeling which were not manually validated one by one. We only studied the labeling performance for review articles published during 2017-2018 in review journals. Whether this conclusion can be extended to review articles published in non-review journals and most current situation is not very clear. This study provides a reference for the accuracy of document type assigning of review articles in WoS and Scopus, and the identified pattern for assigning implicit reviews may be helpful to better labeling on websites, WoS and Scopus. A growing scholarly interest focused on new media and cross-cultural adaptation research, but a bibliometric analysis with VOSviewer software still needs to be improved. The paper aims to review the literature on new media and cross-cultural adaptation during the past two decades, analyse the current research on new media and cross-cultural adaptation, get an overview of current research, identify the heated topics, and propose future directions. This paper examined 1,1518 English-language articles published in the Web of Science database from 2003 to 2023 using bibliometric techniques and the VOSviewer software. The methodology analysed the variables such as development time, Top 10 countries, organisations, authors, articles, journals, and co-occurrence keywords in the bibliometric analysis. A review of the past 20 years shows a significant increase in excellent research publications on new media and cross-cultural adaptation. Regarding the region of publications, the number of publications in the United States is the absolute leader, followed by China, the United Kingdom, Australia, Spain, and Germany. However, the highest average number of citations is for Germany. As seen from the five categorised clusters, cross-cultural studies on social media use, Internet addiction, psychological health issues, and international students have become a growing concern in recent years. The Spanish National Commission for the Assessment of the Scientific Activity (CNEAI) used the indexes from the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) and from Scopus as the reference gold standards to assess the researchers' activity, giving different value to each database. These databases provide several citation indexes for the evaluation and classification of journals from which researchers' assessment is derived. As for this, an archival study to compare the indexes and classification of journals in both databases was performed. The Total Cites, Journal Impact Factor (JIF) and Eigenfactor Score from the JCR, and SJR, CiteScore and SNIP from Scopus for a six-year period, 2012-2017, for the journals indexed in the psychology category, were recovered. The results showed that the three Scopus indexes were interchangeable sharing, at least, 71.4% of the variance, and more that 64% with the JIF, not being numerically interchangeable. As these results are not subject to variation, they will stand stable. In relation to the classification of the journals in quartiles, Scopus biasing positively. The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between traditional citation indexes representing hot papers in the field of "Clinical Medicine" and their bookmarking and readership in "Mendeley software". The citation counts of hot papers were extracted from Essential Science Indicators (ESI) and Web of Science (WoS). As an applied research adopting a descriptive-exploratory method, the present study used the Essential Science Indicators to retrieve hot articles published between 2014 and 2016, indexed in the category "Medical Sciences". Each record was then searched in Mendeley to obtain the number of readership of the paper and the academic status of the users. The results showed a significant positive correlation between Mendeley readership and citation indexes in both ESI and WoS. Moreover, the most frequently-cited articles in both databases attracted more readers in Mendeley than lowly-cited publications and both hypotheses were confirmed. Moreover, the findings revealed that Mendeley users had assigned a total number of 3847 tags to the hot papers, with the tags ranging in frequency from zero to 38 for individual articles. Compared with author keywords and Plus, about 10 percent of users' tags were either meaningless or repetitive. The value of present study shows that "Mendeley Sofware" with the possibility of tagging articles, can be used to create a searchable folksonomy of information and as a source of data in information retrieval studies, help professionals to manage their literatures and make their research life easier. The scientific research output of individuals and institutions is commonly evaluated by the number of publications in journals with high impact factor and their corresponding citations. However, the interdisciplinary character of journals reporting advances in conservation science favors their spread over different categories of the Journal Citation Report (JCR). Here we report an analysis of the evolution of the impact factor, the percentile, and the citations on the JCR indexed conservation journals over the last ten years. Our analysis shows that of the 57 conservation journals indexed in the JCR, only eight of them have an impact factor. These journals are distributed across different categories in the Science Citation Index (SCI) and Social Science Citation Index (SSCI), and these categories are sometimes not suitable and decrease their metric impact. This analysis was complemented by a worldwide survey