Current intramuscular vaccines cannot effectively prevent severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) transmission and infection in nasal epithelium. Although face masks represent an additional preventive measure against SARS‐CoV‐2, their low breathability hinders wearing compliance. Herein, the development of SuperNeut, a protein‐based breathable high‐efficiency face mask, is reported. The mask contains KP‐LCB1, a fusion protein that can capture SARS‐CoV‐2 spike proteins on one end and attach to keratin fibres on the other. The meltblown fabric is replaced by a thin electrospun keratin layer that allows uniform adhesion of KP‐LCB1, which serves as an effective barrier to filter incoming viruses, while substantially improving breathability. The studies demonstrate that the fusion protein is stable and can efficiently neutralise multiple SARS‐CoV‐2 wildtype (WT), Alpha (B.1.1.7), Delta (B.1.617.2), and Omicron (B.1.1.529). The breathability of SuperNeut mask compared to commercial surgical masks is also quantified. Importantly, it is shown that SuperNeut Mask is able to effectively prevent SARS‐CoV‐2 Delta transmission in Syrian hamster model. Overall, the highly breathable SuperNeut mask can efficiently prevent SARS‐CoV‐2 transmission. This design serves as a proof‐of‐concept that face mask designs can be improved with biological components. Compact, mineralized cortical bone tissues are often concealed on magnetic resonance (MR) images. Recent development of MR instruments and pulse techniques has yielded significant advances in acquiring anatomical and physiological information from cortical bone despite its poor 1H signals. This work demonstrates the first MR research on cortical bones under an ultrahigh magnetic field of 14 T. The 1H signals of different mammalian species exhibit multi‐exponential decays of three characteristic T2 or T2* values: 0.1–0.5 ms, 1–4 ms, and 4–8 ms. Systematic sample comparisons attribute these T2/T2* value ranges to collagen‐bound water, pore water, and lipids, respectively. Ultrashort echo time (UTE) imaging under 14 T yielded spatial resolutions of 20–80 microns, which resolves the 3D anatomy of the Haversian canals. The T2* relaxation characteristics further allow spatial classifications of collagen, pore water and lipids in human specimens. The study achieves a record of the spatial resolution for MR imaging in bone and shows that ultrahigh‐field MR has the unique ability to differentiate the soft and organic compartments in bone tissues. We present time‐resolved Gd−Gd electron paramagnetic resonance (TiGGER) at 240 GHz for tracking inter‐residue distances during a protein's mechanical cycle in the solution state. TiGGER makes use of Gd‐sTPATCN spin labels, whose favorable qualities include a spin‐7/2 EPR‐active center, short linker, narrow intrinsic linewidth, and virtually no anisotropy at high fields (8.6 T) when compared to nitroxide spin labels. Using TiGGER, we determined that upon light activation, the C‐terminus and N‐terminus of AsLOV2 separate in less than 1 s and relax back to equilibrium with a time constant of approximately 60 s. TiGGER revealed that the light‐activated long‐range mechanical motion is slowed in the Q513A variant of AsLOV2 and is correlated to the similarly slowed relaxation of the optically excited chromophore as described in recent literature. Although judges may be well intended when taking an oath to be impartial when they reach the bench, psychological and legal literature suggests that their legal approaches, behaviour, and decision‐making processes are subconsciously impacted by biases stemming from and influenced by their attitudes, ideology, backgrounds, and previous experiences. Drawing from prior models of sources of bias in legal contexts and existing literature on judges, this paper discusses and models potential sources of pro‐prosecution bias in judges with prosecutorial backgrounds. These include (1) professional and self‐selection into the judiciary; (2) prosecutorial socialization and attitudes that can shape a prosecutorial mindset; and (3) the effects of common unconscious biases, confirmation bias and role induced bias, that may shape judicial behaviour through formed beliefs and approaches stemming from the prosecutorial mindset and selection into the judiciary. As the vast majority of judges are former prosecutors in the U.S. as well as in many other countries, this paper considers possible ways to deal with pro‐prosecution bias and the potential importance of diversifying judges' professional backgrounds. A bibliographic review of research works dealing with gels based on synthetic polymers and their application in water control under harsh conditions was compiled. The extreme conditions were defined to be above 100 °C with 100 000 ppm