Despite their inclusion as first-line therapy for many chronic diseases, lifestyle interventions are often de-emphasized in medical education and fail to make it into the repertoire of non-lifestyle medicine trained clinicians. We sought to address this gap in medical education by creating a concise pocket guide to lifestyle medicine that lends itself to use in the face-to-face clinical setting. With input from lifestyle medicine experts, the guide was created by medical students for medical students as well as other healthcare professionals for use in a variety of clinical settings. To understand the relation between artistic reputation and sales prices from popular online auction sites, we analyzed over 3,000 online auction sales of 87 American artists who had expertise in watercolor using the websites eBay, LiveAuctioneers, and EBTH. Traditional indexes of reputation were measured by museum placements, as well as archival holdings, and book references and we also included the number of Instagram mentions. We used hierarchical linear modeling to investigate the relation of reputation with average prices as well as price trends over time, controlling for individual painting characteristics such as size and medium. All of our artistic reputation indicators, including number of Instagram hashtag references, were positively related to the average sales price per artist. Our results extend the literature on the role of artistic reputation to account for social media via Instagram, as well as provide one of the first empirical investigations of popular online art auctions. Background: Next-generation sequencing (NGS) has been widely used to identify targetable variants for patients with solid tumors, especially lung cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) has emerged as an alternative approach for tumor biopsy. However, the feasibility of ctDNA in detecting molecular variants remains debatable. Methods: Herein, we performed NGS on matched tissue and plasma samples from 146 Chinese patients with lung cancer. The concordance of variants between tissue and plasma samples was explored at patient and variant levels. Results: More than 80% of patients harbored at least one concordant variant in tissue and plasma samples. A total of 506 variants were shared between tissue and plasma samples, and 432 variants were identified in tissue only and 92 variants were identified in plasma only. The sensitivity and positive predictive value (PPV) of all variants detected in plasma were 53.9% and 84.6%, respectively. High concordance was observed in several driver genes. In details, epidermal growth factor receptor exon 19 deletion (EGFR 19del), EGFR p.S768I, anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) fusion, rearranged during transfection (RET) fusion, and kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (KRAS) p.G12C achieved a sensitivity of 90%, 100%, 85.7%, 100%, and 85.7%, respectively. Four EGFR -altered lung adenocarcinoma patients who underwent ctDNA-based NGS at initial diagnosis benefited from first-line gefitinib/icotinib with a median progression-free survival of 379.5 days. Conclusions: Our work provided the clinical evidence of feasibility of ctDNA-based NGS in guiding decision-making in treatment. ctDNA-based NGA could be a reliable alternative approach for tissue biopsy in patients with lung cancer. Objective: Access to services and workforce shortages are major challenges in rural areas worldwide. In order to improve access to mental health care, it is imperative to understand what services are available, what their capacity is and where existing funds might be spent to increase availability and accessibility. The aim of this study is to investigate mental health service provision in a selection of rural and remote areas across Australia by analysing service availability, placement capacity and diversity. Method: This research studies the health regions of Western New South Wales and Country Western Australia and their nine health areas. Service provision was analysed using the DESDE-LTC system for long-term care service description and classification that allows international comparison. Rates per 100,000 inhabitants were calculated to compare the care availability and placement capacity for children and adolescents, adults and older adults. Results: The lowest diversity was found in northern Western Australia. Overall, Western New South Wales had a higher availability of non-acute outpatient services for adults, but hardly any acute outpatient services. In Country Western Australia, substantially fewer non-acute outpatient services were found, while acute services were much more common. Acute inpatient care services were more common in Western New South Wales, while sub-acute inpatient services and non-acute day care services were only found in Western New South Wales. Conclusion: The number and span of services in the two regions showed discrepancies both within and between regions, raising issues on the equity of access to mental health care in Australia. The standard description of the local pattern of rural mental health care and its comparison across jurisdictions is critical for evidence-informed policy planning and resource allocation. The purpose of this essay is to explore the meanings of the widely used terms compliance and adherence and the less widely used term concordance and to raise questions about the appropriateness of these terms when used to describe individuals' or groups' health-related behaviors. Discussion focuses on how recognition of how the meanings of these terms has uncovered the failure to honor nursing's emphasis on person/patient-centered care due to power imbalances between healthcare providers and patents and the subsequent lack of patient autonomy. Consideration of these problems with existing terms could facilitate identification of a potentially more appropriate term based on the language of a nursing conceptual model and/or theory. This article reports on the development of a Stage 3 manual (following pilot effectiveness study) for implementing occupational therapy using Ayres Sensory Integration® (OT/ASI) for children with autism spectrum disorders to enhance participation in daily occupations. Three stakeholder groups were surveyed to aid in translation of manual from research to practice (i.e., Stage 3 manual) and an expert consensus meeting was held to finalize recommendations. Data indicated that the manuals usability could be improved by including a section