We performed a machine learning-aided analysis of the rolling and recrystallization textures in pure iron with different cold reduction ratios and cold-rolling directions. Five types of specimens with different cold reduction ratios and cold-rolling directions were prepared. The effect of two-way cold-rolling on the rolling texture was small at cold reduction ratios different from 60%. The cold reduction ratio in each stage hardly affected the texture evolution during cold-rolling and subsequent short-term annealing. In the case of long-term annealing, although abnormal grain growth occurred, the crystal orientation of the grains varied. Moreover, the direction of cold-rolling in each stage also hardly affected the texture evolution during cold-rolling and subsequent short-term annealing. During long-term annealing, sheets with the same cold-rolling direction in the as-received state and in the first stage showed the texture evolution of conventional one-way cold-rolled pure iron. Additionally, we conducted a machine learning-aided analysis of rolling and recrystallization textures. Using cold-rolling and annealing conditions as the input data and the degree of Goss orientation development as the output data, we constructed high-accuracy regression models using artificial neural networks and XGBoost. As a technology for water landscape performance that considers landscape, ecological, and social effects, nature-based solutions play a crucial role in enhancing the functionality of integrated ecosystem services on the micro-scale. This study conducted a systematic investigation into the landscape performance of the "Clear as a Drain" composite sponge facility at Handan Garden Expo Park. The following conclusions were drawn: (1) In terms of ecological restoration support services, the "Clear as a Drain" artificial wetland exhibited diverse habitat types, a rich variety of plant species specific to the site's region, and high plant diversity indices for shrubs (1.776) and herbaceous aquatic plants (3.352). Reclaimed water reused in the artificial terraced wetland promoted plant growth and diversity while contributing to site self-rehabilitation; plants also significantly contributed to carbon fixation, oxygen release, and carbon emission reduction. (2) Regarding ecological restoration regulation services, the artificial wetland effectively purified reclaimed water with substantial improvements observed in incoming water quality during spring, summer, and autumn—particularly notable purification effects were observed during the summer months. Pollutant reduction rates for COD, BOD5 ammonia nitrogen, TP, and TN reached 75.8%, 72.1%, 93.8%, 96.7%, and 90.3%, respectively; different independent subsystems within the wetland demonstrated distinct advantages in pollutant removal; park plants displayed strong air purification capabilities; annual energy savings from park plants could fully cover daily energy consumption for nearby residents. Acid mine drainage (AMD), arising from mineral resource exploitation, has transformed into a significant global environmental issue for the mining sector, posing considerable risks to water, soil, ecosystems, and human health. In this study, the current status and cutting-edge dynamics of AMD remediation research were evaluated using a bibliometrics approach. Publications on AMD remediation were collected from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) database, and the relevant literature was analyzed quantitatively using various statistical methods, including keyword co-occurrence and burst analysis. In total, 2743 articles related to AMD remediation published from 1990 to 2023 were obtained. The number of publications tended to increase annually, with a relatively fast rate of increase in recent years. Recent research related to AMD remediation has mainly focused on the ecological risks, the environmental geochemical cycling, the application of sulfate-reducing bacteria and adsorption, and the recovery of heavy metals (HMs) and rare earth elements (REEs). It is anticipated that these topics of AMD remediation research are expected to be at the forefront of future research endeavors. In addition, the current status, advantages, and challenges of AMD remediation technologies are discussed from both active and passive management perspectives, providing a theoretical basis and reference for AMD remediation. Drylands are characterized by unique ecosystem types, sparse vegetation, fragile environments, and vital ecosystem services. The accurate mapping of dryland ecosystems is essential for their protection and restoration, but previous approaches primarily relied on modifying land use data derived from remote sensing, lacking the direct utilization of latest remote sensing technologies and methods to map ecosystems, especially failing to effectively identify key ecosystems with sparse vegetation. This study attempts to integrate Google Earth Engine (GEE), random forest (RF) algorithm, multi-source remote sensing data (spectral, radar, terrain, texture), feature optimization, and image segmentation to develop a fine-scale mapping method for an ecologically critical area in northern China. The results showed the following: (1) Incorporating multi-source remote sensing data significantly improved the overall classification accuracy of dryland ecosystems, with radar features contributing the most, followed by terrain and texture features. (2) Optimizing the features set can enhance the classification accuracy, with overall accuracy reaching 91.34% and kappa coefficient 0.90. (3) User's accuracies exceeded 90% for forest, cropland, and water, and were slightly lower for steppe and shrub-steppe but were still above 85%, demonstrating the efficacy of the GEE and RF algorithm to map sparse vegetation and other dryland ecosystems. Accurate dryland ecosystems mapping requires accounting for regional heterogeneity and optimizing sample data and feature selection based on field surveys to precisely depict ecosystem patterns in complex regions. This study precisely mapped dryland ecosystems in a typical dryland region, and provides baseline data for ecological protection and restoration policies in this region, as well as a methodological reference for ecosystem mapping in similar regions. The corrosion behavior of copper was investigated in synthetic tap water with and without sodium hypochlorite (NaClO) at different temperatures during immersion for 70 d by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and electrochemical measurement techniques. The weight loss corrosion rate and pit depth of copper first increase and then decrease with the change in solution temperature from 25 to 80 °C. This is mainly related to the corrosion products formed on the copper surface. The main corrosion products change from Cu2O and Cu2(OH)2CO3 to CuO with the increase in solution temperature. The presence of 3 ppm NaClO slightly increases the weight loss corrosion rate and pit depth of copper under all temperatures except for 50 °C and reduces the temperature of the maximum corrosion rate from 50 to 40 °C. Sub-micro dislocation cellular structures formed during rapid solidification break the strength–ductility trade-off in laser powder bed fusion (LPBF)-processed 316L stainless steel through high-density dislocations and segregated elements or precipitates at the cellular boundaries. The high-density dislocation entangled at the cellular boundary accommodates solidification strains among the cellular structures and cooling stresses through elastoplastic deformation. Columnar grains with cellular structures typically form along the direction of thermal flux. However, the ultra-low misorientations between the adjacent cellular structures and their interactions with the cellular boundary formation remain unclear. In this study, we revealed the ultra-low misorientations between the cellular structures in LPBF-processed 316L stainless steel using conventional electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), transmission Kikuchi diffraction (TKD), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The conventional EBSD and TKD analysis results could provide misorientation angles smaller than 2°, while the resolution mainly depends on the specimen quality and scanning step size, and so on. A TEM technique with higher spatial resolution provides accurate information between adjacent dislocation cells with misorientation angles smaller than 1°. This study presents evidence that the TEM method is the better and more precise analytical method for the misorientation measurement of the cellular structures and provides insights into measuring the small misorientation angles between adjacent dislocation cells and