Abstract Botrytis cinerea and Alternaria alternata are major pre‐ and postharvest plant pathogens of kiwifruit and responsible for significant economic losses. Although synthetic fungicides are the main source of controlling these pathogens, their use can lead to pathogen resistance, pollution of the environment, and their residues on agricultural produce can represent a health risk to humans. Bacillus velezensis is an ecofriendly bacterium with biocontrol potential. The objectives of the present study were to determine the efficacy of B. velezensis against B. cinerea and A. alternata, both of which are pre‐ and postharvest pathogens of kiwifruit, and investigate the mechanisms responsible for its biocontrol activity using transcriptomic and metabolomic methodology. Dual cultures of B. velezensis and either B. cinerea or A. alternata versus single cultures were used to conduct a transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses to provide insight into the mechanism by which B. velezensis inhibits B. cinerea and A. alternata. A total of 2499 and 3248 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified in the B. velezensis/B. cinerea and B. velezensis/A. alternata comparisons, respectively. Genes related to sporulation, virulence, and hydrolase activity were downregulated in B. cinerea and A. alternata. Genes associated with MAPK signaling and the TCA cycle were also downregulated. Our study provides new insights into mechanism underlying the inhibition of B. cinerea and A. alternata by B. velezensis. Our results also demonstrate the potential of B. velezensis as a biocontrol agent against these two major pathogens of kiwifruit.

Abstract The interferometric inverse synthetic aperture radar (InISAR) system realises the interferometric processing on the imaging results obtained from three radars on a set of orthogonal baselines and can get the three‐dimensional (3D) imaging for the ship target. The ship targets experience complex motion characteristics such as roll, pitch and yaw in the course of navigation. These motions lead to the blurred two‐dimensional (2D) images and further affect the interference performance during the InISAR procedure. Therefore, this paper proposes a 3D InISAR imaging algorithm for the ship targets based on the cubic phase signal (CPS) model. This method approximates the azimuth echo signal as a CPS and utilises the particle swarm optimization algorithm to estimate the higher‐order phase coefficients. While preserving the phase information, the 3D image result can be achieved by the interference processing between the high‐resolution 2D images. The effectiveness of the algorithm is validated through the simulation experiments under different baseline lengths and signal‐to‐noise ratios.

Abstract The present study introduces a nature inspired improved liver cancer algorithm (ILCA) for solving the non‐convex engineering optimization issues. The traditional LCA (t‐LCA) inspires from the conduct of liver tumours and integrates biological ethics during the optimization procedure. However, t‐LCA facing stagnation issues and may trap into local optima. To avoid such issues and provide the optimal solution, there are some modifications are implemented into the internal structure of t‐LCA based on Weibull flight operator, mutation‐based approach, quasi‐opposite‐based learning and gorilla troops exploitation‐based mechanisms to enhance the overall strength of the algorithm to obtain the global solution. For validation of ILCA, the non‐parametric and the statistical analysis are performed using benchmark standard functions. Moreover, ILCA is applied to resolve the stochastic renewable‐based (wind turbines + PVs) optimal power flow problem using a modified RER‐based IEEE 57‐bus. The objective of this work is to obtain the minimum predicted power losses and enhance the predicted voltage stability. By incorporation of renewable resources into the modified IEEE57‐bus network can help the system to reduce the power losses from 5.6622 to 3.8142 MW, while the voltage stability is enhanced from 0.1700 to 0.1164 p.u.

Abstract The spaceborne Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (ISAR) has garnered significant attention due to its extensive observation range and robust anti‐attack capabilities. Consequently, the ISAR imaging research of air targets based on a spaceborne platform has crucial application value. However, unlike the traditional ground‐based radar system, the spaceborne platform moves along its own orbit while observing the air target, and the received signal energy is weakened due to the extended observation distance. Therefore, it is important to optimise the existing ISAR imaging geometry models and motion compensation algorithms. The authors first construct a geometric model of spaceborne ISAR imaging for air targets. Aiming at the problem of low signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR), a novel translational motion compensation algorithm based on motion parameter estimation is proposed. The algorithm compensates for both distance migration and Doppler migration caused by the first‐order and second‐order motion components of relative motion, respectively. Finally, simulation and semi‐physical simulation results validate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed algorithm under different SNR and motion conditions.

Abstract Suitable and effective matching area selection is crucial for gravity matching‐aided navigation. In this paper, an all‐field extended extremum algorithm based on an adaptive threshold (AT‐AEE) is proposed for matching area selection in the Arctic Sea. The gradient data is obtained by using the convolution of gravity reference graph data and all‐field extended extremum parameters. Then, the adaptive threshold method was employed to determine the optimal gradient threshold based on gravity anomaly data across various test areas. Data points with gradients exceeding the specified threshold are identified as local candidate points for matching areas. The test areas containing a certain proportion of local candidate points are designated as the suitable matching areas. Nine test areas in the Arctic Sea with different gravity change characteristics were chosen for simulation experiments to verify the performance of the proposed algorithm. Simulation experiments showed that superior navigation positioning results could be obtained in the matching areas selected by the AT‐AEE algorithm. Compared to traditional algorithm, the matching areas derived from the AT‐AEE algorithm performed with a better consistency in the gravity matching navigation results. In suitable matching areas with the proportion of local candidate points reaching 70%, the average positioning errors could be reduced to less than 1.5 n miles.

Abstract Forward‐looking radar imaging is a top priority due to a variety of applications. An airborne forward‐looking radar imaging approach via a modified propagator method (MPM) based on the planar phased array is proposed. It can obtain a better focusing effect without range migration correction. Through the MPM algorithm, the azimuth resolution can be enhanced greatly. Compared with the conventional synthetic aperture radar imaging algorithm, the left‐right ambiguity process can be avoided by generating two‐dimensional spatial spectra. Furthermore, the imaging results of different numbers of elements are given to provide an assessment of the imaging performance. Additionally, the authors proposed to apply the scanning planar phased array configuration to airborne forward‐looking two‐dimensional imaging for the first time. The validity of the method is proven by experiments. The image is more focused. Furthermore, the results of the experiments verify that the proposed method is fit for high‐speed situation and aircraft height variation condition.

Abstract The ever‐increasing ranges of starch applications have been restricted by some of its inherent adverse characteristics like retrogradability, gel opacity, low resistibility to variations of pH, and elevated shear/temperatures. Starch modification through various physical, chemical, and enzymatic methods has been proposed as the most mature platform to tackle such drawbacks. Along with their outstanding potential in enhancing the starch's technofunctional characteristics, physicochemical modifications could remarkably customize starch nutritional/digestibility attributes. For instance, physical modifications could remarkably change starch digestibility by manipulating the granular architecture while chemical approaches change it by altering the chemical structure of starch molecules, making them unrecognizable to digestive enzymes. Such alterations could even be more challenging upon applying a combination of starch modifications. The changes in starch digestibility through its modification via single, double, and multiple modifications have been overviewed in this review.

