Oil pollution and the energy crisis make oil-water separation an urgent for human need. The widespread use of materials with a single emulsion separation capability is limited. Multifunctional on-demand separation materials can adapt to a wide range of application scenarios, thus having a wider range of applications. The underoil superhydrophilic surface is of great significance for realizing the on-demand separation of oil/water emulsions through the removal of water in the oil and oil in the water. A 3D porous emulsion separation material based on the superhydrophilic principle of sphagnum moss was designed. The material was prepared in a simple step by taking advantage of the adhesion of polydopamine and the introduction of the as-prepared superhydrophilic BaSO4 nanoparticles to achieve superhydrophilicity with a water contact angle (WCA) of 0° and an oil contact angle (OCA) of 157.3°, resulting in excellent separation performance for both water-in-oil and oil-in-water emulsions. Underoil superhydrophilic porous composite (OSPC) can complete two kinds of emulsion separations by filtration or adsorption. It adsorbs water from water-in-oil emulsion to achieve separation, with a good adsorption capacity of 74.38 g/g and efficiency up to 99%. It can also filter oil-in-water emulsions with an efficiency of 99.92%. The separation efficiencies are all almost unchanged after ten separation cycles. Furthermore, the material has excellent flame retardancy, which reduces the possibility of secondary disasters. The three-dimensional porous sponge has excellent on-demand separation performance for multiple emulsions. It provides a new preparation strategy for underoil superhydrophilic materials and a new idea for the design direction of special wetting materials for the on-demand separation of oil/water emulsions. Two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals layered materials have been widely used as lubricant. Penta-graphene (PG), a 2D carbon allotrope exclusively composed of irregular carbon pentagons has recently been predicted to have superlubricating property. In the present study, by combining the molecular dynamics simulation and first-principles calculations, we investigated the frictional property of PG in both commensurate and incommensurate contacts. Our calculations show the ultra-low friction at the interface of relatively rotated bilayer PG with twist angles of more than 10° away from the commensurate configuration. Meanwhile, our calculations demonstrate the isotropy of the ultra-low friction at the interface of incommensurate contact, in contrast to the anisotropic of the commensurate contacting interface. Additionally, the evolution of friction force and the fluctuation of potential energy along sliding path correlate closely with the interface's structure. The energetics and charge density explain the difference between the friction at the interfaces of the commensurate and incommensurate contacts. Not only that, we found the correlation between the intrinsic structural feature and interlayer binding energy. Two-dimensional materials are excellent lubricants with inherent advantages. However, superlubricity has been reported for only a few of these materials. Unfortunately, other promising two-dimentional (2D) materials with different physical properties cannot be discovered or applied in production; thus, energy consumption can be greatly reduced. Here, we carry out high-throughput calculations for 1,475 2D materials and screen for low-friction materials. To set a standard, we propose, for the first time, a geometry-independent lubricating figure of merit based on the conditions for stick-slip transition and our theory of Moiré friction. For the efficient calculation of this figure of merit, an innovative approach was developed based on an improved registry index model. Through calculations, 340 materials were found to have a figure of merit lower than 10−3. Eventually, a small set of 21 materials with a figure of merit lower than 10−4 were screened out. These materials can provide diverse choices for various applications. Herein, we have prepared SiO2 particles uploaded MXene nanosheets via in-situ hydrolysis of tetraetholothosilicate. Due to the large number of groups at the edges of MXene, SiO2 grows at the edges first, forming MXene@SiO2 composites with a unique core-rim structure. The tribological properties of MXene@SiO2 as lubricating additive in 500 SN are evaluated by SRV-5. The results show that MXene@SiO2 can reduce the friction coefficient of 500 SN from 0.572 to 0.108, the wear volume is reduced by 73.7%, and the load capacity is increased to 800 N. The superior lubricity of MXene@SiO2 is attributed to the synergistic effect of MXene and SiO2. The rolling friction caused by SiO2 not only improves the bearing capacity but also increases the interlayer distance of MXene, avoiding accumulation and making it more prone to interlayer slip. MXene@SiO2 is adsorbed on the friction interface to form a physical adsorption film and isolate the friction pair. In addition, the high temperature and high load induce the tribochemical reaction and form a chemical protection film during in the friction process. Two-photon photodynamic therapy (TP-PDT) has garnered significant attention because of its excellent depth of tissue penetration and high spatiotemporal selectivity. However, the limited targeting ability and oxygen dependency of photosensitizers (PSs) significantly hinder the effectiveness of photodynamic therapy in hypoxic tumor treatment. Herein, we designed and synthesized two lipid droplet (LD)-targeted two-photon PSs (TBPCP and TBCP) by reducing benzene rings to achieve "acceptor planarization". Notably, acceptor planarization not only enhanced the intramolecular charge transfer but also transferred the photochemical reaction from type II (TBPCP) to type I (TBCP). Under the irradiation of 940 nm femtosecond pulsed laser, TBPCP and TBCP showed bright two-photon-excited fluorescence and excellent LD targeting in living cells. Comparing TBPCP (type II PS), the outstanding TP-PDT efficacy of TBCP (type I PS) under hypoxic conditions could be obtained in both cellular experiments and multicellular tumor spheroids (MCTS) model. Additionally, both TBPCP and TBCP could induce the lipid peroxidation in the type I or type II PDT due to the location of LD, depleting GSH and inactivating GPX4 to induce non-programmed ferroptosis in cells. Developing functional additive resistant to space atomic oxygen (AO) irradiation through simple molecular design and chemical synthesis to enhance the lubricating performance of multialkylated cyclopentanes (MACs) oil is a significant challenge. Herein, sulfur-containing polyhedral oligomere silsesquioxane (POSS) were synthesize via a click-chemistry reaction of octavinyl polyhedral oligomeric with alkyl sulfide. The reduce-friction (RF), anti-wear (AW) properties and anti-AO irradiation of POSS-S-R as MACs base oil additives in atmospheric and simulated space environments were systematically investigated for the first time. Results demonstrate that POSS-S-R not only possesses outstanding anti-AO irradiation capacity but also effectively improves the RF and AW of MACs in atmospheric or simulated space surroundings. This improvement is due to the excellent anti-AO irradiation properties of the POSS structure itself and the high load-carrying ability of silicon-containing and sulfur-containing