Abstract This paper introduces a kernel‐based approach to enhance the security of distributed estimation in the presence of adversary links. Adversary links often degrade distributed recovery algorithm performance in distributed estimation. The authors propose secure distributed estimation algorithms employing an adaptive kernel and adaptive combination coefficients derived from it. The authors’ method includes a multiple kernel approach with varied widths and a heuristic formula for combination coefficients, improving performance in the presence of adversary links. Additionally, the approach is extended to single exponential kernels with fixed and adaptive widths, treating them as special cases. The multiple kernel method is used because it provides more degrees of freedom compared to a single kernel, leading to better results. Simulation results show that the proposed multiple kernel approach achieves performance close to the diffusion least mean square algorithm in the absence of attacks. The adaptive nature of the kernel and coefficients enhances algorithm robustness, making it promising for secure distributed estimation in the presence of adversary links.

Abstract This research proposes the application of fractional‐order sliding mode control (FOSMC) at the primary controller level to improve the stability of an islanded microgrid by adjusting its voltage and frequency. The control strategies used in the microgrid are performed in two levels (primary and secondary) in the islanded mode. Practically, most previous studies have worked to improve the primary controller. Droop control is one of the most commonly used methods at the primary level and is adopted in this study as well. The sliding mode control (SMC) strategy is normally used to control linear equations. Thus, the non‐linear microgrid equations were transformed into some linear ones using the input‐output feedback linearization technique. Further, a fractional sliding surface was acquainted. The sliding surface and FOSMC were designed to reject system uncertainties and organize the voltage and frequency. Design parameters were chosen using the Lyapunov stability theorem. The validation of the proposed method using Simulink‐MATLAB confirms its effectiveness in enhancing level power sharing, regulating frequency, and maintaining voltage stability across the system.

Abstract Modular multilevel green converter based high voltage direct current (MMC‐HVDC) transmission system has become a practical solution to interconnect renewable energy sources to main AC grids. Connecting the MMC to a weak AC system is still a challengeable problem. This paper proposes a sliding mode control‐based method for the MMC. By considering short circuit ratio parameter of the AC grid as uncertainty, a suitable mathematical model is developed. Also, relations among control parameters and their validity conditions are obtained. The proposed control scheme has faster dynamic responses to uncertainty and external disturbances compared to the conventional vector current control method with proportional–integral controller. At last, simulation results in the MATLAB/SIMULINK software environment are presented that the proposed control scheme is effective.

Abstract As inverter‐based resources like wind turbines increase, grid inertia and stability decrease. Optimal placement and control of energy storage systems can stablise low‐inertia grids. This paper investigates how optimal battery energy storage systems (BESS) enhance stability in low‐inertia grids after sudden generation loss. The sitting, sizing and control of BESS are determined simultaneously in each genetic algorithm (GA) population, then voltage and frequency stability is evaluated based on the network simulation. This continues until the optimal solution is found. A network based on Kundur's four‐machine system is modelled for the first study and two of the four synchronous generators (SGs) have been replaced with wind farms. Then, the production of the third SG has been decreased by 13%. According to the results, addition of wind farms causes the frequency drop below 49.6 Hz for more than 5 min, indicating instability. It is also demonstrated that with optimal control parameters and placement, a 60 MW BESS can alleviate the voltage and frequency fluctuations, leading to enhanced stability. This method has also been tested on the IEEE 39‐bus network, where the installation of a BESS with a capacity of 9 MVA could restore the frequency stability.

Abstract Introduction Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) is a patient‐centerd, evidence‐based approach to improve postoperative outcomes. The protocol involves multidisciplinary collaboration and standardisation of perioperative interventions. ERAS has shown positive results in reducing hospitalisation and complications. Methods The study conducted in the Department of Urology was a retro‐prospective study. It included an ERAS cohort group of 47 patients, studied prospectively from May 2021 to May 2023. These patients were compared to a historical cohort of 47 consecutive patients who underwent radical cystectomy with traditional care before the ERAS pathway was implemented. The primary outcome was hospital length of stay (LOS). Secondary outcomes included perioperative management, time to recovery milestones and complications. Abstract The rapid increase and adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) devices have introduced unprecedented conveniences into modern life. However, this growth has also ushered in a wave of cyberattacks targeting these often‐vulnerable systems. Smart cities, relying on interconnected sensors, are particularly susceptible to attacks due to the expanded entry points created by these devices. A security breach in such systems can compromise personal data and disrupt entire ecosystems. Traditional security measures are inadequate against the evolving sophistication of cyberattacks. The authors aim to address these challenges by leveraging honeypot data and machine learning to enhance IoT security. The research focuses on three objectives: identifying datasets from IoT‐targeted honeypots, evaluating machine learning algorithms for threat detection, and proposing comprehensive security solutions. Real‐world cyber‐attack datasets from diverse honeypots simulating IoT devices are analysed using various machine learning and neural network algorithms. Results demonstrate significant improvement in cyber‐attack detection and mitigation when integrating honeypot data into IoT security frameworks. ABSTRACT Utilizing self‐centering materials, such as shape memory alloys (SMA), as reinforcement in concrete structures can positively influence their performance during and after earthquakes. Despite the high cost of SMAs, their unique flag‐shaped stress–strain behavior and effective energy dissipation make them an attractive material choice in some structures. This study evaluates the application of iron‐based SMAs in enhancing the seismic performance of coupled concrete shear walls. The purpose is to identify optimal SMA placement strategies within the walls' plastic hinges to improve energy dissipation, reduce residual drift, and enhance ductility. This research explores pre‐tensioned and non‐pre‐tensioned SMA configurations through macro‐element modeling and cyclic analysis. Presenting a comparative framework that balances material efficiency and structural performance differentiates this study from prior studies focused predominantly on SMA benefits in isolated structural applications. Two optimization scenarios are proposed: maximizing energy dissipation and minimizing residual drift, and reducing SMA usage while maintaining structural efficiency. The results indicate that pre‐tensioned SMAs in the wall web provide the most significant improvement in seismic behavior, significantly reducing residual drift and increasing ductility. This approach offers a cost‐effective solution for improving earthquake resilience in structures.

