The article reports on a change to the recruitment processes of the Canada Research Chairs (CRC) programme that helped reverse brain drain in the country. In 2003, a group of female professors took the CRC to the Canadian Human Rights Commission after it was found out that woman won only 14 percent of the first research grants. Nine percent of CRC award winners in 2005 identified themselves as minorities. Recipients of the awards include academic colleges and teacher-training colleges.
