Objective: Total hip arthroplasty (THA) effectively treats end‐stage hemophilic hip arthropathy. Given hemophilia's unique characteristics, perioperative bleeding remains a significant risk for patients undergoing THA. Tranexamic acid (TXA), an efficient antifibrinolytic agent, may benefit the outcomes of THA for patients with hemophilia (PWH). This study aims to explore the clinical efficacy of intra‐articular injection of TXA in treating perioperative bleeding in PWH and assess its additional clinical benefits. Methods: The retrospective study comprised data of PWH who received THA from January 2015 to December 2021 in the research center. A total of 59 individuals were included in the study, divided into a TXA group (n = 31) and a non‐TXA group (n = 28). We compared various parameters, including total blood loss (TBL), visible blood loss (VBL), occult blood loss (OBL), intraoperative coagulation factor VIII (FVIII) consumption, perioperative total FVIII consumption, hemoglobin (HB), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C‐reactive protein (CRP), length of hospital stay, hospitalization costs, length of surgery, total protein, activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), D‐dimer, rate of joint swelling, hip joint range of motion (ROM), visual analogue scale (VAS), and Harris hip joint function scale (HHS) between the two groups. Follow‐up assessments were conducted for up to 24 months. A Student's t test was utilized for the statistical analysis. Results: This study demonstrated that intra‐articular TXA effectively reduced TBL (1248.19 ± 439.88 mL, p < 0.001), VBL (490.32 ± 344.34 mL, p = 0.003), and OBL (757.87 ± 381.48 mL, p = 0.004) in PWH who underwent THA. TXA demonstrated effectiveness in reducing VAS scores on POD1, POD7, and POD14 and joint swelling rates on POD1, POD7, POD14, and at discharge (p < 0.05). Additionally, the TXA group achieved higher HHS ratings at all follow‐up time points (p < 0.05), showing superior hip joint mobility, lower postoperative inflammation levels, reduced factor VIII consumption during surgery, and less postoperative nutritional loss. No statistically significant differences were observed between the two groups in terms of hospital stay, hospitalization costs, surgery duration, and coagulation indicators. Conclusion: Intra‐articular injection of TXA reduces perioperative bleeding in PWH undergoing THA while also improving joint mobility, post‐operative rehabilitation, and quality of life. Comprehensive Summary: Organic fluorine compounds are ubiquitous and pivotally important organic molecules, yet their activation and transformation have long been a formidable challenge due to the high energy and low reactivity of C—F bonds. Organic electrosynthesis, an environmentally benign synthetic method in organic chemistry, enables a myriad of chemical transformations without the need for external redox reagents. In recent years, organic electrochemistry has emerged as a powerful tool for achieving the activation and transformation of C—F bonds in fluorine‐containing compounds. This review aims to succinctly recapitulate the latest advancements in the electrochemical defluorinative transformations of C—F bonds and to delve into the reaction design, mechanistic insights, and developmental prospects of these methods. Key Scientists: In 1959, Lund was the first to pioneer the electroreduction of CF3 to CH3 group. Electrochemistry has lately provided new opportunities for efficient conversion of organic fluorides. In 2020, Zhou and coworkers discovered the electrochemical defluorinative carboxylation of α‐CF3 alkenes. Lambert and colleagues reported electrophotocatalytic defluorinative amination of aryl fluorides. Electrochemical hydrodefluorination of trifluoromethylketones was developed by Lennox and coworkers in 2021. In the same year, Wang and Guo disclosed electrochemical radical defluorinative alkylation of α‐CF3 alkenes with Katritzky salts as the alkyl radical precursors. Subsequently, Wu and Liao described a transition‐metal‐free, site‐selective C—F arylation of polyfluoroarenes with (het)arenes using paired electrophotocatalysis. In 2023, numerous efforts were made to achieve electrochemical C—F bond activation. BACKGROUND: Pseudostellaria heterophylla is a Chinese medicine and healthy edible that is widely used to for its immunomodulatory, antioxidant, antidiabetic and antitussive properties. However, the potential function of P. heterophylla in