Abstract Income maps have been extensively used for identifying populations vulnerable to global changes. The frequency and intensity of extreme events are likely to increase in coming years as a result of climate change. In this context, several studies have hypothesized that the economic and social impact of extreme events depend on income. However, to rigorously test this hypothesis, fine‐scale spatial income data is needed, compatible with the analysis of extreme climatic events. To produce reliable high‐resolution income data, we have developed an innovative machine learning framework, that we applied to produce a European 1 km‐gridded data set of per capita disposable income for 2015. This data set was generated by downscaling income data available for more than 120,000 administrative units. Our learning framework showed high accuracy levels, and performed better or equally than other existing approaches used in the literature for downscaling income. It also yielded better results for the estimation of spatial inequality within administrative units. Using SHAP values, we explored the contribution of the model predictors to income predictions and found that, in addition to geographic predictors, distance to public transport or nighttime light intensity were key drivers of income predictions. More broadly, this data set offers an opportunity to explore the relationships between economic inequality and environmental degradation in health, adaptation or urban planning sectors. It can also facilitate the development of future income maps that align with the Shared Socioeconomic Pathways, and ultimately enable the assessment of future climate risks.

ABSTRACT Background and Aims This study aimed to compare neurological soft signs (NSSs) in type 1 bipolar disorder (BD), bipolar spectrum (BS) patients, and their unaffected first‐degree relatives. Methods This descriptive cross‐sectional study involved participants referred to the Psychiatric Department of Imam Hossein Hospital. Abstract Background Paediatric sarcomas, including rhabdomyosarcoma, Ewing sarcoma and osteosarcoma, represent a group of malignancies that significantly contribute to cancer‐related morbidity and mortality in children and young adults. These cancers share common challenges, including high rates of metastasis, recurrence or treatment resistance, leading to a 5‐year survival rate of approximately 20% for patients with advanced disease stages. Despite the critical need, therapeutic advancements have been limited over the past three decades. The advent of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)‐based immunotherapies offers a promising avenue for novel treatments. However, CAR‐T cells have faced significant challenges and limited success in treating solid tumours due to issues such as poor tumour infiltration, immunosuppressive tumour microenvironments and off‐target effects. In contrast, the adaptation of CAR technology for natural killer (NK) cells has demonstrated potential in both haematological and solid tumours, suggesting a new therapeutic strategy for paediatric sarcomas. Methods This study developed and validated a novel CAR‐NK cell therapy targeting the ephrin type‐A receptor‐2 (EphA2) antigen, which is highly expressed in various paediatric sarcomas. Results CAR expression was successfully detected on the surface of NK cells post‐electroporation, indicating successful transfection. Significantly, EphA2‐specific CAR‐NK cells demonstrated enhanced cytotoxic activity against several paediatric sarcoma cell lines in vitro, including those of rhabdomyosarcoma, Ewing sarcoma and osteosarcoma, compared to unmodified NK cells. Transient messenger RNA (mRNA) transfection of NK cells is a safe approach in genetic engineering, with further chemical modifications to mRNA enhancing stability of temporal EphA2‐CAR expression in NK cells, thereby promoting prolonged protein expression. Additionally, in vivo EphA2‐CAR‐NK cells showed promising anti‐cancer activity in rhabdomyosarcoma and osteosarcoma mouse models. Conclusions The study provides a foundational basis for the clinical evaluation of EphA2‐targeted CAR‐NK cell therapy across a spectrum of paediatric sarcomas. The enhanced anti‐tumour effects observed in vitro/vivo suggests potential for improved therapeutic outcomes in hard‐to‐cure paediatric sarcomas. EphA2‐specific CAR‐NK cells exhibit superior cytotoxicity against sarcoma cell lines in vitro and demonstrate significant anti‐tumour activity in in vivo mouse models of rhabdomyosarcoma and osteosarcoma. Clinical translation potential. The findings establish a strong preclinical rationale for the clinical evaluation of EphA2‐targeted CAR‐NK therapy as a novel immunotherapeutic option for paediatric sarcomas. Future research directions: Combining EphA2‐CAR NK cells with immune checkpoint inhibitors or other immunomodulatory agents could further enhance therapeutic outcomes and durability. Advanced preclinical models mimicking human tumour microenvironments are needed to refine and optimise this therapeutic approach.

ABSTRACT This meta‐analysis aimed to evaluate the effects of amino acid supplementation on the growth performance of broiler chicks challenged with coccidiosis. Data were collected on authorship, publication year, study sample characteristics and outcomes of interest related to growth performance. Effect sizes were calculated for both overall effects and the individual effects of each amino acid. The effects of moderator factors, such as supplementation levels and duration, were also assessed, and bias was calculated. Works were obtained from PubMed, Elsevier, ScienceDirect, Wiley, Springer Link and Scopus databases, with the help of search engines like Google Scholar and ResearchGate, covering the period from 2013 to 2023. A random‐effects model was used. Thirteen works were included in the current analysis, examining the effects of arginine (n = 4), methionine (n = 6), threonine (n = 3) and glutamine (n = 3). Amino acid supplementation [0.326, CI 95% (0.297–0.355); p = 0.000], arginine [0.430, CI 95% (0.293–0.568); p = 0.000] and threonine [0.793, CI 95% (0.193–1.38); p = 0.009] significantly increased body weight. Amino acid supplementation [0.052, CI 95% (0.022–0.081); p = 0.000] and arginine [0.317, CI 95% (0.049–0.585); p = 0.000] also significantly increased feed intake. Higher levels of amino acids (≥1.50%) and longer supplementation periods (≥15 days) significantly increased body weight and feed intake, while reducing the feed conversion ratio. Funnel plots, fail‐safe N and Egger tests showed no evidence of bias. In conclusion, arginine supplementation has the potential to increase body weight and feed intake in poultry challenged with coccidiosis. Higher doses of amino acids and longer supplementation periods are recommended in such cases.

Tobacco, being a globally cultivated crop, holds significant social and economic importance. Tobacco plants are susceptible to the adverse effects of heavy metals (HMs), particularly cadmium (Cd), which hinders root development, disrupts water balance, and impedes nutrient absorption. Higher concentrations of HMs, especially Cd, naturally accumulate in tobacco leaves due to complex interactions within the plant–soil continuum. The uptake of Cd by plants from the soil is influenced by several factors, including soil type, pH, irrigation water quality, and the chemical composition of the metal involved. Different techniques, such as bioremediation, phytoremediation, and mycoremediation, have been employed to tackle the issue of HMs. The use of biochar offers a practical solution to mitigate this problem. With its large surface area and porous nature, biochar can effectively alleviate HMs contamination. Under biochar application, metal adsorption primarily occurs through physical adsorption, where metal ions are trapped within the pores of the biochar. Additionally, electrostatic attraction, in which negatively charged biochar surfaces attract positively charged metal ions, is another major mechanism of metal remediation facilitated by biochar. In this review, we documented, compiled, and interpreted novel and recent information on HMs stress on tobacco plants and explored biochar’s role in alleviating HMs toxicity. By providing a comprehensive review of the persistent threat posed by Cd to tobacco crops and exploring biochar’s potential as a remediation measure, this work aims to enhance our understanding of HMs stress in tobacco and contribute to the development of sustainable agricultural practices.