nanograins in nanostructured metals and alloys with ultrafine-grained microstructures. In this study, the electrical performance and bias stability of InSnO/a-InGaZnO (ITO/a-IGZO) heterojunction thin-film transistors (TFTs) are investigated. Compared to a-IGZO TFTs, the mobility (µFE) and bias stability of ITO/a-IGZO heterojunction TFTs are enhanced. The band alignment of the ITO/a-IGZO heterojunction is analyzed by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). A conduction band offset (∆EC) of 0.5 eV is observed in the ITO/a-IGZO heterojunction, resulting in electron accumulation in the formed potential well. Meanwhile, the ∆EC of the ITO/a-IGZO heterojunction can be modulated by nitrogen doping ITO (ITON), which can affect the carrier confinement and transport properties at the ITO/a-IGZO heterojunction interface. Moreover, the carrier concentration distribution at the ITO/a-IGZO heterointerface is extracted by means of TCAD silvaco 2018 simulation, which is beneficial for enhancing the electrical performance of ITO/a-IGZO heterojunction TFTs. CrAlN and CrAlBN coatings were prepared on the surface of high-speed steel and shaper cutter by physical vapor deposition (PVD) technique using arc ion source. In the process of coating preparation, the adhesive layers were deposited by low bias voltage (−40 V) and the working layers are deposited by high bias voltage (−130 V). The effects of the addition of B element on the microstructure, hardness, elastic modulus and wear resistance of CrAlBN coating were studied. The results show that B element and its compounds exist in amorphous form in the coating, resulting in lattice distortion of the coating, increase of coating hardness to 37.1 GPa, and decrease of elastic modulus to 406.2 GPa. The addition of B element increases the uniformity of the columnar structure distribution and decreases the width of the columnar structure and grain size. The resistance to elastic deformation and plastic deformation of CrAlBN coating is improved, the wear resistance is improved. The performance of CrAlN and CrAlBN coatings on shaper cutter was studied. It was found that the main failure mode of shaper cutters is boundary wear and the wear mechanism of coatings had changed obviously. CrAlBN coating is mainly due to fatigue induced failure, accompanied by some diffusion wear. The addition of B element makes the CrAlBN coating have excellent resistance to oxidative wear, abrasive wear and diffusion wear during cutting. The results show that the addition of B element can improve the microstructure and mechanical properties of CrAlN coating, and the preparation of CrAlBN coating on the surface of the shaper cutter can significantly improve the service life of the coated shaper cutter, which has significance for the development of the shaper cutter industry. Under light load conditions, the phase-shifted full-bridge (PSFB) converter often has difficulty in realizing the zero-voltage switching (ZVS) of the lagging-leg by relying on the energy of its resonant inductor; however, for the series-parallel PSFB converter applied in high-power applications, the lagging-leg still has the problem of difficult realization of ZVS. Based on this, the paper analyzes the reasons why the series-parallel PSFB converter has difficulty in achieving ZVS for the lagging-leg under light and heavy loads. Under interleaved control, the ZVS of the lagging-leg over the full load range is realized by adding an auxiliary LC branch at the midpoint of the lagging-leg of both submodules. Based on the double-bridge input-parallel-output-series (IPOS) PSFB converter, analyzing the working principle of the circuit after adding the auxiliary LC branch and extending it to the series-parallel PSFB converter. The design requirements of the LC auxiliary branch of the dual-bridge series-parallel PSFB converter are given and the effects of the LC auxiliary branch on the module operating state and device stress are analyzed. On this basis, an extension is carried out to give the working principle and design method of the auxiliary LC branch of the N-bridge series-parallel PSFB converter. Finally, a 100 kW Matlab/Simulink simulation model verifies the superior performance of the proposed LC auxiliary branch to realize the lagging-leg ZVS of the series-parallel PSFB converter under light and heavy loads and achieves a 1.09% peak efficiency improvement at rated load. Multi-scale coherent structures have been observed in ocean currents, which are induced by the interaction of shear flows with different velocities. Understanding the spatial configuration and scale characteristics of coherent structures will promote the explanation of physical ocean phenomena. Considering the self-similarity, we propose a spatial correlation identification model for coherent structure extraction and three-dimensional visualization based on the wavelet transform and time-dependent intrinsic correlation method. The spatial and scale distributions of coherent structures are related to the dissipation rate variation. Most large-scale coherent structures, with the largest length scale of 13 m, are found to exist in stable fluid, such as the water column below 50 m. However, small-scale structures are found in chaotic fluids, such as the upper layer. Furthermore, we found that coherent structures of different scales coexist simultaneously in the same depth range, indicating a simultaneous multi-scale structure pattern for turbulent flow investigations. The abnormal grain growth of steel, which is occurs during carburization, adversely affects properties such as heat treatment deformation and fatigue strength. This study aimed to control abnormal grain growth by controlling the materials and processes. Thus, it was necessary to investigate the effects of microstructure, precipitation, and heat treatment conditions on abnormal grain growth. We simulated abnormal grain growth using the cellular automaton (CA) method. The simulations focused on the grain boundary anisotropy and dispersion of precipitates. We considered the effect of grain boundary misorientation on boundary energy and mobility. The dispersion state of the precipitates and its pinning effect were considered, and grain growth simulations were performed. The results showed that the CA simulation reproduced abnormal grain growth by emphasizing the grain boundary mobility and the influence of the dispersion state of the precipitate on the occurrence of abnormal grain growth. Dual-phase (DP) steel has been widely used in automotive steel plates with a balance of excellent strength and ductility. Grain refinement in DP steel is important to improve the properties further; however, the factors affecting grain growth need to be well understood. The remaining problem is that acquiring data through experiments is still time-consuming and difficult to evaluate quantitatively. With the development of materials informatics in recent years, material development time and costs are expected to be significantly reduced through experimentation, simulation, and machine learning. In this study, grain growth behavior in DP steel was studied using two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) Monte Carlo modeling and simulation to estimate the effect of some key parameters. Grain growth can be suppressed when the grain boundary energy is greater than the phase boundary energy. When the volume fractions of the matrix and the second phase were equal, the suppression of grain growth became obvious. The long-distance diffuse frequency can promote grain growth significantly. The simulation results allow us to better understand the factors affecting grain growth behavior in DP steel. Machine learning was performed to conduct a sensitivity analysis of the affecting parameters and estimate the magnitude of each parameter's effects on grain growth in the model. Combining MC simulation and machine learning will provide one promising research strategy to gain deeper insights into grain growth behaviors in metallic materials and accelerate the research process. In order to study the interaction between composite photocatalytic material TiO2@LDO and matrix asphalt, the four-component 12 molecular structure model of 70# matrix asphalt was optimized by using software Materials Studio 2020, and its heterostructure with TiO2@LDO composite was modeled. The bonding performance between asphalt and composite photocatalytic material was analyzed by interface energization, and the diffusion performance between asphalt and composite photocatalytic material was analyzed from the perspectives of particle movement and Z-direction density. By changing the temperature and other parameters in the simulation process, the change in bonding strength