Robertson (4) Keywords: Key words Sepsis; Endotoxin; Nitric oxide; Pulmonary surfactant; Acute respiratory distress syndrome; Respiratory therapy Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of surfactant and inhaled nitric oxide (iNO) in endotoxin-induced acute lung injury (ALI).APDesign: Prospective, randomised, controlled experimental study.APSetting: A medical university hospital research laboratory.APIntervention: Twenty-nine adult rabbits (2.4--3.4 kg) were given two doses of intravenous endotoxin (Escherichia coli) (0.01 mg/kg and, 12 h later, 0.1 mg/kg), and then subjected to mechanical ventilation. After 8 h these animals were allocated to four treatment groups: (1) control, (2) iNO at 20 ppm (NO), (3) surfactant at 100 mg/kg (Surf) and (4) both surfactant and iNO as in groups 2 and 3 (SNO), and ventilated for a further 6 h followed by broncho-alveolar lavage (BAL), analysis of surfactant contents in BAL fluid and histological examination of the lungs.APMeasurements and results: All the animals had developed ALI with respiratory failure 8 h after the second dose of endotoxin as evidenced by a decrease of PaO.sub.2/FIO.sub.2 from 520 +- 30 to 395 +- 19 mmHg and dynamic compliance (Cdyn) from 1.20 +- 0.11 to 0.73 +- 0.05 ml/cm[H.sub.2]O x kg, and an increase of intrapulmonary shunting (Qs/Qt) from 7.5 +- 0.8 % to 12.9 +- 1.0 % (all measurements p < 0.01 versus baseline). In the SNO group, values for PaO.sub.2/FIO.sub.2, Cdyn and Qs/Qt after 6 h were 301 +- 15 mmHg, 0.67 +- 0.05 ml/cm[H.sub.2]O x kg and 16.5 +- 0.8 %, compared to 224 +- 26 mmHg, 0.53 +- 0.04 ml/cm[H.sub.2]O x kg and 24.1 +- 2.0 %, respectively, in the control group (all measurements p < 0.01). Both Surf and NO groups showed intermediate levels of these parameters. In both Surf and SNO groups, the minimum surface tension of BAL fluid was lower, and the content of disaturated phosphatidylcholine/total protein higher, than in the control and NO groups (p < 0.01). Histological features of lung injury were less prominent and wet/dry lung weight ratio lower in the NO, Surf and SNO groups. Decreased surfactant protein A (SP-A) and its mRNA expression were found in all endotoxin-exposed groups, but the SP-A content of the SNO group was moderately improved in comparison to the control group. Surfactant aggregate size was not affected.APConclusion: Early application of surfactant and iNO moderately mitigated ALI as reflected by improvement of lung mechanics, pulmonary perfusion and morphology. Key Message: QKl/Tgw/Gns.yaas-2D associates with KL, TGW, and GNS, and QKl/Tgw.yaas-5A associates with KL and TGW. Significantly pleiotropic and additive effects of these two QTL were validated. The YM5 allele both at QKl/Tgw/Gns.yaas-2D and QKl/Tgw.yaas-5A was proved to be the best allelic combination for improving yield potential. Kernel length (KL), kernel width (KW), thousand grain weight (TGW), and grain number per spike (GNS) play important roles in the yield improvement of wheat. In this study, one recombinant inbred line (RIL) derived from a cross between Yangmai 5 (YM5) and Yanzhan 1 (YZ1) was used to identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) associated with KL, KW, TGW, and GNS across three years. Two pleiotropic QTL namely QKl/Tgw/Gns.yaas-2D and QKl/Tgw.yaas-5A were located in two genomic regions on chromosomes 2D and 5A, respectively. Breeder-friendly Kompetitive Allele-Specific PCR (KASP) markers for QKl/Tgw/Gns.yaas-2D and QKl/Tgw.yaas-5A were developed and validated in a set of 246 wheat cultivars/lines. Analysis of allelic combinations indicated that the YM5 allele both at QKl/Tgw/Gns.yaas-2D and QKl/Tgw.yaas-5A is probably the best one to promote TGW, GNS, and grain weight per spike. Based on the analysis of gene annotation, sequence variations, expression patterns, and GO enrichment, twenty-five and twenty-four candidate genes of QKl/Tgw/Gns.yaas-2D and QKl/Tgw.yaas-5A, respectively, were identified. Key Message: The SBP-box transcription factor PlSPL2 silencing in herbaceous peony enhanced stem strength by regulating xylem development, whereas its overexpression in tobacco resulted in weaker stem strength and undeveloped xylem. The strength of plant stems is a critical determinant of lodging resistance of plants, which significantly affects crop yield and cut-flower quality. Squamosa promoter binding (SBP) protein-like (SPL) transcription factors (TFs), participate in multiple regulatory processes, particularly in stem development. In this study, PlSPL2, an orthologous gene of Arabidopsis AtSPL2 in herbaceous peony, was isolated and found to contain a conserved SBP domain featuring two typical Zn-binding sites, as well as a nuclear localization sequence (NLS). Subsequently, transient infection of tobacco leaf epidermal cells using Agrobacterium confirmed the nuclear localization of PISPL2 protein. Additionally, gene expression analyses revealed that PlSPL2 was preferentially expressed in stems, and demonstrated a download trend in expression levels within vascular bundles during stem cell wall development. Furthermore, silencing of PlSPL2 in herbaceous peony enhanced stem strength. The silenced plants exhibited more developed xylems with wider radii and higher numbers of cell layers. Overexpression of PlSPL2 in tobacco, however, resulted in weaker stem strength, accompanied by a narrower radius of the xylem. These findings suggested that PlSPL2 was a negative regulator of herbaceous peony stem development, and its discovery and research could significantly contribute to a deeper understanding of stem growth and development mechanisms., (© 2024. Key Message: A major stable QTL, QGPC.caas-7AL, for grain protein content of wheat, was narrowed down to a 1.82-Mb inter on chromosome 7AL, and four candidate genes were predicated. Wheat grain protein content (GPC) is important for end-use quality. Identification of genetic loci for GPC is helpful to create new varieties with good processing quality and nutrients. Zhongmai 578 (ZM578) and Jimai 22 (JM22) are two elite wheat varieties with different contents of GPC. In the present study, 262 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) derived from a cross between ZM578 and JM22 were used to map the GPC with high-density wheat Illumina iSelect 50 K single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array. Seven quantitative trait loci (QTLs) were identified for GPC on chromosomes 3AS, 3AL, 3BS, 4AL, 5BS, 5DL and 7AL by inclusive composite interval mapping, designated as QGPC.caas-3AS, QGPC.caas-3AL, QGPC.caas-3BS, QGPC.caas-4AL, QGPC.caas-5BS, QGPC.caas-5DL and QGPC.caas-7AL, respectively. Among these, alleles for increasing GPC at QGPC.caas-3AS, QGPC.caas-3BS, QGPC.caas-4AL and QGPC.caas-7AL loci were contributed by ZM578, whereas those at the other three loci were from JM22. The stable QTL QGPC.caas-7AL was fine mapped to a 1.82-Mb physical interval using secondary populations from six heterozygous recombinant plants obtained by selfing a residual RIL. Four genes were predicted as candidates of QGPC.caas-7AL based on sequence polymorphism and expression