To determine the rate at which abstracts orally presented at the ECR 2000 were published between 2000-2004, and to identify predictive factors of publication and differences between abstracts and subsequently published papers. Specific search profiles were devised to retrieve items from the Medline database. From 1020 abstracts originating from 39 countries, 479 articles (publication rate 47%) were subsequently published in 139 Medline-indexed journals, most frequently in European Radiology (14%). Country of origin statistically (P<0.0001) influences the subsequent publication of the abstract, Germany having the highest number of presentations (n=343) and derived articles (publication rate 54%). Abstracts presented by authors from the USA (n=21) had the highest publication rate (76%). Most papers were published within the first 3 years after the meeting, as original articles and in English-language journals. Both the study sample size and the first author frequently changed. Chest and cardiac studies had the highest publication rates (56%, both). In summary, abstracts presented at the ECR 2000 had a high publication rate in Medline-indexed journals. Country of origin and subspecialty of presentation appeared to influence subsequent full publication. More articles were published in European Radiology than in other journal. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Annual Congress of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine took place in Copenhagen on October 13–17, 2007. The event is the major scientific and professional effort in the field of nuclear medicine in Europe. The most important developments in the fields of instrumentation, radionuclide production, radiochemistry, radiotherapy, as well as the clinical imaging fields of neurology, cardiology, oncology, and general sciences were reported. The Convention on the Future of Europe was created to draw up a constitution for an enlarged European Union. The Convention contained representatives of member states, acceding states, national parliaments and European Union institutions, as well as the Committee of the Regions. Regional representatives within the Convention and external organizations such as the Conference of Regional Legislative Assemblies in Europe (CALRE) sought to lobby the Convention in pursuit of regional interests which had been part of the regional agenda since Maastricht. This paper examines the various efforts by the regional lobby to influence the Convention and, in particular, the emergence of the `constitutional' regions as a more coherent representative of Europe's third level of government. It argues that regional interests were largely marginalized within the Convention but that regional demands might be reinserted into a new European constitution given regional lobbying of national governments in advance of the 2004 intergovernmental conference in addition to intergovernmental bargaining and negotiations at the intergovernmental conference (ICC) itself. This article discusses various matters on migration. The Political Participation of Ethnic Minorities in Europe workshop was organized by the European Consortium for Political Research and was held at the Leyden University, The Netherlands, on April 2 to 8, 1993. This workshop explores the factors which constrain or facilitate the participation of ethnic minorities in the political process and the extent to which such participation has furthered or diluted the pursuit of ethnically-based interests. Meanwhile, the Annual Meeting of the American Catholic Historical Association: Philadelphia was held April 16 to 17, 1993. It included the following papers: The American Catholic Response to Recent Immigration, by M. L. Sullivan; Ybor City Latins and the Church, by M. J. McNally; and Puerto Ricans and the Archdiocesan of Chicago, 1963-1970, by T. Kelliher. In other matters, The Forum for Researchers on Islam in Europe was established to encourage the development of information and interdisciplinary research on Islam and Muslim populations in Europe. It foresees a publication of a newsletter, directory of members, publication of an international bibliography in 1993, a symposium in 1994, and an international conference in 1995.

Information about several papers discussed at a conference on wound management is presented. The objective of the event was to increase the focus on the vital areas of innovation, education and implementation within wound healing and wound management. During the conference, the latest position document on the management of wound infection was launched by the European Wound Management Association. Furthermore, a number of abstracts of research were also presented.
