β‐cyclodextrin/Graphene oxide@ quinoline Schiff base (β‐CD/GO@QS), a material of resistant to microbial corrosion, was successfully prepared. Surface morphology, structure and thermal stability were performed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) and Fourier‐transform infrared spectra (FT‐IR). The mechanical properties and microbial corrosion resistance of 0.5 wt% β‐CD/GO@QS smart coating in simulated seawater were investigated by electrochemical analysis. The results indicated that GO could improve the integrity of coating and had the great dispersion which decreased the effective anodic area to Q235 steel dissolution. Additionally, the smart coating of β‐CD/GO@QS effectively formed protective film on the exposed Q235 steel surface in the scratch area which could prevent the occurrence of electrochemical reactions, resulting in the cathode reaction hardly happened. Through the SEM and EDS image, the 0.5 wt% β‐CD/GO@QS coating of the scratched area was not seriously corroded after 14 d in simulated seawater. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Two undocumented cobalt (II) complexes [Co(5‐Br‐2,3‐pydc)(H2O)3 ⋅ H2O]n (namely Co‐MOF 1) and [Co(6‐Me‐2,3‐pydc)(H2O)3]n (namely Co‐MOF 2), were successfully synthesized by solvothermal method. The X‐ray single crystal diffraction, infrared spectrometer (IR), UV‐Vis spectrum and X‐ray diffraction were used to characterize and analyze the structure of the two MOFs. The single crystal structure analysis showed that Co‐MOF 1 reconnected by Co−N bond and Co−O bond to form a one‐dimensional chains. The Co‐MOF 2 was connected by Co−O and Co−N bonds to form a one‐dimensional chain.The results indicated that complexes Co‐MOF 1 and Co‐MOF 2 have a certain thermal stability and fluorescence properties. The synthesis and characterization of a series of 1, n′-disubstituted ferrocenoyl cysteine and histidine conjugates is reported. Their interaction with a range of metal ions was studied. The results show that metal coordination in His-containing peptides involved the imidazole group. Metal coordination affects the structural properties of the ferrocene (Fc) conjugates, as judged by CD spectroscopy, and also the redox properties of the Fc group. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The cerium (III) glutathione complex was synthesized by the redox reaction of cerium (IV) with glutathione reduced (GSH) in aqueous solution. The Job-plots indicate an ML (L = GSSG) stoichiometry of the complex. The fluorescent properties of the compound were investigated. The as-prepared complex showed the characteristic maximum emission spectra of Ce(III) at 350 nm ( λex = 255 nm). The fluorescence results show that the Ce(IV) ions are first reduced to Ce(III), and then form Ce(III) complex after reacting with GSH. The complex was characterized by element analysis and FT-IR spectra; the stability of the complex was analyzed by cyclic voltammeters and DSC-TG as well. Finally, Ce(IV) was successfully employed to determine the concentrations of GSH in the presence of GSSG, in which the fluorescence intensities are proportional to the concentrations of GSH in the range of 1-100 nM with the detection limit of 0.05 nM of GSH, without interference from the presence of GSSG.
