Improving nitrogen efficiency is a crucial strategy for developing sustainable agricultural systems that leads to maximum yield in exchange for minimum inputs and nitrogen loss. Three maize hybrids (Zea mays L.) of different maturity classes and length of vegetation period (FAO 400, FAO 490, and FAO 380) were selected and for trials during the 2019 growing season. Three different nitrogen (N) fertilization treatments (0, 120, and 305 kg·N·ha−1) were applied in order to assess variability in yield-related components. The effect of hybrids, fertilizer, and the interaction of the examined hybrids in relation to fertilizer was significant on yield and oil and protein content. Correlation and biplot analysis show that increases in the lipid peroxidation (LP) amount in the plant leaf stages cause a decrease in the oil content of the harvested yield. The activity of ascorbate peroxidase (APX) and LP at the six-leaf stage directly affects the protein content. The amount of APX at the silking stage has a direct and significant effect on starch content. This study showed that the activity of APX at the silking stage has the highest value in all examined hybrids. Summary: This study aimed to summarize earlier randomized controlled trials on the effects of resveratrol supplementation on body weight (BW), body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC) and fat mass (FM). We searched PubMed, SCOPUS, Cochrane Library and Google Scholar from inception to April 2018 using relevant keywords. All clinical trials investigating the effects of resveratrol supplementation on BW, BMI, WC and FM in adults were included. Overall, 28 trials were included. Pooled effect sizes suggested a significant effect of resveratrol administration on weight (weighted mean differences [WMD]: −0.51 kg, 95% confidence interval [CI]: −0.94 to −0.09; I2 = 50.3%, P = 0.02), BMI (WMD: −0.17 kg m−2, 95% CI: −0.32, −0.03; I2 = 49.6%, P = 0.02) and WC (WMD: −0.79 cm, 95% CI: −1.39, −0.2; I2 = 13.4%, P = 0.009), respectively. However, no significant effect of resveratrol supplementation on FM was found (WMD: −0.36%, 95% CI: −0.88, 0.15; I2 = 0.0%, P = 0.16). Findings from subgroup analysis revealed a significant reduction in BW and BMI in trials using resveratrol at the dosage of <500 mg d−1, those with long‐term interventions (≥3 month), and performed on people with obesity. Objective: Previous studies have highlighted that narrative skill is critical to the development of the literacy skills by children. Children with cochlear implants (CI) and hearing aids (HA) may have problems in narrative development compared to peers with healthy hearing (HH). There is no exact data about the narrative writing ability of Persian‐speaking students who are hearing‐impaired. This study was undertaken to compare the microstructure and macrostructure scores for narrative writing of Persian‐speaking students who are hearing‐impaired and peers with HH. Design: This was a cross‐sectional descriptive‐analytical study. Setting: The subjects were recruited from elementary schools in the city of Tehran. Participants: A total of 144 elementary school students were participated. Outcome measures: The written narratives were elicited using a wordless pictorial storybook story. Three‐way ANOVA with post hoc adjusted Bonferroni test was applied to determine the main effects and interactions of grounded variables on the microstructure and macrostructure components of narrative writing. Results: No significant differences were observed in the macrostructure components of narrative writing between hearing‐impaired and HH students. Factors analysis showed that the 4th grade HH students had significantly the highest scores, and the 3rd grade HA students had significantly the lowest scores in microstructure components of narrative writing. Conclusion: The findings revealed that hearing‐impaired students similarly to their HH peers can transmit the main idea (macrostructure) of narrative writing, but show critical difficulties when using complete grammatical elements (microstructures) to form sentences to convey the idea in the narrative. Abstract: The effects of different dietary nucleotide mixture (NT) levels (0, 2, 4 and 6 g/kg) were investigated on the reproductive performance, fatty acid profile and biochemical parameters in Litopenaeus vannamei female that were co‐fed with fresh food (two times daily) and experimental diets (two times daily) for 30 days. Sampling was carried out at the first day of the trial, before eyestalk ablation (ESA) (day 21) and after ESA (day 30). Reproductive performance parameters including the hepatopancreatic index, absolute fecundity, egg diameter and latency period were higher in the NT‐supplemented groups than the control group (p < .05). Total n‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in the ovaries, especially eicosapentaenoic acid, were higher in the NT‐supplemented groups than in the control (222.6 ± 7.3 versus 204.7 ± 3.0 mg/g extracted lipid) (p < .05). Total hemocyte count, granular cells, plasma glucose (Glu), total protein (TP), calcium (Ca2+), total cholesterol (Chol), triglyceride (Tg) and high‐density lipoprotein (HDL) levels were significantly increased in the NT‐supplemented groups in comparison with the control group (p < .05). After ESA, the concentration of plasma Glu, TP, Chol and Tg significantly decreased, but HDL levels increased in all groups (p < .05). The effect of refrigerated storage temperature was studied at 2, 5 and 8°C on the viability of probiotics in ABY (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium lactis BB-12 and yogurt bacteria. Bulgaricus , i.e. Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus delbrueckii ssp. Bulgaricus ) probiotic yogurt. The study was carried out during a 20-day refrigerated storage period to identify the best storage temperature(s). Also, the viability change of the probiotic micro-organisms was analysed at 5-day intervals throughout the refrigerated storage period. After 20 days, storage at 2°C resulted in the highest viability of L. acidophilus , whereas for Bifidobacterium lactis the highest viability was obtained when yogurt was stored at 8°C. Iranian livestock diversity is still largely unexplored, in spite of the interest in the populations historically reared in this country located near the Fertile Crescent, a major livestock domestication centre. In this investigation, the genetic diversity and differentiation of 10 Iranian indigenous fat-tailed sheep breeds were investigated using 18 microsatellite markers. Iranian breeds were found to host a high level of diversity. This conclusion is substantiated by the large number of alleles observed across loci (average 13.83, range 7-22) and by the high within-breed expected heterozygosity (average 0.75, range 0.72-0.76). Iranian sheep have a low level of genetic differentiation, as indicated by the analysis of molecular variance, which allocated a very small proportion (1.67%) of total variation to the between-population component, and by the small fixation index ( FST = 0.02). Both Bayesian clustering and principal coordinates analysis revealed the absence of a detectable genetic structure. Also, no isolation by distance was observed through comparison of genetic and geographical distances. In spite of high within-breed variation, signatures of inbreeding were detected by the FIS indices, which were positive in all and statistically significant in three breeds. Possible factors explaining the patterns observed, such as considerable gene flow and inbreeding probably due to anthropogenic activities in the light of population management and conservation programmes, are discussed. This paper reports tests on a lab-scale surface aeration vessel was equipped with a Rushton turbine to examine its performance in terms of standard aeration efficiency (SAE), mixing time, and void fraction characteristics. These characteristics were investigated by tests using variations of rotor speed, impeller immersion depth, and water level. Results showed that variation of impeller immersion depth had a greater effect on the SAE compared to variation of water level. More over, the SAE increased with rotor speeds up to about 150 to 200 rpm and then decreased. In addition, void fraction improved by impeller immersion depth and rotor speed enhancement; however, mixing time and power number were reduced as rotor speed increased. According to the response surface methodology statistical optimizations, optimum values for rotor speed, impeller immersion depth, and water