compounds generated by tribo-chemical reactions, which effectively separates the direct contact of the friction interface. Synchronized catalytic removal of nitrogen oxides (NOx, x = 1 and 2) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) plays a vital role in environmental protection in China. In this study, the performance of a series of catalysts prepared by sol–gel method with Ce, Cu, Mn, and Fe loaded on TiO2 for the simultaneous elimination of NOx and toluene (PhCH3) were tested and the best bifunctional removal of both pollutants was achieved by the CuCe/Ti catalyst. The catalysts' performance evaluation was tested within a temperature window of 200–450 °C by a converted denitration equipment. The simulated flue gases consisted of 50 ppm toluene, 500 ppm NO, 500 ppm NH3, 7.5% O2 and equilibrium N2 at a total flow rate of 1200 mL/min. The effects of loading Cu, Mn and Fe on the physicochemical properties of the catalysts were analyzed using SEM, XRD, XPS, NH3-TPD, H2-TPR and other characterization techniques and then confirmed the results of catalyst removal efficiency. The results showed that the CuCe/Ti catalyst had the best physicochemical performance with higher component dispersion and better redox ability. The removal rate of CuCe/Ti catalyst was 100% for NO and 95.5% for toluene at the reaction temperature of 250 ℃. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study presents a nitrogen-doped microporous carbon nanospheres (N@MCNs) prepared by a facile polymerization–carbonization process using low-cost styrene. The N element in situ introduces polystyrene (PS) nanospheres via emulsion polymerization of styrene with cyanuric chloride as crosslinking agent, and then carbonization obtains N@MCNs. The as-prepared carbon nanospheres possess the complete spherical structure and adjustable nitrogen amount by controlling the relative proportion of tetrachloromethane and cyanuric chloride. The friction performance of N@MCNs as lubricating oil additives was surveyed utilizing the friction experiment of ball-disc structure. The results showed that N@MCNs exhibit superb reduction performance of friction and wear. When the addition of N@MCNs was 0.06 wt%, the friction coefficient of PAO-10 decreased from 0.188 to 0.105, and the wear volume reduced by 94.4%. The width and depth of wear marks of N@MCNs decreased by 49.2% and 94.5%, respectively. The carrying capacity of load was rocketed from 100 to 400 N concurrently. Through the analysis of the lubrication mechanism, the result manifested that the prepared N@MCNs enter clearance of the friction pair, transform the sliding friction into the mixed friction of sliding and rolling, and repair the contact surface through the repair effect. Furthermore, the tribochemical reaction between nanoparticles and friction pairs forms a protective film containing nitride and metal oxides, which can avert direct contact with the matrix and improve the tribological properties. This experiment showed that nitrogen-doped polystyrene-based carbon nanospheres prepared by in-situ doping are the promising materials for wear resistance and reducing friction. This preparing method can be ulteriorly expanded to multi-element co-permeable materials. Nitrogen and boron co-doped carbon nanospheres (B,N@MCNs) were prepared by mixed carbonization of N-enriched PS and boric acid, and exhibited high load carrying capacity and good tribological properties. Pure WS2 film prepared by the radio frequency sputtering system exhibits a porous dendrite-like structure. The evolution in microstructure and tribological property of WS2 film were mainly investigated under different neutral gas irradiations using our self-made ground simulation device. After atomic nitrogen and atomic oxygen irradiation, the crystal structure and hardness of WS2 film were improved and wear life of film significantly prolong about 33% and 2 times, respectively. However, atomic hydrogen leads to a negative effect. The different results are found to be closely related to component change induced by irradiation on sliding contact area, further affecting formation of transfer film. Highlights: A low-strength-centrifugation-assisted approach for rapid gelation of Ti3C2Tx MXene with a very low dispersion concentration into multifunctional 3D architectures is developed. On the basis of pH-induced surface termination changes, the MXene gels exhibit reconfigurable internal structures and tunable rheological, tribological, electrochemical, infrared-emissive and photothermal-conversion properties. By adopting a gel with optimized pH value, high lubrication, remarkable capacitance, long-term capacitance retention and high-precision screen- or extrusion-printing into high-resolution anticounterfeiting patterns can be achieved. Due to the mutual repulsion between their hydrophilic surface terminations and the high surface energy facilitating their random restacking, 2D MXene nanosheets usually cannot self-assemble into 3D macroscopic gels with various applications in the absence of proper linking agents. In this work, a rapid spontaneous gelation of Ti3C2Tx MXene with a very low dispersion concentration of 0.5 mg mL−1 into multifunctional architectures under moderate centrifugation is illustrated. The as-prepared MXene gels exhibit reconfigurable internal structures and tunable rheological, tribological, electrochemical, infrared-emissive and photothermal-conversion properties based on the pH-induced changes in the surface chemistry of Ti3C2Tx nanosheets. By adopting a gel with optimized pH value, high lubrication, exceptional specific capacitances (~ 635 and ~ 408 F g−1 at 5 and 100 mV s−1, respectively), long-term capacitance retention (~ 96.7% after 10,000 cycles) and high-precision screen- or extrusion-printing into different high-resolution anticounterfeiting patterns can be achieved, thus displaying extensive potential applications in the fields of semi-solid lubrication, controllable devices, supercapacitors, information encryption and infrared camouflaging. MXene possesses great potential in enriching the functionalities of hydrogels due to its unique metallic conductivity, high aspect ratio, near-infrared light (NIR light) responsiveness, and wide tunability, however, the poor compatibility of MXene with hydrogels limits further applications. In this work, we report a uniformly dispersed MXene-functionalized poly-N-isopropylacrylamide (PNIPAM)/poly-2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid (PAMPS) double network hydrogel (M—DN hydrogel) that can achieve switchable friction regulation by using the NIR light. The dispersity of MXene in hydrogels was significantly improved by incorporating the chitosan (CS) polymer. This M—DN hydrogel showed much low coefficient of friction (COF) at 25 °C due to the presence of hydration layer on hydrogel surface. After illuminating with the NIR light, M—DN hydrogel with good photothermal effect rapidly raised the temperature to above the lower critical solution temperature (LCST), which led to an obvious increase of surface COF owing to the destruction of the hydration layer. In addition, M—DN friction control hydrogel showed good recyclability and controllability by tuning "on-off" of the NIR light. This work highlights the construction of functional MXene hydrogels for intelligent lubrication, which provides insight for interface sensing, controlled transmission, and flexible robotic arms. Polymer-textile liner composites have potential applications in aerospace applications for reducing the abrasion damage of moving parts during operation owing to their self-lubrication, light weight, and high loading capacity. Herein, Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) are successfully loaded into the lumen of halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) to construct an HNTs-Au peasecod core-shell nanosystem to optimize the wear resistance of phenolic resin-based poly(p-phenylene benzobisoxazole) (PBO)/polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) textile composites. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) characterization reveals that the AuNPs are well-dispersed inside the HNTs, with an average diameter of 6–9 nm. The anti-wear performance of the HNTs and Au-reinforced PBO/PTFE composites is evaluated using a pin-on-disk friction tester at 100 MPa. Evidently, the addition of HNTs-Au induces a 27.9% decrease in the wear rate of the composites. Possible anti-wear mechanisms are proposed based on the analyzed results of the worn surface morphology and the cross-section of the tribofilm obtained by focused ion beam transmission electron microscopy. Osteoarthritis (OA) treatment mainly relies on developing new drugs or nanocarriers, while little attention is paid to building novel remedial mode and improving drug loading efficiency. This work reports an integrated nanosystem that not only realizes visual drug loading and release, but also achieves enhanced lubrication and effective joint inflammation therapy based on fluorinated graphene quantum dots (FGQDs). Oxygen introduction promotes FGQDs outstanding water-stability for months, and layered nano-sized structure further guarantees excellent lubricating properties in biomimetic synovial fluid. The special design of chemistry and structure endows FGQDs robust fluorescence in a wide range of pH conditions. Also, the excitation spectrum of FGQDs well overlaps the absorption spectrum of drugs, which further constructs a new concept of internal filtering system to visually monitor drug loading by naked eyes. More importantly, extraordinary long-term lubrication performance is reported, which is the first experimental demonstration of concentration-dependent mutations of coefficient of friction (COF). Cell incubation experiments indicate that drug-loaded FGQDs have good biocompatibility, tracking property of cellular uptake and drug release, which show efficient anti-inflammation potential for H2O2-induced chondrocyte degradation by up-regulated cartilage anabolic genes. This study establishes a promising OA treatment strategy that enables to monitor drug loading and release, to enhance long-time lubricating property, and to show effective anti-inflammatory potential for cartilage protection. Tribochemistry can be defined as a field dealing with the chemical reactions occurring in the friction zone, capable of catalyzing mechanical and physico-chemical changes in the friction contact area, facilitating the formation of tribo-films, which is also an efficient approach to fabricate novel innovative materials. In this paper, we report the successful synthesis of the silicon oil (SO)-functionalized covalent organic frameworks (COFs) prepared via the tribochemical method when subjected to the reciprocating friction; during the friction process, the rich aldehyde-terminated COFs can bond with amino SO via the Schiff base reaction between aldehyde group and amino group to obtain the desired functionalized COFs (SO@COF-LZU1). The tribochemical reaction progress was tracked through in-situ monitoring of the friction coefficient and the operating conditions during the entire friction process. Noticeably, the friction coefficient continued to decrease until it finally stabilized as the reaction progressed, which revealed the formation of a protective tribo-film. Herein, an approximate tribochemical model was presented, wherein the reaction mechanism was investigated and analyzed by employing structural analysis techniques like magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (MAS NMR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Furthermore, the tribochemical-induced SO@COF-LZU1 exhibited remarkable tribological performance with a low friction coefficient of 0.1 and 95.5% reduction in wear volume when used as additives of 500SN base oil. The prime focus of our research was on the preparation and functionalization of COF materials via tribochemical reactions, unraveling a new avenue for the rational design and preparation of functional materials. Lubricants are often contaminated by water in different ways. Water-polluted lubricants extremely accelerate wear corrosion, leading to the deterioration of lubricity performance. Recently, multiphase media superwettability has been developed to endow one surface with compatible functions, such as on-demand separation of oily wastewater. However, realizing the robustness of the dual superlyophobic surface to solve water-caused lubricant deterioration and water contamination as needed remains challenges. Herein, a robust dual superlyophobic membrane is presented to realize on-demand separation for various lubricant—water emulsions. Compared to pure lubricants, the purified lubricants have equivalent tribology performance, which are much better than that of water-polluted lubricants. The as-prepared membrane maintains dual superlyophobicity, high-efficient for water or lubricant purification, and excellent tribology performance of the purified lubricant, even after immersion in hot liquids for 24 h, multicycle separation, and sandpaper abrasion for 50 cycles. Water-polluted lubricant extremely accelerates wear corrosion to promote catalytic dehydrogenation of lubricants, generating too much harmful carbon-based debris. The issues regarding energy dissipation and component damage caused by the interface friction between a friction pair attract enormous attention to friction reduction. The key-enabling technique to realize friction reduction is the use of lubricants. The lubricants smooth the contact interfaces, achieving an ultralow friction contact, which is called superslippery or superlubricity. At present, superslippery and superlubricity are two isolated research topics. There is a lack of unified definition on superslippery and superlubricity from the viewpoint of tribology. Herein, this review aims at exploring the differences and relations between superslippery and superlubricity from their origin and application scenarios. Meanwhile, the challenges for developing superslippery surface and superlubricity surface are discussed. In addition, perspectives on the interactive development of these two surfaces are presented. Metal-organic framework (MOF)-on-MOF structure allows stacking various types of MOFs with different lattice constants for molecule sieving or filtering. However, the multilayered MOFs-based optical devices have incoherent interference due to the lattice-mismatch at the interface and refractive index (RI) indifference. This paper reports isostructural MOFs-based photonic crystals (PCs) designed by stacking Bragg bilayers of lattice-matched MOFs thin films through a layer-by-layer assembly method. Colloidal nanoparticles (NPs) were homogenously encapsulated in some layers of the MOFs (HKUST-1@NPs) to tune their intrinsic RI during the spraying coating process. The isostructural MOFs-based PCs were constructed on a large scale by sequentially spraying coating the low RI layer of HKUST-1 and high RI layer of HKUST-1@NPs to form the desired number of Bragg bilayers. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) depth profiling proved the Bragg bilayers and the homogenous encapsulation of nanomaterials in certain layers of MOFs. Bandwidth of the PCs was tailored by the thickness and RI of the Bragg bilayers, which had a great consistent with finite difference time domain (FDTD) simulation. Importantly, reflectivity of the isostructural MOFs-based PCs was up to 96%. We demonstrated high detection sensitivity for chemical sensing on the PCs, which could be advanced by encapsulating different types of nanomaterials and designing wide-band isostructural MOFs-based PCs. Wind power curve (WPC) is an important index of wind turbines, and it plays an important role in wind power prediction and condition monitoring of wind turbines. Motivated by model parameter estimation of logistic function in WPC modelling, aimed at the problem of selecting initial value of model parameter estimation and local optimum result, based on the combination of genetic algorithm and least square estimation method, a genetic least square estimation (GLSE) method of parameter estimation is proposed, and the global optimum estimation result can be obtained. Six evaluation indices including the root mean square error, the coefficient of determination R2, the mean absolute error, the mean absolute percentage error, the improved Akaike information criterion and the Bayesian information criterion are used to select the optimal power curve model in the different candidate models, and avoid the model's over-fitting. Finally, to predict the annual energy production and output power of wind turbines, a two-component Weibull mixture distribution wind speed model and five-parameter logistic function power curve model are applied in a wind farm of Jiangsu Province, China. The results show that the GLSE approach proposed in this paper is feasible and effective in WPC modelling and wind power prediction, which can improve the accuracy of model parameter estimation, and five-parameter logistic function can be preferred compared with high-order polynomial and four-parameter logistic function when the fitting accuracy is close. Triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) based on triboelectrification has attracted wide attention due to its effective utilization of green energy sources such as marine energy. However, researches about liquid-liquid triboelectrification are still scanty as solid—liquid triboelectrification has been widely studied. Herein, this work focuses on the hydrophobic/slippery substrate—water interfacial triboelectrification based on the solid friction materials of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) nanoparticles. The hydrophobic/slippery substrate—water interfacial triboelectrification are studied by assembling PTFE coated Al sheets and perfluoropolyether (PFPE) infused PTFE coated Al sheets (formed the slippery lubricant-infused surfaces (SLIPSs)) as the friction electrode, and water as liquid friction materials, respectively. The results show that the hydrophobic TENG output performances improved as the PTFE nanoparticles cumulating, and the SLIPSs TENG output performances increased with the thinner PFPE thickness. Both the triboelectrification behavior of hydrophobic/SLIPSs TENG assembled in this work are dominated by the electron transfer. Thanks to the introduction of SLIPSs, the SLIPSs TENG exhibits superior stability and durability than the hydrophobic TENG. The investigation of hydrophobic/slippery substrate—water interfacial triboelectrification contributes to optimize the TENG performances, and expands the application in harsh environments including low temperature and high humidity on the ocean. Synovial fluid is made up of various biomacromolecules, including hyaluronic acid, aggrecans, lubricins, and phosphatidylcholine lipid, which are assembled onto the surface of articular cartilage in a gel state. Among them, brush-like biomacromolecules or assemblies have a vital effect on human joint lubrication. Inspired by this, the combination of brush-like molecular structures and gel-like assembly may be an efficient approach for the synthesis of biomimetic lubricating matters. Learning from the lubrication system of human joints, poly(2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine) (PMPC) brushes grafted poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-acrylic acid) (poly(NIPAAm-co-AA)) microgels, abbreviated as MBs-g-MGs, were synthesized as one kind of biomimetic lubricating additives. It is worth noting that this bionic strategy considered both molecular structure and assembled form, which enabled this hairy microgel to achieve low friction in aqueous medium. Meanwhile, the effective lubrication was still achieved when using MBs-g-MGs at high temperature, indicating that this microgel maintains a good lubricating effect over a wide range of temperature. In addition, this kind of microgel possessed good biocompatibility, which laid the foundation for potential biomedical applications. The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum causes substantial human mortality, primarily in equatorial Africa. Enriched in affected African populations, the B*53 variant of HLA-B, a cell surface protein that presents peptide antigens to cytotoxic lymphocytes, confers protection against severe malaria. Gorilla, chimpanzee, and bonobo are humans' closest living relatives. These African apes have HLA-B orthologs and are infected by parasites in the same subgenus (Laverania) as P. falciparum, but the consequences of these infections are unclear. Laverania parasites infect bonobos (Pan paniscus) at only one (TL2) of many sites sampled across their range. TL2 spans the Lomami River and has genetically divergent subpopulations of bonobos on each side. Papa-B, the bonobo ortholog of HLA-B, includes variants having a B*53-like (B07) peptide-binding supertype profile. Here we show that B07 Papa-B occur at high frequency in TL2 bonobos and that malaria appears to have independently selected for different B07 alleles in the two subpopulations. A variant of MHC class I is protective against severe malaria disease and enriched in affected African populations. In this study, the direct intercalation of gemini ionic liquids (ILs) with different alkyl chains into the bentonite (BT) interlayer as a high-performance lubricating additive for base oil 500SN was investigated. The purpose of modifying BT with an IL is to improve the dispersion stability and lubricity of BT in lubricating oil. The dispersibility and tribological properties of IL—BT as oil-based additives for 500SN depend on the increase in interlamellar space in BT and improve as the chain length is increased. More importantly, the IL—BT nanomaterial outperforms individual BT in improving wear resistance, owing to its sheet layers were deformed and sprawled in furrows along the metal surface, thereby resulting in low surface adhesion. Because of its excellent lubrication performance, IL-modified BT is a potential candidate for the main component of drilling fluid. Two-dimensional compounds combining group IV A element and group V A element were determined to integrate the advantages of the two groups. As a typical 2D group IV–V material, SiP has been