intestinal microecology remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the impact of P. heterophylla on immune functions and evaluated its potential to regulate the gut microbiota and metabolome. RESULTS: The results showed that P. heterophylla significantly increased the content of red blood cells, total antioxidant capacity and expression of immune factors, and decreased platelet counts when compared to the control under cyclophosphamide injury. In addition, P. heterophylla altered the diversity and composition of the gut bacterial community; increased the abundance of potentially beneficial Akkermansia, Roseburia, unclassified Clostridiaceae, Mucispirillum, Anaeroplasma and Parabacteroides; and decreased the relative abundance of pathogenic Cupriavidus and Staphylococcus in healthy mice. Metabolomic analyses showed that P. heterophylla significantly increased the content of functional oligosaccharides, common oligosaccharides, vitamins and functional substances. Probiotics and pathogens were regulated by metabolites across 11 pathways in the bacterial–host co‐metabolism network. CONCLUSION: We demonstrated that P. heterophylla increased the abundance of probiotics and decreased pathogens, and further stimulated host microbes to produce beneficial secondary metabolites for host health. The fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in Chinese megacities has declined significantly after the implementation of strict mitigation strategies since 2013. However, the concentration of wintertime nitrate in PM2.5 (p‐NO3‐) has only changed slightly and became the dominant inorganic component despite considerable precursor emission reductions. Discerning chemical mechanisms leading to nitrate growth during haze events is critical to implementing effective pollution mitigation policies. The oxygen isotope anomaly of nitrate (Δ17O(NO3−)) is a powerful means to distinguish nitrate formation mechanisms. Nevertheless, the observed high Δ17O(NO3−) values were significantly underestimated by chemical transport models during extreme haze events (PM2.5 > 225 μg m−3) in Beijing, indicating an incomplete understanding of nitrate chemistry. To reconcile this model‐observation discrepancy, we compiled reported Δ17O(NO3−) data in Beijing haze along with relevant observational parameters (e.g., hydroxyl (OH) reactivity, peroxyl radical concentrations), then tested assumptions on Δ17O of key precursors (e.g., OH and nitrogen dioxide (NO2)), recalculated Δ17O(NO3−) and compared them with observations. Our results indicate that considering heterogeneous dinitrogen pentoxide reactions on chlorine‐containing aerosols (N2O5 + Cl− chemistry) with a nitryl chloride (ClNO2) yield of ∼0.75 can explain the observed high Δ17O(NO3−) during extreme haze events. According to the Δ17O(NO3−) data, on average this heterogeneous N2O5 + Cl− chemistry can explain ∼60% of nighttime nitrate production and make daytime and nocturnal pathways equally important in winter Beijing haze (PM2.5 > 75 μg m−3). Our results highlight the critical role of reactive chlorine chemistry in air pollution/chemistry in inland cities. Plain Language Summary: Δ17O(NO3−) is an independent tool to assess nitrate formation mechanisms. However, the GEOS‐Chem model persistently underestimates the observed Δ17O(NO3−) during extreme haze periods in urban Beijing, implying an unknown or misunderstood NOx chemistry characterized by high Δ17O signatures. Here, we aim to reconcile this discrepancy to advance our understanding of nitrate formation mechanisms in winter haze. To this end, we reassess the isotopic signatures of key precursors relating to NOx chemistry constrained by atmospheric chemistry parameters (e.g., OH reactivity, hydrogen peroxyl (HO2) and organic peroxyl (RO2) radicals, and ozone (O3)). We find that (a) steady‐state OH radical should bear positive Δ17O values but are unable to reconcile the gap between the observed and modeled Δ17O(NO3−); (b) ClNO2 production is efficient under haze conditions in urban Beijing, which is able to explain the gap between the observed and modeled Δ17O(NO3−). The photolysis of ClNO2 has significant effects on atmospheric oxidative capacity and aerosol pollution. Although halogen chemistry prevails in the marine boundary layer, our results highlight the importance of halogen chemistry in nitrate pollution, which should be comprehensively incorporated into air quality models and field observational research to better understand