patterns. The near-isogenic lines (NILs) with the favorable allele at the QGPC.caas-7AL locus increased Farinograph stability time, Extensograph extension area, extensibility and maximum resistance by 19.6%, 6.3%, 6.0% and 20.3%, respectively. Kompetitive allele-specific PCR (KASP) marker for QGPC.caas-7AL was developed and validated in a diverse panel of 166 Chinese wheat cultivars. These results provide further insight into the genetic basis of GPC, and the fine-mapped QGPC.caas-7AL will be an attractive target for map-based cloning and marker-assisted selection in wheat breeding programs., (© 2024. As a significant component of executive function, goal-directed attentional control is crucial for cognitive processing and is closely linked to frontal-midline theta (FMT) rhythms. However, how up-regulation and down-regulation of FMT through neurofeedback training (NFT) impact goal-directed attention control remains unclear, especially for both short-term and long-lasting effects. Therefore, this study employed a single-blind sham-controlled between-subject design to answer this question. Forty-seven healthy adults were randomly assigned to the up-regulation, down-regulation, or sham control groups. Each group underwent one NFT session per day at the Fz electrode site for four consecutive days. All participants completed a visual search task before, immediately after the first, after the final, and one week following the last NFT session. The down-regulation group significantly reduced FMT activity during NFT and in the resting state (p < = 0.038), while the up-regulation group only showed an upward trend during the training phase (r = 0.721, p = 0.002). The behavioral performance showed no significant improvement in any group (p > 0.05). Importantly, the FMT learning efficacy in the up-regulation group revealed a significantly negative correlation with the change in switch cost (r = -0.602, p = 0.046). These findings suggest a close link between the up-regulation efficacy of FMT rhythms and goal-directed attentional control. In educational or clinical settings, it would be desirable to improve goal-directed attention through enhancement of FMT up-regulation efficacy of NFT in future work., (© 2024. Background: Perioperative chemotherapy is the standard treatment modality for locally advanced gastric cancer. However, the efficacy and indication of adjuvant chemotherapy in patients who have already received neoadjuvant chemotherapy remain unclear. This study aims to explore the association between adjuvant chemotherapy with patient prognosis in those who have received neoadjuvant chemotherapy plus D2 gastrectomy in a real-world setting, and whether this association is affected by the duration of neoadjuvant treatment., Patients and Methods: A total of 174 patients with cT3-4N+ gastric cancer who had received neoadjuvant chemotherapy plus D2 radical gastrectomy were included in the study. Kaplan-Meier curves and log-rank tests were used to assess and compare the survival outcomes between patients who received adjuvant therapy and those who did not., Results: Patients who were younger age, had a lower American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) grade, did not experience postoperative complication, and received fewer than six cycles of neoadjuvant chemotherapy were more likely to receive adjuvant chemotherapy, rather than those with advanced ypTNM stage or poor tumor regression grade. Patients who received adjuvant therapy had a better overall survival (OS) (2-year OS rate 86.2% versus 64.1%, p = 0.002). Adjuvant therapy was associated with longer survival in patients who remained ypTNM stage III despite receiving at least six cycles of neoadjuvant chemotherapy. However, there was no significant longer survival observed in patients with ypTNM stages 0-II receiving adjuvant chemotherapy, even when they received less than six cycles of neoadjuvant chemotherapy., Conclusions: Patients with locally advanced gastric cancer may still need adjuvant chemotherapy, even after receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The value of adjuvant chemotherapy after neoadjuvant chemotherapy depends more on the actual downstaging effect achieved after neoadjuvant chemotherapy, rather than the completion of "full intended" cycles of perioperative treatment., (© 2024. Context: We rationalize the excellent performance of information-theoretic descriptors for predicting atomic and molecular polarizabilities. It seems that descriptors which capture information about the change in valence-shell structure, especially the relative Fisher information measures, are particularly useful. In clinical practice, the morphology of the left atrial appendage (LAA) plays an important role in the selection of LAA closure devices for LAA closure procedures. The morphology determination is influenced by the segmentation results. The LAA occupies only a small part of the entire 3D medical image, and the segmentation results are more likely to be biased towards the background region, making the segmentation of the LAA challenging. In this paper, we propose a lightweight attention mechanism called fusion attention, which imitates human visual behavior. We process the 3D image of the LAA using a method that involves overview observation followed by detailed observation. In the overview observation stage, the image features are pooled along the three dimensions of length, width, and height. The obtained features from the three dimensions are then separately input into the spatial attention and channel attention modules to learn the regions of interest. In the detailed observation stage, the attention results from the previous stage are fused using element-wise multiplication and combined with the original feature map to enhance feature learning. The fusion attention mechanism was evaluated on a left atrial appendage dataset provided by Liaoning Provincial People's Hospital, resulting in an average Dice coefficient of 0.8855. The results indicate that the fusion attention mechanism achieves better segmentation results on 3D images compared to existing lightweight attention mechanisms., (© 2024. The balance between oxidation and antioxidation is crucial for the development of embryo. It is harmful to the early embryonic development if embryonic stem cells (ESCs) encounter the serious oxidative stress in vivo. Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are very similar to ESCs and are the important cell source to replace ESCs for research and therapy. Studies show that iPSCs have better resistant ability to oxidative stress, but the involved mechanism remains unclear. In this study, we predicted that the NF-κB pathway might be involved in H 2 O 2 -induced developmental damage by network toxicology analysis. Then, the oxidative stress model was established with different concentrations of H 2 O 2 to investigate the mechanism of NF-κB pathway in oxidative stress of human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs). The results showed as follows: With the increase of H 2 O 2 concentration, the ROS level gradually went up leading to an increasing damage degree of hiPSCs; however, the MDA content was obviously high only in the 400 μM H 2 O 2 group; the activities of some antioxidant indexes such as SOD2 and T-AOC were significantly upregulated in the 100 μM group, while most of antioxidant indexes showed downregulated tendency to different degrees with the increase of H 2 O 2 concentration. The expression levels of P65, P50, IκB, SOD2, and FHC mRNA were upregulated in most H 2 O 2 -treated groups, showing a dose-dependent relationship. In subsequent experiments, the inhibitor of IκB-α phosphorylation, Bay11-7082, reversed the upregulation of P65, IκB, and FHC mRNA expression induced by 400 μM H 2 O 2 . The protein levels of P65, p-P65, P50, p-P50, IκB, p-IκB, SOD2, and FHC were upregulated in most H 2 O 2 -treated groups. However, the upregulation induced by 400 μM H 2 O 2 could be reversed by BAY 11-7082, except for IκB and SOD2. In conclusion, H 2 O 2 could promote the expressions and phosphorylations of NF-κB that could upregulate the expressions of its downstream antioxidant genes to minimize the damage of hiPSCs caused by oxidative stress. These results contribute to a fundamental understanding of the antioxidant mechanism of iPSCs and will further facilitate the application of iPSCs, as well as provide a reference for controlling the oxidative stress encountered in the early development stage of embryo., (© 2024. Background: Perioperative chemotherapy is the standard treatment for locally advanced gastric cancer. However, the potential benefit of extending therapy before surgery remains largely unknown. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of total neoadjuvant chemotherapy, with or without immune checkpoint blockade., Methods: A cohort of 174 patients with clinical stage III gastric cancer who underwent D2 gastrectomy from October 2021 to March 2024 in the real-world setting were included in this study. Among these patients, 101 were treated with total neoadjuvant therapy (TNT) and 73 were treated with perioperative neoadjuvant therapy (PNT). We compared the pathologic complete response (pCR) rate, ypN0 rate, recurrence-free survival (RFS), overall survival (OS), and postoperative complications between the 2 groups. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify factors associated with pCR or ypN0., Results: Compared with the PNT group, the patients in the TNT group were more frequently treated with intensive chemotherapy with triplets + immunotherapy. Apart from this, there were no significant differences in baseline characteristics. There were no statistically significant differences in pCR (16.8% vs 12.3%), ypN0 (49.5% vs 38.4%), RFS, OS, and postoperative complications (27.7% vs 26.0%) between the TNT and PNT groups. Older age, diffuse type, and stable disease/progressive disease based on clinical efficacy evaluation were independently associated with non-pCR. Stable disease/progressive disease, linitis plastica, and poor differentiation were independently associated with ypN+. Neither the number of neoadjuvant therapy cycles nor the specific regimens were associated with pCR or ypN0. In the subgroup analysis of patients receiving total gastrectomy, there were still no statistically significant differences in pCR (16.7% vs 2.6%), ypN0 (43.8% vs 39.5%), and postoperative complications (45.8% vs 36.8%) between the 2 groups., Conclusion: Although TNT did not increase the postoperative complication rate, it also did not provide any additional short-term benefits compared with PNT for clinical stage III gastric cancer., Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest The authors declare no competing interests., (Copyright © 2024 Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract. Controlling and reducing plaque formation plays a pivotal role in preventing and treating periodontal disease, often utilizing antibacterial drugs to enhance therapeutic outcomes. Mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN), an FDA-approved inorganic nanomaterial, possess robust physical and chemical properties, such as adjustable pore size and pore capacity, easy surface modification, and high biosafety. Numerous studies have exploited MSN to regulate drug release and facilitate targeted delivery. This study aimed to synthesize an MSN-tetracycline (MSN-TC) complex and investigate its inhibitory potential on Porphyromonas gingivalis (P. gingivalis)-induced bone resorption. The antibacterial efficacy of MSN-TC was evaluated through bacterial culture experiments. A P. gingivalis-induced bone resorption model was constructed by subcutaneously injecting P. gingivalis around the cranial bone of rats. Micro-computed tomography was employed to assess the inhibitory impact of MSN and MSN-TC on bone resorption. Furthermore, the influence of MSN and MSN-TC on osteoclast differentiation was examined in vitro. The MSN exhibited optimal pore size and particle dimensions for effective loading and gradual release of TC. MSN-TC demonstrated significant bacteriostatic activity against P. gingivalis. MSN-TC-treated rats showed significantly reduced cranial bone tissue destruction compared to MSN or TC-treated rats. Additionally, both MSN and MSN-TC exhibited inhibitory effects on the receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-Β ligand-mediated osteoclast differentiation. The MSN-TC complex synthesized in this study demonstrated dual efficacy by exerting antibacterial effects on P. gingivalis and by resisting osteoclast differentiation, thereby mitigating bone resorption induced by P. gingivalis., (© 2024. Context: Electrophilicity and nucleophilicity are two vastly important chemical concepts gauging the capability of atoms in molecules to accept and donate the maximal number of electrons. In our earlier studies, we proposed to simultaneously quantify them using the Kullback-Leibler divergence from the information-theoretic approach in density functional theory. However, several issues with this scheme remain to be clarified such as its general validity, predictability, and relationship with other information-theoretic quantities. In this work, we revisit the matter with bigger datasets and deeper theoretical insights. Five information-theoretic quantities including Kullback-Leibler divergence, Hirshfeld charge, Ghost-Berkowitz-Parr entropy, and second and third orders of relative Onicescu information energy are found to be reliable and robust descriptors of electrophilicity and nucleophilicity propensities. Employing these five descriptors, we design a list of new compounds and predict their electrophilicity and nucleophilicity scales. This work should markedly improve our confidence and capability in applying information-theoretic quantities to evaluate electrophilicity and nucleophilicity propensities and henceforth pave the route for more applications of these quantities from information-theoretic approach in density functional theory in the future., Methods: All structures were fully optimized at the M06-2X/6-311 + G(d) level of DFT functional using the Gaussian 16 package (version C01) with integration