BACKGROUND: Studies have shown that posterior cruciate ligament injuries are associated with the anatomical morphology of the knee joint. OBJECTIVE: To explore anatomical morphological risk factors for posterior cruciate ligament injury. METHODS: The imaging data of 142 patients who visited Affiliated Hospital of Binzhou Medical University for knee joint problems from January 2015 to August 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. They were divided into posterior cruciate ligament injury group (n=71, including 49 males and 22 females) and posterior cruciate ligament intact group (n=71, including 49 males and 22 females). Intercondylar notch width, intercondylar notch height, bicondyle width, notch width index, angle of intercondylar notch, Blumensaat’s line inlication angle, medial tibial spine height, lateral tibial spine height, tibial spine width, tibiofemoral consistency index, tibial plateau anterior-posterior diameter, medial tibial depth and patellar tendon-tibial shaft angle were measured on MRI images. Posterior tibial slope was measured on X-ray images. The above indicators were included in the logistic regression analysis for investigation. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) Univariate logistic regression analysis in men showed that tibial spine width, tibiofemoral consistency index, medial tibial depth, and posterior tibial slope were associated with posterior cruciate ligament injury (P < 0.05). Multivariate binary logistic regression analysis showed that tibiofemoral consistency index and medial tibial depth were associated with posterior cruciate ligament damage (P < 0.05). (2) Univariate logistic regression analysis in women showed that medial tibial spine height, lateral tibial spine height, tibial spine width, and posterior tibial slope were associated with posterior cruciate ligament injury (P < 0.05). Multivariate binary logistic regression analysis showed that posterior tibial slope was associated with posterior cruciate ligament damage (P < 0.05). (3) The receiver operating characteristic curve showed that tibiofemoral consistency index, medial tibial depth and posterior tibial slope had a certain predictive value on posterior cruciate ligament damage. (4) These findings suggest that anatomical morphological risk factors for posterior cruciate ligament injury differ between men and women, and tibial spine width and posterior tibial slope are common risk factors. In the male population, abnormal tibial spine width, tibiofemoral consistency index, medial tibial depth, and posterior tibial slope are easy to induce posterior cruciate ligament injury. In the female population, abnormal medial tibial spine height, lateral tibial spine height, tibial spine width, and posterior tibial slope are easy to induce posterior cruciate ligament injury. Clinicians can use the above risk factors to identify abnormal knee morphology, assess people at risk of posterior cruciate ligament injury, and provide preventive advice and guidance for treatment. Objective. Propose a highly automated treatment plan re-optimization strategy suitable for online adaptive proton therapy. The strategy includes a rapid re-optimization method that generates quality replans and a novel solution that efficiently addresses the planning constraint infeasibility issue that can significantly prolong the re-optimization process. Approach. We propose a systematic reference point method (RPM) model that minimizes the l-infinity norm from the initial treatment plan in the daily objective space for online re-optimization. This model minimizes the largest objective value deviation among the objectives of the daily replan from their reference values, leading to a daily replan similar to the initial plan. Whether a set of planning constraints is feasible with respect to the daily anatomy cannot be known before solving the corresponding optimization problem. The conventional trial-and-error-based relaxation process can cost a significant amount of time. To that end, we propose an optimization problem that first estimates the magnitude of daily violation of each planning constraint. Guided by the violation magnitude and clinical importance of the constraints, the constraints are then iteratively converted into objectives based on their priority until the infeasibility issue is solved. Main results. The proposed RPM-based strategy generated replans similar to the offline manual replans within the online time requirement for six head and neck and four breast patients. The average target D 95 and relevant organ at risk sparing parameter differences between the RPM replans and clinical offline replans were −0.23, −1.62 Gy for head and neck cases and 0.29, −0.39 Gy for breast cases. The proposed constraint relaxation solution made the RPM problem feasible after one round of relaxation for all four patients who encountered the infeasibility issue. Significance. A new species of Eigenmannia is described from the Rio Branco basin, Roraima, Brazil, based on morphological and molecular datasets. It is distinguished from all congeners by the following combination of characters: lateral line stripe extending from first perforated lateral line scale to distal portion of caudal filament, presence of superior midlateral stripe with origin posterior to end of body cavity anal‐fin hyaline, caudal filament corresponding to 15.2%–43.1% LEA, subterminal mouth, ii,14–16 pectoral‐fin rays, 166–219 anal‐fin rays, 10–13 scale rows above lateral line at vertical through posterior tip of pectoral fin, 100–128 scales on lateral line, 22–28 premaxillary teeth, 19–23 dentary teeth, 7–10 endopterygoid teeth, depth of posterodorsal expansion on infraorbitals 1 + 2 half as long as infraorbitals 1 + 2 length, basibranchial 1 unossified, 13 precaudal vertebrae, and length of coronomeckelian bone corresponding to 20% of Meckel's cartilage length. The new species has significant genetic divergence from species with accessible DNA sequences in public repositories, ranging from 10.8% to 17.7%. An osteological description of the new species, a review of Eigenmannia cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) sequences available in public repositories based on voucher examination, and a hypothesis of phylogenetic relationships for the new species based on COI are provided. The critical importance of including voucher examination as one of the steps in the pipeline for using DNA sequences present in public repositories in taxonomic and phylogenetic studies is discussed. OBJECTIVES: Anatomy education plays a critical role in medical practice, and the level of anatomical knowledge among students and physicians significantly impacts patient care. This article presents a pilot project aimed at exploring the effectiveness of the Area9's Rhapsode platform, an intelligent tutoring system that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to personalize learning and collect data on mastery acquisition. METHODS: The study focused on liver anatomy (microscopic and macroscopic anatomy, embryology, clinical anatomy) and employed a flipped classroom approach, incorporating adaptive learning modules and an interactive in-class session. A total of 123 first-year medicine students (55 M/68F) participated to the study. Content and resources of the module were adaptable to various digital devices. Statistics were compiled based, on the one hand, on the measurement of mastery for every single learning objective provided automatically by the platform via the student interactions with the system probes (questions); on the other hand, metacognition data were worked out by crossing mastery data with the self-awareness declared in every question and learning resource by each learner. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: At the outset of the study, students displayed a 18.11% level of conscious incompetence and a 19.43% level of unconscious incompetence. Additionally, 50.86% of students demonstrated conscious competence. By the conclusion of the learning module, the level of conscious incompetence had decreased to 1.87%, and 98.73% of students exhibited conscious mastery of the materials. The results demonstrated improved learning quality, positive repurposing of study time, enhanced metacognitive awareness among students, with most students demonstrating conscious mastery of the materials and a clear understanding of their level of competence. This approach, by providing valuable insights into the potential of AI-based adaptive learning systems in anatomy education, could address the challenges posed by limited teaching hours, shortage of anatomist, and the need for individualized instruction. Abstract\nSTATEMENT OF NOVELTYThis study unveiled the cadmium phytoremediation potential and its augmentation using 6-Benzylaminopurine in Strobilanthes alternata. Cadmium stress was provided by applying 250 mg/kg cadmium chloride in soil and 25 ppm of 6-BAP (25 ml) was administered to the plants as foliar spray. The results revealed high bioconcentration factor (BCF) (18.82 ± 0.54) and low translocation factor (TF) values (0.055 ± 0.002) for the plant based on which we strongly recommend S. alternata as a promising candidate for Cd phytoremediation. The phytostabilization potential of the plant was further enhanced by applying 6-BAP, which augmented its BCF to 22.09 ± 0.64 and reduced the TF to 0.038 ± 0.001. Cd toxicity caused a reduction of plant growth parameters, root volume, adaxial-abaxial stomatal indices, relative water content, tolerance index, moisture content, membrane stability index, and xylem vessel diameter in S. alternata. However, Cd + 6-BAP treated plants exhibited an increase of the same compared to Cd-treated plants. FTIR analysis of Cd + 6-BAP treated plants revealed increased deposition of hemicellulose, causing enhanced retention of Cd in the root xylem walls, which is largely responsible for increased phytostabilization of Cd. Therefore, 6-BAP application in S. alternata can be exploited to restore Cd-contaminated areas effectively.The research paper “6-Benzylaminopurine Mediated Augmentation of Cadmium Phytostabilization Potential in Strobilanthes alternata” has established the Cd phytostabilization potential of the plant Strobilanthes alternata and also identified the role of 6-BAP in augmenting the Cd phytoremediation potential of this plant for the very first time. Background: Analysing the literature about the reproductive anatomy on New World Primates, one can see the need of standardisation on the description methods and, more importantly, the lack of detailed information. The problem is aggravated by the difficult access to specimens of the endangered species such as Brachyteles sp. This paper's objective was to extend knowledge on the male reproductive anatomy of these primates. The testis and funiculus spermaticus of Brachyteles are described in detail. Methods: We utilised one individual of Brachyteles arachnoides, two hybrids (B. arachnoides × Brachyteles hypoxanthus) and photographs of the testis of a third fresh specimen of a hybrid individual. Results: The septum formed by tunica dartos adheres to the testis and separates the scrotum in two testicular cavities. Passed the spermatic cord, the external spermatic fascia continues with the tunica dartos, covering the cranial half of the testis. The fascia cremasterica divides itself in bundles of fibres and forms loops around the testicles creating a sac like structure that seems to be unique among Neotropical Primates. The appendix testis is described for the first time in platyrrhini. It is presented as a sessile structure in the extremitas capitata of the testis. Previous literature on the reproductive anatomy of platyrrhini is limited. Despite that, it can be said that the large size and volume of the testis, and complex structure of the cremaster, could consist of a heat loss reduction strategy in cold and humid forest environments. Conclusions: Except for the larger size of the testicles in hybrid individuals, no other significant morphological differences were found between B. arachnoides and hybrids (B. arachnoides × B. hypoxanthus). The stem base of alfalfa is a critical part for its overwintering, regeneration, and yield. To better understand the specificity and importance of the stem base, we analyzed the structure, metabolic substances, and transcriptome of the stem base using anatomical techniques, ultra-high performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS), and RNA sequencing (RNA-seq), and compared it with stems and roots. The anatomical structure shows that the ratio of xylem to phloem changes at the base of the stem. A total of 801 compounds involved in 91 metabolic pathways were identified from the broadly targeted metabolome. Transcriptome analysis revealed 4974 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) at the stem base compared to the stem, and 5503 DEGs compared to the root. Comprehensive analyses of differentially accumulated compounds (DACs) and DEGs, in the stem base vs. stem, identified 10 valuable pathways, including plant hormone signal transduction, zeatin biosynthesis, α-Linolenic acid metabolism, histidine metabolism, carbon metabolism, carbon fixation in photosynthetic organisms, pentose phosphate pathway, galactose metabolism, and fructose and mannose metabolism. The pathways of plant hormone signal transduction and carbon metabolism were also identified by comparing the stem base with the roots. Taken together, the stem base of alfalfa is the transition region between the stem and root in morphology; in terms of material metabolism, its growth, development, and function are regulated through hormones and sugars. Simple Summary: The objectives of the present study were to describe specific anatomical structures of the dromedary udder. In this study, udders from 86 dromedaries were examined by taking morphological measurements and producing injection casts using resin, gelatin, and paraffin. We examined the different udder, teat, and teat tip shape. The results of this study increase the knowledge of the anatomical structures of the dromedary udder, which may be useful for breeding a selection of dairy dromedaries. The objectives of the present study were to describe specific anatomical structures of the dromedary udder. Eighty-six dromedary udders were examined, taking morphological measurements and producing injection casts using resin, gelatin, and paraffin. The udder of the dromedaries consists of four quarters. The shape of the udders and teats varies considerably between animals and is influenced by age, breeding, and lactation status. The most frequently found udder form was the globular udder (48.8%) and the most common teat form in this study was the funnel teat (44.2%). The most common teat tip shape was a smooth or a slightly rough ring teat (61.6%). Injection casts showed a complete separation of the teat canals. There is also no communication between tributary mammary complexes. Resin injections of the glandular tissue adjacent to the teat cistern showed an extensive branching into large, medium, and small milk ducts. Frozen sections of the udder revealed complete separation of the right and left mammary complex through the Sulcus intermammarius. The teat sections showed longitudinal folds from the tip of the teat to the base of the teat. A ring fold at the transition from the Ductus papillaris to the teat cistern was present. The results of this study increase the knowledge of the anatomical structures of the dromedary udder, which may be useful for breeding a selection of dairy dromedaries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) is one of the most common procedures in operative dentistry, and a deep understanding of the normal anatomical variation of the pterygomandibular space (PM) is essential for its safe and successful administration. This cadaveric anatomical study aimed to use A-silicone injections to evaluate the volume of the PM. This study was conducted using 46 human cadaver heads (25 males and 21 females). A craniometric analysis was performed using the cadavers' ages, the number of silicone cartridges (carpules) used to fill the pterygomandibular space, Izard's Facial Index (FI), and the Cranial Index (CI). A Halstead mandibular block was performed by injecting 1.7 mL A-silicone cartridges (as an equivalent to standard local aesthetic carpules volume) into the PM. The cured silicone was extracted from the dissected mandibles. The volume (length, width, and thickness) of the extracted silicone and the number of silicone cartridges used to fill the space were evaluated. The results showed that there are statistically significant positive correlations between the CI and the width of the right PM, as well as the width and length of the left PM. A statistically significant correlation was found between the width of the left PM and the age of the cadaveric heads; the higher the age, the thicker the space on both sides. There is increasing interest from evolutionary