This study aims to evaluate better the effectiveness of tourism collaboration and subsequently identify future research directions. Its conceptual framework for evaluating the effectiveness of stakeholder collaboration consists of four main parts: context, process, outcome and impact. The framework enables comparative analysis of collaboration across different contexts; allows individual or comparative case studies; and enables efforts to collect data on a series of indicators from many cases to test dimensions, elements and interactions. This study systematically reviews 169 studies evaluating stakeholder collaboration, including research papers, book chapters, research frontiers articles, commentaries, book reviews, issue introductions, short communications and research notes. The present article investigates Primo Levi's anthropological readings in Scientific American between the late 1960s and the early 1980s. The fundamental importance of these anthropological publications in Levi's career has long been disregarded by scholars who have studied the influence of Scientific American on the author's work predominantly with regard to scientific and technological articles. After reading Scientific American's anthropological essays and book reviews, Levi's interests soon came to include actual books on folklore and anthropological studies. The present article retraces the path of his readings and provides a series of examples from the short stories collected in Vizio di forma and Lilít, as well as from the essays of L'altrui mestiere. The results of this survey of Levi's anthropological sources also provide new insights into his creative process and lead to a rethinking of the role of ethnography in his intellectual history. The leading journals in the history of sport publish book reviews which are a longstanding and visible feature of the discipline. Indeed, some journals allocate almost as much space to reviews as to scholarly articles. In this article I analyze and evaluate the contributions that book reviews make to the production of knowledge and to building disciplinary and social cohesiveness in the field. Following Pierre Bourdieu, I argue that book reviews play important roles in communities of professional scholars and the way that members position themselves and engage with, relate to, and judge one another. I illustrate this with a case study of 271 book reviews published in Sporting Traditions (the official journal of the Australian Society for Sports History) between 1984 and 1995. The case study yields two particularly relevant conclusions. First, the level of historiographical analysis presented in book reviews is typically minimal with rigorous, detailed and perceptive analyses uncommon. Purpose:The aim of this article is to examine the development of the book review section of theJournal of Business-to-Business Marketingrelative to changes in the publication industry. Methodology/approach:The analysis compared descriptive categories and content analysis of the book reviews and book review essays across four time periods. The content analysis was conducted using Leximancer, an automatic text analytic tool that codes according to the co-occurrence of main concepts within the text. The time periods relate to the journal volumes: 1–5, 6–10, 11–15, and 16–21. These time periods were tagged within Leximancer indicating the differences and commonalities of the book review content between each time period. Findings:The results indicated that the number of book reviews has fallen over the journal’s life. The following reasons influencing the falling number of book reviews were proposed: changing promotion/tenure criteria for academics over the last 20 years, the different attitudes between academics and practitioners in relation to book content, financial pressures placed on academic publishers, and the changing proportion of the university library budget allocated to procuring books. The results also indicated that the topics covered in the book reviews have changed over the four time periods. These changes are thought to be influenced by the changing “hot topics” business marketing academics are interested in and topics preferred by book publishers. Implications:Although the publishing industry and academic reward systems continue to change, books will continue to be an important outlet for the dissemination of knowledge and academics will continue to publish books. The broader publishing environment and discipline specific trends should be considered when determining publishing approaches. Books offer an alternative avenue for reaching a broad academic audience (rather than those who only read specialized journals) and academics passionate about their research will be motivated to share with a broad audience. Writers for periodical magazines and reviews in the late Romantic period became increasingly aware of the role that such publications played in actively shaping public taste. This article turns to Blackwood's Magazine and investigates how it uses writing about food to reflect on the shaping of literary tastes. I argue that the magazine uses gastronomy both to justify its judgments of taste as naturalized, universal truths, and to reflect upon the processes of periodical production that belie such naturalness. Particularly through the logic of schooling – classifying writers into groups like the Cockney School or the less famous Leg of Mutton School – Blackwood's asserts a pre-existing, fixed standard of taste that the magazine at other moments claims to create, amend and defend against threats to its stability. Food culture's shifting significations offer means for writers to negotiate between taste as either a necessary precondition for literary production or a contingent product of those processes. This article discusses five literary reviews published in Nyonin geijutsu (Women's arts) by four leading feminist activists, Ikuta Hanayo, Yagi Akiko, Nakamoto Takako and Hirabayashi Taiko. It explores the journal's struggle to gain a foothold in the expanding market for radical mass literature and highlights some of the key debates taking place in the journal about the role of the writer and the nature of literature during the unstable interwar years. It aims to offer an insight into what the women of Nyonin geijutsu were reading, what they thought about what they read and how they thought literature should be written in order to change the world for the better. It also explores how the original pan-feminist aims of the journal started to be undermined by an increasing affiliation with the ideology of the male left, causing the journal to lose its focus on the female market and its ability to continue as a commercial venture. Publishers present novels with summaries, librarians provide subject headings, classification numbers and annotations, literary theorists write reviews. Readers share opinions and tags in social networks. These groups share interest in the same novel and possibly in the same library catalogs. I analyze the descriptions of novels written by these four groups to propose the enhancement of library catalogs. Results show that the story, information about the author, genre, personal experience with reading the novel, and an evaluation (awards, personal evaluation) are consistently presented by all four groups and should become standard elements for the subject description of fiction. Keith Jenkins is undoubtedly one of the most controversial and divisive historical theorists of the contemporary era. This article examines the reception that Jenkins's work has received from academic reviewers, in order to see how the Jenkins ‘brand’, so to speak, has been constructed over the past 20 years or so. The article studies how the reception of Jenkins's work by reviewers allowed them to continue the ‘history wars’ away from the main battleground of full-length books and journal articles. We argue that the reviews liberally blended empirical fact, interpretation and personal opinion with a series of literary flourishes. All in all, and for the most part, consumers of these reviews were cued to ‘imagine’ Jenkins as a strange combination of Darth Vader and Don Quixote; further evidence that Jenkins remains one of the most significant and misunderstood figures in historical theory today. The author of the book "Cambodia’s Neoliberal Order: Violence, Authoritarianism and the Contestation of Public Space" responds to a book review written by Ryerson Christie which appeared in the Vol. 19, No. 2 issue of "South East Asia Research." He asserts that his scholarly career has been committed to forwarding a belief in non-violence and he actively avoids being locked into an intellectual niche such as structuralism, post-structuralism, or reductionism. He allies himself with French social philosopher Michel Foucault in his belief that it is not his position to offer policy analysis or political solutions.

John Locke's earliest significant publications appeared between 1686 and 1688 in the Bibliotheque universelle et historique. They were a translation of his New Method of a Commonplace Book, an abridgment of his (as yet unpublished) Essay Concerning Human Understanding, and two reviews, of a medical work by Robert Boyle, and Isaac Newton's Principia. It is likely that he contributed some other book reviews, but these cannot now be identified. An examination of surviving copies of the Bibliotheque universelle et historique shows that it had a very complicated printing history, and both the volumes (tom. 2 and tom. 8) that certainly contain items by Locke were reprinted on several occasions, in some cases in editions that probably have false dates and imprints. Though this article concentrates mainly on the two volumes known to contain material by Locke, a preliminary survey of entire printing history of the journal has also been made, with the results presented in tabular form in Appendix I.