grids and tight self-consistent-field convergence. The solvent effect was taken into account by using the implicit solvent model (CPCM) in the CH 2 Cl 2 solvent, and all 3D contour surfaces of Fukui function, local temperature, and ITA (information-theoretic approach) quantities were generated by GaussView. Purpose: In clinical practice, the success of preimplantation genetic testing for monogenic diseases (PGT-M) for thalassemia was hindered by the absence of probands, incomplete family members, or failure in detecting embryonic gene mutation sites. This study aimed to address these issues., Methods: This retrospective study included 342 couples undergoing PGT-M for α- or β-thalassemia at three reproductive medicine centers from 2019 to 2022. Various methods were used to construct parental haplotypes. A total of 1778 embryos were analyzed and selected for transfer based on chromosomal ploidy and PGT-M results. Follow-up involved amniocentesis results and clinical outcomes., Results: Haplotypes were established using DNA samples from probands or parents, as well as sibling blood samples, single sperm, and affected embryos, achieving an overall success rate was 99.4% (340/342). For α-thalassemia and β-thalassemia, the concordance between embryo single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) haplotype analysis results and mutation loci detection results was 93.8% (1011/1078) and 98.2% (538/548), respectively. Multiple annealing and looping-based amplification cycles (MALBAC) showed a higher whole genome amplification success rate than multiple displacement amplification (MDA) (98.8% (1031/1044) vs. 96.2% (703/731), p < 0.001). Amniocentesis confirmed PGT-M outcomes in 100% of cases followed up (99/99)., Conclusion: This study summarizes feasible solutions to various challenging scenarios encountered in PGT-M for thalassemia, providing valuable insights to enhance success rate of PGT-M in clinical practice., (© 2024. Context: The adsorptions of gas (CO, CO 2 , NH 3 ) by metal (Au, Ag, Cu)-doped single layer WS 2 are studied by density functional theory. The doping of metal atoms makes WS 2 behave as n-type semiconductors. The final adsorption sites for CO, CO 2 , and NH 3 are close to the atomic sites of the doped metal. The adsorptions of CO and NH 3 gases on Cu/WS 2 , Ag/WS 2 , and Au/WS 2 are dominated by chemisorption. The doped metal atoms enhance the hybridization of the substrate with the gas molecular orbitals, which contributes to the charge transfer and enhances the adsorption of the gas with the material surface. The adsorptions of CO and NH 3 on Cu/WS 2 and Ag/WS 2 allow favorable desorption in a short time after heating. The single-layer Cu/WS 2 is proved to have the potential to be used as a reliable recyclable sensor for CO. This work provides a theoretical basis for developing high-performance WS 2 -based gas sensors., Methods: In this paper, the adsorption energy, electronic structure, charge transfer, and recovery time of CO, CO 2 , and NH 3 in the doped system have been investigated based on the CASTEP code of density functional theory. The exchange correlation function used is the Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof (PBE) generalized gradient approximation (GGA). The TS (Tkatchenko-Scheffler) dispersion correction method was used to involve the effects of van der Waals interaction on the adsorption energies for all adsorption system. The ultrasoft pseudopotentials are chosen and the plane-wave cut-off energies are set to 500 eV. The k-point mesh generated by the Monkhorst package scheme is used to perform the numerical integration of the Brillouin zone and 5 × 5 × 1 k-point grid is used. Coalbed methane thermodynamic extraction, as an emerging ECBM recovery method, can effectively improve gas recovery rates. And clarifying methane diffusion and migration law in coal under thermal stimulation is crucial for the selection of its process parameters. Based on laboratory methane adsorption-release experiments, the evolution law of methane diffusion characteristics with temperature and pressure was studied, and the control mechanism of heat-dependent methane diffusion behavior was explored. The results show that both thermal stimulation and high adsorption pressure accelerated the methane diffusion rate in coal. Adsorption pressure had little effect on methane diffusion percentage, but thermal stimulation promoted a significant increase in diffusion percentage and improved the net methane yield. The influence mechanisms of adsorption pressure and thermal stimulation on methane diffusion characteristics are elucidated in relation to the amount and proportion of methane-activated molecules in the diffusion process. The constant diffusion coefficient of methane is heat-dependent, based on which a diffusion model is derived to accurately predict the methane release process in coal. Additionally, temperature has a more important effect on transient diffusion coefficient than pressure. Thermal stimulation leads to a net increase rather than a decrease in diffusion coefficient in the early diffusion stages and can also accelerate the attenuation of diffusion coefficient, with this intensifying effect becoming more pronounced at higher temperatures. In order to determine the underlying mechanism of the senescence occurring in older apple trees, the effects of tree age on the community structure and dominant genus of endophytic rhizosphere bacteria in apple were investigated. The diversity and structure of the bacterial communities and corresponding changes in the dominant genera of endophytic rhizosphere bacteria of apple at different ages (2, 8, 16, 22 years) were compared based on 16S rRNA high-throughput sequencing technology. The results revealed that the longer the tree age, the less the number of ASV in the endophytic bacteria. Moreover, the number of ASV in the endophytic bacteria gradually decreased as the tree age increased, however no significant changes were observed in the alpha diversity. At the phyla level, the relative abundance of Actinobacteria increased, while that of Proteobateria decreased. At the genus level, the relative abundance of Mycobacterium, Chujaibacter, and other genera increased, while the relative abundance of Aquabacterium, Ralstonia, Streptomyces, Asticcacaulis, Hyphomicrobium, Pseudomonas, and Sphingomonas decreased. The reduced relative abundance of endophytic rhizosphere bacteria associated with plant growth and disease resistance may thus be the cause of tree senescence. Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy is a potential non-invasive treatment to modulate immune responses and inhibit tumor growth. Cervical cancer (CC) is influenced by IL-37-mediated immune regulation, making PEMF therapy a potential strategy to impede CC progression. This study aimed to elucidate the effects of PEMF on IL-37 regulation and its molecular mechanisms in CC. CC cell-xenografted mouse models, including IL-37 transgenic (IL-37tg) mice, were used to assess tumor growth through in vivo fluorescence imaging and analyze CC cell apoptosis via flow cytometry. TCGA-CESC transcriptome and clinical data were analyzed to identify key inflammation and immune-related genes. CD8 + T cell models were stimulated with PEMF, and apoptosis, oxidative stress, and inflammatory factor expression were analyzed through RT-qPCR, Western blot, and flow cytometry. PEMF treatment significantly inhibited IL-37 expression (p < 0.05), promoted inflammatory factor release (TNF-α and IL-6), and activated oxidative stress, leading to increased CC cell apoptosis (p < 0.05). IL-37 interaction with SMAD3 impacted the p38/NF-κB signaling pathway, modulating CD8 + T cell activity and cytotoxicity. Co-culture of Hela cells with CD8 + T cells under PEMF treatment showed reduced proliferation (by 40%), migration, and invasion (p < 0.05). In vivo experiments with CC-bearing mice demonstrated that PEMF treatment downregulated IL-37 expression (p < 0.05), enhanced CD8 + T cell function, and inhibited tumor growth (p < 0.05). These molecular mechanisms were validated through RT-qPCR, Western blot, and immunohistochemistry. Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers around the world, which is a severe threat to people's health. SMAD4 belongs to the dwarfin/SMAD family, which plays a crucial role in TGF-β and BMP signal pathways. As the molecular characterization of colon cancer patients following SMAD4 mutations remains unclear, we integrated multi-omics data of SMAD4 mutant patients to reveal the profile of molecular characterization of SMAD4 mutation. A missense mutation is the most common mutant type of SMAD4. Patients with SMAD4 mutation had worse survival. Tumor tissues from patients carrying the SMAD4 mutation showed a reduction in various immune cells, such as CD4 + memory T cells and memory B cells. Many differential genes were identified compared to the SMAD4 mutation-free group and could be significantly enriched for tumor- and immune-related signaling pathways. Key Message: Five QTL for wheat grain protein content were identified, and the effects of two dwarfing genes Rht-B1b and Rht-D1b on grain protein content were validated in multiple populations. Grain protein content (GPC) plays an important role in wheat quality. Here, a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population derived from a cross between Yangmai 12 (YM12) and Yanzhan 1 (YZ1) was used to identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) for GPC. Two hundred and five RILs and their parents were grown in three years in randomized complete blocks each with two replications, and genotyped using the wheat 55 K SNP array. Five QTL were identified for GPC on chromosomes 1A, 1B, 2D, 4B, and 4D. Notably, QGpc.yaas-4B (co-located with Rht-B1) and QGpc.yaas-4D (co-located with Rht-D1) were consistently detected across all experiments and best linear unbiased estimating, accounting for 6.61-8.39% and 6.05-10.21% of the phenotypic variances, respectively. The effects of these two dwarfing alleles Rht-B1b and Rht-D1b on reducing GPC and plant height were validated in two additional RIL populations and one natural population. This study aimed to assess the association between composite indices of femoral neck strength and the odds of hip fracture in Chinese adults.After adjusting for confounders, higher values of CSI and ISI were associated with a lower risk of fracture. They may provide useful information for improving hip fracture risk assessment., Purpose: With the increased incidence of hip fractures worldwide, numerous studies have reported that composite indices of femoral neck strength can improve hip fracture risk assessment. This study aimed to assess the association between composite indices of femoral neck strength and the odds of hip fracture in Chinese adults., Methods: This retrospective cross-sectional study conducted at Changzhou Second People's Hospital included 937 Chinese adults (248 with hip fractures). After overnight fasting for ≥ 8 h, blood samples were collected from all participants within 24 h of admission. Composite indices of femoral neck strength were derived by combining bone mineral density, weight, and height with femoral axis length and width, which were measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry., Results: In total, 937 participants (293 men and 644 women) were enrolled. The mean age was 68.3 years (SD 10.5). After adjusting for confounders, higher values of CSI and ISI were associated with a lower odd of hip fracture. Increase in CSI (per 1 g/m·kg) was associated with a 46% decrease in the odd of hip fracture (OR = 0.54; 95% CI, 0.39-0.74), and increase in ISI (per 0.1 g/m·kg) was associated with an 82% decrease (OR, 0.18; 95% CI, 0.11-0.30). Effect sizes of CSI and ISI on the odds of hip fracture remained robust and reliable in subgroup analyses., Conclusions: Increased CSI and ISI were associated with a lower odd of hip fracture, especially in women, suggesting that composite indices of femoral neck strength may provide useful information for improving hip fracture risk assessment., (© 2024. Gully erosion is a serious global environmental problem associated with land degradation and ecosystem security. Examining the influencing factors of gullies and determining susceptibility hold significance in environmental sustainability. The study evaluates the spatial distribution, influencing factors, and susceptibility of gullies in the Sunshui River Basin in Sichuan Province, Southwest China. The frequency ratio method supported by satellite images and the gully inventory dataset (1614 gully head points) with different influencing factors were applied to assess the distribution and susceptibility of gullies. Additionally, gully head points were grouped into a training set (70%, 1130 points) and a test set (30%, 484 points). Spatial distribution results indicated that most gullies are located in the middle and upper part of the basin, characterized by moderate elevation (2100-3300 m), steep slopes (11.63-27.34°), abandoned farmland, and Cambisols soil, and fewer gullies are located in lower part characterized by lower elevation, gentle slopes, and low vegetation coverage. Land use and land cover influence on susceptibility is significantly greater than other factors with a prediction rate of 33.9, especially farmland abandonment, while the occurrence of gullies is also more often on southwest-orientated slopes. Gully susceptibility highlighted that the study area affected by the very low, low, moderate, high, and very high susceptibilities to these gullies covered an area of about 16%, 23%, 32%, 26%, and 3% of the total basin respectively, which indicates 61% of the study area is susceptible to gully erosion. Moderate to high susceptibility is situated in the upper and middle part, consistent with the spatial distribution of gullies in the basin, and very high susceptibility (3%) is distributed in both the lower and upper parts of the basin. Background: Surgical site infections (SSIs) are a common cause of morbidity after cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for peritoneal malignancy. Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) has been proposed as a method to reduce the rates of SSIs; however, there is paucity in the literature on the efficacy in this population. The goal of this study was to determine whether routine use of NPWT in patients undergoing CRS/HIPEC could reduce the risk of developing SSI., Methods: We performed a retrospective before-after study to assess the rates of SSI with NPWT compared with a standard postoperative surgical dressing (SSD) in all patients undergoing CRS/HIPEC from November 2013 to December 2021 at a single tertiary care center. The primary outcome was rate of SSI. A multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to evaluate for risk factors for SSI., Results: A total of 178 patients were treated with CRS/HIPEC over the study period. Seventy patients had placement of SSD, and 108 patients had placement of NPWT. Rates of SSI were 11.4% (8/70) and 5.6% (6/108) in the two groups, respectively (p = 0.16). On multivariate analysis, patients treated with NPWT had a significantly lower risk of developing an SSI (OR 0.24 [0.06, 0.92], p = 0.037). Patients living >50 km from the hospital had significantly higher risk of developing SSI (OR 2.03 [1.09, 3.78], p = 0.026)., Conclusions: These results suggest that routine use of NPWT can reduce the risk of developing an SSI in patients undergoing CRS/HIPEC for peritoneal malignancy., (© 2024. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell (BMSC)-derived exosomes (BMSC-Exos) have a variety of biological functions and are extensively involved in the regulation of inflammatory diseases, as well as tissue repair and regeneration. However, the mechanism of action of these compounds in dry eye disease (DED) in mice is still unclear. This study demonstrated that the Treg/Th17 ratio was strongly imbalanced in DED clinical samples. BMSC-Exos can modulate the Treg/Th17 balance, improve the integrity of the corneal epithelial layer, and ameliorate DED progression in mice. Mechanistically, BMSC-Exos dramatically decreased the levels of IL-17 and IL-22; increased the levels of IL-4, IL-10, and TGF-β1; and increased tear secretion and the number of goblet cells in the conjunctiva in mice, thus alleviating the progression of DED. This effect is achieved by BMSC-Exos through the delivery of miR-21-5p to target and restrain TLR4, thereby restraining the MyD88/NF-κB pathway. Our study showed that the upregulation of miR-21-5p in BMSC-Exos may be a therapeutic target for DED. Background: Dysregulated ubiquitination modification occupies a pivotal role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tumorigenesis and progression. The ubiquitin aldehyde binding 1 (OTUB1) was aberrantly upregulated and exhibited the pro-tumorigenic function in HCC. However, the underlying mechanisms and responsible targets of OTUB1 remain unclear., Methods: First, bioinformatics analysis, western blot and immunohistochemistry staining were applied to analyze OTUB1 expression in HCC specimens. Then, immunoprecipitation assay-tandem mass spectrometry (MS) combined with the gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was used to explore the downstream target of OTUB1. Co-immunoprecipitation and ubiquitination assays were used to identify the mechanisms involved. Finally, we explored the regulatory effect of MAZ on OTUB1 through ChIP-qPCR and dual-luciferase reporter assay., Results: OTUB1 was broadly elevated in HCC tissues and promoted the proliferation and metastasis of HCC in vitro and in vivo. The receptor for activated C kinase 1 (RACK1) performed as a functional partner of OTUB1 and its hyperactivation was associated with aggressive development and other malignant features in HCC by activating oncogenes transcription. Mechanistically, OTUB1 directly bound to RACK1 at its C-terminal domain and decreased the K48-linked ubiquitination of RACK1 through its non-canonical suppression of ubiquitination activity, which stabilized RACK1 protein levels in HCC cells. Therefore, OTUB1 significantly increased multiple oncogenes expression and activated PI3K/AKT and FAK/ERK signaling in a RACK1-dependent manner in HCC. Carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 6 (CEACAM6) is an immunoglobulin superfamily protein primarily expressed on epithelial surfaces and myeloid cells. It plays a significant role in cancer progression by inhibiting apoptosis, promoting drug resistance, and facilitating cancer cell invasion and metastasis. Overexpression of CEACAM6 has been observed in various cancers, including lung, breast, colorectal, and hepatocellular cancers, and is associated with poorer overall survival and disease-free survival. Its differential expression on tumor cell surfaces makes it a promising cancer marker. Key Message: We identified a SbPLSH1gene conferring purple leaf sheath in sorghum (sorghumbicolor(L.) Moench)and developed a functional markerfor it. The purple leaf sheath of sorghum, a trait mostly related to anthocyanin deposition, is a visually distinguishable morphological marker widely used to evaluate the purity of crop hybrids. We aimed to dissect the genetic mechanism for leaf sheath color to mine the genes regulating this trait. In this study, two F 2 populations were constructed by crossing a purple leaf sheath inbred line (Gaoliangzhe) with two green leaf sheath inbred lines (BTx623 and Silimei). Based on the results of bulked-segregant analysis sequencing, bulk-segregant RNA sequencing, and map-based cloning, SbPLSH1 (Sobic.006G175700), which encodes a bHLH transcription factor on chromosome 6, was identified as the candidate gene for purple leaf sheath in sorghum. Genetic analysis demonstrated that overexpression of SbPLSH1 in Arabidopsis resulted in anthocyanin deposition and purple petiole, while two single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) variants on the exon 6 resulted in loss of function. Further haplotype analysis revealed that there were two missense mutations and one cis-acting element mutation in SbPLSH1, which are closely associated with leaf sheath color in sorghum. Based on the variations, a functional marker (LSC4-2) for marker-assisted selection was developed, which has a broad-spectrum capability of distinguishing leaf sheath color in natural variants. Background: Contiguity of ablation lesions is a critical determinant of success for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) ablation. Evidence supports maintaining an inter-lesional distance (ILD) ≤ 6 mm during pulmonary venous isolation (PVI). Meanwhile, first-pass isolation (FPI) on PVI outcome in follow-up was not deeply studied. The impact of ILD and FPI on PAF ablation outcomes was investigated., Methods: Consecutive PAF patients who underwent first-time antral PVI were recruited. Coordinates of ablation points were extracted from the electro-anatomical mapping system and analyzed using custom-developed software to determine the ILD. A gap is defined as ILD greater than 6 mm. FPI was defined as the achievement of PVI by encircling the ipsilateral veins while simultaneously recording their electrical activity using a multipolar catheter. The primary