widely used in photodetection and photocatalysis due to its high carrier mobility, appropriate bandgap, high thermal stability, and low interlayer cleavage energy. However, its adhesion and friction properties have not been extensively grasped. Here, large-size and high-quality SiP crystals were obtained by using the flux method. SiP nanosheets were prepared by using mechanical exfoliation. The layer-dependent and velocity-dependent nanotribological properties of SiP nanosheets were systematically investigated. The results indicate the friction force of SiP nanosheets decreases with the increase in layer number and reaches saturation after five layers. The coefficient of friction of multilayer SiP is 0.018. The mean friction force, frictional vibrations, and the friction strengthening effect can be affected by sliding velocity. Specially, the mean friction force increases with the logarithm of sliding velocity at nm/s scale, which is dominated by atomic stick-slip. The influence of frequency on frictional vibration is greater than speed due to the different influences on the change in contact quality. The friction strengthening saturation distance increases with the increase in speed for thick SiP nanosheets. These results provide an approach for manipulating the nanofriction properties of SiP and serve as a theoretical basis for the application of SiP in solid lubrication and microelectromechanical systems. Slippery lubricant-infused surfaces exhibit excellent fog-harvesting capacities compared with superhydrophobic and superhydrophilic surfaces. However, lubricant depletion is typically unavoidable under dynamic conditions, and reinfused oil is generally needed to recover the fog-harvesting capacity. Herein, an effective strategy for delaying the depletion of lubricant to prolong the service life of fog harvesting is proposed. An ultrathin transparent lubricant self-replenishing slippery surface was fabricated via facile one-step solvent evaporation polymerization. The gel film of the lubricant self-replenishing slippery surface, which was embedded with oil microdroplets, was attached to glass slides via the phase separation and evaporation of tetrahydrofuran. The gel film GFs-150 (with oil content 150 wt% of aminopropyl-terminated polydimethyl siloxane (PDMS-NH2)) exhibited superior slippery and fog-harvesting performance to other gel films. Furthermore, the slippery surfaces with the trait of oil secretion triggered by mechanical stress exhibited better fog-harvesting capabilities and longer service life than surfaces without the function of lubricant self-replenishment. Chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) harbor rich assemblages of malaria parasites, including three species closely related to P. falciparum (sub-genus Laverania), the most malignant human malaria parasite. Here, we characterize the ecology and epidemiology of malaria infection in wild chimpanzee reservoirs. We used molecular assays to screen chimpanzee fecal samples, collected longitudinally and cross-sectionally from wild populations, for malaria parasite mitochondrial DNA. We found that chimpanzee malaria parasitism has an early age of onset and varies seasonally in prevalence. A subset of samples revealed Hepatocystis mitochondrial DNA, with phylogenetic analyses suggesting that Hepatocystis appears to cross species barriers more easily than Laverania. Longitudinal and cross-sectional sampling independently support the hypothesis that mean ambient temperature drives spatiotemporal variation in chimpanzee Laverania infection. Infection probability peaked at ~24.5 °C, consistent with the empirical transmission optimum of P. falciparum in humans. Forest cover was also positively correlated with spatial variation in Laverania prevalence, consistent with the observation that forest-dwelling Anophelines are the primary vectors. Extrapolating these relationships across equatorial Africa, we map spatiotemporal variation in the suitability of chimpanzee habitat for Laverania transmission, offering a hypothetical baseline indicator of human exposure risk. Purpose: The objective of this study is to explore the effects of a mindfulness yoga treatment on emotional disorders, fatigue, pain, and health-related quality of life in early-stage breast cancer patients. Methods: The eligible 136 participants were randomly assigned 1:1 to the experimental group (mindfulness yoga + conventional care) and the control group (conventional care). The hospital anxiety and depression scale was used to assess anxiety and depression symptoms as the primary outcome. Secondary results comprised fatigue (RPFS-CV), pain (BPI-C), and health-related quality of life (FACT-B). Assessments were performed at baseline time, the 8th week, and the 20th week. Results: The Experimental group had a better prognosis in comparison with those in the control group, especially for anxiety [inter-group effect, T1: 1.18 (95% CI 0.20–2.17; P = 0.018)], depression [T1: 1.49 (95% CI 0.48–2.50; P = 0.004)] and health-related life quality [T1: − 6.34 (95% CI − 11.81 to − 0.87; P = 0.023)]. While fatigue [T1: 0.23 (95% CI − 0.24–0.69; P = 0.337); T2: 0.27 (95% CI − 0.16–0.71; P = 0.219)] and pain [T1: 1.11 (95% CI − 0.05–2.27; P = 0.060); T2: 0.68 (95% CI − 0.27–1.62; P = 0.159)] were not different between the two groups. Conclusion: In patients with early-stage breast cancer who had received adjuvant chemotherapy, treatment with mindfulness yoga is as effective as conventional care in improving physical function. To compare the diagnostic value of contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) with extracellular contrast agent-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (ECA-MRI) for the detection of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Pubmed, Embase, Web of Science and Cochrane Library were searched (1/5/2021) for studies comparing contrast-enhanced CT with ECA-MRI in patients suspected of HCC. Studies without head-to-head comparison were excluded. The pooled sensitivity, specificity and summary area under the curve (sAUC) of contrast-enhanced CT and ECA-MRI in detecting HCC was calculated based on bivariate random effects model. Heterogeneity test included threshold effect analysis and meta-regression. Subgroup analyses were conducted according to lesion size (< 20 mm or ≥ 20 mm). Overall, 10 articles containing 1333 patients were deemed suitable for inclusion in this meta-analysis. ECA-MRI displayed increased sensitivity to contrast-enhanced CT in detecting HCC (0.77 vs. 0.63, P < 0.01). The difference in specificity between ECA-MRI and contrast-enhanced CT was not statistically significant (0.93 vs. 0.94, P = 0.25). ECA-MRI yielded higher diagnostic accuracy (sAUCs = 0.88 vs. 0.80, P < 0.01). In the subgroup analysis with a lesion size < 20 mm, ECA-MRI allowed significant gains of accuracy compared to contrast-enhanced CT (0.79 vs. 0.72, P = 0.02). To supply wear-resistant coatings on AISI 310 austenitic stainless steel for harsh industry applications, Ni3Al intermetallic compound coatings were prepared by high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) spraying. Ni3Al coatings were deposited under different oxygen/fuel ratios of 4.45, 4.89 and 5.34. The phase structure, microstructure, mechanical and tribological properties of the coatings at 25 °C were investigated firstly. As a result, the HVOF oxygen/fuel ratio of 4.89 was chosen to get the best physical properties of an average porosity 1.0 vol.