biologists in the evolution of avian bill shape, how the bill is used during feeding and, in particular, the bite forces the bill can deliver. Bite force exhibits isometry with the total mass of the jaw musculature, but there is variation in the functional categories of the jaw muscles in different avian taxa. Qualitative descriptions of the jaw musculature do not allow analysis of the relative contributions that adductor or retractor muscles play in generating a bite force. This study is a meta-analysis of published data for body mass and the mass of the jaw musculature in 66 bird species from 10 orders. The masses of the different muscles contributing to adduction and retraction in closing the jaw, and to depression and protraction in opening the jaw, were summed and allometric relationships explored before investigating the effects of taxonomic order on these relationships. The categories of muscles, and the masses of each category of jaw musculature varied among avian orders. Some species, such as the flightless ratites, had relatively small jaw muscle mass but parrots had an additional adductor muscle. Phylogenetically controlled relationships between body mass and the mass of each muscle category irrespective of taxonomic order were isometric. However, analysis of covariance revealed significant interactions between body mass and taxonomic order. Most orders had low values for body-mass-specific muscle masses in the jaw with the notable exceptions of the Passeriformes (songbirds) and Psittaciformes (parrots). The values of these orders were 3–4 times greater, although the relative amounts of muscles contributing to adduction and retraction were similar in Psittaciformes, but adduction was markedly higher in Passeriformes. The results of these analyses highlight the lack of species-specific data for most birds, which is adversely impacting our understanding of the anatomical features that are determining the functional properties of the bill during feeding. Background: Dromedaries' normal heart architecture and size have not been adequately examined utilizing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and topographic anatomy. Result: we aimed to investigate the regular appearance of the heart and its dimensions, using MRI and cross-sectional anatomy, in mature Arabian one-humped camels (Camelus dromedarius). We also analyzed hematological and cardiac biochemical markers. MRI scans were conducted on twelve camel heart cadavers using a closed 1.5-Tesla magnet with fast spin echo (FSE) weighted sequences. Subsequently, the hearts were cross-sectionally sliced. Additionally, hematobiochemical studies were conducted on ten mature live camels. The study analyzed standard cardiac dimensions including HL, BW, RA, LA, RV, LV, IVS, LAD, RAD, RVD, AoD, TCVD, and MVD. The results showed a strong positive correlation between the cardiac dimensions obtained from both gross analysis and MR images, with no significant difference between them. On both gross and MRI images, the usual structures of the heart were identified and labeled. Along with the cardiac markers (creatine kinase and troponin), the average hematological values and standard biochemical parameters were also described. Conclusion: According to what we know, this investigation demonstrates, for the first time the typical heart structures and dimensions of the heart in dromedaries, and it could serve as a basis for diagnosing cardiac disorders in these animals. Purpose: This study aims to determine the presence and morphology of triticeal cartilage (TrC) through autopsy cases and to examine its relationship with age, gender, and height, thus contributing to clinical practices and forensic perspective. Materials and methods: Our study was conducted on a total of 84 autopsy cases between the ages of 20–90 years who came to Tokat Forensic Medicine Institute. The laryngeal region was palpated to determine whether TrC was present. The dimensions of the TrC and the length of the upper horn of thyroid cartilage (UHThC) were measured with precise digital calipers, and its weight was measured with an accurate digital scale. Results: The presence of TrC was identified in 56% of the autopsy cases examined. The prevalence of TrC was higher in males (61.9%) than in females (23.1%). It was determined to be bilateral in 45% of the cases and unilateral in 11%. TrCs had a cylindrical shape in 68.2%, an oval shape in 25.8%, and a pyramidal shape in 5.8%. The average weight of TrC was 67.93 ± 33.91 mg on the right side and 72.67 ± 32.23 mg on the left. As the individual's height increased, the weight of TrC increased (p < 0.001). Additionally, there was a strong positive correlation between the lengths of TrC and UHThC and the individual's height (p < 0.001). Conclusion: TrC may be confused with UHThC fractures. Therefore, we believe that knowledge of the presence and morphology of TrC will contribute to clinical approaches and forensic cases, especially in relation to the neck region. Purpose: The proximal radio-ulnar joint allows supination and pronation of the forearm and the humeroradial joint allows flexion and extension movements at the elbow joint. Although the proximal end of the radius is less common than other fractures, it is more common nowadays due to the prolongation of life expectancy, increased incidence of osteoporosis. There have been reports in the literature that success has not been achieved due to the lack of anatomical fit of the prosthesis. Knowledge of the morphometric features of the proximal end of the radius is important for the design of anatomically and biomechanically appropriate prostheses. Methods: In this study, measurements of head and neck of radius, and radial tuberosity were measured in 80 dry radii. Parameters important for prosthesis design were analysed and their correlations examined. Results: The shapes of radial head was found 36% oval and 64% circular. The mean heights of the radial head at anterior, posterior, medial, and lateral sides were 8.52 ± 1.32 mm, 9.02 ± 1.23 mm, 9.20 ± 1.59 mm, 8.05 ± 1.13 mm, respectively. The mean depth of articular facet were 1.85 ± 0.37 mm. It was determined that there was no high correlation between the parameters affecting the prosthesis design. Conclusions: Morphological and morphometric features of the proximal radius are important for prosthesis design and implantation. The ideal radial head prosthesis design is challenging due to numerous parameters, wide ranges and low correlation, although modular designs facilitate compatibility. Purpose: The hamstrings muscles are innervated by sciatic nerve branches. However, previous studies assessing which and how many branches innervate each muscle have yielded discrepant results. This study investigated the innervation patterns of hamstrings. Materials and methods: Thirty-five cadaver limbs were investigated. The average age of subjects was 78.6 ± 17.2 years, with 48.6% male and 51.4% female, while 57.1% were right limbs and 42.9% left. The sciatic nerve, hamstrings and associated structures were dissected. The number of nerve branches for each muscle and the level where they penetrated the muscle were recorded. Results: The sciatic nerve was connected by a fibrous band to the long head of the biceps femoris. This muscle was innervated by either one or two branches, which penetrated the muscle into its superior or middle third. The short head of the biceps femoris was innervated by a single nerve that usually penetrated its middle third, but sometimes inferiorly or, less commonly, superiorly. The semitendinosus was always innervated by two branches, the superior branch penetrating its upper third, the inferior mostly the middle third. The semimembranosus usually was innervated by a single nerve branch that penetrated the muscle at its middle or lower third. Four specimens revealed common nerves that innervated than one muscle. Conclusions: We have characterized hamstring innervation patterns, knowledge that is relevant to neurolysis, surgery of the thigh, and other procedures. Moreover, a mechanical connection between the sciatic nerve and biceps femoris long head was identified that could explain certain neuralgias. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: This article presents a comprehensive exploration of neurovascular anatomy of the encephalon, focusing specifically on the intricate network within the posterior circulation and the posterior fossa anatomy; enhancing understanding of its dynamics, essential for practitioners in neurosurgery and neurology areas. Method: A profound literature review was conducted by searching the PubMed and Google Scholar databases using main keywords related to neurovascular anatomy. The selected literature was meticulously scrutinized. Throughout the screening of pertinent papers, further articles or book chapters were obtained through additional assessment of the reference lists. Furthermore, four formalin-fixed, color latex–injected cadaveric specimens preserved in 70% ethanol solution were dissected under surgical microscope (Leica Microsystems Inc, 1700 Leider Ln, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089, USA), using microneurosurgical as well as standard instruments, and a high-speed surgical drill (Stryker Instruments 1941 Stryker Way Portage, MI 49002, USA). Ulterior anatomical dissection was performed. Results: Detailed examination of the basilar artery (BA), a common trunk formed by the union of the left and right vertebral arteries, denoted a tortuous course across the basilar sulcus. Emphasis is then placed on the Posterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery (PICA), Anterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery (AICA) and Superior Cerebellar Artery (SCA). Each artery's complex course through the posterior fossa, its divisions, and potential stroke-related syndromes are explored in detail. The Posterior Cerebral Artery (PCA) is subsequently unveiled. The posterior fossa venous system is explained, categorizing its channels. A retrograde exploration traces the venous drainage back to the internal jugular vein, unraveling its pathways. Conclusion: This work serves as a succinct yet comprehensive guide, offering fundamental insights into neurovascular anatomy within the encephalon's posterior circulation. Purpose: Ultrasound is becoming an essential tool for hand surgeons, but most of them are trained on the job, without any diploma or dedicated training. The aim of this study was to assess the ability of hand surgeons new to ultrasound to identify hand and wrist anatomical structures. Methods: A monocentric study was conducted from January 2022 to April 2022. Ten residents and five attending hand surgeons, ultrasound novices, were involved in this study. The participants underwent two tests, wherein they were required to identify 17 anatomical structures using ultrasound, on the same subject. The second test was similar and carried out 2 to 6 weeks later by all participants. The number of structures successfully identified and if it was the case, the detection time per structure, were recorded. The correlations between participants age, years of surgical experience, surgical background (orthopedic or plastic) and the ability to perform immediately during the first test or to progress between the two tests were also assessed. Results: The average number of structures identified during the first test (T1) was 14.1+/-2.1 (82.9%), versus 16.2+/-0.8 (95.3%) structures during the second test (T2) (p = 0.001). The mean detection time per structure was 53.4 +/- 18.9 s during T1 versus 27.7 +/- 7.2 s during T2 (p < 0.0001). A moderate negative correlation between the progression in the number of anatomical structures identified between the two tests and the years of surgical experience (ρ=-0.56; p = 0.029) was found. The other parameters were neither correlated with the ability to perform at the first test nor with the progression between the two tests. Conclusion: Hand surgeons new to ultrasound are most of the time able to identify hand and wrist anatomical structures. Comparison of their first and second tests showed significant potential for improvement in anatomical structure identification and detection time of those, especially in surgeons with limited surgical experience. This study aimed to describe the shoulder anatomy, together with the anatomical relationships in adults and early stages of development. The shoulder muscles were studied from ultrasound, anatomical, and microscopic perspectives in a sample of 34 human shoulders. Thickness measurements were taken of the tendons and fasciae of the subscapularis, long head tendon of the biceps brachii, supraspinatus, infraspinatus, and teres minor. Ultrasound and dissection techniques are strongly correlated. However, the measurements obtained from the dissection technique were superior to those obtained from the ultrasound in all cases, except for the thickness of the long head tendon of the biceps brachii, the teres minor tendon, and the fascia thickness of the infraspinatus. In addition, the study of shoulder anatomy revealed no differences between females and males. Relevant findings from dissection included a clear overlap between the infraspinatus and supraspinatus, which shared tendon fibers, and a similar connection between the transverse ligament of the long head tendon of the biceps brachii and the subscapularis, which created a more interconnected shoulder function. The study of the anatomical measurements shows an underestimation of the shoulder measurements in the ultrasound compared with the dissection technique, but a high correlation between the measurements made by the two techniques. We present reference values for the tendon and fascia thicknesses of the rotator cuff, with no differences observed by gender. The relationships between shoulder structures described in the anatomical study imply as well that, in the event of an injury, adjacent tissues may be affected. The neurohormone oxytocin (OT) has become a major target for the development of novel therapeutic strategies to treat psychiatric disorders such as autism spectrum disorder because of its integral role in governing many facets of mammalian social behavior. Whereas extensive work in rodents has produced much of our knowledge of OT, we lack basic information about its neurobiology in primates making it difficult to interpret the limited effects that OT manipulations have had in human patients. In fact, previous studies have revealed only limited OT fibers in primate brains. Here, we investigated the OT connectome in marmoset using immunohistochemistry, and mapped OT fibers throughout the brains of adult male and female marmoset monkeys. We found extensive OT projections reaching limbic and cortical areas that are involved in the regulation of social behaviors, such as the amygdala, the medial prefrontal cortex, and the basal ganglia. The pattern of OT fibers observed in marmosets is notably similar to the OT connectomes described in rodents. Our findings here contrast with previous results by demonstrating a broad distribution of OT throughout the marmoset brain. Purpose: We herein describe the superficial preprostatic vein (SPV) anatomy and determine its relationship with the accessory pudendal artery (APA). Materials and Methods: We reviewed 500 patients with localized prostate cancer who underwent conventional robot-assisted radical prostatectomy between April 2019 and March 2023 at our institution. SPV was defined as "any vein coming from the space between the puboprostatic ligaments and running within the retropubic adipose tissue anterior to the prostate toward the vesical venous plexus or pelvic side wall." While APA was defined as "any artery located in the periprostatic region running parallel to the dorsal vascular complex and extending caudal toward the anterior perineum." The intraoperative anatomy of each SPV and APA was described. Results: SPVs had a prevalence rate of 88%. They were preserved in 252 men (58%) and classified as I-, reversed-Y (rY)-, Y-, or H-shaped (64%, 22%, 12%, and 2%, respectively) based on their intraoperative appearance. Overall, 214 APAs were found in 142 of the 252 men with preserved SPV (56%; 165 lateral and 50 apical APAs in 111 and 41 men, respectively). SPVs were pulsatile in 39% men perhaps due to an accompanying tiny artery functioning as a median APA. Pulsations seemed to be initially absent in most SPVs but become apparent late during surgery possibly due to increased arterial and venous blood flow after prostate removal. Pulsations were common in men with ≥1 APA. Conclusions: This study, which described the anatomical variations in arteries and veins around the prostrate and their preservation techniques, revealed that preserving this vasculature may help preserve postprostatectomy erection. Neuronavigation systems coupled with previously reported external anatomical landmarks assist neurosurgeons during intracranial procedures. We aimed to verify whether the posterior