of total dissolved solids, including divalent ions. Works describing laboratory experiments and oilfield implementations were also considered. According to current literature, some gels based on synthetic polymers have displayed desirable properties for water control, but in many cases, research is still at laboratory level. Therefore, further studies are required to understand the mode of action and stability of gels and polymers submitted to hard conditions in order to produce high‐performance prototypes. Organic compounds showing circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) are at the forefront of novel applications and technologies. Here we show the synthesis and chiroptical properties of pyrene and perylene derivatives of inexpensive chiral scaffolds: isomannide and isosorbide. Low‐intensity ECD spectra were obtained, suggesting the absence of chromophore interaction in the ground state, except in the case of isomannide bis‐perylenecarboxylate, whose ECD spectrum showed a positive exciton couplet. All isomannide derivatives, with the only exception of the one containing a pyrenecarboxylate and a perylenecarboxylate, exhibited excimer CPL spectra, whereas isosorbide derivatives did not show any CPL. Isomannide derivatives bearing two pyrenecarboxylate or two pyrenylacetate groups showed positive CPL emission with dissymmetry factors up to 10−2, which depends on the conformational freedom of the appended units. The CPL sign, Stokes shift and order of magnitude of dissymmetry factor were reproduced by excited‐state calculations on a representative compound. Interestingly, the mixed derivative containing pyrenic units with different spacing from the isomannide scaffold showed an oppositely signed excimer band with respect to the homo‐substituted derivatives. Chiral ionic liquids (CILs), or ionic liquids (ILs) with chiral additives, are very attractive chiral media for enantioselective electroanalysis, on account of their high chiral structural order at the electrochemical interphase. A family of molecular salts with CIL properties is now introduced, based on the chiral steroid building block of deoxycholic acid implemented either in the anion or cation. Testing them as chiral additives in a commercial achiral IL, they enable voltammetric discrimination of the enantiomers of a model chiral probe on disposable screen-printed electrodes in terms of peak potential differences, which is the most desirable transduction mode of the enantiorecognition event. The probe enantiomer sequence is the same for all selectors, consistent with their sharing the same chiral building block configuration. This proof-of-concept widens the application fields of bile acid derivatives as chiral selectors, while also enriching the still very few CIL families so far explored for applications in chiral electroanalysis. Debt presents a dilemma to societies: successful societies benefit from a substantial infrastructure of consumer, commercial, corporate, and sovereign debt but debt can cause substantial private and social harm. Pre‐crisis and post‐crisis solutions have seesawed between subsidizing and restricting debt, between leveraging and deleveraging. A consensus exists among governments and international financial institutions that financial stability is the fundamental normative principle underlying financial regulation. Financial stability, however, is insensitive to equality concerns and can produce morally impermissible aggregations in which the least advantaged in a society are made worse off. Solutions based only on financial stability can restrict debt without accounting for the risk of harm to persons least able to bear the risk, worsen preexisting inequalities, destroy or impair the net worth of households, and impose unfavorable distributive consequences. This article offers a new approach to assist policymakers in developing and evaluating regulation to take criteria in addition to financial stability into account, but which do not undermine the aim of financial stability. It calls for a luck egalitarian approach, offering policymakers options to take the debtor's choices into account while still accounting for cognitive mistakes people often make in debt decisionmaking. It offers a general framework for the underlying principles for the regulation of debt: its focus is not on any particular forms of debt or its regulation but in structuring debt regulation more generally. Phosphinooxazoline (PHOX) ligands are an important class of ligands in asymmetric catalysis. Recently we reported on the synthesis of d‐fructose based spiro‐fused PHOX ligands. Here, we now present the application of these ligands in asymmetric alkylation. In addition, we prepared palladium complexes of our previous spiro‐PHOX ligands and characterized them by X‐ray