endpoint was freedom from documented atrial arrhythmias including AF, atrial tachycardia (AT), or atrial flutter (AFL) lasting longer than 30 s during follow-up., Results: A total of 105 patients underwent first-time antral PVI. During 13.3 ± 0.6 months of follow-up, atrial arrhythmias recurrence was noted in 22.9% of the patients. Atrial arrhythmia recurrence was significantly higher in patients with more gaps (> 2) (37.0% versus 11.9%, P < 0.01), and the number of gaps was an independent predictor of AF/AT/AFL recurrence. (Hazard ratio [HR] 1.20, 95% CI 1.03-1.40, P = 0.02). The group with FPI for at least one ipsilateral pair of PVs exhibited a decreased number of gaps (2.0 versus 7.0, P < 0.01) and demonstrated a significant correlation with a reduction of recurrence (HR 0.26, 95% CI 0.09-0.71, P = 0.01). Among 16 patients who underwent repeat ablation, the number of gaps during the index PVI was associated with PV reconnection (PVR) (P < 0.01)., Conclusions: Gaps created during PVI are a modifiable determinant of AF/AT/AFL recurrence, and avoidance of gaps is crucial to improve clinical outcomes of PAF ablation. Objectives: Among different renal replacement therapies (RRTs), peritoneal dialysis (PD) is a family based treatment method with multiple advantages, which allowing patients to maintain autonomy, avoiding frequent hospital visits, and preventing the spread of the disease virus. To visually analyze the literatures related to volume management of PD patients through bibliometric methods, to explore research hotspots and development trends in this field., Methods: The relevant literatures of PD patient volume management in the Web of Science core collection database were retrieved with the terms of peritoneal dialysis, volume management, capacity management, fluid status, and volume overload. The retrieval time was from the establishment of the database to October 2022. CiteSpace 6.1.R3 software was used to visually analyze Country, Institution, Author, Keyword, and draw keyword clusters and keyword emergence maps., Results: A total of 788 articles were included in the analysis, and the annual number of papers was on the rise, with the American, China, and Brirain in the top three, and Peking University and University College London in the top. Keywords cluster analysis showed 11 clusters. In the keyword emergence analysis, the keywords with higher emergence intensity rank are continuous cyclic peritoneal dialysis, ambulatory peritoneal dialysis, and icodextrin. The current research hotspots and trends are in the evaluation of peritoneal dialysis patients' volume status, the selection and adjustment of dialysis prescriptions, and adverse health outcomes., Conclusion: The research on peritoneal dialysis volume management in China started late, but it has developed rapidly, and has a firm grasp of current research hotspots. However, there is less cooperation with other countries, so international exchanges and cooperation should be strengthened. Periodontitis is an inflammatory condition of the oral cavity caused by a mixed infection of various bacteria, which not only severely affects the alveolar bone and connective tissues but also displays potential correlations with distal intestinal inflammation. In this study, we aimed to elucidate the therapeutic effects of Streptococcus cristatus CA119 on experimental periodontitis in rats and its impact on intestinal morphology. The results demonstrate that CA119 is capable of colonizing the oral cavity and exerting antagonistic effects on Porphyromonas gingivalis and Fusobacterium nucleatum, thus leading to a significant reduction in the oral pathogen load. Following CA119 intervention, there was a significant alleviation of weight loss in rats induced by periodontitis (P < 0.001). CA119 also regulated the expression of IL-6 (P < 0.05), IL-1β (P < 0.001), IL-18 (P < 0.001), COX-2 (P < 0.001), iNOS (P < 0.001), and MCP-1 (P < 0.01) in the gingival tissue. Additionally, CA119 reduced oxidative stress levels in rats and enhanced their antioxidant capacity. Microcomputed tomography (micro-CT) and histological analysis revealed that CA119 significantly reduced alveolar bone loss and reversed the downregulation of OPG/RANKL (P < 0.001). Furthermore, CA119 exhibited a significant protective effect against intestinal inflammation induced by periodontal disease and improved the colonic morphology in rats. Osteosarcoma (OS) is a malignant bone sarcoma arising from mesenchymal stem cells. The biological role of Acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4 (ACSL4), recently identified as an oncogene in numerous tumor types, remains largely unclear in OS. In this study, we investigated the expression of ACSL4 in OS tissues using immunohistochemistry staining (IHC) staining of a human tissue microarray and in OS cells by qPCR assay. Our findings revealed a significant up-regulation of ACSL4 in both OS tissues and cells. To further understand its biological effects, we conducted a series of loss-of-function experiments using ACSL4-depleted MNNG/HOS and U-2OS cell lines, focusing on OS cell proliferation, migration, and apoptosis in vitro. Our results demonstrated that ACSL4 knockdown remarkably suppressed OS cell proliferation, arrested cells in the G2 phase, induced cell apoptosis, and inhibited cell migration. Additionally, a subcutaneous xenograft mice model was established to validate the in vivo impact of ACSL4, revealing ACSL4 silencing impaired tumor growth in the OS xenograft mice. Additionally, we discovered that ACSL4 could regulate the phosphorylation level of Smad2 through cooperative interactions, and treatment with a TGF-β inhibitor weakened the promoting effects of ACSL4 overexpression. In short, ACSL4 regulated OS progression by modulating TGF-β/Smad2 signaling pathway. Two natural adsorbent materials, potassium humate (KHA) and montmorillonite (MMT), were successfully prepared by embedding them in sodium alginate (SA) gel spheres through physical cross-linking with CaCl 2 . And CaCO 3 was used as a porogenic agent to prepare the porous composites, KHA/SA/MMT. The materials were characterized by using XRD, TGA, SEM, and N 2 adsorption/desorption equipment. The results showed that MMT and KHA were successfully embedded in the SA gel; the introduction of MMT increased the thermal stability of the composites and the embedding of MMT, and the porogenic effect of CaCO 3 increased the specific surface area of the composites substantially, which provided favorable conditions for adsorption and treatment of pollutants. In addition, a one-way exploratory experiment yielded a higher removal rate of Rhodamine B (RhB) at D = 0.6 g/L, pH = 5, C 0  = 100 mg/L, and t = 360 min. The adsorption kinetics and adsorption isotherm conformed to the secondary kinetic model and Langmuir model, respectively, and the maximum adsorption of RhB by KHA/SA/MMT could reach up to 884.96 mg/g at 303 K. The adsorption mechanism for RhB was shown by FT-IR and XPS analyses to be possibly bound by non-covalent bonding forces. After seven consecutive adsorption-desorption cycles, the adsorption