ABSTRACT Osteoma is the most common mesenchymal tumor. Recognizing their characteristic radiographic features is crucial for early diagnosis, prompt treatment, and patient follow‐up, preventing complications. This case report describes a patient with an incidentally detected osteoma of the frontal sinus found during unrelated imaging examinations.

ABSTRACT Introduction Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic disorder affecting the oral mucosa, potentially associated with xerostomia, either independently or concurrently. Research suggests that approximately 45% of patients with erythematous and ulcerative OLP may experience dry mouth sensations. The aim of this systematic review is to assess the current literature regarding the potential relationship or co‐occurrence of xerostomia with OLP. Understanding this association is imperative for the development of comprehensive management strategies and the improvement of patient outcomes. Method and Material The study followed the PRISMA 2020 checklist and included human studies, specifically investigating xerostomia in patients with OLP. After screening 897 articles, 9 studies were selected based on predefined criteria Quality assessment was conducted using the Cochrane risk of bias tools: ROB 2 for RCTs and ROBINS‐I for non‐randomized studies Scale was conducted to evaluate potential biases in study design, selection, and outcomes. Result A systematic review of nine studies (1960–2023) examining xerostomia in OLP patients found a significant reduction in unstimulated salivary flow rates in many cases. Although evidence links xerostomia with OLP, a definitive causal relationship remains unestablished. Some studies highlighted Candida infection, altered saliva protein expression, and inflammation‐related nerve damage as contributing factors to dry mouth in OLP patients. Discussion and Conclusion This systematic review examines the potential relationship between OLP and xerostomia, focusing on factors such as salivary flow, histopathological changes, and immune‐related mechanisms. While some studies suggest a link between OLP and reduced saliva production, no definitive causal relationship has been established. The review identified significant research gaps, including inconsistent methodologies and a lack of standardized criteria. Future studies should explore different OLP forms, receptor interactions, immune responses, and neuropeptides to gain a better understanding of xerostomia's etiopathogenesis and improve management strategies for OLP patients.

Abstract Background and Aim The treatment for Helicobacter pylori is considered to be a combination of several strict regimens, with patients' dissatisfaction and poor compliance. Probiotics are effective in patients' antibiotic regimens. This study investigated the efficacy of the Pyloshot probiotic in combination with standard four‐drug therapy in patients with H. pylori infection. Methods This is an interventional study. The study population consisted of patients with H. pylori infection who were selected using the convenience sampling method and were randomly divided into two groups: (i) A or standard four‐drug therapy (amoxicillin‐clarithromycin‐bismuth‐pantoprazole) plus two placebo capsules (80 cases). (ii) B or Pyloshot group (standard four‐drug therapy plus 2 Pyloshot probiotic capsules) (90 cases). Patients were followed up for 1 month after treatment completion. Eradication of H. pylori was also assessed using the stool antigen test. Data were analyzed using SPSS (v.26) statistical software. Results Based on the results from the present study, the number of negative stool antigen tests in group A was less than that in group B, and no statistically significant relationship was found between H. pylori eradication (based on stool antigen test) and the studied groups (P = 0.20). There was a statistically significant relationship between vomiting (P = 0.03), diarrhea (P = 0.04), constipation (P = 0.01), and headache (P = 0.04); vomiting and constipation were most frequent in the control group. Conclusion Based on the results of the present study, there was no significant difference between the effectiveness of treatment with Pyloshot probiotic and the standard four‐drug therapy in patients with H. pylori infection. However, the incidence of side effects was lower in the group treated with Pyloshot.

ABSTRACT Objective This study investigated the effects of adding tricalcium silicate nanoparticles (TCSNp) to the universal G2 bond adhesive (G2BU) in self‐etch (SE) mode on shear bond strength (SBS) to orthodontic brackets, cytotoxicity, and degree of conversion (DC). Material and Methods A total of 176 human teeth were divided into four groups based on TCSNp concentration in G2BU adhesive: 0% (control), 1%, 3%, and 5%. The G2BU adhesive consists of a hydrophilic primer (P) and a hydrophobic bonding agent (2B). TCSNp were added to the 2B component by mixing 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 g of TCSNp with 9.9, 9.7, and 9.5 g of 2B, respectively. SBS was assessed after 24 h of water storage and 5000 thermocycles using a universal testing machine. Abstract A bottleneck in the development of new anti‐cancer drugs is the recognition of their mode of action (MoA). Metabolomics combined with machine learning allowed to predict MoAs of novel anti‐proliferative drug candidates, focusing on human prostate cancer cells (PC‐3). As proof of concept, 38 drugs are studied with known effects on 16 key processes of cancer metabolism, profiling low molecular weight intermediates of the central carbon and cellular energy metabolism (CCEM) by LC‐MS/MS. These metabolic patterns unveiled distinct MoAs, enabling accurate MoA predictions for novel agents by machine learning. The transferability of MoA predictions based on PC‐3 cell treatments is validated with two other cancer cell models, i.e., breast cancer and Ewing's sarcoma, and show that correct MoA predictions for alternative cancer cells are possible, but still at some expense of prediction quality. Furthermore, metabolic profiles of treated cells yield insights into intracellular processes, exemplified for drugs inducing different types of mitochondrial dysfunction. Specifically, it is predicted that pentacyclic triterpenes inhibit oxidative phosphorylation and affect phospholipid biosynthesis, as confirmed by respiration parameters, lipidomics, and molecular docking. Using biochemical insights from individual drug treatments, this approach offers new opportunities, including the optimization of combinatorial drug applications.

