Calanthe mild mosaic virus (CalMMV) infecting orchids is an important potyvirus which is known to cause mild leaf mosaic and flower colour-breaking symptoms in Calanthe and other orchid plants. The present study reports the production of polyclonal antibodies against CalMMV using bacterially expressed recombinant coat protein as immunogen, which in turn would be useful in routine indexing and screening of orchid germplasm. The coat protein (CP) gene (~ 807 bp) of CalMMV isolated from infected orchid sample was cloned in expression vector, pET-28a ( +) that yielded ~ 31 kDa fusion protein with Histidine tag (His 6 BP). The expression of fusion CP was confirmed through SDS-PAGE and Western blotting. The His 6 BP-CalMMV-CP obtained in soluble state after purification was used to immunize New Zealand white rabbit for the production of polyclonal antibodies (PAb). The PAb produced against the purified fusion protein successfully detected CAlMMV in the orchid samples at a dilution of 1:2000 in direct antigen-coated enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (DAC-ELISA). This study presents the first report of Histidine tag (His 6 BP) fusion CalMMV-CP-based antibody production and its successful application in the identification of the virus in orchid plants. Reduced vagally mediated heart rate variability (VmHRV) has been reported in patients with chronic pain. In healthy persons, breathing with longer expiration relative to inspiration increases VmHRV at 12 breaths per minute. The present study aimed to determine the immediate effect of breathing with longer expiration relative to inspiration on VmHRV and mood states in patients with chronic pain. Fifty patients with chronic pain aged between 20 and 67 years were prospectively randomized as two groups with an allocation ratio of 1:1. The interventional group practiced breathing with metronome based visual cues, maintaining an inspiration to expiration ratio of 28:72 (i/e ratio, 0.38) at a breath rate of 12 breaths per minute. The average i/e ratio they attained based on strain gauge respiration recording was 0.685 (SD 0.48). The control group, which looked at the metronome without conscious breath modification had an average i/e ratio of 0.745 (SD 0.69). The VmHRV, respiration and self-reported mood states (using the Brief Mood Introspection Scale (BMIS)) were assessed. There was a significant increase in HF-HRV and RMSSD during low i/e breathing (repeated measures ANCOVA, Bonferroni adjusted post-hoc test, p < 0.05; in all cases). Self-reported mood states changed as follows: (i) following low i/e breathing positive-mood states increased while the aroused mood state decreased whereas (ii) following the control intervention the aroused mood state increased (repeated measure ANOVA, p < 0.05; in all cases). The present study is focused on investigating the heavy/toxic metals (Al, Ni, Cr, Pb, Cu, As, Mn, and Zn) of PM 2.5 and assessing their associated human health risks. During the study period (July 2022 to July 2023), the PM 2.5 samples were collected from two distinct sites in Faridabad (92 samples from site 1 and 85 samples from site 2). In this study, the US EPA's Risk Assessment Guidance for Superfund (RAGS) was followed to evaluate the human health risk associated with PM 2.5 -bound heavy elements. The annual average of PM 2.5 concentrations was 108 ± 16 µg m⁻ 3 at site 1 and 154 ± 11 µg m⁻ 3 at site 2, approximately three to four times higher than the national ambient air quality standards (annual, 40 µg m -3 ). The analysis of enrichment factors (EFs) for the elements Cr, As, Zn, Cu, Mn, Pb, and Ni indicates that the heavy elements associated with PM 2.5 primarily originate from anthropogenic sources. The application of the conditional bivariate probability function (CBPF) model for Faridabad revealed local pollution sources contributing to elevated mass concentrations at the receptor site from the southern (S), northwestern (NW), northeastern (NE), southwestern (SW), and southeastern (SE) regions. Furthermore, positive matrix factorization (PMF) analysis identified the predominant sources of PM 2.5 -bound heavy elements as industrial emissions (41%), vehicular emissions (34%), and combustion processes (25%). After a thorough assessment of health hazards, Cr appeared as a significant carcinogenic risk factor. Children with elevated hazard quotient (HQ) values for Mn and Cr indicated non-carcinogenic health problems. Divergent banana streak viruses (BSV) were characterized from banana plants exhibiting diverse symptoms in the Northeast region (NER) of India. Using rolling circle amplification (RCA), the complete genome sequences of seven episomal banana streak MY virus (BSMYV) isolates, including two novel variants, and two new banana streak IM virus (BSIMV) isolates were characterized. The novel BSMYV genetic variants were associated with conspicuous necrosis on newly emerged leaves, peduncle distortion, pseudostem internal necrosis, in addition to common streak symptoms. For complete genome nucleotide sequences, BSMYV-IN4 and IN5 shared 77-79% identity with other BSMYVs, while BSMYV-IN7 and IN8 exhibited identities of 77-97%. This study reports for the first time, the complete genomes of two banana streak IM virus (BSIMV-IN1 and -IN2) infecting triploid banana hybrids exhibiting leaf distortion, stunted rosette-like growth, and necrosis, sharing 87% sequence identity with reference BSIMV genome (GenBank accession no. HQ593112). Phylogenetic inference based on complete genomes revealed the distinct and congruent placement of BSMYV-IN4 and IN5 within the BSMYV cluster. Pairwise sequence comparisons of the conserved RT/RNase H nucleotide (nt) sequences revealed that the BSMYV-IN7 and IN4 isolates showed 85% and 97% identity to BSMYV (AY805074), respectively, which shared highest nt identity with BSMYV-IN6, IN9, and IN10, at 100%. The RT/RNase H nt sequences of BSIMV-IN1 and IN2 had 98% identity with the BSIMV (HQ593112), but were characterized as novel variants of BSIMV based on complete genomes. An analysis of relative synonymous codon usage (RSCU) pattern in the ORFIII polyprotein of BSMYV and BSIMV isolates revealed AGA and AGG (arginine) as the most frequently overrepresented codons (>1.5), evolutionary conserved in the genome of both species. A total of 14 recombination events were detected among the 36 BSV genomes, with recombination breakpoints mainly located in the ORFI, III, and IGR genomic regions. A novel phylogenetic cluster, comprised of BSMYV-IN4 and IN5 within the clade I was probably derived from heterologous recombination between parents resembling banana streak VN virus (BSVNV; AY750155) and banana streak GF virus (BSGFV; KJ013507) isolates. The building sector is growing at a rapid rate, leading to an increased demand for construction materials. Concrete made with Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) has long been the preferred choice due to its excellent bonding properties and versatility as demanded by construction process. However, the manufacturing of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) leads to negative impacts on the environment, with the cement sector responsible for around 5-8% of global CO 2 emissions. In addition, the manufacture of OPC necessitates significant amounts of natural raw materials and energy. Contrastingly, using geopolymers promises to save substantial amounts of energy and reduce CO 2 emissions. This potential has sparked growing interest in the application of geopolymers within transportation infrastructure. For pavements, the workability requirement is less, and hence, geopolymer concrete (GPC) is a viable option, but fatigue-resistance of GPC is not seen reported in literatures. This article evaluates the properties of geopolymer concrete with low-calcium fly ash partially replaced with ground granular blast furnace slag (GGBS) with 8 M NaOH alkaline solution and cured under ambient atmospheric conditions to evaluate its usage in pavements and develop an environmentally sustainable and durable GPC capable of withstanding heavy traffic. The study involves adjusting the pavement quality concrete (PQC) mix design; evaluating the mechanical characteristics, abrasion resistance, and shrinkage strain of the GPC; and analyzing its microstructure. Additionally, the study compares the fatigue life of GPC to that of PQC using various Weibull distribution approaches. The results showed that GPC4 (70% Fly ash and 30% GGBS) mix achieved best results at 28 days, with a compressive strength of 45.68 MPa, split tensile strength of 3.76 MPa, and flexural strength of 4.62 MPa. Also, shrinkage strains were nearly 31% lesser than PQC at 90 days. In addition, developing GPC needs 27% lesser embodied energy than PQC. Fatigue analysis prove that ambient cured fly ash-GGBS based geopolymer concrete with 8 M NaOH exhibits less stress development than PQC at medium loads, even though it is brittle. Key Message: De novo genotyping in potato using methylation-sensitive GBS discovers SNPs largely confined to genic or gene-associated regions and displays enhanced effectiveness in estimating LD decay rates, population structure and detecting GWAS associations over 'fixed' SNP genotyping platform. Study also reports the genetic architectures including robust sequence-tagged marker-trait associations for sixteen important potato traits potentially carrying higher transferability across a wider range of germplasm. This study deploys recent advancements in polyploid