auricularis muscle (PAM) could be used as an external landmark for identifying the sigmoid sinus (SS) and the transverse-sigmoid sinus junction (TSSJ) during posterior cranial fossa surgery. The PAM was dissected in 10 adult cadaveric heads and after drilling the underlying bone, the relationships with the underlying SS and TSSJ were noted. The width and length of the PAM, and the distance between the muscle and reference points (asterion, mastoid tip, and midline), were measured. The PAM was identified in 18 sides (9 left, 9 right). The first 20 mm of the muscle length (mean 28.28 mm) consistently overlay the mastoid process anteriorly and the proximal half of the SS slightly posteriorly on all sides. The superior border was a mean of 2.22 mm inferior to the TSSJ and, especially when the muscle length exceeded 20 mm, this border extended closer to the transverse sinus; it was usually found at a mean of 3.11 mm (range 0.0–13.80 mm) inferior to the distal third of the transverse sinus. Superficial landmarks give surgeons improved surgical access, avoiding overexposure of deep neurovascular structures and reducing brain retraction. On the basis of our cadaveric study, the PAM is a reliable and accurate direct landmark for identifying the SS and TSSJ. The PAM could potentially be used for guiding the retrosigmoid approach. His pioneering work contributed significantly to our understanding of human anatomy, particularly with the identification of the artery of Salmon (AOS). The objective of this study is to thoroughly investigate the AOS by conducting a comprehensive literature review, providing insights into its anatomy and surgical implications. This review was undertaken after a thorough examination of literature encompassing papers about the AOS. Right up until January 2024, databases like PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Web of Science were explored. The search was conducted using specific terms such as "Artery of Salmon," "suboccipital artery," and "vertebral artery anatomy." An in-depth assessment was conducted to examine the anatomy, and surgical significance of the AOS. The AOS is a branch of the V3 segment of the vertebral artery that supplies the suboccipital muscles. The ability, to identify it, is critical for distinguishing the origins of intraoperative hemorrhage. Through careful surgical intervention, the artery was able to devascularize tumors and vascular lesions. We also touched on the technical issues of its possible application in bypass operations for aneurysms of the posterior inferior cerebellar artery or vertebral artery. Several factors contribute to the anatomical complexity of the trochlear nerve, including small diameter, complex and longest intracranial course, deep location, and numerous neurovascular relationships. A 3-dimensional (3D) photorealistic model of the cranial nerves provides a detailed and immersive representation of the anatomy, enabling one to improve surgical planning, advanced surgical research, and training. The purpose of this work is to present a 3D photogrammetric study for a more intuitive and interactive way to explore and describe the entire course of trochlear nerve. Two injected-fixed head human specimens (4 sides) were examined. The dissection protocol was divided into the following steps: 1) brain hemisphere exposure; 2) hemispherectomy dissecting all cranial nerves and partial removal of the free edge of the tentorium; 3) middle fossa and lateral wall of cavernous sinus exposure; and 4) orbital exposure. A detailed 3D photogrammetric model was generated for each dissection step. Four main volumetric models were generated during a step-by-step layered dissection of the entire nerve pathway highlighting its different segments. Finally, a full and integrated model of the entire course of the nerve was created. The models are available for visualization on monoscopic display, virtual, and augmented reality environment. The present photogrammetric model provides a more comprehensive understanding of the nerve's anatomy in its different segments, allows for customizable views thus simulating different perspectives, and can be a valuable alternative to traditional dissections. Peripersonal space (PPS) is a construct referring to the portion of space immediately surrounding our bodies, where most of the interactions between the subject and the environment, including other individuals, take place. Decades of animal and human neuroscience research have revealed that the brain holds a separate representation of this region of space: this distinct spatial representation has evolved to ensure proper relevance to stimuli that are close to the body and prompt an appropriate behavioral response. The neural underpinnings of such construct have been thoroughly investigated by different generations of studies involving anatomical and electrophysiological investigations in animal models, and, recently, neuroimaging experiments in human subjects. Here, we provide a comprehensive anatomical overview of the anatomical circuitry underlying PPS representation in the human brain. Gathering evidence from multiple areas of research, we identified cortical and subcortical regions that are involved in specific aspects of PPS encoding. We show how these regions are part of segregated, yet integrated functional networks within the brain, which are in turn involved in higher-order integration of information. This wide-scale circuitry accounts for the relevance of PPS encoding in multiple brain functions, including not only motor planning and visuospatial attention but also emotional and social cognitive aspects. Objectives: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the prevalence of middle mesial canal (MMC) in permanent mandibular molars of different populations and regions based on cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) studies. Materials and methods: PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, and Open-Grey were searched up to October 2023 according to specific keywords. A hand search was conducted on the references of the included studies and articles from three peer-reviewed journals in endodontics. The main variable of interest was the prevalence of MMC. Additional data such as the total number of included cases, age and country of the population, CBCT device information, voxel size, and field of view details were also extracted. Extracted data were analyzed qualitatively with the JBI quality assessment checklist and quantitatively with STATA software. Results: Of 32,793 studied teeth, the cumulative prevalence of MMC in both mandibular 1st and 2nd molars was 3.11% (95% CI: 2.00-4.44%). The subgroup analysis reveals a prevalence of 4.15% (95% CI: 2.69-5.89%) for mandibular 1st molars and 1.2% (95% CI: 0.2-2.83%) for mandibular 2nd molars. The highest prevalence of MMC in 1st molar was attributed to South Asia (11.24%) and Africa (6.61%). Conclusions: The prevalence of MMC varies among regions. Clinicians should be aware of the potential prevalence of MMC, particularly in mandibular first molars, as a missed MMC could result in endodontic failure. Clinical relevance: The presence of MMCs varies in different geographic regions (0% to 29.7%). Clinicians should always look for MMC when doing an endodontic treatment on mandibular molars, as the presence of this canal is not uncommon. Purpose: The study is aimed at evaluating the long-term (at a minimum follow-up of 10 years) impact of non-vascularized fibular harvest on the donor limbs. Methods: There were 27 donor limbs (n = 19 children) available for retrospective radiological review. The graft was obtained bilaterally in eight patients. The following parameters were evaluated in the follow-up radiographs: continuity/non-continuity of fibular regenerate, width of the regenerated fibula, distal fibular station, medial proximal tibial angle, posterior proximal tibial angle, lateral distal tibial angle (LDTA), anterior distal tibial angle, and tibia diaphyseal angulation (interphyseal angles). For analysis and comparisons, the donor limbs were compared to the healthy limbs (controls) of the children with unilateral harvest. Additionally, the impact of continuous and non-continuous fibular regeneration was separately analyzed. Results: The mean child's age at the time of fibular harvest was four years. The mean follow-up was 12.8 years. The fibula was found regenerated in continuity in 22 limbs of 15 children (81.5%). When analyzed as a combined group (both continuous and