Abstract Flexible electrode design with robust structure and good performance is one of the priorities for flexible batteries to power emerging wearable electronics, and organic cathode materials have become contenders for flexible self‐supporting electrodes. However, issues such as easy electrolyte solubility and low intrinsic conductivity contribute to high polarization and rapid capacity decay. Herein, we have designed a flexible self‐supporting cathode based on perylene‐3,4,9,10‐tetracarboxylic dianhydride (PTCDA), interfacial engineering enhanced by polypyrrole (PPy), and carbon nanotubes (CNTs), forming the interconnected and flexible PTCDA/PPy/CNTs using polymerization reaction and vacuum filtration methods, effectively curbing those challenges. When used as the cathode of sodium‐ion batteries, PTCDA/PPy/CNTs exhibit excellent rate capability (105.7 mAh g−1 at 20 C), outstanding cycling stability (79.4% capacity retention at 5 C after 500 cycles), and remarkable wide temperature application capability (86.5 mAh g−1 at −30°C and 115.4 mAh g−1 at 60°C). The sodium storage mechanism was verified to be a reversible oxidation reaction between two Na+ ions and carbonyl groups by density functional theory calculations, in situ infrared Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and in situ Raman spectroscopy. Surprisingly, the pouch cells based on PTCDA/PPy/CNTs exhibit good mechanical flexibility in various mechanical states. This work inspires more rational designs of flexible and self‐supporting organic cathodes, promoting the development of high‐performance and wide‐temperature adaptable wearable electronic devices.

Abstract This review highlights the development of plant proteins from a wide variety of sources, as most of the research and development efforts to date have been limited to a few sources including soy, chickpea, wheat, and pea. The native structure of plant proteins during production and their impact on food colloids including emulsions, foams, and gels are considered in relation to their fundamental properties, while highlighting the recent developments in the production and processing technologies with regard to their impacts on the molecular properties and aggregation of the proteins. The ability to quantify structural, morphological, and rheological properties can provide a better understanding of the roles of plant proteins in food systems. The applications of plant proteins as dairy and meat alternatives are discussed from the perspective of food structure formation. Future directions on the processing of plant proteins and potential applications are outlined to encourage the generation of more diverse plant‐based products.

Abstract Aims Surveys and research on the applications of the hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) are important for understanding the current status and future development of this technology in China. This article aimed to investigate the status of hepatic venous pressure gradient measurement in China in 2022. Methods We investigated the overall status of HVPG technology in China—including hospital distribution, hospital level, annual number of cases, catheters used, average cost, indications, and current challenges by using online questionnaire. By counting the number and percentages of cases of these results, we hope to clarify the current status of HVPG measurements in China. Results According to the survey, 85 hospitals in China used HVPG technology in 2022 distributed across 29 provinces. A total of 4989 HVPG measurements were performed in all of the surveyed hospitals in 2022, of which 2813 cases (56.4%) were measured alone. The average cost of HVPG measurement was 5646.8 ± 2327.9 CNY. Of the clinical teams who performed the measurements (sometimes multiple per hospital), 94.3% (82/87) used the balloon method, and the majority of the teams (72.4%, 63/87) used embolectomy catheters. Conclusions This survey clarified the clinical application status of HVPG in China and confirmed that some medical institutions in China have established a foundation for this technology. It is still necessary to continue promoting and popularizing this technology in the future.

Abstract Hybrid excitons, characterized by their strong oscillation strength and long lifetimes, hold great potential as information carriers in semiconductors. They offer promising applications in exciton‐based devices and circuits. MoSe2/WS2 heterostructures represent an ideal platform for studying hybrid excitons, but how to regulate the exciton lifetime has not yet been explored. In this study, layer hybridization is modulated by applying electric fields parallel or antiparallel to the dipole moment, enabling us to regulate the exciton lifetime from 1.36 to 4.60 ns. Furthermore, the time‐resolved photoluminescence decay traces are measured at different excitation power. A hybrid exciton annihilation rate of 8.9 × 10−4 cm2 s−1 is obtained by fitting. This work reveals the effects of electric fields and excitation power on the lifetime of hybrid excitons in MoSe2/WS2 1.5° moiré heterostructures, which play important roles in high photoluminescence quantum yield optoelectronic devices based on transition‐metal dichalcogenides heterostructures.

Abstract Current global climate models (GCMs), limited to grid‐scale land‐atmosphere coupling, cannot represent subgrid urban‐rural precipitation contrasts. This study develops an innovative two‐way subgrid land‐atmosphere coupling framework in the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Community Earth System Model version 2 (CESM2) to explicitly resolve land‐atmosphere interaction over subgrid individual land units. Results show that urban heat island (UHI) leads to the urban rainfall effect (URE), which in turn alleviates overestimated UHI over China in CESM2. The URE manifests as a shift toward more heavy precipitation and less light precipitation in world urban areas than in surrounding rural counterparts. This feature is consistent with available observations. In heavy precipitation situations, the UHI promotes atmospheric instability and enhances atmospheric water vapor holding capacity, resulting in more heavy precipitation in urban areas. Conversely, in light precipitation situations, the UHI and decreased evaporation from urban impermeable surfaces diminish atmospheric relative humidity, suppressing light precipitation.

Abstract The shaking table test has been widely recognized as one of the most reliable methods for assessing the dynamic response of structures and systems when exposed to a range of vibrations. Replicating these vibrations, recorded as acceleration signals, necessitates precise controller designs. However, traditional controller designs primarily rely on linear system assumptions, leading to complications in incorporating parametric uncertainty and uncertain non‐linearity. This paper presents a novel approach to the acceleration trajectory control problem of single‐axis hydraulic shaking table systems from a non‐linear perspective. This strategy employs a controller combined with an extended state observer (ESO) and adaptive control, offering a design that more closely reflects real‐world scenarios and requires less parameter adjustment. The ESO estimates the uncertain non‐linearity using the displacement signal, while the parametric uncertainty is tackled through adaptive control. The proposed controller's effectiveness is validated through theoretical proof using Lyapunov analysis. The analysis demonstrates that asymptotic tracking performance is guaranteed when the uncertain non‐linearity is time‐invariant. Moreover, with time‐variant uncertain non‐linearity, the controller can also ensure both prescribed transient tracking performance and final tracking accuracy. Comparative experiment results underscore the superior performance of the proposed controller.