ABSTRACT Objective The size of unruptured intracranial aneurysms (UIA) remains the most crucial risk factor for treatment decisions. On the other side, there is a non‐negligible portion of small ruptured IA and large stable UIA. This study aimed to identify the patients' characteristics related to IA size in the context of IA rupture status. Methods A total of 2152 patients, with 1002 being hospitalized for an acute aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), were included from our institutional IA database. Different demographic and clinical characteristics of patients and IA were collected. IA size was the study endpoint, assessed as continuous variable in univariate and multivariable linear regression analysis, separately for ruptured (R) IA and UIA. ABSTRACT Aim The present study was conducted to determine the effect of the superficial heat–cold application on the sleep quality of patients with restless leg syndrome. Design This study was a systematic review and meta‐analysis. Methods In the present study, the electronic databases Scopus, ProQuest, Web of Science, PubMed, SID and Google Scholar were searched from their inception to September 2023. The quality of included studies was evaluated through the Cochrane Collaboration's Risk of Bias Tool, and finally, a meta‐analysis was conducted by calculating standardised mean differences (SMDs). Results The meta‐analysis results revealed that superficial heat–cold application improved sleep quality in patients with RLS (SMD = 0.685, 95% CI: 0.421–0.950). ABSTRACT Background and Aims Allergic rhinitis and asthma are two common respiratory diseases with allergic etiology in the world's population. Eosinophils and serum IgE levels have been known as inflammatory allergy markers for many years. This study aimed to evaluate the correlation of nasal and blood eosinophils with serum IgE levels in allergic rhinitis and asthma patients. Methods This prospective study was done on patients (n = 78) diagnosed with asthma (n = 20), allergic rhinitis (n = 49), and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis (CRSwNP) (n = 9) at our hospital in Ahvaz City, Iran. The age of participants in our study ranged from 3 to 73 years, and all of them were subjected to a complete blood count (CBC) test, nasal smear, and determination of serum IgE levels after their consent. Results There was no correlation between serum IgE level and nasal eosinophil count (p = 0.728) or between serum IgE level and blood eosinophil count (p = 0.657); however, a positive correlation was detected between blood and nasal eosinophil levels (p = 0.003). Conclusion There is no significant relationship between serum IgE level and eosinophil count in the blood and nasal secretions. Serum IgE level and blood or nasal eosinophil count are both useful biomarkers for monitoring allergic rhinitis and asthma individually, but no diagnostic conclusion can be drawn from their correlation.

ABSTRACT Background and Aims Given the importance of social determinants on health outcomes, training medical sciences students in addressing social determinants of health can enhance their effectiveness and social accountability. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of an educational program on the knowledge and attitude of medical sciences students regarding social determinants of health. Methods Using a one‐group pretest‐posttest quasi‐experimental design, this study selected 200 students from a medical university in Iran through simple random sampling. A tailored educational intervention, grounded in the conceptual framework for action on social determinants of health, was implemented. To assess the program's effect, data were collected using a validated questionnaire that measured the students' knowledge and attitudes towards social determinants of health both at baseline (pretest) and 1 month following the intervention (posttest). Results The application of the Wilcoxon Signed‐Ranks Test revealed a significant increase in the median scores for knowledge and attitude postintervention. ABSTRACT Background and Aims This investigation aims to conduct a comprehensive review of educational interventions targeting stroke prevention to provide effective preventive measures and optimize resource utilization in adults and the elderly populations. Methods A comprehensive literature search was conducted on PubMed, SCOPUS, and Embase for articles published online or in print until February 22, 2022. Inclusion criteria for studies were limited to the studies that examined stroke education or training interventions aimed at improving knowledge among adults aged 30 years and above, with a particular focus on older adults. Results A review of 97,848 papers was conducted, resulting in the inclusion of 19 papers. Of these, six were randomized controlled trials (RCTs), six were non‐randomized studies, five were campaign studies, one was a cross‐sectional study, one was a pilot study, and one was a prospective study. The provided information describes various interventions and educational programs related to stroke awareness, prevention, and management. The intervention subjects were categorized as awareness of warning signs and symptoms of stroke (n = 14), comprehensive awareness campaigns (n = 5), multilevel strategies for stroke education (n = 4), community‐based nursing education and rehabilitation program (n = 5), multimedia campaign for 9‐1‐1 awareness (n = 3), and self‐management interventions (n = 1). Conclusion The categorized interventions, addressing awareness of warning signs and symptoms, comprehensive awareness campaigns, multilevel strategies, community‐based nursing education and rehabilitation programs, multimedia campaigns for 9‐1‐1 awareness, and self‐management interventions, collectively enrich our understanding of the multifaceted approaches to stroke education.

Abstract Synchronous reluctance motor has recently attracted the attention of researchers due to their characteristics such as higher efficiency compared to induction motors, lower cost in contrast to permanent magnet motors, robust rotor structure and limited rotor inertia. Also, research on five‐phase motors, which have more reliability and torque density than three‐phase motors, is of a great importance. In this essay, the optimization of the robust design of a five‐phase reluctance synchronous motor has been done through the design of experiments using the sequential Taguchi method based on fuzzy logic. To ensure that the performance of the motor is not sensitive to changes and uncertainties, the air gap manufacturing tolerances, the width of the rotor's tangential rib and the rotor's pitch control angle are considered as noise factors. In addition, to improve the motor's fault tolerance capacity, the main performance characteristics of the motor under single‐phase fault operation, such as average torque and ripple torque are considered as optimization targets, along with the main performance characteristics of the motor under normal operation. By comparing the optimization results of the proposed method with the conventional Taguchi optimization method, the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method have been confirmed.

ABSTRACT A 4‐year‐old white male DSH cat was presented to the Veterinary Hospital on 18 December 2023, with a history of lethargy, loss of appetite, and salivation. During the inspection of the oral cavity, unilateral swelling was observed on the ventral side of the jaw. Before any therapeutic intervention, a cell blood count (CBC) test and FNA cytology were conducted. A five‐day course of adjunctive treatment, including ceftriaxone (5.5 mg/kg via IV) and clindamycin (25 mg/kg via IV), was given due to a suspicion of infection. Pantoprazole, metoclopramide (administered at 1 mg/kg via IV and IM), and duphalyte 500 mL (10 mL/kg IV) were used concurrently to alleviate nausea and stimulate appetite. Following a lack of improvement, a radical excision procedure was performed on tooth number 304 after the 5‐day treatment to excise the mass for histopathology and immunohistochemical analysis. The observation of mitotic bodies, pleomorphism, necrosis, and haemorrhage were consistent with malignancy, and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) was suspected. Immunohistochemical staining was positive for the vimentin marker, the S‐100 protein, and desmin. This report describes a rare case of oral fibrosarcoma in a DSH cat in Iran.

ABSTRACT Background Liver flukes from the genus Fasciola are the causative agents for human and livestock fascioliasis. Accurate identification of Fasciola spp. is essential to understanding the epidemiology of fascioliasis. This study aimed to determine the morphometric and molecular characterization of Fasciola spp. in livestock from Northwestern provinces of Iran. Methods Five hundred adult Fasciola flukes were obtained from different definitive hosts (cattle, sheep, goats, and buffaloes) in four local abattoirs in the northwestern provinces of Iran (West‐Azerbaijan, East‐Azerbaijan, Ardabil, and Zanjan) from September 2021 to August 2022. All samples were examined by morphometric criteria; then, 49 samples were identified using PCR‐RFLP based on ITS1 region and 23 sequence of isolates analyzed by cox1 marker. PCR‐RFLP methods compared morphometric results, and cox1 gene sequences were used to confirm PCR‐RFLP results and phylogenetic analysis. Results The differences between the body length, body width, cephalic cone length, cephalic cone width, body area, and distance between the ventral sucker and posterior end of the body in two species were significant (p < 0.05). Based on the morphometric criteria, 139 samples (27.8%) were identified as Fasciola gigantica and 361 (72.2%) as Fasciola hepatica. Similarly, PCR‐RFLP analysis of ITS1 region confirmed morphometric results. No hybrid forms of Fasciola were detected. Partial sequences of cox1 showed 13 variable sites with eight haplotypes in F. hepatica and 12 variable sites with five haplotypes in F. gigantica. Conclusion Based on the results of this study, the PCR‐RFLP method can be used to confirm the morphological method of Fasciola species, but it is insufficient to study their genetic diversity. Also, sequences of cox1 results of the present study showed that F. hepatica and F. gigantica species in the Northern provinces of Iran have different genetic structures and haplotypes.