of conservation professionals on their opinions about publishing in these journals. The survey showed two different perspectives about conservation science journals in relation to the background and work of the responders. Conservators and restorers prefer conservation journals with case studies; while researchers prefer high-impact journals, even if they lie outside of the conservation area, so the overall impact factor of conservation journals remains low (low JIF, low Q values). Citation tracking (CT) collects references with citation relationships to pertinent references that are already known. This scoping review maps the benefit of and the tools and terminology used for CT in health‐related systematic literature searching. We included methodological studies on evidence retrieval by CT in health‐related literature searching without restrictions on study design, language, or publication date. We searched MEDLINE/Ovid, Web of Science Core Collection, CINAHL/EBSCOhost, LLISFT/EBSCOhost, LISTA/EBSCOhost, conducted web searching via Google Scholar, backward/forward CT of included studies and pertinent reviews, and contacting of experts. Two reviewers independently assessed eligibility. Data extraction and analysis were performed by one reviewer and checked by another. We screened 11,861 references and included 47 studies published between 1985 and 2021. Most studies (96%) assessed the benefit of CT either as supplementary or primary/stand‐alone search method. Added value of CT for evidence retrieval was found by 96% of them. Science Citation Index and Social Sciences Citation Index were the most common citation indexes used. Application of multiple citation indexes in parallel, co‐citing or co‐cited references, CT iterations, or software tools was rare. CT terminology was heterogeneous and frequently ambiguous. The use of CT showed an added value in most of the identified studies; however, the benefit of CT in health‐related systematic literature searching likely depends on multiple factors that could not be assessed with certainty. Erving Goffman has a reputation as an intellectual maverick who did not fit neatly into any disciplinary mold. His failure to adhere to professional conventions and occasionally off-putting demeanor are mentioned as an aside that has little to do with his oversize influence on the science of society. This paper advances a thesis that Goffman's status as the most cited American sociologist and widespread influence across social science is related to his principled refusal to fit his scholarship into prevailing scholarly canons. The argument is made that Goffman shared with his mentor, Everett Hughes, misgivings about the narrow professional focus in contemporary sociology, that his cross-disciplinary approach advanced social inquiry beyond its traditional confines, and that his colloquial style and penchant for long essays helped disseminate his ideas. The discussion starts with an overview of Goffman's professional career, after which it moves to the reception of his ideas by fellow sociologists and the impact of his work on neighboring disciplines. The study draws on the interviews, correspondence, and other documents assembled in the Erving Goffman Archives, as well as on several social science citation indexes and datasets illuminating Goffman's stature in various fields of scholarship. This paper provides information on the characteristics of the research output from the chemistry and biochemistry faculty publications at the University of Arkansas over a ten-year period (2011–2020). The faculty publications were used to identify (a) a core set of journals and other resources they are publishing in and citing over this period; (b) the characteristics of the journals in which they publish and cite (i.e., scatter of publications, Bradford distribution, major publishers, ranking and subject categories based on the Journal citation Reports (JCR); (3) the degree of openness of their publications; their citation advantage, if any, using both the Web of Science and SciFinder; and (4) the age of resources that are referenced. Based on the findings, the authors were able to gain a very good overview of the characteristics of the research publications and were able to identify how well the library is catering to those needs. The Web of Science citation indexes were originally intended to serve as research aids, to provide easy-to-use bibliographic aids for authors, help authors identify colleagues who have cited their work, and assist librarians in making selections among journals. But they were soon carried by the tidal waves of scientism and data-ism, first in business management and governance, and then also in scholarly research, to near-monopolistic control of the business of journals evaluation in the United States (though increasingly challenged in some areas by the more recent but similar Scopus citation indexes). With that dominance, earlier tentative generalizations based on limited research gradually became more and more rigidified “laws” that have been strictly enforced: that quality can be scientifically measured by the number of articles that cite the article or a particular journal, and, by extension, that the importance and contribution of a scholar’s article, like that of a journal, can be determined by its “impact factor” measured by counting the number of articles citing it. Those “laws” came to be applied first to the natural sciences, extended to the social sciences, and finally also to major