Abstract Glycans are complex biomolecules that encode rich information and regulate various biological processes, such as fertilization, host‐pathogen binding, and immune recognition, through interactions with glycan‐binding proteins. A key driving force for glycan‐protein recognition is the interaction between the π electron density of aromatic amino acid side chains and polarized C─H groups of the pyranose (termed the CH–π interaction). However, the relatively weak binding affinity between glycans and proteins has hindered the application of glycan detection and imaging. Here, computational modeling and molecular dynamics simulations are employed to design a chemical strategy that enhances the CH–π interaction between glycans and proteins by genetically incorporating electron‐rich tryptophan derivatives into a lectin PhoSL, which specifically recognizes core fucosylated N‐linked glycans. This significantly enhances the binding affinity of PhoSL with the core fucose ligand and enables sensitive detection and imaging of core fucosylated glycans in vitro and in xenograft tumors in mice. Further, the study showed that this strategy is applicable to improve the binding affinity of GafD lectin for N‐acetylglucosamine‐containing glycans. The approach thus provides a general and effective way to manipulate glycan‐protein recognition for glycoscience applications.

Abstract Layered two‐dimensional (2D) materials have garnered marvelous attention in diverse fields, including sensors, capacitors, nanocomposites and transistors, owing to their distinctive structural morphologies and superior physicochemical properties. Recently, layered quasi‐2D materials, especially layered bismuth oxyselenide (Bi2O2Se), are of particular interest, because of their different interlayer interactions from other layered 2D materials. On this basis, this material offers richer and more intriguing physics, including high electron mobility, sizeable bandgap, and remarkable thermal and chemical durability, rendering it an utterly prospective contender for use in advanced electronic and optoelectronic applications. Herein, this article reviews the recent advances related with Bi2O2Se. Initially, its structural characterization, band structure, and basic properties are briefly introduced. Further, the synthetic strategies for the preparation of Bi2O2Se are presented. Furthermore, the diverse applications of Bi2O2Se in the field of electronics and optoelectronics, photocatalytic, solar cells and sensing were summarized in detail. Ultimately, the challenges and future perspectives of Bi2O2Se are included.

Abstract Nanodrugs capable of aggregating in the tumor microenvironment (TME) have demonstrated great efficiency in improving the therapeutic outcome. Among various approaches, the strategy utilizing electrostatic interaction as a driving force to achieve intratumor aggregation of nanodrugs has attracted great attention. However, the great difference between the two nanodrugs with varied physicochemical properties makes their synchronous transport in blood circulation and equal‐opportunity tumor uptake impossible, which significantly detracts from the beneficial effects of nanodrug aggregation inside tumors. We herein propose a new strategy to construct a pair of extremely similar nanodrugs, referred to as “twins‐like nanodrugs (TLNs)”, which have identical physicochemical properties including the same morphology, size, and electroneutrality to render them the same blood circulation time and tumor entrance. The 1:1 mixture of TLNs (TLNs‐Mix) intravenously injected into a mouse model efficiently accumulates in tumor sites and then transfers to oppositely charged nanodrugs for electrostatic interaction‐driven coalescence via responding to matrix metalloproteinase‐2 (MMP‐2) enriched in tumor. In addition to enhanced tumor retention, the thus‐formed micron‐sized aggregates show high echo intensity essential for ultrasound imaging as well as ultrasound‐triggered penetrative drug delivery. Owing to their distinctive features, the TLNs‐Mix carrying sonosensitizer, immune adjuvant, and ultrasound contrast agent exert potent sonodynamic immunotherapy against hypovascular hepatoma, demonstrating their great potential in treating solid malignancies.

Abstract Perovskite single crystals have attracted tremendous attention owing to their excellent optoelectronic properties and stability compared to typical multicrystal structures. However, the growth of high‐quality perovskite single crystals (PSCs) generally relies on temperature gradients or the introduction of additives to promote crystal growth. In this study, a vacuum evaporation crystallization technique is developed that allows PSCs to be grown under extremely stable conditions at constant temperature and without requiring additives to promote crystal growth. The new method enables the growth of PSCs of unprecedented quality, that is, MAPbBr3 single crystals that exhibit an ultranarrow full width at half maximum of 0.00701°, which surpasses that of all previously reported values. In addition, the MAPbBr3 single crystals deliver exceptional optoelectronic performance, including a long carrier lifetime of 1006 ns, an ultralow trap‐state density of 3.67 × 109 cm−3, and an ultrahigh carrier mobility of 185.86 cm2 V−1 s−1. This method is applicable to various types of PSCs, including organic–inorganic hybrids, fully inorganic structures, and low‐dimensional structures.

The temperature experienced by avian embryos during development has important impacts on their growth and post‐hatching phenotypes. Ambient temperature can directly affect avian nest temperature and indirectly affect it through its impact on parental incubation behaviours. Because the nests of uniparental incubators are usually left unattended more frequently than the nests of biparental incubators whose nests can be attended by another bird when one bird leaves the nest, we predict that the effect of ambient temperature on nest temperature and thus on embryonic development (specifically, incubation period length and hatching success) and post‐hatching phenotype (i.e. potential carry‐over effect on nestling body mass and condition) should be greater in uniparental incubators than in biparental incubators. To test this prediction, we studied two congeneric species, the biparental incubating black‐throated tits Aegithalos concinnus and the uniparental incubating silver‐throated tits A. glaucogularis. We found that although the embryos of the two species both developed faster (shorter incubation period length) when ambient temperature was higher, the slope was significantly greater for silver‐throated tits than for black‐throated tits, consistent with our prediction of a greater effect of ambient temperature on embryonic development in silver‐throated tits. However, the result was not due to a greater effect of ambient temperature on nest temperature, because nest temperatures of the two species had positive relationships with ambient temperature in a similar way. Therefore, it implies a greater response of silver‐throated tit embryos to temperature change. In addition, ambient temperature during the incubation stage did not affect either hatching success or nestling body mass and condition in both species. Although our predictions were not fully supported, our findings highlight the different responses of embryonic development to environmental changes between a uniparental incubator and a biparental incubator, and suggest further research to explore the mechanisms.

Abstract Indoor navigation networks serve as the foundation for indoor pedestrian navigation services. However, current graph‐based topological network models cannot easily represent complex indoor structures in a manner consistent with user behaviour and cognitive patterns, and thus cannot support fine‐grained indoor navigation analysis services. To enhance the rationality of the model, we considered the influences of morphological and functional characteristics of indoor spaces on pedestrian movement and proposed a method for classifying navigation spaces. This method, based on convex space segmentation, defines morphological and functional characteristic functions, classifying indoor navigation spaces as either corridors or open spaces, which suitable for representing as median axis models or visual graphs, respectively. These categories supported the creation of topological network models for route planning analysis. Indoor map experiments confirmed the effectiveness of our method in identifying various types of corridors and open spaces, that addressing the limitations of width‐based parameters, even in complex indoor settings.