In this paper, reduced graphene oxide decorated with silver nanoparticle (rGO-Ag) nanohybrids were prepared using an environmentally friendly approach and incorporated as reinforcement in poly(vinylidene fluoride)-poly(methyl methacrylate) blends via a melt mixing process. The microstructure of rGO-Ag nanohybrids and its effect on the microstructure, mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties of the PVDF/PMM/rGO-Ag was studied using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), tensile, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and impedance spectroscopy methods. FTIR and TEM analysis confirmed that rGO-Ag successfully synthesized and Ag nanoparticles are located on the rGO surface. The tensile analysis demonstrated that incorporating 1 wt.% of rGO-Ag in PVDF/PMMA blend increases Young’s modulus and strength of nanocomposite up to 31% and 35%, respectively. The Halpin-Tsai model was also used for PVDF/PMMA/rGO-Ag nanocomposites, and the results confirmed that this model works well to predict the tensile modulus. Impedance spectroscopy analysis showed that the presence of rGO-Ag nanohybrids in PVDF/PMMA blend effectively enhanced the conductivity of PVDF/PMMA blend. TGA results demonstrated that the presence of rGO-Ag nanohybrids enhanced the thermal stability of nanocomposites and increased the degradation temperature of PVDF/PMMA/rGO-Ag nanocomposites in the range of 20°C compared to PVDF/PMMA blend.

Abstract In the present study, the economic model predictive control (EMPC) scheme is presented for the time of use tariff application of photovoltaic and diesel generator backup system, which is connected to the grid‐connected microgrid. Through the use of the closed‐loop control system, the prior open‐loop optimal control is enhanced. Minimizing the grid energy and fuel costs by evaluating the fuel level restrictions in the diesel tank is the main goal of this study. To accommodate the restrictions among controllable variables, this control method fulfils the load requirements. To gain the benefits of feedback and predictions, optimal power scheduling is modelled as a control problem. Furthermore, Blockchain technology is applied to secure interchanged information in the grid to avoid manipulating data by attackers. Specifically, the analysis is divided into two scenarios. The first one takes place in the alternative style when a blackout happens between [7 am and 6 pm] h and the other occurs in a grid energy mode when the network is available over 24 h. Energy performance, cost savings, and daily revenue have all been improved by EMPC. As a result, the daily energy savings are up to 52%, whereas diesel energy does not go over 85%.

Abstract Hyperlysinemia is a rare autosomal recessive deficiency of 2‐aminoadipic semialdehyde synthase (AASS) affecting the initial step in lysine degradation. It is thought to be a benign biochemical abnormality, but reports on cases remain scarce. The description of additional cases, in particular, those identified without ascertainment bias, may help counseling of new cases in the future. It may also help to establish the risks associated with pharmacological inhibition of AASS, a potential therapeutic strategy that is under investigation for other inborn errors of lysine degradation. We describe the identification of a hyperlysinemia case identified in the Provincial Neonatal Urine Screening Program in Sherbrooke, Quebec. This case presented with a profile of cystinuria but with a very high increase in urinary lysine. A diagnosis of hyperlysinemia was confirmed through biochemical testing and the identification of biallelic variants in AASS. The p.R146W and p.T371I variants are novel and affect the folding of the lysine‐2‐oxoglutarate domain of AASS. The 11‐month‐old boy is currently doing well without any therapeutic interventions. The identification of this case through newborn urine screening further establishes that hyperlysinemia is a biochemical abnormality with limited clinical consequences and may not require any intervention.

Abstract Radio‐Frequency Identification and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are two basic pillars in the Internet of Things (IOT); they are used to identify and track objects, and collect information from the environment in various applications of the IOT. One of the architectures used for combining these two technologies is the combination of readers with wireless sensor nodes. In the combination of Radio‐Frequency Identification and WSN, we face issues concerning reader collision, tag rereading and load imbalance. In the dense environments of this hybrid network, due to congestion and the possible mobility of nodes, controlling access to the shared channel is one of the basic challenges. In addition, owing to the energy limitations of these networks, data redundancy and tag re‐reading are critical issues. An effective anti‐collision protocol suitable for RFID‐WSN networks is proposed to avoid the above‐mentioned issues. The Energy‐saving and Anti‐collision Protocol (EAP) method is a CSMA‐based multi‐channel protocol that not only solves the issue of readback collisions, but also, through tagging, it prevents the rereading of the tags. To evaluate the performance of the EAP method, this protocol is compared with the most prominent reader anti‐collision protocols ever presented. The results indicate that due to the better throughput and higher energy efficiency that the proposed protocol has, when compared to other multi‐channel protocols, it will be a better option for use in the IOT platform with dense conditions.

Abstract Nowadays, researchers are studying the energy discharging of electric vehicles (EVs) in charging stations. Furthermore, these stations can help maintain the balance of electric energy and reduce costs in the energy hub in the discharging mode. In this regard, this article proposes a probability and possibility approach by the Z‐number method to investigate the uncertainty of the EV owners’ behaviour at charging stations during the discharge of electric energy to the energy hub. Also, here, the uncertainty of electric energy demand, thermal energy, drinking water, and the price of electric energy, thermal energy, drinking water, and electric energy production from a solar power plant has been done by the scenario‐base method. The seawater desalination unit has been modelled to meet the drinking water needs. To check the final results of the proposed method, the mixed integer linear programming (MILP) model has been selected for energy management in the energy hub in the CPLEX optimization solver. The final results show that modelling the behaviour of EV owners in the charging stations using the Z‐number method leads to reduced consumption of some energy carriers in comparison with the fuzzy method in the proposed energy hub.

