Agather Atuhaire is a journalist, lawyer, human rights activist, and whistle-blower in Uganda. She has used social media activism to expose corruption and maladministration by public officials. As a co-leader of the online human rights movement AGORA, she crowdsources information on rights abuses and demands accountability from the government and civil society. Agather's activism is particularly notable in Uganda, where female human rights defenders have faced persecution. She has received recognition for her bravery, including the E.U. Human Rights Defenders Award in 2023 and the 2024 International Women of Courage Award. Her courageous actions pose a significant challenge to the impunity of public institutions and officials in Uganda. [Extracted from the article]