between TiO2@LDO and asphalt was investigated. Through the calculation and analysis of interaction energy, it was found that the adsorption and bonding strength between asphalt and TiO2@LDO were the strongest at 40 °C. At the same time, the diffusion performance was studied, and it was found that the molecular diffusion distribution of TiO2@LDO was more extensive at 60 °C, which laid the foundation for further blending of asphalt and TiO2@LDO. Austenite–ferrite phase transformation is a crucial metallurgical tool to tailor the properties of steels required for particular applications. Extensive simulation and modeling studies have been conducted to evaluate the phase transformation behaviors; however, some fundamental physical parameters still need to be optimized for better understanding. In this study, the austenite–ferrite phase transformation was evaluated in carbon steels with three carbon concentrations during isothermal annealing at various temperatures using a developed cellular automaton simulation model combined with Bayesian optimization. The simulation results show that the incubation period for nucleation is an essential factor that needs to be considered during austenite–ferrite phase transformation simulation. The incubation period constant is mainly affected by carbon concentration and the optimized values have been obtained as 10−24, 10−19, and 10−21 corresponding to carbon concentrations of 0.2 wt%, 0.35 wt%, and 0.5 wt%, respectively. The average ferrite grain size after phase transformation completion could decrease with the decreasing initial austenite grain size. Some other parameters were also analyzed in detail. The developed cellular automaton simulation model combined with Bayesian optimization in this study could conduct an in-depth exploration of critical and optimal parameters and provide deeper insights into understanding the fundamental physical characteristics during austenite–ferrite phase transformation. The integration of textile-based flexible sensors and electronic devices has accelerated the development of wearable textiles for posture monitoring. The complexity of the processes required to create a complete monitoring product is currently reflected in three main areas. The first is the sensor production process, which is complex. Second, the integration of the sensor into the garment requires gluing or stitching. Finally, the production of the base garment requires cutting and sewing. These processes deteriorate the user experience and hinder the commercial mass production of wearable textiles. In this paper, we knitted a one-piece seamless knitted vest (OSKV) utilizing the one-piece seamless knitting technique and positioned an embedded needle sensing zone (EHSZ) with good textile properties and electrical performance for monitoring human shoulder activity. The EHSZ was knitted together with the OSKV, eliminating the need for an integration process. The EHSZ exhibited good sensitivity (GF = 2.23), low hysteresis (0.29 s), a large stretch range (200%), and excellent stability (over 300 cycles), satisfying the requirement to capture a wide range of deformation signals caused by human shoulder movements. The OSKV described the common vest process structure without the stitching process. Furthermore, OSKV fulfilled the demand for seamless and trace-free monitoring while effortlessly and aesthetically satisfying the knitting efficiency of commercial garments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development highlights the crucial role of education in securing a promising future for humanity, especially in today's digital era. However, the prevalence of smartphones has fostered an increase in students' usage and subsequent digital multitasking tendencies, posing a significant threat to education process, especially in higher education. To gain further insights into this phenomenon, this exploratory descriptive study surveyed 519 students from China university to investigate the magnitude of students' digital multitasking, motivation behind digital multitasking, and beliefs about reducing phone use. The study found that, (1) despite many respondents reporting the existence of phone limits, no possible reduction in phone use frequency was observed; (2) digital multitasking was positively correlated with mobile phone dependence and non-study motivation; (3) while a majority (86.71%) students expressed their intent to reduce digital multitasking, they were mostly hesitant to follow the moderate or strict rules on phone use; (4) no clear consensus was established (49.90% vs. 50.10%) regarding whether schools should pose more restrictions to encourage such reduction. Parasitic oscillations in the rectifier diode voltage of phase-shifted-full-bridge (PSFB) converters limit their application in high-voltage and high-power situations. The conventional analysis method for parasitic oscillation in rectifier diode voltage in PSFB converters treats the filter inductor as a constant current source and fails to consider the impact of changes in filter inductor current on the rectifier diode's parasitic oscillation. Consequently, this approach does not apply when analyzing the rectifier diode voltage's parasitic oscillations in high-power PSFB converters employing an input-parallel output-series (IPOS) configuration with interleaved drive. This research paper introduces an innovative equivalent circuit model for analyzing the parasitic oscillations of rectifier diode voltage in IPOS high-power PSFB converters. The model takes into account the mutual influence of rectifier diode voltage oscillations between submodules under interleaved control, considering the influence of changes in filter inductor current on rectifier diode parasitic oscillation. Based on the circuit model, we explain the mechanism of multiple oscillations of the rectifier diode voltage and the reason for the high peak of the first oscillation. Consequently, the interplay of rectifier diode voltage oscillations in IPOS high-power k-module PSFB converters under interleaved control is analyzed. To mitigate the adverse effects of rectifier diode voltage parasitic oscillation, a buffering strategy involving the connection of a resistor capacitor diode (RCD) circuit in parallel after the rectifier bridge is adopted, considering the structure of the IPOS high-power PSFB converter. The study provides a detailed analysis of the circuit's operation mechanism upon incorporating the RCD buffer circuit and establishes the relationship between buffer capacitance, resistance, and spike voltage. Furthermore, a design method for buffer capacitors and discharge resistors in buffer circuits is presented. Finally, a 100 kW prototype is tested to verify the rectifier diode voltage oscillation mechanism of the IPOS high-power PSFB converter and the rationality of the buffer capacitor and discharge resistor design method under the interleaved drive approach. Accurately and efficiently determining a system's physical variables is crucial for precise product-quality control. This study proposes a novel method for optimal sensor deployment to increase the accuracy of sensing data for physical variables and ensure the timely detection of the product's particle size in a wet-grinding system. This approach involves three steps. First, a Bayesian network (BN) is designed to model the cause–effect relationship between the physical variables by applying the path model. The detectability is determined to confirm that the mean shifts of all the physical variables are identifiable using sensor sets in the wet-grinding system. Second, the sensing location of accelerometers mounted on the chamber shell is determined according to the coupled computational fluid dynamics–discrete element method simulations. Third, the shuffled frog leaping algorithm is developed by combining the BN to minimize the maximum data output deviation index among all sensor sets and sensory costs; this is achieved under the constraints of the mean shift detectability, achieving optimum sensor allocation. Subsequently, a case study is performed on a zirconia powder production process to demonstrate that the proposed approach minimizes the requirements of the data output deviation index, sensory costs, and detectability. The relaxor ferroelectric single crystal (1−x)Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-xPbTiO3 (PMN-PT) has high piezoelectric constants, and thus has a good application prospect in the field of highly sensitive piezoelectric sensors. In this paper, for relaxor ferroelectric single crystal PMN-PT, the bulk acoustic wave characteristics on pure- and pseudo-lateral-field-excitation (pure- and pseudo-LFE) modes are investigated. LFE piezoelectric coupling coefficients