Sequences of mitochondrial (cytochrome b) and nuclear (recombination activating gene 1- RAG1) DNA markers were obtained for two species of the genus Alburnoides, the Taskent riffle minnow A. oblongus Bulgakov 1923 and the Terek spirlin A. gmelini Bogutskaya and Coad 2009. A multi-partner project to determine the thermodynamic temperatures of a selected set of high-temperature fixed points based on metal-carbon eutectics is underway as a working group activity within the Comité International des Poids et Mesures. The investigation focuses on four fixed-point types, namely, the three metal-carbon eutectic points of Re-C $$(2474\,^{\circ }\hbox {C})$$ , Pt-C $$(1738\,^{\circ }\hbox {C})$$ , and Co-C $$(1324\,^{\circ }\hbox {C})$$ , and the Cu point $$(1084.62\,^{\circ }\hbox {C})$$ . This paper describes the construction, pre-evaluation, and screening stage of the cells prior to their thermodynamic temperature determinations. The construction of the HTFP cells was undertaken by nine national metrology institutes (NMIs) according to instructions laid out in a pre-agreed protocol that ensures production of best quality cells. Four NMIs conducted the evaluation, each for a certain fixed-point type, and screened out cells that did not meet pre-determined selection criteria while assuring sufficient variety in the sources of the cells in the final selected sets. VNIIM and LNE-Cnam have collaborated for several years in the field of metal-carbon eutectic points. The first action was the construction of a Pt-C cell at VNIIM using the LNE-Cnam technique and cell design. The Pt-C cells constructed in each of the laboratories were studied and compared in the past. The two laboratories have followed their collaboration work by studying and comparing Co-C and Re-C cells. Different designs and filling techniques were applied. The melting and freezing temperatures observed on the Re-C cells from the two laboratories were measured at VNIIM. The Re-C and Co-C cells were compared at LNE-Cnam in the high-temperature blackbody furnace HTBB 3200pg which was thermally optimized before the measurements. The results of the comparison showed that the Co-C cells were comparable at the level of 0.03 K while the Re-C cells showed a large difference of melting temperatures of about 0.7 K. In this article, the cells used and the methodology of the comparison will be described. The temperature differences that were obtained at the highest temperature will be examined to propose an explanation for this temperature difference. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The temperature field non-uniformity of a blackbody cavity is one of the components of uncertainty of fixed-point realization. Here a study of the design and opportunities of the temperature furnace used in VNIIM is described. The dependence of the uniformity of a temperature field on various factors is shown by results of numerical calculations of a temperature field of VNIIM's copper and gold fixed-point cells, realized with the software packages Elcut 5.3 and Ansys 11.0. A thermophysical model of the phase transition considered as steady state with convection and radiation heat exchange to an environment is applied. The basic focus is made on calculation of the radiation heat exchange between crucible elements and the environment and a furnace cavity, as a dominating component of the heat transfer. Results using analytically and numerically calculated angular factors of radiation of heat exchange are discussed. The data obtained in measurements of a temperature field of a cavity fixed point during phase transitions of copper and gold by a spectrocomparator with high sensitivity, are also shown here. Both theoretical calculation and experiment were realized at various distributions of temperature along an external surface of a crucible. Good agreement of results between steady-state calculation of a temperature field and the measured data with the best entry conditions is observed. The average value of non-uniformity of a temperature field along a cavity for points of phase transition of copper and gold for an 88 mm long graphite crucible with a 54 mm deep, 8 mm diameter cavity was 40 mK, and the temperature drop across the graphite wall was 20 mK. In this paper the reasons for occurrence of large gradients inside a fixed-point cavity during the phase transition, received during some experimental research, are also discussed. In the temperature range (900 to 2800) K, there has been confirmed compliance with the existing national standards for thermocouple wires W5% Re/W20%Re (type A) produced in Russia. The homogeneity within a lot of wires was evaluated by measuring the emf deviations from the corresponding reference function of thermocouples constructed from the front and the rear sections of paired coils of wires. The diameter of the wires amounted to 0.35 mm and 0.5 mm. Stability indicators were thermal emf changes after annealing for 2 hours at 1773 K. It was found that the inhomogeneity of thermoelements did not exceed (4 to 5) K for paired wire coils with a thermoelectric stability within a temperature equivalent of (1.0 to 1.5) K. EMF deviations from the reference table values for the thermocouples investigated did not exceed 1 % in the temperature range of (900 to 2773) K. Such deviations meet the requirements of the new draft of IEC standards 60584-1 and 2. Thermocouples were calibrated in four laboratories by comparison with various standard temperature gauges (type B thermocouple, radiation pyrometer, standard specimens of thermoelements). Measurements were carried out under vacuum, argon, and hydrogen. Depending on the calibration method, the expanded uncertainty of the measurements at 1773 K varied from (2.8 to 8) K. The release of radiolabeled immunoglobulins from distal end of blocked rat carotid artery was studied in vivo. The elimination half-time was 8–9 min for a 4–5-cm long segment of blocked artery and 16–24 min for a 7–8-cm long segment.
