The large open circuit voltage (V OC ) loss is currently one of the main obstacles to achieving efficient organic solar cells (OSCs). In this study, the ternary OSCs comprising PM6:BTP-eC9:IT-4F demonstrate a superior efficiency of 18.2 %. Notably, the utilization of the medium bandgap acceptor IT-4F as the third component results in an exceptionally low nonradiative recombination energy loss of 0.28 V. The desirable energy level cascade is formed among PM6, BTP-eC9, and IT-4F due to the low-lying HOMO and LUMO energy levels of IT-4F. More importantly, the V OC of PM6:BTP-eC9:IT-4F OSCs can reach as high as 0.86 V, which is higher than both binary OSCs without sacrificing J SC and FF. Besides, this strategy proved that IT-4F can not only broaden the absorption range but also work as a morphology modifier in PM6:BTP-eC9:IT-4F OSCs, and there also exists efficient energy transfer between BTP-eC9 and IT-4F. Semiconductive metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with donor-acceptor (D-A) characteristics have garnered attractive attention due to their capacity for separating and transferring photogenerated charges, making them promising candidates for high-performance X-ray detectors. However, the low charge transfer efficiency between the metal nodes and organic ligands limits the X-ray-to-electricity conversion efficiency of these materials. Herein, an additional photoactive donor (D') is introduced by incorporating a heavy atom-containing polyoxometalate (POM) [α-SiW 12 O 40 ] 4- into a binary {[Ni·bcbp·(H 2 O) 2 ]·(H 2 O) 4 ·Cl} n (Ni-bcbp, bcbp: H 2 bcbp·2Cl = 1,1'-bis(4-carboxyphenyl)(4,4'-bipyridinium) dichloride) MOF, resulting in a semiconductive ternary D-D'-A framework {[Ni 2 (bcbp) 2 ·(H 2 O) 4 ·(DMA)]·(SiW 12 O 40 )} n (SiW@Ni-bcbp, DMA: dimethylacetamide). The obtained material features an unprecedented porous 8-connected bcu-net structure that accommodates nanoscale [α-SiW 12 O 40 ] 4- counterions, displaying uncommon optoelectronic responses. In contrast to binary Ni-bcbp, the SiW@Ni-bcbp framework exhibits distinctive photochromism and robust X-ray responsiveness, which can be attributed to the synergistic effects of the electron reservoir and multiple photoinduced electron transfer originating from the POMs. As a result, the X-ray detector based on SiW@Ni-bcbp demonstrates a sensitivity of 5741.6 µC Gy air -1 cm -2 with a low detection limit of 0.49 µGy air s -1 . Touch control intention recognition is an important direction for the future development of human-machine interactions (HMIs). However, the implementation of parallel-sensing functional modules generally requires a combination of different logical blocks and control circuits, which results in regional redundancy, redundant data, and low efficiency. Here, a location-and-pressure intelligent tactile sensor (LPI tactile sensor) unprecedentedly combined with sensing, computing, and logic is proposed, enabling efficient and ultrahigh-resolution action-intention interaction. The LPI tactile sensor eliminates the need for data transfer among the functional units through the core integration design of the layered structure. It actuates in-sensor perception through feature transmission, fusion, and differentiation, thereby revolutionizing the traditional von Neumann architecture. While greatly simplifying the data dimensionality, the LPI tactile sensor achieves outstanding resolution sensing in both location (<400 µm) and pressure (75 Pa). Synchronous feature fusion and decoding support the high-fidelity recognition of action and combinatorial logic intentions. Benefiting from location and pressure synergy, the LPI tactile sensor demonstrates robust privacy as an encrypted password device and interaction intelligence through pressure enhancement. Unlike traditional photoluminescence (PL), mechanoluminescence (ML) achieved under mechanical excitation demonstrates unique characteristics such as high penetrability, spatial resolution, and signal-to-background ratio (SBR) for bioimaging applications. However, bioimaging with organic mechanoluminescent materials remains challenging because of the shallow penetration depth of ML with short emission wavelengths and the absence of a suitable mechanical force to generate ML in vivo. To resolve these issues, the present paper reports the achievement of ultrasound (US)-excited fluorescence and phosphorescence from purely organic luminogens for the first time with emission wavelengths extending to the red/NIR region, with the penetrability of the US-excited emission being considerably higher than that of PL. Consequently, US-excited subcutaneous phosphorescence imaging can be achieved using a mechanoluminescent-luminogen-based capsule device with a quantified intensity of 9.15 ± 1.32 × 10 4 p s -1 cm -2 sr -1 and an SBR of 24. Moreover, the US-excited emission can be adequately tuned using the packing modes of the conjugated skeletons, dipole orientation of mechanoluminescent luminogens, and strength and direction of intermolecular interactions. The direct production of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) through photocatalytic reaction via H2O and O2 is considered as an ideal approach. However, the efficiency of H2O2 generation is generally limited by insufficient charge and mass transfer. Covalent organic framework (COFs) offer a promising platform as metal-free photocatalyst for H2O2 production due to their potential for rational design at the molecular level. Herein, we integrated the multipolar structures and carboxyl groups into COFs to enhance the efficiency of photocatalytic H2O2 production in pure water without any sacrificial agents. The introduction of octupolar and quadrupolar structures, along with an increase of molecular planarity, created efficient oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) sites. Meanwhile, carboxyl groups could not only boost O2 and H2O2 movement via enhancement of pore hydrophilicity, but also promote proton conduction, enabling the conversion to H2O2 from ·O2-, which is the crucial intermediate product in H2O2 photocatalysis. Overall, we demonstrate that TACOF-1-COOH, consisting of optimal octupolar and quadrupolar structures, along with enrichment sites (carboxyl groups), exhibited a H2O2 yield rate of 