analytical approaches to perform complex trait analyses in cultivated tetraploid potato. The study employs a 'fixed' SNP Infinium array platform and a 'flexible and open' genome complexity reduction-based sequencing method (GBS, genotyping-by-sequencing) to perform genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for several key potato traits including the assessment of population structure and linkage disequilibrium (LD) in the studied population. GBS SNPs discovered here were largely confined (~ 90%) to genic or gene-associated regions of the genome demonstrating the utility of using a methylation-sensitive restriction enzyme (PstI) for library construction. As compared to Infinium array SNPs, GBS SNPs displayed enhanced effectiveness in estimating LD decay rates and discriminating population subgroups. GWAS using a combined set of 30,363 SNPs identified 189 unique QTL marker-trait associations (QTL-MTAs) covering all studied traits. The majority of the QTL-MTAs were from GBS SNPs potentially illustrating the effectiveness of marker-dense de novo genotyping platforms in overcoming ascertainment bias and providing a more accurate correction for different levels of relatedness in GWAS models. GWAS also detected QTL 'hotspots' for several traits at previously known as well as newly identified genomic locations. Due to the current study exploiting genome-wide genotyping and de novo SNP discovery simultaneously on a large tetraploid panel representing a greater diversity of the cultivated potato gene pool, the reported sequence-tagged MTAs are likely to have higher transferability across a wider range of potato germplasm and increased utility for expediting genomics-assisted breeding for the several complex traits studied., (© 2024. In the current study, high-throughput sequencing (HTS) was used to identify viruses associated with the Kinnow mandarin ( Citrus reticulata ) plants exhibiting yellow vein clearing, mottling, and chlorosis symptoms at experimental farm of ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, India. During November 2022, leaf samples of symptomatic and asymptomatic Kinnow mandarin trees were collected, subjected to HTS and one of the representative symptomatic samples was subjected to leaf-dip electron microscopy (EM). In the EM results, flexuous virus particles typical of mandarivirus were observed. Ribosomal RNA was depleted from total RNA of pooled samples and RNA sequencing was done using NovaSeq 6000. Host unaligned reads were de novo assembled into contigs, which were annotated through BLASTn using database of plant viruses/viroids reference genomes (NCBI). Results of assembled contigs revealed near-complete genomes of two mandariviruses, i.e. , citrus yellow vein clearing virus (CYVCV) and citrus yellow mottle-associated virus (CiYMaV). The values of fragments per kilo base transcript length per million fragments mapped estimation indicated the dominance of CYVCV in HTS data and it was also confirmed through krona plot distribution of viruses in the pooled samples. A rapid and reliable duplex RT-PCR assay was also developed and standardized for the simultaneous detection of both CYVCV and CiYMaV in a pooled Kinnow mandarin sample. The developed duplex RT-PCR was then validated for the presence of these viruses in individual Kinnow mandarin samples. The specificity and sensitivity results confirmed that primers were highly specific to their targets and able to detect viruses up to 10 -2 dilutions of RNA in standard and duplex RT-PCR. Key Message: A new resistance locus acting against the potato cyst nematode Globodera pallida was mapped to chromosome VI in the diploid wild potato species Solanum spegazzinii CPC 7195. The potato cyst nematodes (PCN) Globodera pallida and Globodera rostochiensis are economically important potato pests in almost all regions where potato is grown. One important management strategy involves deployment through introgression breeding into modern cultivars of new sources of naturally occurring resistance from wild potato species. We describe a new source of resistance to G. pallida from wild potato germplasm. The diploid species Solanum spegazzinii Bitter accession CPC 7195 shows resistance to G. pallida pathotypes Pa1 and Pa2/3. A cross and first backcross of S. spegazzinii with Solanum tuberosum Group Phureja cultivar Mayan Gold were performed, and the level of resistance to G. pallida Pa2/3 was determined in progeny clones. Bulk-segregant analysis (BSA) using generic mapping enrichment sequencing (GenSeq) and genotyping-by-sequencing were performed to identify single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that are genetically linked to the resistance, using S. tuberosum Group Phureja clone DM1-3 516 R44 as a reference genome. These SNPs were converted into allele-specific PCR assays, and the resistance was mapped to an interval of roughly 118 kb on chromosome VI. Diabetes mellitus has been regarded as one of the prime health issues in present days, which can often lead to diabetic retinopathy, a complication of the disease that affects the eyes, causing loss of vision. For precisely detecting the condition's existence, clinicians are required to recognise the presence of lesions in colour fundus images, making it an arduous and time-consuming task. To deal with this problem, a lot of work has been undertaken to develop deep learning-based computer-aided diagnosis systems that assist clinicians in making accurate diagnoses of the diseases in medical images. Contrariwise, the basic operations involved in deep learning models lead to the extraction of a bulky set of features, further taking a long period of training to predict the existence of the disease. For effective execution of these models, feature selection becomes an important task that aids in selecting the most appropriate features, with an aim to increase the classification accuracy. This research presents an optimised deep k-nearest neighbours'-based pipeline model in a bid to amalgamate the feature extraction capability of deep learning models with nature-inspired metaheuristic algorithms, further using k-nearest neighbour algorithm for classification. The proposed model attains an accuracy of 97.67 and 98.05% on two different datasets considered, outperforming Resnet50 and AlexNet deep learning models. Key Message: An improved estimator of genomic relatedness using low-depth high-throughput sequencing data for autopolyploids is developed. Its outputs strongly correlate with SNP array-based estimates and are available in the package GUSrelate. High-throughput sequencing (HTS) methods have reduced sequencing costs and resources compared to array-based tools, facilitating the investigation of many non-model polyploid species. One important quantity that can be computed from HTS data is the genetic relatedness between all individuals in a population. However, HTS data are often messy, with multiple sources of errors (i.e. sequencing errors or missing parental alleles) which, if not accounted for, can lead to bias in genomic relatedness estimates. We derive a new estimator for constructing a genomic relationship matrix (GRM) from HTS data for autopolyploid species that accounts for errors associated with low sequencing depths, implemented in the R package GUSrelate. Simulations revealed that GUSrelate performed similarly to existing GRM methods at high depth but reduced bias in self-relatedness estimates when the sequencing depth was low. Using a panel consisting of 351 tetraploid potato genotypes, we found that GUSrelate produced GRMs from genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) data that were highly correlated with a GRM computed from SNP array data, and less biased than existing methods when benchmarking against the array-based GRM estimates. In this study, sugarcane bagasse (SB) was strategically subjected to a delignification process followed by the in situ growth of multi-layered molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ) nanosheets with hexagonal phase (2H-phase) crystal structure via hydrothermal treatment. The MoS 2 nanosheets underwent self-assembly to form nanoflower-like structures in the aligned cellulose inter-channels of delignified sugarcane bagasse (DSB), the mechanism of which was understood through FTIR and XPS spectroscopic studies. DSB, due to its porous morphology and abundant hydroxyl groups, shows remediation capabilities of methylene blue (MB) dye through physio-sorption but shows a low adsorption capacity of 80.21 mg/g. To improve the removal capacity, DSB after in situ growth of MoS 2 (DSB-MoS 2 ) shows enhanced dye degradation to 114.3 mg/g (in the dark) which further improved to 158.74 mg/g during photodegradation, due to catalytically active MoS 2 . Interestingly, DSB-MoS 2 was capable of continuous dye degradation with recyclability for three cycles, reaching an efficiency of > 83%, along with a strong antibacterial response against Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus (S.aureus) and Gram-negative Escherichia coli (E. coli). This study attempts to examine the morphological, elemental and physical characteristics of PM 10 over the Indian Himalayan Region (IHR) using FTIR and scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX) analysis. The study aimed at source identification of PM 10 by exploring the inorganic ions, organic functional groups, morphology and elemental characteristics. The pollution load of PM 10 was estimated as 63 ± 22 μg m -3 ; 53 ± 16 μg m -3 ; 67 ± 26 μg m -3 and 55 ± 11 μg m -3 over Mohal-Kullu, Almora, Nainital and Darjeeling, respectively. ATR-FTIR spectrum analysis revealed the existence of inorganic ions (SiO 4 4- , TiO 2 , SO 4 2- , SO 3 - , NO 3 - , NO 2 - , CO 3 2- , HCO 3 - , NH 4 + ) and organic functional groups (C-C, C-H, C=C, C≡C, C=O, N-H, C≡N, C=N, O-H, cyclic rings, aromatic compounds and some heterogeneous groups) in PM 10 which may arise from geogenic, biogenic and anthropogenic sources. The morphological and elemental characterization was performed by SEM-EDX, inferring for geogenic origin (Al, Na, K, Ca, Mg and Fe) due to the presence of different morphologies (irregular, spherical, cluster, sheet-like solid deposition and columnar). In contrast, particles having biogenic and anthropogenic origins (K, S and Ba) have primarily spherical with few irregular particles at all the study sites. Also, the statistical analysis ANOVA depicts that among all the detected elements, Na, Al, Si, S and K are site-specific in nature as their mean of aw% significantly varied for all the sites. The trajectory analysis revealed that the Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, the Thar Desert, Himachal Pradesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Sikkim, the Indo-Gangetic Plain (IGP) and the Bay of Bengal (BoB) contribute to the increased loading of atmospheric pollutants in various locations within the IHR., (© 2024. The present study frames the physico-chemical characteristics and the source apportionment of PM 10 over National Capital Region (NCR) of India using the receptor model's Positive Matrix Factorization (PMF) and Principal Momponent Mnalysis/Absolute Principal Component Score-Multilinear Regression (PCA/APCS-MLR). The annual average mass concentration of PM 10 over the urban site of Faridabad, IGDTUW-Delhi and CSIR-NPL of NCR-Delhi were observed to be 195 ± 121, 275 ± 141 and 209 ± 81 µg m -3 , respectively. Carbonaceous species (organic carbon (OC), elemental carbon (EC) and water-soluble organic carbon (WSOC)), elemental constituents (Al, Ti, Na, Mg, Cr, Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Br, Ba, Mo Pb) and water-soluble ionic components (F - , Cl - , SO 4 2- , NO 3 - , NH 4 + , Na + , K + , Mg 2+ , Ca 2+ ) of PM 10  were entrenched to the receptor models to comprehend the possible sources of PM 10 . The PMF assorted sources over Faridabad were soil dust (SD 15%), industrial emission (IE 14%), vehicular emission (VE 19%), secondary aerosol (SA 23%) and sodium magnesium salt (SMS 17%). For IGDTUW-Delhi, the sources were SD (16%), VE (19%), SMS (18%), IE (11%), SA (27%) and VE + IE (9%). Emission sources like SD (24%), IE (8%), SMS (20%), VE + IE (12%), VE (15%) and SA + BB (21%) were extracted over CSIR-NPL, New Delhi, which are quite obvious towards the sites. PCA/APCS-MLR quantified the similar sources with varied percentage contribution. The inherent potential of apple plants was investigated to explore bacterial endophytes and their role in suppressing Dematophora necatrix, the causative pathogen of white root rot disease. Resultantly 34 endophytic bacteria isolated from healthy apple plants, and subsequently 6 most efficient isolates viz., Bacillus megaterium strain EA3, Enterobacter sp. strain EA7, Bacillus megaterium strain EK2, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia strain EK6, Acinetobacter nosocomialis strain ES2 and Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain ES8 depicting anti-pathogen interactions through preliminary screening were assessed further under in vitro, glasshouse and field conditions against white root rot pathogen/disease. Maximum mycelial growth inhibition (80.37%) was obtained with S. maltophilia strain EK6 encouraging for its seed treatment and soil application thereby providing significant effective control (87.91%) of white root rot under glasshouse conditions to other five bacterial endophytes evaluated simultaneously, followed by field efficacy of 83.70%. In addition, it has significantly enhanced the growth parameters of apple trees under both glasshouse and field conditions. The inoculated healthy plants were assessed for endophytic colonization which revealed maximum endosphere colonialism by S. maltophilia strain EK6. Additionally, confocal microscopic images of transverse sections of root cells colonized by bacterial endophytes as compared to untreated control implied their persistence and establishment in endosphere of apple seedlings. In developing nations, solid residential fuels are the major sources of primary energy for various domestic activities. To date, the emission inventory of inorganic trace gases over National Capital Territory (NCT) was prepared using either default or country-specific emission factors. In this paper, we report (for the first time) the spatial variation of emission factors (EFs) of inorganic trace gases (SO 2 , NO, NO 2 , CO, CO 2 , and CH 4 ) from the residential fuels used in slums and rural areas of NCT determined using dilution chamber in the laboratory. 147 residential fuel samples, including fuelwood, dung cake, crop residues, coal, etc., were collected at 149 NCT locations out of 675 slum clusters and 146 rural villages. The range of EF(s) of SO 2 (0.02 ± 0.01 to 0.04 ± 0.01 g kg -1 ), CH 4 (0.10 to 0.34 g kg -1 ), NO 2 (0.01 to 0.02 g kg -1 ) is lower than the CO (3.55 ± 1.72 to 6.07 ± 1.53 g kg -1 ) and CO 2 (0 to 129.45 ± 46.94 g kg -1 ). The north and north west districts of NCT are emission hotspots for CH 4 , NO, and NO 2 emissions, whereas, the southern and northern areas of NCT are for CO 2 . These citywide emission inventories (0.05° × 0.05°) of inorganic trace gases are prepared using laboratory-determined EFs and available consumption data determined by recent survey information. For the last few decades, air pollution in developing country like India is increasing, and it is a matter of huge concern due to its associated human health impacts. In this region, the burgeoning population, escalating urbanization and industrialization, has been cited as the major reason for such a high air pollution. The present study was carried out for health risk assessment of aerosol particles (PM 10 and PM 2.5 ) and its associated heavy metals of an agriculture farm site at Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) considered to be green urban area in Delhi, India. The concentrations of both PM 10 and PM 2.5 varied significantly from 136 to 177 µg/m 3 and 56 to 162 µg/m 3 , respectively at the site. In the present case, the highest PM 10 and PM 2.5 levels were reported in January, followed by December. The levels of ambient PM 10 and PM 2.5 are influenced by wind prevailing meteorology. These levels of PM 10 and PM 2.5 are more than the permissible limits of WHO guidelines of 15 and 5 µg/m 3 , respectively, thereby leading to high aerosol loadings specifically in winters. The PM concentration of the atmosphere was found to be negatively correlated with temperature during the sampling period. The concentrations of surface ozone O 3 and NO x in the present study were observed to be high in February and March, respectively. The increasing air pollution in the city of Delhi poses a great risk to the human health, as the particulate matter loaded with heavy metals can enter humans via different pathways, viz., ingestion, inhalation, and absorption through skin. The mean hazard index for metals (Zn, Pb, Cd, As, Cr, and Ni) was observed within the acceptable limit (HI < 1), thereby indicating negligible non-carcinogenic effects to residing population. The carcinogenic risk assessment was conducted for Cd, Pb, and As only, as the concentrations for other metals were found to be quite low. The carcinogenic risk values were also within the limits of USEPA standards, indicating no carcinogenic risks to the health of children and adults residing near the site. This information about the PM pollution at the agricultural site and health risk assessment will serve as a baseline data in assessment of human health impacts due to air pollution at the local scale and can be used for development of mitigation strategies for tackling air pollution., (© 2023. Cervical cancer (CC) is the 4th most leading cause of death among women worldwide, and if diagnosed in late stages the treatment options are almost negligible. 