spheres of the arts and humanities. Today, they have come to dominate the entire continuum of disciplines and fields ranging from the most universalist of the natural sciences, in which truths may be established by reproducible experiments, to the more particularist social sciences, and still more particularist arts and humanities, in which theories, even facts, are far more contested and tentative. As we move across the spectrum from the more universalist end of natural sciences toward the more particularist end of the social sciences and arts and humanities, such methods have tended to violate ever more the fundamental nature and realities of scholarly research. However, once entrenched, the citation indexes business has shown the same tendencies as any monopolistic entity toward resisting change and transparency. Where those tendencies have been adopted by a centralized government for bureaucratized control, as in China, the misuses and abuses of citation indexes have been further magnified. This article ends by calling for developing more substantive, genuinely peer-review-based methods of evaluation; for relying more on alternative nonprofit bibliographic and data services; and for greater inclusivity, especially with regard to scholarship in languages other than English. Citation searching and bibliometrics are terms foreign to many chemists and educators, yet well-known and used by librarians and information specialists. This article aims to help chemistry students, educators, and other readers of this Journal to better appreciate and use these powerful and profound methods. Although these subjects have been described previously, several developments in the methods and new alternative metrics have occurred in the intervening 16 years, so the field is being reviewed again. This research aims to determine research trends regarding archivists in Scopus-indexed journals. The research method used is bibliometric analysis, with data collection from the Scopus database, carried out on September 8, 2023, using the keyword "Archivist" from 2013 to 2022 and specifically for final publications with journal type. Data is processed and analyzed using Publish or Perish (PoP) and VOSviewer to display visualization results. The research results concluded that the number of publications regarding archivists in the last ten years was 1241 documents. American Archivist became the most dominant publication source by publishing 94 documents. Poole was the most prolific writer, and the United States was the most contributing country by publishing 439 documents. The document type in articles is the largest, with 1024. Social Science is the subject area most often discussed in archivist topics. The total number of publication citations regarding archivists is 4528. Publication trends based on the appearance of a minimum of ten keywords are divided into five clusters, with the most dominant keywords being "metadata treatment, archives, human, digitization, and librarians." The publication trend seen from the latest publication year discusses "artificial intelligence," which has 5 (five) related links: artificial intelligence-copyright, artificial intelligence-photography, artificial intelligence-automation, artificial intelligence-digitization, and artificial intelligence-metadata. This paper presents the results of the application of a holistic procedure for a seismic vulnerability analysis of complex masonry aggregates which are ascribable as cultural heritage buildings. The methodological framework allowed us to properly identify the structural units comprising a historical palace through a hierarchical approach combining integrated geometrical and structural surveys with non-destructive (ND) and minor destructive (MD) techniques. The investigations were conducted on a significant palace located in the historical center of Florence, the Palagio di Parte Guelfa. The building covers an entire urban block, as it is constituted by many structural units developed over the centuries since the Roman period. The palace incorporates pre-existing structures, such as the Church of Santa Maria Sopra Porta and medieval terraced houses. Over the decades, different restorations and renovations have been carried out, including by Filippo Brunelleschi in the XV century and by Vasari in the XVI. Nowadays, the building constitutes an urban cluster. Our seismic vulnerability analysis took advantage of a specific knowledge path which was suitable for the identification of the different structural units of the palace. To this end, the historical evolution of the construction was traced through bibliographic research and ND surveys. We finally assessed the seismic performance of the different units according to different approaches, i.e., a rapid assessment based on simplified computations at the global scale, and a kinematic analysis for local phenomena. Background: Several studies have documented the production of wasteful research, defined as research of no scientific importance and/or not meeting societal needs. We argue that this redundancy in research may to a large degree be due to the lack of a systematic evaluation of the best available evidence and/or of studies assessing societal needs. Objectives: The aim of this scoping review is to (A) identify meta-research studies evaluating if redundancy is present within biomedical research, and if so, assessing the prevalence of such redundancy, and (B) to identify meta-research studies evaluating if researchers had been trying to