Abstract Except for a few stick insects that are economically valuable, most species be considered to be forest pests, so it is extremely important to obtain plant host-use information of more stick insects. In this paper, the plant hosts of three species of stick insects were recorded for the first time. We also discovered these stick insects can feed upon the flowers or leaves of plants. Lopaphus unidentatus (Chen & He, 1995) (Phasmida: Lonchodidae) attacked Hypericum choisianum Wall. ex N. Robson, 1973 (Hypericaceae), Leurophasma dolichocercum Bi, 1995 (Phasmida: Aschiphasmatidae) attacked Antenoron filiforme (Thunb.) Roberty & Vautier, 1964 (Polygonaceae) and Megalophasma granulatum Bi, 1995 (Phasmida: Lonchodidae) attacked Debregeasia orientalis C. J. Chen, 1991 (Urticaceae). Finally, we were lucky enough to also obtain photographs of them mating and feeding.

Seedlings of Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench were subjected to 180 mM NaCl with or without 0.25 mM spermine (SPM) for 7 d. NaCl treatment resulted in the inhibition of growth and increased the content of free proline, soluble protein and malondialdehyde (MDA). Additionally, it also enhanced the activity of catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POX) in both shoots and roots, while decreased that of glutathione reductase (GR). When exogenous spermine was added to the test solution, the growth of sweet sorghum seedlings was improved, and a smaller increase in the free proline and MDA contents was observed. The addition of spermine also partially increased the activities of POX and GR, but had no effects on soluble protein content or the activity of CAT.

The article details a study of the therapeutic effects and adverse reactions of the calcitonin gene-related peptide receptor antagonists (PRA), olcegepant and telcagepant, for the treatment of acute migraine. The researchers measured the rates of pain relief (PR) and pain-free in patients after two and 24 hours of the injection of the PRA. They found that the PR rate has increased two hours after olcegepant treatment as compared with placebo. They concluded that the PRA are safe and effective.