99% of CC is caused by high-risk human papilloma viruses (HR-HPV). Upon integration into human genome, the encoded viral proteins mis-regulate various onco-suppressors and checkpoint factors including cell cycle regulators. One such protein is cell cycle S phase licensing factor, CDC-10 dependent transcript-2 (Cdt2) which has been reported to be highly upregulated in various cancers including CC. Also, in CC cells, several tumor suppressor miRNAs are suppressed, including miR-17 ~ 92 cluster. In this study, we report that miR-17 ~ 92 directly recruits to 3'UTR of Cdt2 and downregulates this oncogene which suppresses the proliferation, migration and invasion capabilities of the CC cell lines without affecting non-cancerous cells. We further show that suppression of Cdt2 by miR-17 ~ 92, blocks the cancerous cells in S phase and induces apoptosis, eventually leading to their death. Hence, our work for the first time, mechanistically shows how miR-17 ~ 92 could work as tumor suppressor in cervical cancer cells, opening up the potential of miR-17 ~ 92 to be used in developing therapy for cervical cancer treatment., (© 2023. This study examines the uranium, fluoride, and nitrate dispositions in groundwater as well as potential health risks in Kota district, Rajasthan, India. Total 198 groundwater samples were collected in both dry and wet periods and analyzed for physicochemical parameters along with U, F - , and NO 3 - using standard methods. Results indicate that the electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids, total hardness, alkalinity, Ca 2+ , Mg 2+ , HCO 3 - , Cl - , NO 3 - , and F - exceed the WHO standard limits of drinking water in both periods. Uranium concentration is at the broader of drinking water permissible limit (30 μg/L) and found about 1.05 times more. Nitrate and fluoride concentrations ranged from 9.8 to 412.0 mg/L and 0.1 to 4.0 mg/L for the dry season, while in the wet period, they varied from 10.0 to 954.0 mg/L and 0.1 to 3.5 mg/L, respectively. Correlation studies show a significantly strong positive correlation between uranium and total alkalinity and carbonate. Natural background levels (NBLs) were explored to assess the source of groundwater pollution. It shows that the second inflection points of NBLs estimated for NO 3 - , F - , and U are about 168 mg/L, 1.2 mg/L, and 7.3 μg/L, respectively, during the experimental period. The USEPA technique was used to evaluate the non-carcinogenic health risks associated with consuming the NO 3 - and F - -contaminated groundwater. The health risks in Kota district show that children are more at risk than adults. The risk assessment of uranium reveals that the excess cancer risk (ECR) and hazard quotient (HQ) are found to be below the standard limits, but a high concentration of uranium (31.6 μg/L) is observed at Amarpura village of Digod block. Colorimetric sensors have emerged as a powerful tool in the detection of water pollutants. Plasmonic nanoparticles use localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR)-based colorimetric sensing. LSPR-based sensing can be accomplished through different strategies such as etching, growth, aggregation, and anti-aggregation. Based on these strategies, various sensors have been developed. This review focuses on the newly developed anti-aggregation-based strategy of plasmonic nanoparticles. Sensors based on this strategy have attracted increasing interest because of their exciting properties of high sensitivity, selectivity, and applicability. This review highlights LSPR-based anti-aggregation sensors, their classification, and role of plasmonic nanoparticles in these sensors for the detection of water pollutants. The anti-aggregation based sensing of major water pollutants such as heavy metal ions, anions, and small organic molecules has been summarized herein. This review also provides some personal insights into current challenges associated with anti-aggregation strategy of LSPR-based colorimetric sensors and proposes future research directions., (© 2023. Black carbon (BC) aerosols critically impact the climate and hydrological cycle. The impact of anthropogenic emissions and coastal meteorology on BC dynamics, however, remains unclear over tropical India, a globally identified hotspot. In this regard, we have performed in situ measurements of BC over a megacity (Chennai, 12° 59' 26.5″ N, 80° 13' 51.8″ E) on the eastern coast of India during January-June 2020, comprising the period of COVID-19-induced strict lockdown. Our measurements revealed an unprecedented reduction in BC concentration by an order of magnitude as reported by other studies for various other pollutants. This was despite having stronger precipitation during pre-lockdown and lesser precipitation washout during the lockdown. Our analyses, taking mesoscale dynamics into account, unravels stronger BC depletion in the continental air than marine air. Additionally, the BC source regime also shifted from a fossil-fuel dominance to a biomass burning dominance as a result of lockdown, indicating relative reduction in fossil fuel combustion. Considering the rarity of such a low concentration of BC in a tropical megacity environment, our observations and findings under near-natural or background levels of BC may be invaluable to validate model simulations dealing with BC dynamics and its climatic impacts in the Anthropocene., (© 2023. The megacities experience poor air quality frequently due to stronger anthropogenic emissions. India had one of the longest lockdowns in 2020 to curb the spread of COVID-19, leading to reductions in the emissions from anthropogenic activities. In this article, the frequency distributions of different pollutants have been analysed over two densely populated megacities: Delhi (28.70° N; 77.10° E) and Kolkata (22.57° N; 88.36° E). In Delhi, the percentage of days with PM 2.5 levels exceeding the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) between 25 March and 17 June dropped from 98% in 2019 to 61% in 2020. The lockdown phase 1 brought down the PM 10 (particulate matter having an aerodynamic diameter ≤ 10 μm) levels below the daily NAAQS limit over Delhi and Kolkata. However, PM 10 exceeded the limit of 100 μgm -3 during phases 2-5 of lockdown over Delhi due to lower temperature, weaker winds, increased relative humidity and commencement of limited traffic movement. The PM 2.5 levels exhibit a regressive trend in the highest range from the year 2019 to 2020 in Delhi. The daily mean value for PM 2.5 concentrations dropped from 85-90 μgm -3 to 40-45 μgm -3 bin, whereas the PM 10 levels witnessed a reduction from 160-180 μgm -3 to 100-120 μgm -3 bin due to the lockdown. Kolkata also experienced a shift in the peak of PM 10 distribution from 80-100 μgm -3 in 2019 to 20-40 μgm -3 during the lockdown. The PM 2.5 levels in peak frequency distribution were recorded in the 35-40 μgm -3 bin in 2019 which dropped to 15-20 μgm -3 in 2020. In line with particulate matter, other primary gaseous pollutants (NO x , CO, SO 2 , NH 3 ) also showed decline. However, changes in O 3 showed mixed trends with enhancements in some of the phases and reductions in other phases. In contrast to daily mean O 3 , 8-h maximum O 3 showed a reduction over Delhi during lockdown phases except for phase 3. Interestingly, the time of daily maximum was observed to be delayed by ~ 2 h over Delhi (from 1300 to 1500 h) and ~ 1 h over Kolkata (from 1300 to 1400 h) almost coinciding with the time of maximum temperature, highlighting the role of meteorology versus precursors. Plants are subject to a variety of abiotic stresses contributed to yield losses of up to 50%, posing a significant challenge to global food production. To cope with drought stress, of 205 bacterial cultures investigated for moisture stress tolerant potential, 16 cultures showed promising results in improving the majority of plant growth ameliorating activities under water stress and non-stress conditions. Growth kinetics and plant growth ameliorating activities declined significantly with the increase in water stress level. Most of the isolates tolerant to water stress were Streptomyces and Pseudomonas species. Of these, four strains with the best results were selected for growing tomato under water stress conditions. The imposition of water stress severely inhibited the growth of tomato plants. However, bacterial strains alleviated the stress and enhanced plant growth performance. Antioxidant activity showed a promising result of protection from reactive oxygen species produced in plants because of water stress. Plants treated with bioinoculants also exhibited a substantial decline in lipid peroxidation. Water stress significantly reduced the yield of tomato. However, bioinoculants treated plants demonstrated significantly higher yields than untreated plants. Nutrient uptake and fruit quality also improved in the treated plants. In the present study, we have estimated the emission factors (EFs) of particulate matter (PM), organic and elemental carbon (OC and EC), oxide of sulfur and nitrogen, and water-soluble ionic species emitted from residential fuels (fuelwood, crop residue, dung cake) used in the rural sector of five states (Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu) of the southern region of India. Average EFs of PM, OC, and EC from fuelwood (FW), crop residues (CR), and dung cakes (DC) from southern region of India are estimated as follows: PM: 6.35 ± 5.64 g/kg (FW), 6.99 ± 5.46 g/kg (CR), 9.69 ± 3.73 g/kg (DC); OC: 1.60 ± 1.72 g/kg (FW), 1.50 ± 1.52 g/kg (CR), 3.54 ± 0.75 g/kg (DC); and EC: 0.46 ± 0.53 g/kg (FW), 0.29 ± 0.17 g/kg (CR), 0.21 ± 0.11 g/kg (DC), respectively. Similarly, the average EFs of SO 2 , NO x from FW, CR, and DC are determined to be as follows: SO 2 : 0.40 ± 0.37 g/kg (FW), 1.17 ± 0.25 g/kg (CR), and 0.18 ± 0.10 g/kg (DC); NO x : 1.11 ± 1.22 g/kg (FW), 0.69 ± 0.37 g/kg (CR), and 0.91 ± 0.54 g/kg (DC), respectively. PO 4 3- shows the highest EF from FW (646.02 ± 576.35 mg/kg), CR (531.06 ± 678.29 mg/kg) among all anions followed by Cl - (FW: 512.91 ± 700.35 mg/kg, CR: 661.61 ± 865.46 mg/kg and DC: 104.16 ± 54.01 mg/kg); whereas, Na + shows highest EF from FW (254.05 ± 298.50 mg/kg) and CR (249.36 ± 294.85 mg/kg) among all cations. The total emissions of trace gases, PM, and their chemical composition from FW, CR, and DC have been calculated using laboratory-generated EFs over the southern region of India. There have been no previous attempts to assess coronary plaque morphology in statin-treated patients with combined residual cholesterol and inflammatory risk. The aim of this study was to characterize the morphology using optical coherence