The article discusses a 2010 study to determine what factors during incubation have an effect on Wood Ducks, Aix sponsa in Latin. The researchers manipulated the incubation of females to find out how nest temperature, female body mass and incubation behavior affected their reproduction. They found no relationship between how long females incubated and how much body mass they lost after, but that the earlier they incubated, the more weight they lost, while the later they incubated, the more mass they maintained after.

This article discusses a study which examined the incubation behavior of the Blood Pheasant (Ithaginis cruentus), a uniparental bird of high-elevation forests at Lianhaushan Nature Reserve in southern Gansu Province in China. Using temperature loggers to study the behavior, researchers learned that egg predation was not associated with movements of females to and from nests. They also discovered that egg temperatures dropped rapidly once females left the nest.