3542 μmol h-1 g-1 and a solar-to-chemical (SCC) efficiency of 0.55%. Organic near-infrared (NIR) room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) materials become a hot topic in bioimaging and biosensing for the large penetration depth and high signal-to-background ratio (SBR). However, it is challenging to achieve persistent NIR phosphorescence for severe nonradiative transitions by energy-gap law. Herein, a universal system with persistent NIR RTP is built by visible (host) and NIR phosphorescence (guest) materials, which can efficiently suppress the nonradiative transitions by rigid environment of crystalline host materials with good matching, and further promote phosphorescence emission by the additional phosphorescence resonance energy transfer (≈100%) between them. The persistent NIR phosphorescence with ten-folds enhancement of RTP lifetimes, compared to those of guest luminogens, can be achieved by modulation of aggregated structures of host-guest systems. This work provides a convenient way to largely prolong the phosphorescence lifetimes of various NIR luminogens, promoting their application in afterglow imaging with deeper penetration and higher SBRs., (© 2024 The Author(s). Ultrathin perfect absorber (UPA) enables efficient photothermal conversion (PC) in renewable chemical and energy systems. However, it is challenging so far to obtain efficient absorption with thickness significantly less than the wavelength, especially considering the common view that an ultrathin film can absorb at most 50% of incident light. Here, a highly light-absorbing and mechanically stable UPA is reported by learning from the honeycomb mirror design of the crab compound eyes. With the hollow apertures enclosed by the self-supporting ultrathin film of reduced graphene oxide and gold nanoparticles, the absorber achieves spoof-plasmon enhanced broadband absorption in solar spectrum and low radiative decay in infrared. Specifically, a strong absorption (87%) is realized by the apertures with cross-section thickness of 1/20 of the wavelength, which is 7.3 times stronger than a planar counterpart with the identical material. Its high PC efficiency up to 64%, with hot-electron temperature as high as 2344 K, is also experimentally demonstrated. Utilizing its low thermal mass nature, a high-speed visible-to-infrared converter is constructed. The utility of electrochemical active biofilm in bioelectrochemical systems has received considerable attention for harvesting energy and chemical products. However, the slow electron transfer between biofilms and electrodes hinders the enhancement of performance and still remains challenging. Here, using Fe 3 O 4 /L-Cys nanoparticles as precursors to induce biomineralization, a facile strategy for the construction of an effective electron transfer pathway through biofilm and biological/inorganic interface is proposed, and the underlying mechanisms are elucidated. Taking advantage of an on-chip interdigitated microelectrode array (IDA), the conductive current of biofilm that is related to the electron transfer process within biofilm is characterized, and a 2.10-fold increase in current output is detected. The modification of Fe 3 O 4 /L-Cys on the electrode surface facilitates the electron transfer between the biofilm and the electrode, as the bio/inorganic interface electron transfer resistance is only 16% compared to the control. The in-situ biosynthetic Fe-containing nanoparticles (e.g., FeS) enhance the transmembrane EET and the EET within biofilm, and the peak conductivity increases 3.4-fold compared to the control. The in-situ biosynthesis method upregulates the genes involved in energy metabolism and electron transfer from the transcriptome analysis. Organic afterglow materials have significant applications in information security and flexible electronic devices with unique optical properties. It is vital but challenging to develop organic afterglow materials possessing controlled output with multi-stimuli-responsive capacity. Herein, dimethyl terephthalate (DTT) is introduced as a strong proton acceptor. The migration direction of N─H protons on two compounds Hs can be regulated by altering the excitation wavelength (Ex) or amine stimulation, thereby achieving dual-stimuli-responsive afterglow emission. When the Ex is below 300 nm, protons migrate to S 1-2 DTT , where strong interactions induce phosphorescent emission of Hs, resulting in afterglow behavior. Conversely, when the Ex is above 300 nm, protons interact with the S 0 DTT weakly and the afterglow disappears. In view of amine-based compounds with higher proton accepting capabilities, it can snatch proton from S 1-2 DTT and redirect the proton flow toward amine, effectively suppressing the afterglow but obtaining a new redshifted fluorescence emission with Δλ over 200 nm due to the high polarity of amine. Aqueous zinc-ion hybrid capacitors (ZIHCs), as ideal candidates for high energy-power supply systems, are restricted by unsatisfied energy density and poor cycling durability for further applications. The construction of a surface-functionalized carbon cathode is an effective strategy for improving the performance of ZIHCs. Herein, a high-performance ZIHC is achieved using oxygen-rich hierarchically porous carbon rods (MDPC-X) prepared by the pyrolysis of a metal-organic framework (MOF) assisted by KOH activation. The MDPC-X samples displayed high electric double-layer capacitance (EDLC) and pseudocapacitance owing to their oxygen-rich surfaces, abundant electroactive sites, and short ions/electron transfer lengths. The surface oxygen functional groups for the reversible chemical adsorption/desorption of Zn 2+ are identified using ex situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Consequently, the as-assembled ZIHC exhibited a high capacity of 323.4 F g -1 (161.7 mA h g -1 ) at 0.5 A g -1 and a retention of 147 F g -1 (73.5 mA h g -1 ) at an ultrahigh current density of 50 A g -1 , corresponding to high energy and power densities of 145.5 W h kg -1 and 45 kW kg -1 , respectively. Furthermore, an excellent cycling life with 96.5% of capacity retention is also maintained after 10 000 cycles at 10 A g -1 , demonstrating its promising potential for applications., (© 2023 Wiley‐VCH GmbH.)