and acoustic wave phase velocities for PMN-PT crystals in different cuts and electric field directions are calculated. On this basis, the optimal cuts of pure-LFE and pseudo-LFE modes of relaxor ferroelectric single crystal PMN-PT are obtained, namely, (zxt)45° and (zxtl)90°/90°, respectively. Finally, finite element simulations are carried out to verify the cuts of pure-LFE and pseudo-LFE modes. The simulation results show that the PMN-PT acoustic wave devices in pure-LFE mode have good energy-trapping effects. For PMN-PT acoustic wave devices in pseudo-LFE mode, when the device is in air, no obvious energy-trapping emerges; when the water (as a virtual electrode) is added to the surface of the crystal plate, an obvious resonance peak and the energy-trapping effect appears. Therefore, the PMN-PT pure-LFE device is suitable for gas-phase detections. While the PMN-PT pseudo-LFE device is suitable for liquid-phase detections. The above results verify the correctness of the cuts of the two modes. Raising the working speed of hydraulic pumps to maximize the efficient matching range of electric motors is one of the possible ways to achieve energy efficiency in electric machinery. By means of a simulation method verified with subsequent experiments in terms of filling efficiency, this paper first analyzed the suction capacity of crescent-type internal gear pumps with different geometric parameters at high speed, and the gear pair that is more suitable for high-speed operation was obtained. Subsequently, as the more significant contributions, two pairing solutions of a non-positive displacement pump and an internal gear pump were proposed to pressurize the inlet of the gear pump to keep it from cavitating. In the compact design solution, the inclined-holes type and axial-flow blade pumps share the same speed as the hydraulic pump, while the decentralized layout solution allows for flexible adjustment of the centrifugal impeller-type pump speed to maximize the filling capability. The final simulation results show that, with the help of inclined-holes type and centrifugal impeller type pumps, the filling efficiency of the internal gear pump at 6000 rpm can be improved by 3.59% and 5.84%, respectively, while the axial-flow blades pump fails to eliminate cavitation regardless of speed. Moreover, when the hydraulic pump works at 6000 rpm, the centrifugal impeller speed needs to be set above 2500 rpm to make sense. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Simple Summary: Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most common primary orthopedic malignancy and typically affects children and young adults. Its lesions often metastasize to distant sites in the body, such as the lungs. Metastatic OS frequently recurs and has a poor prognosis. Our main objective of this study is to provide new insights into the clinical management of patients with osteosarcoma and to explore the risk factors affecting osteosarcoma metastasis. We established a biological marker consisting of three genes from the perspective of defense response for the first time to predict the prognosis of osteosarcoma and to discover new treatment methods. Our findings have implications for both the clinical management and future research of osteosarcoma. Although these reactions make important contributions to the occurrence and development of tumors, the role they play in osteosarcoma (OS), particularly in the immune microenvironment, remains unpredictable. Methods: This study included the clinical information and transcriptomic data of 84 osteosarcoma samples and the microarray data of 12 mesenchymal stem cell samples and 84 osteosarcoma samples. We obtained 129 differentially expressed genes related to the defense response (DRGs) by taking the intersection of differentially expressed genes with genes involved in the defense response pathway, and prognostic genes were screened using univariate Cox regression. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) penalized Cox regression and multivariate Cox regression were then used to establish a DRG prognostic signature (DGPS) via the stepwise method. DGPS performance was examined using independent prognostic analysis, survival curves, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. In addition, the molecular and immune mechanisms of adverse prognosis in high-risk populations identified by DGPS were elucidated. The results were well verified by experiments. Result: BNIP3, PTGIS, and ZYX were identified as the most important DRGs for OS progression (hazard ratios of 2.044, 1.485, and 0.189, respectively). DGPS demonstrated outstanding performance in the prediction of OS prognosis (area under the curve (AUC) values of 0.842 and 0.787 in the training and test sets, respectively, adj-p < 0.05 in the survival curve). DGPS also performed better than a recent clinical prognostic approach with an AUC value of only 0.674 [metastasis], which was certified in the subsequent experimental results. These three genes regulate several key biological processes, including immune receptor activity and T cell activation, and they also reduce the infiltration of some immune cells, such as B cells, CD8+ T cells, and macrophages. Encouragingly, we found that DGPS was associated with sensitivity to chemotherapeutic drugs including JNK Inhibitor VIII, TGX221, MP470, and SB52334. Finally, we verified the effect of BNIP3 on apoptosis, proliferation, and migration of osteosarcoma cells through experiments. Conclusions: This study elucidated the role and mechanism of BNIP3, PTGIS, and ZYX in OS progression and was well verified by the experimental results, enabling reliable prognostic means and treatment strategies to be proposed for OS patients. The distribution profile of plasma homocysteine (Hcy) in young adults and its related factors are not well understood. We performed a generalized estimating equations (GEE) analysis for plasma-Hcy-correlated factors in 2436 young adults, aged 20–39 years, from a health checkup population. We observed that the mean Hcy concentration in males (16.7 ± 10.3 μmol/L) was significantly higher than that in females (10.3 ± 4.0 μmol/L), and hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy) prevalence in males was 5.37 times than that in females (33.3% vs. 6.2%). A GEE analysis stratified by sex indicated that age (B = −0.398, p < 0.001) and LDL-C (B = −1.602, p = 0.043) were negatively correlated, while BMI (B = 0.400, p = 0.042) was positively correlated, with the Hcy level in young males. ALT (B = −0.021, p = 0.033), LDL-C (B = −1.198, p < 0.001) and Glu (B = −0.446, p = 0.006) were negatively correlated, while AST (B = 0.022, p = 0.048), CREA (B = 0.035, p < 0.001), UA (B = 0.004, p = 0.003) and TG (B = 1.042, p < 0.001) were positively correlated, with the Hcy level in young females. These results suggest that young males have a significantly higher plasma Hcy level and HHcy prevalence than young females; therefore, more attention should be paid to the reason for and effect of the higher HHcy prevalence in young males. Quercetin, a flavonoid that is present in vegetables and fruits, has been found to have anti-inflammatory effects. However, the mechanism by which it inhibits colitis is uncertain. This study aimed to explore the effect and pharmacological mechanism of quercetin on dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced ulcerative colitis (UC). Mice were given a 4% (w/v) DSS solution to drink for 7 days, followed by regular water for the following 5 days. Pharmacological mechanisms were predicted by network pharmacology. High-throughput 16S rDNA sequencing was performed to detect changes in the intestinal microbiota composition. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and western blotting were performed to examine the anti-inflammatory role of quercetin in the colon. Quercetin attenuated DSS-induced body weight loss, colon length shortening, and pathological damage to the colon. Quercetin administration modulated the composition of the intestinal microbiota in DSS-induced mice and inhibited the growth of harmful bacteria. Network pharmacology revealed that quercetin target genes were enriched in inflammatory and neoplastic processes. Quercetin dramatically inhibited the expression of phosphorylated protein kinase B (AKT) and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K). Quercetin has a role in the treatment of UC, with pharmacological mechanisms that involve regulation of the intestinal microbiota, re-establishment of healthy microbiomes that favor mucosal healing, and the inhibition of PI3K/AKT signaling. Topological transports of elastic waves have attracted much attention because of their unique immunity to defects and backscattering-suppression ability. Periodic lattice structures are ideal carriers of elastic-wave transports due to their ability to manipulate elastic waves. Compared with honeycomb-lattice structures, the wave-guide-path designs of triangular-lattice structures have higher flexibility. In this paper, topological transports of elastic waves in the periodic triangular-lattice structure are explored. It is shown that differences between intra-coupling and inter-coupling radii can cause the destruction of the effective spatial inversion symmetry, which gives rise to the valley Hall phase transition and the forming of topological edge states. Utilizing valley Hall effect, topological transports of elastic waves traveling along linear and Z-shaped waveguides are realized with low scattering and immunity to defects. On this basis, the path-selection function of transports of elastic waves in periodic triangular-lattice structures is obtained. Topological valley Hall edge states of elastic waves in periodic triangular-lattice structures have a good application prospects in elastic-wave manipulations and communications. Spiral ganglion neurons (SGNs) are important for hearing, and their peripheral and central processes connect sensory cells of the Corti organ to the central nervous system. The resulting network forms a point-to-point auditory conduction. As a cardiac hormone, brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) binds to natriuretic peptide receptor type A leading to diuresis, vasodilatation, inhibition of renin and aldosterone production, and cardiac and vascular myocyte growth. This study primarily aimed to explore the expression and function of BNP in the rat's inner ear and elucidate its regulatory mechanism. We determined the expression and function of BNP and found that the vitamin D receptor (VDR) could upregulate the expression of BNP and enhance its function. In SGNs of the rat inner ear, BNP promotes neuron survival and prolongs neurite length through the cGMP-PKG signaling pathway, which could be regulated by VDR and provide a novel approach for neuronal regeneration therapy. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to report this potential transcriptional regulatory relationship and will act as a reference for research on neuronal regeneration therapy for SGNs injury. A new, wrought Ni-Fe-based alloy with excellent creep rupture life has been developed for 700 °C-class advanced ultra-supercritical (A-USC) steam turbine rotor application. In this study, its tensile deformation behaviors and related microstructure evolution were investigated. Tensile tests were carried out at room temperature, 700 °C, and 750 °C. The results show that the Ni-Fe-based alloy has excellent yield strength at 700 °C, which is higher than that of some other Ni-based/Ni-Fe-based alloys. The fracture surface characteristics indicate trans-granular and intergranular fracture modes at room temperature, 700 °C, and 750 °C. However, the intergranular fraction mode became dominant above 700 °C. Dynamic recrystallization occurred at 700 °C and 750 °C with increasing average misorientation angles. The volume fraction of the γ′ precipitate was around 20%, and the average size of the γ′ precipitates was around 30 μm, which had no noticeable change after the tensile tests. The predominant deformation mechanisms were planar slip at room temperature, bypassing of the γ′ precipitates by the Orowan mechanism, and dislocation shearing at 700 °C and 750 °C. The tensile properties, fracture characteristics, and deformation mechanisms have been well-correlated. Nonlinear multi-stable piezoelectric energy harvesters show broadband frequency spectra and excellent energy harvesting performance, owing to their high output power related to inter-well transitions. However, existing quad-stable piezoelectric energy harvesters contain too many structural parameters, which makes the systems clumsy, and increases the difficulties of dynamic analysis and structural optimization. Herein, a nonlinear quad-stable piezoelectric energy harvester, with only one external magnet, is proposed based on the magnetic force characteristics between a ring magnet and a rectangular magnet. Under selected structural parameters, as the magnet spacing increases, the stability characteristic of the harvester changes from quad-stability to bi-stability, and then to mono-stability. The transformation of the stability characteristic results from the changes in the variation rate of the vertical magnetic force. Subsequently, under the filtered Gaussian white noise within the frequency range of 0–120 Hz, the energy harvesting performance of the harvester is simulated by the classic fourth-order Runge-Kutta method. Simulation results show that the performance of the harvester under the quad-stable structural parameters is better than that under the bi-stable structural parameters, independent of whether the excitation acceleration is small or large. This result is related to the potential well characteristics under the quad-stable and bi-stable structural parameters. More specifically, the potential well depths under the quad-stable and bi-stable structural parameters are almost the same, but the distance between the two outer potential wells under the quad-stable structural parameters is larger than that under the bi-stable structural parameters. Finally, a fabricated prototype is used to measure the experimental performance of the harvester. The experimental data and the estimated data share the same trend. Direct Energy Deposition (DED), as one common type of additive manufacturing, is capable of fabricating metallic components close to net-shape with complex geometry. Surface mechanical attrition treatment (SMAT) is an advanced surface treatment technology which is able to yield a nanostructured surface layer characterized by compressive residual stresses and work hardening, thereby improving the fatigue performances of metallic specimens. In the present study, stainless steel 316L specimens were fabricated by DED and subsequently surface treated by SMAT. Both uniaxial tensile tests and uniaxial tension-compression low-cycle fatigue tests were conducted for as-built and SMAT processed specimens. The microstructure of both conditions was characterized by roughness and hardness measurements, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. After SMAT, nanocrystallites and microtwins were found in the top surface layer. These microstructural features contribute to superior properties of the treated surfaces. Finally, it can be concluded that the mechanical performance of additively manufactured steel under static and fatigue loading can be improved by the SMAT process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

By using ionosonde data recorded at Chiang Mai (18.8° N, 98.9° E, magnetic latitude is 9.1° N), Puer (22.7° N, 101.1° E, magnetic latitude is 12.9° N), and Leshan (29.6° N, 103.7° E, magnetic latitude is 19.8° N), the statistical features of different types of spread F (SF) occurrence at low and middle latitudes were analyzed in this study. The results showed that the SF occurrence had obvious local time, latitude, and SF-type variations. The range spread F (RSF) occurrence in equinox months decreased with the increase in latitude, while the frequency spread F's (FSF) occurrence rate in the summer months increased and the onset time of FSF became earlier when the latitude increased. The generation of SF depends on the SF type. A plasma bubble excited by the generalized Rayleigh–Taylor instability (GRT) at the equator is more likely to produce RSF, while nighttime medium-scale traveling ionospheric disturbances (MSTIDs) induced by Perkins instability at middle latitudes is the main reason for the generation of FSF. The integrated pump gate structure can improve the shortcomings of traditional asymmetric pumping stations with large floor space, but its internal flow mechanism is not clear, which affects its efficient, stable, and safe operation. In order to reveal its internal fluid flow characteristics, numerical simulations based on the N-S equation with the SST k-ω turbulence model are used in this paper, and experimental validation is carried out. The test results yielded an efficiency of 60.50% near the design flow condition, corresponding to a flow rate of 11.5 L/s, a head of 2.7569 m, a hydraulic loss of 0.064 m in the inlet channel, and a hydraulic loss of 1.337 m in the outlet channel. The integrated pump gate has a uniform inlet water flow pattern, less undesirable flow pattern, and a large backflow vortex in the outlet water. This paper reveals the internal flow characteristics of its integrated pump gate inlet and outlet water, and the research results can provide