atmospheric chemistry in urban air. In the article, an event‐triggered control policy is developed for a robotic manipulator with flexible joint (RMFJ) in the presence of finite‐time convergence under the requirement of output constraints. Due to the vibration existing in the flexible joint, compared with the rigid manipulator, it is exceedingly difficult for RMFJ to design an adaptive method for realizing highly accurate control. In order to reduce and restrain the vibration of the flexible joint, a finite‐time convergence policy is designed by introducing the fractional order term. Moreover, the angular displacements of the link are constrained in the predefined region by using the Barrier function, which further enhances the operation safety. Engineering anthocyanin biosynthesis in herbs could provide health‐promoting foods for improving human health. Rehmannia glutinosa is a popular medicinal herb in Asia, and was a health food for the emperors of the Han Dynasty (59 B.C.). In this study, we revealed the differences in anthocyanin composition and content between three Rehmannia species. On the 250, 235 and 206 identified MYBs in the respective species, six could regulate anthocyanin biosynthesis by activating the ANTHOCYANIDIN SYNTHASE (ANS) gene expression. Permanent overexpression of the Rehmannia MYB genes in tobacco strongly promoted anthocyanin content and expression levels of NtANS and other genes. A red appearance of leaves and tuberous/roots was observed, and the total anthocyanin content and the cyanidin‐3‐O‐glucoside content were significantly higher in the lines overexpressing RgMYB41, RgMYB42, and RgMYB43 from R. glutinosa, as well as RcMYB1 and RcMYB3 in R. chingii and RhMYB1 from R. henryi plants. Knocking out of RcMYB3 by CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing resulted in the discoloration of the R. chingii corolla lobes, and decreased the content of anthocyanin. R. glutinosa overexpressing RcMYB3 displayed a distinct purple color in the whole plants, and the antioxidant activity of the transgenic plants was significantly enhanced compared to WT. These results indicate that Rehmannia MYBs can be used to engineer anthocyanin biosynthesis in herbs to improve their additional value, such as increased antioxidant contents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Using high‐precision zircon U‐Pb ID‐TIMS geochronology, tuffs from the Chang 9 shale and the Chang 7 shale were dated. The tuff in the Chang 9 shale is 241.47 ± 0.17 Ma, which falls between the top tuff age of 241.06 ± 0.12 Ma and the bottom tuff age of 241.558 ± 0.093 Ma in the Chang 7 shale. These reveal that the Chang 9 and Chang 7 shales are contemporaneous, belonging to the Ladinian stage of the Middle Triassic. This insight expands the region of the main source rock of Chang 7 to the northeast and will inform the search for the deep Chang 9 shale petroleum system, increasing the scope for exploring the Chang 7 shale system in northern Shaanxi. The research results clarify the relationship between the two sets of shale in the Yanchang Formation and redefine the distribution range of the Chang 7 shale in the Ordos Basin. At the same time, it shows that there is a cross‐layer problem in the stratigraphic division of the Yanchang Formation in different regions, the high‐precision U‐Pb dating technology providing a reference for the fine stratigraphic correlation of other continental basins in the world. With simple alkanes as the alkyl radical precursors under microwave irradiation, a convenient and efficient cross‐dehydrogenative alkylation reaction of quinoxalin‐2(1H)‐ones and other N‐heteroarenes has been achieved. The application of biochar and plant‐growth‐promoting bacteria (PGPBs) in biocontrol soil‐borne pathogens has garnered worldwide interest recently. However, how agricultural replanting disease is alleviated by a combination of biochar and PGPBs treatment (SYBB) remains largely unexplored. In this study, we investigated the beneficial effects of single biochar addition and the combination of biochar and PGPBs on alleviating replanting disease by altering the rhizosphere microbiome and metabolites. Our field experiment showed that the SYBB treatment had a better alleviating effect on replanting disease than the single biochar addition. The study indicated the dominant effect of deterministic processes on the bacterial community and of stochastic processes on the fungal community under biochar and PGPBs