The article discusses the nature and scope of reading investigations presented from July 1, 1930 to June 30, 1931, with some of the more significant findings. Several approaches were observed with respect to reading achievement among elementary-school grades. These observations include free reading against intensive training, reading in the content subjects, reading and literature, reading interests and preferences, and supervisory steps to improve instruction in reading.