some reference for the design, theoretical analysis, and application of similar integrated pump gates. Based on Mindlin's first-order plate theory, the high-frequency vibrations of piezoelectric bulk acoustic wave array sensors under lateral-field-excitation based on crystals with 3 m point group are analyzed, and the spectral-frequency relationships are solved, based on which, the optimal length–thickness ratio of the piezoelectric crystal plate is determined. Then, the dynamic capacitance diagram is obtained by a forced vibration analysis of the piezoelectric crystal plate. The resonant mode conforming to good energy trapping is further obtained. The frequency interferences between different resonator units are calculated, and the influences of the spacing between two resonant units on the frequency interference with different electrode widths and spacings are analyzed. Finally, the safe spacings between resonator units are obtained. As the electrode spacing value of the left unit increases, the safe spacing d0 between the two resonator units decreases, and the frequency interference curve tends to zero faster. When the electrode spacings of two resonator units are equal, the safe distance is largest, and the frequency interference curve tends to zero slowest. The theoretical results are verified further by finite element method. The analysis model of high frequency vibrations of strongly coupled piezoelectric bulk acoustic array device based on LiTaO3 crystals with 3 m point group proposed in this paper can provide reliable theoretical guidance for size optimization designs of strongly coupled piezoelectric array sensors under lateral-field-excitation. The monoclinic YCOB crystal still maintains good piezoelectric properties at 800 °C; thus, it has a good application prospect in high-temperature piezoelectric acoustic wave sensors. However, due to the lower symmetry compared crystals in trigonal and tetragonal systems, the exciting characteristics of piezoelectric plates based on monoclinic YCOB crystals are more complicated. The vibration analysis model of lateral-field-excitation (LFE) devices based on monoclinic crystals is scarce; thus, the coupling relationships between different vibration modes and energy-trapping characteristics of the devices are unclear, which hinders the optimal design of devices. In this paper, by using Mindlin plate theory, the high-frequency vibrations of piezoelectric resonators based on monoclinic YCOB crystal plates excited by a lateral electric field are modeled and analyzed. The coupling relationships between the vibration modes of the device are clarified. The influences of the electrode width, electrode/plate mass ratio and electrode gap value on resonances and energy-trapping characteristics of the device are achieved. In addition, the effects of the structure parameters on the mass sensitivity of the monoclinic YCOB LFE devices are investigated, which are further verified by FEM simulations. The relative motion and collision between grinding media in a wet-stirred accelerator mill are modelled using the discrete element method (DEM) coupled with computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The local average normalized grinding media velocity profile is employed to divide the grinding chamber into four volumes, which facilitates the analysis of the stress energy distribution. The local grinding media filling levels, velocity distributions, stress energy distributions and energy efficiencies are compared at various total grinding media filling levels and stirrer speeds. The rationality of the division of stress energy volume was verified by the stress energy distribution. The stress intensity, stress number and collision stress energy from the grinding media's motion and particle collisions exhibited different distributions, with the stress number playing a leading role in the collision stress energy distribution. Moreover, energy efficiency is quantitatively characterized under different process conditions. Featured Application: Non-evaporable getters (NEG) with low activation temperature are more compatible with devices and can be widely applied in particle accelerators, the Tokamak fusion test reactor, field-emission display, vacuum packaged MEMS and neutron tubes. The activation process of Zr, ZrVHf and TiZrV non-evaporative getter (NEG) thin films, prepared by direct current magnetron sputtering, is investigated by in situ synchrotron radiation photoemission spectroscopy. The activation temperatures of Zr and ZrVHf films are found to be 300 °C and 200 °C, respectively, and the activation temperature of TiZrV film is 120 °C—the lowest activation temperature reported on TiZrV. As the heating temperature increases, the transformation of metal-C bond follows the orders of V–C, Ti–C, Zr–C, Hf–C. It is found that the order of reduction difficulty of the same element oxides, that is, Zr oxide and V oxide in different films follows Zr film > ZrVHf film > TiZrV film. The order of difficulty in the reduction of oxides in the same alloy NEG films follows HfO2 > ZrO2 > TiO2 > V2O5. We propose that the above phenomena can be explained by interstitial diffusion, grain boundary diffusion of residual gas atoms and grain boundary precipitation of V and Ti in the solid solution of the NEG films. Emerging evidence has shown that cell-cell interactions between testicular cells, in particular at the Sertoli cell-cell and Sertoli-germ cell interface, are crucial to support spermatogenesis. The unique ultrastructures that support cell-cell interactions in the testis are the basal ES (ectoplasmic specialization) and the apical ES. The basal ES is found between adjacent Sertoli cells near the basement membrane that also constitute the blood-testis barrier (BTB). The apical ES is restrictively expressed at the Sertoli-spermatid contact site in the apical (adluminal) compartment of the seminiferous epithelium. These ultrastructures are present in both rodent and human testes, but the majority of studies found in the literature were done in rodent testes. As such, our discussion herein, unless otherwise specified, is focused on studies in testes of adult rats. Studies have shown that the testicular cell-cell interactions crucial to support spermatogenesis are mediated through distinctive signaling proteins and pathways, most notably involving FAK, Akt1/2 and Cdc42 GTPase. Thus, manipulation of some of these signaling proteins, such as FAK, through the use of phosphomimetic mutants for overexpression in Sertoli cell epithelium in vitro or in the testis in vivo, making FAK either constitutively active or inactive, we can modify the outcome of spermatogenesis. For instance, using the toxicant-induced Sertoli cell or testis injury in rats as study models, we can either block or rescue toxicant-induced infertility through overexpression of p-FAK-Y397 or p-FAK-Y407 (and their mutants), including the use of specific activator(s) of the involved signaling proteins against pAkt1/2. These findings thus illustrate that a potential therapeutic approach can be developed to manage toxicant-induced male reproductive dysfunction. In this review, we critically evaluate these recent findings, highlighting the direction for future investigations by bringing the laboratory-based research through a translation path to clinical investigations. This paper presents an experimental and analytical investigation on the performance of partial penetration welds used to adjoin steel plates in irregular shaped multicell concrete filled steel tubes. The experimental program of this study is designed based on an actual implementation of such members as mega columns in a super high rise building in China. A total of six specimens are designed with different plate arrangements for the purpose of testing the performance of the partial penetration welds at different locations of the specimen. The designed specimens are tested under different load procedures and directions; this is achieved by placing them in vertical and slantwise manners between two loading plates which impose monotonic and cyclic actions. The failure conditions of each of the tested specimens are presented and discussed in detail and are based on the conclusions drawn from the experimental observations; the partial penetration weld at the corner of the tested specimens is found to be the most vulnerable. To facilitate large scale analysis, a finite element model constructed by the finite element analysis program ABAQUS is verified against experimental results. The evaluation of the stress at the partial penetration welded corner is carried out following an empirical procedure, which is adopted due to the complexity of the problem domain. The adopted procedure