non-continuous fibular regenerations), all the donor limb radiological parameters matched those of healthy limbs except LDTA (p = 0.04). In the subgroup analysis between non-continuous and continuous fibulae, significant abnormalities were again obvious in LDTA (p = 0.0001). The non-continuous fibulae were significantly lesser in width. All limbs with non-continuous fibular regeneration manifested ankle valgus. Conclusions: The non-vascularized fibula emerged as a relatively safe procedure in the long term with minimal affections of the knee, ankle, or tibial anatomy when longitudinal integrity of fibula was restored. Background: Early melanoma detection is the main factor affecting prognosis and survival. For that reason, non‐invasive technologies have been developed to provide a more accurate diagnosis. Recently, line‐field confocal optical coherence tomography (LC‐OCT) was developed to provide an in vivo, imaging device, with deep penetration and cellular resolution in three dimensions. Combining the advantages of conventional OCT and reflectance confocal microscopy, this tool seems to be particularly suitable for melanocytic lesions. Objectives: The objective of this study was to identify and describe the correlation between specific dermoscopic criteria and LC‐OCT features in three dimensions associated with melanocytic lesions. Methods: Dermoscopic and LC‐OCT images of 126 melanocytic lesions were acquired in three different centres. The following dermoscopic criteria have been considered: reticular pattern, dots and globules, structureless areas, blue‐whitish veil, regression structures, negative network, homogeneous pattern, streaks and blotches. Results: 69 (55%) benign and 57 (45%) malignant lesions were analysed. A regular reticular pattern was found associated in the 75% of the cases with the presence of elongated rete ridges with pigmented cells along the basal layer, while atypical reticular pattern showed an irregular organization of rete ridges with melanocytic hyperplasia, broadened and fused ridges and elongated nests. Both typical and atypical dots and globules were found associated with melanocytic nests in the dermis or at the dermoepidermal junction (DEJ), as well as with keratin cysts/pseudocysts. Grey globules corresponded to the presence of melanin‐containing dermal inflammatory cells (melanophages) within the papillae. Structureless brown/black areas correlated with alterations of the DEJ. We observed the same DEJ alterations, but with the presence of dermal melanophages, in 36% of the cases of blue/white/grey structureless areas. A description of each LC‐OCT/dermoscopy correlation was made. Objectives: To elucidate the male urethral muscular structure and its relationship with the anorectal canal muscles, as establishing an anatomical foundation for urethral function will contribute to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of urinary incontinence. Methods: Eight male cadavers were used. Using a multifaceted approach, we performed macroscopic anatomical examination, histological analysis of wide‐range serial sectioning and immunostaining, and three‐dimensional (3D) reconstruction from histological sections. In the macroscopic anatomical examination, pelvic halves were meticulously dissected in layers from the medial aspect. In the histological analysis, the tissue, including the urethra and anorectal canal, was serially sectioned in the horizontal plane. The muscular structures were reconstructed and visualised in 3D. Results: The membranous portion of the urethra had three muscle layers: the longitudinal and circular muscles (smooth muscle) and the external urethral sphincter (skeletal muscle). The circular muscle was connected posteriorly to the longitudinal rectal muscle. The external urethral sphincter had a horseshoe shape, with its posterior ends continuing to the external anal sphincter, forming a 3D ring‐like sphincter. Conclusion: This study revealed skeletal and smooth muscle connections between the male urethra and anorectal canal, enabling urethral compression and closure. The wood anatomy of Gymnanthes klotzschiana was studied, to assess whether there are variations in the secondary xylem under different geopedological conditions. The species is dominant in subtropical alluvial forests and can be established in different ecological conditions, especially regarding soil water regime. Wood samples were collected in the plain of the Iguaçu River, in Paraná, Brazil, encompassing three geopedological conditions: gleysol, fluvisol and psamment, characterized by varying degrees of water saturation, ranging from very poorly drained to heavily drained. Considerable intraspecific variations were found in the xylem in response to geopedological conditions. Most of the variation occurs in attributes related to the biomechanical and hydraulic functions (e.g. fibers and vessels), with cells smaller in gleysol, larger in fluvisol and intermediate in psamment. For some variables, the xylem has similar responses in conditions of water deficit and permanent water saturation, indicating a probable influence of physiological drought. The phenotypic plasticity of the species explains its high adaptability to the selective and variable conditions of riparian environments. The study contributes to understanding the species' ecological responses, highlighting its relevance as a keystone species in the dynamic and fragile ecosystems of the floodplains, fundamental for the maintenance of many ecosystem services. The genus Bolboschoenus has been intensively studied from the morphological, ecological and physiological aspects, however, anatomical features of stems, leaves and epidermal structures of leaves have not been investigated sufficiently yet. The main objective of this study was to compare the four Bolboschoenus species growing in Serbia at the anatomical level and to define the most important anatomical characteristics for distinguishing these species. Descriptive, nonmetric multidimensional scaling and canonical discriminant analysis of the anatomical characters of leaves, stems and epidermal structures have been conducted for these purposes. The number and position of sclerenchyma strands in the leaves, the presence of bulliform cells in the epidermis, the number of translucent cell layers under the adaxial epidermis in the midrib area of the lamina, the number of aerial cavities in leaves and stems were the most significant anatomical characters for differentiation of species. The most differentiated species was B. glaucus, while B. laticarpus occupied an intermediate position between B. maritimus and B. planiculmis, on the one hand, and B. glaucus on the other. The combination of the anatomical features of leaves and stems and the epidermal structures had a more excellent taxonomic value than these three individual groups of features individually. The anatomy of climbing plants shows a fascinating arrangement of vascular tissues, which may vary from species to species. In the present study, stem anatomy of Gymnema cuspidatum, G. latifolium, G. montanum and G. sylvestre (Apocynaceae) and the occurrence of vascular variants are described here for the first time. They were compared histologically to understand the structural variations in the secondary xylem and ontogeny of vascular variants if any within the species. All four species increase their stem diameter by a single ring of vascular cambium like most of the eudicots. In thick stems, periderm forms distinct ridges and furrows in all the species except G. sylvestre, in which it was minimal. Differential activity of the cambium resulted in the formation of distinct and deep phloem wedges in G. latifolium and G. sylvestre while in other species they were either shallow or almost absent. The secondary xylem was diffuse-porous with distinct growth rings in G. cuspidatum and G. montanum while they were indistinct in G. latifolium and G. sylvestre. Besides regular xylem elements, the presence of perforated ray cells and radially oriented laticifers in the xylem rays was observed frequently in all the investigated samples. The formation of the intraxylary primary phloem was observed concomitant to the regular protoxylem and protophloem at the pith margin. Subsequently, an additional intraxylary phloem was developed from the adjacent pith cells and by the activity of intraxylary/medullary cambium at the pith margin. In thick stems, parenchymatous cells situated between the protoxylem and intraxylary protophloem led to the