crystallography. With the knowledge of the molecular structure of these spiro‐PHOX palladium complexes we prepared two "improved" d‐fructose based spiro‐fused PHOX ligands the application of which in asymmetric alkylation resulted in high enantioselectivities (er up to 93:7) in a broad substrate range. A highly enantioselective conjugate addition of arylboronic acids to 3‐arylpropenoates is presented. The rhodium complexes obtained from deoxycholic acid derived binaphthyl phosphites showed good activity as well as very high enantioselectivity (ee up to 99 %) in the conjugate addition to different ethyl‐3‐arylpropenoates, allowing to obtain useful chiral building blocks for the synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients. The method was applied to the enantioselective synthesis of the antimuscarinic drug (R)‐tolterodine. Deoxycholic acid derived binaphthyl phosphites promote a highly enantioselective Rh‐catalyzed conjugate addition of arylboronic acids to 3‐arylpropenoates, giving useful chiral building blocks for the synthesis of biologically active compounds. The authors report the development of AlxCoCrFeNi (x = 0.1 to 3) high entropy alloy (HEA) coatings using a simple and straightforward microwave technique. The microstructure of the developed coatings is composed of a cellular structure and diffused interface with the substrate. The microstructure of the HEA coatings varies as a direct function of Al content. An increase in Al fraction shows structural transformation from FCC to BCC along with the evolution of σ and B2 as the major secondary phases. The diffusion of Mo from the substrate enhances the mixing entropy and promotes σ‐phase formation. The HEA coatings show significantly high hardness compared to SS316L substrate steel (227 HV) with a maximum value of 726 HV observed for three‐molar composition. The fracture toughness exhibits an inverse correlation with the Al fraction with the highest value of around 49 MPa m1/2 observed for Al0.1CoCrFeNi coating. The equimolar coating composition shows lowest erosion rates among all the tested samples due to optimum combination of the mechanical properties. The erosion resistance of the equimolar coating is 2 to 5 times higher than steel substrate and around 1.5 times higher than the non‐equimolar counterparts depending upon the impingement angles. Families with student loans in 2007 have higher levels of financial distress than families without such loans, and these families also transitioned to financial distress at higher rates during the early stages of the Great Recession. This correlation persists once we control for a host of other demographic, work-status, and household balance sheet measures. Families with an average level of student loans were 3.1 percentage points more likely to be 60 days late paying bills and 3 percentage points more likely to be denied credit. The economic theory of regulatory capture predicts that industry groups will attempt to influence their regulators (for example, by lobbying for rules that exclude competition). It has been suggested that the same logic applies to any powerful institution with the ability to affect industry profits. When the aim of industry is to alter the public’s perception of its product (for example, by disseminating favorable messages to the news media or via an advertising campaign, or by funding industry-friendly scientific research), the end result has been dubbed deep capture. We develop a formal model of deep capture, in which consumers have imperfect information about product quality, and a dominant producer is able to increase his profits by altering the parameters of the consumer’s search problem. Free radical-induced lipid oxidation under oxidative stress has been implicated in a number of human diseases. Isoprostanes (IsoPs), isomers of prostaglandins, are one of the major classes of oxidation products derived from this oxidation process. Measurement of the levels of IsoPs by Mass Spectrometry-based methods has become the "gold standard" biomarker of oxidative stress in vivo. Significant advances have been made in understanding this important pathway of lipid peroxidation since the discovery of IsoP formation in vivo 18 years ago. Studies from our laboratory and others are discussed that have provided insights into the mechanism of formation. Furthermore, new independent studies have demonstrated that IsoPs are the most reliable available marker of lipid peroxidation in vivo, and recent work examining IsoP formation has provided valuable information about the pathogenesis of numerous human diseases. Thus, the complexity of the IsoP pathway has expanded, providing novel insights into mechanisms of lipid peroxidation in vivo and allowing investigators to explore the role of oxidative stress in human disease.