tomography (OCT) and to investigate the underlying molecular mechanisms. Two hundred seventy statin-treated patients with stable coronary artery disease who underwent OCT imaging prior to elective percutaneous coronary intervention were included in this single-center retrospective analysis. Subjects were stratified into four groups based on low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels using 70 mg/dl and 2 mg/L as cut-offs, respectively. OCT images of the target lesions were assessed. For a subset of patients, peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) were isolated, and gene expression was characterized using microarray analysis. Patients with high LDL-C and high hs-CRP demonstrated a higher frequency of lipid-rich plaques (LRP) (91%, P = 0.03) by OCT. LRPs in these patients had a greater maximal lipid arc (186.6 ± 92.5°, P = 0.047). In addition, plaques from patients who did not achieve dual-target were less frequently calcified (P = 0.003). If calcification was present, it was characterized by a lower maximal arc (P = 0.016) and shorter length (P = 0.025). PBMC gene expression analysis demonstrated functional enrichment of toll-like receptors (TLRs) 1-9 to be associated with high LDL-C and hs-CRP. Obstructive coronary lesions in patients on statin therapy with combined residual cholesterol and inflammatory risk demonstrated a higher prevalence of LRP with greater maximal lipid arcs and more frequent spotty calcifications. In the present study, total suspended particulate matter (TSP) samples were collected at 47 different sites (47 grids of 5 × 5 km 2 area) of Delhi during winter (January-February 2019) in campaign mode. To understand the spatial variation of sources, TSP samples were analyzed for chemical compositions including carbonaceous species [organic carbon (OC), elemental carbon (EC), and water-soluble organic carbon (WSOC)], water-soluble total nitrogen (WSTN), water-soluble inorganic nitrogen (WSIN), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (16 PAHs), water-soluble inorganic species (WSIS) (F - , Cl - , SO 4 2- , NO 2 - , NO 3 - , PO 4 3- , NH 4 + , Ca 2+ , Mg 2+ , Na + , and K + ), and major and minor trace elements (B, Na, Mg, Al, P, S, Cl, K, Ca, Ti, Fe, Zn, Cr, Mn, Cu, As, Pd, F, and Ag). During the campaign, the maximum concentration of several components of TSP (996 μg/m 3 ) was recorded at the Rana Pratap Bagh area, representing a pollution hotspot of Delhi. The maximum concentrations of PAHs were recorded at Udhyog Nagar, a region close to heavily loaded diesel vehicles, small rubber factories, and waste burning areas. Higher content of Cl - and Cl - /Na + ratio (>1.7) suggests the presence of nonmarine anthropogenic sources of Cl - over Delhi. Minimum concentrations of OC, EC, WSOC, PAHs, and WSIS in TSP were observed at Kalkaji, representing the least polluted area in Delhi. Enrichment factor <5.0 at several locations and a significant correlation of Al with Mg, Fe, Ti, and Ca and C/N ratio indicated the abundance of mineral/crustal dust in TSP over Delhi. MN/CA9 is a cell surface glycoprotein and a tumor-associated antigen. It plays a crucial role in the regulation of cell proliferation and oncogenesis. There is no ideal tumor marker currently available for renal cell carcinoma (RCC) with sufficient sensitivity and specificity. Therefore, we studied MN/CA9 gene expression in the tumor tissue, apparently normal kidney tissue, preoperative blood, and urine samples of patients with RCC. We included thirty cases of renal tumors (26 RCC and 4 benign tumors) in the study. We applied an RT-PCR assay for MN/CA9 gene expression to 26 RCC kidney tumor samples and four benign kidney tumor tissue samples. We also evaluated MN/CA9 gene expression in preoperative blood and urine samples of 15 of these cases. Additionally, thirty-five grossly normal renal tissue samples, including 21 from kidneys with RCC, were also evaluated for gene expression. The RT-PCR analysis revealed that twenty-one out of 26 RCC tissue samples showed MN/CA9 gene expression compared to three out of 35 non-malignant renal tissue samples (p < 0.05). Two out of four benign renal tissue samples also expressed this gene. We also observed MN/CA9 gene expression in nine out of 15 blood samples and four out of 15 urine samples. All patients with urinary MN/CA9 gene expression showed expression in blood and tumor tissue samples. We found a correlation in terms of MN/CA9 expression between blood and tumor tissue samples of RCC patients as those who exhibit MN/CA9 expression in blood were also positive at the tumor tissue levels. The difference in MN/CA9 gene expression in tumor tissue, blood, and urine samples in relation to the stage of the disease, nuclear grade, and histological cell-type was not statistically significant. However, all the three patients who had metastatic RCC had MN/CA9 gene expression in their blood. Patients with diabetes mellitus are at increased risk of cardiovascular events. We aimed to analyze the impact of serum HbA1c levels on coronary plaque characteristics in stable coronary disease. Two hundred sixty-one patients who underwent optical coherence tomography (OCT) examination before elective percutaneous coronary intervention for a de novo obstructive lesions were included in this single-center retrospective analysis. Patients were divided into tertiles according to HbA1c level (tertile 1: HbA1c < 6.3%, tertile 2: 6.3 ≤ HbA1c < 7.8%, tertile 3: HbA1c ≥ 7.8%) and OCT findings were compared. Fibrous cap thickness (FCT) was significantly thinner in tertile 3 compared to tertile 1 and tertile 2 (103.9 ± 48.2 µm [tertile 1] vs. 107.5 ± 60.6 µm [tertile 2] vs. 86.2 ± 35.8 µm [tertile 3], p = 0.03). Higher prevalence of thin-cap fibroatheroma (TCFA) was observed in tertile 3 vs tertile 1 and tertile 2 (19.5% [tertile 1] vs. 19.5% [tertile 2] vs. 33.3% [tertile 3], p = 0.04). HbA1c inversely correlated with FCT (beta coefficient - 4.89, 95% confidence interval - 8.40 to - 1.39, p < 0.01). The logistic regression model revealed that the probability of having TCFA was positively associated with HbA1c with a small change in the range of low and medium HbA1c and a big change in the range of high HbA1c. Furthermore, minimal lumen area and reference lumen area were smaller in tertile 3. In patients with stable coronary disease, high serum HbA1c levels are associated with higher plaque burden and thinner FCT on OCT, while low and medium HbA1c levels result in similar plaque vulnerability., (© 2022. This research paper deals with the experimental investigation of solar energy-based water purifier (SEBWP) of single-slope type by incorporating N similar evacuated tubular collectors (ETCs) having series connection. Experimental investigation has been done for a year from August 2018 to July 2019. MATLAB has been used for evaluating performance parameters of the system followed by the validation of these results with their experimental values. A fair agreement has been found between theoretical and experimental values. Values of correlation coefficients for condensing glass temperature, water temperature, and water yield have been found to be 0.9932, 0.9928, and 0.9951 respectively. Further, energy metrics, productivity, cost of producing 1 kg of fresh water, and exergoeconomic and enviroeconomic parameters have been evaluated. Saudi Arabia is dry and devoid of permanent water sources. Saudi Arabia's desalination plants, which provide drinkable water, rely on its oil reserves. It is one of the world's driest countries, but its population uses fresh water at a third rate. Therefore, the most crucial step is to alter people's behavior by using water more efficiently and intelligently by adopting water conservation techniques. Through adopting a strategic water strategy, the Saudi government has simplified the regulatory system in the water sector. It examines the most effective ways to generate and control water through its water policy. This research aims to forecast the water consumption required for different sectors until 2030 in Saudi Arabia and designed an intelligent Water Resource Demand Forecasting (iWRDF) model. This model used the internet of things (IoT) and big data analytics (BDA) in demand forecasting. The experimental outcomes outperform the proposed model with an accuracy of 96.86% than the existing models. The study represents the seasonal characteristics (carbonaceous aerosols and elements) and the contribution of prominent sources of PM 2.5 and PM 10 in the high altitude of the eastern Himalaya (Darjeeling) during August 2018-July 2019. Carbonaceous aerosols [organic carbon (OC), elemental carbon (EC), and water soluble organic carbon (WSOC)] and elements (Al, Fe, Ti, Cu, Zn, Mn, Cr, Ni, Mo, Cl, P, S, K, Zr, Pb, Na, Mg, Ca, and B) in PM 2.5 and PM 10 were analyzed to estimate their possible sources. The annual concentrations of PM 2.5 and PM 10 were computed as 37±12 μg m -3 and 58±18 μg m -3 , respectively. In the present case, total carbonaceous species in PM 2.5 and PM 10 were accounted for 20.6% of PM 2.5 and 18.6% of PM 10 , respectively, whereas trace elements in PM 2.5 and PM 10 were estimated to be 15% of PM 2.5 and 12% of PM 10 , respectively. Monthly and seasonal variations in mass concentrations of carbonaceous aerosols and elements in PM 2.5 and PM 10 were also observed during the observational period. In PM 2.5 , the annual concentrations of POC and SOC were 2.35 ± 1.06 μg m -3 (66% of OC) and 1.19±0.57 μg m -3 (34% of