This book constitutes the proceedings of the Second International Conference on Human and Artificial Rationalities, HAR 2023, which took place in Paris, France, in September 2023. The 18 full and 5 short papers included in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 39 submissions. They were organized in topical sections as follows: Human and artificial thinking; human thinking and reasoning; neuropsychology and interaction; artificial agents and interaction; and applied reasoning. The shift of weather patterns has affected the incidence and prevalence of infectious diseases, including mycoses. Mycoses have remained neglected due to a lack of training and recognition within the medical community. Nonetheless, these diseases remain common worldwide while frequently being underdiagnosed. Climate change affects the distribution of fungal communities, provoking outbreaks in locations where these mycoses were absent or in low frequencies. The Advanced Study Institute on'Quantum Dynamics of Molecules: The New Experimental Challenge to Theorists,'which was sponsored by the Scientific Affairs Division of NATO, was held at Trinity Hall, Ca~bridge, England from September 15th till September 29th, 1979. In all, a total of 79 lecturers and students attended the meeting: they had diverse backgrounds in chemistry, physics and mathematics. In my proposal to NATO requesting financial support for an Advanced Study Institute, I suggested that molecular physics was facing a qualitatively new experimental situation in which the exploration of previously inaccessible dynamical phenomena would become of increasing importance. At the same time I was aware that in recent years powerful theoretical techniques, that might prove crucial tools for the interpretation of the new experiments, have been developed in mathematics and theoretical physics. The aim of the ASI was to review at an advanced level these recent developments, juxtaposing new theory with new experimental pos­ sibilities in the hope that the participants in the-Institute would through their subsequent work increase the awareness of the whole molecular theory community of the changing nature of chemical physics. The recent developments in laser spectroscopy, particle scatter­ ing experiments and molecular beam technology imply that an entirely new class of phenomena involving molecules in gasses and liquids can now be investigated.

The common solutions of a finite number of polynomial equations in a finite number of variables constitute an algebraic variety. The degrees of freedom of a moving point on the variety is the dimension of the variety. A one-dimensional variety is a curve and a two-dimensional variety is a surface. A three-dimensional variety may be called asolid. Most points of a variety are simple points. Singularities are special points, or points of multiplicity greater than one. Points of multiplicity two are double points, points of multiplicity three are tripie points, and so on. A nodal point of a curve is a double point where the curve crosses itself, such as the alpha curve. A cusp is a double point where the curve has a beak. The vertex of a cone provides an example of a surface singularity. A reversible change of variables gives abirational transformation of a variety. Singularities of a variety may be resolved by birational transformations.

AIDS is a major worldwide health care crisis. One of the most important aspects of the disease is the loss of protective immune function in the infected host which leads to increased prevalence of opportunistic infections and cancers. Of particular note are viral-associated cancers. Aids-Associated Viral Oncogenesis will specifically address viral-induced human cancers. Topics will cover the viral associated cancers observed in the AIDS population, specific treatment required in this special population, and molecular biology of the causative viral agents.