treatment. The combination of biochar and PGPBs tended to convert the stochastic processes of fungal community assembly into deterministic processes. We found SYBB treatment increased the abundance of potentially beneficial Pseudomonas, Lysobacter, Gemmatimonadetes and Nitrospira, and decreasing the abundance of potentially pathogenic Fusarium, Talaromyces and Fusarium oxysporum. Moreover, the SYBB treatment increased the abundances of carbohydrates, fatty acids and plant hormones, and decreased the abundances of amino acids in the rhizosphere soil. Co‐occurrence network analysis indicated that SYBB treatment increased the connections within the microbial communities and drove the alteration of co‐occurrence network among the microbial communities and metabolites, which increased positive correlations in bacteria‐metabolite networks and decreased positive correlations in fungi‐metabolite networks. Spearman correlation analysis showed the abundances of beneficial Streptomyces, Pseudomonas and Lysobacter were significantly and positively correlated to the metabolites most increased under SYBB treatment. The combination of biochar and PGPBs alleviated replanting disease by mediating the change of rhizosphere soil metabolites, and stimulating the proliferation of indigenous and beneficial soil microbes. Stable isotopic constraint and observationally coupled atmospheric chemistry model are two robust means to identify the oxidation mechanisms for atmospheric particulate nitrate (NO3−) production. However, large discrepancies between the two approaches have been noted in the heavily polluted environments of North China Plain (NCP). Herein, daily PM2.5 samples (n = 418) were collected at five urban cities across NCP during the winter of 2017–2018; the ionic species (e.g., NO3− and methanesulfonic acid: MSA) and the dual‐isotopic signatures of NO3− were quantified. In this study, we revisited the O isotopic signatures of atmospheric O‐bearing molecules, especially that of OH radical in accordance with the up‐to‐date field measurements conducted in NCP regions. In brief, the δ18O‐OH was determined by the competition between the OH loss reaction rate and its isotopic equilibration reaction with H2O. Our improved isotopic results suggested that the daytime OH oxidation pathway was as important as the nocturnal channels in wintertime nitrate production in NCP (46.4% vs. 53.6%), whereas the exceedingly high loadings of NO3− in haze days were attributed to the heterogeneous chemistry of N2O5 hydrolysis. Chemical analysis also confirmed the importance of active photochemistry in secondary components production, as the MSA (a photooxidation product) linearly correlated with the NO3− (R2 = 0.86, p < 0.05). Our preliminary results compared well with the recent model simulations (e.g., sophisticated 3D model and observationally constraint model). To alleviate the winter haze in NCP, future emission regulations should aim to reduce the photochemical oxidants, particularly their precursors of NOx and VOCs simultaneously. N, P dual‐doped porous carbon with high specific surface area of ∼2000 m2 g−1 was prepared via foaming‐carbonization process. It was demonstrated that the simple surface treatment and modification can conveniently further improve the catalytic performance of oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). The results showed that chemisorbed phosphorus can promote the surface treatment of sodium borohydride (NaBH4). The modified novel sites, adsorbing water molecules of a semi‐free state, promoted the offensive key steps of H2O molecules in ORR. After post‐treatment, the limit current density increased from 5.0 to 6.1 mA cm−2 with a decreased Tafel slope and the onset potential positively shifted. This surface‐modified catalyst was applied to Zn‐air battery and Al‐air battery, and had exhibited good applicability and excellent performances. Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the application value of shear wave elastography in the evaluation of tumor downstaging for locally advanced rectal cancer after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted using data from patients with locally advanced rectal cancer treated in our hospital who received endorectal ultrasound (ERUS) and shear wave elastographic examinations before and after chemoradiotherapy. The cases were grouped according to the postoperative pathologic tumor‐staging scores. The lesions were divided into 2 groups: 1 showing and the other not showing tumor downstaging. The efficacy of ERUS in diagnosis of tumor downstaging was calculated. The differences in the mean and maximum values of the Young modulus of the lesions before and after chemoradiotherapy between the groups were calculated and compared. Receiver operating characteristic curves were constructed by using the differences in the 2 kinds of values of the Young modulus. Results: The mean and maximum values of the Young modulus before and after chemoradiotherapy were significantly different (P <.05). The differences in the mean and maximum values of the Young modulus of rectal lesions between groups were statistically significant (P <.05). The results of the receiver operating characteristic curve showed that a difference in the mean value at 34.7 kPa was the optimal diagnostic threshold. Compared with ERUS, this standard showed a significant difference in diagnosis of tumor downstaging (P <.05). Conclusions: Shear wave elastography is an effective ultrasound elastographic technique to assist ERUS in evaluating lesions after chemoradiotherapy in rectal cancer. Background: Accumulating long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been recognized to participate in glioma development. Nevertheless, knowledge of the role of linc00294 in glioma remains incomplete. Methods: Bioinformatics analysis predicted the differential expression of LINC00294 and neurofilament medium (NEFM) in tumors and normal tissues, as well as the binding between LINC00294 and miR‐1278, miR‐1278 and NEFM. Luciferase and RNA immunoprecipitation assays were used for the verification of interactions. The potential role of LINC00294 in glioma development was investigated using functional assays, singly and in parallel with its interplay with miR‐1278 and NEFM. Cell counting kit‐8 and EdU assays were applied to measure cellular proliferation, whereas the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) method was employed to detect apoptosis. Results: A new lncRNA, LINC00294, was highly expressed in normal brain tissues. However, it was markedly down‐regulated in GBM tissues and glioma cell lines. Overexpression of LINC00294 abates glioma cell proliferation but induces apoptosis. Meanwhile, tumor suppressor NEFM was revealed to be distinctly diminished in cancerous conditions and enhanced in glioma cells by LINC00294 up‐regulation. Interactions of miR‐1278 with LINC00294 or NEFM occur, and the expression of NEFM is up‐regulated by LINC00294 through their competition with respect to binding to miR‐1278. Finally, the rescue assays further confirmed that LINC00294 inhibits glioma cell proliferation by absorbing miR‐1278 to enhance NEFM. Conclusions: Collectively, our observations demonstrate the tumor‐suppressive function of LINC00294 in glioma development by sponging miR‐1278 and promoting NEFM, suggesting a potential use in therapy for glioma. Summary of main observation and conclusion: Collismycins (COLs) are antibiotics characterized by a 2,2′‐bipyridine (2,2′‐BP) core composed of a trisubstituted ring A and an unmodified ring B. The 2,2′‐BP core, which possesses metal‐chelating ability and plays key roles in various biological activities of COLs, is biosynthesized by a nonribosomal peptide synthetase (NRPS)‐polyketide synthase (PKS) hybrid machinery. The starter module of the NRPS‐PKS hybrid machinery consists of a type II peptidyl carrier protein (PCP) ColA1a and an adenylation protein ColA1b. We here report the functional characterization of ColA1a and ColA1b in vitro, confirming their functions in selection and loading of picolinic acid (PA), instead of normal amino acid substrates, as the origin of ring B in COLs. The 2.1 Å crystal structure of ColA1a was solved, revealing structural features including the additional helices α1a, α1b and missing helix α3, which may reflect unique interactions of ColA1a with other NRPS‐PKS proteins/domains or substrate. Primary and tertiary structural comparison of ColA1a with other PCPs revealed the structural basis for their typical α‐helical bundle, providing a better understanding of the structural flexibility of PCPs. In order to decrease the electricity consumption of hydrogen generation, hydrazine‐assisted water electrolysis is intensively investigated recently. Herein, hierarchical nanostructure of ultrathin NiCo(OH)x nanosheets (NSs) that in‐situ grown on the NiCoP nanowires (NWs) was deposited on nickel foam (NF) to construct NiCo(OH)x@NiCoP/NF