initiation of intraxylary cambium. In conclusion, three species showed distinct ridges and furrows due to the formation of periderm except G. sylvestre, phloem ray parenchyma showed the formation of sclerenchyma only in the thick stems of G. sylvestre. Imaging of the larynx and hypopharynx is frequently requested to assess the extent of neoplasms beyond the field of view of endoscopic evaluation. The combination of optical and cross-sectional imaging allows tumors to be classified according to AJCC/UICC guidelines. A thorough understanding of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal anatomy is crucial to guide the radiological eye along the possible pathways of the spread of diseases and to guide differential diagnoses. Computed tomography (CT) has been the first cross-sectional imaging technique used to evaluate the larynx and hypopharynx; its spatial resolution combined with volumetric capability and the use of injectable contrast medium made CT the working horse in the assessment of neoplastic and inflammatory diseases. In the last two decades, magnetic resonance (MR) supported CT in the most challenging cases, when the optimal contrast resolution due to the multisequence portfolio is needed to assess the neoplastic involvement of laryngeal cartilages, paraglottic space(s), and extra laryngeal spread. This manuscript meticulously dissects the nuances of this interplay, bringing to the fore the integral role of the extraocular muscles (EOMs) and their intricate relationship with the myriad orbital connective tissues as it harmoniously orchestrates binocular movements, ensuring synchronised and fluid visual tracking. Historically, the peripheral oculomotor apparatus was conceptualised as a rudimentary system predominantly driven by neural directives. While widely accepted, this perspective offered a limited view of the complexities inherent in ocular movement mechanics. The twentieth century heralded a paradigm shift in this understanding. With advances in anatomical research and imaging techniques, a much clearer picture of the gross anatomy of the EOMs emerged. This clarity challenged traditional viewpoints, suggesting that the inherent biomechanical properties of the EOMs, coupled with their associated tissue pulleys, play a pivotal role in dictating eye movement dynamics. Central to this revised understanding is the "arc of contact" paradigm. This concept delves deep into the mechanics of eye rotation, elucidating the significance of the point of contact between the EOMs and the eyeball. The arc of contact is not just a static anatomical feature; its length and orientation play a crucial role in determining the effective torque generated by a muscle, thereby influencing the amplitude and direction of eye rotation. The dynamic nature of this arc, influenced by the position and tension of the muscle pulleys, offers a more comprehensive model for understanding ocular kinematics. Previously overlooked in traditional models, muscle pulleys have now emerged as central players in the biomechanics of eye movement. These anatomical structures, formed by dense connective tissues, guide the paths of the EOMs, ensuring that their pulling angles remain optimal across a range of gaze directions. The non‐linear paths resulting from these pulleys provide a more dynamic and intricate understanding of eye movement, challenging two‐dimensional, linear models of orbital anatomy. The implications of these revelations extend beyond mere theoretical knowledge. The insights garnered from this research promise transformative potential in the realm of strabismus surgery. Background: The decision to treat a refluxing anterior saphenous vein (ASV) should be a clinical decision based on the assessment on the ASV's contribution to patient's signs and symptoms. Once the decision to treat has been made, there are anatomic, clinical, and technical considerations in treatment planning. Methods: Clinical scenarios were discussed by a panel of experts and common anatomic, clinical, and technical considerations were identified. Results: There are unique clinical considerations such as whether both the great saphenous vein (GSV) and ASV should be concomitantly treated, if a normal ASV should be treated when treating a refluxing GSV and when and how to treat the associated tributary varicose tributaries. Being aware of the anatomic, clinical, and technical considerations allows development of a treatment plan that optimizes long-term outcomes in patients with ASV reflux. Objective: The objective of this study is to systemically review the literature on Anterior Saphenous Vein (ASV) reflux treatment and insurance impediments to treatment coverage. Methods: A literature search was performed using a PRISMA framework. In addition, a cross-sectional analysis of insurance policies for ASV treatment was evaluated. Results: Published evidence and treatment considerations in the literature for ASV treatment are discussed. In 155 of 226 (68.6%) insurance policies reviewed coverage of ASV ablation was allowed while 62/226 (27.4%) did not specify coverage and 9/226 (4.0%) specified ASV treatment was not covered. Of the 155 that provide ASV coverage, 98 (62.2%) provide coverage with criteria such as requiring prior treatment of the great saphenous vein. Conclusions: Vein treatment experts should continue to advocate to insurance carriers to update their varicose vein treatment policies to reflect the substantial clinical evidence so that patients with ASV reflux can be appropriately treated. Multimodal treatment approaches with neoadjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy followed by oncological and total mesorectal excision (TME) have significantly reduced the recurrence rate even in locally advanced rectal cancer. Nevertheless, up to 10% of patients develop a local relapse. Surgical R0 resection is the only chance of a cure in the treatment of locally recurrent rectal cancer (LRRC). Due to the altered anatomy and physiology of the true pelvis as a result of the pretreatment and operations as well as the localization and extent of the recurrence, the treatment decision is individualized and remains a challenge for the interdisciplinary team. Counterfactual estimates of excess deaths in Russian regions in the period 2020–21 are compared with officially reported COVID deaths to analyse underreporting. COVID mortality levels at the end of years 2020 and 2021 as well as annual growth during 2021 and the first half of 2022 reveal that COVID is a real threat to high labour productivity regions and those with relatively bigger defence and civilian sectors. Corruption lowers COVID mortality growth, suggesting a public health system where better care is obtained informally. Improved access to a doctor just before the pandemic lowered the level of mortality during the worst year (2021) but did not impact the mortality growth or the mortality level in 2020. Better prevention of any virus including COVID in the future would include more regionally decentralised vaccine and testing initiatives to boost compliance plus a fundamentally reformed health system that includes access to foreign-made vaccines and higher quality mortality data. Aging affects the scalp-to-cortex distance (SCD) and the comprising tissues. This is crucial for noninvasive neuroimaging and brain stimulation modalities as they rely on traversing from the scalp to the cortex or vice versa. The specific relationship between aging and these tissues has not been comprehensively investigated. We conducted a study on 250 younger and older adults to examine age-related differences in SCD and its constituent tissues. We identified region-specific differences in tissue thicknesses related to age and sex. Older adults exhibit larger SCD in the frontocentral regions compared to younger adults. Men exhibit greater SCD in the inferior scalp regions, while women show similar-to-greater SCD values in regions closer to the vertex compared to men. Younger adults and men have thicker soft tissue layers, whereas women and older adults exhibit thicker compact bone layers. CSF is considerably thicker in older adults, particularly in men. These findings emphasize the need to consider age, sex, and regional differences when interpreting SCD and its implications for noninvasive neuroimaging and brain stimulation. Background and Aims Vascular patterning is intimately related to plant form and function. Here, using barley (Hordeum vulgare) as a model, we studied the vascular anatomy of the