OC), respectively, whereas annual average POC and SOC concentrations in PM 10 were 3.18 ± 1.13 μg m -3 (63% of OC) and 2.05±0.98 μg m -3 (37% of OC), respectively. The seasonal contribution of POC and SOC were ranging from 55 to 77% and 33 to 45% of OC in PM 2.5 , respectively, whereas in PM 10 , the seasonal contributions of POC and SOC were ranging from 51 to 73% and 37 to 49% of OC, respectively. The positive relationship between OC & EC and OC & WSOC of PM 2.5 and PM 10 during all the seasons (except monsoon in case of PM 10 ) indicates their common sources. The enrichment factors (EFs) and significant positive correlation of Al with othe crustal elements (Fe, Ca, Mg, and Ti) of fine and coarse mode aerosols indicate the influence of mineral dust at Darjeeling. In today's business, environment natural and manmade disasters like recent event (Covid 19) have increased the attention of practitioners and researchers to Supply chain vulnerability. Purpose of this paper is to investigate and prioritize the factors that are responsible for supply chain vulnerability. Extant literature review and interviews with the experts helped to extract 26 supply chain vulnerability factors. Further, the relative criticality of vulnerability factors is assessed by analytical hierarchy process (AHP). Critical part supplier; location of supplier; long supply chain lead times; Fixing process owners and mis-aligned incentives in supply chain are identified as the most critical factors among twenty-six vulnerability factors. Research concludes that not only long and complex supply chain but supply chain practices adopted by firms also increase supply chain vulnerability. Relative assessment of vulnerability factors enables professionals to take appropriate mitigation strategies to make the supply chains more robust. Huanglongbing (HLB), also known as 'citrus greening', is an extremely destructive disease of citrus worldwide. HLB is associated with three species of the fastidious proteobacterium, Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CaLas), Ca. L. africanus and Ca. L. americanus with CaLas being the most widely distributed around the world and the only species detected and described so far in India, one of the major global citrus fruit producers. Prophages are highly dynamic components in the bacterial genome and play an important role in intraspecies variations. Three types of prophages, Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3 have been identified and described in CaLas so far. In the present study, 441 CaLas isolates sampled across 18 Indian states were used for prophage typing. Based on detection of three prophage types by PCR, all the eight probable combinations of CaLas prophages were identified, including single Type 1 (26.5%), single Type 2 (18.8%), single Type 3 (1.4%), Type 1 + Type 2 (20.4%), Type 1 + Type 3 (12.5%), Type 2 + Type 3 (4.8%), Type 1 + Type 2 + Type 3 (11.3%) and None type (4.3%). Prophage types were confirmed by PCR amplicon sequencing and subsequent phylogenetic analysis. By discovery of all 3 prophages and based on genetic identity and genetic distance, CaLas populations from eighteen citrus growing states were separated into two major Prophage Typing Groups (PTGs): PTG1 and PTG2. The PTG1 comprised of CaLas from North-West India and PTG2 from rest of the country (North-East, Central and South India), and both major groups were further divided into two (PTG1-A, PTG1-B) and three (PTG2-A, PTG2-B and PTG2-C) subgroups respectively. The findings of CaLas population patterns provide evidence for independent origins of HLB-associated CaLas. CRISPR (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats) array was also detected in CaLas isolates. This is the first report evaluating the genetic variation of a large population of CaLas bacterium in India using the PCR markers from the prophage regions which would certainly assist the ongoing HLB management efforts in India.

Citrus greening disease or huanglongbing (HLB) caused by Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus ( C Las) limits citrus production worldwide. C Las is transmitted by the Asian citrus psyllid (ACP), Diaphorina citri (Hemiptera: Psyllidae) in a persistent-propagative manner. Understanding the molecular interaction between C Las and ACP and interrupting the interrelationship can provide an alternative to insecticides for managing citrus greening disease. Transcriptome analysis of ACP in response to C Las showed differential expression of 3911 genes (2196 upregulated, and 1715 downregulated) including the key genes of ACP involved in cytoskeleton synthesis and nutrition-related proteins, such as vitellogenins, extensin, laminin, tropomyosin, troponin C, and flightin. Majority of the differentially expressed genes were categorized under molecular functions followed by cellular components and biological processes. KEGG pathway analysis showed differential regulation of carbohydrate, nucleotide, and energy metabolic pathways, the endocytotic pathway, and the defense-related pathways. Differential regulation of genes associated with the key pathways might favour C Las to become systemic and propagate in its insect vector. The study provides an understanding of genes involved in circulation of C Las in ACP. Listeriosis is a major foodborne infection provoked by a bacterium known as Listeria monocytogenes. It is one of the predominant causes of death in pregnant women, infants, and immunocompromised persons. Despite such fatal effects, until now there is no proper medication or drug available for such a serious foodborne infection. One of the most promising ways to deal with this challenge is vaccination. This present study aims at the prediction of B cell epitopes for subunit vaccine designing against Listeria monocytogenes using a reverse vaccinology approach. Among screened out 299 epitopes of strain F2365 of Listeria monocytogenes , based on the VaxiJen score, the top 20 epitopes were selected. 3D modeling of epitopes and alleles was generated by PEPstrMOD and Swiss Model respectively. Molecular docking reveals 4 epitopes viz., MKFLFPLKL, CEETFGIRL, FLKIDPPIL, and VRHHGGGHK based on binding energy. All 4 epitopes were investigated for non-toxicity, binding affinity, and population coverage. After vigorous investigation, epitope FLKIDPPIL was anticipated as the best vaccine contender. The stability of the FLKIDPPIL-HLA DRB1 &#95;0101 complex was proved by performing the simulation. With time, the Nipah virus has been proved as a fatal and dangerous pathogen for humanity. Nipah virus has its origin from bats and severely affects the respiratory as well as neurological organs. Regular outbreaks and unavailability of proper treatment for Nipah virus infection, demands the designing of vaccine for this disease. This prediction study was conducted to explore B cell epitopes from the Nipah virus's proteome using the immunoinformatics approach. In this curious quest of anticipation of antigenic sites for the Insilico peptide vaccine for the Nipah virus, nine NV-B strain proteins were retrieved for further series of investigations. After sequential refining through immunoinformatics approaches, a total of 26 epitopes was selected to perform molecular modeling and docking. PEPstrMOD and Swiss model, respectively performed 3D modeling of epitopes with their respective alleles. Based on minimum binding energy, four epitopes viz. LHLGNFVRR, LNLSPLIQR, YHNMSPINR and FRRNNAIAF were predicted as promiscuous B cell epitopes. Based on low binding affinity and high population coverage worldwide, epitope LHLGNFVRR was finally selected. Increased Stability of the LHLGNFVRR- HLA DRB&#95;1301 complex during simulation studies exhibit it as the most promising vaccine bidder. The present work deals with the seasonal variations in the contribution of sources to PM 2.5 and PM 10 in Delhi, India. Samples of PM 2.5 and PM 10 were collected from January 2013 to December 2016 at an urban site of Delhi, India, and analyzed to evaluate their chemical components [organic carbon (OC), elemental carbon (EC), water-soluble inorganic components (WSICs), and major and trace elements]. The average concentrations of PM 2.5 and PM 10 were 131 ± 79 μg m -3 and 238 ± 106 μg m -3 , respectively during the entire sampling period. The analyzed and seasonally segregated data sets of both PM 2.5 and PM 10 were used as input in the three different receptor models, i.e., principal component analysis-absolute principal component score (PCA-APCS), UNMIX, and positive matrix factorization (PMF), to achieve conjointly corroborated results. The present study deals with the implementation and comparison of results of three different multivariate receptor models (PCA-APCS, UNMIX, and PMF) on the same data sets that allowed a better understanding of the probable sources of PM 2.5 and PM 10 as well as the comportment of these sources with respect to different seasons. PCA-APCS, UNMIX, and PMF extracted similar sources but in different contributions to PM 2.5 and PM 10 . All the three models extracted 7 similar sources while mutually confirmed the 4 major sources over Delhi, i.e., secondary aerosols, vehicular emissions, biomass burning, and soil dust, although the contribution of these sources varies seasonally. PCA-APCS and UNMIX analysis identified a less number of sources (besides mixed type) as compared to the PMF, which may cause erroneous interpretation of seasonal implications on source contribution to the PM mass concentration.

