The author discusses her participation in the Canadian Library Association (CLA) and the association's history and future as of January 2010. The author entered CLA in 1995 when she volunteered on Local Arrangements Committee for CLA's annual conference. According to the author, before she had entered the association, provincial library associations were already members of the CLA council. The author stresses that CLA needs to start a dialogue with Canadian institutions in Canada to utilize creativity, intelligence and passion.

The article describes the experiences of academic libraries at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia and Holland College in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island with the implementation of the software packages LibGuides and SubjectsPlus, respectively. The 27 subject guides were created by five Acadia librarians and one archivist with the assistance of the web technician. LibGuides is described SpringShare as a fully featured web 2.0 content management. The aim of the Holland project is to develop a better method for content management.

The author provides a background on the "Journal of Library and Information Practice and Research" which was established by the Provincial and Territorial Associations in Canada. According to her, the main objective of the periodical is to provide innumerable opportunities to the Canadian library sector in the realm of scholarly communication. The author expresses her gratitude for several people and institutions who helped bring the journal into fruition including editorial board members Sue Adams and Cynthia Archer.

In this article the author recounts her experiences as the founding editor of the journal in her last column as the journal's editor. She describes the growth of the journal, which continues to improve and reaches more and more people. She cites the positives aspects of being a librarian and her being the editor of the journal as it connected her with colleagues and library staff from Canada.

The article discusses the revisions that have been implemented, as well as the proposed changes in the journal.

The author ponders the notion of academic librarianship. She cites that she initially rejected the argument of Atlantic Provinces Library Association (APLA) president Su Cleyle about the decline of academic librarianship but realized later on that the definition of librarianship affects the perception of its condition. She stresses the need for librarians to welcome change. She adds that her openness to change influenced her love for the librarian profession.

The author reflects on the development of the journal "Partnership: The Canadian Journal of Library & Information Practice." She attributes the growth of the journal and the Education Institute and the Career Centre to the professionalism of the editorial staff along with Trudy Amirault, chairman of the Education Institute Committee. She cites her plan to develop screen capture tutorials to help editors and peer reviewers in the submission process. She encourages faculty at Acadia University in Nova Scotia to explore the use of open access publishing.
