An electrochemical sensor capable of detecting glutathione (GSH) with high sensitivity and selectivity was developed based on the unique novel electroactive silver-based metal organic framework (Ag-MOF). The Ag-MOF obtained by silver nitrate and 1,3,5-benzoic acid (H3BTC) was thoroughly characterized and was modified onto the electrode via facile drop-casting method. The electrochemical response of GSH on the Ag-MOF modified electrode showed a significant reduction in the current signal because the Ag-GSH complex had stronger specific affinity than Ag-H3BTC and resulted in the collapse of the Ag-MOF. This sensor demonstrated an extensive linear dynamic range of 0.1 nM-1 µM, along with the low detection limit of 0.018 nM. Additionally, it exhibited good reproducibility, stability, and resistance to interfering compounds. The Ag-MOF modified electrode demonstrated superior performance attributed to its rapid electron transfer rate, outstanding electrochemical redox activity, and specific recognition/competitive reaction. These factors improved both sensitivity and selectivity. The high anti-interference ability allowed for the selective detection of GSH in intricate surroundings. In the real sample testing, the RSD was lower than 3.1% and the recovery was between 98.1 and 103%. Rod-like graphite carbon nitride@MnO2 (R-g-C3N5@MnO2) heterostructure was prepared by in situ self-anchored growth of MnO2 nanosheet on the surface of R-g-C3N5. The synthesized R-g-C3N5@MnO2 heterostructure as photoactive material exhibited excellent photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance, and the prepared heterostructure-aptamer probe displayed sensitive PEC response to cTnI. Therefore, the PEC method was developed to detect cTnI based on the R-g-C3N5@MnO2 heterostructure. It was found that the linear response to cTnI was in the range 0.001–30 ng/mL under optimized conditions, and the detection limit of the proposed sensor was 0.3 pg/mL. The PEC method displays stable photocurrent response up to 8 cycles and exhibited outstanding selectivity and sensitivity. The PEC method was successfully applied to detect cTnI in serum samples. Purpose: This study aimed to establish an animal model in which we can precisely displace the spinal cord and therefore mimic the chronic spinal compression of cervical spondylotic myelopathy. Methods: In vivo intervertebral compression devices (IVCDs) connected with subcutaneous control modules (SCCMs) were implanted into the C2-3 intervertebral disk spaces of sheep and connected by Bluetooth to an in vitro control system. Sixteen sheep were divided into four groups: (Group A) control; (Group B) 10-week progressive compression, then held; (Group C) 20-week progressive compression, then held; and (Group D) 20-week progressive compression, then decompression. Electrophysiological analysis (latency and amplitude of the N1-P1-N2 wave in somatosensory evoked potentials, SEP), behavioral changes (Tarlov score), imaging test (encroachment ratio (ER) of intraspinal invasion determined by X-ray and CT scan), and histological examinations (hematoxylin and eosin, Nissl, and TUNEL staining) were performed to assess the efficacy of our model. Results: Tarlov scores gradually decreased as compression increased with time and partially recovered after decompression. The Pearson correlation coefficient between ER and time was r = 0.993 (p < 0.001) in Group B at 10 weeks and Groups C and D at 20 weeks. And ER was negatively correlated with the Tarlov score (r = -0.878, p < 0.001). As compression progressed, the SEP latency was significantly extended (p < 0.001), and the amplitude significantly decreased (p < 0.001), while they were both partially restored after decompression. The number of abnormal motor neurons and TUNEL-positive cells increased significantly (p < 0.001) with compression. Conclusion: Our implantable and wireless intervertebral compression model demonstrated outstanding controllability and reproducibility in simulating chronic cervical spinal cord compression in animals. A novel nanocomposite of CuO nanoparticle-modified Zr-MOF (CuO/UiO-66) was synthesized and developed as a fluorescence nanoplatform for H2O2 and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) via the "turn-on–off" mode in the presence of terephthalic acid (TA). The structure of CuO/UiO-66 was thoroughly characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and other techniques. The CuO/UiO-66 with enhanced peroxidase-like (POD) activity obtained due to the Zr4+ in UiO-66 is beneficial to the aggregation of CuO NPs on its surface. As a result, the strengthened fluorescence at 425 nm with the excitation of 300 nm was found due to the highly fluorescent species of TAOH. This is produced by the oxidation of TA by ·OH that came from the catalysis of H2O2 via the peroxidase mimic of CuO/UiO-66. Hence the modification of CuO NPs on