level were 168.90 rpm, 25 mm, and 30 cm, respectively, to achieve the maximum value of SAE. In present research, novel asymmetric polysulfone (PSF) membranes with high hydrophilicity and noticeable rejection of arsenic, as one of the major environmental problems, were prepared from PSF/Brij-58/NMP (1-methyl-2-pyrrolidone) system via immersion precipitation. Pure water was used as gelation media. The variation effect of coagulation bath temperature (CBT) and addition of Brij-58 on morphology, wettabiliy, pure water permeation flux and rejection of As (III) and As (V), as two dominant states of arsenic in the nature, were studied by scanning electron microscopy, contact angle measuring instrument and experimental setup. The results demonstrated that both hydrophilicity and rejection properties of the prepared membranes were significantly enhanced by small addition of Brij-58 surfactant in the casting solution along with using the lowest level of CBT. Addition of 4 wt. % of Brij-58 and using cold coagulation bath resulted in the highest rejection of As (V). Initial increase in Brij-58 concentration, from 0 wt. % to 2 wt. %, resulted in higher rejection of As (III). However, higher Brij-58 concentrations than 2 wt. % (increase from 2 wt. % to 6 wt. %) led to lower rejection of As (III). Also, it was found out that addition of Brij-58 in the casting solution along with increasing the CBT resulted in formation of membranes with high permeability and sub-layer porosity and thin top layer. This paper considers four types of the most prominent risks in the supply chain. Their subcriteria and relations between them and within the network are also considered. In a supply chain, risks are mostly created by fluctuations. The aim of this study is to adopt a strategy for eliminating or reducing risks in a supply chain network. Having various solutions helps the supply chain to be resilient. Therefore, five alternatives are considered, namely, total quality management (TQM), leanness, alignment, adaptability, and agility. This paper develops a new network of supply chain risks by considering the interactions between risks. Perhaps, the network elements have interacted with some or all of the factors (clusters) or subfactors. We constitute supply chain risks in the analytic network process (ANP), which attracted less attention in the previous studies. Most of the studies about making a decision in supply chains have been applied in analytic hierarchy process (AHP) network. The present study considers the ANP as a well-known multicriteria decision making (MCDM) technique to choose the best alternative, because of the interdependency and feedbacks of different levels of the network. Volatile fatty acids (VFAs) are key intermediates in anaerobic digestion. Enriched acetogenic and methanogenic cultures were used for the syntrophic anaerobic digestion of VFAs in a continuous fixedbed reactor at mesophilic conditions. The interactive effects of propionic (HPr), butyric (HBu), and acetic (HAc) acids were analyzed. Furthermore, hydraulic retention time (HRT) and methanogen-to-acetogen ratios (M/ As) were investigated as the key microbiological and operating variables of VFA anaerobic degradations. Experiments were carried out based on central composite design (CCD) and results were analyzed using response surface methodology (RSM). Effluent concentrations of HPr, HBu, HAc, and biogas production rate (BPR) were directly measured as responses. The optimum conditions were found to be HPr = 1122.9 mg/L, HBu = 1792.4 mg/L, HAc = 1735.4 mg/L, HRT = 21 hours, and M/A = 2.4 (corresponding to the maximum VFA removal and BPR). The coding of histology of nervous system (NS) tumors with various degrees of malignancies differs between cancer registries, whereby the comparison of incidence rates from one registry to another seems difficult. No study has systematically defined whether the change in the risk of NS tumors upon immigration in adulthood varies by subsite or histology. Therefore, we aimed to address this issue amongst the first-generation immigrants to Sweden based on a large uniform cancer registry data (1958-2006). The nationwide Swedish Family-Cancer Database (2008 version; >11.8 million individuals; 1.8 million immigrants; histology code in force since 1958) was used to calculate standardized incidence ratios (SIRs). We analyzed 28 981 adult cases of NS tumors amongst Swedes and 2519 amongst immigrants (age ≥30). Significantly decreased risks for brain glioma were amongst German (SIR = 0.64), Eastern European (0.62), some Asian (0.71), Chilean (0.34), and African immigrants (0.52). We found an increased risk for brain meningioma amongst Finns (1.15) and former Yugoslavians (1.33), whilst only Norwegians (0.71) and Latin Americans (0.21) had a decreased risk. The risk for spinal ependymoma and astrocytoma was increased in Germans (3.66) and former Yugoslavians (8.89). We found no significant difference for peripheral nerve tumors between immigrants and the native Swedes. Significant differences between risk of NS tumors amongst immigrants and the native Swedes may suggest different risk factor profiles for glioma compared to meningioma indicating a higher etiological role of genetic background or childhood environmental risk factors rather than exposures after immigration. The combined effects of heat treatment and incubation temperature were studied on the viability and fermentation time of probiotics in ABY 1 probiotic yogurt (Lactobacillus acidophilus , Bifidobacterium spp. and yogurt bacteria). Three levels of heat treatment (85°C for 30 min, 95°C for 5 min and 95°C for 15 min) and three levels of incubation temperature (37, 40 and 44°C) were selected. At the end of fermentation, the maximum viability of probiotics (for both L. acidophilus and Bifidobacterium spp. ) was observed when the milk was heated at 95°C for 15 min and incubated at 37°C. Incubation time was only affected by the incubation temperature and, at 37°C, the longest incubation time of about 6 h was needed to achieve the highest viable counts of L. acidophilus and Bifidobacterium spp. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The viscosity and shear‐thinning characteristics of non‐Newtonian fluids may impact the attachment and detachment dynamics of biofilms, influencing their stability and resilience under different flow conditions. The discussion spans multiple facets, including the role of extracellular polymeric substances (EPSs) in biofilm formation, the impact of rheological attributes of biofilm on their adhesion to surfaces, and the influence of shear forces between biofilms and substrate's surface characteristics on biofilm stability. Analytical techniques, encompassing rheometry, microscopy, and molecular biology approaches, are scrutinized for their contributions to understanding these interactions. The paper delves into the implications for the food industry, highlighting potential risks associated with biofilm formation and proposing strategies for effective control and prevention. Biofloc technology (BFT) is a relatively new microbial‐based cultivation system that can be adopted to accomplish more sustainable aquaculture and circularity goals. This review explores aspects of BFT integrating the utilization of probiotics and phytobiotics as dietary and water supplements. This scientific‐based snapshot unpacks some physiological pathways and brings a literature review on how these supplements can boost water quality, as well as aquatic species' growth, health, and survival. Probiotics, live microorganisms that confer health benefits on the host when administered in adequate dosage, are noted for their ability to bolster animal defenses and sustain water quality in farming conditions. Recent studies showcased that selected bacteria, yeast, and fungi, once added into biofloc‐based systems can enhance animal performance, act as a tool for water quality management and protect fish and crustaceans against diseases. On the other hand, phytobiotics are additives sourced from plants that normally are added into compounded feeds and are known for their health and growth benefits in aquatic animals. These additives contain plant‐based substances/extracts that play a key role to suppress inflammation, pathogens, and can also act as antioxidants. These selected ingredients can promote healthy gut microbiota, improve feed efficiency, and turn on genes responsible for immunity improving disease resistance of fish/shrimp. According to this review, the adoption of probiotics and phytobiotics in