of RhB by KHA/SA/MMT still reached 80.75%. Therefore, the prepared gel spheres have the advantages of easy regeneration and efficient reuse and great potential for application in purifying RhB from wastewater., (© 2024. Cecropin A (1-7) is a cationic antimicrobial peptide which contain lots of basic amino acids. To understand the effect of basic amino acids on cecropin A (1-7), analogues CA2, CA3 and CA4 which have more arginine or lysine at the N-terminal or C-terminal were designed and synthesized. The interaction of cecropin A (1-7) and its analogs with DNA was studied using ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy and circular dichroism spectroscopy. Multispectral analysis showed that basic amino acids improved the interaction between the analogues and DNA. The interaction between CA4 and DNA is most pronounced. Fluorescence spectrum indicated that Ksv value of CA4 is 1.19 × 10 5  L mol -1 compared to original peptide cecropin A (1-7) of 3.73 × 10 4  L mol -1 . The results of antimicrobial experiments with cecropin A (1-7) and its analogues showed that basic amino acids enhanced the antimicrobial effect of the analogues. The antimicrobial activity of CA4 against E. coli was eightfold higher than that of cecropin A (1-7). Metal-organic framework (MOF) and covalent organic framework (COF) are a huge group of advanced porous materials exhibiting attractive and tunable microstructural features, such as large surface area, tunable pore size, and functional surfaces, which have significant values in various application areas. The emerging 3D printing technology further provides MOF and COFs (M/COFs) with higher designability of their macrostructure and demonstrates large achievements in their performance by shaping them into advanced 3D monoliths. However, the currently available 3D printing M/COFs strategy faces a major challenge of severe destruction of M/COFs' microstructural features, both during and after 3D printing. It is envisioned that preserving the microstructure of M/COFs in the 3D-printed monolith will bring a great improvement to the related applications. In this overview, the 3D-printed M/COFs are categorized into M/COF-mixed monoliths and M/COF-covered monoliths. Their differences in the properties, applications, and current research states are discussed. The up-to-date advancements in paste/scaffold composition and printing/covering methods to preserve the superior M/COF microstructure during 3D printing are further discussed for the two types of 3D-printed M/COF. Throughout the analysis of the current states of 3D-printed M/COFs, the expected future research direction to achieve a highly preserved microstructure in the 3D monolith is proposed., (© 2024. Mineral extraction in resource-based cities has caused serious damage to the original ecology, resulting in poor regional vegetation growth, reduced carbon sequestration capacity, and reduced ecosystem resilience. Especially in resource-based cities with fragile ecology, the overall anti-interference ability of the environment is relatively worse. Seeking ecological network optimization solutions that can improve vegetation growth conditions on a large scale is an effective way to enhance the resilience of regional ecosystems. This paper introduces carbon sequestration indicators and designs a differential ecological networks (ENs) optimization model (FTCC model) to achieve the goal of improving ecosystem resilience. The model identifies the patches that need to be optimized and their optimization directions based on the differences in ecological function-topology-connectivity-carbon sequestration of the patches. Finally, the resilience of the ecological network before and after optimization was compared, proving that the model is effective. The results show that the sources in the Yulin ENs form three main clusters, with connectivity between clusters relying on only a few patches. The patches in the northeastern and southwest clusters are large but their ecological functions need to be improved. After optimization, 16 new stepping stones were added, 38 new corridors were added, and the ecological function of 39 patches was enhanced. The optimized ecological network resilience was improved in terms of structure, function, and carbon sinks, and carbon sinks increased by 6364.5 tons. High-temperature solid adsorbent Li 4 SiO 4 has received broad attention due to its high theoretical adsorption capacity, high regeneration capacity, and wide range of raw materials for preparation. In this paper, a Li 4 SiO 4 adsorbent was prepared by MCM-48 as the silica precursor and modified by doping with metal ions (Ca 2+ and Na + ) for high-temperature capture of low-concentration CO 2 . The results showed that the surface of the Ca-doped (or Na-doped) Li 4 SiO 4 adsorbent developed some particles that are primarily composed by Li 2 CaSiO 4 (or Li 3 NaSiO 4 ). Furthermore, the grains of the adsorbents became finer, effectively increasing the specific surface area and enhancing adsorption performance. Under 15 vol% CO 2 , the maximum CO 2 adsorption was 25.63 wt% and 32.86 wt% when the Ca 2+ doping amount was 0.06 and the Na + doping amount was 0.12, respectively. These values were both higher than the adsorption capacity before the metal ion doping. After 10 adsorption/desorption cycles, the adsorption capacity of Na-doped Li 4 SiO 4 increased by 9.68 wt%, while that of Ca-doped Li 4 SiO 4 decreased by 7.98 wt%. This difference could be attributed to the easy sintering of the Ca-containing adsorbent. Furthermore, a biexponential model was used to fit the CO 2 adsorption curve of the adsorbent in order to study the adsorption kinetics. Compared to the conventional Li 4 SiO 4 , the Ca/Na-doped adsorbent offers several advantages, such as a high CO 2 adsorption capacity and stable cycling ability., (© 2024. A lot of research has been done on using natural items as diabetes treatment. The molecular docking study was conducted to evaluate the inhibitory activities of urolithin A against α-amylase, α-glucosidase, and aldose reductase. The molecular docking calculations indicated the probable interactions and the characteristics of these contacts at an atomic level. The results of the docking calculations showed the docking score of urolithin A against α-amylase was -5.169 kcal/mol. This value for α-glucosidase and aldose reductase was -3.657 kcal/mol and -7.635 kcal/mol, respectively. In general, the outcomes of the docking calculations revealed that urolithin A can construct several hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic contacts with the assessed enzymes and reduces their activities considerably. The properties of urolithin against common human breast cancer cell lines, i.e., SkBr3, MDA-MB-231, MCF-7, Hs578T, Evsa-T, BT-549, AU565 and 600MPE were evaluated. The IC50 of the urolithin was 400, 443, 392, 418, 397, 530, 566 and 551 against SkBr3, MDA-MB-231, MCF-7, Hs578T, Evsa-T, BT-549, AU565 and 600MPE, respectively. After doing the clinical trial studies, the recent molecule may be used as an anti-breast cancer supplement in humans.