minimise or avoid redundancy. Eligibility criteria: Meta-research studies (empirical studies) were eligible if they evaluated whether redundancy was present and to what degree; whether health researchers referred to all earlier similar studies when justifying and designing a new study and/or when placing new results in the context of earlier similar trials; and whether health researchers systematically and transparently considered end users' perspectives when justifying and designing a new study. Sources of evidence: The initial overall search was conducted in MEDLINE, Embase via Ovid, CINAHL, Web of Science, Social Sciences Citation Index, Arts & Humanities Citation Index, and the Cochrane Methodology Register from inception to June 2015. A 2nd search included MEDLINE and Embase via Ovid and covered January 2015 to 26 May 2021. No publication date or language restrictions were applied. Charting methods: Charting methods included description of the included studies, bibliometric mapping, and presentation of possible research gaps in the identified meta-research. Results: We identified 69 meta-research studies. Thirty-four (49%) of these evaluated the prevalence of redundancy and 42 (61%) studies evaluated the prevalence of a systematic and transparent use of earlier similar studies when justifying and designing new studies, and/or when placing new results in context, with seven (10%) studies addressing both aspects. Only one (1%) study assessed if the perspectives of end users had been used to inform the justification and design of a new study. Among the included meta-research studies evaluating whether redundancy was present, only two of nine health domains (medical areas) and only two of 10 research topics (different methodological types) were represented. Similarly, among the included meta-research studies evaluating whether researchers had been trying to minimise or avoid redundancy, only one of nine health domains and only one of 10 research topics were represented. Conclusions that relate to the review questions and objectives: Even with 69 included meta-research studies, there was a lack of information for most health domains and research topics. However, as most included studies were evaluating across different domains, there is a clear indication of a high prevalence of redundancy and a low prevalence of trying to minimise or avoid redundancy. In addition, only one meta-research study evaluated whether the perspectives of end users were used to inform the justification and design of a new study. Background: Due to the growing need to provide evidence syntheses under time constraints, researchers have begun focusing on the exploration of rapid review methods, which often employ single-reviewer literature screening. However, single-reviewer screening misses, on average, 13% of relevant studies, compared to 3% with dual-reviewer screening. Little guidance exists regarding methods to recover studies falsely excluded during literature screening. Likewise, it is unclear whether specific study characteristics can predict an increased risk of false exclusion. This systematic review aimed to identify supplementary search methods that can be used to recover studies falsely excluded during literature screening. Moreover, it strove to identify study-level predictors that indicate an elevated risk of false exclusions of studies during literature screening. Methods: We performed literature searches for eligible studies in MEDLINE, Science Citation Index Expanded, Social Sciences Citation Index, Current Contents Connect, Embase, Epistemonikos.org, and Information Science & Technology Abstracts from 1999 to June 23, 2020. We searched for gray literature, checked reference lists, and conducted hand searches in two relevant journals and similar article searches current to January 28, 2021. Two investigators independently screened the literature; one investigator performed the data extraction, and a second investigator checked for correctness and completeness. Two reviewers assessed the risk of bias of eligible studies. We synthesized the results narratively. Results: Three method studies, two with a case-study design and one with a case-series design, met the inclusion criteria. One study reported that all falsely excluded publications (8%) could be recovered through reference list checking compared to other supplementary search methods. No included methods study analyzed the impact of recovered studies on conclusions or meta-analyses. Two studies reported that up to 8% of studies were falsely excluded due to uninformative titles and abstracts, and one study showed that 11% of non-English studies were falsely excluded. Conclusions: Due to the limited evidence based on two case studies and one case series, we can draw no firm conclusion about the most reliable and most valid method to recover studies falsely excluded during literature screening or about the characteristics that might predict a higher risk of false exclusion. Bibliometric analysis of 3105 publications retrieved from the Scopus database was conducted to evaluate bibliographic content of scientific output on social sciences in Vietnam, for the 2000–2019 period. Our main findings show that the number of publications on social sciences from Vietnam has increased significantly over the last two decades, and there was a spike in the scientific output for the recent three years when the number of publications accounted for 53.76% of the collection. The most productive authors came from a few