consists of two steps: the first one is to initially evaluate the stress based on an existing method in the literature, and the second one is to fit the results of the initial evaluation with the finite element model results based on parametric and regression analysis. After performing regression analysis, a formula to predict the weld stress is concluded, and the results of the proposed equation are found to be satisfactory when compared with the finite element model results. Mechanical properties play a key role in the failure of dental implants. Dental implants require fatigue life testing before clinical application, but this process takes a lot of time. This study investigated the effect of various loading angles and implant lengths on the static fracture and fatigue life of dental implants. Implants with lengths of 9 mm and 11 mm were prepared. Static fracture tests and dynamic fatigue life tests were performed under three loading angles (30°, 40°, and 50°), and the level arm and bending moment were measured. After that, the fracture morphology and fracture mode of the implant were observed. The results showed that 9 mm length implants have a higher static failure load and can withstand greater bending moments, while 11 mm length implants have a longer fatigue life. In addition, as the loading angle increases, the static strength and bending moment decrease linearly, and the fatigue life shows an exponential decrease at a rate of three times. Increasing the loading angle reduces the time of the implant fatigue test, which may be an effective method to improve the efficiency of the experiment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Artemisinin (also known as Qinghaosu), an active component of the Qinghao extract, is widely used as antimalarial drug. Previous studies reveal that artemisinin and its derivatives also have effective anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties, but the direct molecular target remains unknown. Recently, several reports mentioned that myeloid differentiation factor 2 (MD-2, also known as lymphocyte antigen 96) may be the endogenous target of artemisinin in the inhibition of lipopolysaccharide signaling. However, the exact interaction between artemisinin and MD-2 is still not fully understood. Here, experimental and computational methods were employed to elucidate the relationship between the artemisinin and its inhibition mechanism. Experimental results showed that artemether exhibit higher anti-inflammatory activity performance than artemisinin and artesunate. Molecular docking results showed that artemisinin, artesunate, and artemether had similar binding poses, and all complexes remained stable throughout the whole molecular dynamics simulations, whereas the binding of artemisinin and its derivatives to MD-2 decreased the TLR4(Toll-Like Receptor 4)/MD-2 stability. Moreover, artemether exhibited lower binding energy as compared to artemisinin and artesunate, which is in good agreement with the experimental results. Leu61, Leu78, and Ile117 are indeed key residues that contribute to the binding free energy. This paper proposes a biobjective continuous transportation network design problem concerning road congestion charging with the consideration of speed limit. The efficiency of the traffic network and the reduction of pollution in the network environment are improved by designing a reasonable road capacity enhancement and speed limit strategy. A biobjective bilevel programming model is developed to formulate the proposed network design problem. The first target of the upper problem is the optimization of road charging efficiency, and the other target is the total cost of vehicle emissions; these objectives are required to devise the optimal road capacity enhancement scheme, speed limiting schemes for different time periods, and the road pricing scheme. The lower-level problem involving travellers' route choice behaviours uses stochastic user equilibrium (SUE) theory. Based on the nondominated sorting genetic algorithm, which is applied to solve the bilevel programming model, a numerical example is developed to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed model and algorithm. The results show that the implementation of congestion charging measures on the congested road sections would help to alleviate road congestion in the transportation network, effectively save transportation infrastructure investment and limited urban land resources, increase fiscal revenue, and open up new sources of funds for urban infrastructure construction. In this work, lateral-field-excitation (LFE) piezoelectric sensors based on polarity inversion layer are designed and fabricated, then frequency stabilities and sensitivities on electric property changes of liquids are tested. Because the polarity inversion layer can suppress the spurious modes, the stabilities of the LFE devices with a polarity inversion layer are obviously better than that of LFE devices with no polarity inversion layer. On the changes of liquid conductivity and permittivity, the sensitivities of the LFE devices with a polarity inversion layer are 2.4 times and 2.1 times higher than that of LFE devices with no polarity inversion layer, respectively. The polarity inversion layer of the lithium niobate crystal plate can be realized conveniently by heat treatment, therefore, the technology of the polarity inversion layer can play an important role in improving the sensing performances of LFE sensors. Imbalanced learning is a common problem in remote sensing imagery-based land-use and land-cover classifications. Imbalanced learning can lead to a reduction in classification accuracy and even the omission of the minority class. In this paper, an impartial semi-supervised learning strategy based on extreme gradient boosting (ISS-XGB) is proposed to classify very high resolution (VHR) images with imbalanced data. ISS-XGB solves multi-class classification by using several semi-supervised classifiers. It first employs multi-group unlabeled data to eliminate the imbalance of training samples and then utilizes gradient boosting-based regression to simulate the target classes with positive and unlabeled samples. In this study, experiments were conducted on eight study areas with different imbalanced situations. The results showed that ISS-XGB provided a comparable but more stable performance than most commonly used classification approaches (i.e., random forest (RF), XGB, multilayer perceptron (MLP), and support vector machine (SVM)), positive and unlabeled learning (PU-Learning) methods (PU-BP and PU-SVM), and typical synthetic sample-based imbalanced learning methods. Especially under extremely imbalanced situations, ISS-XGB can provide high accuracy for the minority class without losing overall performance (the average overall accuracy achieves 85.92%). Plasma oxidation could produce an oxidized surface, resulting in a graded TiO2−x film layer and significantly improving dental implant hydrophilicity and biocompatibility. Unfortunately, these features are gradually lost by the influence of the environment. In this study, alkali storage was used to improve these characteristics at room temperature. Titanium samples were divided into sandblasting acid-etching (SLA), oxidation (SLA samples that were oxidized), and storage (SLA samples that were oxidized and stored in 0.1 mol/L NaOH solution) groups. We measured the surface properties of each group, including the roughness, chemical composition, and hydrophilicity of these materials. We investigated the effects of titanium storage on cell responses, including cell attachment, proliferation, differentiation. We also investigated the osseointegration of the stored titanium implants. The results showed that the storage process maintains the superhydrophilic properties of oxidation treatment. Oxidized samples promoted cell responses. The descending order of biocompatibility was storage > oxidation > SLA. Furthermore, oxidation and alkali storage had significant effects on bone growth at the early stage of the implant. These results suggested that alkali storage can suitably maintain the surface characteristics of plasma oxidation, and the combination of oxidation and storage treatment can improve the primary implant stability. The precise role of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) in Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells is unknown and EGFR inhibitors have not achieved positive clinical results. The rapid and drastic internalization of EGFR has been proved to successfully treat EGFR inhibitor-resistant patients in recent clinical trials. Here, the anti-tumor efficacy of a protein (rLZ-8) from Ganoderma lucidum was evaluated, it was demonstrated