Abstract This paper proposes an economical reliability‐oriented solution to determine the optimal number of cascade cells and redundancies for STATCOM using a Non‐Dominated Sorting Genetic (NSGA‐II) algorithm based on different redundancy configuration schemes. A multi‐objective optimization framework is presented, to minimize the total cost and maximize its reliability index by considering power quality issues. In the presented model, a new cost modelling is introduced considering the cost of inductor loss. The multilevel cascade topology with staircase modulation strategy is also taken into account. The effectiveness of the proposed optimization framework is validated by the NSGA‐II algorithm compared to the results of goal attainment and goal programming as decomposition single‐objective optimization methods. The results verify that the proposed multi‐objective optimization framework could be useful in the optimal selection of high‐voltage STATCOM levels in the presence of redundancies while ensuring the required level of reliability at the minimum cost. Also, the presented NSGA‐II optimization algorithm is applicable to maintain both objective functions at an acceptable value.

Abstract The presence of smart buildings in a smart grid as prosumers with the ability to both consume and produce clean energy can help to decentralize and decarbonize the electricity industry. An energy community (EC) refers to a collection of energy users and energy sources that participate in peer‐to‐peer (P2P) energy trading and contribute to the energy supply of the community through appropriate communication infrastructure. This paper examines the management of smart grid energy, including ECs, in order to promote energy democracy by incorporating smart buildings into P2P energy trading and demand response programs (DRPs). A model for energy democracy has been developed for a group of energy users consisting of prosumers and managers within ECs, based on user preferences. The paper classifies prosumers into three categories based on their preferences: flexible, economic, and social. Additionally, EC managers have been classified into two categories based on their preferences: interactive and non‐interactive managers. The CPLEX method in the GAMS software was utilized to solve the problem. The results show that the proposed approach improves access to energy within the smart grid system.

Abstract The current study presents research investigations and developments related to the homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) engine. Research investigations and recent advances, including the role of various operating conditions on HCCI engine combustion phenomena, emissions, and performance, are discussed. There is growing research interest in investigating HCCI engines with diesel fuel to study combustion, emissions, and performance characteristics due to their association with low NOx emissions. In the published literature, research investigations are also conducted with different fuels ranging from biomass to diesel to gasoline in the HCCI engine showing its capability for utilizing various fuels in coming years. The challenges associated with HCCI combustion are reviewed, and the details of excessive carbon monoxide and unburnt hydrocarbon emissions are discussed. The major parameters affecting the hydrogen addition in HCCI diesel engines are also discussed. Overall, adding hydrogen to a diesel‐fueled HCCI engine improves combustion phasing and can potentially increase thermal efficiency while lowering emissions. In addition, the strength, weaknesses, opportunities, and threat analysis is provided and discussed thoroughly.

Abstract The incidence of early‐onset colorectal cancer (CRC), which affects people under 50, is increasing for unknown reasons. Additionally, no underlying genetic cause is found in 20%–30% of patients suspected of having familial CRC syndrome. Whole exome sequencing (WES) has generated evidence for new genes associated with CRC susceptibility, but many patients remain undiagnosed. This study applied WES in five early‐onset CRC patients from three unrelated families to identify novel genetic variants that could be linked to rapid disease development. Furthermore, the candidate variants were validated using Sanger sequencing. Two heterozygote variations, c.1077‐2A>G and c.199G>A, were found in the MSH2 and the MLH1 genes, respectively. Sanger sequencing analysis confirmed that these (likely) pathogenic mutations segregated in all the affected families' members. In addition, we identified a rare heterozygote variant (c.175C>T) with suspected pathogenic potential in the MAP3K1 gene; formally the variant is of uncertain significance (VUS). Our findings support the hypothesis that CRC onset may be oligogenic and molecularly heterogeneous. Larger and more robust studies are needed to understand the genetic basis of early‐onset CRC development, combined with novel functional analyses and omics approaches.

Abstract Deep Learning (DL) is a subfield of machine learning that significantly impacts extracting new knowledge. By using DL, the extraction of advanced data representations and knowledge can be made possible. Highly effective DL techniques help to find more hidden knowledge. Deep learning has a promising future due to its great performance and accuracy. We need to understand the fundamentals and the state‐of‐the‐art of DL to leverage it effectively. A survey on DL ways, advantages, drawbacks, architectures, and methods to have a straightforward and clear understanding of it from different views is explained in the paper. Moreover, the existing related methods are compared with each other, and the application of DL is described in some applications, such as medical image analysis, handwriting recognition, and so on.

Abstract Background Trichobilharzia regenti (T. regenti) is an avian schistosomatid fluke species that causes human cercarial dermatitis (HCD) in areas of aquaculture in northern Iran. Understanding the phylogenetic relationships and genetic diversity of this thread‐like fluke will deepen our thoughtful of avian schistosomiasis epidemiology and lead to more effective HCD control in the region. Objectives To determine the life cycle of nasal Trichobilharzia in aquatic birds as well as aquatic snails and also identify the haplotype diversity of the isolates in Mazandaran Province, northern Iran. Methods In the present study, adult or egg of Trichobilharzia isolated from aquatic birds as well as schistosomes cercariae isolated from aquatic snails in Mazandaran Province, northern Iran, belonged to the authors' previous research, were examined. Molecular studies and phylogenetic analysis were carried out on these schistosomes samples. Results The phylogenetic analysis of the ITS1 and COX1 genes in isolated schistosomes revealed that all samples belong to the T. regenti clade. Remarkably, based on phylogenetic results, these schistosomes samples from Anas platyrhynchos domesticus, A. platyrhynchos, Spatula clypeata and Lymnaea stagnalis grouped together with previously sequenced samples from Iran (Trichobilharzia cf. regenti). Unlike the phylogenetic tree and haplotype network of COX1 gene, ITS1 did not show distinct clusters. Conclusion This study completed the puzzle of the disease in Mazandaran Province by isolating and genotyping furkocercariae from L. stagnalis that was consistent with the isolated new genotype from ducks. For the first time in Iran, this confirmed the potential role of L. stagnalis snails in the transmission of the disease.

Abstract Composite hydrogels with excellent properties can open new opportunities to terminate the need for auto/allografts in bone augmentations. However, their clinical application has been limited by their insufficient mechanical strength and lack of osteoinductivity. Here we report a new strategy to design an injectable bioactive double network hydrogel reinforced by inorganic calcium/magnesium phosphate cement (CMPC) hydrates to meet the mechanical performance requirements for bone regeneration. The engineered CMPC hydration endows the composite hydrogel with an appropriate gelation time and temperature for injection, which shows no harm in the defect site. CMPC hydrates could also provide a lower swelling ratio and higher biodegradation rate fitting the in vivo bone regeneration needs. In vitro and in vivo experiments prove that the ions released from inorganic particles endow biocompatibility, cell migration, adhesion, differentiation, and significantly higher bone regeneration capacity. Taken together, the simple addition of CMPC particles imparts in‐demand features that bring us closer to the clinical utilization of hydrogel‐based materials for bone regeneration.