BFT can greatly increase farm outputs by producing healthier animals, as well as promoting growth and consistent yields. Lastly, this review showcases the importance of proper section of probiotics and phytobiotics in order to achieve a functioning BFT. Despite its numerous advantages, BFT faces several challenges, especially related to microbial management. Probiotics and phytobiotics are practical tools that can play a crucial role to obtain a more stable environment with a desirable microbial population in water and gut. Significant energy initiatives within the context of the "Belt and Road" are characterized by substantial financial transactions, intricate technological complexities, and prolonged construction timelines. Furthermore, the array of risk factors involved is diverse and continuously in flux. To identify pivotal risk indicators in investment projects, we employ the ISM‐MICMAC (interpretive structural modeling‐matriced impacts corise‐multiplication appliance classement) method. We integrate the Leaky Noisy‐OR gate model and dynamic Bayesian network (DBN) to formulate a dynamic model depicting the evolution of investment risk. This model enables us to trace the path of risk evolution at various temporal nodes through forward and backward reasoning. In a practical application of our methodology, we conduct an empirical analysis focusing on the M5 thermal power station in Belarus. The study findings reveal the establishment of a multidimensional and all‐encompassing index system. We identify primary factors contributing to project risk, notably including political instability and policy alterations. Additionally, we unveil the intricate interplay among risk factors within major energy projects and highlight specific risks at pivotal junctures in their development. Through the creation of a dynamic risk evolution model and the subsequent analysis of risk evolution paths, our work offers a foundational framework for conducting risk assessments and understanding the evolution of investments in energy projects within the Belt and Road initiative (BRI). The study's findings have important policy implications for improving the management of risks associated with BRI major energy projects, including enhancing government macroeconomic policies, strengthening industry associations, and optimizing enterprise risk management. Diabetes mellitus is a significant global health concern, especially in Iran. Currently, numerous oral antihyperglycemic agents and insulin are prescribed to manage diabetes. Historically, in Middle Eastern countries, medicinal herbals were used to manage diabetes in patients. Furthermore, the adverse effects of some diabetes management drugs provide an eager potential for researchers to find novel alternative treatments that reduce the side effects and also increase their efficacy. In addition, the rich history of Iranian traditional medicine reveals the vital role of traditional herbals and their compounds in treating and mitigating diabetes mellitus and its associated complications. Several studies conducted to investigate the hypoglycemic properties related to these plant species. In this narrative review, we aimed at a comprehensive study of Iranian plant species with antidiabetic properties through experimental evidence. Our review illustrated that the traditional herbal active ingredients are not well‐defined, limiting their standardization. Ginger, Zingiber officinale, is a medicinal herb widely used for its distinct flavor and medicinal properties. It contains various bioactive compounds, including zingerone, shogaols, gingerol saponin, polyphenols, and flavonoids, which confer anti‐inflammatory, antioxidant, and immunomodulatory effects. Ginger and its derivatives such as powder, essential oil, and active ginger extracts have been used as natural functional ingredients with health‐promoting and disease‐preventing properties. In recent studies, ginger derivatives have been tested in aquafeeds for their potential as safe herbal medicines. They have shown several benefits, acting as growth promoters and modulators of physiological and biochemical functions. Ginger has been found to improve growth performance, modulate immunity, and enhance disease resistance in fish. Its organic constituents exhibit potent anti‐stress, antibacterial, antiviral, and antiparasitic activities, thereby boosting the specific and nonspecific immunity of aquaculture fish. This review provides a comphrensive summary of studies exploring the effects of dietary ginger on various aspects of fish health including growth performance, blood parameters, immunity, disease resistance, gut morphology, antioxidant status, and molecular mechanisms. Furthermore, the review emphasizes the necessity of elucidating the specific bioactive compounds in ginger responsible for its biological functions and their mechanisms of action against infectious diseases in different fish species. This study investigated the effects on growth performance, intestinal histomorphology, blood parameters, gonadal development, antioxidant activity, and disease resistance against Aeromonas hydrophila of carp fed with cumin. Fish were fed diets containing 0, 1.0, and 3.0 mL kg−1 cumin for 60 days. At the end of the experiment, the use of cumin oil did not affect growth performances and survival rate after challenge with A. hydrophila (p > 0.05). However, villi length and goblet cells increased in carp fed with cumin diets. In addition, no pathological findings were observed in the hepatopancreas, gonad, and intestine tissues of carp fed with cumin. Total protein; albumin; aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, and alkaline phosphatase levels; superoxide dismutase; and catalase activity were similar in cumin oil supplemented groups compared with the control. Both male and female fecundity increased with the addition of 1.0 mL kg−1 cumin, whereas the addition of 3.0 mL kg−1 cumin caused a slight decrease in fertility. As a result, the use of cumin essential oil at 1 mL kg−1 concentration can be recommended to improve fish health and increase fertility in carp culture. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The testing of durum wheat (Triticum turgidum subsp. durum) varieties in different irrigated environments is critical for determining the stability of their performance and adaptation. In this study, 12 popular and newly developed durum wheat varieties were examined in eight irrigated locations with the purpose of investigating genotype–environment interaction and their effect on Ethiopian tetraploid wheat yield stability across diverse environments. The field experiment has two replications with a randomized complete block design. Multivariate (analysis of variance, additive main effect and multiplicative interaction [AMMI], and genetics, genetics × environment [GGE] biplot) and univariate (bi [regression coefficient], S2d [deviation from regression], σi2 [Shukla's stability variance], Wi2 [Wricke's ecovalence], YSi [yield stability statistic], and CVi [coefficient of variance]) analysis methods were used to identify stable varieties. The AMMI analysis showed that the genetic × environmental interaction was highly significant (p > 0.01), while the genotype and environment variation were not significant. The first two principal component axes (IPCA1 and IPCA2) were highly significant (p > 0.01) and contributed 79% of the total GE interaction. Univariate statistical models indicate that Bulala is a stable, high‐yielding variety that can adapt to various environments. GGE biplot analysis revealed that the eight test environments were clustered into three mega‐environments, ranked Bulala as the most stable variety across diverse environments. The results of the combined mean analysis, multivariate and univariate models revealed that Bulala is a high yielder (3.46 tons ha−1) and stable variety across all test environments, while Mukiye variety has a high yield (3.43 tons ha−1) but is not as stable or adaptive to multiple locations. As a result, Bulala was recommended for further demonstration and popularization in test locations and places with similar agroecologies under irrigation. N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is a recommended drug for treating acetaminophen (APAP) intoxication. Due to NAC's low bioavailability, this study aimed to use polyrhodanine (PR) nanoparticles (NPs) as a drug carrier to improve the effectiveness of NAC. After preparation and characterization of NAC loaded on PR, 30 rats were randomly divided into five groups of six. The first group (control) received normal saline. Groups 2-5 were treated with normal saline, PR, NAC, and NAC loaded on PR, respectively. The treatments were started 4 h after oral administration of APAP (2000 mg kg -1 ). After 48 h, the animals were anesthetized, and liver function indices and oxidative stress were measured in tissue and serum samples. The APAP administration can increase aminotransferases and alkaline phosphatase enzymes in serum, decreasing the total antioxidant capacity and thiol groups and increasing lipid peroxidation in liver tissue. Administration of PR-NAC could effectively improve the level of serum-hepatic enzymes, total antioxidant capacity and thiol groups, lipid peroxidation, and pathological changes in liver tissue in animals poisoned with APAP. PR-NAC has a significant therapeutic effect on preventing acute hepatotoxicity caused by APAP, and its effectiveness can be associated with an improvement in the oxidant/antioxidant balance of liver tissue., (© 2023 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.)