High-performance proton exchange membrane (PEM) is crucial for the proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). Herein, a novel "self-enhanced" PEM is fabricated for the first time, which is composed of perfluorinated sulfonic acid (PFSA) resin and its own nanofibers as reinforcement. With this strategy, the interfacial compatibility issue of conventional fiber-reinforced membranes is fully addressed and up to 80 wt% loading of PFSA nanofibers can be incorporated. Furthermore, on account of chain orientation within the PFSA nanofiber, single fiber exhibits super-high conductivity of 1.45 S cm -1 , leading to state-of-the-art proton conductivity (1.1 S cm -1 ) of the as-prepared "self-enhanced" PEM so far, which is an order of magnitude increase compared with the bulk PFSA membrane (0.29 S cm -1 ). It surpasses any commercial PEM including the popular GORE-SELECT and Nafion HP membranes and is the only PEM with conductivity at 10 0 S cm -1 level. In addition, the mechanical strength and swelling ratio of membranes are both substantially improved simultaneously. Based on the high-performance "self-enhanced" PEM, high peak power densities of up to 3.6 W cm -2 and 1.7 W cm -2 are achieved in H 2 -O 2 and H 2 -Air fuel cells, respectively. Metal-organic phosphorescent complexes containing Ir or Pt are work horse in organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology, which can harvest both singlet and triplet excitons in electroluminescence (EL) owing to strong heavy-atom effect. Recently, organic room-temperature phosphorescence (ORTP) have achieved high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) in rigid crystalline state, which, however, is unsuitable for OLED fabrication, therefore leading to an EL efficiency far low behind those of metal-organic phosphorescent complexes. Here, we reported a luminescence mechanism switch from thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) in single crystal microwires to ORTP in amorphous thin-films, based on a tert-butylcarbazole difluoroboron β-diketonate derivative of DtCzBF2. Tightly packed and well-faceted single-crystal microwires exhibit aggregation induced emission (AIE), enabling TADF microlasers at 473 nm with an optical gain coefficient as high as 852 cm -1 . In contrast, loosely packed dimers of DtCzBF2 formed in guest-host amorphous thin-films decrease the oscillator strength of fluorescence transition but stabilize triplets for ORTP with a PLQY up to 61 %, leading to solution-processed OLEDs with EQE approaching 20 %. Failure to reconstruct the Lactobacillus microbiota is the major reason for the recurrence of vaginal infection. However, most empiric therapies focus on the efficacy of pathogen elimination but do not sufficiently consider the viability of Lactobacillus. Herein, cotton fibers with a lactic acid-like surface (LC) are fabricated by NaIO 4 oxidation and L-isoserine grafting. The lactic acid analog chain ends and imine structure of LC can penetrate cell walls to cause protein cleavage in Escherichia coli and Candida albicans and inhibit vaginal pathogens. Meanwhile, the viability of Lactobacillus acidophilus is unaffected by the LC treatment, thus revealing a selective way to suppress pathogens as well as provide a positive route to re-establish protective microbiota in the vaginal tract. Moreover, LC has excellent properties such as good biosafety, antiadhesion, water absorption, and weight retention. In South and Southeast Asia, the habit of chewing betel nuts is prevalent, which leads to oral submucous fibrosis (OSF). OSF is a well-established precancerous lesion, and a portion of OSF cases eventually progress to oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). However, the specific molecular mechanisms underlying the malignant transformation of OSCC from OSF are poorly understood. In this study, the leading-edge techniques of Spatial Transcriptomics (ST) and Spatial Metabolomics (SM) are integrated to obtain spatial location information of cancer cells, fibroblasts, and immune cells, as well as the transcriptomic and metabolomic landscapes in OSF-derived OSCC tissues. This work reveals for the first time that some OSF-derived OSCC cells undergo partial epithelial-mesenchymal transition (pEMT) within the in situ carcinoma (ISC) region, eventually acquiring fibroblast-like phenotypes and participating in collagen deposition. Complex interactions among epithelial cells, fibroblasts, and immune cells in the tumor microenvironment are demonstrated. Most importantly, significant metabolic reprogramming in OSF-derived OSCC, including abnormal polyamine metabolism, potentially playing a pivotal role in promoting tumorigenesis and immune evasion is discovered. The ST and SM data in this study shed new light on deciphering the mechanisms of OSF-derived OSCC. As a reliable energy-supply platform for wearable electronics, biosupercapacitors combine the characteristics of biofuel cells and supercapacitors to harvest and store the energy from human's sweat. However, the bulky preparation process and deep embedding of enzyme active sites in bioelectrodes usually limit the energy-harvesting process, retarding the practical power-supply sceneries especially during the complicated in vivo motion. Herein, a MXene/single-walled carbon nanotube/lactate oxidase hierarchical structure as the dual-functional bioanode is designed, which can not only provide a superior 3D catalytic microenvironment for enzyme accommodation to harvest energy from sweat, but also offers sufficient capacitance to store energy via the electrical double-layer capacitor. A wearable biosupercapacitor is fabricated in the "island-bridge" structure with a composite bioanode, active carbon/Pt cathode, polyacrylamide hydrogel substrate, and liquid metal conductor. The device exhibits an open-circuit voltage of 0.48 V and the high power density of 220.9 µW cm -2 at 0.5 mA cm -2 . The compact conformal adhesion with skin is successfully maintained under stretching/bending conditions. After repeatedly stretching the devices, there is no significant power attenuation in pulsed output. As a promising low-cost and high-safety energy storage candidate, zinc-ion hybrid capacitors (ZIHCs) have received extensive attention. For maximizing the advantages of ZIHC with high energy density and high power density, the structural engineering of the porous carbon materials is the crucial and effective strategy. Herein, an oxygen-enriched hierarchical porous carbon has been fabricated from the pyrolysis of olive leaves combing the chemical activation. The abundant interfacial active sites and short ions/electrons transfer length endow the hierarchical porous carbon cathode with high ions adsorption capacity and fast kinetic behaviors. Meanwhile, the oxygen-rich functional groups can provide extra pseudocapacitance and improve the wettability and conductivity of porous carbon. Benefiting from these advantages, an anti-self-discharge ZIHC device with a high energy-power feature has been assembled. The electrochemical process is studied by ex situ X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) methods. Finally, an excellent energy density of 136.3 W h kg -1 , and high power output of 20 kW kg -1 , as well as long cycle life with 91% capacity retention over 20 000 cycles at 10 A g -1 are realized by as-assembled ZIHC., (© 2023 Wiley-VCH GmbH.)