porous UiO-66 can provide a friendly and sensitive physiological condition for H2O2 detection. However, upon addition of ATP, the fluorescence intensity of TAOH at 425 nm effectively declined owing to the formation of complexation of Zr4+-ATP and the interaction of CuO to ATP which hampers the catalytic reaction of CuO/UiO-66 to H2O2. The specific interaction induced "inhibition of the peroxide-like activity" endows the sensitive and selective recognition of ATP. The detection limits were 16.87 ± 0.2 nM and 0.82 ± 0.1 nM, and linear analytical ranges were 0.02–100 μM and 0.002–30 μM for H2O2 and ATP, respectively. The novel strategy was successfully applied to H2O2 and ATP determination in serum samples with recoveries of 97.2–103.8% for H2O2 and 97.6–101.7% for ATP, enriching the avenue to design functional MOFs and providing new avenue of multicomponent bioanalysis. Aims: Although endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) for large common bile duct (CBD) stones is facilitated by digital cholangioscopy-guided lithotripsy, it is performed by fluoroscopy guidance. Here, we report our experience of non-radiation ERCP for large CBD stones using digital cholangioscopy-guided laser lithotripsy.Methods: Sixteen patients with large CBD stones underwent non-radiation digital cholangioscopy-guided laser lithotripsy and lithotomy. Data relevant to procedure details, adverse events, and short-term follow-up were analyzed.Results: Biliary access was achieved in all patients using standard guidewire-assisted cannulation, double-guidewire technique, and transpancreatic precut in twelve, two, and two patients, respectively. Balloons of 10 mm, 8 mm, and 6 mm in diameter were applied for EPBD in 8, 2, and 6 patients, respectively. Complete stone removal in one session was achieved in all patients. One round of laser lithotripsy was needed for stone ≤ 25 mm, and three-to-five rounds were needed for stones > 25 mm or multiple stones. One or two clips were used for endoscopic clipping. The time lengths of biliary access, digital cholangioscopy-assisted laser lithotripsy and stone extraction, and whole procedure were 3.5 ± 3.2 (0.5-12) minutes, 52.5 ± 30.6 (45-97) minutes, and 76 ± 23.3 (58-106) minutes, respectively. Asymptomatic hyperleukocytose, hyperamylasemia, and mild pancreatitis were present in 1, 2, and 1 patient(s), respectively. No other complications occurred. No cholangitis or recurrent CBD stones were observed.Conclusion: Non-radiation digital cholangioscopy-guided laser lithotripsy is technically feasible and can be safely performed for endoscopic management of large CBD stones. The authors describe a dual-signal colorimetric and ratiometric fluorescent probe for uric acid (UA). It is based on cascade catalysis and an inner filter effect. The method involves uricase-catalyzed oxidation of UA and iodide-catalyzed oxidation of the colorless peroxidase substrate o-phenylenediamine (OPD) to form yellow 2,3-diaminophenazine (oxOPD). This can be visually observed or monitored by measuring absorbance at 417 nm. Furthermore, oxOPD quenches the fluorescence of silicon nanoparticles (SiNPs) (with peaks at 450 and 565 nm) via an inner filter effect. The change in the ratio of emissions peaking 565 and 450 (at excitation wavelength of 380 nm) increases linearly in the 0.01–0.8 mM UA concentration range). The lower detection limits are 8.4 and 0.75 μM when using the colorimetric and ratiometric fluorometric method, respectively. Sudan dyes are phenyl-azoic derivatives widely used in industry. Classified as carcinogenic and are strictly forbidden in foodstuffs; however, some unscrupulous businessmen adopted it for coloring foodstuffs. Here, a simple and effective fluorescence (FL) assay platform has been developed for the detection of Sudan I-IV based on CsPbBr3 perovskite quantum dots (QDs). It was found that the fluorescent emission of CsPbBr3 QDs can be effectively quenched by Sudan I-IV. Under the optimized conditions, the FL quenching efficiency of CsPbBr3 QDs was quantitatively correlated to the logarithmic concentrations of Sudan I-IV over the ranges of 100-10,000, 0.1-1000, 0.1-2000 and 0.4-1000 ng mL−1 for Sudan I-IV, and the corresponding limits of detection were 3.33, 0.03, 0.03 and 0.04 ng mL−1 (at 3σ/slope), respectively. CsPbX3 QDs (X = Cl, Br, and I or mixed halide systems Cl/Br and Br/I) was utilized as sensor in FL assay, which have unique optical properties of high FL quantum yields (up to 90%), narrow half peak width (26 nm) and tunable FL emissions spectra (410-700 nm). Meanwhile, the practical use of this assay platform for Sudan I-IV detection in chilli powder samples was also demonstrated, which indicated the potential in practical applications. Clenbuterol (CLB), a member of β-agonist family, has now been a serious threat to human health due to its illegal usage in the animal feed. In this paper, we designed a fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) system consisting of carbon dots (C-dots) and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) for recovered fluorescence detecting of CLB. In the presence of CLB, CLB molecules can interact with AuNPs via Au-N bonds, preventing the interaction of C-dots and AuNPs, which induced the recover of the fluorescent intensity. Under the optimal conditions, the limit of detection for CLB was 3 nM, with a wide concentration linear range of 8-200 nM ( S/ N = 3). Meanwhile, the proposed method was successfully applied to detect CLB in pork samples, illustrating it could be used as a reliable, rapid, and cost-effective method for the determination of CLB residues in pork samples. In this paper, we report a simple and sensitive fluorescent biosensor for the quantitative analysis of silver ions (Ag) by using NaYF:Yb, Tm upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs). Ag could oxidize o-phenylenediamine (OPD) to the oxidized OPD (oxOPD) directly. The fluorescence of UCNPs can be significantly quenched by oxOPD through inner filter effects (IFE). Under the optimized conditions, the Ag concentration is proportional to the changes of the fluorescence intensity of UCNPs. The proposed method shows high selectivity and Ag could be quantitatively detected in the range of 0 to 0.5 mM with a low detection limit of 33 nM for Ag. The selectivity and sensitivity of the detection can also be satisfactory. More importantly, this method has potential in practical application to detect Ag in real samples without interference. Despite many studies concerning the forming age, evolution characteristics and the age of petroleum charging in the Fuxin upheaval of southern Songliao Basin, no consensus has been reached so far. This paper presents the first K-Ar dating of autogenetic illite from stratigraphic petroleum reservoirs in the Fuyu oil layer of the Fuxin upheaval belt. Isotopic test and age calculation were carried out based on the separation and purification of illite mineral, X-diffraction analysis and the detection of scanning electron microscopy. The evolution characteristics of structure, sedimentation, reservoir-forming about the Fuxin upheaval belt were interpreted in terms of the synthetical analysis of "six-type geological history" evolution in southern Songliao Basin. The geologic background of petroleum evolution and reservoir formation are similar in the entire central depression region of southern Songliao Basin. The Changling sag and the Fuxin upheaval belt brought about obvious upheaval-sag separation after the hydrocarbon-generation peak of K2qn¹ and the main reservoir-forming period of the Fuyu oil layer, namely reservoir-forming happened before the Fuxin upheaval belt extensively raised. The reservoirs have three characteristics: the hydrocarbon source rock above the reservoir, the oil source in the locality, and the vertical migration. The geological cognition is corrected, that is, oil source came from the Changling sag and migrated from the side direction. The bulk process of petroleum charging in the stratigraphic hydrocarbon reservoirs in the Fuxin upheaval belt of southern Songliao Basin is determined according to the isotopic age of autogenetic illite in combination with the method of fluid inclusions. The cognition is helpful to exactly evaluate the resource potential and exploration direction in the Fuxin upheaval belt, Changling sag and their peripheral areas. The present results indicate that the combination of the two methods (the K-Ar dating of autogenetic illite and fluid inclusions) is an effective way to lay bare petroleum charging history and ascertain reservoir age. The combination of reflectance UV-Vis spectroelectrochemistry with electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM) and separate reflectance FTIR characterization were used to investigate the structural interconversion for poly(o-phenylenediamine) (PoPD) between its ladder structure with phenazine units and polyaniline-like linear chains. The poly(o-phenylenediamine) films potentiostatically (0.8 V vs. SCE) grew on Au electrodes from 0.20 mol·L-1 H2SO4 (PoPD1) or 0.40 mol·L-1 NaOH (PoPD2) aqueous solution containing 0.20 mol·L-1 Na2SO4 + 0.10 mol·L-1 o-phenylenediamine. By considering the mass of deposited PoPD2 film obtained from the EQCM data and the charge consumed under the current peak at ca. 0.6 V vs. SCE for oxidation of -NH2 groups in as-prepared PoPD2 during potential cycling in 0.10 mol·L-1 aqueous H2SO4, the molar percentage of the polyaniline-like chains was estimated to be 19% (relative to total phenylenediamine units), being in agreement with the result obtained from a formaldehydecombination experiment through the aminocarbonyl reaction. After 40-cycle potential sweeps between 0.2 and 0.8 V vs. SCE the polyaniline-like chains in PoPD2 could be completely