Using polygonal resonators and bended lines, a new type of dual-band bandpass filter (BPF) is presented generating a fixed passband centred at 2.70 ( f01) and an independently-electronically tunable passband ( f02) which can be tuned between 3.65 and 6.51 GHz (56% tuning range). The measured results indicate that the return losses of both passbands are >21 dB throughout the tuning range. Furthermore, the use of bended lines leads to extremely small size of 0.136 × 0.098λg², where λg is the guided wavelength at the lowest working frequency ( f01). In this study, we have developed a new platform of polyoxometalate as a biocompatible and electrosensitive polymeric biosensor for the accurate detection of doxorubicin. For this purpose, we used a green synthesis approach using tartaric acid, glutamic acid, and kombucha solvent. Thanks to its bioinorganic components, the biogenic approach can chemically modify and improve the performance of the biosensor, which was experimentally confirmed. Our results showed excellent sensitivity (175.72 μA·μM−1·cm−2), low detection limit (DL, 8.12 nM), and low quantification limit (QL, 0.056 μM) when the newly developed biosensor was used. The results also show that the biosynthesized biosensor has improved performance in detecting DOX in the biological fluid with an accuracy of more than 99% depending on the components used, which underlines the high efficiency of the biosensor produced. Considering the body's physiological condition, the biosensor fabricated as a biocompatible component can show high efficiency. Background: Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) of the prefrontal cortex (PFC) and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) have both been demonstrated as effective at alleviating neuropathic pain (NP). However, the comparative efficacy of these two neuromodulation techniques and the specific neural mechanisms underlying their effects remain unclear. Objective: This study aims to compare the efficacy of rTMS in the PFC and TENS in mitigating peripheral NP and to investigate the impact of rTMS on neuroinflammation. Methods: Eighteen adult male Sprague–Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups: NP (chronic constriction injury [CCI] group, n = 6), rTMS (n = 6), and TENS (n = 6). rTMS was applied to the PFC, while TENS was applied to the right hind limb of the rats 1 week postoperatively. This treatment regimen was administered once daily, 5 days a week, for 4 consecutive weeks. The paw withdrawal mechanical threshold (PWMT) was measured to assess the pain‐alleviating effects of rTMS and TENS. We further conducted enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) to measure the levels of interleukin (IL)‐1β, IL‐6, and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF‐α) in the PFC and L4–L6 spinal cord to evaluate their impact on neuroinflammation. Additionally, we examined transient receptor potential vanilloid type 1 (TRPV1) expression in the PFC and the L4‒L6 spinal cord using western blotting and real‐time quantitative reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (qRT‐PCR) to explore the potential mechanisms involved. Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining of the sciatic nerve was further performed to observe pathological changes. Results: Compared to the CCI group, both the rTMS and TENS groups exhibited a significant increase in PWMT, with the rTMS group demonstrating a notably greater PWMT than the TENS group. Furthermore, rTMS treatment triggered a significant decrease in IL‐1β, IL‐6, and TNF‐α levels in the PFC and spinal cord, while TENS only decreased IL‐1β expression in these regions. In both treatment groups, TRPV1 expression was significantly lower in the spinal cord, while H&E staining indicated improved pathological manifestations in the sciatic nerve. Conclusion: Both rTMS and TENS effectively ameliorated CCI‐induced NP, with rTMS of the PFC showing superior performance. Both treatments reduced TRPV1 expression and suppressed neuroinflammation in the spinal cord, indicating that this may be one of the mechanisms through which they exert their therapeutic effects. Baicalin concentration is concerned in manufacture of scutellaria spray drying powder as a traditional Chinese medicine, and the quality control based on high‐performance liquid chromatography is inconvenience. In this study, terahertz time domain spectroscopy was employed to achieve quality control of scutellaria spray drying powder; however, an acute difficulty was found that terahertz spectra overlapped due to the disturbance in both content matrix and measurement error. In this study, similar terahertz spectra of scutellaria spray drying powder were classified with the help of Gaussian mixture model and built a classifier based on probability feature instead of spectral features conventionally employed in previous investigations. To explore the feasibility of GMM, principal component analysis was given, indicating that it is possible to train GMM with original features and proper principal components. Probable advantage of training GMM based on PCA feature was discussed and so it was with the capacity of the model to identify the linear combined spectra by comparing the performance of GMM and a decision tree model. Above all, the reason why GMM shows potential in the analysis of TCM terahertz spectra was illustrated by comparing the thought of discriminative model and generative model. This study implied that generative model may have natural advantage of overcoming the inherent disturbance of terahertz spectroscopy, which would be promising in future studies. The prediction of consumers' electricity consumption is an important demand‐side energy management technique for adaptable dynamic tariff pricing. In this regard, historical consumption patterns play an important role in accurately predicting the future energy consumption. In this paper, we propose a novel system based on machine learning (ML) algorithms to accurately predict not only the future energy consumption based on historical data and various environmental factors but also energy‐saving recommendations for the consumers. The proposed system is evaluated on real‐world energy consumption data, and the results show that random forest (RF) more accurately predicts energy consumption with 98% R‐squared value and 0.51 root mean square error, whereas decision tree (DT) is best fit for personalized energy recommendations resulting in 85% R‐squared and 0.14 root mean square error. The implementation of this system will greatly assist utility companies in making precise future energy consumption forecasts to formulate demand‐side energy management policies which are cost‐effective for both consumers and utility companies. Apple is a perishable fruit due to its higher moisture content, which leads to spoilage and also reduces its shelf life. To improve the storage stability of apples, drying is the most effective and oldest method as it leads to the reduction of water activity. In the present study, dried apple slices were developed from "Golden Delicious" apples. The suggested methodology involves the use of dried apple slices with skin and a thickness of 4.5 mm, pretreated with 1% salt solution for 15 min. The drying process takes place at a temperature of 50°C for 3 h, followed by a temperature of 90°C for 2 h. The water activity of salt‐ and KMS‐pretreated dried apple slices was 0.422 ± 0.00 and 0.438 ± 0.01, respectively, whereas a higher