Presently, novel coronavirus outbreak 2019 (COVID-19) is a major threat to public health. Mathematical epidemic models can be utilized to forecast the course of an epidemic and cultivate approaches for controlling it. This paper utilizes the real data of spreading COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia for mathematical modeling and complex analyses. This paper introduces the Susceptible, Exposed, Infectious, Recovered, Undetectable, and Deceased (SEIRUD) and Machine learning algorithm to predict and control COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia.This COVID-19 has initiated many methods, such as cloud computing, edge-computing, IoT, artificial intelligence. The use of sensor devices has increased enormously. Similarly, several developments in solving the COVID-19 crisis have been used by IoT applications. The new technology relies on IoT variables and the roles of symptoms using wearable sensors to forecast cases of COVID-19. The working model involves wearable devices, occupational therapy, condition control, testing of cases, suspicious and IoT elements. Mathematical modeling is useful for understanding the fundamental principle of the transmission of COVID-19 and providing guidance for possible predictions. The method suggested predicts whether COVID-19 would expand or die in the long term in the population. The mathematical study results and related simulation are described here as a way of forecasting the progress and the possible end of the epidemic with three forms of scenarios: 'No Action,' 'Lockdowns and New Medicine.' The lock case slows it down the peak by minimizing infection and impacts area equality of the infected deformation. This study familiarizes the ideal protocol, which can support the Saudi population to breakdown spreading COVID-19 in an accurate and timely way. Down syndrome (DS) is a developmental disorder that results from the trisomy of chromosome 21. DS patients show several abnormalities including cognitive deficits. Here, we show enhanced activation of the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), a kinase that critically regulates synaptic plasticity and memory, in a hippocampal cell line derived from trisomy 16 mouse foetus. In addition, these cells show enhanced activation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK). The hyper-activation of ERK and p38 MAPK is significantly reduced by a small peptide, Gly-Pro-Glu (GPE), derived from insulin-like growth factor-1. In addition, the trisomic cells show reduced level of inhibitory phosphorylation of glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK-3β), which is enhanced by GPE. Furthermore, the trisomic cells do not show ERK activation in response to KCl depolarization or forskolin treatment. Importantly, ERK activation by these stimuli is observed after GPE treatment of the cells. These results suggest that GPE may help reduce aberrant signalling in the trisomic neurons by affecting MAPK and GSK-3β activation.

Dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) is a promising method of producing non-thermal plasma, which is widely used in variety of industrial and biological applications including disinfection/sterilization. Plasma sterilization offers a faster, less toxic and versatile alternative to conventional sterilization techniques. 45 kV, 50 kHz high voltage high-frequency power supply was designed for generating DBD plasma. Experimental studies were conducted using DBD plasma on growth control in algae, breakdown of complex phenols for chemical wastewater treatment and generation of UV, ozone and other reactive species using DBD plasma discharges in ambient air. A portable DBD plasma-based sterilization system is developed for fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. Quartz tube is used as a dielectric medium between copper foil-SS electrodes and 17 kV, 30 kHz pulse is applied across it, which produces intense DBD across SS mesh. This system can sterilize and disinfect the microorganism contaminated surfaces, garments and used disposable protective gears with UV, ozone and short-lived molecules of metastable states and excited chemical species of nitrogen and oxygen produced during the DBD plasma discharges in ambient air., (© Indian National Academy of Engineering 2020.)

This Study entitled "the study of the aetiological factors of failures of myringoplasty" was planned to find the various aetiological factors causing failure of myringoplasty and suggests remedial steps to improve the results in future. This observational study was carried in the Department of E.N.T, on patients who had undergone myringoplasty from Jan 2013 to June 2016. Total 905 patients operated in the above mentioned duration. 685 patients were operated during Jan 2013 to June 2015, who were studied retrospectively (only 540 came for follow up), and 220 patients were operated during June 2015 to June 2016 were studied prospectively. The patients who came to the OPD for follow up, were thoroughly reviewed and the re-perforation was seen in 53 patients. Total nine factors causing myringoplasty failure were studied, 4 factors i.e. size of perforation, site of perforation, eustachian tube function, and surgeons experience significantly affects the surgical outcome of myringoplasty while age, tympanosclerotic patch, type of anaesthesia, wet or dry graft placement, and deviated nasal septum does not affects the myringoplasty failure. For improvement of result in future, Eustachian tube dysfunction, symptomatic deviated nasal septum should be corrected before the surgery. Electrical activities of excitable cells produce diverse spiking-bursting patterns. The dynamics of the neuronal responses can be changed due to the variations of ionic concentrations between outside and inside the cell membrane. We investigate such type of spiking-bursting patterns under the effect of an electromagnetic induction on an excitable neuron model. The effect of electromagnetic induction across the membrane potential can be considered to analyze the collective behavior for signal processing. The paper addresses the issue of the electromagnetic flow on a modified Hindmarsh-Rose model (H-R) which preserves biophysical neurocomputational properties of a class of neuron models. The different types of firing activities such as square wave bursting, chattering, fast spiking, periodic spiking, mixed-mode oscillations etc. can be observed using different injected current stimulus. The improved version of the model includes more parameter sets and the multiple electrical activities are exhibited in different parameter regimes. We perform the bifurcation analysis analytically and numerically with respect to the key parameters which reveals the properties of the fast-slow system for neuronal responses. The firing activities can be suppressed/enhanced using the different external stimulus current and by allowing a noise induced current. To study the electrical activities of neural computation, the improved neuron model is suitable for further investigation.

Seasonal snow cover in the Himalayas acts as source of fresh water for several Asian rivers such as Indus, Ganges, Brahmaputra, and Yangtze. Early loss of seasonal snow exposes the ice layer of the glaciers directly to sunlight, consequently leading to their ablation and alterations in discharge of glacier-fed rivers. Therefore, any alteration in the melting rate of the Himalayan snow pack can significantly affect the ecological balance in the region. Besides global warming, enhanced melting of snow, caused by light-absorbing impurities (LAIs) such as dust and elemental carbon (EC), has also been recognized as prominent cause of enhanced melting of snow in the Himalayas of China and Nepal. However, in light of vast area of the Himalayas and persistent emissions from India, studies, emphasizing the potential of LAIs to substantially affect the snow radiation budget of snow cover in IWHs, are still scanty. Therefore, in this study, field campaigns were made on three glaciers, i.e., Hamta, Beas Kund, and Deo Tibba, in IWHs to collect snow samples for estimation of LAIs. Snow of the studied glaciers was observed to be contaminated with 13.02 to 74.57 ng/g of EC and 32.14 to 216.54 μg/g of dust. Albedo simulations done using SNow and ICe Aerosol Radiation (SNICAR) model indicated that besides the changes caused by increased grain size, EC and dust, cumulatively induced 0.60 to 32.65% reduction in albedo of snow. Further assessment, constrained by measurements, illustrated that radiative forcing (RF), of 1.8 to 80 W/m 2 , was instigated due to enhanced thermal absorption of snow. Ten hours of daily mean RFs in this range could correspond to 3 to 9.65 mm/d of snow melt and contribute significantly in reducing the seasonal snow cover in IWHs. Considering the consequences of LAIs-induced snow melt and lack of in situ observations in the IWHs, the outcomes of this study could assist researchers and policy makers in developing efficient climate models and framing mitigation measures, respectively.