converted via intramolecular cyclization into the ladder structure with phenazine units. However, PoPD1 was found to be perfectly composed of the ladder structure with phenazine units, and after 40-cycle potential sweeps between -0.4 and 0.1 V vs. SCE only 2.5% in molar percentage of PoPD's ladder structure could be converted into polyani line-like chains, suggesting that the ladder structure with phenazine units is thermodynamically more stable due to its possessing higher conjugation. Transition metals copper and titanium substituted mesoporous silicas (Cu-HMS and Ti-HMS) were synthesized at ambient temperature by using dodecylamine (DDA) surfactant as templating agent. XRD measurements prove that incorporating titanium and especially copper into the mesostructures causes the d100 peaks of mesoporous silicas to become shifted to lower angles, indicating progressive expansion of the lattice d-spacings upon heteroatoms Ti and especially Cu incorporating. FT-IR measurements indicate that the calcined Cu-HMS and Ti-HMS samples all exhibit a weaker absorption band near 960 cm-1 which may be rather a fingerprint of the heteroatom on the matrix of [SiO4] units whatever its crystallization state. Cu-HMS possesses relatively high catalytic activity for the hydroxylation of phenol with 30% aq. H2O2 in aqueous solution (about 36% phenol conversion and more than 95% selectivity for dihydroxybenzene isomers), but Ti-HMS has no catalytic activity under the same reaction conditions. The product distribution obtained from Cu-HMS is completely different from that of the microporous titanium silicalite zeolites (TS zeolites). This is attributed to the porous structural differences between Cu-HMS and TS zeolites. The catalytic activity of the Cu-HMS is strongly dependent on the nature of the solvent; the Cu-HMS does not have any catalytic activity in the presence of organic solvents such as methanol or acetone instead of water. A reusing test of the recovered Cu-HMS indicates that the recovered catalyst suffers almost loss of activity and must be regenerated by calcination in air at 873 K in order to recover its activity. A novel nanomaterial of two-dimensional holey CuCo2O4 (2D HCCO) nanosheets was synthesized via a general template-directed method and employed for the first time to construct an effective electrochemical platform for H2O2 sensing with the combination of cerium oxide (CeO2). During the electrocatalytic reduction of H2O2, the synergetic catalysis of CeO2/HCCO/MWCNTs/GCE owing to the naturally holey frameworks and the mediator of CeO2 results in the ultra-sensitive detection of H2O2. The current was greatly enhanced owing to the unique holey structure that can minimize the charge transfer distance and provide more active sites to boost the signals, and the dual oxidation state of Ce3+/Ce4+ on the surface of 2D HCCO nanosheets can promote the in situ production of Cu2+/Cu+ and Cu+/Cu and further amplify the detection signal. The CeO2/HCCO/MWCNTs/GCE showed a wide linear range from 1 μM to 7.31 mM using chronoamperometry at the potential of − 0.25 V and a relatively low detection limit of 0.16 μM in physiological environment, which was also utilized for tracking the trace H2O2 released from Hela cells. Illitic clay is ubiquitous in clastic hydrocarbon reservoirs, and the host for several radiometric isotopes such as the potassium-argon (K-Ar) and rubidium-strontium (Rb-Sr) systems. This study applied the isotope-dilution thermal ionization mass spectrometry technique for small samples (3–4 mg) to conduct illite Rb-Sr isotope dating of five illitic clay samples from the Silurian bituminous sandstone (SBS) intersected by five drillholes in the Tarim Basin, NW China. The 87Rb/86Sr ratio of clays is fractionated mainly by the addition of Rb during the illitization of mixed-layer illite/smectite (I/S), which is the dominant clay species in the Tarim Basin samples. The subsample-scale Rb/Sr isotope values suggest that each subsample may contain I/S particles of slightly variable degrees of illitization. Three of the analyzed samples (H6, KQ1 and TZ67) generated Rb-Sr isochron ages of 141 ± 61 Ma, 332 ± 32 Ma and 235 ± 8 Ma (errors quoted at 2σ), respectively. These results are similar to the corresponding K-Ar ages (125 Ma, 389 Ma and 234 Ma). The isotopic ages are consistent with the timing of hydrocarbon charge which varies in different drillholes as constrained by basin modelling, indicating that a closed-system behavior is attained by the hydrocarbon charge that inhibits the illitization of I/S. The Rb-Sr isotope analyses of the other two samples (YM35-1 and Q1) that did not yield isochron ages suggest the conditions for producing isochrons were not satisfied, which may be caused by disturbance of the isotope system by a post-charge hydrothermal event. The outcomes of this study show the robust potential of Rb-Sr clay subsample