value 0.473 ± 0.01 of water activity was observed in untreated dried apple slices, demonstrating better stability. Also, compared to the control sample, the pretreated slices showed 13% lesser shrinkage due to drying, thereby retaining its shape. The total phenolic content was the lowest in the control sample (101.52 ± 0.37 mg GAE/100 g), while a significant increase was observed in KMS‐pretreated (115.44 ± 4.08 mg/100 g) and salt‐pretreated (131.55 ± 0.58 mg/100 g) dried apple slices. Moreover, antioxidant activity also was higher in salt‐pretreated dried apple slices. Texture profile analysis revealed that the developed apple slices had better crispiness than nonpretreated ones. A 30‐day research was carried out to examine the impacts of dietary taurine (Tau) on ovaries maturation and physiological responses of Penaeus vannamei female brooders (29.4 ± 0.2 g). A basal diet (497 g kg−1 protein and 140 g kg−1 lipid) was administered with graded levels of Tau ranging from 0 (control) to 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 g kg−1. A total of 180 shrimp brooders were stocked into 18 250 L black circular polyethylene tanks. Female (n = 5) and male (n = 5) shrimps were stocked in each tank and supplied with seawater (35.2 ± 3.1 g L−1 salinity, 28.9 ± 1.4°C) and the experimental feeds were offered to shrimp twice a day at 5% of their biomass. Supplementing diet with 4–8 g Tau kg−1 reduced latency period after eye stalk ablation to spawning (5–6 days) that was associated with higher hepatopancreatic and gonadosomatic (except for 8 g Tau kg−1 diet) indices (p < 0.05). With 10 g Tau kg−1 diet hepatopancreas glutathione peroxidase activity and total antioxidant capacity increased and catalase activity increased by 6 g Tau kg−1 diet. Supplementing diet with Tau‐enhanced bile‐salt dependent lipase activity in the gut. Docosahexaenoic acid and Tau levels were elevated in the ovaries with the increment of dietary Tau level (p < 0.05). Plasma total protein, calcium, cholesterol, and high‐density lipoprotein increased with inclusion of 6–10 g Tau kg−1 diet. The transcription levels of vitellogenin, insulin-like growth factor II, superoxide dismutase, prophenoloxidase, and lysozyme genes transcription levels were upregulated in the hepatopancreas of shrimp brooders fed 6–10 g Tau kg−1 diet (p < 0.05). The dietary lipid level is closely associated with ovarian maturation of broodstock. However, optimal lipid requirements during broodstock gonad development for aquatic animals remain limited. In order to assess the impact of dietary lipid levels (6%, 8%, 10%, 12%, and 14% lipid, denoted as L6%, L8%, L10%, L12%, and L14%) on the ovarian maturation, antioxidant status, and messenger RNA (mRNA) expression of genes involved in the lipid metabolism of Macrobrachium rosenbergii broodstock (initial weight 10.53 ± 1.97 g), this study carried out an 8‐week feeding experiment. The findings showed that while there was no significant difference in the survival rate across the groups (p > 0.05), the weight gain observed in prawns fed the 8% lipid‐level diet was significantly higher than those fed other diets (p < 0.05). The hepatosomatic index and the gonadosomatic index showed a significant increase with the rise in dietary lipid level (p < 0.05). More ovaries from M. rosenbergii broodstock reached stages Ⅲ and Ⅳ after being supplemented with dietary lipid levels between 8% and 14%. Serum glucose content did not show any significant difference among all groups (p > 0.05), but serum triglyceride and total cholesterol content increased followed by a decreasing trend with increasing levels of dietary lipids, both peaking in the prawns fed a 10% lipid‐level diet. Furthermore, the progesterone (PROG) and 17β‐estradiol (E2) content of prawns fed the 10% and 12% lipid‐level diets were significantly higher compared to other groups (p < 0.05). Based on serum E2 and PROG content, the optimal lipid level needed for maximal ovarian maturation was determined to be 11.79% and 10.88%, respectively. Moreover, there were more endogenous vitellogenic oocytes in prawns fed 8% and 10% lipid‐level diets, with a more compact arrangement compared to the less tightly arranged structure of the ovarian tissue in prawns fed other diets. With the increase in dietary lipid levels, there was a significant increase in the activity of superoxide dismutase. The activities of total antioxidant capacity and glutathione peroxidase initially increased and then decreased significantly, peaking at prawns fed 8% and 10% lipid‐level diets, respectively (p < 0.05). The malondialdehyde content reached its lowest point in prawns fed a diet containing 10% lipid. In addition, the mRNA expressions of hepatopancreatic diacylglycerol acyltransferase and acetyl‐CoA carboxylase showed the highest values in prawns fed a 10% lipid diet. Conversely, there was a significant decrease in the mRNA expression of carnitine palmitoyltransferase‐1a in the hepatopancreatic as dietary lipid levels increased. The highest mRNA expression of fatty acid‐binding proteins was observed in prawns fed an 8% lipid diet. Dental caries is a global oral health issue that is prevalent and preventable. Biotics (probiotics, prebiotics, symbiotics, and postbiotics) are recommended as low‐cost methods for preventing dental caries. This scoping review aimed to critically review the scientific evidence concerning the role of biotics in caries prevention and maintaining oral health benefits. A systematic search was conducted in several databases from 2012 onward, using specific keywords. The search resulted in 69 articles. While there is limited research on the mechanism of biotics in preventing caries, numerous studies have investigated the impacts of probiotics on decreasing caries risk factors. Probiotics can reduce cariogenic bacteria, reduce acidogenic bacteria, increase pH, and produce antimicrobial compounds. Probiotics can be used as a therapeutic approach to manage caries by restoring eubiosis at the host–microbial interface, which may not be accomplished with traditional therapies. Its positive effect on reducing dental caries is influenced by the choice of potent probiotic strains, appropriate dosage, treatment period, vehicle, and microbial interaction with the host. Specific oral bacteria have also been shown to utilize prebiotics such as urea and arginine, increasing pH levels. This highlights the potential of combining prebiotic and probiotic bacteria for caries prevention. In addition, this review is focused on bacterial‐derived compounds, namely postbiotics, due to their valuable effects in preventing caries. Biotics have demonstrated potential in preventing dental caries and maintaining oral health. Obtaining reliable low‐frequency seismic data is crucial for effectively reducing cycle‐skipping in full waveform inversion. However, acquiring high signal‐to‐noise ratio low‐frequency information from field data remains a challenge. An effective solution to mitigate cycle‐skipping is to utilize low‐frequency information synthesized by neural networks to obtain low‐wavenumber initial models. Previous attempts to reconstruct synthetic low‐frequency data using supervised learning methods have shown feasibility but were limited to training with synthetic data that required labeled information. In this study, we employed an unsupervised learning method, namely cycle‐consistent adversarial networks (CycleGAN), to reconstruct large‐scale‐feature related low‐frequency information based on the high‐frequency input data. Unlike supervised learning, CycleGAN allows the use of field data as input to train the network, which is more closely aligned with practical applications. Nevertheless, this approach presents challenges in terms of training complexity and potential output stability. To overcome these challenges, we reconstructed an appropriate target data set that combines high, medium, and low‐frequency components and incorporated additional loss functions to enhance the network's output performance. We conducted quantitative evaluations of the method's sensitivity to the target data set and its ability to handle low‐quality input data through numerical testing. The final results from field data testing confirmed the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method. Underground storage in geologic formations will play a key role in the energy transition by providing low‐cost storage of renewable fuels such as hydrogen. The sealing qualities of caverns leached in salt and availability of domal salt bodies make them ideal for