Abstract Prostate cancer (PCa) is a significant health concern affecting men worldwide. Previous studies have shown that nimotuzumab, a drug targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), can effectively inhibit cancer progression. Here, we aimed to explore the role of miR‐199a/214 cluster in mediating the inhibitory effect of nimotuzumab on the development of PCa. In this study, we conducted an MTT assay to assess cell proliferation and utilized flow cytometry to evaluate cell apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. To investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying the effects of nimotuzumab on prostate cancer development, we focused on the miR‐199a‐5p and miR‐214‐3p miRNA clusters. The TargetScan Human database was used to predict the binding sites between miR‐199a‐5p or miR‐214‐3p and the 3'‐UTR of the transducin (β)‐like 1 X‐linked receptor 1 (TBL1XR1) mRNA. To confirm the direct interaction and binding between miR‐199a‐5p or miR‐214‐3p and the 3'‐UTR of TBL1XR1 mRNA, we performed luciferase reporter assays. Our findings demonstrated that nimotuzumab exerted a significant dosage‐dependent suppression of PCa cell proliferation and facilitated PCa cell apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. Concurrently, nimotuzumab obviously impeded the activity of Wnt/β‐catenin and EGFR signaling pathways in PCa cells. We also observed downregulation of miR‐199a‐5p and miR‐214‐3p in PCa cells. Overexpression of miR‐199a/214 cluster inhibited PCa cell viability and enhanced cell apoptosis. Furthermore, we found that miR‐199a/214 cluster augmented the inhibitory effect of nimotuzumab on PCa cell proliferation and promoted its ability to induce apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. This effect was reversed upon TBL1XR1 overexpression, indicating that TBL1XR1 is involved in the regulatory pathway of miR‐199a/214 and nimotuzumab in PCa cells. We further revealed that TBL1XR1 was overexpressed in PCa and was identified as a downstream target of the miR‐199a/214 cluster. In nimotuzumab‐treated PCa cells, the overexpression of miR‐199a/214 markedly inhibited Wnt/β‐catenin and EGFR signaling, and this effect was also rescued by TBL1XR1 overexpression. In summary, our data indicated that miR‐199a/214 cluster play a crucial role in enhancing the inhibitory effect of nimotuzumab on PCa development by downregulating TBL1XR1 and modulating Wnt/β‐catenin and EGFR signaling pathways. These findings offer a novel therapeutic approach for the treatment of prostate cancer.

Abstract The aim of the present study was to develop low‐cost techniques for culturing seahorses in extensive shrimp ponds to foster a legal and more sustainable production chain to meet market demand for traditional Chinese medicine. In the present article, the results of two‐year experiments of seahorse culture in cages and extensive shrimp ponds are reported. We found that juveniles of the lined seahorse survived in cages and ponds very well, and the juvenile survival generally was >70% during the experimental periods. The survival and growth of the juveniles were similar to or even better than that reported in indoor tank culture. Additionally, the lined seahorse survived well (>60%) at temperatures up to 34.6°C which is the highest recorded temperature for the species in the field. For large ponds of >5 ha, cage culture may be a better way. For small ponds of

Abstract Retroperitoneal ganglioneuroma is a rare benign tumor that is challenging in terms of clinical diagnosis. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are usually performed for diagnosis rather than convenient and inexpensive ultrasonography. Here, we present the case of a 21‐year‐old female patient who was diagnosed by multimodal ultrasound imaging and whose diagnosis was confirmed by ultrasound‐guided core needle biopsy before surgery. We hope that this rare case will help clinicians and radiologists realize the advantages of multimodal ultrasound imaging in the diagnosis of retropeitoneal solid tumors, and reduce misdiagnosis.

Abstract As a new algorithm to achieve sparse aperture inverse synthetic aperture radar (SA‐ISAR) imaging, the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) suffers from selection of model parameters and the inability to discriminate the target and non‐target components. Therefore, an improved ADMM (I‐ADMM) algorithm is proposed to solve these problems. First, the particle swarm optimisation (PSO) algorithm is utilised to obtain the optimal model parameters. Aiming to adequately preserve the target's shape information in the ISAR image, a modified image entropy (IE) is proposed to be the objective function of the PSO. Then, a new regularisation function is obtained from the ADMM based ISAR image. The proposed algorithm can enhance the target components and suppress the non‐target components by utilising the regularisation function. Finally, results based on the simulated and measured data show that the proposed I‐ADMM algorithm not only achieves at least 9.4% improvement in IE but also greatly improves the image quality as visually compared with the traditional ADMM algorithm which validates the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed algorithm. Abstract Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor and the leading cause of cancer‐related deaths in women worldwide. Effective means of predicting the prognosis of breast cancer are very helpful in guiding treatment and improving patients' survival. Features extracted by radiomics reflect the genetic and molecular characteristics of a tumor and are related to its biological behavior and the patient's prognosis. Thus, radiomics provides a new approach to noninvasive assessment of breast cancer prognosis. Ultrasound is one of the commonest clinical means of examining breast cancer. In recent years, some results of research into ultrasound radiomics for diagnosing breast cancer, predicting lymph node status, treatment response, recurrence and survival times, and other aspects, have been published. In this article, we review the current research status and technical challenges of ultrasound radiomics for predicting breast cancer prognosis. We aim to provide a reference for radiomics researchers, promote the development of ultrasound radiomics, and advance its clinical application.

Abstract Exosomes, membrane vesicles released extracellularly from cells, contain nucleic acids, proteins, lipids and other components, allowing the transfer of material information between cells. Recent studies reported the role of exosomes in pathogenic microbial infection and host immune mechanisms. Brucella‐invasive bodies can survive in host cells for a long time and cause chronic infection, which causes tissue damage. Whether exosomes are involved in host anti‐Brucella congenital immune responses has not been reported. Here, we extracted and identified exosomes secreted by Brucella melitensis M5 (Exo‐M5)‐infected macrophages, and performed in vivo and in vitro studies to examine the effects of exosomes carrying antigen on the polarization of macrophages and immune activation. Exo‐M5 promoted the polarization of M1 macrophages, which induced the significant secretion of M1 cytokines (tumour necrosis factor‐α and interferon‐γ) through NF‐κB signalling pathways and inhibited the secretion of M2 cytokines (IL‐10), thereby inhibiting the intracellular survival of Brucella. Exo‐M5 activated innate immunity and promoted the release of IgG2a antibodies that protected mice from Brucella infection and reduced the parasitaemia of Brucella in the spleen. Furthermore, Exo‐M5 contained Brucella antigen components, including Omp31 and OmpA. These results demonstrated that exosomes have an important role in immune responses against Brucella, which might help elucidate the mechanisms of host immunity against Brucella infection and aid the search for Brucella biomarkers and the development of new vaccine candidates.