that rLZ-8 could bind to EGFR specifically, drastically enter into Hepatoma cells, abrogate endosomal recycling and induce HCC cell death. Surprisingly, we screened a monoclonal antibody which possesses competitive binding site with rLZ-8, it also trigger catastrophic EGFR internalization. This result suggests that it is necessary to investigate the interface of EGFR and rLZ-8 complex. An internalization related epitope (S222/K269) was identified on the dimerization arm of EGFR extracellular domain (ECD). These results suggest vulnerability of HCC cells to catastrophic EGFR internalization that can be targeted by a novel epitope and point to the possible exploitation in the design of anti-EGFR therapeutic biologics for HCC therapy. Although amorphous alloys possess many excellent properties, their practical application is limited due to the difficulty of plastic forming. In this work, an effective shear punching of amorphous alloys under high-frequency vibrations was proposed. Under the high-frequency vibration of the punch, the plastic powder was melted into a flexible punch due to the frictional heat generation effect and the viscoelastic heat effect and continued to flow downward under the extrusion of the ultrasonic head to plastically deform the amorphous alloy ribbon. The disordered structure of the amorphous alloys helps them get soft in a localized region during high-frequency vibrations, which can result in low-stress deformations that are different from amorphous alloys in the conventional state. We manufactured various shapes with area of 5 mm2 using high-frequency vibrations and a molten plastic viscous medium. The molds were shaped into the letters "B", "M", and "G" and the Chinese characters "工" and "大". The shapes were made from Fe-based, Al-based, La-based, and Cu-based amorphous alloys. Our results show that shear punching of amorphous alloys under high-frequency vibrations is an effective and low-cost production method of amorphous alloy, which also provides a basis for the wide application of amorphous alloy. The fundamental principle of Quality by Design (QbD) is that the product quality should be designed into the process through an upstream approach, rather than be tested in the downstream. The keystone of QbD is process modeling, and thus, to develop a process control strategy based on the development of design space. Multivariate statistical analysis is a very useful tool to support the implementation of QbD in pharmaceutical process development and manufacturing. Nowadays, pharmaceutical process modeling is mainly focused on one-unit operations and system modeling for the development of design space across multi-unit operations is still limited. In this study, a general procedure that gives a holistic view for understanding and controlling the process settings for the entire manufacturing process was investigated. The proposed framework was tested on the Panax Notoginseng Saponins immediate release tablet (PNS IRT) production process. The critical variables and the critical units acting on the process were identified according to the importance of explaining the variability in the multi-block partial least squares path model. This improved understanding of the process by illustrating how the properties of the raw materials, the process parameters in the wet granulation and the compaction and the intermediate properties affect the tablet properties. Furthermore, the design space was developed to compensate for the variability source from the upstream. A bark-like imitated polypr opylene (PP)/polycarbonate (PC) nanofibrous membrane was constructed by one-step meltblown technique for efficient particulate matter (PM) removal. The effects of PC content (0%, 1%, 3%, 5%, and 7%) on membrane thermal stability, microscopic characteristics, filtration performance, hydrophilicity, and water vapor transmission were investigated. The results demonstrated that using facile design of incompatibility and viscosity difference between PC and PP polymers decreases average fiber diameter, creating a bark-like groove appearance and increasing surface potential, making a new PP/PC membrane with high filtration performance. The resultant PP/PC membrane had finer average fiber diameter of 0.63 μm, which was nearly 89.41% lower than PP membranes (5.95 μm), and its quality factor (0.036 Pa−1) was nearly 2.12 times than that of PP membranes (0.017 Pa−1) with the die hole diameter of 0.5 mm. This fabrication technique of a special meltblown filter membrane saves the cost of die retrofitting and post-processing, which provides an innovative method for particulate efficient removal of high efficient filters. Imbalanced learning is a methodological challenge in remote sensing communities, especially in complex areas where the spectral similarity exists between land covers. Obtaining high-confidence classification results for imbalanced class issues is highly important in practice. In this paper, extreme gradient boosting (XGB), a novel tree-based ensemble system, is employed to classify the land cover types in Very-high resolution (VHR) images with imbalanced training data. We introduce an extended margin criterion and disagreement performance to evaluate the efficiency of XGB in imbalanced learning situations and examine the effect of minority class spectral separability on model performance. The results suggest that the uncertainty of XGB associated with correct classification is stable. The average probability-based margin of correct classification provided by XGB is 0.82, which is about 46.30% higher than that by random forest (RF) method (0.56). Moreover, the performance uncertainty of XGB is insensitive to spectral separability after the sample imbalance reached a certain level (minority:majority > 10:100). The impact of sample imbalance on the minority class is also related to its spectral separability, and XGB performs better than RF in terms of user accuracy for the minority class with imperfect separability. The disagreement components of XGB are better and more stable than RF with imbalanced samples, especially for complex areas with more types. In addition, appropriate sample imbalance helps to improve the trade-off between the recognition accuracy of XGB and the sample cost. According to our analysis, this margin-based uncertainty assessment and disagreement performance can help users identify the confidence level and error component in similar classification performance (overall, producer, and user accuracies). This study aims to produce polypropylene (PP)/titanium dioxide (TiO2) melt-blown membranes for oil/water separation and photocatalysis. PP and different contents of TiO2 are melt-blended to prepare master batches using a single screw extruder. The master batches are then fabricated into PP/TiO2 melt-blown membranes. The thermal properties of the master batches are analyzed using differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis, and their particle dispersion and melt-blown membrane morphology are evaluated by scanning electron microscopy. TiO2 loaded on melt-blown membranes is confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The oil/water separation ability of the melt-blown membranes is evaluated to examine the influence of TiO2 content. Results show that the thermal stability and photocatalytic effect of the membranes increase with TiO2 content. TiO2 shows a good dispersion in the PP membranes. After 3 wt.% TiO2 addition, crystallinity increases by 6.4%, thermal decomposition temperature increases by 25 °C compared with pure PP membranes. The resultant PP/TiO2 melt-blown membrane has a good morphology, and better hydrophobicity even in acetone solution or 6 h ultraviolet irradiation, and a high oil flux of about 15,000 L·m−2·h−1. Moreover, the membranes have stabilized oil/water separation efficiency after being repeatedly used. In this study, a self-made continuous needleless dynamic linear electrospinning technique is employed to fabricate large-scale graphene (Gr)/carbon nanotubes (CNT)/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/sodium alginate (SA) nanofibrous membranes. The synergistic effect of Gr and CNT fillers in the PVA/SA membrane is explored in depth by changing the volume ratio (v/v) of Gr and CNT as 10:0, 8:2, 6:4, 4:6, 2:8, and 0:10. Microstructure, functional group, conductivity, and hydrophilicity of PVA/SA/Gr/CNT membranes was characterized. Results show that the linear electrode needleless electrospinning technique can be spun into 200-nm diameter fibers. The PVA/SA/Gr/CNT fibrous membrane has good hydrophilicity and thermal stability. A Gr/CN ratio of 6:4 possessed the optimal synergistic effect, which showed the lowest surface resistivity of 2.53 × 103 Ω/m2.