energy storage. However, unstable boundary shear zones of anomalous friable salt can enhance internal shearing and pose a structural hazard to storage operations. Considering the indistinct nature of internal salt heterogeneities when imaged with conventional techniques such as reflection seismic surveys, we develop a method to map shear zones using seismicity patterns in the US Gulf Coast, the region with the world's largest underground crude oil emergency supply. We developed and finetuned a machine learning algorithm using tectonic and local microearthquakes. The finetuned model was applied to detect microearthquakes in a 12‐month long nodal seismic dataset from the Sorrento salt dome. Clustered microearthquake locations reveal the three‐dimensional geometry of two anomalous salt shear zones and their orientations were determined using probabilistic hypocenter imaging. The seismicity pattern, combined with borehole pressure measurements, and cavern sonar surveys, shows the spatiotemporal evolution of cavern shapes within the salt dome. We describe how shear zone seismicity contributed to a cavern well failure and gas release incident that occurred during monitoring. Our findings show that caverns placed close to shear zones are more susceptible to structural damage. We propose a non‐invasive technique for mapping hazards related to internal salt dome deformation that can be employed in high‐noise industrial settings to characterize storage facilities. Due to inadequate treatment, diabetes mellitus, which is characterized by hyperglycemia, is a global health challenge that requires creative management techniques. This study explores the therapeutic potential of Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench fruit extracts in diabetes, offering an ample approach includes phytochemical analysis, qualitative and quantitative assessments, antidiabetic efficacy, antioxidant potential, and in vivo and in vitro investigations. Thin‐layer chromatography (TLC), high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) were utilized to disclose the phytochemical profile of the fruit extracts, which indicated a diverse range of bioactive compounds. Four polyphenolic compounds including chlorogenic acid, quercetin, rutin, and morin were confirmed by HPLC fingerprinting, with rutin being the most prevalent. Qualitative analysis reveals the presence of carbohydrates, emodin, terpenoids, lignin, glycosides, and anthraquinones, while indicating the absence of amino acids, anthocyanins, phlobatannins, lactones, and leucoanthocyanins. Quantitative analysis reveals total phenolic, tannin, and flavonoid. In vitro assessments demonstrate the ability of the extracts to inhibit alpha amylase. Radical scavenging activities were evaluated through DPPH assay, underscoring their antioxidant capacity with high effect in methanol extracts. Additionally, the methanol extract decreased the blood glucose level of Type 2 diabetic mice. Notably, test samples stabilized blood glucose levels, reversed deviations in blood profile parameters, blood biochemistry, and regulated organ weight. Based on its antioxidant and antidiabetic effects, as well as positive effects on the physiology of Type 2 diabetic mice, A. esculentus emerges as an important nutraceutical vegetable. As an important nutraceutical vegetable, it holds promise for diabetes management. A. esculentus can be incorporated into dietary interventions for individuals with diabetes, harnessing its natural antioxidant and antidiabetic properties. Our findings validate the traditional use of A. esculentus in green therapeutics. Volcanic tremor is a crucial indicator for assessing the state and hazard potential of volcanic systems. At Whakaari (White Island volcano, Aotearoa New Zealand), a pulsed tremor signal emerged after a hydrothermal explosion in August 2012. The tremor accompanied the extrusion of a lava dome, before gradually disappearing prior to the onset of renewed hydrothermal activity in January 2013. We interpret this seismic signal to represent discrete gas transfers from a magmatic intrusion toward a permeable cap—possibly a hydrothermal seal—in the upper layers of Whakaari's hydrothermal system. Such tremor may thus be associated with heightened potential for hazardous explosive activity but is difficult to detect using conventional seismic monitoring parameters. To highlight the emergence of subtle periodic signals, we experiment with Lomb‐Scargle periodograms (LS). LS detect the tremor 5 days before it becomes visible in seismograms, thus facilitating the recognition of such elusive seismic patterns. We therefore suggest ongoing testing and validating this approach before adding it to current monitoring techniques. In the fields of information science and artificial intelligence, dealing with uncertainty, fuzziness, and complexity has always been a hot and difficult research topic. Especially in modern society, with the continuous development of science and technology, people are facing more and more complex problems. Interval‐valued hesitant fuzzy set (IVHFS) is an extended form of a fuzzy set. It can more flexibly express and handle uncertainty and fuzziness in decision‐making processes. However, in the practical application of the IVHFS, its information measurement is crucial, which is directly related to the application value of the IVHFS in various fields. Therefore, studying the information measurement of the IVHFS has important theoretical significance and practical value for the fields of information science and artificial intelligence. In spite of significant advances, entropy and similarity as the well‐known information measures for interval‐valued hesitant fuzzy information have not yet been thoroughly researched. In this contribution, we investigate information measures in the IVHFS, including nonprobabilistic entropy, similarity, and cross‐entropy. We first analyze the change law of hesitating uncertainty and fuzzy uncertainty in geometric space, and a nonprobabilistic entropy measurement method and its axiomatic definition for IVHFS are further developed. Then, a novel similarity measurement formula for IVHFS and its axiomatic requirements are proposed on the basis of the two nonfuzzy elements (0¯ and 1¯). Furthermore, the novel similarity measure is used to construct the cross‐entropy measure for IVHFS and its axiomatic requirements based on the association between the similarity and the cross‐entropy. Lastly, a MAGDM method is proposed by using the developed three information measures, and the efficacy of the proposed method is demonstrated by a numerical example of emergency communication support capacity evaluation. There is an increasing demand for nonalcoholic wines owing to religious beliefs, responsible driving, harmful effects of alcohol, and strict alcohol regulatory measures. Alcohol removal methods, used for nonalcoholic wine production, have negative impact on flavour characteristics and consumer acceptance. This study seeks to determine the fermentation kinetics and physicochemical properties of nonalcoholic wine developed from cashew apple juice using cold fermentation in combination with special yeast. The extracted cashew apple must was inoculated with S. ludwigii and Z. rouxii yeast culture separately and allowed to ferment at 0°C–4°C for 7 days in a completely randomized design. The pH, total soluble solids (TSS), temperature, specific gravity, titratable, volatile, and nonvolatile acidities of the fermenting must and wine were determined using standard methods. All the yeast strains maintained comparable fermentation trends with respect to pH, TSS, specific gravity, volatile acidity, titratable acidity, and fixed acid, but with different alcohol yields of 0.89 and 0.68% for S. ludwigii and Z. rouxii, respectively. The wine produced using S. ludwigii had a lower reducing sugar (3.58 mg/L) and TSS (6.65°Brix) compared to Z. rouxii (6.23 mg/L and 7.65°Brix), respectively. However, no significant differences existed in pH, titratable acidity, specific gravity, alcohol content, and colour characteristics: brightness (L∗). The matured wine products recorded 0% alcohol content and had distinct appealing colours. The application of cold fermentation combined with special yeast in nonalcoholic wine production is promising and deserves more research to explore its full potential in meeting the increasing demand for nonalcoholic wines. Seismicity at active volcanoes provides crucial constraints on the dynamics of magma systems and complex fault activation processes preceding