The HOPE Teacher Rating Scale is designed to help guide teachers in identifying gifted students for programming. It is unique in several ways. First, it is short, with only 11 items that measure academic and social/affective components of giftedness, making it easy to use. Second, it is invariant when used to identify students from low-income and culturally diverse families. Third, it can be used across grade levels, K-12. Finally, local norms ensure that the data are relevant to the specific school populations. With multiple measures and multiple pathways crucial for reversing the inequities in identifying culturally, economically, and linguistically diverse students, a teacher-nomination instrument like the HOPE Teacher Rating Scale is an important component of identification systems. The HOPE Teacher Rating Scale items have been well-developed and subjected to research using more than 12,000 diverse students in five validity studies to date. This manual is useful in understanding and interpreting the electronic scores generated from teachers' ratings of their students. This instrument is a must-have for any administrator or gifted-program coordinator involved in student identification.Grades K-12

The mediational role of counsellor burnout and dispositional hope between mindful awareness and counsellor self-efficacy has been examined among 243 professional school counsellors from 72 cities out of 81 in Turkey. With structural equation modelling and a bootstrap method, the results have revealed that counsellor burnout and dispositional hope fully mediated the relationship between mindful awareness and counsellor self-efficacy. This chapter investigates the life stories of ten young adults told while they were under supervision by the Danish Probation Service. All the interviewees have formerly been imprisoned and, during their sentences, they received the psychiatric diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Having such diagnosis late in life, as adolescents or as young adults, provides the teller with a new cultural and highly valuable narrative frame for one’s life story. Life stories refer to the ways people “provide their lives with unity and purpose by constructing internalized and evolving narratives of the self”. Life stories are also crucial in understanding the manifold and central role of stories in society. In this particular case, the stories told by marginalized and deviant people in society, who are re-framed as people with a disability through their encounter with the criminal justice system by the introduction of a medically defined disorder. Supported and reflected by contemporary cultural themes, the diagnosis of ADHD provides a legitimate and meaning frame for understanding and narratively re-constructing life stories and possibly opens up for explaining often “hidden” or “untold” parts of their past in which suffering, losses, and pain are highly present. Life stories always contain moral experiences and a “transformative journey” (Mattingly 2010); they enable one to attend to the processes of change that these individuals are going through, when the interviewees hope for a better future and strive to do good. The chapter will make use of the theoretical framework by Cheryl Mattingly in order to identify different forms of narrative in data.

Healthy babies born after a perinatal loss are colloquially referred to as rainbow babies, as they light up the sky and give hope after the storm. However, the emotional impact of perinatal loss can be devastating and may lead to feelings of grief, complicated grief, anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Furthermore, during subsequent pregnancies, women are faced with the daunting task of confronting new or old feelings of grief/loss while bonding with her unborn child, which can compromise prenatal attachment. Moreover, unresolved grief, postpartum depression, or postpartum anxiety can have a profound effect on postnatal attachment, leading to insecure attachments. In this chapter, the authors review current research related to perinatal loss and subsequent attachment with special consideration for mental health treatment options for women post perinatal loss. Specifically, the reproductive story, embodied storytelling, cognitive behavioral therapy, and establishing continued bonds are highlighted with a case illustration.

With the growth of influencer marketing, so has the establishment of rules in regard to native advertising and sponsored content grown. Viewers more than ever question influencers’ authenticity. This chapter will focus on understanding customers’ attitudes towards YouTube beauty influencers and the differences in their credibility in sponsored and non-sponsored content. By investigating consumer attitudes, we can provide insight into what type of influencer is deemed trustworthy by today’s social norms. We apply the source credibility model in the context of beauty social media personalities to explore each dimension of the model (attractiveness, trustworthiness, and expertise) and its impact on credibility. A quantitative content analysis of 2,591 macro-influencers’ YouTube comments under sponsored and non-sponsored video was conducted to determine whether all of the model’s aspects have an impact on the endorser’s credibility. The findings suggest that there are differences in perceived credibility depending on the type of content watched by the viewer. This can have an impact on influencer marketing campaigns and the future of this discipline.

In this chapter, the author details an account of lectures he delivered to mainly Korean pastors and graduate students of theology at Seoul Christian University and at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. He addresses how one might use scripture as an aid to reflection about depression and despair. Recently, a famous and well-loved Korean movie celebrity, Choi jin-sil, committed suicide in Seoul. Choi jin-sil suffered a mountain of despair from depression. She was divorced and a single mother in a society that shuns such women, despite celebrity status. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-IV) defines depression as a mood disorder and a general dissatisfaction with life. Cultural approaches to depression reflect cultural outlooks on individuals and personhood as well as relationships. The author thinks that three different approaches stand out: the individual approach, the relational approach, and the socio-centric approach. Faith is a confident way of knowing that cannot be justified by reason or proof.