A wide variety of low-dimensional nanomaterials with excellent properties can meet almost all the requirements of functional materials for information sensing, processing, and feedback devices. Low-dimensional nanomaterials are becoming the star of hope on the road to pursuing human-machine-thing natural interactions, benefiting from the breakthroughs in precise preparation, performance regulation, structural design, and device construction in recent years. This review summarizes several types of low-dimensional nanomaterials commonly used in human-machine-thing natural interactions and outlines the differences in properties and application areas of different materials. According to the sequence of information flow in the human-machine-thing interaction process, the representative research progress of low-dimensional nanomaterials-based information sensing, processing, and feedback devices is reviewed and the key roles played by low-dimensional nanomaterials are discussed. In this study, using PM6:L8-BO as the main system and non-fullerene acceptor IDIC as the third component, a series of ternary organic solar cells (TOSCs) are fabricated. The results reveal that IDIC plays a significant role in enhancing the performance of TOSCs by optimizing the morphology of blended films and forming interpenetrating nanostructure. The improved film morphology facilitates exciton dissociation and collection in TOSCs, which causes an increase in the short-circuit current density (J SC ) and fill factor (FF). Further, by optimizing the IDIC content, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of TOSCs reaches 18.9%. Besides, the prepared TOSCs exhibit a J SC of 27.51 mA cm -2 and FF of 76.64%, which are much higher than those of PM6:L8-BO-based organic solar cells (OSCs). Furthermore, the addition of IDIC improves the long-term stability of the OSCs. Meanwhile, TOSCs with a large effective area of 1.00 cm 2 have been prepared, which exhibit a PCE of 12.4%. Synaptic devices that mimic biological synapses are considered as promising candidates for brain-inspired devices, offering the functionalities in neuromorphic computing. However, modulation of emerging optoelectronic synaptic devices has rarely been reported. Herein, a semiconductive ternary hybrid heterostructure is prepared with a D-D'-A configuration by introducing polyoxometalate (POM) as an additional electroactive donor (D') into a metalloviologen-based D-A framework. The obtained material features an unprecedented porous 8-connected bcu-net that accommodates nanoscale [α-SiW 12 O 40 ] 4- counterions, displaying uncommon optoelectronic responses. Besides, the fabricated synaptic device based on this material can achieve dual-modulation of synaptic plasticity due to the synergetic effect of electron reservoir POM and photoinduced electron transfer. And it can successfully simulate learning and memory processes similar to those in biological systems. Intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is a common cause of low back pain. Understanding its molecular mechanisms is the basis for developing specific treatment. To demonstrate that miR-22-3p is critical in the regulation of IDD, miRNA microarray analyses are conducted in conjunction with in vivo and in vitro experiments. The miR-22-3p knockout (KO) mice show a marked decrease in the histological scores. Bioinformatic analysis reveals that miR-22-3p plays a mechanistic role in the development of IDD by targeting SIRT1, which in turn activates the JAK1/STAT3 signaling pathway. This is confirmed by a luciferase reporter assay and western blot analysis. Therapeutically, the delivery of miR-22-3p inhibitors and mimics through the synthesized nanoparticles in the IDD model alleviates and aggravates IDD, respectively. The nanocarriers enhance transportation of miR-22-3p to nucleus pulposus cells, thus enabling the in vivo inhibition of miR-22-3p for therapeutic purposes and consequently promoting the development of miRNA-specific drugs for IDD., (© 2023 Wiley-VCH GmbH.)