Abstract The increasing needs for new types of computing lie in the requirements in harsh environments. In this study, the successful development of a non‐electrical neural network is presented that functions based on mechanical computing. By overcoming the challenges of low mechanical signal transmission efficiency and intricate layout design methodologies, a mechanical neural network based on bistable kirigami‐based mechanical metamaterials have designed. In preliminary tests, the system exhibits high reliability in recognizing handwritten digits and proves operable in low‐temperature environments. This work paves the way for a new, alternative computing system with broad applications in areas where electricity is not accessible. By integrating with the traditional electronic computers, the present system lays the foundation for a more diversified form of computing.

Background Alveolar hypoxia is protective in the context of cardiovascular and ischemic heart disease; however, the underlying mechanisms are incompletely understood. The present study sought to test the hypothesis that hypoxia is cardioprotective in left ventricular pressure overload (LVPO)–induced heart failure. We furthermore aimed to test that overlapping mechanisms promote cardiac recovery in heart failure patients following left ventricular assist device‐mediated mechanical unloading and circulatory support. Methods and Results We established a novel murine model of combined chronic alveolar hypoxia and LVPO following transverse aortic constriction (HxTAC). The HxTAC model is resistant to cardiac hypertrophy and the development of heart failure. The cardioprotective mechanisms identified in our HxTAC model include increased activation of HIF (hypoxia‐inducible factor)‐1α–mediated angiogenesis, attenuated induction of genes associated with pathological remodeling, and preserved metabolic gene expression as identified by RNA sequencing. Furthermore, LVPO decreased Tbx5 and increased Hsd11b1 mRNA expression under normoxic conditions, which was attenuated under hypoxic conditions and may induce additional hypoxia‐mediated cardioprotective effects. Analysis of samples from patients with advanced heart failure that demonstrated left ventricular assist device–mediated myocardial recovery revealed a similar expression pattern for TBX5 and HSD11B1 as observed in HxTAC hearts. Conclusions Hypoxia attenuates LVPO‐induced heart failure. Cardioprotective pathways identified in the HxTAC model might also contribute to cardiac recovery following left ventricular assist device support. These data highlight the potential of our novel HxTAC model to identify hypoxia‐mediated cardioprotective mechanisms and therapeutic targets that attenuate LVPO‐induced heart failure and mediate cardiac recovery following mechanical circulatory support.

Abstract The space hurricane is a three‐dimensional magnetic vortex structure with strong flow shears and electron precipitation in the polar cap. This study investigates for the first time how a space hurricane disturbs the polar thermosphere. During the formation and development of the space hurricane, the directional reversal of the horizontal neutral wind and the plasma convection will both be relocated from the poleward auroral oval boundary to the edge of the space hurricane, but the neutral wind responds slower compared to the plasma convection. Strong flow shears in the space hurricane causes enhanced Joule heating in the polar cap, which heats the thermosphere and triggers Atmospheric Gravity Waves (AGWs). Statistical results reveal that significant AGWs mainly are located on the dawnside of the space hurricane, suggesting that the space hurricane plays a significant role in ion‐neutral coupling and generation of polar cap AGWs.

Abstract Hepatoblastoma, a common extracranial malignant solid tumor in childhood, is often detected at an advanced stage and is difficult to treat surgically. Despite the availability of multiple comprehensive treatments that can be combined with surgery, hepatoblastoma treatment outcomes remain poor. Surgery is the main treatment strategy for hepatoblastoma, but it faces many challenges, including tumor attachment to surrounding tissues, tumor wrapping or invading of vital organs and tissues, the presence of giant or multiple tumors, distant metastasis, the formation of a tumor thrombus, and significant surgical trauma. In this review, we discuss recent research advances and propose potential strategies for overcoming these challenges. Such strategies may improve the rate of hepatoblastoma resection and local control in children, as well as reduce complications and trauma.

Abstract Background Poststroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) is a prevalent complication among stroke survivors. Although the systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI) has been shown to be a reliable predictor of a variety of inflammatory diseases, the association between the SIRI and PSCI is still unclear. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between SIRI and PSCI, and to design a nomogram to predict the risk of PSCI in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients. Methods A total of 1342 patients with AIS were included in the study. Using the Mini‐Mental State Examination scale, patients were separated into PSCI and non‐PSCI groups within 2 weeks of stroke. Clinical data and SIRI values were compared between the groups. We developed the optimal nomogram for predicting PSCI using multivariate logistic regression. Finally, the nomogram was validated using the receiver operating characteristic curve, calibration curve, and decision curve analysis (DCA). Abstract A20‐binding inhibitor of NF‐κB activation (ABIN1) is a polyubiquitin‐binding protein that regulates cell death and immune responses. Although Abin1 is located on chromosome 5q in the region commonly deleted in patients with 5q minus syndrome, the most distinct of the myelodysplastic syndromes (MDSs), the precise role of ABIN1 in MDSs remains unknown. In this study, mice with a mutation disrupting the polyubiquitin‐binding site (Abin1Q478H/Q478H) is generated. These mice develop MDS‐like diseases characterized by anemia, thrombocytopenia, and megakaryocyte dysplasia. Extramedullary hematopoiesis and bone marrow failure are also observed in Abin1Q478H/Q478H mice. Although Abin1Q478H/Q478H cells are sensitive to RIPK1 kinase–RIPK3–MLKL‐dependent necroptosis, only anemia and splenomegaly are alleviated by RIPK3 deficiency but not by MLKL deficiency or the RIPK1 kinase‐dead mutation. This indicates that the necroptosis‐independent function of RIPK3 is critical for anemia development in Abin1Q478H/Q478H mice. Notably, Abin1Q478H/Q478H mice exhibit higher levels of type I interferon (IFN‐I) expression in bone marrow cells compared towild‐type mice. Consistently, blocking type I IFN signaling through the co‐deletion of Ifnar1 greatly ameliorated anemia, thrombocytopenia, and splenomegaly in Abin1Q478H/Q478H mice. Together, these results demonstrates that ABIN1(Q478) prevents the development of hematopoietic deficiencies by regulating type I IFN expression.