public research institutes with strong resources as the top 10 institutions participated in 44.22% of the collection. Vietnamese scholars tend not to submit their works to high-ranking journals since five Q1 journals in the top 10 publishing journals published only 6.17% of the collection. For international collaboration, Australia and the United States ranked first and second based on the number of publications and citations. Other countries in top 10 mostly located in Europe and Asia. Research topics were diverse focusing on gender, poverty, HIV, higher education and sustainable development. Google Scholar (http: / /scholar.google.com) provides a new method of locating potentially relevant articles on a given subject by identifying subsequent articles that cite a previously published article. An important feature of Google Scholar is that researchers can use it to trace interconnections among authors citing articles on the same topic and to determine the frequency with which others cite a specific article, as it has a "cited by feature. This study begins with an overview of how to use Google Scholar for citation analysis and identifies advanced search techniques not well documented by Google Scholar. This study also compares the citation counts provided by Web of Science and Google Scholar for articles in the field of "Webometrics." It makes several suggestions for improving Google Scholar. The International Neurourology Journal (Int Neurourol J, INJ) is a quarterly international journal that publishes high-quality research papers that provide the most significant and promising achievements in the fields of clinical neurourology and fundamental science. The purpose of the paper is to report the findings of Saudi researchers' academic performance on the topic of COVID-19. In addition, the paper explored the contribution of Saudi Arabia in the area and how Saudi Arabia is doing compared to other Arab countries The study adopted bibliometrix R to map the literature on the topic published by Saudi scholars. A total number of 3242 documents were retrieved from the Web of Science database and examined Using the software to mine information about journals, articles, authors, citations, keywords and countries. The analysis revealed that Saudi scholars had published a fair amount of COVID-19 studies in a small timespan. Scholars from Saudi Arabia have initiated a strong collaboration with other researchers worldwide. The data revealed that Saudi scholars have collaborated with scholars All over the world. Overall, Saudi Arabia had its share of global contribution on the subject (19th place). The literature on patent analysis is quite extensive, containing a wide variety of studies. The idea has been widely discussed in the literature in recent years as innovation and globalization have increased in frequency in studies. The literature does not contain any research that integrates content analysis with bibliometric mapping analysis, despite the fact that a number of studies have been conducted on the subject. Hence, within the parameters of this study, a bibliometric mapping analysis of 1006 papers covering "patent analysis" and indexed in the Web of Science database, as well as a content analysis of the 50 most cited papers, was conducted. Therefore, this paper aims to determine the common words, keywords, journals published, authors, and universities of affiliation of 1006 studies, focusing on the 50 most cited studies. The study shows that "technology" is most frequently used as a word in summary and keywords. The reason for this can be explained by the fact that technology has the greatest impact on patenting. The Journal of Gay & Lesbian Mental Health (JGLMH) has experienced significant growth over the past decade. The number of article downloads has quadrupled from 2013 to 2023, and submissions to the journal have tripled during the same period. The acceptance rate has improved, and the journal has become more international in terms of submissions. Additionally, the journal's impact in terms of citations has increased, and it is now indexed on the Emerging Sources Citation Index. The current Editor-in-Chief, Christopher A. McIntosh, will be passing the torch to Dr. Mark Bradley, who will take over as the new Editor-in-Chief starting with Volume 29. The study highlights the distribution citations in global Synthetic Biology research output during 2005-2019. The primary data for the analysis were retrieved from the Web of Science core collection database. This study illustrates various vital aspects like – yearwise distribution of citations, relative growth rate and doubling time of citations, citation per paper, citation pattern, distribution of cited and non-cited publications, and highly cited publications in Synthetic Biology. The results revealed that the publications on Synthetic Biology attracted a reasonably good number of citations during the period under evaluation. A total of 12012 publications received 329631citations with an average number of citations per publication value of 27.44. Around 90.27 percent of total publications was received at least one or more citations. There among 1169 (9.73%) publications did not have any citations. It was found that the relative growth rate of citations decreased steadily. At the same time, the value of doubling the time of citations was increased during this period. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The study analysed Croatian journals covered by Web of Science (WoS) Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) and Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) over three time periods. The first two periods were the periods of inclusion of croatian journals in SCIE/SSCI, and the third period was the period of exclusion of journals. In 1999, there were 12 Croatian journals indexed, and in 2011, mostly as a result of the WoS Regional Expansion Programme, there were 50 Croatian journals covered by SCIE/SSCI. The IF range of the Croatian journals showed an increase over the years from 1999 to 2011, but most journals remained in the fourth quartile (Q4). Although Croatia is considered as a country from the scientific periphery, in comparison with neighbouring Italy, Hungary, Slovenia, and Serbia in 2005, 2011, and 2018, Croatia had a permanently strong journal representation in JCR. In 1999 and 2011, the revista española de pedagogía published two similar studies reviewing the Spanish production in the field of education indexed in the Social Sciences Education Index (SSCI) database. The first study covered the period 1988-1997 and the second 1998-2009. Once enough time had passed, a quasi-replica study of the previous ones was undertaken for the period 2010-2020. Objectives: To carry out a scientometric review of Spanish production in educational research indexed in the SSCI database of the Web of Science (WoS) in the period from 2010 to 2020. The intention is to inform the Spanish educational community of its research achievements with visibility and international impact and to draw supported scientometric conclusions about Spanish educational research. Method: A descriptive-quantitative (scientometric) design has been used on an operating sample of 7016 documents (articles and reviews) recovered after an advanced search in the SSCI database by deliberate or purposive sampling. This study may also be characterized as secondary, since documents are used which have already been published, and revisional as regards research production. Results: Results related to productivity and citation are provided. The diachronic production shows an increasing trend fitted to a polynomial function. English (68.5%) and Spanish (30.3%) are the main languages of expression of such production. The most common subject areas of the Web of Science with educational areas are linguistics, and also Rehabilitation and Developmental Psychology. The institutional production is mostly of university origin, with the top ten universities listed in the following order: Barcelona, Autónoma Barcelona, Valencia, Granada, País Vasco, Sevilla, Autónoma Madrid, Nacional a Distancia, Complutense and Oviedo. International collaboration is mainly established with the following countries: USA (5.01%), England (3.9%), Chile (2.32%), Portugal (2.02 %) and the Netherlands (1.56%). The citation results give a Hirsch h index of 89, with an increasing diachronic trend fitted to both a polynomial and an exponential model. Documents were also recovered that are citation classics, with more than 200 citations; the journal Computers & Education being the body where the most quoted Spanish educational research is published. The most active research fronts are inferred from the citation classics and by means of a word cloud of terms included in the titles; specifically: General Education, Educational Computing and Educational Evaluation. Discussion: The results obtained and their adaptation to general laws of Scientometrics bear witness to the fertility of Spanish educational research and its adjustment to patterns typical of science. Taking into consideration two studies prior to this one, and after successive comparisons, Spanish achievements are considered to be optimistic given their abundance, impact and international visibility. Conclusion: The way in which Spanish educational research, from very limited initial stages, has followed a complex path of improvement to achieve scientometric patterns which are comparable to those of other scientific disciplines is confirmed. A full understanding of the development and re-production of IPE is only possible with an appreciation of its disciplinary politics. This institutionalises four aspects of academic inquiry: (a) what is considered admissible work in the field, (b) how work should be conducted and where it should be published (c) where the field's legitimate boundaries are, and (d) 'external relations' with cognate disciplines. Academic gatekeepers in positions of disciplinary influence shape perceptions about appropriate conduct within the field, what constitutes its core, and what lies outside its realm. Disciplinary political definitions of the field's nature and limits are manifest in the writing of texts introducing students to IPE. Particularly important are origin stories, which are always partly about directing and coordinating scholarly activity in the present and for the future. Disciplinary history entails forgetting certain events, scholars and works that do not fit the prevailing chronology, marginalising or excluding some topics, debates and questions from the core of the field. We evidence our claims about the boundary work done in narrating IPE's origins through bibliometric mapping and network analysis of IPE citation patterns and practices. Evaluating academic papers and groups is important in scholar evaluation and literature retrieval. However, current evaluation indices, which pay excessive attention to the citation number rather than the citation importance and unidirectionality, are