electrode. NiCoP NWs extend the surface area, spatial utilization of NF and enhance the electron conduction to the outmost NiCo(OH)x NSs. NiCo(OH)x NSs interlace to form regular mesoporous channels, which improve the structural stability and mass transfer rate. Moreover, NiCoP NWs enhance the adsorption of protons and the transfer of electrons, while NiCo(OH)x NSs facilitate the adsorption of OHad during reaction. As a result, NiCo(OH)x@NiCoP/NF exhibits excellent activity for both hydrazine oxidation reaction (HzOR) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Based on the NiCo(OH)x@NiCoP/NF||NiCo(OH)x@NiCoP/NF couples, electrolysis of hydrazine for hydrogen generation only requires an extremely low cell voltage of 0.03 V. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The sedimentary, paleogeomorphological and reservoir characteristics of the Jurassic Yan'an Formation in the southwestern Ordos Basin, northwestern China, were studied by means of casting thin sections, scanning electron microscopy, inclusion analysis and identification of low‐amplitude structures. A model for reservoir formation is established, and the controlling effects of sedimentary facies, paleotopography, low‐amplitude structures and formation water on oil reservoirs are revealed. There are significant differences in the sedimentary characteristics, structural morphology and paleowater characteristics between the reservoirs above the Yan 10 Member and those in the Yan 9 to Yan 7 Members. The Yan 10 Member contains fluvial sediments, whereas the Yan 9 to Yan 7 members contain delta‐plain anastomosing‐river deposits. The distribution of high‐permeability reservoir is controlled by pre‐Jurassic paleogeomorphology and sedimentary facies. Some of these facies exhibit high porosity and high permeability in a low‐permeability background. The main hydrocarbon accumulation period was the late Early Cretaceous, filling was continuous, and the charging strength altered from weak to strong and then from strong to weak. The Yan 10 reservoir is mainly controlled by the paleogeomorphology: hydrocarbons migrated upward at a high speed through the unconformity surface, and accumulated in the favorable traps formed by paleogeomorphic structural units, such as gentle slopes or channel island. Furthermore, groundwater alternation in these areas was relatively stagnant, providing good reservoir preservation conditions. The reservoirs in the Yan 9 and higher members are controlled by the sedimentary facies, low‐amplitude structure and paleowater characteristics. Hydrocarbons migrated through the three‐dimensional delivery system, influenced by favorable sedimentary facies and high‐salinity groundwater, then accumulated in the favorable low‐amplitude structural traps that formed during the hydrocarbon production period. One of the most important assumptions of the CSIA‐AA approach is that the initial offset (β) between glutamate and phenylalanine in primary producers should remain unchanged. However, the considerable difference in β values between algae (+3.4‰) and vascular plants (−8.0‰) raises concern regarding the application of the CSIA‐AA approach for complex ecosystems that depend on both resources. In the present study, a Bayesian mixing model was used to estimate the individual contribution of basal dietary resources to each consumer of Poyang Lake, and then, the β was reevaluated to adapt to the assimilation of the individual primary producer for each consumer specimen. In general, the contributions of vascular plant‐derived resources to most consumers are consistent with their feeding behaviors. The smaller contribution of vascular plants to planktivorous fish (usually less than 20%) is biologically expected because of their feeding ecology. Using this strategy, we successfully obtained realistic trophic positions (TP) of consumers in Poyang Lake, which are significantly different from traditional TPalgae or TPvascular. For instance, the TP value of grass carp (2.04) was consistent with the feeding behavior of this fish, i.e., they primarily feed on vascular hydrophytes. Therefore, the combination of the CSIA‐AA and Bayesian mixing model provides a better understanding of food web structures, even in a complex freshwater ecosystem. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