Abstract Advanced sustainable biomedical materials are urgently needed for clinical applications; however, developing biomedical materials with exceptional mechanical and bactericidal properties as well as removable functionalities to reduce unintended secondary injury remains a challenge. Here, we report a biomass‐derived composite consisting of water‐soluble fish gelatin (FG) and antibacterial ZnO@silk fibroin (ZSF) microspheres for potential application as the wound dressing. The ZSF microspheres are embedded in a FG matrix to realize the stretchable, antibacterial, and removable ZSF/FG composites. By introducing glycerin as the plasticizer, ZSF/FG composites deliver a tensile strength of 4.5 MPa and stretchability of 550%. Acting as both the germicide and hydrophile components, ZSF microspheres endow the composites with excellent antibacterial capacity and water solubility. To prevent secondary injury, the ZSF/FG composites can be easily removed from the wounds by simply exposing them to excess water. Additionally, the ZSF/FG composites exhibit favorable biocompatibility and sustain high cell viability of over 100%. The full‐thickness skin wound model on infected mice demonstrated an efficient rate of wound closure and a reduced inflammatory response. The ZSF/FG composite shows promise to hasten the healing of infected wounds and is expected a promising candidate as wound dressing for clinical therapy.

Abstract Background Maintaining intraoperative haemodynamic stability can reduce cardiovascular complications during surgery for pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma (PPGL). Risk factors such as tumour size and catecholamine levels are reported to predict haemodynamic responses during surgery for PPGL. We hypothesized that additional factors including body composition and genetic information could further improve prediction. Methods Consecutive patients with PPGL confirmed by surgical pathology between June 2010 and June 2019 were retrospectively included. Cross‐sectional computed tomography images at the L3 level were used to assess body composition parameters including skeletal muscle area and visceral fat area. Next‐generation sequencing was performed using a panel containing susceptibility genes of PPGL. Differences in clinical‐genetic characteristics and body composition parameters were analysed and compared in patients with and without intraoperative haemodynamic instability (HDI). Results We included 221 patients with PPGL (median age 47 [38–56] years, and 52% male). Among them, 49.8% had Cluster 2 mutations (related to kinase signalling pathways), 44.8% had sarcopenia, and 52.9% experienced intraoperative HDI. Compared with patients without HDI, more patients with HDI had Cluster 2 mutations (59.8% vs. 38.5%, P = 0.002) and less had sarcopenia (35.9% vs. 54.8%, P = 0.005). Multivariate analysis showed that urine vanillylmandelic acid ≥ 58 μmol/day (adjusted odds ratio [OR] = 1.840, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.012–3.347, P = 0.046), tumour size ≥ 4 cm (adjusted OR = 2.278, 95% CI = 1.242–4.180, P = 0.008), and Cluster 2 mutations (adjusted OR = 2.199, 95% CI = 1.128–4.285, P = 0.021) were independent risk factors for intraoperative HDI, while sarcopenia (adjusted OR = 0.475, 95% CI = 0.266–0.846, P = 0.012) decreased the risk. Conclusions Body composition and genotype were associated with intraoperative haemodynamics in patients with PPGL. Our results indicated that inclusion of body composition and genotype in the overall assessment of patients with PPGL helped to predict HDI during surgery, which could assist in implementing preoperative and intraoperative measures to reduce perioperative complications.

Abstract The shipborne‐passive bistatic inverse synthetic aperture radar system with digital video broadcasting terrestrial (DVB‐T) signals is very important in the fields of radar imaging, but it suffers from the problems of grating lobes caused by the spectral gaps when multiple DVB‐T channels are applied, and the non‐stationary echo signal for the complex motions of the ship. In this paper, a new algorithm based on the Missing Data Iterative Adaptive Approach (MIAA) combined with the Range Instantaneous Doppler (RID) technique is proposed to address these problems. First, the authors establish the imaging geometry and signal model. Based on these models, the range resolution and Doppler frequency are analysed. Then, the bandwidth synthesis in the frequency domain for the DVB‐T signal is derived. Finally, the MIAA method is used to recover the spectral gaps of the range profile for multiple DVB‐T channels, and the azimuth compression is carried out by the RID method after the translational motion compensation. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the algorithm proposed in this paper.

Abstract Recently, the underlying mechanism of vascular calcification (VC) has been partially elucidated. However, it is still high incidence, and no effective treatment has been found. This study aims at figuring out the underlying mechanisms of microRNA‐708‐5p (miR‐708‐5p)/sodium‐phosphate transporter 1 (Pit‐1) axis in high phosphate (HP)‐induced VC of T/G HA‐VSMCs. Alizarin Red S staining was used to evaluate calcium salt deposition, and the activity of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) was determined by measuring the absorbance at 405 nm. RT‐qPCR and Western blot were performed to assess the levels of miR‐708‐5p and Pit‐1, the levels of ALP, Pit‐1, β‐catenin, glycogen synthesis kinase 3 β (GSK3β), and p‐GSK3β proteins, respectively. The interaction between miR‐708‐5p and Pit‐1 was validated by luciferase reporter assay. Our findings illustrated that miR‐708‐5p was downregulated and Pit‐1was upregulated in HP‐induced VC. MiR‐708‐5p mimics inhibited HP‐induced VC. Further experiments demonstrated that miR‐708‐5p targets Pit‐1. In addition, miR‐708‐5p inactivates the Wnt8b/β‐catenin pathway via targeting Pit‐1 to reduce HP‐induced VC. MiR‐708‐5p has a crucial effect on VC via targeting Pit‐1 and inhibiting Wnt8b/β‐catenin pathway, it may serve as a new target for VC treatment.

Abstract When participating in demand response, the industrial adjustable load has the advantages of large capacity, high benefit, and easy management compared with commercial and residential loads. However, the stage of the production process is strongly coupled with the power consumption process, especially in the steel industry. Here, a multi‐objective optimization model for the optimal scheduling of hot rolling load considering the actual production operation conditions was proposed, the model was abstracted into a vehicle routing problem (VRP) ,which is a typical combinatorial optimization problem .To minimize the cost of electricity and the risk of delivery order default, this paper considered the jump penalty value between adjacent slabs simultaneously, constructed an integrated scheduling model of hot rolling shop scheduling and power demand response, and designed a multi‐objective production scheduling algorithm based on NSGA‐II to solve the problem. The results showed that the proposed method can realize the reasonable distribution of production load under the constraints of electricity price and production.