%, thickness 290 μm, hardness 527 ± 16 HV, friction coefficient 0.75 and wear rate 1.74 × 10− 5 mm3/(N·m). Then tribological tests across a wide temperature range from 25 to 800 °C were carried out on the optimized coating: the coating presented the highest anti-friction and wear resistance at 600 °C, a continuous and dense oxide layer comprised of NiO, Ni2O3, Al2O3 and NiAl2O4 was formed and acted as a solid lubricant, and contributed a relatively low friction coefficient of 0.57 and wear rate of 8.91 × 10− 5 mm3/(N·m). The human parasite Plasmodium malariae has relatives infecting African apes (Plasmodium rodhaini) and New World monkeys (Plasmodium brasilianum), but its origins remain unknown. Using a novel approach to characterise P. malariae-related sequences in wild and captive African apes, we found that this group comprises three distinct lineages, one of which represents a previously unknown, highly divergent species infecting chimpanzees, bonobos and gorillas across central Africa. A second ape-derived lineage is much more closely related to the third, human-infective lineage P. malariae, but exhibits little evidence of genetic exchange with it, and so likely represents a separate species. Moreover, the levels and nature of genetic polymorphisms in P. malariae indicate that it resulted from the zoonotic transmission of an African ape parasite, reminiscent of the origin of P. falciparum. In contrast, P. brasilianum falls within the radiation of human P. malariae, and thus reflects a recent anthroponosis. Plasmodium malariae is a cause of malaria in humans and related species have been identified in non-human primates. Purpose: To evaluate whether the Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS) v2018 LR-5 criteria can be modified to increase sensitivity without reducing specificity for diagnosing 10–19 mm hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) on gadoxetic acid-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Methods: A total of 133 high-risk consecutive patients with 174 small observations (10–19 mm) detected on gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI were retrospectively studied. LI-RADS MRI major features (MFs) and ancillary features (AFs) were reviewed by two independent radiologists in consensus. Observations were categorized using LI-RADS v2018 MFs. Independently significant AFs were identified through logistic regression analysis. Upgraded LR-5 criteria were developed by combining independently significant AFs with MFs of LR-3 or LR-4 v2018. The sensitivity and specificity of the new diagnostic criteria were compared with those of LR-5 v2018 using McNemar's test. Results: Three of the AFs favoring malignancy [mild–moderate T2 hyperintensity, transitional phase (TP) hypointensity and fat in mass] were independently significant features for diagnosing 10–19 mm HCC. The upgraded LR-5 criteria (mLI-RADS VII: LR-4 + mild–moderate T2 hyperintensity/TP hypointensity or LR-3 + fat in mass) yielded a significantly greater sensitivity than that of the LR-5 v2018 criteria (70.4% vs 55.1%; p < 0.001), whereas the specificity was not significantly different (94.7% vs 98.7%, p = 0.250). Conclusions: Independently significant AFs may be used to upgrade an observation from LR-3/LR-4 to LR-5, which can improve the sensitivity without impairing the specificity for diagnosing 10–19 mm HCC on gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI. Purpose: To assess the influence of region of interest (ROI) placement on the predictive value of 3D MRE in differentiating the histologic grade of HCC. Methods: 85 patients with pathologically confirmed HCCs were analyzed using 3D MRE imaging, two radiologists measured the tumor stiffness with three different ROI positioning methods. Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) was expressed in terms of inter- and intra-observer agreements. Kruskal–Wallis rank test or one-way ANOVA was used to compare the difference in MRE stiffness across the three-ROI positioning methods. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis (ROC) was performed, and the area under curve (AUC) was measured to evaluate the diagnostic performance. Results: There were 64 (75%) well-or-moderately differentiated HCCs and 21(25%) poorly differentiated HCCs included finally. Almost excellent inter- and intra-observer agreements (all ICC > 0.82) were observed for all three-ROI methods, the volumetric method has the highest values (inter-observer ICC 0.967, intra-observer ICC 0.919, 0.926, respectively). The mean stiffnesses of poorly differentiated HCC obtained by two readers were significantly higher than well-or-moderately differentiated HCC with volumetric method (7.07 ± 1.57 Kpa, 5.00 ± 1.49 Kpa, and 6.85 ± 1.49 Kpa, 4.94 ± 1.48 Kpa, respectively) and three-ROI method (6.14 ± 1.71 Kpa, 4.91 ± 1.56 Kpa and 5.94 ± 1.61 Kpa, 4.84 ± 1.54 Kpa, respectively) but not on single-ROI method (p > 0.005), for the diagnostic performance, the highest area under the curve (AUC) with a value of 0.837, 0.812 by using the volumetric method, followed by the three-ROI method (0.713, 0.754) and single-ROI method. Conclusion: Different ROI positioning methods significantly affect HCC tumor stiffness measurements. Purpose: To evaluate the value of gadobenate dimeglumine–enhanced MRI in predicting the pathologic grade of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Materials and methods: Patients with pathologically proven HCC who underwent preoperative gadobenate dimeglumine–enhanced dynamic MRI were included. Two radiologists blinded to pathology results evaluated images in consensus. Lesions were evaluated quantitatively in terms of ratio of enhancement (RE), and qualitatively based on image features related to tumor aggressiveness. Logistic regression and ROC analyses were used to determine the value of these parameters to predict pathologic grade. Results: In total, 221 patients (194 males, 27 females, aged 52.9 ± 11.7 years) with 49 poorly differentiated HCCs and 172 well/moderately differentiated HCCs were evaluated. Features significantly related to poorer pathologic grade at univariate analysis included lower RE in the early arterial phase (EAP) (p = 0.001), nonsmooth margins (p = 0.001), absence of capsule (p < 0.001), arterial peritumoral hyperenhancement (p < 0.001), higher AFP (p = 0.004), multiple tumors (p = 0.026), and larger tumor size (p = 0.028). At multivariate analysis, lower RE (EAP) (OR = 0.144, p = 0.002), absence of capsule (OR = 0.281, p = 0.004), and arterial peritumoral hyperenhancement (OR = 4.117, p < 0.001) were independent predictive factors for poorer pathologic grade. ROC analysis showed lower RE (EAP) was predictive of poorer pathologic grade (AUC = 0.667). AUC increased to 0.797 when combined with absence of capsule and presence of peritumoral hyperenhancement. Conclusions: Lower RE (EAP), absence of capsule, and arterial peritumoral hyperenhancement were predictive biomarkers for poorer pathologic grade of HCC on gadobenate dimeglumine–enhanced dynamic MRI. The high specific-strength of glass fibers and exceptional self-lubrication of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) fibers promote the potential application of hybrid PTFE/glass fabric composites in the tribological field, but their weak interfacial adhesion and inferior thermal properties significantly inhibit their tribological performance