relatively simple. This study proposes new evaluation indices for papers and groups. First, an improved PageRank (PR) algorithm introducing citation importance is proposed to obtain a new citation-based paper index (CPI) via a pre-ranking and fine-tuning strategy. Second, to evaluate the paper's influence inside and outside its research field, the focus citation-based paper index (FCPI) and diversity citation-based paper index (DCPI) are proposed based on topic similarity and diversity, respectively. Third, aside from the statistical indices for academic papers, we propose a foreign academic degree of dependence (FAD) to characterise the dependence between two academic groups. A growing number of publications have shown that resveratrol has anticancer effects and has become a hotspot in cancer research. The purpose of this study is to analyze the academic results and research trends in resveratrol within the field of anticancer and to predict the future trends in this field. We conducted a literature search for resveratrol in anticancer research from 2003 to 2022 using the Science Citation Index Expanded of the Web of Science Core Collection. The visualization software was used to perform the bibliometric analysis. A total of 1463 publications from 2003 to 2022 were retrieved. China had the highest number of publications. Taipei Medical University became the research institution with the largest number of publications worldwide. The journals with the highest output and co‐citation frequency were Molecules and Cancer Research. Levenson, Anait S and Jaeger, Walter published the largest number of papers. Jang, MS was the most co‐cited author. Timeline View shows trends and relationship between research topics over time and suggests that the emerging frontier of resveratrol in anticancer may be "resveratrol induces apoptosis." As more and more evidence shows the important role of resveratrol in anticancer, further research on its mechanisms and target discovery may become a major direction for future research. The bibliometric analysis findings of this study will significantly contribute to scholars' comprehensive understanding of the anticancer effects and mechanisms of action of resveratrol, aiding in delineating research hotspots and frontier directions within this field, thereby providing guidance for future investigations. Der Beitrag soll zeigen, welche fortgeschrittenen bibliometrischen und szientometrischen Daten für ein bewährtes Sample von 104 österreichischen Politikwissenschaftler*innen und 51 transnationalen Verlagsunternehmen enge statistische Beziehungen zwischen Indikatoren der Präsenz von Wissenschaftler*innen und transnationalen Verlagsunternehmen in den akademischen Lehrveranstaltungen der Welt (Classroom Citation, gemessen mit Open Syllabus) und anderen, herkömmlicheren bibliometrischen und szientometrischen Indikatoren (Libcitation gemessen mit dem OCLC Worldcat, sowie der H-Index der Zitierung in den vom System Scopus erfassten Fachzeitschriften der Welt bzw. dem Book Citation Index) bestehen. Die statistischen Berechnungen zeigen, basierend auf den Faktorenanalysen, die engen statistischen Beziehungen zwischen diesen Dimensionen. Diese Ergebnisse sind insbesondere in den Tabellen 5 und 9 dieser Arbeit (Komponentenkorrelationen) ableitbar. Die multivariaten Rankings, die auf den mit den Eigenwerten gewichteten Factorscores beruhen, zeigen in der Tabelle 6, welche 15 österreichischen Politikwissenschaftler*innen sich auf den Weltmärkten der Wissenschaften am besten bewährten. Außerdem zeigen diese Methoden in Tabelle 10 auch, dass die im Beitrag analysierten führenden akademischen Verlage der Welt insbesondere für Wissenschaftler*innen der jüngeren Generation gute Weggefährten sein werden, um in Zeiten institutioneller und finanzieller Unsicherheit die Ergebnisse der Wissenschaft verlässlich um den Globus zu verbreiten und die akademischen Karrieren zu befördern. The paper presents advanced bibliometric and scientometric data collected on a tried sample of 104 Austrian political scientists and 51 transnational publishing companies that reveal close statistical links between indicators of a strong presence of scientists and transnational publishing companies in academic teaching classes across the globe (Classroom Citation measured using Open Syllabus) and other, more traditional bibliometric and scientometric indicators (Libcitation measured using OCLC Worldcat and the H-index of citations in specialist journals worldwide, or the Book Citation Index, both monitored by the Scopus system). The statistical calculations, based on factor analysis, show a close statistical relationship between these dimensions. Tables 5 and 9 in this paper (component correlations) corroborate the findings. The multivariant rankings based on eigenvalue factor scores in Table 6 show the 15 Austrian political scientists who proved most successful in the global scientific market. Moreover, the methods in Table 10 indicate that, for early-career scientists, the globally leading academic publishers analysed in this paper are reliable partners in the dissemination of scientific findings across the globe and the promotion of academic careers in a period of institutional and financial uncertainties. The Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS) is the main means of scientific communication within international business. It has been published since 1970 and is a world reference. The main objective of this work is to develop a bibliometric