Nitrogen-heterocycle-based covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are considered promising candidates for the overall photosynthesis of hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ). However, the effects of the relative nitrogen locations remain obscured and photocatalytic performances of COFs need to be further improved. Herein, a collection of COFs functionalized by various diazines including pyridazine, pyrimidine, and pyrazine have been judiciously designed and synthesized for photogeneration of H 2 O 2 without sacrificial agents. Compared with pyrimidine and pyrazine, pyridazine embedded in TpDz tends to stabilize endoperoxide intermediate species, leading toward the more efficient direct 2e - oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) pathway. The development of novel sample preparation media plays a crucial role in pharmaceutical analysis. To facilitate the extraction and enrichment of pharmaceutical molecules in complex samples, various functionalized materials have been developed and prepared as adsorbents. Recently, some functionalized porous organic materials have become adsorbents for pharmaceutical analysis due to their unique properties of adsorption and recognition. These advanced porous organic materials, combined with consequent analytical techniques, have been successfully used for pharmaceutical analysis in complex samples such as environmental and biological samples. This review encapsulates the progress of advanced porous materials for pharmaceutical analysis including pesticides, antibiotics, chiral drugs, and other compounds in the past decade. Single cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) provides a great convenience for studying tumor occurrence and development for its ability to study gene expression at the individual cell level. However, patient-derived tumor tissues are composed of multiple types of cells including tumor cells and adjacent non-malignant cells such as stromal cells and immune cells. The spatial locations of various cells in situ tissues plays a pivotal role in the occurrence and development of tumors, which cannot be elucidated by scRNA-seq alone. Spatially resolved transcriptomics (SRT) technology emerges timely to explore the unrecognized relationship between the spatial background of a particular cell and its functions, and is increasingly used in cancer research. This review provides a systematic overview of the SRT technologies that are developed, in particular the more widely used cutting-edge SRT technologies based on next-generation sequencing (NGS). In addition, the main achievements by SRT technologies in precisely unveiling the underappreciated spatial locations on gene expression and cell function with unprecedented high-resolution in cancer research are emphasized, with the aim of developing more effective clinical therapeutics oriented to a deeper understanding of the interaction between tumor cells and surrounding non-malignant cells., (© 2023 The Authors. Ni single-atom catalysts (SACs) are appealing for electrochemical reduction CO 2 reduction (CO 2 RR). However, regulating the balance between the activity and conductivity remains a challenge to Ni SACs due to the limitation of substrates structure. Herein, the intrinsic performance enhancement of Ni SACs anchored on quasi-one-dimensional graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) synthesized is demonstrated by longitudinal unzipping carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The abundant functional groups on GNRs can absorb Ni atoms to form rich Ni-N 4 -C sites during the anchoring process, providing a high intrinsic activity. In addition, the GNRs, which maintain a quasi-one-dimensional structure and possess a high conductivity, interconnect with each other and form a conductive porous framework. The catalyst yields a 44 mA cm -2 CO partial current density and 96% faradaic efficiency of CO (FE CO ) at -1.1 V vs RHE in an H-cell. By adopting a membrane electrode assembly (MEA) flow cell, a 95% FE CO and 2.4 V cell voltage are achieved at 200 mA cm -2 current density. The luminescence materials act as the key components in many functional devices, as well as the detection and imaging systems, which can be permeated in each aspect of modern life, and attract more and more attention for the creative technology and applications. In addition to the diverse properties of organic luminogens, the multiple molecular packing at aggregated states frequently offers new and/or exciting performance. However, there still lacks comprehensive analysis of molecular packing in these organic materials, resulting in an increased gap between molecular design and practical applications. The buried interface in perovskite solar cells (PSCs) is pivotal for achieving high efficiency and stability. However, it is challenging to study and optimize the buried interface due to its non-exposed feature. Here, a facile and effective strategy is developed to modify the SnO 2 /perovskite buried interface by passivating the buried defects in perovskite and modulating carrier dynamics via incorporating formamidine oxalate (FOA) in SnO 2 nanoparticles. Both formamidinium and oxalate ions show a longitudinal gradient distribution in the SnO 2 layer, mainly accumulating at the SnO 2 /perovskite buried interface, which enables high-quality upper perovskite films, minimized defects, superior interface contacts, and matched energy levels between perovskite and SnO 2 . Significantly, FOA can simultaneously reduce the oxygen vacancies and tin interstitial defects on the SnO 2 surface and the FA + /Pb 2+ associated defects at the perovskite buried interface. Consequently, the FOA treatment significantly improves the efficiency of the PSCs from 22.40% to 25.05% and their storage- and photo-stability. As an efficient alternative for harnessing the energy from human's biofluid, a wearable energy harvesting-storage hybrid supercapacitor-biofuel cell (SC-BFC) microfluidic system is established with one multifunctional electrode. The electrode integrates metal-organic framework (MOF) derived carbon nanoarrays with embedded Au, Co nanoparticles on a flexible substrate, and is used for the symmetric supercapacitor as well as the enzyme nanocarriers of the biofuel cell. The electrochemical performance of the proposed electrode is evaluated, and the corresponding working mechanism is studied in depth according to the cyclic voltammetry and density functional theory calculation. The multiplexed microfluidic system is designed to pump and store natural sweat to maintain the continuous biofuel supply in the hybrid SC-BFC system. The biofuel cell module harvests electricity from lactate in sweat, and the symmetric supercapacitor module accommodates the bioelectricity for subsequent utilization. A numerical model is developed to validate the normal operation in poor and rich sweat under variable situations for the microfluidic system. One single SC-BFC unit can be self-charged to ≈0.8 V with superior mechanical durability in on-body testing, as well as energy and power values of 7.2 mJ and 80.3 µW, respectively. Ultraviolet (UV) communication is a cutting-edge technology in communication battlefields, and self-powered photodetectors as their optical receivers hold great potential. However, suboptimal charge utilization has largely limited the further performance enhancement of self-powered photodetectors for high-throughput communication application. Herein, a self-powered Ti 3 C 2 T x -hybrid poly(3,4 ethylenedioxythiophene):poly-styrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS)/ZnO (TPZ) photodetector is designed, which aims to boost charge utilization for desirable applications. The device takes advantage of photothermal effect to intensify pyro-photoelectric effect as well as the increased conductivity of the PEDOT:PSS, which significantly facilitated charge separation, accelerated charge transport, and suppressed interface charge recombination. Consequently, the self-powered TPZ photodetector exhibits superior comprehensive performance with high responsivity of 12.3 mA W -1 and fast response time of 62.2 µs, together with outstanding reversible and stable cyclic operation. Furthermore, the TPZ photodetector has been successfully applied in an integrated UV communication system as the self-powered optical receiver capable of real-time high-throughput information transmission with ASCII code under 9600 baud rate. Clean water scarcity and energy shortage have become urgent global problems due to population growth and human industrial development. Low-grade waste heat (LGWH) is a widely available and ubiquitous byproduct of human activities worldwide, which can provide effective power to address the fresh water crisis without additional energy consumption and carbon emissions. In this regard, 3D superhydrophilic polyurethane/sodium alginate (PU/SA) foam and LGWH-driven interfacial water evaporation systems are developed, which can precipitate over 80 L m -2  h -1 steam generation from seawater and has favorable durability for purification of high salinity wastewater. The excellent water absorption ability, unobstructed water transport, and uniform thin water layer formed on 3D skeletons of PU/SA foam ensure the strong heat exchange between LGWH and fluidic water. As a result, the heat-localized PU/SA foam enables the efficient energy utilization and ultrafast water evaporation once LGWH is introduced into PU/SA foam as heat flow. In addition, the precipitated salt on PU/SA foam can be easily removed by mechanical compression, and almost no decrease in water evaporation rate after salt precipitation and removal for many times. Meanwhile, the collected clean water has high rejection of ions of 99.6%, which meets the World Health Organization (WHO) standard of drinking water. Catalytic metal hydride hydrogen atom transfer (MHAT) reactions have proven to be a powerful method for alkene functionalization. This work reports the discovery of Co-porphines as highly efficient MHAT catalysts with a loading of only 0.01 mol % for unprecedented chemoselective allene functionalization under photoirradiation. Moreover, the newly developed bimetallic strategy by the combination of photo Co-MHAT and Ti catalysis enabled the successful carbonyl allylation with a wide range of amino, oxy, thio, aryl, and alkyl-allenes providing expedient access to valuable β-functionalized homoallylic alcohols in over 100 examples with exceptional regio- and diastereoselectivity. Phosphorescence of organic materials is highly dependent on intermolecular interactions, for the sensitive triplet excitons toward environment and aggregated structures. However, until now, relationship between phosphorescence and intermolecular interactions is still unclear for complicated influence factors and uncontrollable aggregated behaviors. Herein, taking temperature as the controlled variable, the afterglow can continuously change from blue to green, then to yellow, even achieve the white emission with deuteration process. It is mainly due to the hierarchical architectures of molecular aggregates with rational distribution of intermolecular interactions, as well as gradually unlocking process of interactions with different energies. Cobalt phthalocyanine (CoPc) has attracted particular interest owing to its excellent activity during the electrochemical CO 2 conversion to CO. However, the efficient utilization of CoPc at industrially relevant current densities is still a challenge owing to its nonconductive property, agglomeration, and unfavorable conductive substrate design. Here, a microstructure design strategy for dispersing CoPc molecules on a carbon substrate for efficient CO 2 transport during CO 2 electrolysis is proposed and demonstrated. The highly dispersed CoPc is loaded on a macroporous hollow nanocarbon sheet to act as the catalyst (CoPc/CS). The unique interconnected and macroporous structure of the carbon sheet forms a large specific surface area to anchor CoPc with high dispersion and simultaneously boosts the mass transport of reactants in the catalyst layer, significantly improving the electrochemical performance. Physical disruption is an important antibacterial means as it is lethal to bacteria without spurring antimicrobial resistance. However, it is very challenging to establish a quantifiable relationship between antibacterial efficacy and physical interactions such as mechanical and electrical forces. Herein, titanium nitride (TN) nanowires with adjustable orientations and capacitances are prepared to exert gradient electro-mechanical forces on bacteria. While vertical nanowires show the strongest mechanical force resulting in an antibacterial efficiency of 0.62 log reduction (vs 0.22 for tiled and 0.36 for inclined nanowires, respectively), the addition of electrical charges maximizes the electro-mechanical interactions and elevates the antibacterial efficacy to more than 3 log reduction. Biophysical and biochemical analyses indicate that electrostatic attraction by electrical charge narrows the interface. The electro-mechanical intervention more easily stiffens and rips the bacteria membrane, disturbing the electron balance and generating intracellular oxidative stress. The antibacterial ability is maintained in vivo and bacteria-challenged rats are protected from serious infection. The physical bacteria-killing process demonstrated here can be controlled by adjusting the electro-mechanical interactions. Poly[bis(4-phenyl)(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)amine] (PTAA) represents the state-of-the-art hole transport material (HTM) in inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, unsatisfied surface properties of PTAA and high energy disorder in the bulk film hinder the further enhancement of device performance. Herein, a simple small molecule 10-(4-(3,6-dimethoxy-9H-carbazol-9-yl)phenyl)-3,7-bis(4-vinylphenyl)-10H-phenoxazine (MCz-VPOZ) is strategically developed for in situ fabrication of polymer hole conductor (CL-MCz) via a facile and low-temperature cross-linking technology. The resulting polymer CL-MCz offers high energy ordering and improved electrical conductivity, as well as appropriate energy-level alignment, enabling efficient charge carrier collection in the devices. Meanwhile, CL-MCz synchronously provides satisfied surface wettability and interfacial functionalization, facilitating the formation of high-quality perovskite films with fewer bulk iodine vacancies and suppressed carrier recombination. Significantly, the device with CL-MCz yields a champion efficiency of 23.9% along with an extremely low energy loss down to 0.41 eV, which represents the highest reported efficiency for non-PTAA-based polymer HTMs in inverted PSCs. Furthermore, the corresponding unencapsulated devices exhibit competitive shelf-life stability under various operational stressors up to 2500 h, reflecting high promises of CL-MCz in the scalable PSC application. Organic circularly polarized (CP) lasers have received increasing attention due to their future photoelectric applications. Here, we demonstrate a CP laser from a pure organic crystal-filled microcavity without any chiral molecules or chiral structures. Benefited from the giant anisotropy and excellent laser gain of organic crystals, optical Rashba-Dresselhaus spin-orbit coupling effect can be induced and is conductive to the CP laser in such microcavities. The maximum dissymmetry factor of the CP lasing with opposite helicities reachs 1.2. Without external chiral intervention, it is a challenge to form homochirality from achiral molecules with conformational flexibility. We here report on a rational strategy that uses multivalent noncovalent interactions to clamp the molecular conformations of achiral D-A molecules. These interactions overcome the otherwise dominant dipole-dipole interactions and thus disfavor their symmetric antiparallel stacking. It in turn facilitates parallel packing, leading to spontaneous symmetry breaking during crystallization and thus the formation