The article investigates the reasons behind the rising popularity of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in Great Britain. Based on official statistics released by the government, approximately one in four people will suffer from mild to severe bouts of depression at some point in their lives. Worldwide it is the fourth leading cause of ill health and the World Health Organization predicts its incidence will rise during the next 20 years. Indications showed that the use of CBT has grown enormously in the past 20 years because it has been found to be effective in treating different mental and behavioral disorders.