analysis of the characteristics of JIBS publications from 1970 to 2020. To achieve this aim, a bibliometric performance analysis was carried out in a database with 1,697 articles published during the first 51 years of JIBS. Some of the main bibliometric indicators were extracted from the articles, and the 25 most-cited articles in JIBS were identified. Likewise, for a better analysis, the ATLAS.ti software was used, through which a word cloud and a network of codes were generated. The results of the bibliometric performance analysis indicate that the JIBS has increased its level of citation, as well as the number of articles and that the authors from the United States have published the most in the journal. The field of Communication in Spain is analyzed, contextualizing Spanish output at a global and local level between the years 2000 and 2020. Based on a descriptive bibliometric analysis of the Communication category of the Social Sciences Citation Index database, part of Web of Science, the impact of the main countries is identified. The weight of the output in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) database between 2015 and 2020 is also studied. An analysis of the output by universities in Spain for the period 2010–2020 is also carried out, comparing it with the impact and the works in the first quartile. The results reveal that Spain has been the fourth country in terms of output in Communication in the last decade and that Austria stands out as the country whose works have the greatest impact. It is also observed that 67% of Spain’s works in Communication are published in journals that are indexed in ESCI. The impact of Spanish universities is very close to the world average. The Universitat Pompeu Fabra stands out, publishing the most articles and, furthermore, being the Spanish university with most papers in the first quartile of the JCR in Communication between 2010 and 2020. The study of the Shanghai Ranking by area includes eight Spanish universities, only three of which have output in Communication that comes mainly from professors in this area. The role of the Spanish journals Comunicar and Profesional de la información is notable, as they publish a large fraction of the output by Spanish universities in the Communication field. Finally, this paper presents the challenges of research in Communication, as well as those related to its bibliometric analysis, and a reflection on the problems that affect scientific production and research in this subject area. To know which are the most effective preventive interventions applied in school environments to reduce or delay the consumption of alcohol and tobacco in adolescents and their characteristics. Method: based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyzes (PRISMA), a systematic review of the literature was carried out using the following databases: PubMed, Web of science in the Social Science Citation Index, Science Citation Index Expanded and Emergin Sources Citation Index, as well as Scopus and other sources. Results: 10 articles were included in the analysis in which it was found that the interventions that had the characteristic of relying on theory demonstrated greater effectiveness; followed by multicomponent interventions. Conclusions: The use of a theory as support for the intervention was the characteristic that added more weight to the effectiveness of the interventions, as well as those that used some technological component. Purpose: This study distinguishes the academic influence of different papers published in journals of the same subject or field based on the modification of the journal impact factor. Design/methodology/approach: Taking SSCI journals in library and information science (LIS) as the research object, the authors first explore the skewness degree of the citation distribution of journal articles. Then, we define the paper citation ratio as the weight of impact factor to modify the journal impact factor for the evaluation of papers, namely the weighted impact factor. The authors further explore the feasibility of the weighted impact factor in evaluating papers. Findings: The research results show that different types of skewness exist in the citation distribution of journal papers. Particularly, 94% of journal paper citations are highly skewed, while the rest are moderately skewed. The weighted impact factor has a closer correlation with the citation frequency of papers than the journal impact factor. It resolves the issue that the journal impact factor tends to exaggerate the influence of low-cited papers in journals with high impact factors or weaken the influence of high-cited papers in journals with low impact factors. Originality/value: The weighted impact factor is constructed based on the skewness of the citation distribution of journal articles. It provides a new method to distinguish the academic influence of different papers published in journals of the same subject or field, then avoids the situation that papers published in the same journal having the same academic impact. Introduction: The digital scientific journals of the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program are considered of fundamental importance for the dissemination of knowledge produced by researchers in different areas. Objective: This article aims to describe the monitoring of a journal as a digital scientific journal linked to a Stricto Sensu postgraduate Program, in search of improving its qualification during the quadrennium 2018-2021.