High-brightness white-light-emitting diodes (w-LEDs) with excellent color quality is demonstrated by using nontoxic nanomaterials. Previously, we have reported the high color quality w-LEDs with heavy-metal phosphor and quantum dots (QDs), which may cause environmental hazards. In the present work, liquid-type white LEDs composed of nontoxic materials, named as graphene and porous silicon quantum dots are fabricated with a high color rendering index (CRI) value gain up to 95. The liquid-typed device structure possesses minimized surface temperature and 25% higher value of luminous efficiency as compare to dispensing-typed structure. Further, the as-prepared device is environment friendly and attributed to low toxicity. The low toxicity and high R9 (87) component values were conjectured to produce new or improve current methods toward bioimaging application.

The study presents the spatial and temporal variation of fine ambient aerosols (PM 2.5 ) over National Capital Region (NCR), India, during January to June 2016. The investigation includes three sampling sites, one in Delhi and two in the adjoining states of Delhi (Uttar Pradesh and Haryana), across NCR, India. The average PM 2.5 concentration was highest for Delhi (128.5 ± 51.5 μg m -3 ) and lowest for Mahendragarh, Haryana (74.5 ± 28.7 μg m -3 ), during the study period. Seasonal variation was similar for all the sites with highest concentration during winter and lowest in summer. PM 2.5 samples were analysed for organic compounds using gas chromatograph (GC). The concentration of three organic compound classes, n-alkanes (C11-C35), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and phthalates, present in PM 2.5 samples has been reported. Diagnostic ratios for n-alkanes demonstrated that biogenic emissions were dominant over Mahendragarh while major contributions were observed from petrogenic emissions over Delhi and Modinagar, Uttar Pradesh. Molecular diagnostic ratios were calculated to distinguish between different sources of PAHs, which revealed that the fossil fuel combustion (diesel and gasoline emissions), traffic emissions, and biomass burning are the major source contributors. Health risk associated with human exposure of phthalates and PAHs was also assessed as daily intake (DI, ng kg -1  day -1 ) and lung cancer risk, respectively. Backward trajectory analysis explained the local, regional, and long-range transport routes of PM 2.5 for all sites. Principal component analysis (PCA) results summarized that the vehicular emissions, biomass burning, and plastic burning were the major sources of the PAHs and phthalates over the sampling sites.

Citrus tristeza virus (CTV, genus Closterovirus ) is one of the most serious pathogens responsible for huge loss of citrus trees worldwide. Four Indian CTV isolates, Kat1 ( C. reticulata /Central India), D1 ( C. sinensis /North India), B5 ( Citrus limettoides /South India) and G28 ( C. lemon /Northeast India) collected from different regions of India were characterized based on sequencing of 3' half genome (~ 8.4 kb) comprising 10 open reading frames (ORFs2-11) and 3' UTR and the sequences were submitted to NCBI database as Acc. No KJ914662, HQ912022, HQ912023 and KJ914661, respectively. The present and previously reported Indian isolates Kpg3 and B165 were analyzed and compared with other Asian and international CTV isolates. The Indian CTV isolates had 92-99% nt identities among them. The phylogenetic analysis generated overall ten genogroups/lineages. Of them, all the Asian isolates fell into seven genogroups, whereas the Indian isolates into four. Indian isolates Kat1, D1 and Kpg3 grouped together, termed "Kpg3Gr", along with Florida severe isolate T3. The Indian isolates B5, and G28 were found to be two distinct and separate lineages, indicating that these isolates are two new CTV entities. Based on phylogenetic analysis, Kpg3Gr was identified as "Indian VT" subtype which is distinct from the Asian and the Western VT subtype within diversified VT genotype. The recombination detecting-program, RDP4 detected Indian isolates Kat1, B5, B165 and G28 as recombinants, where G28 as strong recombinant. The present study determined the occurrence of at least four CTV genotypes, B5 (distinct), B165 (T68 type) G28 (distinct) and Kpg3Gr in citrus growing regions of India.

For source identification, a field campaign involving simultaneous sampling of particulate matter (PM 10 ) was conducted at eight sampling sites in the Indian mainland during winter 2014. The sampling sites include Delhi (upper IGP), Lucknow (middle IGP), and Kolkata (lower IGP) in the Indo-Gangetic Plains (IGP); Mohal-Kullu and Darjeeling in the Indo-Himalayan Range (IHR). In addition, Ajmer, located upwind of the IGP in NW-India and Giridih and Bhubaneswar, in the downwind to the IGP has also been chosen. To characterize the sources of the ambient PM 10 , stable isotope ratios of carbon (δ 13 C TC ) and nitrogen (δ 15 N TN ) for the total carbon (TC) and total nitrogen (TN) fractions have been considered. Ancillary chemical parameters, such as organic carbon (OC), elemental carbon (EC), and water-soluble ionic components (WSIC) mass concentrations are also presented in this paper. There was very small variation in the daily average δ 13 C TC ratios (- 24.8 to - 25.9‰) among the sites. Comparison with end-member stable C isotopic signatures of major typical sources suggests that the PM 10 at the sites was mainly from fossil fuel and biofuel and biomass combustion. Daily average δ 15 N TN ratios were not observed to vary much between sites either (8.3 to 11.0‰), and the low δ 15 N TN levels also indicate substantial contributions from biofuel and biomass burning of primarily C3 andC4 plant matter. Diverse chilli genetic resources of North East India occupy a unique niche in the Nation's chilli gene pool. Widely cultivated chilli landraces (King chilli: Capsicum chinense , bird eye chilli: Capsicum frutescens and Capsicum annuum ) of North East India in general and Manipur in particular suffer from decline complex due to high incidence of viral diseases. With this background and the known prominent distribution of Chilli veinal mottle virus (ChiVMV) in Asian region, we studied its prevalence and association with diverse symptoms of chilli landraces. Molecular indexing of samples from 40 chilli plantation groves of Manipur using reverse transcription (RT)-PCR targeting the coat protein (CP) region of ChiVMV genome revealed a high incidence and wide prevalence. Out of a total of 127 chilli samples collected from different groves of Manipur, 81 chilli samples (63.78%) were positive for ChiVMV. Interestingly, ChiVMV infection rate was comparatively higher in the hilly groves (69.23% samples positive) compared to the valley groves (60% samples positive). Present study through the extensive surveys and molecular indexing work, conclusively reported the association of ChiVMV with diverse symptoms like cupping of leaf lamina with mottling, vein banding and puckering in different chilli landraces. Further, five representative ChiVMV isolates sampled from different groves of Manipur upon mechanical inoculation showed significant variation in symptom expression, indicating wide pathogenic diversity among them. Partial coat protein (CP) sequence analysis of five ChiVMV isolates from Manipur although indicated genetic homogeneity among them, but distinctiveness from ChiVMV isolates reported from the other parts of India. Deterioration in the groundwater quality is prevalent in many parts of the eastern and north-eastern India; however, little attention has been paid for its assessment. In order to evaluate the groundwater suitability in the north-eastern region of India, this study was carried out in Barpeta District of Assam. The groundwater samples were collected from various locations to represent the overall water quality of the district. Suitability was assessed in terms of its usability for drinking and irrigation. It was found that the groundwater samples are contaminated with high amount of arsenic, which refers that water is unfit for consumption as well as agricultural activities. Hydrogeological studies revealed that regional geological factors might be responsible for excess arsenic concentration in the region. Overall, groundwater quality was found to be alkaline having moderate hardness with high amount of iron, manganese, and lead as well.