An effective Max-Fire CNN model MF-SarNet for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) automatic target recognition (ATR) is presented, here. By selecting the convolution kernel of the Fire module in the network, the parameters are reduced to obtain the effective convolutional neural network of less parameter. In view of the requirement of deep learning for large-scale data, an augmentation method is proposed, which can learn the features of large database better. Abstract: Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally. Accumulating evidence indicates that local resident stem/progenitor cells play an important role in vascular regeneration. Recently, it is demonstrated that a histone deacetylase 7‐derived 7‐amino acid peptide (7A, MHSPGAD) is critical in modulating the mobilization and orientated differentiation of these stem/progenitor cells. Here, its therapeutic efficacy in vascular repair and regeneration is evaluated. In vitro functional analyses reveal that the 7A peptide, in particular phosphorylated 7A (7Ap, MH[pSer]PGAD), could increase stem cell antigen‐1 positive (Sca1+) vascular progenitor cell (VPC) migration and differentiation toward an endothelial cell lineage. Furthermore, local delivery of 7A as well as 7Ap could enhance angiogenesis and ameliorate vascular injury in ischaemic tissues; these findings are confirmed in a femoral artery injury model and a hindlimb ischaemia model, respectively. Importantly, sustained delivery of 7A, especially 7Ap, from tissue‐engineered vascular grafts could attract Sca1+‐VPC cells into the grafts, contributing to endothelialization and intima/media formation in the vascular graft. Abstract: A simple sensitive LC–MS/MS method has been developed for the simultaneous determination of giraldoid A and giraldoid B in rat plasma. The method was applied to pharmacokinetics studies of the two compounds from Daphne giraldii Nitsche. Chromatographic separation was accomplished on an Acquity UPLC™ BEH C18 column (100 × 2.1 mm, 1.7 mm) by gradient elution with a flow rate of 0.2 mL min−1. The method was linear over the concentration range of 1.0–1000 ng mL−1, and the lower limits of quantification were 1.04 ± 0.10 and 1.04 ± 0.09 ng mL−1, respectively. The intra‐ and inter‐day precisions (RSD) were <10.14 and 9.96%. The extraction recovery of the analytes was acceptable. Stability studies demonstrated that the two compounds were stable in the preparation and analytical process. The maximum plasma concentration was 687.78 ± 243.62 ng mL−1 for giraldoid A and 952.38 ± 131.99 ng mL−1 for giraldoid B. The time to reach the maximum plasma concentration was 0.50 ± 0.37 h for giraldoid A and 0.50 ± 0.66 h for giraldoid B. ABSTRACT Ionic liquid (IL)-based lanthanide luminescent materials with luminescent downshifting properties are beneficial for enhancing the photovoltaic energy conversion efficiency ( ηpv) of silicon-based solar cells. Herein, novel lanthanide (III) complex-doped ILs have been successfully prepared by simply dissolving the complex Ln(pybox)3 (Ln = Eu or Tb, pybox = 2,6-bis[(4 R)-4-phenyl-2-oxazolinyl]pyridine) into a bidentate organophosphine functionalized IL (1,3-bis-[3-(diphenylphosphinyl)propyl]imidazolebis (trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide), showing improved luminescence efficiency attributed to the coordination of ILs with Ln3+ ions and thus occurrence of the energy transfer from ILs to Ln3+ ions and very high absolute quantum efficiency (up to 97.22%). Large area (17 × 17 cm2) flexible, transparent, and luminescent poly(methyl methacrylate) thin films were prepared through a simple drop-casting method and were applied as luminescent downshifting coatings to the silicon-based heterojunction solar cells (active area: 235 cm2). The nanocomposites of cobalt selenide and nickel selenide (Co0.85Se/Ni0.85Se) were successfully fabricated on FTO glass by a facile co-electrodeposition method at ambient temperature. Nanocomposite films were used as electrocatalysts in dye-sensitized solar cell counter electrodes for regeneration of both iodide/triiodide and cobalt(II/III) redox couples. Co0.85Se/Ni0.85Se were mainly composed of nanoflakes and nanoparticles. It is noted that such nanostructure generated by nanoparticles embedded with 2D nanoflakes led to high active sites and was accessible to cobalt(II/III) electrolyte, delivering better catalytic activity for the reduction of larger volume cobalt(II/III). As a result, for cobalt(II/III) electrolyte, the Co0.85Se/Ni0.85Se based dye-sensitized solar cell performed significantly improved efficiency than that of Pt and Co0.85Se. Meanwhile, the Co0.85Se/Ni0.85Se based dye-sensitized solar cell held comparable energy conversion efficiency to that of Pt and Co0.85Se for iodide/triiodide electrolyte. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study was designed to investigate the impact of cytochrome P450 ( CYP) 1 A2 polymorphisms on theophylline metabolism in a non-smoking healthy male Chinese population. Four polymorphisms CYP1 A2*1 C ( G-3860 A), G-3113 A, CYP1 A2*1 F ( C-163 A) and CYP1 A2*1 B ( C-5347 T) were screened in 238 unrelated male volunteers. Then, a single oral 200-mg dose of theophylline was administered to 37 volunteers, who were selected from 238 volunteers based on the CYP1 A2 genotype. CYP1 A2 activities were evaluated by plasma 1,7-dimethylxanthine/caffeine ratios (17 X/137 X) after administration of 100-mg caffeine. The plasma concentrations of theophylline, 17 X and 137 X were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography. The activity of CYP1 A2 was lower in volunteers with the -3113 AA genotype compared with those with the -3113 AG genotype (0.35 ± 0.04 versus 0.48 ± 0.07, p = 0.016) or the -3113 GG genotype (0.35 ± 0.04 versus 0.58 ± 0.22, p = 0.037). CYP1 A2*1 F polymorphisms were associated with increased CYP1 A2 activity in volunteers with -3860 G/-3113 G/5347 C homozygosity (0.66 ± 0.24 versus 0.46 ± 0.05, p = 0.034). However, theophylline metabolism showed no difference among volunteers carrying different haplotype pairs. CYP1 A2 genetic polymorphisms influenced CYP1 A2 enzyme activity as measured by caffeine, but CYP1 A2 gene polymorphisms appeared to have limited influence on theophylline metabolism in our study. This article presents a comprehensive review of the advancements in the use of Date Palm Fiber (DPF) reinforced composites, highlighting their mechanical, thermal, and morphological properties and the enhancements achieved through various modification techniques. Date palm fibers, a sustainable and biodegradable resource, have garnered significant interest due to their potential in reducing environmental impact across several key industries, including building and construction, automotive, and packaging. The review discusses the effects of hybrid approaches and physical and chemical treatments on the mechanical properties of DPF composites, demonstrating improvements in tensile strength, elasticity, and flexural strength through optimized fiber‐matrix bonding and reduced moisture absorption. Thermal behavior analyses through Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA), and thermal conductivity underscore the composites’ suitability for applications requiring high thermal stability and conductivity for insulation applications. Morphological studies reveal that surface‐treated fibers integrate more effectively with various polymeric matrices, leading to enhanced composite performance. The practical applications of DPF composites are explored, emphasizing their role in promoting sustainable manufacturing practices. Challenges such as scalability, cost‐efficiency, and performance consistency are addressed, alongside future perspectives that suggest a promising direction for further research and technological development in the field of natural fiber composites. Summary of main observation and conclusion: Collismycins (COLs) are antibiotics characterized by a 2,2′‐bipyridine (2,2′‐BP) core composed of a trisubstituted ring A and an unmodified ring B. The 2,2′‐BP core, which possesses metal‐chelating ability and plays key roles in various biological activities of COLs, is biosynthesized by a nonribosomal peptide synthetase (NRPS)‐polyketide synthase (PKS) hybrid machinery. The starter module of the NRPS‐PKS hybrid machinery consists of a type II peptidyl carrier protein (PCP) ColA1a and an adenylation protein ColA1b. We here report the functional characterization of ColA1a and ColA1b in vitro, confirming their functions in selection and loading of picolinic acid (PA), instead of normal amino acid substrates, as the origin of ring B in COLs. The 2.1 Å crystal structure of ColA1a was solved, revealing structural features including the additional helices α1a, α1b and missing helix α3, which may reflect unique interactions of ColA1a with other NRPS‐PKS proteins/domains or substrate. Primary and tertiary structural comparison of ColA1a with other PCPs revealed the structural basis for their typical α‐helical bundle, providing a better understanding of the structural flexibility of PCPs.