and during an eruption. We characterize time‐dependent spectral features of volcanic earthquakes at Axial Seamount with unsupervised machine learning (ML) methods, revealing mixed frequency signals that rapidly increase in number about 15 hr before eruption onset. The events migrate along pre‐existing fissures, suggesting that they represent brittle crack opening driven by influx of magma or volatiles. These results demonstrate the power of unsupervised ML algorithms to characterize subtle changes in magmatic processes associated with eruption preparation, offering new possibilities for forecasting Axial's anticipated next eruption. This analysis is generalizable and can be employed to identify similar precursory signals at other active volcanoes. Kombucha, a potentially probiotic beverage renowned for its health benefits, was brewed using sweetened tea and a microbial consortium known as symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY). This study is aimed at optimizing SCOBY production media using economical substrates through the Taguchi method of response surface methodology (RSM). Kombucha production was optimized for SCOBY yield by utilizing tea dust as a nitrogen source instead of tea leaves and blackstrap molasses as a carbon source. The cost per liter of the optimized medium was reduced to $0.027 (optimized) from $0.075 (unoptimized). The SCOBY yield was higher in the optimized condition (2.56%) compared to the control (2.44%) by Day 10. Optimal conditions for maximal SCOBY yield (2.56%) included 75 g/L molasses, 10 g/L tea dust, 20 g/L SCOBY seeding, pH 5, and an incubation temperature of 30°C. The growth rate (μ) of SCOBY was marginally higher in the test sample (1.142 kg/day) compared to the control (1.136 kg/day). The cost difference in SCOBY production between control and test samples was 97.8%, considering current raw material prices. Food fraud and profiteering are becoming increasingly common in the meat industry. Therefore, it is essential to identify such practices to prevent consumer deception and maintain food safety. This study aimed to determine the contents of minced meat samples labeled as beef and mutton in retail stores across Tehran province, Iran, to identify instances of meat adulteration. To this end, this study randomly collected 300 minced meat samples labeled as beef and mutton from Tehran stores over 4 years (2018–2022) and analyzed them using duplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The results revealed that more than 95% of the samples only contained beef, while only 5% of the samples matched the label and contained a mixture of beef and mutton. This discrepancy between the label and actual contents could be attributed to the price difference between beef and mutton, providing a financial incentive for producers to maximize profits. Given the potential for meat adulteration, increased monitoring of meat products is necessary, including detailed tests such as PCR, which is a fast, easy, sensitive, specific, and highly effective method for detecting meat adulteration. Hypercholesteremia is the main contributor to metabolic diseases, including obesity, hypertension, and diabetes, which are the primary global sources of morbidity and death rates. Garlic scapes, a member of the Allium sativum family and a rich source of antioxidants, are utilized in various cuisine preparations due to their unique flavors and tastes. The current study examined garlic scape powder's effect on apoprotein E and its ability to decrease cholesterol. In an in vivo experiment, normal, healthy Wistar albino rats (weeks) were divided into a negative control group (NC, n = 10) and a high‐fat diet‐raised group (n = 50) until they achieved cholesterol ≥250 mg/dL. Hypercholesteremic rats were further divided randomly into five groups: positive control (PC), standard group (fenofibrate 20 mg/kg bwt), and treatment groups G1, G2, and G3 that were administered with garlic scape powder 400 mg, 800 mg, and 1200 mg/kg bwt orally, respectively, for 3 months. The blood samples were examined for cholesterol, triglycerides, high‐density lipoproteins (HDLs), low‐density lipoproteins, apoprotein E, albumin levels, alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and aspartate aminotransferase (AST). The liver tissues of the rats were subjected to histopathology. The lipid profile was assessed using serum kit techniques, whereas an ELISA kit was used to evaluate apoprotein E, and a serum kit was used to estimate ALT and AST. In comparison to all other groups except NC, the highest dose of 1200 mg/kg bwt of garlic scapes significantly (p ≤.05) increased serum insulin (13.66 ± 0.72 μU/mL), apoprotein E levels (6.08 ± 0.10 mg/dL), HDL (42.1 ± 1.81 mg/dL), and reduce TG (88.7 ± 1.64 mg/dL) and decreased overall cholesterol levels (67.9 ± 1.17 mg/dL). Except for NC, all treatment groups had significantly (p ≤.05) lower ALT and AST values than PC. To sum up, powdered garlic scapes may be a great way to avoid hyperlipidemia, which raises the risk of cardiovascular illnesses. ALT and AST levels were significantly (p ≤.05) reduced in all treatment groups compared to PC, except for NC. In conclusion, garlic scape powder may be an excellent source to prevent hyperlipidemia, a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. In addition, powdered garlic scapes supplementation at high doses may be used as an alternative natural source in functional foods to halt hyperlipidemia without liver toxicity in the long term. Based on available evidence, psyllium has been found to play a role in preventing and improving hypertension. In light of this, the objective of this investigation is to perform a systematic review and meta‐analysis to assess the effect of psyllium intake on blood pressure. In order to identify suitable publications, we conduct searches using Scopus, ISI Web of Science (WOS), and PubMed, and from 15 March 2022 to 15 July 2022. This study aims to evaluate the impact of psyllium consumption on blood pressure in adults through randomized controlled trials (RCTs). We used the fixed‐effects model which are expressed as weighted mean differences (WMD) with 95% confidence intervals (CI). In this article, 14 RCT studies and 802 participants were included. Psyllium consumption significantly decreases systolic blood pressure (SBP): (weighted mean difference [WMD]: −2.24; 95% CI: −3.13, −1.35; p <.05), and non‐significantly increases diastolic blood pressure (DBP): (WMD: 0.04; 95% CI: −0.52, 0.61; p >.05). Psyllium dosage and duration of consumption had a remarkable linear effect on SBP and DBP. Artificial intelligence (AI) seismology has witnessed enormous success in a variety of fields, especially in earthquake detection and P and S‐wave arrival picking. It has become widely accepted that DL techniques greatly help routine seismic monitoring by enabling more accurate picking than traditional pickers like STA/LTA. However, a completely automatic AI‐driven earthquake monitoring framework has not been reported due to the concerns of potential false positives using DL pickers. Here, we propose a novel AI‐facilitated near real‐time monitoring framework using a recently developed deep learning (DL) picker (EQCCT) that has been deployed in the Texas seismological network (TexNet). For the West Texas area, TexNet's seismic monitoring relies on the EQCCT picker to report earthquake events. For earthquakes with a magnitude above two, the picks are further validated by analysts to output the final TexNet catalog. Due to the fast‐increasing seismicity caused by continuing oil&gas production in West Texas, this AI‐facilitated framework significantly relieves the workload of TexNet analysts. We show the mean absolute error (MAE) of automatic magnitude estimation for the magnitude‐above‐two earthquakes is smaller than 0.15 in West Texas and MAEs of hypocenter locations within 2.6 km in both distance and depth estimates. This research provides more evidence that DL pickers can play a fundamental role in daily earthquake monitoring. The north‐south seismic belt of China poses a high risk of earthquakes, necessitating the need for accurate and rapid prediction of intensity measures (IMs) to prevent and mitigate potential damage. We have developed a new multi‐task model, CRAQuake, to predict IMs for the north‐south seismic belt of China. Using initial arrival seismic waves recorded at a single station as input, CRAQuake simultaneously predicts six IMs without relying on pre‐configured parameters such as earthquake source, path, and location. The model