on frequently encountered problems and solutions, and by including video case examples. Also recommended were greater chapter uniformity, improved clarity of forms and charts, and inclusion of a glossary. Changes were made and subject to expert review and consensus using modified Delphi process. The Stage 3 manual has been rigorously vetted and is ready for practice and research replication. This study aimed to assess the content validity of a catalog of 76 judo exercises. Two groups of raters comprising 16 judo experts evaluated the following content validity indicators: Clarity of Language, Practical Pertinence, Theoretical Relevance, and the Dimension of each exercise. The results confirmed the content validity of the judo training catalog with indicators showing scores greater than 0.80. These findings suggest that all 76 judo exercises are pertinent, representative of judo training and understandable for judo coaches. Social work education has historically been grounded in professional practice but recent discussions have urged a reconsideration of social work as a science. Social work is progressively doing more intervention work, service systems research, implementation research, and translational research which are elevating research standards to new levels of sophistication. Because social work is also receiving greater recognition at the federal level, it seems that now is the appropriate time for the profession to review how education is done and the place that social work as a science should hold in our doctoral programs. This article critiques current literature and finds that the term social work as a science is frequently missing in the language and terminology of the social work encyclopedia and desk reference, but the term evidence-based practice replaces or makes up for missing references. Some of the key social work organizations also lack the emphasis on social work as science in the framework of their mission statements. Alternative possibilities are given in creating new mission statements, designing curriculum for doctoral education, and revamping accreditation standards for required graduate and undergraduate social work education. A pocket guide on management of substance use during pregnancy was developed by a group of Canadian care providers. One hundred and fifteen family medicine residents in 6 Canadian teaching sites were randomized to receive either the pocket guide or a paper summary on similar clinical topics, based on UpToDate, a comprehensive Web-based resource. At baseline, both groups completed a survey containing questions on beliefs, attitudes, experience, and training on pregnancy and substance use. Participants then answered 28 multiple choice questions about substance use in pregnancy, using either the pocket guide or UpToDate. Finally participants were asked to rate ease of use for the 2 resources. The results showed that the pocket guide group had higher knowledge scores than the UpToDate group overall and at each study site (61.27% vs. 42.86%, P < .001). The residents found the pocket guide easier to use than UpToDate (mean = 2.73 vs. 4.36, P < .001), and were more likely to want to use it again (96% for pocket card, 78% for UpToDate, P = .005). It is concluded that the pocket guide is a practical source of clinical information at point of care, particularly for “orphan” subjects such as substance use in pregnancy. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

Glossaries of introductory textbooks in psychology, biology, and animal behavior were surveyed to find whether they included the word 'behavior'. In addition to texts, encyclopedias and dictionaries devoted to the study of behavior were also surveyed. Of the 138 tests sampled across all three fields, only 38 (27%) included the term 'behavior' in their glossaries. Of the 15 encyclopedias and dictionaries surveyed, only 5 defined 'behavior'. To assess whether the term 'behavior' has disappeared from textbook glossaries or whether it has usually been absent, we sampled 23 introductory psychology texts written from 1886 to 1958. Only two texts contained glossaries, and the word 'behavior' was defined in both, An informal survey was conducted of students enrolled in introductory classes in psychology, biology, and animal behavior to provide data on the consistency of definitions. Students were asked to "define the word 'behavior'." Analysis indicated the definition was dependent upon the course. The libraries are called upon to furnish information of a varied nature. This article discusses the overview and important general references on physiological tests and their uses. The studies depend at significant points on techniques of physiological testing, while at the same time they become the most significant validating procedures for those techniques. This report notes that mobile subscriber numbers in Africa increased by over 1000 percent between 1998 and 2003 to reach 51.8 million. The book IFLA Cataloguing Principles: Steps towards an International Cataloguing Code contains the proceedings of the First IFLA Meeting of Experts on an International Cataloguing Code, which was held at Die Deutsche Bibliothek, the German National Library at Frankfurt/main. Fifty-four cataloguing experts, representing thirty-two European countries, met in July 2003, immediately prior to IFLA's General Conference in Berlin on August 2003.

A book review editor receives a large number of books. Very many of these are clearly not appropriate for review in a journal devoted to research. The topics have ranged from Middle Eastern cookery to devotional essays. There are also some books, which are based on sound research but are not primarily concerned with religion. It is fairly easy to simply list all such books under "Books Received But Not Reviewed." There is however a type of book which is important for people involved in religious research but which does not readily lend itself to the usual book review format. Generally these are reference books, which are basically annotated bibliographies. One such book is "Social Science and the Cults: An Annotated Bibliography" that was prepared by John A. Saliba. In its 600 plus pages, more than 2200 items regarding social scientific research on the matter of cults are summarized. A second book is "Religion Journals and Serials," compiled by Eugene C. Fieg. This is an annotated bibliography, again, but this time one that attempts to assess the value and content of both journals and serials in the field of religion.