geochronology for cross-checking isotopic ages yielded by other systems (e.g. K-Ar system) and constraining the timing of hydrocarbon charge. A fluorimetric and colorimetric method is described for the determination of glutathione (GSH) and silver (I). It is based on the use of MnO2 nanosheets that were prepared by solution mixing and exfoliation. They display oxidase-mimicking activity and can catalyze the oxidation of o-phenylenediamine (OPD) to form yellow 2,3-diaminophenazine (DAP) with an absorption maximum at 410 nm. DAP also has a yellow fluorescence (with a peak at 560 nm). The MnO2 nanosheets can be rapidly reduced to Mn2+ by GSH. This reduces the efficiency of the oxidase mimic MnO2 and causes a decrease in fluorescence and absorbance intensity. However, on addition of Ag+, a complex is formed with GSH. It prevents the destruction of MnO2 nanosheets so that the enzyme mimicking activity is retained. A dual-method for the determination of GSH and Ag(I) was developed. It has excellent sensitivity for GSH with lower detection limits of 62 nM (fluorimetric) and 0.94 μM (colorimetric). The respective data for Ag(I) are 70 nM and 1.15 μM. Colorimetric methods are described for the determination of ascorbic acid (AA) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP). Both assays are based on the inhibition of the peroxidase (POx)-like activity of Prussian Blue nanocubes (PB NCs) capped with citric acid. They catalyze the oxidation of 3,3,5,5-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) by H2O2 to produce a blue color with an absorption maximum at 652 nm. On addition of AA, the PB NCs are reduced to Prussian White (PW) which does not act as a POx mimic. This results in a decreased rate of the formation of the blue coloration whose intensity decreases with increasing concentration of AA. The assay allows AA to be quantified with a 35 nM detection limit (at 3σ/m). The hydrolysis of AA phosphate by ALP leads to the formation of AA which can be quantified by the above method. Based on this, the activity of ALP can be determined by measurement of the intensity of the blue coloration thus formed. The authors describe a fluorometric method for the turn-on determination of vitamin C (ascorbic acid). The blue fluorescence of silicon nanoparticles (SiNPs; with excitation/emission maxima at 350/450 nm) is found to be quenched by CoOOH nanoparticles (NPs). In the presence of vitamin C, the CoOOH NPs are decomposed by a redox reaction between the diol group of vitamin C and CoOOH NPs. As a result, fluorescence recovers. On the basis of this finding, a fluorometric method was designed for the turn-on detection of vitamin C. Under optimal conditions, the method has a low detection limit (0.47 μM) and a linear response in the 0.5 μM to 20 μM a concentration range. The authors describe an upconversion nanoparticle-based (UCNP-based) fluorometric method for ultrasensitive and selective detection of Cu2+. The UCNPs show a strong emission band at 550 nm under near-infrared excitation at 980 nm. The principle of the strategy is that gold nanoparticles (AuNP) can quench the fluorescence of UCNP. In contrast, the addition of L-cysteine (Cys) can induce the aggregation of AuNP, resulting in a fluorescence recovery of the UCNPs. On addition of Cu2+, it oxidizes Cys to cystine and is reduced to Cu+. The Cu+ thusformed can be oxidized cyclically to Cu2+ by dissolved O2, which catalyzes and recycles the whole reaction. Thus, the aggregation of AuNP is inhibited and the fluorescence recovered by Cys is quenched. Under the optimal condition, the quenching efficiency shows a good linear response to the concentrations of Cu2+ in the 0.4-40 nM range. The limit of detection is 0.16 nM, which is 5 orders of magnitude lower than the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency limit for Cu2+ in drinking water (20 μM). The method has been further applied to monitor Cu2+ levels in real samples. An immunosensor is described for the voltammetric determination of α-fetoprotein. It is making use of an AuNP-dendrimer conjugate and an ionic liquid. A gold electrode was first modified with chitosan. Then, the AuNP-dendrimer conjugate was covalently immobilized on the electrode. Following this, an ionic liquid was placed on the electrode via formation of a covalent bond between the amino groups of PAMAM and the aldehyde groups of an ionic liquid containing ferrocene. Thus, the redox probe ferrocene becomes immobilized on the electrode surface. PAMAM increases the amount of ferrocene immobilized on the electrode due to its globular shape and rich amino groups. The use of AuNPs improves the conductivity of the electrode. The modified electrode was applied to the determination of α-fetoprotein in human serum and has a linear response that covers the 0.05 to 30 ng mL−1 α-fetoprotein concentration range, with a detection limit of 0.02 ng mL−1.