Abstract Aims/Introduction Although the association between uric acid levels and adverse pregnancy outcomes has been investigated, the effects of higher uric acid levels on the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) have yet to be established. Therefore, this systematic review and meta‐analysis aimed to investigate the relationship between uric acid levels during pregnancy and the risk of GDM. Materials and Methods PubMed/Medline, Scopus and Web of Science databases were searched up to April 2022 for relevant observational studies. A random effects model was used to estimate pooled odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CI). To assess the heterogeneity of included studies, the I2 index was used. Results Among the initial 262 studies that were recognized from the databases search, 23 studies including 105,380 participants were eligible. Abstract Aims Investigating post‐traumatic growth (PTG) in mothers with the experience of having a preterm newborn hospitalized in the NICU requires a valid tool. This study aims to determine the validity and reliability of the Farsi version of the post‐traumatic growth inventory (PTGI) in mothers with the experience of having their newborns hospitalized in the NICU. Design This study was methodological research. Methods In this study, 250 mothers who had newborns with a history of NICU hospitalization during the last 3 to 12 months and had visited paediatric clinics of the selected hospitals in Tehran with the aim of having their children's condition examined were selected through convenience sampling. The data were collected using a demographic information questionnaire and PTGI. The face validity, the construct validity (confirmatory factor analysis), and the internal consistency reliability of the inventory were measured using SPSS V22 and LISREL V8.8. Results According to appropriate values for factor analysis fit indices (FI = 0.94, RMSEA = 0.07, IFI = 0.94, NFI = 0.93, RFI = 0.91, NNFI = 0.93, SRMR = 0.07), 21 items and 5 factors were confirmed for this inventory. Furthermore, Cronbach's alpha coefficient of this inventory was measured as α = 0.94. Conclusion According to favourable psychometric properties, the Farsi version of PTGI is a suitable tool for studying PTG in mothers with the experience of having preterm newborns in the NICU. Using PTGI can help nurses in planning family‐centered care interventions to reduce the impact of the mental trauma caused by the preterm newborn's hospitalization in parents. Abstract Owing to increased energy demand, renewable energy sources have recently reached greater heights in the power industry. In this regard, integrating renewable energy with the power grid system has become essential in meeting consumer's energy demands. The novelty in this article is the design of an advanced Aalborg inverter with a reduced number of switches which results in enhanced system performance by reducing the switching losses. Integrating renewable energy sources with the power grid network has gained massive importance in supplying electric power to consumers. Integrating the power grid with renewable energy has become possible with the implementation of grid tie inverters. The only drawback in implementing renewable energy sources with the power grid is that the output of the resources varies from time to time in nature. Voltage Source Inverter‐based grid system requires two or three‐stage inverters for interfacing power units to transfer DC energy into the power grid network. To reduce the switching frequency across the system, many new excellent inverters have been designed to ensure the healthy operation of the system operating at a higher frequency. This article has been coined with the investigation of a novel buck and boosts converter‐based inverter operation named Aalborg inverter. The inverter operates at a higher frequency and minimum voltage drop across the inductor, where only one power stage has been implied to enhance the system's reliability and efficiency. This novel Aalborg inverter is applied and investigated for photovoltaic application.

Abstract Induction motors, particularly single‐phase induction motors (SPIMs), represent the major consumption of power in the household sector. SPIMs that fail during their life cycle represent the best opportunity to improve their efficiency by replacing or repairing them. Although replacing faulty motors with new and efficient ones results in significant energy savings, this replacement is uneconomical due to its high initial costs. Additionally, this option requires extensive energy and materials to manufacture, resulting in a considerable environmental impact. This article aims to introduce a three‐phase rewinding of a failed SPIM using a rewinding algorithm that significantly improves the machine's efficiency and performance in an economically viable way. The 0.75 HP single‐phase capacitor‐start induction motor has been rewound to convert it into a three‐phase motor with the required 110 V line voltage and 50 Hz frequency. The economic analysis implies that the rewound machine's life‐cycle cost is 6% and 18% lower than the purchased SPIM IE1 and existing SPIM by below efficiency class respectively. The rewound motor achieves a payback period of 1–1.6 years for different motor loading levels, based on the world average electricity price, indicating an economically viable solution.

Abstract Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and its associated complications have become a crucial public health concern in the world. According to the literature, chronic inflammation and the progression of T2DM have a close relationship. Accumulated evidence suggests that inflammation enhances the insulin secretion lost by islets of Langerhans and the resistance of target tissues to insulin action, which are two critical features in T2DM development. Based on recently highlighted research that plasma concentration of inflammatory mediators such as tumor necrosis factor α and interleukin‐6 are elevated in insulin‐resistant and T2DM, and it raises novel question marks about the processes causing inflammation in both situations. Over the past few decades, microRNAs (miRNAs), a class of short, noncoding RNA molecules, have been discovered to be involved in the regulation of inflammation, insulin resistance, and T2DM pathology. These noncoding RNAs are specifically comprised of RNA‐induced silencing complexes and regulate the expression of specific protein‐coding genes through various mechanisms. There is extending evidence that describes the expression profile of a special class of miRNA molecules altered during T2DM development. These modifications can be observed as potential biomarkers for the diagnosis of T2DM and related diseases. In this review study, after reviewing the possible mechanisms involved in T2DM pathophysiology, we update recent information on the miRNA roles in T2DM, inflammation, and insulin resistance.

Abstract Objectives The relationship between personality traits and psychological distress with acoustic characteristics was investigated in the present study, regarding the existence of dysphonia, abnormal overall voice quality (AOVQ), and dysphonia type. Methods Fifty‐five participants with dysphonia and 64 participants without dysphonia completed NEO Five‐Factor Inventory and Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale‐21. Jitter, shimmer, noise‐to‐harmonic ratio (NHR), cepstral peak prominence (CPP), and cepstral peak prominence‐smoothed (CPPS) were calculated in sustained vowel /a/ by Praat. Three expert speech and language pathologists divided participants with dysphonia into mild, moderate, and severe, based on the AOVQ. Pearson and Spearman correlation tests were performed by IBM SPSS Statistics. Results The findings were indicative of large correlations between agreeableness with CPP, conscientiousness with shimmer, depression with jitter and shimmer, and anxiety with shimmer in patients with functional dysphonia (p 0.05). Conclusion In participants with functional dysphonia, personality traits and psychological distress can provide some information about acoustic characteristics and vice versa. Level of Evidence 3.