Abstract Combining well‐drilling hammers with polycrystalline diamond compact bits to break rock under cutting load and impact load is an effective way to improve drilling efficiency. Although impact load can enhance the cutting efficiency of the cutter, excessive impact can also cause the cutter to be subjected to additional vibrations, which can decrease its working life. Knowledge of laws governing the changes in the cutting force of the cutter under impact load is essential for the design and selection of well‐drilling hammers. Based on rock scratch tests and finite element rock cutting model, a discrete element modeling (DEM) rock cutting model was established to analyze the rock breaking and cutting force. Then, the material parameters of rock samples were determined, and the simulation parameters were corrected. Finally, a DEM rock cutting model under an impact load was established. The results showed that when there was an obvious difference between the average cutting force and mean peak cutting force, which corresponded to the rock‐breaking transition from ductile to brittle, with introduction of the impact load leading to an earlier transition. The cutting force variance was proportional to the impact amplitude, and the increase in the cutting force variance became more obvious when the static load exceeded the critical transition weight. When the ratio of the impact amplitude to the static load was greater than 50%, the mean and variance of the cutting force increased rapidly. Under the same impact amplitude, the impact frequency had little effect on the average cutting force, but a higher frequency could significantly reduce the variance of the cutting force under a high static load (i.e., it could alleviate the fluctuation of the cutting force). These results provide a reference for the selection of well‐drilling hammers and optimization of the impact load.

Abstract A translational motion estimation and compensation method is proposed based on the parametric method by multiple stations in the distributed inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging. For ship targets with complex motion, the distributed ISAR increases the cross‐range resolution of the image by expanding the observation angle. However, the translation compensation methods by a single station will destroy the correlation between the echoes, which reduces the image quality, and a more accurate joint translation compensation method is required. Multi‐static observation is obtained in the Distributed system, which we can utilise in the parameter estimation: 1) joint Doppler estimation, 2) station angle estimation, and 3) rotation velocity estimation. Based on the above estimations, the velocity vector and the acceleration vector of the target can be obtained, and then the translational motion compensation can be realised parametrically. The algorithm processing chain is presented in this paper. Finally, the numerical simulations with four stations are presented to verify the effectiveness and the robustness of the proposed algorithm.

Abstract Biosensors featuring single molecule detection present huge opportunities as well as challenges in food safety inspection, disease diagnosis, and environmental monitoring. Single‐molecule detection is largely lacking of high enough activity, precision molecule selectivity, and understanding in the exact operating mechanism. Single‐atom catalysts (SACs), especially those metals‐nitrogen‐carbon that mimic the natural metalloenzyme structure, and with well‐defined metal atom bond configurations, high level of molecular selectivity, and easy fabrication, endow single molecule detections with practical‐use feasibilities. The recent advances in single‐atom catalysts also present new pathways in the key mechanism understandings. In this short review, we will first visit the brief history and advantages of SACs that have been explored only recently for molecule‐scale biosensors, where they are analogous and also differentiated from those nanozymes and natural metalloenzymes. Their applications in electrochemical, photochemical, and photoelectrochemical sensors are then discussed comprehensively by focusing on the different molecule‐scale sensing modes in achieving local coordination‐modulated signal amplifications. Finally, we identify new opportunities and challenges faced by these SACs‐based single molecule detections in the further development of biosensors.

Abstract Recent climate and environment over the Tibetan Plateau (TP) have undergone significant changes, dominated by variations in the Westerlies and the Indian summer monsoon. However, long‐term shifts in atmospheric circulation during the transitional seasons are still lacking. Here we investigate the modern distribution of Tsuga pollen over the central‐western TP and confirm it as an indicator of variable atmospheric circulation in spring. By combining our Tsuga record from Taro Co with existing records in the Tsuga pollen source area, we suggest that a potential particle transport pathway from the southern slope of the Himalayas to the interior of the plateau appeared in the spring of the late Holocene. Our results show that the springtime atmospheric circulation over the southwestern TP during the early and late Holocene is closely related to the substantial remnants of ice sheets at northern high latitudes and the frequency of El Niño events, respectively.

Abstract Throat auroras and polar cap patches are common phenomena in the polar ionosphere resulting from magnetosphere‐ionosphere coupling. A campaign was organized, with all‐sky imagers at Yellow River Station, the European Incoherent Scatter Svalbard Radar, and coordinated low‐altitude spacecraft observations. During periods of radial interplanetary magnetic field (IMF), observations showed that, as poleward moving throat auroras faded around the polar cap boundary, they linked to poleward moving ionization patches. The throat auroras were produced by soft‐electron precipitation associated with dayside magnetic reconnection. The red line emission intensity of throat auroras was correlated with dayside reconnection events. Dense plasma from lower latitudes was transported poleward via enhanced convection in the throat auroras to form patches. This is a potentially new formation mechanism for patches associated with throat auroras and magnetic reconnection for radial IMF. Moreover, the patches move anti‐sunward due to the E × B drift.

Background Abnormal regulation of vascular smooth muscle cells is regarded as the iconic pathological change of aortic dissection (AD). Herein, we aim to identify circ_0022920 as a crucial regulator in AD. Methods and Results Microarray analysis of circular RNAs, messenger RNAs, and micro RNAs in patients with AD was performed, and we identified that circ_0022920 was significantly downregulated in these patients. The Pearson correlation analysis uncovered the negative correlation between miR‐650 and circ_0022920 or TGFβR1 (transforming growth factor beta receptor 1). Angiotensin II was used to treat human aortic vascular smooth muscle cells (HASMCs) and mice as models for AD. Hematoxylin and eosin and Masson's trichrome staining were used to analyze AD histopathology. Cell proliferation was analyzed with Cell Counting Kit‐8 assay and EdU incorporation. Cell migration was assessed with transwell and wound healing assays. Enhanced circ_0022920 expression dramatically inhibited HASMC proliferation and migration and maintained contractile marker expression induced by angiotensin II, whereas miR‐650 exerted opposite effects. MiR‐650 was a target of circ_0022920. MiR‐650 targeted IRF1 (interferon regulatory factor 1) and thus negatively regulated TGFβR1 expression to promote HASMC proliferation and migration and inhibit contractile marker expression. Circ_0022920 suppressed the progression of AD in vivo. Conclusions Circ_0022920 modulates the contractile phenotype of HASMCs via regulating the miR‐650‐IRF1‐TGFβR1 axis in angiotensin II‐induced models for AD, which provides potential therapeutic targets for AD.

Summary In the last two decades, the production of complex polyketides such as erythromycin and its precursor 6‐deoxyerythronolide B (6‐dEB) was demonstrated feasible in Escherichia coli. Although the heterologous production of polyketide skeleton 6‐dEB has reached 210 mg l−1 in E. coli, the yield of its post‐modification products erythromycins remains to be improved. Cytochrome P450EryF catalyses the C6 hydroxylation of 6‐dEB to form erythronolide B (EB), which is the initial rate‐limiting modification in a multi‐step pathway to convert 6‐dEB into erythromycin. Here, we engineered hydroxylase EryF to improve the production of heterologous polyketide EB in E. coli. By comparative analysis of various versions of P450EryFs, we confirmed the optimal SaEryF for the biosynthesis of EB. Further mutation of SaEryF based on the crystal structure of SaEryF and homology modelling of AcEryF and AeEryF afforded the enhancement of EB production. The designed mutant of SaEryF, I379V, achieved the yield of 131 mg l−1 EB, which was fourfold to that produced by wild‐type SaEryF. Moreover, the combined mutagenesis of multiple residues led to further boost the EB concentration by another 41%, which laid the foundation for efficient heterologous biosynthesis of erythromycin or other complex polyketides.

Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAF) are the most abundant stromal cells in tumor and exert a pro‐tumoral effect in cancer progression. Numerous evidence shows long non‐coding RNA (lncRNA) abnormally regulates gene expression in various cancers. However, little is known about the role of lncRNA in the interaction between CAF and cancer cells. Here, we first identify an uncharacterized lncRNA, LOC100506114, which is significantly upregulated in CAF and is involved in the functional transformation of normal fibroblasts (NF) and CAF. Expression of LOC100506114 enhances the expression of fibroblast activation protein alpha and α‐smooth muscle actin in NF and promotes malignant characteristics of NF and CAF in vivo and in vitro. The profile of gene co‐expression analysis shows that growth differentiation factor 10 (GDF10) is positively correlated with the expression of LOC100506114. CAF promote stromal fibroblast activation and the proliferation and migration of tumor cells by secreting GDF10. Our data demonstrate that lncRNA plays a critical role in the interplay of stromal fibroblasts and tumor cells in oral squamous cell carcinoma.

Abstract To improve the reliability and optimize the maintenance strategy of a large‐scale wind farm, a health condition assessment method of wind turbine generator system (WTGS) based on multiple turbines cooperation is presented in this paper. First, a health condition assessment framework is established by analyzing the existing monitoring characteristics of SCADA system. Second, to quantify the health condition of a WTGS, the concept of synthetic degradation factor is introduced and calculated using variable weight of assessment indices. Third, in order to acquire the health level of a WTGS effectively, based on the idea of multiple turbines cooperation, the health condition assessment model is proposed by utilizing the moving average method and quantile algorithm. Finally, by using SCADA monitoring data of a wind farm with 33 × 1.5 MW WTGSs including temperature, pressure, vibration, and so on; the processes of condition assessment are performed, and the effectiveness is also compared to a traditional assessment method with the fixed threshold. The results show that the condition assessment that utilizes the proposed method can acquire the change of health conditions and has a better coherence with real health conditions.

Abstract A 0.7 V, R‐2R SAR ladder‐based temperature sensor with less supply sensitivity is presented, intended for Very Large‐Scale Integration thermal management. Its silicided and non‐silicided resistors in the R‐2R ladders serve as both thermal sensing and quantization elements. The only active component it requires is the comparator, which is compatible with low power supply voltage. The post‐layout simulation results show it has an inaccuracy of 0.5°C between –40°C and 125°C for TT, FF and SS corners.

Abstract A novel optimal time selection method for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data processing via the expectation‐maximization (EM) algorithm is proposed, which can reduce the computational complexity and improve the image quality simultaneously. First, the Doppler frequency feature after the SAR processing is analyzed from the point of probability. Then, the Doppler frequency is modelled as the Gaussian mixture model (GMM), and the issue of optimal time selection can be implemented by the parameter estimation of GMM. The results of simulated and real measured data are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract A contribution to the engineering application of a proposed 500 kV fault current limiter (FCL) is presented. A new type of FCL composed of a highly coupled split reactor (HCSR) and fast switches is proposed. When the circuit breaker (CB) in series with the FCL in the 500 kV power system interrupts the limited fault current, the rate of rise of the recovery voltage (RRRV) reaches a value much higher than the rated value. Based on a simplified equivalent single‐phase circuit, the influence of the new FCL on the interruption procedure of the CB is simulated and discussed. The simulation results show that the high RRRV is caused by high‐frequency resonant oscillations between the HCSR and its parasite capacitance. Analysis indicates that when the reactance of the FCL is close to the short circuit reactance of the system, the RRRV will reach the highest value. To solve this issue, we proposed installing a shunt capacitor with the FCL. Simulation results showed that the RRRV under all fault modes could be restrained to below the rated value by introducing a certain shunt capacitor.

Abstract The Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau (QTP) has the highest elevations of all biodiversity hotspots. Difficulties involved in fieldwork at high elevations cause challenges in researching mechanisms facilitating species coexistence. Herein, we investigated Snow Partridge (Lerwa lerwa) and Tibetan Snowcock (Tetraogallus tibetanus), the only two endemic Galliformes on the QTP, to understand species coexistence patterns and determine how they live in sympatry for the first time. We assembled occurrence data, estimated habitat suitability differences and the underlying factors between two species at different scales using ecological niche models. Niche overlap tests were used to investigate whether niche differences between these species allow for their coexistence. We found that elevation was the most important factor determining habitat suitability for both species. At the meso‐scale, two species have similar ecological niches with their suitable habitats lying predominantly along ridge crests. However, ridge crests were more influential for habitat suitability by L. lerwa than for that of T. tibetanus because the latter species ranges further afield than ridge crests. Thus, differences in habitat suitability between these species lead to habitat partitioning, which allows stable coexistence. At the macro‐scale, temperature and precipitation were major factors influencing habitat suitability differences between these species. Tetraogallus tibetanus extended into the hinterland of the QTP and occurred at higher elevations, where colder and drier alpine conditions are commonplace. Conversely, L. lerwa occurred along the southeastern margin of the QTP with a lower snow line, an area prone to rainy and humid habitats. Niche overlap analysis showed that habitat suitability differences between these species are not driven by niche differentiation. We concluded that the coexistence of these two pheasants under high‐elevation conditions could be an adaption to different alpine conditions.

Abstract This paper studies the stability and scalability of the platoon where multiple vehicles move in a closed roadway and are coupled in a bidirectional ring. Each vehicle regulates its longitudinal motion based on bidirectional asymmetric control with triple asymmetry factors. By exploiting Hermite stability criterion, we derive necessary and sufficient conditions of stability for the n‐vehicle platoon. Based on parametric robustness analysis, necessary and sufficient conditions of scalably asymptotic stability are further obtained, meaning that the stability is independent of the number of vehicles in the platoon. It is proved that symmetric spacing feedback is necessary for scalably asymptotic stability and the first spatial mode is the least stable among all the non‐zero modes. Numerical computations show that the stability region in the space of feedback gains is favourable when the asymmetry level on speed gain is small and the asymmetry level on acceleration gain is large, whereas it may deteriorate rapidly when these two asymmetry factors have different signs.