of homochiral conglomerates. When this emergent homochirality is coupled with optical gain characteristics of the molecules, the homochiral crystals are explored as excellent circularly polarized micro-lasers with low lasing threshold (16.4 μJ cm -2 ) and high dissymmetry factor g lum (0.9). Evaluating the delamination process in the synthesis of MXenes (2D transition metal carbides and nitrides) is critical for their development and applications. However, the preparation of large defect-free MXene flakes with high yields is challenging. Here, a power-focused delamination (PFD) strategy is demonstrated that can enhance both the delamination efficiency and yield of large Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene nanosheets through repetitive precipitation and vortex shaking processes. Following this protocol, a colloidal concentration of 20.4 mg mL -1 of the Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene can be achieved after five PFD cycles, and the yield of the basal-plane-defect-free Ti 3 C 2 T x nanosheets reaches 61.2%, which is 6.4-fold higher than that obtained using the sonication-exfoliation method. Both nanometer-thin devices and self-supporting films exhibit excellent electrical conductivities (≈25 000 and 8260 S cm -1 for a 1.8 nm thick monolayer and 11 µm thick film, respectively). Hydrodynamic simulations reveal that the PFD method can efficiently concentrate the shear stress on the surface of the unexfoliated material, leading to the exfoliation of the nanosheets. The PFD-synthesized large MXene nanosheets exhibit superior electrical conductivities and electromagnetic shielding (shielding effectiveness per unit volume: 35 419 dB cm 2 g -1 ). Topological photonics provides an important platform for the development of photonic devices with robust disorder-immune light transport and controllable helicity. Mixing photons with excitons (or polaritons) gives rise to nontrivial polaritonic bands with chiral modes, allowing the manipulation of helical lasers in strongly coupled light-matter systems. In this work, helical polariton lasing from topological valleys of an organic anisotropic microcrystalline cavity based on tailored local nontrivial band geometry is demonstrated. This polariton laser emits light of different helicity along different angular directions. The significantly enhanced chiral characteristics are achieved by the nonlinear relaxation process. Helical topological polariton lasers may provide a perfect platform for the exploration of novel topological phenomena that involve light-matter interaction and the development of polariton-based spintronic devices., (© 2022 The Authors. The spatial separation between the highest occupied and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals (HOMO and LUMO) in thermally activated delayed fluorescent (TADF) molecules leads to charge transfer (CT) states, which degrade the oscillator strength of emission transition and sacrifices high solid-state photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY), together limiting its application in organic solid-state lasers (OSSLs). Here, we demonstrated organic microwire lasers from TADF emitters that combine aggregation induced emission (AIE) and local excited (LE) state characteristics. The unique AIE and LE feature lead to a PLQY approaching 50 % and a high optical gain of 870 cm -1 for TADF microwires. The regenerated singlet excitons by reverse intersystem crossing (RISC) process are conducive to population inversion. As a result, we demonstrated microwire lasers around 465 nm with a low threshold of 3.74 μJ cm -2 . Therefore, our work provides insight to design TADF materials for OSSLs., (© 2022 Wiley-VCH GmbH.)

Solution-processed, high-gain, and wavelength-tunable perovskite single-crystal microdisk (PVKsc-MD) lasers have emerged as prospective coherent light sources in advanced nanophotonic designs. However, the inevitable multi-directional emission from a highly symmetrical cavity leads to low light collection efficiency which greatly hinders its application in integrated optical circuits. Here, we report on surface-patterned MAPbBr 3 PVKsc-MDs synthesized by a cost-efficient bottom-up solution process employing spin-coating and confined-growth nanoimprinting. The patterned microdisks have high crystal quality with regular shape and sharp edges and nano-grating structure on the upper surface. This straightforward process yields surface-patterned PVKsc-MD lasers with a low lasing threshold and high quality (Q) factor. Ultrathin 2D semiconductor devices are considered to have beyond-silicon potential but are severely troubled by the high Schottky barriers of the metal-semiconductor contacts, especially for p-type semiconductors. Due to the severe Fermi-level pinning effect and the lack of conventional semimetals with high work functions, their Schottky hole barriers are hardly removed. Here, an all-van-der-Waals barrier-free hole contact between p-type tellurene semiconductor and layered 1T'-WS 2 semimetal is reported, which achieves a zero Schottky barrier height of 3 ± 9 meV and a high field-effect mobility of ≈1304 cm 2 V -1 s -1 . The formation of such contacts can be attributed to the higher work function of ≈4.95 eV of the 1T'-WS 2 semimetal, which is in sharp contrast with low work function (4.1-4.7 eV) of conventional semimetals. Ionic (2 e - ) nucleophilic addition of allylmetal regents to imines dominates the synthesis of homo-allyl amine; however, single electron (1 e - ) mediated imine allylation with feedstocks butadiene as an alternative allyl source remains unexplored. In this work, we report a conceptually different radical-radical cross-coupling strategy for the synthesis of a homoallyl amine between an α-amino alkyl radical and a transient allylic radical. Flexibly and precisely manipulating 3D droplet transportation is a fundamental challenge for broad implications in diagnostics, drug delivery, bioengineering, etc. Herein, a light method is developed for manipulating a droplet to make it behave like a submarine. This light method enables flexible 3D transportation, stable suspension, and floating of a droplet, which can be freely altered. It is demonstrated that the localized photothermal effect induced thermocapillary flow in the water droplet/oil phase is responsible for energizing and manipulating the droplet. With such remarkable motility, the light-fueled submarine-like droplet successfully realizes various functions such as the acid-base detection, particle capture and transportation, and target crystal collection, dissolution and transportation. Rubidium cation (Rb + ) addition is witnessed to play a pivotal role in boosting the comprehensive performance of organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite solar cells. However, the origin of such success derived from irreplaceable superiorities brought by Rb + remains ambiguous. Herein, grain-boundary-including atomic models are adopted for the accurate theoretical analysis of practical Rb + distribution in perovskite structures. The spatial distribution, covering both the grain interiors and boundaries, is thoroughly identified by virtue of synchrotron-based grazing-incidence X-ray diffraction. On this basis, the prominent elevation of the halogen vacancy formation energy, improved charge-carrier dynamics, and the electronic passivation mechanism in the grain interior are expounded. As evidenced by the increased energy barrier and suppressed microcurrent, the critical role of Rb + addition in blocking the diffusion pathway along grain boundaries, inhibiting halide phase segregation, and eventually enhancing intrinsic stability is elucidated. Hence, the linkage avalanche effect of occupied location dominated by subtle changes in Rb + concentration on electronic defects, ion migration, and phase stability is completely investigated in detail, shedding a new light on the advancement of high-efficiency cascade-incorporating strategies and perovskite compositional engineering., (© 2022 Wiley-VCH GmbH.)