spike-type inflorescence. The main aim of the present work was to clarify the relationship between rachis (spike axis) vasculature and spike size, to define vascular dynamics and to discuss the implications for transport capacity and its interaction with the spikelets. Methods We used serial transverse internode sections to determine the internode area, vascular area and number of veins along the rachis of several barley lines. Key Results Internode area and total vascular area show a clear positive correlation with spike size, whereas the number of veins is only weakly correlated. The lateral periphery of the rachis contains large mature veins of constant size, whereas the central part is occupied by small immature veins. Spikelet-derived veins entering the rachis often merge with the immature rachis veins but never merge with the mature veins. An increase in floret fertility through the conversion of a two-rowed barley into an isogenic six-rowed line, in addition to a decrease in floret fertility owing to enhanced pre-anthesis tip degeneration caused by the mutation tip sterile 2.b (tst2.b), significantly affected vein size but had limited to no effects on the number of veins or internode area. Conclusions The rachis vasculature is the result of a two-step process involving an initial layout followed by size adjustment according to floret fertility/spike size. The restriction of large mature vessels to the periphery and that of small immature vessels to the centre of the rachis suggests that long-distance transport and local supply to spikelets are spatially separated processes. The identification of spikelet-derived veins entering the rachis without fusing with its vasculature indicates that a vascular continuity between rachis and spikelets might be non-essential. Introduction: Facial fillers and injectables have transformed the landscape of cosmetic procedures, offering rejuvenation possibilities. However, the emergence of "Facial Overfilled Syndrome (FOS)" presents a concerning trend attributed to excessive filler use and suboptimal injection techniques. Understanding the interplay between facial aging and augmentation techniques is crucial in addressing and preventing FOS. Material and Methods: Facial overfilled syndrome is characterized by the excessive use of fillers, resulting in a distorted and heavy appearance. It manifests in various forms, including 'flowerhorn' foreheads, 'sunset' eyes, 'chipmunk' cheeks, 'witch' chins, and 'pillow' faces. The syndrome arises from attempts to combat anatomical aging with dramatic filler treatments, causing rapid volume changes and skin tightening. Skeletal structures and soft tissue distribution across different ethnicities play a significant role in FOS development. Results: Understanding the aging process across facial tissues is essential, as fillers cannot entirely reverse aging manifestations. Tailored assessment and treatment plans should precede filler injections, involving muscle assessment, observation of facial movements during injection, and ultrasound imaging of fat layers. Attention should be given to filler pressure and migration risks, particularly in areas with elevated pressure. Additionally, alternative approaches like energy‐based devices and polymer reinforcement of facial ligaments should be considered to minimize filler use. Ethnic variations in facial anatomy require careful consideration to avoid overcorrection. Conclusion: FOS predominantly affects individuals of East Asian descent due to specific facial characteristics. Prevention strategies involve minimizing filler use, addressing underlying bone changes, and considering ethnic and gender differences in facial anatomy. Recent MRI and ultrasound studies challenge the notion of filler breakdown, emphasizing the importance of filler selection and injection techniques. The Spiral of Tillaux describes the historically accepted insertion distances of the medial rectus, inferior rectus, lateral rectus, and superior rectus from the limbus: 5.5 mm, 6.5 mm, 6.9 mm, and 7.7 mm, respectively. The corneal diameters are historically accepted to be 11.7 mm horizontally and 10.6 mm vertically in adults. We investigated the variability of the insertion distances of the extraocular rectus muscles from the limbus as well as the corneal diameters using eyes from human cadavers and compared our measurements to these historically accepted measurements. A sample of 60 eyes were included. For each eye, a 360 peritomy was conducted and the conjunctiva bluntly dissected to view the sclera. Muscle hooks were utilized to isolate the extraocular rectus muscles. Calipers were used to measure the insertion distances of the rectus muscles as well as the corneal diameters. The mean rectus muscle insertions distances from the limbus were medial 5.28 mm, inferior 5.72 mm, lateral 6.40 mm, and superior 6.78 mm. These insertion distances were shorter than the historical benchmarks (p <.01). However, observed maximum distances of the rectus muscles were all greater than the historically accepted benchmarks, with the medial, inferior, lateral, and superior rectus muscles being 6.4 mm, 7.3 mm, 7.4 mm, and 7.8 m from the limbus, respectively. The mean width and height of the cornea were 11.7 mm and 10.7 mm, respectively, and similar to the expected ranges. This study concludes that variability does exist from the historically accepted Spiral of Tillaux measurements. In addition, significant variation exists between male and female rectus muscle insertions. However, we did confirm that the rectus muscles followed the same spiral pattern described by the Spiral of Tillaux and concluded that the corneal diameters are consistent with previously accepted values. Background: The detailed complexity of triceps brachii insertional footprint continues to challenge surgeons as evidenced by continued reports of triceps-associated complications following elbow procedures. The purpose of this study is to describe the three-dimensional footprint of the triceps brachii at its olecranon insertion at the elbow. Methods: 22 cadaveric elbows were dissected leaving only the distal insertion of the triceps intact. The insertion was defined and probed with a three-dimensional digitizer to create a digital three-dimensional footprint allowing width, height, and surface area of the footprint to be recorded relative to the bare area. The insertional soft tissues of tendon versus muscle along with the shape of the footprints were qualitatively described. Results: The mean width and surface area of the lateral segment was greater in males than in females (30.07 mm vs. 24.37 mm, p = 0.0339 and 282.1 mm vs. 211. 56 mm, p = 0.0181, respectively). No other statistically significant differences between the sexes were noted. The triceps insertional footprint was "crescent-shaped" and consisted of three regions: central tendon, medial muscular extension, and lateral muscular extension. Discussion: These findings can help explain the importance of avoiding these muscular structures during triceps-off approaches and provides the framework for future clinical studies. The nose has several important functions including inspiration, humidification of air, and filtering of allergens. The nose also has a major role in facial harmony as the central focal point. Patients will present to the rhinoplasty surgeon in an effort to fix the inability to breathe through the nose or correct a perceived nasal deformity in the shape of the nose. Choosing the optimal techniques to effectively change the nose requires a thorough understanding of nasal anatomy and nasal mechanics. Ultimately, a complete nasal evaluation is essential in identifying what corresponds to a patient's complaints and how those issues can be addressed surgically or perhaps nonsurgically. Belemnite rostra are very abundant in Mesozoic marine deposits in many regions. Despite this abundance, soft-tissue specimens of belemnites informing about anatomy and proportions of these coleoid cephalopods are extremely rare and limited to a few moderately large genera like Passaloteuthis and Hibolithes. For all other genera, we can make inferences on their body proportions and body as well as mantle length by extrapolating from complete material. We collected data of the proportions of the hard parts of some Jurassic belemnites in order to learn about shared characteristics in their gross anatomy. This knowledge is then applied to the Bajocian genus Megateuthis, which is the largest known belemnite genus worldwide.