was trained on 4,281 sets of strong motion records data sets at 822 stations and tested to show highly correlated results with the target IMs. The prediction performance continues to improve as the input initial arrival seismic wave time window increases. CRAQuake promises to enhance the accuracy and timeliness of IMs prediction in the north‐south seismic belt of China. Highly sensitive laser strainmeters at Moxa Geodynamic Observatory (MGO) measure motions of the upper Earth's crust. Since the mountain overburden of the laser strainmeters installed in the gallery of the observatory is relatively low, the recorded time series are strongly influenced by local meteorological phenomena. To estimate the nonlinear effect of the meteorological variables on strain measurements in a non‐stationary environment, advanced methods capable of learning the nonlinearity and discovering causal relationships in the non‐stationary multivariate tectonic‐climate time series are needed. Methods for causal inference generally perform well in identifying linear causal relationships but often struggle to retrieve complex nonlinear causal structures prevalent in real‐world systems. This work presents a novel model invariance‐based causal discovery (CDMI) method that utilizes deep networks to model nonlinearity in a multivariate time series system. We propose to use the theoretically well‐established Knockoffs framework to generate in‐distribution, uncorrelated copies of the original data as interventional variables and test the model invariance for causal discovery. To deal with the non‐stationary behavior of the tectonic‐climate time series recorded at the MGO, we propose a regime identification approach that we apply before causal analysis to generate segments of time series that possess locally consistent statistical properties. First, we evaluate our method on synthetically generated time series by comparing it to other causal analysis methods. We then investigate the hypothesized effect of meteorological variables on strain measurements. Our approach outperforms other causality methods and provides meaningful insights into tectonic‐climate causal interactions. Understanding radon‐prone areas is vital to prevent radon‐related health problems, enhance public safety, and ensure adherence to regulations aimed at minimizing radon exposure. We conducted a comprehensive review of cross‐sectional studies reporting on residential radon exposure in Iran. Our review encompassed studies published until February 13, 2022. Out of the 966 articles initially identified, 37 studies were included in our analysis, which measured indoor radon levels in a total of 3480 residential buildings in Iran. Notably, the highest residential radon levels (Bq.m−3) were found in Mazandaran province, with the most hazardous recorded levels in Talesh Mahalleh (3235), followed by Ramsar (1299). Conversely, Tehran, the capital city of Iran, had the lowest recorded levels of residential radon, at 11.0 Bq.m−3. Remarkably, indoor radon concentration exceeded both the reference levels recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the standard levels set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US.EPA), with approximately 51% and 26%, respectively. The mean effective doses received by Iranian residents were 5.0 mSv.y−1 (0.3–81.7). Moreover, the mean excess lifetime cancer risk (ELCR) associated with indoor radon exposure was determined to be two per 1000 people. The annual incidence of lung cancer cases (LCCs) per million people attributed to indoor radon exposure in Iranian residential buildings ranged from 5.00E − 06 to 1.47E − 03. The included studies addressed a wide range of variables affecting radon levels, but they did not cover all factors comprehensively. These factors encompass the meteorological parameters, geological characteristics, building construction materials, building type, window type, occupancy information, and ventilation rates in enclosed spaces. The potential health risks associated with indoor radon exposure necessitate the implementation of effective control measures. These should include raising public awareness, revising construction regulations, enhancing ventilation systems, identifying high‐risk areas, and conducting more comprehensive studies to better understand the factors that influence radon concentration. Background. Uncontrolled hypertension is a major public health challenge in low‐ and middle‐income countries. The Hypertension Control Program in Argentina (HCPIA) showed that a community health worker‐led multicomponent intervention was effective for blood pressure (BP) reduction in resource‐limited settings, but whether the intervention was equally effective across participant subgroups is unknown. Objective. To identify participants who benefit the most from the HCPIA BP control intervention. Methods. This secondary analysis used data from HCPIA, a successful 18‐month cluster‐randomized trial in 18 health centers with 1,432 low‐income hypertensive patients in Argentina. Fifteen baseline characteristics were used to define subgroups. The proportion of controlled BP (<140/90 mmHg) was estimated using generalized linear mixed models with arm‐by‐subgroup interaction terms. The distribution of trial BP response among intervention patient subgroups was assessed. Results. Participants were 53.0% female, a mean age of 56 years, and 17.4% controlled BP at baseline. After the intervention, 72.9% of intervention and 52.2% of control participants had controlled BP. The intervention was more effective in physically inactive patients (OR = 2.76, 95% CI: 1.82 and 4.21; p for interaction = 0.04), moderately active patients (OR = 3.08, 95% CI: 1.90 and 4.99; p for interaction = 0.03), and those with uncontrolled BP at baseline (OR = 2.77, 95% CI: 2.15 and 3.57; p for interaction = 0.05). Among intervention participants, 20.2% had no BP response (BP change < −4 mmHg), 41.3% had a moderate BP response (BP change: −4 mmHg to −24 mmHg), and 38.5% had a high BP response (BP change > −24 mmHg). Women (p = 0.01), those who were physically inactive (p = 0.03), and those not taking antihypertensive medications at baseline (p = 0.001) had the greatest BP response. Conclusion. The effect of the intervention was consistent across many subgroups with some key groups showing a particularly strong intervention effect. Background: Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are indoor and outdoor air pollution, but the VOCs that were shared across chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs) remained unknown. Meanwhile, the mediating roles of system inflammation need to be further explored. Methods: This study included 9114 adults based on the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2005–2006 and 2011–2018. Internal exposure levels of 14 urinary metabolites of VOC (mVOCs), blood cell count–derived inflammatory biomarkers, and prevalent CRDs, including asthma, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema, were assessed and collected. Associations of single‐ and multiple‐mVOCs with CRDs were assessed by using logistic regression and quantile‐based g‐computation (QGcomp) methods to select the key and shared mVOCs among CRDs. Mediation effects of system inflammation on mVOC‐CRD associations were further evaluated by causal mediation analysis. Results: Increased levels of total 14 mVOCs were associated with increased risk of chronic bronchitis (OR = 1.62, 95% CI: 1.37–1.91), emphysema (OR = 1.73, 95% CI: 1.27–2.35), and both conditions combined (defined as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, COPD) (OR = 1.61, 95% CI: 1.37–1.88), but not for asthma (OR = 1.07, 95% CI: 0.94–1.21). In both single‐ and multiple‐mVOC exposure models, 8 key mVOCs were COPD associated, including 6 mVOCs (34MHA, AMCC, CEMA, DHBMA, 3HPMA, and MHBMA3) and 5 mVOCs (34MHA, CYMA, 3HPMA, MA, and MHBMA3) that were associated with increased risk of chronic bronchitis and emphysema, respectively. Particularly, 34MHA, 3HPMA, and MHBMA3 were shared risk factors across chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and COPD. Neutrophils mediated the associations of three shared mVOCs with chronic bronchitis (by 5.20%, 7.80%, 6.30%), emphysema (by 6.90%, 9.30%, 9.70%), and COPD (by 5.80%, 8.90%, 7.70%). Conclusions: These findings provide valuable insights into the shared risk mVOCs and mediating roles of neutrophils involved in the pathogenesis of CRDs, which can be useful in developing more effective prevention and intervention strategies for CRDs.