It is a challenge to spontaneously harvest multiple clean sources from the environment for upgraded energy-converting systems. The ubiquitous moisture and sunlight in nature are attractive for sustainable power generation especially. A high-performance light-coordinated "moist-electric generator" (LMEG) based on the rational combination of a polyelectrolyte and a phytochrome is herein developed. By spontaneous adsorption of gaseous water molecules and simultaneous exposure to sunlight, a piece of 1 cm 2 composite film offers an open-circuit voltage of 0.92 V and a considerable short-circuit current density of up to 1.55 mA cm -2 . This record-high current density is about two orders of magnitude improvement over that of most conventional moisture-enabled systems, which is caused by moisture-induced charge separation accompanied with photoexcited carrier migration, as confirmed by a dynamic Monte Carlo device simulation. Flexible devices with customizable size are available for large-scale integration to effectively work under a wide range of relative humidity (about 20-100%), temperature (10-80 °C), and light intensity (30-200 mW cm -2 ). The wearable and portable LMEGs provide ample power supply in natural conditions for indoor and outdoor electricity-consuming systems. For high-performance anion exchange membrane fuel cells (AEMFCs), the anion exchange membrane (AEMs) should be as thin as possible to reduce the ohmic resistance. However, the mechanical stability of ultrathin AEMs cannot be guaranteed, as well as a huge risk of gas (H 2 &O 2 ) permeation. In this work, composite AEMs based on ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) are prepared by in situ bulk polymerization. The as-prepared composite membranes can be as thin as 4 µm, and possess super high strength beyond 150 MPa. It also shows extremely low hydrogen permeation, low water uptake, low dimensional swelling, high conductivity, and good alkaline stability. In addition, the fuel cell performance based on the ultrathin composite AEMs exhibits outstanding peak power density of 1014 and 534 mW cm -2 for H 2 -O 2 and H 2 -Air (CO 2 -free) at 65 °C, respectively, as well as good short-term durability., (© 2022 Wiley-VCH GmbH.)

Intramolecular noncovalent interactions (INIs) have served as a powerful strategy for accessing organic semiconductors with enhanced charge transport properties. Herein, we apply the INI strategy for developing dopant-free hole-transporting materials (HTMs) by constructing two small-molecular HTMs featuring an INI-integrated backbone for high-performance perovskite solar cells (PVSCs). Upon incorporating noncovalent S⋅⋅⋅O interaction into their simple-structured backbones, the resulting HTMs, BTORA and BTORCNA, showed self-planarized backbones, tuned energy levels, enhanced thermal properties, appropriate film morphology, and effective defect passivation. More importantly, the high film crystallinity enables the materials with substantial hole mobilities, thus rendering them as promising dopant-free HTMs. Consequently, the BTORCNA-based inverted PVSCs delivered a power conversion efficiency of 21.10 % with encouraging long-term device stability, outperforming the devices based on BTRA without S⋅⋅⋅O interaction (18.40 %). Direct charge trapping memory, a new concept memory without any dielectric, has begun to attract attention. However, such memory is still at the incipient stage, of which the charge-trapping capability depends on localized electronic states that originated from the limited surface functional groups. To further advance such memory, a material with rich hybrid states is highly desired. Here, a van der Waals heterostructure design is proposed utilizing the 2D graphdiyne (GDY) which possesses abundant hybrid states with different chemical groups. In order to form the desirable van der Waals coupling, the plasma etching method is used to rapidly achieve the ultrathin 2D GDY with smooth surface for the first time. With the plasma-treated 2D GDY as charge-trapping layer, a direct charge-trapping memory based on GDY/MoS 2 is constructed. This bilayer memory is featured with large memory window (90 V) and high degree of modulation (on/off ratio around 8 × 10 7 ). Two operating mode can be achieved and data storage capability of 9 and 10 current levels can be obtained, respectively, in electronic and opto-electronic mode. This GDY/MoS 2 memory introduces a novel application of GDY as rich states charge-trapping center and offers a new strategy of realizing high performance dielectric-free electronics, such as optical memories and artificial synaptic., (© 2021 The Authors.