and reliability. Herein, a hybrid of polydopamine/silicon carbide/polyethyleneimine (PDA/SiC/PEI) functional coating was co-deposited onto the hybrid PTFE/glass fabric surface through a one-step impregnation method, leading to increased surface roughness and abundant amine groups. Tensile and peeling tests showed that this functional coating offered 47.8% enhancement in the fabric/matrix interfacial adhesion without compromising the strength of the pristine fabric. Moreover, the additional incorporation of WS2, and aluminum nitride (AlN) micro-fillers contributed to the development of a high-quality tribofilm and improved the thermal properties of fabric composites. The results of wear tests proved that the hybrid-fabric composites, after the introduction of functional coating and micro-fillers, exhibited outstanding tribological performance, which was attributed to the superior interfacial adhesion as well as the synergistic enhancement effects between WS2 and AlN micro-fillers. The development of a high-performance solid-lubricating composite with excellent self-lubricity over a broad temperature range in vacuum is significant to solve the frictional problems of spatial mechanisms. In this study, the vacuum tribological behaviors of nickel-matrix/Ag/(Ca, Ba)F2/graphite (0–2 wt%) composites were studied from 25 to 800 °C. The results show that the synergistic effects of solid lubricants can significantly improve the tribological properties of the composites in vacuum, with the graphite content contributing considerably. For 2 wt% graphite, a low friction coefficient (0.14–0.25) and the lowest wear rate ((0.12−4.78)×10−5 mm3·N−1·m−1) were observed in vacuum over the entire testing temperature range. A hallmark of subclinical atherosclerosis is the accumulation of vascular smooth muscle cell (SMC)-like cells leading to intimal thickening and lesion formation. While medial SMCs contribute to vascular lesions, the involvement of resident vascular stem cells (vSCs) remains unclear. We evaluated single cell photonics as a discriminator of cell phenotype in vitro before the presence of vSC within vascular lesions was assessed ex vivo using supervised machine learning and further validated using lineage tracing analysis. Using a novel lab-on-a-Disk(Load) platform, label-free single cell photonic emissions from normal and injured vessels ex vivo were interrogated and compared to freshly isolated aortic SMCs, cultured Movas SMCs, macrophages, B-cells, S100β+ mVSc, bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) and their respective myogenic progeny across five broadband light wavelengths (λ465 - λ670 ± 20 nm). We found that profiles were of sufficient coverage, specificity, and quality to clearly distinguish medial SMCs from different vascular beds (carotid vs aorta), discriminate normal carotid medial SMCs from lesional SMC-like cells ex vivo following flow restriction, and identify SMC differentiation of a series of multipotent stem cells following treatment with transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF- β1), the Notch ligand Jagged1, and Sonic Hedgehog using multivariate analysis, in part, due to photonic emissions from enhanced collagen III and elastin expression. Supervised machine learning supported genetic lineage tracing analysis of S100β+ vSCs and identified the presence of S100β+vSC-derived myogenic progeny within vascular lesions. Based on wind speed, direction and power data, an assessment method of wind energy potential using finite mixture statistical distributions is proposed. Considering the correlation existing and the effect between wind speed and direction, the angular-linear modeling approach is adopted to construct the joint probability density function of wind speed and direction. For modeling the distribution of wind power density and estimating model parameters of null or low wind speed and multimodal wind speed data, based on expectation–maximization algorithm, a two-component three-parameter Weibull mixture distribution is chosen as wind speed model, and a von Mises mixture distribution with nine components and six components are selected as the models of wind direction and the correlation circular variable between wind speed and direction, respectively. A comprehensive technique of model selection, which includes Akaike information criterion, Bayesian information criterion, the coefficient of determination R2 and root mean squared error, is used to select the optimal model in all candidate models. The proposed method is applied to averaged 10-min field monitoring wind data and compared with the other estimation methods and judged by the values of R2 and root mean squared error, histogram plot and wind rose diagram. The results show that the proposed method is effective and the area under study is not suitable for wide wind turbine applications, and the estimated wind energy potential would be inaccuracy without considering the influence of wind direction. A series of new halogen-free dicationic ionic liquids (ILs) with different alkyl chain lengths were prepared, and the relationship between the alkyl chain length, physicochemical and tribological properties of ILs, and their role as neat lubricant for steel-steel friction pairs, was investigated. Evaluation of stability during hydrolysis and copper strip corrosion test results show that synthetic ILs are stable and not corrosive to metal contacts, due to the halogen-free anions. The friction and wear test results indicate that ILs with long alkyl chains have excellent friction-reducing and anti-wear properties, especially at high temperatures. Based on the surface three-dimensional (3D) profiles, electrical contact resistance, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and the X-ray photoelectron spectrometry (XPS) analysis of the worn surfaces of steel discs, we can conclude that the efficiency of ILs is due to the formation of high quality tribofilms that consist of both tribochemical reaction and ordered absorption films. Taking 1,4-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid (1,4-ND), 2,3-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid (2,3-ND) and tetrabutyl ammonium hydroxide (N4444OH), tetrabutyl phosphonium hydroxide (P4444OH) as raw materials, water-based lubricant additives tetrabutyl ammonium 1,4-naphthalene dicarboxylate (1,4-NDN4444), tetrabutyl phosphonium 1,4-naphthalene dicarboxylate (1,4-NDP4444), tetrabutyl ammonium 2,3-naphthalene dicarboxylate (2,3-NDN4444), and tetrabutyl phosphonium 2,3-naphthalene dicarboxylate (2,3-NDP4444) were prepared in aqueous solution. The additives are not only simple to prepare, but also have good solubility in water. More importantly, they can significantly improve the friction reducing and anti-wear performances of water. On account of the mechanism analysis, it is estimated that the introduction of aromatic ring and more carboxyl groups to the additives play an important role for them to form stable lubrication protective films during the friction process and then to achieve excellent lubrication performance on steel/steel, copper/steel, and aluminum/steel friction pairs. Remarkably, the performances of 2,3-NDN4444 and 2,3-NDP4444 are superior to those of 1,4-NDN4444 and 1,4-NDP4444, which is ascribed to their stronger adsorption on the metal surfaces contributed by the two adsorption targets (two –COO− groups). For 1,4-NDN4444 and 1,4-NDP4444, there is only one –COO− group that can be simultaneously adsorbed on the metal surfaces from the perspective of space configuration. It weakens the adsorption and decreases the effectiveness of the lubrication protective films resulting in the reduced friction reducing and anti-wear properties of 1,4-NDN4444 and 1,4-NDP4444. Microarray has indicated a huge number of miRNAs exist in reproductive tissues and cells. Moreover, the expression of miRNA in the reproductive system varies under the strict monitoring of different regulations. To understand the role of miRNA-mediated post-transcriptional gene regulation in female reproduction, we investigated the level and function of a mir-let-7 family member in both mice and human uterine receptivity. As we observed, mir-let-7 a/g had a higher expression in mouse and human receptive uterine epithelium; the level of mir-let-7a was under the inverse regulation of estrogen and progesterone; upregulated mir-let-7a/g in mouse and human uterine epithelium increased uterine receptivity, thus improved implantation-related embryo attachment and outgrowth ability; the let-7a/g enhanced uterine receptivity through suppressing canonical Wnt signaling. Fabric composites are widely applied as self-lubricating liner for radial spherical plain bearings owing to their excellent mechanical and tribological properties. Nevertheless, the poor interfacial strength between fibers and the resin matrix limits the performance of composites utilized as tribo-materials. To overcome this drawback, a mild layer-by-layer (LbL) self-assembly method was successfully used to construct hybrid fabric composites in the present work. In addition, this investigation addressed the effect of self-assembly cycles on the friction and wear behaviors of hybrid fabric composites under dry sliding condition. The results demonstrate that fabric composites with three or more self-assembly cycles have significantly enhanced surface activities and anti-wear performances. The results obtained in this work can provide guidance in the preparation of selflubricating liner composites and highlight how the LbL self-assembly techniques could influence the properties of hybrid fabric composites. Fluorescence-based technologies have revolutionized in vivo monitoring of biomolecules. However, significant technical hurdles in both probe chemistry and complex cellular environments have limited the accuracy of quantifying these biomolecules. Herein, we report a generalizable engineering strategy for dual-emission anti-Kasha-active fluorophores, which combine an integrated fluorescein with chromene (IFC) building block with donor-π-acceptor structural modification. These fluorophores exhibit an invariant near-infrared Kasha emission from the S1 state, while their anti-Kasha emission from the S2 state at around 520 nm can be finely regulated via a spirolactone open/closed switch. We introduce bio-recognition moieties to IFC structures, and demonstrate ratiometric quantification of cysteine and glutathione in living cells and animals, using the ratio (S2/S1) with the S1 emission as a reliable internal reference signal. This de novo strategy of tuning anti-Kasha-active properties expands the in vivo ratiometric quantification toolbox for highly accurate analysis in both basic life science research and clinical applications. Although aluminum alloy 7075-T651 is widely used in the automobile and aircraft manufacturing industries, its durability must often be increased by improving the surface properties of components to better resist wear and oxidation. We propose herein the deposition of copper–graphite solid lubricating coating on aluminum alloy 7075-T651 by using the low-pressure cold-spraying technique. The microstructure, deposition efficiency, mechanical properties, and dry sliding wear behavior of the copper–graphite coatings were investigated. The results showed that addition of Cu-coated graphite particles could decrease the plastic deformation of adjacent copper particles in the coatings. The deposition efficiency, hardness, and bonding strength of the copper–graphite coatings decreased (by 49%, 21%, and 70%, respectively) with an increase in the Cu-coated graphite content in the feedstock from 0 to 20 wt.%. The copper–graphite coating with Cu-coated graphite content of 20 wt.% showed the lowest friction coefficient (about 0.15) and wear rate (6.00 × 10−5 mm3/N m). Compared with aluminum alloy 7075-T651, the friction coefficient and wear rate were decreased by 57% and 78%, respectively, which can mainly be ascribed to the formation of a low-shear-strength graphite-rich solid lubricating film on the worn surface. When the Cu-coated graphite content exceeded 10 wt.%, the dominant wear mechanism changed to mild abrasive wear, in contrast to the oxidative wear of the pure copper coating. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Support vector data description (SVDD), an efficient one-class classification method, captures the spherically shaped boundary around the same class data and achieves classification for setting the boundary related to support vectors (SVs). As SVDD constructs an irregular hypersphere in high-dimensional space, it is unreasonable to keep the classification boundary a constant value. When the classification dataset is complicated, constant classification boundary will decrease the accuracy of classification. In this paper, we present a dynamic hypersphere SVDD (DH-SVDD) without describing boundary for one-class classification. In training process, important SVs of training dataset describe the static hypersphere. In testing process, dynamic hypersphere is described according to the new important SVs of the testing sample and training dataset. If there is a significant change of hypersphere structure, it means the new sample is an outlier. In this method, without any classification boundary, it can complete one-class classification with fully considering the related information of new sample and historical dataset. Thus, it can significantly improve the one-class classification accuracy of SVDD in complex datasets. Comparison is conducted among the proposed DH-SVDD, K-chart SVDD, Max limit SVDD and Validation limit SVDD. The effectiveness of the proposed method is also verified by the experimental UCI datasets. To enhance the lubricating and extreme pressure (EP) performance of base oils, two types of oil-soluble ionic liquids (ILs) with similar anion albeit dissimilar cations were synthesized. The physical properties of the prepared ILs were measured. The anticorrosion properties of ILs were assessed by conducting corrosion tests on steel discs and copper strips, which revealed the remarkable anticorrosion properties of the ILs in comparison with those of the commercial additive zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP). The tribological properties of the two ILs as additives for poly-α-olefin-10 (PAO10) with various mass concentrations were investigated. The tribological test results indicate that these ILs as additives are capable of reducing friction and wear of sliding contacts remarkably as well as enhance the EP performance of blank PAO10. Under similar test conditions, these IL additives exhibit higher lubricating and anti-wear (AW) performances than those of ZDDP based additive package in PAO10. Subsequently, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) were conducted to study the lubricating mechanism of the two ILs.