Abstract Due to the increasing global warming, it is anticipated that the number and severity of natural disasters will increase in the coming years. In this regard, this paper proposes a planning model to improve the resilience of distribution systems against natural disasters. A mathematical model is developed to determine the optimal locations of remote‐controlled switches (RCSs), distributed generation units (DGs), and tie lines in distribution systems with complex topologies or lateral branches. Simultaneous occurrence of multiple faults is considered to better simulate the extreme events. Moreover, the concept of multi‐microgrids is used to supply the maximum possible interrupted load after the fault occurrence. To manage the system risk and different failure scenarios, the conditional value at risk (CVaR) is added to the planning model. The optimization model has been formulated as a mixed integer linear programming (MILP) problem, which can be easily solved using various commercial solvers and give the global optimal solution. Finally, to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed planning model on improving the distribution system resilience, it is implemented on the IEEE 33‐bus system using different case studies and sensitivity analyses.

Abstract Due to the advantages of micro‐grids including power losses and voltage drops reduction, reliability improvement and reduction in transmission network cost, numerous clean micro‐grids including renewable resources such as wind, tidal and solar are developed in different countries of world. The investment cost of the renewable energy‐based generation units especially tidal barrages is high, and to generate the cost‐effective electricity from the renewable resources, the optimization process should be performed. In this paper, optimal planning of a micro‐grid containing energy storage device and new mixture of renewable resources including tidal barrage and photovoltaic system is performed. For this purpose, optimal characteristics of barrage type tidal plant including number of turbines, sluices and hydro‐pumps, turbine tip and hub diameters and sluice width are determined to maximum energy of tidal plant is generated. Then, number of photovoltaic systems and batteries are obtained to supply the required load in minimum cost. To optimize the objective functions, different heuristic approaches including particle swarm, genetic and imperial competitive algorithms (ICAs) are applied, in the paper. To study the effectiveness of the proposed approach, optimal planning of a micro‐grid is performed. It is deduced from the numerical results that the particle swarm method has performed best in determining the optimal solution.

Abstract This research proposes a cost‐efficient microinverter. The proposed microinverter can eliminate the leakage current using common‐ground configuration. It uses three switches and only one of them operates at high frequency. In addition, a passive lossless snubber is applied to limit voltage stress and provide soft‐switching performance for the high‐frequency switch. A pair of coupled inductors is used to provide higher voltage gain which makes it possible to keep the operating duty cycle in the normal range and makes the proposed inverter suitable for AC module application. The input current of the proposed microinverter is continuous which reduces the loss of the input capacitor by high‐frequency current component reduction. The operating principle of the proposed inverter is described in both positive and negative current modes. In positive current mode, the proposed microinverter works similar to SEPIC converter and in negative current mode its performance is similar to CUK converter. The dynamic behavior of the proposed microinverter is analyzed through simulation and a simple PI controller is designed to accommodate the worst case. Theoretical loss analysis is applied and finally the results of this research are compared with other researches. The performance of the proposed inverter is justified by simulation and practical results of a 300‐watts prototype.

Abstract Background The beneficial effects of Bacillus subtilis on growth, immune response, and disease resistance against various diseases in different fish species have been proved. However, there are no data concerning this probiotic effect on skin mucosal immunity in fish infected with Ichthyophthirius multifiliis (Ich). Ich has a high mortality rate in both edible and ornamental fish and consequently is concerned with heavy economic losses. Objectives Thus, we assessed the efficacy of live and heat‐killed B. subtilis on skin immunity and histopathology in goldfish (Carassius auratus) infected with Ich. Methods Goldfish (144 fish, 2.38 g average weight) were stocked in nine glass tanks each in three replicates. Fish were fed 109 CFU g−1 live or heat‐killed B. subtilis for 80 days. Results Probiotic administration in both viable and non‐viable forms could enhance the growth performance in goldfish. Probiotic therapy also reduced the density of the parasite and histopathological level on skin and gill tissues of the treated fish. Real‐time polymerase chain reaction analysis showed a higher expression of lysozyme and tumour necrosis factor‐α in the treated groups compared to the control group. Conclusions These data demonstrated the beneficial effect of B. subtilis as probiotic and paraprobiotic on growth performance and disease resistance to Ich infestation in goldfish.

Abstract Network‐on‐Chip (NoC) is a key component in chip multiprocessors (CMPs) as it supports communication between many cores. NoC is a network‐based communication subsystem on an integrated circuit, most typically between modules in a system on a chip (SoC). Designing a reliable NoC against failures that can prevent failure using some measures or preventing error or system failure while failure happens and proper performance became a significant concern. For a reliable design against failures, first, the system should be analysed to discover the critical points. Hence, in this research, it is tried first to investigate the scale of fault tolerance effect on the mechanism in the router on the network by injecting simulated errors, and then these errors are prevented. As the major novelty, the authors implemented a router on a synchronised network and calculated the network buffering fault tolerance by injecting error in the buffer. Specifically, a new method for improving fault tolerance is proposed, which uses the existing resources efficiently. So, it does not impose any overhead on hardware and improves the error tolerance scale. The authors also evaluate it from different perspectives to show its superior performance.

Abstract Pichia pastoris is a commonly used microbial host for recombinant protein production. It is mostly cultivated in fed‐batch mode, in which the environment of the cell is continuously changing. Hence, it is vital to understand the influence of feeding strategy parameters on the intracellular reaction network to fine‐tune bioreactor performance. This study used dynamic flux balance analysis (DFBA) integrated with transcriptomics data to simulate the recombinant P. pastoris (Muts) growth during the induction phase for three fed‐batch strategies, conducted at constant specific growth rates (μ‐stat). The induction phase was split into equal time intervals, and the correlated reactions with protein yield were identified in the three fed‐batch strategies using the Pearson correlation coefficient. Subsequently, principal component analysis (PCA) was applied to cluster induction phase time intervals and identify the role of correlated reactions on metabolic differentiation of time intervals. It was found that increasing fluxes through the methanol dissimilation pathway increased protein yield. By adding a methanol assimilation pathway inhibitor (HgCl2) to the shake flask medium growing on glycerol: methanol mixture (10%: 90%, v/v), the protein titre increased by 60%. As per DFBA, the higher the methanol to biomass flux ratio (Rmeoh/Δx), the higher the protein yield. Finally, a novel feeding strategy was developed to increase the amount of Rmeoh/Δx compared to the three feeding strategies. The concentration of recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH), used as the model protein, increased by 16% compared to the optimal culture result obtained previously (800 mg L−1 to 928 mg L−1), while production yield improved by 85% (24.8 mg gDCW−1 to 46 mg gDCW−1).
